For something fun, what’re your hopes with where Bick and Tommy’s story is by the end of the season and how they may set it up for the future? I’m hoping that they have a more focused ending for them going into season eight unlike what we got in the last season with Buck and Natalia. That ending felt very open ended in that they could be serious or could not be. I mean that worked out well for Buck’s story, but given this relationship with Tommy is his 3rd within the last three seasons, I would imagine they want it to be a good and serious one AND for the general audience to take it as such. That’s why I think ending the season with them not just being in a ‘good place’, but showing us (and not just telling us) that they are serious and committed would be the way to do that. This would also break the cycle of Buck’s nerve ending never succeeding romantic relationships.

my dream version: tommy and possibly buck heroic moment in ep9, we get worried boyfriends, maybe another big smooch, bit of conflict as they both have to come to terms with being on the other side of dating a first responder, and we end the season with them in the montage watching the movie they never got to see, but this time at home cuddling on buck's couch (the movie is either love, actually or top gun)

real world version where it's not the bucktommy show: i still think maybe a heroic tommy moment in ep9 cause of the award ceremony, unless it actually is for the cruise ship rescue (which wouldn't quite make sense, yeah they saved people and the dept saved face, but tommy still stole a chopper, and the others lied to their superior and disobeyed orders, also, how long has it been in-universe 🤨) hopefully a cute domestic moment during/after the ceremony (my heart for a buck/tommy/bobby/athena scene). as for a more focused ending, half of the finales so far have had a get together of some sort, so having a party at bobby and athena's and buck bringing tommy would help cement the seriousness of their relationship, since none of the others have been shown at the family events, and then we could get a bit of them dancing at the party during the ending montage

(i'm also pretty sure, if they are together at the end of the season 🤞 then they'll still be together at the start of s8, cause otherwise it'll be the second premiere in a row where we last saw buck seemingly happy in a relationship only for them to break up between seasons. if they are gonna break up, it would probably be sometime during the first half of s8. or they could stay together forever and get married and grow old and die within hours of each other, like thomas and mitchell)

I pulled for the Leviathan's 「Childish Jealousy」 and got him in one try TToTT) I was honestly expecting his artifact... but I'm glad. Because I'm curious how the story goes.

This is so controversial due to to when they released the game... and Leviathan's method by manipulating MC's memory... Like the seraph's christmas event, it's clearly not for everyone and it turns away people who doesn't have context.

What I'm saying is, it's okay if it's not your type. You're totally valid. I can see why it's problematic for some people. But there are those who have seen the context so please try to understand their point of view too ^^)

First, the thing I like about this event is we got more about the presentation of the sins. Wrath, Greed, Gluttony and their purposes. I'm curious about Lust, Sloth and Pride. It's curious how Leviathan sees his domain in negative light unlike the other sins.

There's a saying that feeling "jealousy/envy means you value that something that you wish to possess them so much". It's just a matter how you execute it. Whether to ruin yourself or othe others. Or to strive to do better to obtain it.

Anyways! Moving on! I'm glad we got a glimpse of MC's backstory.

I was questioning whether the terrible things happening that day, other than MC clumsiness, is due to Leviathan by how the other students treats her but even him have not much power inside the dream without risking to break both of their mind.

So our MC here is not only clumsy but also bullied;;;

I'm gonna be honest. Leviathan's mind process always makes me laugh... maybe it's because I'm a lax-thinker and his cold-aggressiveness is too funny.

My only turn of from this event is the prolouge rushed on the 18+ scene? I know in every prolouge we end with the start of it but it would be nice if MC had realized they are on a dream instead of still being a highschool student and Leviathan is their childhood bestfriend.

Overall... I'd say for Leviathan whose childhood was taken away, a moment of, let's say, normality like in human world can help him ease a bit and is a good thing for him.

When he wasn't thinking about what to do to imitate Minhyeok, he was pretty wholesome ngl. His superiority and irritation was never gone but he is more carefree.

Anyways, everyone on their opinion. It sucks PB didn't really gave a specific timeline so we can only assume MC is 18 here so it's better to not go to others if they like it.

Everyone are entitled in their opinion and we, as an adult, can settle this properly.

MC turned adult in the second part of the story. They still believe Leviathan is their childhood friend tho.

And they're jealous because he is more experienced than him, which fuels our King of Envy.

I first labeled Leviathan as a kuudere because of how cold he is treating MC. Now he never gonna beat that tsundere allegations. You're on your own, Levi.

Eddie says you can sit wherever you like during soundcheck, whether that be sidestage, by the barrier, up in the VIP section balcony, or even just plain centre stage with him and the boys. Which is ridiculous because you'll definitely be in the way if you do, but he has awfully convincing reasoning. 

"I'm gonna marry you," he says succinctly. "If people aren't used to seeing you by my hip by now they will be eventually." 

So you don't go sit up on the balcony. You're also not gonna entertain his silly ideas, sitting neatly in a fold out sidestage with your ear plugs in, ear defenders in your lap. Eddie has assured you time and time again that nobody is gonna judge you for wearing them, they're not foreign to people in show business, but you can't make yourself unless the music is extremely loud. 

You scratch at one of the cans and watch Eddie run his hands up the neck of Sweetheart the third, looking odd in his hoodie and sweatpants. 

He has a complex about your 'giving up your dream' so he can chase his. And sure, you have ambitions, there are a thousand things you want to do, but none have ever felt as present to you as music is to him. Well, besides being his girl. You don't under evaluate the happiness you've found with Eddie, the late late nights and the early mornings, moments stolen between flights and buses and shows and interviews. It's all worth it to be with him and see his wicked smile during shows. 

His smile isn't nearly so electric right now. He's got his eyebrows scrunched up, picking at strings and apologising and then rescinding his apology when somebody rags on him. 

They start to play the crowd pleasers and you turn to your book, humming with your leg tapping to the rhythm. You get lost for a while and don't notice when the music fades away, nor when Eddie comes to stand in front of you. 

You can vaguely hear voices, so you look up, and when you find Eddie as close as he is you jump. He reaches out with two panicked hands and plants them against your hiked shoulders. 

"Just me," he says, or mouths, one hand moving to your ear. He pulls an earplug free carefully. 

"I'm sorry," you say breathlessly. 

He gets all cuddly, hand curled around your earplug and arm around your neck. His mouth is a heat over your forehead as he lays kisses from temple to temple, chest rumbling with a pleased sigh. 

"Plugs are doing their job," he says. 

You twist your hands into the front of his hoodie where he's leaning over you, unsurprised by his affection. He's always like this. 

"You don't have to stay if it's too loud." 

It's really loud. "It's alright." 

You feel his lips curve into a smile. "No," he says, pulling back quick to cradle your cheeks. "It's loud. I was thinking, maybe you should take a break tonight. Stay at the hotel." 

You don't get offended, though insecurity rears it's head for a split second. Why doesn't he want me at the show? It's gone as quickly as it came, dissolved by his concerned eyes. 

A break would be nice. You love to be here and to support him but the constant sound is overwhelming, and it builds up until you're wiped of energy. 

"Stay home, watch a movie," — he leans in, lips quirked into a knowing smile — "what kind of movie's up to you." 

"Eddie," you murmur pleadingly, turning in your seat to make sure no one's listening. 

He shushes you and dips down until his mouth is near your ear, hands holding you in place. "We need some inspiration, don't you think?" 

You're melting. "Eddie, please." Don't do this here. 

"Yeah, just like that," he murmurs. 

You push him forcibly away from you and glare at his giggling, his slight bend at the waist and his hand pressed to his stomach. 

"Jerk." 

"I'm serious about taking a break," he says as his laughter tapers off. He licks his lips. "It'll be tough but I can make it through one night without you." 

"Night?" 

"Show," he amends, leaning down with a pout. 

You give him a faux-reluctant peck. 

"Definitely not the whole night. You better still be there when I get back," he warns. 

You will be. You open your arms expectantly for a proper hug though you can't bring yourself to ask, and lucky you, Eddie collapses down into your chest smelling clean and familiar. He's warm. There's an inherent excitement that comes with being loved like this, the evidence of his affection in his adoring hands as they rub your back and the corner of his smile against your cheek.

"Not going anywhere," you murmur. His arms get that little bit tighter.

Let's talk about DJ Subatomic Supernova...

