Sometimes, I wonder if (work and chores and hobbies and regular life stuff aside) I deliberately take my time when writing WIPs because, like watching a riveting movie or relishing an indulgent dessert, I kind of enjoy the process too much to want it to end.

You know, the entirely spellbinding pursuit of bringing your thoughts and ideas into existence: each character you flesh out, every relationship you develop, the worlds you create and breathe passionate life into via your fingers.

And when it eventually does end, when the last punctuation mark has been set and the final edit has been finished, you’re immensely satisfied. But at the same time, there’s an unexpected wistfulness; a longing to linger. A contentment that also feels in part… restless? A completion that doesn’t quite satiate thoroughly. You’re grateful, but also…

Such a gorgeous whirlwind of feelings. Like having a fondness for clear, blue skies as well as grey storm clouds.

May our artistic journeys always enchant us.
