Currently writing and re-writing the lore and timeline for my Three Of A Kind AU.
But here is the timeline/order for the events that happened,(Feel free to ask about anything)
-Brozone breaks up (24 years before the first movie)
-Clay returns (one or two weeks?)
-Floyd starts his solo career and befriends DJ Suki and Guy Diamond (A month later)
-Grandma Rosiepuff's dies.Clay ,Floyd and Branch turn grey but not completely (3 years later)
-Poppy's egg was born,her mom dies (On that year's Trollstice)
-The Great Escape happens (A year later on the Last Trollstice)
-Branch trips...the tunnels start to collapse...Clay goes back for him...King Peppy grabs Floyd.
-Floyd escapes with the rest of the Pop Trolls.He thinks Clay and Branch died as they were never found when King Peppy went back.Floyd becomes completely grey.
-Clay manages to save Branch before they get crushed by the debris.But getting trapped on the other side.Clay tries to look for another tunnel exit...Only to be knocked out by some falling rocks and get trapped underneath it.
-Viva finds them and tries to help Clay.She hands Branch to Zandra and Clover and instructs them to take him and the 4 other trollings that were left behind and some other trolls to the exit unaware that it had collapsed.
-She gets Clay out just as he wakes up.Only to hear the screams of the trolls that Viva sent out.They discovered that the path had collapsed twice and killed the trolls that were trying to use the path.Branch was in that group...
-Clay turns completely grey.He and Viva take the remaining trolls and escape through another tunnel exit.
-Zandra and Clover found the collapsed tunnel.Some trolls tried to move it but they don't have enough time.The roof was about to collapse.
-Zandra sees a small tunnel opening on the wall.She and Clover lif the 5 trollings into the tunnel.
-Clover manages to get in...just before the roof collapses.
-Clover ends up raising the five trollings
-The Putt-Putt Trolls were formed (A month later)
-Clover and the trollings were found by the Classical trolls. (3 years later)
-Floyd finds Copper's egg
-They soon meet the other troll tribes (each having a different amount of time spent with)
-Kismet was formed (???)
-The events of the first movie take place (17 years later)
-Trolls World Tour happens (A month later)
-Branch got kidnapped (two weeks before TWT)
-Trolls Band Together happens (A week after TWT)

I'm really insecure about this chapter I guess I'm just thinking "Oh no but a human couldn't conceive a baby with a na'vi no way" but you know what this is MY avatar AU so it doesn't have to be completely canon I'm just a crazy perfectionist please forgive my madness guys 🥲 Anyway, it's just kind of a transitional chapter with some fluff and important stuff happening at the same time if makes any sense ?? I'll shut up now hope u like this 🤡

Chapter 5
Chapter 4
After Neteyam made love to you, he kissed your forehead, grabbed your hand and took you to the nearest river and cleaned you up. Your sex and thighs were all covered with his semen and you were all sweaty. Your body was still hot from what happened previously so you got shivers when your feet touched the cold water. But it was a good sensation. The Pandora waters were always so fresh and amazingly blue. It was such a sight to see.
When the both of you were deep into the river, the water covering you until your waist but it only getting to the middle of Neteyam's thighs, he started to use his hand to wash his seed off of you. You started to laugh 'cause the movements his hand was making were ticklish.
"Stop that, skxawng." (moron), he said laughing "Lemme clean you up fast 'cause it's getting close to the eclipse. Our parents will be waiting for us to reunite with the people for dinner."
"Eywa! You're right! I completely forgot about it."
Neteyam clicked his tongue "My beautiful airhead." He slapped your head slightly, not enough to hurt you, just to tease you, making you look at him with a wide smile in your lips. He was the most perfect being you had ever seen. You couldn't believe he was yours. His fangs hanging out of his mouth when he smiled back at you were so cute and sexy at the same time. You knew he could use his sharp teeth to rip someone's throat open but he would only use them to protect you.
After you were ready, Neteyam took a quick bath in the river waters and then you guys headed to the tribe. He was holding your hand and helping you so you didn't trip on any twigs fallen on the floor as you guys needed to walk fast because it was getting dark and dangerous in the Pandora forests. Your parents would be so worried if you two didn't show up soon to meal time.