Ah yes one of the most eccentric, funniest, and coolest designed bosses. DJSS is the very first boss you fight and acts as a sort of test after the lights up audition tutorial. He is very interesting and his personality is through the roof, so let's get started shall we?

"What have you done today? Simpletons!"

DJSS has an ego, you could say it's planet sized (ba-dum tss). Anyways, even though he has an ego he is one of the most loved characters in NSR. I can see why, he has a huge personality and a really cool theme going on with it being based on space.

Unlike other NSR artists we do know he had two jobs before becoming an artist, a university professor and an astrophysicist, which explains his vast knowledge of space. He knows a lot about space and uses his knowledge in really funny ways. One example is this quote: "You remind me of......Pluto! Once thought to be a planet of the solar system but no longer is."

I love love love his personality and the fact that his head is basically a black hole. I always thought that his head breaking symbolized his ego getting shattered. Seeing that he thinks even if NSR is defeated, his music will last after the fall of NSR.

I could go on and on but I'm gonna save it for later.

His boss fight is very fun.

You start out with him at his turn table and you hitting disco balls to damage him. This is very interesting as you move around him, with DJSS being in the center. He's the center of the solar system in his fight.

Second phase he gets bigger and now it looks like you are in a solar system as the disco balls are now planets. He has more attacks, such as being able to throw comets at you and still being able to move the planets like he's turning a record. His head becomes more shattered as the fight goes on.

Third phase he makes himself even larger and not he has noodle arms. Not only does he still have his planets and comets but now he also has a laser. While this phase isn't harder you do have to worry about a lot of things at once.

Once you get through those three phases you then have to reach him. His head will then crack fully and a black hole will appear, you have to run to DJSS while dodging music notes along the way. This is fairly easy to get through as you have enough time to dodge the music notes.

I feel his battle, or phases rather, correlate with his ego/personality. If you ever pay close attention to his head it starts to slowly crack, like his ego is gradually crumbling. He gradually grows in size to assert he is in control of what's around him, like someone with some huge ego.

His music genre is Disco Stellarum House, for those who don't know what that is, it's a genre of edm but the inspiration could come from disco house. Disco house is an edm genre that mixes the funky tunes of disco with the electronic sounds of house music. You can clearly hear this in his theme. His theme is an absolute bop when it comes on, you can't help but to dance to it.

He is also self-centered with him depicting himself as the center of the universe, but I went over that earlier. I wanna talk about the record cover when B2J defeats him.

They are literally using his head like a basketball. They are dunking his head in a basketball hoop. THAT'S HILARIOUS AND SO FUNNY, just imagine you've been defeated by these "plutonians" and they're using your head as a basket all. Pure, funny, and hilarious to think about.

Dj Subatomic Supernova is a very fun character and has a lot of appeal to him. This may be why people love him so much.

So let me ask you all a question.

very disjointed thoughts on ch2

Please note that this isn't a theory. While I talk about the likely culprits of this case, I'm not making any definitive statements about who the killer is. I state who I think the killer is, but like. It's probably wrong, anyway. We don't have that much information yet.

Please note that some stuff might be wrong because I haven't gone back and rewatched the entirety of drdt ch2. If there's something wrong in here you can let me know.

Let's start with the gym tape. While I've seen many people point that only Eden, Teruko(did not do it, assuming we have a reliable narrator) or Ace could have grabbed the gym tape, but I also think it's possible that Levi could have taken it. This is due to our limited view from Teruko's POV. When Ace is having his home invasion Open Up! breakdown in front of Nico's door, after Levi offers to help him with his neck, Ace has his little we no besties spiel and then goes to his room. I think this because we hear a door slam immediately afterwards. Is it possible he just ran to the infirmary? Yes, but we know the infirmary has a sliding door. If he closed the door that hard we hear a slam, considering how far apart the living quarters are from the infirmary, I'm quite impressed by how stable that sliding door is. He really has no other reason to go to any other room while his neck is bleeding. But notably, we hear Levi walk off before Teruko decides that it's time to let the plot pass. Where did he go? It's possible he just went to the infirmary, but we also don't know where Eden went. Maybe Eden followed him to the gym? Maybe she gave him the sticky tape because he wanted it for some reason?

I can't refute the idea that maybe someone was in their room and overheard everything, we know from the cactus scene that the rooms aren't soundproof, and then decided to pick up the gym tape later. I also can't refute the idea that Ace could still be Arei's killer due to again, the gym tape and the resistance band from like. I want to say episode 2 or 3? Sorry I'm too lazy to rewatch things I immediately can't remember. I also... don't remember if it actually is a resistance band, as I'm not well-versed in gym equipment(Teruko moment), but I want to say so. I think it's fairly obvious some sort of contraption, probably a pulley lever of some kind, was used to kill Arei due to the scuff marks on the playground equipment that are fairly straight that indicate that there was a rope tied to there, and the friction from the rope took the paint/created the scuff marks off as the water filled jugs with the fish in it had enough combined mass to create enough force to snap Arei's neck when she dropped(hence why the handles on the jug are broken), all this to say that the resistance band could have been used to bind everything together, as the synthetic rubber would be unlikely to break even when stretched a lot. In a show with a limited runtime, they're not gonna just drop a detail like "Ace has the resistance band" and not use it somehow now, or in a later chapter. chekhov's gun or smth like that i dunno

Let's talk the infirmary scene. I regret to tell you that my brain is made of sponge and I don't remember what day of ch2 Arturo decides to bend a full 60 degrees downward and threaten a girl only 13 inches taller than Levi's boobs, but I do remember that the conversation about Arturo's secret only happens before Arei intervenes. She does hear the tail end of it, which maybe means the killer decided to run a lap around the place and come back later once they saw Arei, but that... just does not make any sense to me. (So like, how would Arei have not caught someone else just eavesdropping in front of the infirmary? It's a sliding door without anything like a potted plant to hide behind). Basically, how does the killer know both that Eden has Arturo's secret and that Arei promised to do anything for Eden? I'll get to that later but I don't think that's a plot hole. I think this detail is actually extremely relevant and something Charles catches on to in his refutation of the crime.

It's also entirely possible that Eden's the killer and this is an irrelevant thing to bring up, but. We'll get to that later too. I wish I put in more than two seconds of thought before writing this.

Here I'd like to discuss the cliffhanger we were left on, aka Charles' refutation of the time. (Honestly, I don't even remember what time David was in the relaxation room, possibly rendering this entire write up moot but whatever...) Charles is an interesting character in a class trial because his perspective on the crime is going to be different from everyone else. Since he can't be looking at our strung up victim, he basically has to visualize the crime soon based on details orally told to him. In other words, he's less likely to make assumptions than even us as viewers. This is kind of awkward considering I just said he doesn't make assumptions but like. Consider, for a moment, what we've been assuming about this crime. So much of the 10th??? episode is based on the contents of the note. Now, I'm not going to say the note is completely irrelevant to the case. But why are we taking all the evidence left behind that the killer, who likely has no witnesses or at least has an accomplice that's helping them, at face value?

Why are we assuming that note isn't a fake piece of evidence, basically. Not in the sense that it's completely irrelevant, as I believe that note is going to be the killer's downfall ironically enough, but why are we assuming that Arei ever got that note at all? Who's to say that the killer didn't just write that note up after killing Arei, then tore it up and put in the trash so they'd have fewer people actually investigating the crime scene? It's an incredibly smart piece of misdirection actually, considering how good it was at breaking David's mind over the guilt he feels in "convincing" Arei to try to be a better person.

This is why I believe that there isn't a plot hole when it comes to the killer knowing both Arei's promise to Eden and that Eden has Arturo's secret. I believe that the crime never occurred at 7:30, sometimes either before or after that time, at the crime was a spontaneous one after a confrontation with Arei. If Arei divulged this information, it would explain a lot of things.

I acknowledge this is also a giant assumption that's probably wrong. Essentially, I'm imagining that Charles did what is kind of like a proof by contradiction(think the most common way of showing √2 is irrational) and he's putting all the evidence he knows together and thinking "if I assume this is wrong, do other things begin to make sense?" and if you think that the time is wrong, many other things about the case begin to fall into place.

