You probably didnt know that I've always had a love-hate relationship with watches. I've always had a fascination for the miniature technology, for the intense complexity that gets compressed into such small pieces, dressed with sex appeal with a selfish, "what can you do for me", sense of mystery. The hate part of this is that early on in my life I wore a watch because I had to. My life revolved around that dial (pun intended). It controlled every minute of my day. It affected my life in so many negative ways. It cost me so many things...so many people. Not because the watch was evil but because I had no skillset to utilize time or my life. I wasted so much time improperly. So for a very long time I stopped wearing a watch. I chose to make a change. I realized I couldn't change the world without first changing myself. Taking off the watch symbolized the turning point in my life. I dont want to live controlled by a watch. It's been a tough road and there have been so many unfortunate social casualties on this road to finding myself. I've made drastic life changes and I'm still sculpting myself into the person I should've been so long ago. I've hurt and disappointed many along the way. It's hard not to beat yourself up with haunting regrettable memories of what you "could've done". It's been difficult not to let opinions of me become my reality. Of course I continue to make mistakes. I'm still trying. But I also continue to push forward. I still practice personal development, reading books, listen to Audio books, serve my community and serve my Creator. All this to say, I've finally started wearing a watch again. Not because I have to, this time it's because I want to. I dont live by the clock, Im not stressed about time. Now I truly can truly appreciate everything I mentioned at the beginning about this watch. This pic is my 2nd watch. The 1st watch I've had for decades, (coincidentally stopped working last year) was worn under different circumstances. This new watch symbolizes a completely different mindset & appreciation. Like the wise John Mayer once wrote, "I'm in repair...