You felt your cheeks blush when you walked into the sea of na'vi and a few humans reunited around the bonfire, eating their fruits and meat already. You couldn't wash away from your head that only 1 or 2 hours before you were moaning while Neteyam mated with you in the middle of the forest. Eywa, what if you guys had been caught? What if, Eywa forbid, Jake or Neytiri walked into you having sex with their son while they were hunting? You wanted to die just thinking about it.
You and Neteyam were no longer holding hands but you two were walking side by side.
He smiled at you and said "See you later?"
"I don't know. It's getting close to sleep time but maybe we'll talk a bit after dinner?" You said
He only moved his head down slightly in response, still smiling, not showing teeth, and headed to his family. You had just noticed Jake was looking at the both of you, a serene look in his face. You wondered if he was just looking at you two or if he knew something was up.
You knew Jake liked you a lot and he was a father figure to you, since your biological father had died and your na'vi mother, Ao'ite, lost her mate long ago, before you were even born. He died together with many other na'vi in a battle against the Sky People. You wondered how many na'vi had cried over a deceased loved one who was killed by humans. You hated your own species and was ashamed of being one of them. But you reminded yourself of something Jake would always tell you, since you were a child:
"You're one of us, little one. It doesn't matter what your biology is. You live like us, you love and respect our land, you speak our language and pray to Eywa. You're just as much na'vi as I am. Don't forget I once had a human body like yours." He said, sitting down on his heels to look better at your small human child frame and touching your chin slightly, making you smile and say "Thank you, Jake. I'm not sad anymore. If you say I am a na'vi, then I believe you."
He smiled big at you and you went running back to Ao'ite, who took you in her arms, wrapped your legs around her waist, her hands below your thighs and mouthed "Thank you" to Jake. He only motioned his head down a bit, smiling slightly at her.
But even knowing Jake loved you as if you were one of his own children, you still wondered what he would think about Neteyam choosing you as his mate. Would he be against it because you were a human? What about Neytiri? Would she be okay with it? Their eldest son was soon to become the next Olo'eyktan. He was being trained by his father almost everyday. Maybe his parents would think it's better for him to mate with a good na'vi girl. And you knew he would have plenty of options if he wanted to. You weren't blind to the way so many na'vi girls looked at Neteyam. And they were all so pretty and skilled. And the most important part was; they could give Neteyam children. You felt your heart ache.
You realized you were still standing in the same spot Neteyam left you. Swiftly you started walking towards your mom. She had a worried look on her face.
"Are you alright, my child?" Ao'ite asked as you sat down next to her
"I'm okay, mom. I was just lost in my thoughts." You said smiling at her and taking a reddish small fruit into your hand and taking a bite out of it
"I noticed you came to meal time with Neteyam. What were you guys doing that you both arrived here late, together?"
You almost choked on your fruit when you heard her saying that. There was something about mothers, it didn't matter if they were human or na'vi, but they always knew when you were up to something.
"I was just listening to music in the forest, in a safe place, away from dangerous animals, as you taught me, and Neteyam found me there and decided to stay with me for a while. You know he likes to listen to music from Earth with me. I always tell you how happy I get when he turns out to like a song that's one of my favorites." You said, hoping your mother would believe you and wouldn't ask anything further.
She looked away from you with a serious look in her face, taking another piece of meat from the big leaf laid on the floor and said:
"I know you feel something more for the Sully's son than just friendship."
You looked at her surprised and said:
"Y-you do?" With wide eyes and red cheeks
"Ma (y/n). I'm an old na'vi woman. I can tell when a young girl is in love. Don't forget I once was around your age and fell for your father." She smiled
She used to refer to her late mate as your father, even though you never met him but you heard many stories of how great a warrior he was. And you knew he was generous, funny and treated your mom very well when he was alive. So you held him dear in your heart, even if you didn't even know how he looked.
"Neteyam is very special to me." It's all you said, looking down shyly
You woke up the following day with the weirdest feeling in your throat and soon you realized you had to throw up so you jumped off of your mat, ran out of your mother's house and stopped only when you got behind a tree that was close-by. You put your head down and threw up what seemed to be all you had eaten the night before.
You heard the sound of leaves breaking on the floor and you looked behind you only to see Neytiri looking at you, seeming to be really worried.