I think a lot of the reason we take the note at face value is because of how straightforward the first trial was, and Min was under a lot of duress. Much of the evidence was extremely helpful at nailing her as the killer(the water especially) and I don't really consider the out of order sign to be fake evidence, since it made the light switch even more conspicuous. I was waiting for the reveal that Min gave the water to somebody only to find out that Min was the killer. Anyway, this is also why I don't think Eden or Arturo is the killer. Not in the sense that they have no motive, but like. If they were the killer, why on earth would you leave that note behind? Why wouldn't you eat the note cookie monster style or just flush it down the toilet? It's just paper. One of the key components of dr trials is trying to frame another person for your crime(like Min) because a "perfect crime" is essentially impossible in such a tight, cramped setting. Eden really has no reason to leave that behind, especially for a crime this good. It's just weird to me that you would set up this whole contraption(which i believe was done to give Arei the least amount of pain as possible because like. Why wouldn't you just bind her wrists and drown her in the relaxation room pond then? It saves you way more trouble than going fish scooping with the water. Death from spinal cord injuries generally??? cause near instant death) and then just assume "they're never gonna look through the trash" cuz like... okay... why even bother ripping it up then... why leave that there if you didn't want it to be found? It places too much suspicion on Eden.

That was a lot of yapping for what is essentially Charles' quote during the trial, "Are you simply saying you took the killer's Arei's words at face value?"

motives!! my favorite. (please pretend this is a good transition) i love thinking about how weirdly worded these are, and why is the mastermind so weirdly sympathetic to Xander? "Your family is dead and you deserve to feel bad about it you were a selfish little boy" essentially conveys the exact same thing and all the "boohoo, but it's not your fault" at the end (Xander is one of my favorite characters I'm just mean) is completely unnecessary in a motive. If you compare the wording of the motives, Xander's secret compared to Arturo's is like day and night. One absolves him of guilt, and the other places the blame on him. Sure, maybe the mm already knows Xander is dead so he's not gonna be tempted or whatever but there's still no reason for it to be so cozy.

Speaking of Xander's motive! I am someone that believes David is lying about receiving Xander's secret and that's Teruko's secret. A very unoriginal thought, considering Teruko straight up says Xander's secret is also missing, implicitly implying she doesn't believe David at all, but I'll explain why. I'm going to assume(lol) that all the names under the motives that have been revealed besides Xander's are correct. Too much mental gymnastics otherwise. So we have Teruko, Hu, Veronika, Levi, and Min. Despite what I said earlier, all the secrets are very carefully worded. Particularly, the secret talks about parents and siblings. Parents, as in two or more parents. Siblings, as in two or more. Let's knock off each candidate. Teruko only mentions knowing of an (older??? maybe i hallucinated this detail) brother. Why would she feel any guilt over any other siblings she maybe has? Next, Levi. I think in like episode 1, Levi mentions only his mother and brothers. So he's got the siblings part, but no two more parents. Min's parents I think??? Were probably implicitly implied to be alive in her bonus episode, at least before entering Hope's Peak. Hu and Veronika... ok I've got nothing other than "I think they have each other's secret."(Veronika's secret is very well foreshadowed I think and so is Hu's) That's not an argument at all but just roll with it.

So now. Whose motive did Arei get?

Ok this is not an original thought at all either. I think it's Levi's. There are plenty of other posts floating around this website and Twitter about Levi's suspicious behavior during the trial, the whole scene with him and Eden during episode 1, his weirdly violent tendencies, Arei glaring at him in initial motive giveaway, go look for those instead. They're much better written and much more concise and they deserve your support. If he didn't want Arei to suffer, if this murder was something triggered(I've noticed there are some parallels to the structure of the first dr game), this whole neck breaking thing makes way more sense.

He's also probably the only one that could knock Arei out quickly before she screamed without the use of turpentineagain^tm. If the killer used turpentine again I've got nothing against that either, it just makes Ace more suspicious.

I didn't know where to place this, and I know this thing is getting too long, but Hu is also very suspicious due to the wire used by Nico on Ace probably being hers. I've also got nothing for that other than "I think her arc has too much setup to blow up this early." Same with Ace.

The old switcheroo

If you could take one Pedro character and switch them into another of the characters universes, which one would it be? Let’s say, throw Dave York into The Great Wall. And what do you think that would look like? How would he do? Run with it. I even dare you to write a short dribble drabble. Well, I just wanted to write dribble drabble.

I'm unsure if my Drabble...if it can even be called that at this point 🤣 truly answers your question. I interpreted it, to mean that Dave and Pero switched places.

Our man Pero is dealing with it better than Dave, though, that could just be favoritism on my part. 👀 It's not all easy for Pero either, just different.

The question could have been any Pedro character, but I figured these two would be interesting.

Two Men out of Time

Dave York and Pero Tovar

Word Count: 1169 (I giggled - I am stuck in middle school).

Warnings: Limited understanding of Middle Ages, insults to ponytails, movie and video game references, William slander (I'm fine with this.), NAKED PERO, implied past sex work, Ogling a naked Pero, implying possible future sex work, maybe some inappropriate touching (I mean, she likely did, let's be real here), I think that's about it.

Notes: Like I said, no idea if this answered the question. This is what I wrote today after sipping two things of hot cocoa while brainstorming because you always have thought-provoking asks.

Silence can be a tool when done correctly. Honestly, it’s the best choice right now. He would close his eyes and try to picture himself back in the hotel, which he remembered falling asleep in, but he did that while he was laid out on his back near a river. 

Did not work. 

Had his face licked by a horse of all things. Dave has never had a reason to encounter a horse, and would have liked that to have been his only encounter with one, but with the horse, came three men. York tried to get up, but his clothes were much heavier than he remembered. The men called him a name he didn’t recognize and rather than correcting them, he remained quiet and nodded. They chuckled and patted him on the back after helping up, mocking him for falling off of his horse and that it was unlike him to not be able to handle his drink. Laughing with the men, Dave saw that they were all wearing armor like out of one of his daughter’s world history books. 

Which time period was this? Is he wearing armor too? Is that why it’s so hard to move? He also has weapons on his back. They’re swords, three of them. Looks to be one main and two twin swords. York was still clean shaven which appeared to confuse his comrades. They mocked him for his face, the pale one with the ponytail mocked him the most. Dave could break his neck, but he chuckled along before making a scowl. The men seem to be heading toward a village, maybe they’re in the middle ages. 

How is he going to navigate this? Is this ‘Pero’ supposed to be an ancestor of his? Wasn’t this a video game? Or that Michael Fassbender movie?

Their group arrives in a tavern where they drink some sort of barley based drink. Dave is by no means a lightweight, but five mugs in and he’s having trouble seeing straight. One of the barmaids? He assumes that’s what they're called, she helps him upstairs, but he shoos her away as she appears to want some money for certain services. Dave knows next to knowing about this time period, but he remembers hygiene not being a top priority. So in addition to not wanting to entertain that woman, the food may make him sick, he also may have rashes and expect vermin. Many of them. Maybe if he sleeps this time, he’ll wake up back in the bed with those two women he’d enjoyed the night with. Even if they weren’t there, just back the bed, in his own time would be great. Is he going to die from dysentery? Is that still a thing? Should he be concerned about a plague? “This is bullshit. When I wake up. I’m gonna smack that guy with the ponytail. I don’t look like a drowned rat. His name was William, he will pay.” Dave drifts off to sleep with anger in his heart for Will. The man in question’s ears burn while he continues to drink downstairs. 

Pero’s back felt good for once. He was on something soft, he rose out of bed too quickly. He’s naked. Unsure why and there’s two women looking at him curiously. “Dave, we don’t know where you’ve been but you can’t come here smelling like that. We got you washed and everything but we had to toss those sheets. The madam will be in to see you to talk to you about it.” For some reason, there were two women wearing undergarments he’s never seen telling him that they washed him and put him back in this bed. They were calling him Dave. He has no clue who this Dave is but apparently he is at this establishment quite a lot. Pero is familiar with this type of place. Maybe this is how the aristocrats have their brothels set up, though there are still many confusing things here. 

Moving to the edge of the bed, it doesn’t feel bad to be this clean, only odd. He wouldn’t even be scrubbed quite like this before meeting generals, lords or ladies. Cracking his neck, the door to his room opened and he was greeted by a stout woman in a silk dress. Her eyes focus between his thighs for a moment before going back to his face. She studied that as well. The two women were behind her and she closed the door on them, locking it. “You are not Dave York. A curious specimen of a man. You resemble him though, not quite in all the ways I see.” The woman moves to stand two feet away from Pero. “You can call me Ms. Magnolia. What should I call you handsome?”

