I remember first seeing this post on freaking Pinterest and becoming super interested in wood crytids and stuff, you know, you always have that phase. Well, I kinda started remembered little instances where these had happened to me. You don’t recognize them right away, you think you’re silly for being superstitious, but then you find it happens to other people and... what you see is real.
I live in East Texas, practically in the middle of the woods. There are a total of two houses that are on the same street as us. It’s completely forest. And let me tell you, you see weird crap in those woods.
The coyotes hunting in packs thing? I’ve seen that before. We put the dogs and cat up at night, predictably, because that’s when the coyotes surround the house and start barking. You’ll occasionally hear the wolf. Several times my dad has shot coyotes that came up to our front yard in a daze- probably rabid. I always thought they traveled and hunted in packs like that. Apparently not.
The occupy your seats thing? It’s instinctual. East Texas, so practically everyone hear is Baptist and is raised in a Baptist home, so you don’t think of being aware of this. But I’ve never been in a car where one or more of the seats is just completely empty.
Oh, and the Not Deer. They absolutely love the country roads that we frequent. I’ve experienced so many that we’re used to it by now.
There’s also the extremely creepy lakes and rivers that you pass by on the streets. They’re in secluded woods, with narrow concrete bridges for you to drive over. In fact, two days ago we were riding over one on four-wheelers and I just got the most creepy feeling. I could tell my mom and sister felt the same way- they were withdrawn and pale. “A good fishing spot”, my dad said. But you could tell that it was A Spot.
Oh, and don’t even mention the houses. Victorian style houses, still nice and three stories, but the yards are overgrown. The paint is peeling. There are holes in the roof. Some of them have historical marker sights. Old churches too. Heck, I just drove by a house like this writing this post. They’re in every neighborhood.
I have lots of family in Louisiana and Arkansas, and it’s the exact same way. The only difference is a matter of ghosts. Also, Louisiana has really bad gas stations. Like really, really, really bad gas stations. The three of us (sister, mom, and I) were harassed by an old guy all the way back to the car.
The small, old towns are the most cryptic. Marthaville for instance. Only old people still live there- the kids have grown and moved away. The prices and everything are stuck back in the nineties. Everyone knows everyone. My great grandfathers house is kinda creepy, but a lot of that accounted for my older cousin telling me about giant, red eyed rats that chewed on your face when we were sleeping on the floor.
You have to be careful about walking around graveyards and cemeteries. You absolutely never step in front of a gravestone. Something about respect, or the ghosts of the cemetery. Also, in places like Marthaville, specific places in cemeteries are absolutely covered by one family. They’ve been there for generations and generations.
You never swim in lake water. You just don’t.
There’s lots of abandoned barns too, with the longhorn skulls stuck in the trees. You regularly pass by them, standing lonely in fields.
And most importantly, you NEVER go through the woods at night. Don’t look behind you. Just turn around and go another way. Everyone knows it.
Irish people; The faeries aren’t real
Irish people; No fucking way will I go in that faerie ring

✨With most schools, colleges and unis closed around the globe and most studyblr students now having school at home I thought I would create a challenge to help everyone stay focused and productive and also to connect with people so even though most people are self-isolating, we don’t feel lonely✨
✨Info✨
Because no one really knows when we’re going to be able to go back to schools and I know it will depend very much on where you live, I’m going to do a month of daily ‘challenges’ starting on Monday 23rd March 2020 but if the quarantine keeps going I’ll try to add as the weeks/months go on
I want to see what y’all are posting so please use the tag #2020 quarantine challenge and I’ll track this tag and reboot as much as possible!
On this note, I will reblog basically everything even if you don’t think it is ‘aesthetic’ cause I love seeing how everyone does their notes and stuff so please get involved 💕

6. what does your umbrella look like?
my umbrella is small and portable, and black with white polka dots.
7. do you listen to ASMR?
no, i don’t.
9. what’s a little thing in life that you love?
just cuddling my cat- i love him, he’s so adorable and his purring is so peaceful.
10. favorite color aesthetic?
i love a soft white aesthetic, perhaps broken up by a soft yellow or blue or green- this is what my room looks like, haha.
13. do you have any candles? what scents are they?
i own one small candle that smells like vanilla.
16. what’s a language that you’d like to speak?
i would love to speak French, German, Latin, or Korean!
22. what’s an underrated show/ movie/ video game that you love and you think needs more attention?
the Emperor’s New Groove! it’s my absolute favorite movie, and i don’t think people recognize the comedy and humor a lot of the time.

28. do you still watch shows that you watched as a kid?
from time to time i will watch the occasional Barbie movie with my sister, just to laugh and make fun of the cringiness of it!
29. do you still like old memes?
depends. i’m a strong believer that vine will NEVER die, and old tumblr jokes are my absolute favorites (oh, haven’t you heard?) but the Chuck Norris and Keanu Reeves reaction pics with the black and white script are only grandparent worth. lol
30. favorite Halloween costume you dressed as?
when i was in the fourth grade i dressed as a black cat. my mom made me a tulle skirt and i had little ears and a tail and a jingly collar and she painted on a nose and whiskers with eyeliner.