"(y/n), honey. Are you sick?"
You cleaned your mouth with the back of your hand and looked up at Neytiri.
"Hm... I think so. I might have eaten a fruit that was starting to rot at dinner yesterday or something."
"I'm still worried. Do you need help?" She said
"I think I'm alright. Thank you anyway, Neytiri. You're always so nice to me." You smiled, looking at her beautiful face. Neytiri was the most beautiful woman in the clan, in your opinion.
She smiled softly
"If you need anything, shout as loud as you can and I'll come running to your aid. Okay?" She touched your shoulder
"Okay." You answered and she went her way
Later that day, after you had lunch you felt sick again and tried to run away to throw up because you hated making a mess at the house but Ao'ite came just in time to see you struggling.
"My daughter. Are you gonna throw up?" She saw you covering your mouth with your hand while your face was pale
The yellow liquid falling to the floor was the answer to her question
"I'm sorry, mom. I'll clean it up." You said already going to fetch a cloth to wipe the floor with but Ao'ite interrupted you
"Nonsense, child. You're sick. Sit down and I'll bring some water to wash your face." There was still vomit in your mouth and chin "Only after you're clean, I'll take care of the mess on the floor."
"Okay, mom. I think I need to lie down a bit." You said and laid on the floor "I don't know what's wrong with me but I can't seem to keep anything I eat inside my body. I always puke it."
Your mother was coming near you carrying water in a big seashell and a cloth and looked at you with her big yellow eyes for a few seconds, a serious expression in her face.
She knelt to the floor, wet the cloth in the water inside the seashell that was in one of her hands and started to clean your face up. When you were clean, she looked at you, seemingly mad and said:
"(y/n), did you mate with Neteyam?"
You looked at her not being able to believe what she had just asked.
"I..." You almost denied but there was no use "I did, mother."
"I knew you guys weren't just listening to songs together." She said, shaking her head in disappointment "(y/n), I might be mistaken but I have helped a lot of human girls and women with their pregnancies. I don't know if this is possible, but, you are showing symptoms that might indicate you're with child." Your mouth fell open
"I saw Neytiri when I went to the forest earlier today to hunt food for our lunch. She told me she saw you throwing up. You know how much she cares about you. She was worried and asked me to keep an eye on you."
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, mom... I thought it was just something bad that I had eaten. I... I didn't think it was possible."
"I'm not sure it is. But there's a real possibility you're carrying Neteyam's child. And that's a big deal, my daughter. He's going to be the next Olo'eyktan." What she said brought back to your mind all those thoughts about not being good enough to be Neteyam's mate
"After I clean the floor, I will go to the lab and call Dr Evelyn. She will be able to tell us if you're really pregnant. You stay here and go lay in your mat. You gotta rest." She said, standing back on her feet and leaving to fetch something to clean the floor
You did as you mother said and went to lie down at your mat. After she had left, you were still awake and uncomfortable for half an hour but then you feel asleep, feeling tired.
Meanwhile, Neteyam had just stopped for a break from his Olo'eyktan training with Jake. They were resting, sitting on the floor and Jake was cleaning his arrow when Neteyam said:
"Dad?"
"Yes?" Jake looked at his eldest son
"I have something important to tell you." Jake was looking at the arrow in his hand but looked back at Neteyam after hearing those words
"I chose a mate."
Jake had a serious expression at his face
"It's (y/n)."
Jake smirked and said "Who could have seen it coming? The girl you're always drooling over is the one you want to be your mate."
"The thing is... She already is, if you know what I mean."
"What?!" Jake was angry "And you didn't think to tell the people first? You have a great responsibility to the clan as the Olo'eyktan to be." He looked at him like he was crazy
"I'm sorry, dad. It all just happened so fast. It was only yesterday." Neteyam tried to defend himself
"Yeah, of course it was. I suspected something was up when you two arrived late and side by side at dinner."
"What do I do now, dad? Can I tell the people tonight?"
"Boy, you think with your penis, not your brain." Jake said, pushing Neteyam by his arm. "And is there another option? You have to make an announcement as soon as possible. It's gonna be tonight. And you're still not finished with your training. You were supposed to court her for a while and only mate with her after you became Olo'eyktan. How am I gonna tell your mother about it?" Jake shook his head
"Sorry?" Neteyam said with an awkward smile
You woke up with a human female voice calling you softly. It was Dr Evelyn Miller.