“I am Pero Tovar Señora Magnolia. I do not know how I came to be here. I last remember falling off my horse. Who did you think I was?” His eyes follow her as she sits next to him on the bed and pats his shoulder. Tovar eyes her carefully, he can overpower her easily, but he knows little about what has happened. It’s best to get information first. 

“That’s no matter. You’re clearly not him. I feel that you’ll be more amenable to me supporting you as I help you navigate this strange world. You’re not from here or this time. So auspicious.”

“Are you a witch?”

“No. Just sensitive to the natural world my dear gorgeous man. If you don’t want my help, you’re more than welcome to use what money you may have on your person to pay for our services, but…” Ms. Magnolia stands and looks over her shoulder. “Given your current state, you may have trouble with that.”

“You would be correct Señora. May I have some clothes to put on so I can explore to get my bearings?” Pero placed his hands on his knees, if the madam might be swayed to help him in any fashion, he’ll need to use what he has. Tovar doesn’t see any of his weapons so his body is on deck then. 

“I don’t mind you like this Pero, but I understand you wouldn’t want to walk around like this. I can get you some clothes. There might be some things we can do to get you accustomed to things. Do not worry.” Her wide smile did in fact make him worry, but soon he was brought clothes and she ‘assisted’ him in putting them on. He next asked for food, which she did leave the room to go retrieve. Alone with his thoughts, Tovar closed his eyes. He had on what they call a t-shirt and sweatpants. They were loose, soft and comfortable. Easy to move in, but offer no protection. 

What the hell kind of mess had he gotten himself into now? Pero can’t even blame this one on William and his stupid ponytail that he never cuts off. No, Tovar will always blame that silly hair choice.

So it turns out there were a lot of things from S2 I was waiting to pass judgement on until I saw how they played out and...I ended up not thrilled about. And it's all these little things that keep bothering me.

Things I'm not happy with in OFMD S2:

-Jim and Olu feel retconned into not being in love. Like I know we want to talk about happy polycule but it feels like they aren't even very close this season? They were even more of a secondary ship than Lucius and Pete in S1 but we got essentially no good Jim/Olu stuff in S2. Instead we got the Olu/Zheng Yi Sao romance which on paper sounds good, but lacked chemistry. Especially from Olu's side. I feel like they kept repeating that "break in your day" thing cause they didn't have anything else. IDK weird weird decisions were made. I don't mind the Jim/Archie stuff at all but that was also not given any real romance time. They kissed and then I guess that was that?

-While on the subject of Zhang Yi Sao...why was she there? Like, don't get me wrong, I love her character and her inclusion in the show, but while the build-up in the first few episodes was great, then...they did basically nothing with her. Her entire plan was foiled by a moron in a split second and then..IDK she's now just riding on the Revenge and not even in charge? She's come way down in the world and I don't like it.

-Izzy dying. I don't mind the death scene itself, (though i wanted Izzy's friends on the crew more involved) but I think having him die shifts the genre and is disappointing in a way that feels unlike this show. more to be said obviously but not in this post.

-Speaking of that scene I grow more and more annoyed with Izzy saying "they love you, Ed." Not because it's not a great sentiment that would be narratively meaningful, but because it's NOT DEMONSTRABLY TRUE. Who loves Ed on that crew? Maybe Fang? There was absolutely no moments between Ed and crew after ep 3. They tolerate him for Stede's sake is all I can say. They love Stede. They love Izzy. And then Ed just leaves them and they are probably relieved.

-the way the central problem the whole season with Ed and Stede was communication but they never actually do anything about that, just declare victory.

-the way there was no climax or resolution with any antagonist in the last episode, they just barely escape, swear revenge like they're gonna head into battle, and then retire. Which makes ZERO sense and it bothers me SO MUCH.

-The lack of Stede and Ed costuming. IDK if it's because I've been writing a fic for a year centered around the clothing but like the show feels incomplete if they're not getting to dress up. I was looking forward to Ed wearing more than his leathers and we got a rice sack. This is entirely a personal gripe and not important but, yeah.

-Zero focus on the crew and no new info about any of them. I was really, really looking forward to getting more backstory, more personal info on characters like Roach, Frenchie, Wee John, but no.

And yanno, the thing is that I'm not unhappy with what S2 GAVE us. I like most of it. I love eps 1-6. Though 6 is showing the pacing issues badly. But what I miss is what we DIDN'T get. None of the stuff on screen was bad per se or couldn't have fit into a very excellent, cohesive season of TV. But I feel like all the connective tissue, all the thematic resolution, all the stuff that would have made it shine was missing.

Like they had a bunch of notecards of great scenes and filmed them but forgot to write the parts to connect them in a meaningful way? IDK this season feels a little like a first draft?

Not eps 1-3 though. I feel like they were perfect, and then they ran out of time/energy to polish the rest. (4-5 were also great, but they could have fit in with the rest better ultimately.)

I feel like people who are happy with this season are like 'we got this moment and this scene!' and that's great and cool and I also love that moment but I'm still left unsatisfied by the whole, yanno. Sigh.

Showing up for Tubbathon 2024 was a wild one.

Having your hand duct taped to Tommy's was also a whole thing in itself. At least you weren't working with Ranboo, who had no idea how to cook, unlike their poor partner Freddie. Recipe For Disaster was probably a horrible idea to join.

You and Tommy, Green Team, versus Ranboo and Freddie, Orange Team.

You'd never really talked on stream before. You either communicated through Minecraft signs or in-game chats. If you did speak, however, you'd often use a voice changer to make you seem a little more understandable, as you knew your accent was a bit difficult to understand sometimes.

You'd also met with your friends in real life before, of course, but you made sure the entire trip you strained your voice to sound a little more understandable.

But, now cooking with one of your long-time friends, the big guy TommyInnit himself, you didn't seem as worried or insecure when you spoke. I mean, you'd barely spoken, but you were in a comfortable environment - Tubbo's house - and were accompanied by friends you'd known for a long time now.

The stream had started and Tubbo had explained your rules, leaving the two groups to get to cooking.

"Hey, mate, can you hold the bowl while I stir the eggs?" You kindly ask Tommy, wriggling a whisk out of the jar between the stations.

The blonde blinks in silence, staring at you, "Your accent went 0 to 100 very quickly, Y/n/n" He giggles.

"Wait, what?" You glance about, feeling a little nervous as you plop the whisk into the measuring cup, needing to stir the eggs.

"Not in a bad way! Like, I never noticed your fuckin' accent was so, like, heavy before? You didn't sound like that last time we met up, or talked" He shrugs as he explains himself.

"Oh" You shrug, watching as he secures his free hand around the handle of the glass measuring cup. You begin to whisk the eggs, poking at the yolks to make it go a little bit faster. "I mean, I usually use a little voice changer to make me a little more understandable"

"Ohhhhh, wait, that makes sense" He nods, "Ow! Calm down, I'm not trying to get surgery on my wrist now!" He quickly pulls his hand away, feeling something pop.

"Shit, I'm sorry! Are you alright?"

He bites his tongue, nodding as you reach for his hand. "I'm good"

You gently grab his wrist, quickly and lightly kneading the area for him.

Ranboo looks up, seeing you two distracted in your green aprons. "They're taking a massage therapy break already" they comment, tapping Freddie on the shoulder.

"C'mon, man up, Tommy! You'll be okay" Freddie lightly smiles, cracking a few eggs over the measuring cup, which they'd just struggled to find.

"Dude, I just had surgery on my crowned jewels, I don't think I will!"

"Good God, help me now" You chuckle

Ranboo and Freddie go silent for a moment before the boy with the red hair speaks up.

"You weren't kidding about the voice changer, were you?"

You shake your head no, "Why would I lie about that, mate?"

The two shrug, hearing Tubbo fake yell at them for cheating since they were conversing with you. The four of you jokingly plan a rebellion that you'd put into place for later, deciding to focus on the food right now.

"Tommy, Tommy, the plate, not the floor! If you drop that I'll actually kill you"

"It's on the damn plate!"

Tommy quickly sets the pan down to help you fold the guacamole together, using his one hand to hold the bowl while you rushingly mix it all up. From the avocados to the lemon juice, you got it to a nice consistency, and, with a struggle, get a dab of it on the paper plate you were given next to the burrito.

"I think he's gonna like it either way, considering most of what he eats, he orders." You shrug, setting the bowl of guacamole down.

Tommy lightly laughs, "Yeah, that's true"

You were finished before the timer, luckily, however, Freddie and Ranboo were still working, using each hand to do their own tasks to work a little faster.

"Tubbo, can you understand me with my accent this thick?" You shout into the other room, purposely making your voice and accent sound a bit thicker to try and mess wirh him.

It's silence until he answers, like he needed to translate your words. "Barely!"

You and Tommy laugh, chatting away while the other group works.

"What's Australia even like? Just like... giant spiders and kangaroos?"

"Holy shit"

"I'm serious! It's not like I'm going anytime soon"

"Well, it's not that. It's like the UK but much warmer, and yeah, kinda scarier. It's like a real-life Better Minecraft mod"

"You guys have armored skeletons attacking you??" Tommy laughs as he teases you.

"I hate you!" You laugh

"I love how you say 'you', it sounds so dumb"

"It sounds like how you Brits say it!" You smile, using your free hand to try and fight him in a playful manner.

"Dumb in a nice way! Dumb in a nice way!" He shouts, trying to use his free hand to protect himself from the cat fight. "They weren't lying when they said you Aussies fight like wild animals, what's next, you gonna kick the shit out of me?" He asks, egging you on.

"I'm gonna kick you in the crown jewels if you don't shut up!" You joke, making him scream in terror, probably killing the viewers' ears as well.

He yelps, falling back as he drags you down with him, having slipped on himself.

"Tommy!"

"Ow!"

"Jesus Christ, they've broken each other's backs off that floor, I heard it" Freddie lightly laughs, holding the paper plate up for Ranboo so they could put the food on it. "I think Y/n's dead"

"Tubbo! We need the ambulance!" Ranboo laughs, "Get Eryn back here, they actually can't get up! The tied hands have impaired them tremendously"

"Tommy, just stand up!"

"My balls hurt!"

"Then let me stand up, I can't when you're holding your dick together!"

Eryn quickly rushes over, helping the both of you stand up slash getting Tommy to release his tied hand from his crotch. You help him up and pat him on the shoulder with your free hand as Tubbo wraps up the time.

In the end, your groups nearly tied, you and Tommy one point behind Freddie and Ranboo. Honestly, they did deserve the win.

"I still can't believe you fooled us with the voice changer, even changing your voice in real life. I swear, you sound totally different," Freddie lightly chuckles, freeing himself from the apron.

"In a good way, though" Ranboo adds, "Your accent is really fucking cool, trust me"

You lightly smile, freeing yourself from Tommy's sweaty hands. "Thanks- ow, holy shit!"

"You think that hurt?" The blonde teases, having ripped the rest of the duct tape of your hands.

"Piss off"

After the stream ended, Tubbo turned on some music while you guys cleaned up. He and Eryn were sorting out the lights, cameras, and microphone while the four of you cleaned up the kitchen. You decided to clean each other's messes, trying to make it a little more enjoyable, which none of you minded.

The music, picked my Tubbo himself, was an early 2000s hip hop mix, titled something like 'Greatest 2000s Hip Hop Hits' or something. And of course, Ranboo and Tommy were getting down to it, mostly leaving you and Freddie to do the cleaning while you laughed at them singing and dancing along.

Tommy was bouncing around, not focused on cleaning whatsoever as he tugs on your hand, wanting you to join in.

"Y/n, Freddie, cmon!"

"This isn't High School Musical, dude" You reply

"You deserve a break!" Ranboo shouts, pulling Freddie into whatever fucked up dance trapezoid you guys had going on.

You sigh and set down the cups you were washing and turn the water off. You spray the water from your hands on Freddie, starting a war as you join their little dance party.

Freddie gasps and smiles, throwing the little bit of water in the measuring cup at you in retaliation.

"Australian versus Brit! Who will win!?" Tommy shouts with a little laugh.

"Hopefully not the American"

You fake shudder and nod. "Yeah, I agree with that, Ranboo"

okay yall i'm def going to liveblog my soc/crooked kingdom read WEEEEEE (feel free to blacklist '#andie reads six of crows' and '#andie reads crooked kingdom' if you don't wanna be sick of me or see any spoilers)

let me just get some thoughts out from the almost-130 pages i've read so far because i got em!!:

the kaz/wylan parallels already!! like i've read some opinions that they're two sides of the same coin but the fact there was already something before wylan was even introduced... at the end of his meeting with jan, jan says "i do wonder what a boy of your intelligence might have amounted to under different circumstances." this is literally the exact opposite of how he feels about wylan. from what i've seen other readers say, at least, he sees wylan as inherently stupid in his illiteracy, and it doesn't matter that his circumstances were 'perfect', he absolutely doesn't belong to the van eck empire. it's almost like, in this line alone, jan - somewhere subconsciously, at least - wonders what it would have been like to have someone like kaz as a son instead. leigh the things you've already made me feel

kaz's personality. already i absolutely love his characterization: he's a dick, an asshole to those around him, but he also has this snarky, almost silly side where he doesn't feel above occasionally joining in on his dregs' banter, while simultaneously being secretive and completely rigid in his own arrogance. he's both unlikeable and charming, and already he's feeling so layered and developed and interesting. i'm going to be honest: usually i'm not a huge fan of fan-favorite male characters that are dicks with extensive skills and massive egos hiding insecurities underneath. i think it's overdone and i'm not interested in it. but there is something about kaz that just completely flips the trope on its head for me and i can't quite place my finger on why that is but i'll be sure to bring it up when i finally figure it out lmao

BOOK NINA BOOK NINA BOOK NINA. i already absolutely adored her in the show, but only from the bit i've read, book nina is on another level. her work at the white rose, the way she completely shifts in her personality for that work but is also so so confident in who she is. the FLIRTING. the HEARTBREAK when she finally meets matthias again. she is so wonderfully written and such a joy to read

matthias is absolutely breaking my heart fr like... when he was forced to kill the wolves... the way he went from feral animal in the ring to tears... damn. damn. the way he's written it's like he's literally at war with his own mind, just being ping-ponged between sheer, violent rage towards nina interspersed with flashes of... oh her skin is so soft... the dreams about loving her hurt more than the ones where i kill her... he must be so tired :(

the kaz & wylan relationship. i knowwww that he's fully using him and everything he does is a means to an end like I KNOW THAT but the way he defended wylan when the rest of the crows were calling him stupid and less talented :( "hidden depths" "marketable skills" OH MYYYYYYY gosh :(((((((((( their relationship is so special to me already.. like kaz is extremely upfront (well as much as kaz brekker can be lol) to wylan about why he's there ("why do you think i'm keeping you around" "i'm good at demo" "you're passable at demo. you're excellent at hostage") which i actually do appreciate, but right now he's also objectively the only one on wylan's side rn, even if it's all bc of ulterior motives

wesper. OH. OH BOOK WESPER. my absolute beloved already. the way jesper can't stand him. the way wylan doesn't back down when jesper comes at him. their bickering means literally everything to me. am i absolutely heartbroken that he literally called wylan useless? you're damn right i am :((( but man their growth is gonna HIT i can feel it now. i see how different book & show wesper are now (i've heard but actually reading it is a whole other thing) and both are so special to me... it's like alternate universes bless em. i'm so excited to read more of them (they are my favorite couple and i will be commenting on them a lot okay)

i really wonder how this book would be if i had literally zero spoilers BUT. reading wylan say "i'm not useless" when everyone is attacking him for just being there (jesper calling him useless and nina calling him stupid got me feeling a little feral)... he's so used to being belittled and treated like a fool by everyone around him but he still tries :( he still puts his all into helping. he tries to make everyone understand that he should be there and that he is talented at what he does and that he's not useless. i think he's trying to convince himself, too

i'm so excited for more jesper pov. i absolutely love this man and i wanna get into his head gdi that beautiful insane little sharpshooter brain

inej... so far she's giving the p much the same vibe as the show so i don't yet have much to comment here (i just love her. anyone who feels anything less than unwavering adoration for inej ghafa is not to be trusted) EXCEPT honorable mention for the absolute thirst that comes over her watching kaz get half naked and bathing himself. the way she just gazes at the water running down his body and his HANDDDSSSS miss ghafa has a hand fetish confirmed good for her good for her good for her

You know, while it's great that Adrien FINALLY recognizes Marinette actually exists, what led to it... yikes. I mean, she LITERALLY only fell for Chat because he's the only option she has?

Also, the lukanette and marigami is going strong as always.