"Hi, (y/n)." The redhead was looking at you with a soothing expression in her face "How are you feeling? Your mother told me you threw up a bit."
"Hi, Dr Evelyn. I feel better now. Thank you."
"That's great. Ao'ite told me you were chosen by a nice na'vi boy to be his mate. Is that right?" She was smiling
"Yeah...." You smiled shyly
"And she told me you guys were in a rush and you two mated already." You felt your face burn "The thing is, something weird seems to be going on here. You are showing symptoms of pregnancy. I have to get a sample of your blood and run some tests to see if you really are pregnant. Is that okay?"
"Sure..." You said nervous
"It won't take long. I have all the equipment I need here on my backpack."
Dr Evelyn stung you with a needle in a syringe she took out of a metal box that was inside her backpack. You saw the crimson blood being collected inside the syringe and sighed deeply, your breath faltering.
Ao'ite looked at you worried.
Half an hour later, Dr Evelyn looked at you with a surprised face and finally spoke:
"You are carrying a na'vi baby in your womb. That's crazy." She laughed slightly in disbelief
Ao'ite's eyes got filled with tears and she smiled
"I thought you were mad, mom." You looked at her face
"I'm mad you were irresponsible. And I'm worried for your fragile human health. But I'm also happy I'm gonna have a grandchild. And this child will be na'vi. Eywa ngahu!" (May Eywa be with you)
You felt tears starting to wet your cheeks.
"Congratulations, (y/n). You're gonna be under my care from now on as something like this has never happened before and we don't know how your body is gonna react. I'll leave you guys alone now." She smiled, put her backpack on her shoulder and exited your home
"Mom, I need to tell Neteyam!" You said smiling
"Do you want me to go to the Sully's house and call him? He better have told his parents that you guys mated. I don't want anyone confused or mad when I get there. I already have a lot on my plate right now." She laughed a bit

Cool things i learned abt the Dora Milaje from the dora milaje training manual
this is canon to the 616 and comics, not the MCU, but it was cool to learn about and definitely impacts my canon compliant AU fic. So it might be useful to others. Its not the full book, not even a chapters worth of info, but if you were considering getting it, do so. It made me look at wakanda forever differently, too.
Joining
they accept women from all 5 tribes (17 in the comics) between the ages of 15-20 to become Dora
They have to bring a gift and be accepted by Bast to begin training
If accepted they are called Kanwata and the process takes 4 years to complete.
Upon initiation they go through an ori ceremony where their heads are shaved and they received their first ritual tattoo. They receive another tattoo each year, an ink with vibranium, until the second and final ori ceremony where they receive the final tattoo after their acceptance from Bast.
Training
They have to learn 7 of 10 languages: Wakandan, Xhosa, Hausa, Arabic, Yoruba, English, Igbo, Mandarin, Swahili, and Korean. They have 9 additional elective languages they can learn, especially to connect to the diaspora and blend in: cantonese, Hebrew, Japanese, French, Farsi, Spanish, Amharic, and Portuguese. They get to conversation and translation in the following years.
In the first year they must learn hand to hand combat in the forms of Ngolo, Laamb, Silat, Muay Thai, Musangwe, and Krav Maga. Once the required mastery has been met they add weapons in the second year. The Dora are considered "living weapons".
In the comic verse, they have a mystical and supernatural combat section. The kanwata training is in 3 pillars: physical, mental, and spiritual/herbal. They study vibranium application and properties as well as herbal practices like identifying plants for food and medicinal purposes.
Essentially, Dora are super smart and well trained so it takes a unique situation for them to be unprepared lol. There is even more that goes into what was listed above.
Structure
The DM have 3 major units: Guard Units, Airborne Units, and Support Staff Units. This includes Domestic, international, and Off world teams in the comics.
Dora can be broken into units, squads, or teams (helpful when trying to name group that they might be on a mission in)
They are all trained in combat and munitions (weapons) but some units are researchers, mechanics, pilots, healers, or apart of a secret division (like the cia) but no one knows who is in that secret division
Kanwata are the trainees, the 3rd and 4th years apprentice with Iya Dora and/or train younger Kanwata.