At this point... I'd prefer if her love interest was a BED, poor girl deserves a break.

I mean people have been saying the LS isn't reversed, it's complete. I think her feelings for Adrien are "cooling down" bc they're so heavily associated with losing the miraculous, so she just feels anxious and avoidant whenever they're brought up now. It's like Luka says, she's not really falling out of love with him, she's just really confused and mentally unwell bc of everything going on around her with the miraculous (since he knows her identity, he KNOWS this is why).

Also she's second guessing her love for him bc she doesn't know if she was not really in love with him after realizing how little she really talked to him (or so she assumes). But in the end she still sees him as she described in her practice confession to CN which is most definitely the real Adrien- someone sweet, sincere, and generous. She knows more about him than she thinks.

Marinette is ALSO in love with CN not bc he's her only choice now- she wants NO CHOICES if she can help it. It's why she's crying at the end of Determination, she wasn't looking for a rebound to ignore her feelings for Adrien, far from it. She's despairing over the fact that she has to deal with maybe another catastrophe that will be bc of her love for someone again, feelings she can't help. Not understanding why she was swooning for him and feeling sorrow when he says they're only partners after she expressed her tender affection for ONLY him, I think they are both signs she is in love with him because he's CN.

But tbh it's Mari so despite all this she will still somehow twist things to avoid thinking about Adrien lmao. She's gonna be juggling. Unlike Adrichat who has gotten his closure with LB so he can finally focus on Marinette, Marinette has not confessed to either Adrien or CN, nor has she been fully rejected by either of them.

So yeah. Messy messy.

hihi dnana, super sorry I took so so long to get to this one in particular, I got backed up with work and school haha. And I'm so sorry to hear that, they definitely blew it out of proportion and that's kind of a bit immature on their part. Rest assured I love getting asks and hearing opinions, they fuel my yaoi passion (✷‿✷)

I'd love to answer for the other ships but I think I've only got energy for Goyuu rn lol. And damn am I gonna have to rack my smut filled brain for this one. I've never really been taken by any of the jjk characters cuz on the first watch, to me it was just like any other shonen. Reading a lot of what the fandom had to say over the last few years has definitely changed my opinion.

Gojo and Yuuji were definitely the first two characters that stuck out to me most in the series, (mostly bc of that almost kiss but oh well (✿ ♡‿♡). They both definitely oozed main character energy and I never completely saw Gojo as just the 'super powerful sensei' there always felt like there was more to him and when story began to focus a bit more on him I wasn't totally surprised.

Overall he's a commanding presence, and enigma in his own right and I admire how much he cares for his students. I wouldn't call him a perfectionist because of he was many of the adult characters and megumi wouldn't have so much of a issue with his attitude. But his definitely to be the strongest definitely stems from some deep drive to be what the jujutsu society needs him to be. And that I think is one of the sadness things about him.

Which is kind of where Yuuji kind of comes in. Like any regular person after watching jjk 0, I couldn't help but look for parallels between Yuuji and Geto. Not purely because of their connections to Gojo but because of their personalities which are quite similar. But where Geto's WAS a quiet kind of optimism and support Yuuji is more open, more rooted in the world around him. I'm not particularly fond of happy-go-lucky toxic positivity protagonists but there's about Yuuji that doesn't quite reach those extremes. He's kindness and slight hero complex is what leads him to assume the weight of the world his shoulders but the very admirable thing about him is that he doesn't break, no matter how weak he is in the face of it all because, undeniably, unlike other protagonists, you can't trust plot armour to work for him. All you know is that Gege doesn't want him happy.

What draws me to them as one of the best ships in the show tho, aside from the yummy teacher/student dynamic, is how cute the look together. Sue me but there's something inherently attractive about their color pallette and height difference. They're so funny and goofy together and Yuuji's ability to match other's energy and brighten the atmosphere is definitely something Gojo deserves to have around more frequently. Similarly I think Gojo's experience with Geto can help him reach out to Yuuji in times the younger male needs to understand not everyone can be saved. There's also this personal thing of mine where I view them as, Yuuji admires Gojo's strength, Gojo sees Yuuji's potential as someone to stand with him at the top (not like Yuuji gonna be topping in any other aspects of ya know what I mean).

All in all, it just makes me so happy seeing the two of them together, there's a lot of potential their dynamic and personalities leave up to exploration. Being teacher and student I also think there'll be a lot of nuance to their relationship if they did fall in love.

But yeah as for theories, they'll be under the cut Big shout out to my friend CL for helping me like, break the show down and get ideas going and thinking of a few of these first

(Also heads up, I just finished typing out Shrike's theories and it's long as hell so big read ahead)

Okay so some Shrike thoughts

He's canonically the last of his species, but he doesn't seem too torn up about it like Beebs seems to be about his own past, so is he just really good at hiding that pain or does he genuinely have no regrets?

If he is hiding his pain, the Terran obsession could be his coping mechanism, he hides in El Bandito cartoons so he doesn't have to face the truth that once he's gone, his whole species is

On the flipside, in the show, he seems to sleep just fine, dreams about normal things, never seems to have anything bothering him consciously or subconsciously, so I actually think he's genuinely fine over being the last of his species

I'll get back to that in a minute though, for now I'd like to look at his style: we know he wears a suit he got from being a member of LAW, and his guns match his suit/shoes, so I imagine he got the guns with the suit and was trained by LAW how to use them

He also claims "this is all I know!" when Beebs tells him to stop shooting in ep 3 so it's not hard to imagine he went straight from knowing little about fighting into LAW (unlike Beebs, who I'll get to)

With his LAW history in mind and seeming lack of care about the eradication of his species, it makes me wonder if the two could be connected

There's the Hunted theory, the Superman theory, and the Bad Alien theory, two of which involve the storage crystal in the back of his head

Said crystal appears to be very important; it's limited, but it is hammer space, it could have a ton of practical uses, and would likely be something that bad people wanna get ahold of, plus in ep 2 (which is HEAVY with foreshadowing, even with stuff that happens in the episode itself) they point out Shrike's crystal several times, calling him the Mother Crystal, showing Beebs looking between Punti's crystal and Shrike's, even Dr. Agnes tried to pull it out of his head at one point, so I'm thinking someone's gonna want it

In comes the Hunted theory: Shrike's species is born with these crystals, or they're at least given at birth/a young age (with Shrike saying he's had his since forever in ep 2), but since they're so useful, other aliens started hunting his species down to kill them and take the crystals. Shrike was taken on to LAW bc he was one of the last few of his kind n they wanna keep an eye on them

Literally as I was typing I thought of another theory, the Foreshadowing theory: The way Shrike talks about what happened to him (LAW setting him up with a dumb job after) makes me think it was actually more like a mass extinction, much like how Punti is the last of his kind after a mass extinction, one that LAW showed up afterwards to find and take the last one into custody, though in this theory, I think Shrike's crystal and the multiple comparisons between Shrike and Punti may point to Shrike being the only one of his kind with that crystal in his head

Which is also the case in the Superman Theory, where his family knew they were all gonna die, so they put Shrike in a pod (either being born with or given the crystal) and sent him off to protect him as they all die (which yeah isn't original but come on, baby Shrike)

Finally there's my favorite theory (NOT the one I believe in the most, just the one I think is the most fun to write for), the Bad Alien theory: why would Shrike be so carefree about his whole species being dead? Well what if they were actually a horrible species, like the Krill in Orville? They're blood-thirsty conquerors responsible for wiping out plenty of other species, and something about Shrike (maybe the crystal?) made him different and decide this wasn't okay, so he finds a way to work for LAW and be their spy on the inside, helping his species get captured and killed as punishment for all the pain and destruction they've caused while Shrike gets a job for helping them out so he can stay on his feet

Also not a theory or anything, I just love the detail that Shrike's chair in the Bucket has a spot on the headrest that's been scratched out by Shrike's gem, idk how they thought of that but that's so smart

Anyway that's enough about Shrike, let's get on to Beebs

Beebs oh man, sweetie, my baby boy, he has got to have a sad fuckin backstory. He's missing 3 of his 4 limbs, he implies he's lost at least one loved one, he's just so iudhfishuis I love him

Anyway, in episode 3 when he's talking to Us, he mentions he's been through losing someone "once or twice", which to me points to the possibility that he lost his partner or his family, but tbh I think he lost his wife (or whatever gender partner you prefer to think of him with) and child

He's very fatherly, taking the lead and being gentle and patient and understanding, plus in ep 2 when the Lythop that went in Shrike's head was crying, Beebs was already bent on a knee and ready to hold the lil guy like a dad comforting his crying kid, and in ep 3 he sits in with Shrike and lets him talk about El Bandito like a kid showing off their favorite cartoon to their dad (plus it makes him a dilf)

There's also another character we've seen in promo art, Champion Ajax, who looks like a Walrinian like Beebs is, and his name being Champion Ajax (among other things I'll get to) gives me the impression that maybe this species is battle-heavy and loves to throw down

They're physically imposing and tall, plus Beebs is shown to be a skilled fighter with both his close range hammer and long range grenades; I wouldn't be surprised if he could use every weapon in his light stick thing tbh

With champions and a proficiency in mixed weapons, what if Beebs' species takes part in gladiator type sports? Fighting each other for the fun and glory with the biggest and strongest of them all being the champion

If this is the case, I do think Beebs might've been a champ at one point, but he finally lost or quit

I don't have fancy names for these theories, n they're more like thoughts anyway but like

It's possible he lost his limbs during his run as Champion and that led him to quit (he didn't seem interested in getting any more parts of him made mechanical, as evidenced by his response to Shrike telling him to get an internal translator)

But the way sadder option is that whatever took his limbs is also what took his family, like some kind of explosion or something, or even worse, something that he did caused it

If you'll notice, sometimes when he opens his mouth wide, you can see two weird, round "teeth" in the corners of his mouth, which come to find out are actually where his tusks should be (side note: BLESS the artist who drew him with his tusks that one time, I love it)

So why doesn't he have his tusks? Were they cut off because he quit being Champion? Maybe he was blamed for the death of his family n cutting off tusks is a sign of shame/exile

Him being exiled may count for why he's in Monkey Wrench right now, like in ep 3 he clearly wasn't sure he was cut out for merc work so I highly doubt this was his idea, he likely needed a job to keep himself afloat, and here came Shrike

On that note, I wonder about Shrike and Beebs' relationship, cause when talking to Us, Beebs said that Shrike is his friend "or something"; have they just not known each other long enough to really call each other friends, or does Shrike just annoy him n that was a joke? How long have they known each other? Maybe they met through LAW at some point?

I don't think I have answered this before! If I have, I don't mind answering again since my answers switch up sometimes.

For the first part, I just know this ask response is gonna get long so I'll be talking about three of my favorite characters. I have a lot of characters I like...

🐯 From day one, Itadori has been my #1 favorite character. He's just a total sweetheart, energetic and funny. He's caring, wanting people to have a "proper death". First episode/chapter, what established it for me that I was going to like Itadori is when states to Sasaki and Iguchi that he'd rather stay with the Occult Club because he liked being there and he could get out early to visit his grandfather. Like, how could I not like him when just a few moments into the story, he gives away what kind of person he is? He admires Ozawa for her elegance and that is damn beautiful! Even remembered her even though she looked like a totally different person.

Itadori is also probably one of the most badass characters. No, no, because this kid already was breaking records and moving faster than damn cars BEFORE getting cursed energy. He also studied martial arts and was able to hold off a curse WITHOUT cursed energy. He was able to adapt to jujutsu within months. Gojo even mentions how Itadori barely blinks an eye at curses, something that some curse users with years of experience aren't able to do. He's picks up things fast.

I say he matches up with Sukuna's level of crazy. He swallows A FINGER THAT LOOKED LIKE THAT JUST TO SAVE PEOPLE. And later, he barely has moments of hesitation swallowing more of those cursed fingers. He even asked at one point, "Should I eat?" LIKE, ITADORI, FOR REAL?! He's a strange kid and I adore him for it.

Okay, moving on to the next character!

💙 Every time Miwa calls herself "useless", I just want to hug her. Like, she's so sweet and just want to do good, you know? A big sister who trains to be a sorcerer to earn money to support her little brothers. She wants to take up a job that will most likely get you killed (and she almost does) just to take care of her family!

Unlike the other Kyoto students, she isn't as jaded, which makes her stand out to me. It's a nice touch. When their principal assigns them to kill Itadori, she voices her discomfort with the idea and just by that I just knew she had to be the heart of their group.

Even when scared, she is willing to take action. I'm sorry, say what you want about her but Miwa can say that she is one of the first to actually to step up to Kenjaku close, looked that crazy ass in the eye and swung her sword for a hit. And did so, even thought she probably wouldn't be able to swing a sword again because of a Binding Vow.

🍙 Inumaki is great to me because for a character that says few words, he got a lot of personality. His actions gives away just how he is. He seems aloof, but no. He's just as silly as the others. He cares about others, protective. He's willing to fight for others and push himself to his limits even though (like I do with Itadori) it makes me scream because "SUNSHINE, I DON'T TO SEE YOU SUFFER, FALL BACK".

It's a nice that Inumaki chooses to still have some communication with his friends even though it can be a little difficult at times. Like, he rather not come off as intimidating and distant. He still wants to have that bond, you know?

Speaking of, that is also another thing I like about Inumaki is that he chooses to speak in rice-ball ingredients. When I first had that revealed to me, I was like "that is too funny, I love it". And he also has a garden he takes care of. (Seen in the movie, JJK 0.)

Also, with all of these three, I admire their character designs. They're some of my favorite designs. Itadori's pink and black hair with those round brown eyes? Miwa's blue hair with the asymmetrical bangs and the suit. Inumaki's light hair, pretty lashes with those purple eyes (brown in the manga, love either or) and tattoos?

All of that, I just love!

Okay, there's a lot of my moments I love in the series so I'm going do one moment from the JJK 0 movie, one from season 1, one from season 2, one from the manga (so spoilers ahead) and Juju Scroll moment.

💜 I love the movie overall, but if I had to say the first scene that comes to my mind is when Geto pulled up to the school on a big ass bird. That whole scene, from his arrival to him leaving was funny as hell to me. Again, dude arrived on the campus on a bird with his twin daughters and some shirtless dude with hearts on his nipples to declare a war in Kyoto and Shinjuku. And when he leaves, it wasn't like he went "Well, there you have it, I shall release some curses, ta-ta for now". Geto leaves because Nanako reminded him about crepes. CREPES! He was gonna leave regardless, but the fact that one of his girls was like "we gotta go get crepes" and he goes into dad mode to get them crepes was hilarious!

💜 From season 1, the whole Sukuna and Itadori confrontation after Sukuna killed him. Now, you would think Itadori would be frightened that he was face to face with the guy who first declared wanting to cause a massacre when he is incarnated and then later ripped out his heart. But no. Itadori was rightfully pissed and decided he wanted to square up with Sukuna. It's one of my favorite moments between the two. It shows that even though Sukuna is the big bad and will kill you without hesitation, Itadori is not afraid of this dude. If anything, if I was Sukuna, I would be afraid of Itadori. This kid swallowed his finger like it was nothing, decides he'll eat all the fingers and die just so Sukuna can die, and when he sees Sukuna in a BLOOD RED DIMENSION? He sasses him!!

💜 Oooh, okay, from season 2, I'm having a hard time choosing to talk about the Choso v. Itadori or the "I am you" moment, but I'm choosing the latter because I have something to say about the end of it. After all the bull, Mahito put Itadori, I was so waiting for his downfall at the hands of Itadori. When it came in the manga, I was so thrilled. Animated?! YES!! Enoki delivered Itadori's lines!! The animation with the snow, the wolves and the rabbits while Itadori pursed Mahito was everything for me. The rabbit with the broke leg made my heart hurt though... Now, the ending of it and I mean when Kenjaku comes up. I was dissatisfied when Itadori didn't get to completely finish Mahito off, and maybe I still am, but then I thought about it. What would it have done for Itadori? Yes, he would have gotten his full revenge, but by then... Itadori wouldn't have felt anything from it. He tells Mahito that he's just a cog in the system, that he's just another sorcerer meant to kill curses. He's numbed from everything, so even if he did kill Mahito, it would have done nothing much for him anyways. Often in stories, characters get revenge and aren't even satisfied from it. So, Itadori was kinda spared from following into that trope. Also, when he sees Kenjaku, he remembers Gojo and therefore, the task of getting his teacher back. He remembers his rolez his job. Killing Mahito would almost had been a waste of his time.