Ile Dora Milaje is what the group of active, graduated, and fully initiated Dora are called.
Iya Dora is the council that confers with wakandan leadership (Taifa Ngao, the council of elders), determines the graduation passage of kanwata, and governs the active duty, dismissal or removal from Dora ranks. There are Dora that have been re-instated after dismissal.

for tbe atla people who has had in-universe fanfiction written about them (along the lines of tina belcher who came from bobs burger belcher)
your asks are always so strange (both in content and wording) that I end up having to read them like 5 times before I can begin to parse them. anyway I love that you cite tina belcher instead of just. rpf. like the literal terminology for this phenomenon that we do very much have at our disposals. so I even can’t tell if you’re asking “who would have rpf written about them” (which also presumably differs from historical fiction about past avatars or smth like that) and “who would write freaky friend fiction (like tina)?” i’m gonna go with the latter bc it’s way funnier.
i think that girl meng would definitely have written some….things…..about aang, iykwim. zombie apocalypse au, enemies to lovers, there was only one bed, etc etc.
i can also just kind of see jin doing this (abt lee from the tea shop or otherwise) i can’t explain it she just has fujoshi vibes. like, whenever ppl talk about how jin, zuko, and jet should have all been friends in ba sing se, i’m usually like “uhh… why tho….” but now i see why. it’s so that she could write jetko rpf about them.
for therapeutic purposes mai probably writes a lot of really cathartic short stories about her entire family, the entire royal family, and ty lee all falling into a sinkhole. but then mai saves ty lee from drowning at the last minute, which teaches ty lee to appreciate her instead of that stupid sinkhole bitch azula (this is all pre boiling rock, obviously).
at one point mai and sokka find a notebook of really angsty fanfiction about the blue spirit and they’re like, “oh my god this is amazing we gotta show this to zuko, he’ll get a kick out of this,” not realizing that zuko actually wrote it himself as a way to work through his identity crisis. he’s just like, “yeah….wow….so cringey, right? but also, kind of incredible how this writer articulates the struggle of the bisected self in extremis so beautifully……right? you guys think so too?” and sokka and mai just look at each other and silently go, “okay…. we may have made a mistake…..”
when katara was a child she would make up stories in her head about finding the avatar and befriending him and having him fall in love with her due to her courage and beauty and (hopefully, someday) waterbending talent and they would defeat the firelord together and live happily ever after. but thankfully she never wrote any of this down, because paper is a very scarce commodity in the southern water tribe and even she knows better than to invoke gran gran’s wrath on that. she never tells aang. although at some point (in sworn secrecy) she does end up telling zuko (assuming that he’d understand considering he also devised fantasies of finding the avatar to cope with his miserable existence), and he laughs for hours.
during their time together in the nwt, yue’s diary gets filled with all kinds of lurid fantasies of sokka killing hahn (in increasingly brutal ways) and sneaking her out of the palace so that she can join team avatar and they can be together forever. of course, whenever they talk about it, she’s just like “yes I love hahn he is great and I love my people and I would never leave my home” so sokka’s just like “okay girl you do you.” but then during the siege, yue actually sees sokka kill a man, and she’s suddenly so conflicted because all her self-indulgent fantasies were a bit too real (and in reality, he’s way more efficient about killing people than he was in her fantasies, almost like he’s done it before….) and she has no clue how to feel about it. anyway, thankfully, yue has learned how to hide her diary really well at this point, because if arnook ever found those particular pages he would’ve tracked down sokka and killed him without hesitation.
ok bonus follow up to the fujoshi jin writing jetko rpf au: eventually they find it (or maybe she’s bold enough to just straight up give it to them. you know what, she might be) and read it. jet’s like, “uhhh…. jin….. i’m not gay. you know that, right?” (he’s actually been hitting on her for… a while now…) and zuko’s like, “okay well i might be. BUT NOT FOR HIM!!!”

Possessive Brozone Altars
I don't know if this counts for obsessive or possessive characters, but I see that Yandere characters have these altars or little worship corners for their crush or person of interest, I know that Yanderes are extremely possessive (and for me 4 to become Yanderes is a slow step I say JD's body count is 2, the others don't have one, but where there's already a body count, does that make Yandere?) well, so I decided that Brozone has an altar for Branch.