💜 A Juju Stroll I really like is the one where the Tokyo students are asked if they like dogs or cats. It's one of the underrated ones and it's so funny to me. Itadori is so indecisive, Megumi doesn't even hesitate with his answer ("dogs"), Inumaki is Inumaki and you got Nobara and Maki bonding, and then there's Panda. He was upset no one said pandas.

💜 For a manga moment, hard to choose but you know how Megumi and Nobara were "menaces" during their earlier school days? Yeah, Itadori is not excluded from that. He's still a sweetheart, but at the beginning of 163, we get a flashback. It serves as some backstory as to how Rin Amai knew Itadori from back in Sendai. Here's what happen. Amai was with a group of these other guys who was bullying this one kid. Amai just hung back and not do anything since he didn't want to be a target. In comes Itadori, who was a middle schooler at this time. He walks up and tells the bullies to knock it off. Of course, bullies are not fazed and stupid and decide to rush at Itadori. And guess what? Got their asses kicked. And the whole time, Itadori just has this look on his face that shows he was not playing around. And the look he gives Amai? That was a death glare. There's even a speck of blood of his face that just makes him look even more frightening and Amai is scared shirtless. That moment stick out to me because it comes after the chapter where Amai talks to Itadori like they're old friends and even brings up his "Tiger of the West" nickname. That moment had me thinking they were genuinely old buddies or whatever. No. Flashback came and it turns out Amai hung out with the guys Itadori beat up for bullying someone.

the swing and cinderella 2015

ok hi :3. i got a hyperfixation in art history last year because i had a rough go of it teacher wise and had to basically teach myself and entire ap course! yippie!! (i did have a lot of fun but AH). so i'm going to take what i loosely remember from that class (alongside being an aide for it this year). and ive had a specail interest in cinderelaa 2015 sense 2015. so we get to put these ideas together into that one scene in one of the best live action cinderella.

in art history i learned this painting.

the swing.

i saw a post calling out disney for always using it, and if i find it i'll credit it here, but in Cinderella 2015, I think it's actually referenced to quite well.

Before i get into how, a brief context on some of the themes in this painting (we think. this is art history and almost everyone is dead so what can't ask if this was how they intended it or pretentious people reading too much into things):

a woman in a vivid pink dress is married and is having an affair

pink pink dress + floofy skirt + swing = wealth and class (historical context)

husband is kinda hidden and affiar is "brought to light"

the swing is breaking so maybe marital troubles? finical stress? both?

ankle exposed = sexual

she's looking at not the husband so odds are she doesnt like him that much. especially because she's doing this in FRONT OF HIM

but disney takes this idea and flips it in a way that really works for these characters.

instead of like a 'secrete' affair the original painting is trying to show, there's more of an innocent wonder to it in the movie. this is the price's space. his. in choosing to let her in and let her see this, he's choosing to show cinderella parts of himself so maybe he'll get something from her, like a name even.

he shows her his space, and she reciprocates by looking back and forth between him and the space saying "i love it." because she loves him!! and he loves her, and they're figuring out what that means.

which is why the eye contact here is so important here and the painting. because it's showing who she (the subject) chooses, and in this moment, cinderella chooses the prince.

"I shouldn't" "You should" [it repeats for a bit] "I shouldn't." "You should." "... I will :)"

look at her little smileeeeee. you kind of see this in the painting, but here it feel so much more genuine. she is choosing to get on the swing. she is choosing him and his lifestyle, the wealth, the support (literally. that swing is not going ANYWHERE) which is so much different than what she has, that it takes a second of reassurance that she's not a burden for wanting this nice things.

also. he asks for consent. he doesn't assume it's his right to push her or support her or anything; he wants this to be as much her choice as his, and with the 'please', it is. so he does.

the camera changes showing that he is The Pusher

if we were back in the painting it's meant to show that the husband is kind of clueless. some might argue that in this scene he really doesn't know much about her, so that's why the shadow is next to her, and i will!!

he's going into this kinda blind, hoping to learn about her, but in this moment he doesn't.

the shoe falls!!

so the movie is shot here to more focus on the emotional beats of their faces, so this is the best we're gonna get to get my point across. this part helps to do three things.

the first is kinda a "duh": its cinderella so obviously a shoe's gotta fall or something (an ipod) is gonna fall. secondly, the shoe is flying in the original painting, which is an ohmage to what this is referencing my most favorite though: we get a transition!!!! he's established that he likes her, she's shown interest by making eye contact with him and giggling, so now he's taking a dramatic step. he's going to try to have a relationship with her.

it's small, and they have a cute little banter, but then The Moment comes to make his move and...

GAH I JUST DSAIFGERWDG they SO could have made this a wink wink sexual thing (that's literally the painting) but like! they didn't!!! she swings towards him, kinda laughs and blushes, and when there's a pause that almost any other media would have!

its all the right beats and all the right pauses, but instead he wants to know her. he doesn't want to rush ahead, as we saw with the idea that pushing the swing and putting on the shoe requires moments of pause and a "is this ok?", kissing would be too much. it's too soon. not without some kind of opening up first on her end. so i think that's part of the editing of this scene.

he's NOT the guy "ruining a marriage" or having a casual affair with a married woman. he's a man of honor trying to become at least freindly with a woman he likes

Chapter 8

So unfortunately this week I have no sketches for the chapter due to slight burn out and work related reasons (also I had completely forgotten we get introduced to the pilgrims minus Sanzang in this chapter and their designs are anything but ready). As a result, I'm just going to write my thoughts.

First things first: Guanyin. I love Guanyin. They're just so calm about being attacked by two monsters and letting Hui'an handle combat. It also shows the sheer difference in strength between the four disciples, after seeing the trouble that he went through fighting Sun Wukong. Guanyin is a true being of mercy, not really making a big fuss out of being attacked and I commend them for it, I would be chewing Zhu and Sha's heads off. Though the "Perhaps in Two or Three Years" answer they gave the great Immortal, I'll need to pay attention to how much time passes to see if that's accurate (but I recall the full journey takes 14 years? Correct me if I'm wrong).

Next up: Sha Wujing. So after I'd previously read the Abridged Version, I was utterly confused as to why the Jade Emperor was petty enough to punish this poor man for BREAKING A CUP. Then I found a comic by antidotefortheawkward that explained how breaking a cup could be seen as a signal to attack. And I was like "...ah. That makes more sense now." Still a little petty, not hearing him out, but it made sense that it would be his first thought. Especially if he was cast out AFTER Sun Wukong's Havoc. I don't think we got a clear answer on that timeline (again feel free to correct me!). Even if he did eat people, I still love this pilgrim and can't wait for his chapter.

Next: Zhu Wuneng, aka Zhu Bajie. Quick to lower his weapon for a woman, lol. Jokes aside, it seems as though he's very unlucky with women (and vice versa). There is his flirting with the Moon Goddess (which is still unclear if it was consensual or unwelcomed, that would change my opinion of how this all went down), him killing his new form's mother and siblings (I've heard people say human flesh tastes like pork, so I guess that's where he got the taste for it, huh?), and the death of Second Elder Sister Egg (and him getting all her stuff). Unlike Sha Wujing, it does feel like Zhu Wuneng was begging a lot more for mercy. But Guanyin chose to believe his intent as being genuine, so he will be the next disciple.

Next: OUR DRAGON BOY. I'm gonna call him Bai Longma, as that's the name most know him by. I feel out of all of these, his punishment was the most unfair, and the fact that his father went to the Jade Emperor and seemed to be just fine with a DEATH SENTENCE honestly kills me. Like, I feel as though everyone was so on edge after Sun Wukong that punishments just amped up. I am glad Guanyin immediately jumped to his defense, and as a result got Sanzang a much better mount than any old horse.

And finally: Sun Wukong. Our old monkey. And the start of my favorite relationship in the story (the friendship between Guanyin and Wukong). Sun Wukong is still very bitter of Tathagata's trick but appears willing to do what he must to get free, though knowing what I do, I'm already thinking "Uh huh. Sure. Whatever you say, Great Sage" in a sarcastic tone. But that's for another chapter.

And with that, Guanyin continues their own journey to Chang'an to find our Tang Sanzang.

All in all, a very short but important chapter, setting the stage for journey and meeting the key players.

I probably will be doing more writing than drawing for the next few chapters (minus the intro to Sanzang), to both get off this burn out and because I don't recall any characters that show up more in the story aside from these chapters, so I don't see a point in making a design for them.