When they thought he was dead (the fact that they thought Branch was dead leaves me wondering how they found out, a mini-fic of that is coming).
This is what his altars would be like, Bruce's would be small since his kids are too naughty and he can't have something big, so I imagine Bruce has a troll size room, which is an office, and on a little table he has pictures of Branch and the rest of his siblings (and to make it hurt, there's only one picture of JD and that's because John is carrying baby Branch), he has a baby toy along with a candle.
Clay's (I know it was a joke in the movie, but if Clay really lives in that cubicle I swear I'll cry, so I'll say he has a little house like the rest of the Putt-Putt Trolls and I say that because he has an altar a little bigger than Bruce's) Clay at least I think he stayed in the tree when the band broke up and didn't leave immediately, so he saw Branch in the distance (a stalker waxed and took pictures and stole things from him that Branch later gave up for lost) He's got pictures in marked and good condition, toys also in good condition and some fluorescent flashlights, because a candle is a fire hazard and that won't happen on his watch (he has a lock of Branch's hair, don't ask how he got it (Floyd also has one, and I have to remember this is before the movie, so...)
Floyd is constantly on the move, I imagine he spent at least 1 week in every troll tribe (4 weeks in the Rock tribe, because no one would have given me that guy isn't at least a fan of rock music, or at least has a rock album) so he can't have an altar per se, but he does have a small folder with at least 5 pictures of Branch (and the damn lock of hair, you don't want to know how he got it), one of Branch's egg, newborn Branch, and others of Branch doing things like dancing, playing, and one with Floyd, both hugging with their brothers behind them fighting.
John Dory, what can I tell you about JD's altar?, Rhonda's interior is an altar to Brozone (or rather to his brothers, but the only thing he has is the band so it's a bit confusing, but I say this, it's not the real altar, not in my Au) John has maybe the biggest altar of the 4 (Branch doesn't have, maybe just an album and that's it) Rhonda's interior is an altar in her, if there's Brozone stuff; But he has more John always carried a photo album that he himself took of his siblings 1 for each brother and baby Branch's was double because he took pictures every 4 minutes of the baby, so he put all the photos around (I say JD thought they were all dead, then he only believed that Floyd is alive because of his solo concerts), so each photo was to remind him of his guilt, he has targets of his brothers (more than Branch, let's just say he looted the capsule and took everything he could from his brothers), When he received Velvet's letter, believing it to be Floyd, he had to pick everything up and store it safely because he knew that if Branch saw him he would be in trouble (it wouldn't be so much of a problem with Bruce, Clay and Floyd, they know what John is like and they know that of the 4 John may be the one who is the most, involved, not to mention damaged)

Azula thinks she would have mourned her father once.
Before that Agni Kai, before she'd flung herself between her brother and her father's flames, she might have felt something about Ozai's death beyond satisfaction.
Zuko does. She knows that he hates that he's killed their father, even though it's what they've been planning for years, but he's different than her. Softer. It's why it's better that he's in throne.
If she'd been in that war room, the one that nearly ruined them, she wouldn't have seen anything wrong with what the general proposed. It was sound strategy, to sacrifice the few for a larger victory, for less losses overall.
Maybe that's true. But their people want a Fire Lord who will protect them, not sacrifice them, which means Zuko's their only choice. Uncle Iroh hadn't said anything against the general's plan, after all.
She can't bring herself to care for a father who did not care for her, but Zuko isn't like her. So she lets him retreat to his room and says nothing when the Water Tribe boy slinks after him.
There are a couple more people that need to be trimmed out of court. It's probably for the best that Zuko is gone for that part.
"Who's next?" Katara asks, hand on her waterskin and a grin on her lips.
Azula returns it.

Saw the JD & Floyd post and was about to say “Maybe he should” but then it just made me sad. Like damn he cares about his family to the detriment of himself, what does that say about his relationship with Creek. I think I remember you writing something about Floyd realizing he’s genuinely fallen in love with him.
you want me to show how much thought ive put into tdau floyd? the funny cokehead with commitment issues? the guy who posts thirst traps out of spite? okay (keep in mind that most of this is just what *I* think and hasnt been cleared with alex, but when i write for floyd its genuinely what i consider in the back of my mind)
i think he was 13 y/o when he went out on his own (1999), began seeing the rest of the troll tree for himself, until he finally escaped on his own at around 15 (2001), a year before the entire tribe was evacuated (2002). he hitch hiked a bit and got to see a bunch of tribes but he only really got to see techno reef and volcano rock city, staying in vrc a lot longer (LONG before barb was in power and turned rocks view on pop from "they fucked up a really long time ago but were safe from them now" to "we need to colonise them back") and discovering a lot about himself in the process
he turned 18 (2004) and, as most ex-child stars do, immediately went IN on hard drugs and sex with strangers, as if thats the test for proving your adulthood. and he had a good time! he spent most of his life drugged to the gills and unable to look himself in the mirror the rare moments he was sober, but, yknow. details. then he got bored. and he went travelling again
at the age of 20 (2006) he left troll kingdom entirely. obviously he stayed CLEAR of bergen town (and silently prayed to whatever god pop trolls typically believe in that his family were safe and undigested). but he saw all sorts of places! places we havent seen yet, with species we havent seen yet, of extremely varying sizes! hell, he mightve met a species or two that are smaller than trolls! imagine that. but spending years travelling, it gets lonely. he never got to connect with anyone. hell, he never even had a real boyfriend! the most he had was that situationship he had that lasted 5 weeks before he got ghosted when that techno troll got back with his girlfriend. (its okay though, he channels his pain into his art, and that was one became his most popular song on bandcamp by a significant margin!)
at 27 years old (2013) he arrived in mount rageous. sure, they were huge, and he was terrified of being eaten, obviously. but they didnt want to eat him! they thought he was cute. and, he wont lie, he liked the attention. he became a novelty, that tiny little creature with his even tinier guitar, who apparently built up such a tolerance he can handle mount rageon drugs. imagine doing blow with stewert little. they loved him, as entertainment. he still didnt have anyone who loved him as a person, but at that point he was willing to settle.
when hes 36 (2023) he gets kidnapped by velvet & veneer, and of course no one thought to look for him. you wouldnt notice if the mouse in your house suddenly went missing. at most youd think someone you live with finally took care of it, and youd move on with your life.
the events of the movie happen, hes reunited with his siblings, he actually feels valued as a person again, AND to top it all off, those two months in the bottle did WONDERS for detoxing. next time he tries pop troll coke he actually feels a buzz! he never thought hed see the day!
brozone reunite, we see the early days of their career carry out in the au. floyd feels like hes on top of the world. hes got his family back, hes back in pop village (albeit, its a different pop village than he knew. hell, they used to all it troll village back then!) hes releasing actual music again, and not just busking for tips (its okay he didnt need much, he rented out a mouse hole for cheap). but he wants an actual connection. he wants a relationship. but hes never actually had that! hes never even felt respected by a potential partner! so he goes back to random hookups. and, yknow, its fun, he guesses. but he wants more
the first troll who seems to actually take interest in him as anything more than a hot piece of ass or "that guy from brozone" rocks his world. hes ashamed to admit that after knowing the guy for 3 hours he already thought about spending the rest of his life with him. he just wasnt used to being spoken to like a person by anyone other than immediate family members! its okay though, he couldnt scare him off, because he was being paid to be there, and after recording himself getting in floyds pants (the only way he knows how to show affection at this point) it was all over the internet
so, you know, obviously floyd wasnt doing great. hes gotten good at hiding his feelings (not like anyone really cares about them anyway) but he was clearly struggling. he did what he does best, and turned it into a joke, so maybe itd hurt a little less. he probably made it worse, but at least he was numb now. he goes back to hookups, deciding hell never have an actual boyfriend, hell never get married, and hes okay with that. well, hes clearly not, but its not like anyone ever asked, so he has to deal.
then he meets creek. and at this point hes not stupid. hes not that naive little kid anymore, and when he wakes up the next morning and realises his newest one night stand was that guy, the asshole, the one who everyone hates, he knows hes the butt of the joke, again. theres probably a camera, again. he leaves before creek wakes up.
but then he meets him again, a few days later. and creek says how much of a shame it is he never got his digits. and floyd doesnt know what to make of this. but he knows he shouldnt trust him. he heard everything riff said about him, everything BRANCH said about him. he knows every one of creeks crimes. but maybe he just wants to have some fun, yknow? everyones always fucking with him, maybe he wants to play around sometime. show the world hes not some little helpless doll.
what follows is about a year and a half of gay chicken on expert mode. creek pretends to love floyd. floyd pretends he doesnt know creeks pretending. floyd feels in control, almost. he gets comfortable. he refuses to believe its love, how could it be love? theyre awful to each other. but its, technically, his first real relationship. he tries not to think about it.
maybe encouraging creek to propose was a little more than seeing how far he can push him before he snaps. maybe he wanted to prove that hes worth it, even if the other guy wasnt. maybe he genuinely cried when he got angelinas egg, even if hed rather die than let creek see him express genuine emotions. he knows hes the sensitive one, but hes more than brozone. hes a person. a person that people dont ever seem to want to know.
then he realises. hes not the only one whos gotten comfortable. creek looks... not happy, exactly. but content. and floyd thinks thats terrifying. its too far, thats not how any of this was supposed to work. it was REVENGE. floyd was fucking with him, because creek was fucking with him first! now hes married, hes MARRIED, with KIDS, TWINS! THAT HE NAMED! and he loves them! and he loves creek! and creek loves him! hes gonna be sick. he cant do this. he cant be here. he lives in a mansion but its suffocating him. he leaves. he divorces creek.
hes miserable again. jd doesnt notice bc hes "the sensitive one", and his other brothers dont know how to bring it up without making it worse. branch is the only one who asks how hes holding up, but he just says hes fine, hell bounce back. he doesnt bounce back
when he meets creek again, he wants to cry. he wants to get on his hands and knees and beg him to take him back, but he has a LITTLE bit of self respect left. when he finds out creek missed him too its more than he can take. when they get drunk, and floyd forces jd to re-marry them, floyd actually feels like a person. a broken person, who healed in a creek-shaped mould, but a person nonetheless. and maybe thats all he can ask for

I was tagged by @echo-bleu and @dreamingthroughthenoise and it was very difficult to select only five fics for each category but here's my Must Read fanfics list, mostly Silmarillion but with a few LotR and one Hobbit. Also, I cheated at some point so you have one more fic rec as a treat

Summary: Elrond and Elros are sent to live with their distant cousins in a house that is crumbling slowly to pieces. They aren't especially happy about this. For Maedhros and Maglor, the twins are a rare chance to start living again.
Why you should read it: This is a whimsical, heartwarming yet bittersweet at times story about finding one’s place in a new world and what makes a family, grappling with the ghosts of the past and the pain of being a child left behind. Also the most exquisitely written modern AU (the style is just chef's kiss!) I’ve read so far, 100% recommend it!
Maglor is an Eldritch Horror by @thescrapwitch
Summary: After thousands of years singing to the sea, Maglor has become something strange and terrifying. But he still loves his family, and his family still loves him.
Why you should read it: Sometimes, family is a Half-Elf, his wife, their children, a shy and whimsical bard and the Eldritch kidnap grandfather who haunts the house; or how to write slightly creepy fluff. This series is pure heartwarming material and giving Elrond the happiness he desserves.
The Day the Horse-Lord wed the Lady of the Seas by @colinnoahmayhare (rated M)
Summary: After the War of the Ring, Lothíriel, Princess of Dol Amroth, finds herself at the receiving end of the search for peace and prosperity by being used as a pawn in an alliance made between kings and princes. Married to the King of the Riddermark, Éomer, she has to navigate being a foreigner in a foreign country, being a Queen to a King, and to learn to live and love with a man she hardly knows.
Why you should read it: This story is an intricate, gut wrenching exploration of what happens in Rohan after the War of the Ring, featuring delightful worldbuilding, lots of politics, revenge and honour. Now with Familial TraumaTM and Couple AngstTM for extra flavour!
And the Stars Shine the Same by @runawaymun (rated M)
Summary: After the Éothéod revolt against the Wainriders, the northern tribes seek to form strong alliances with their neighbors. Lord Frumgar tasks his son Fram to lead the delegation to Imladris. With him, he brings gold, fine horses, and two young thralls chosen by his father to be given to Lord Elrond himself. Elrond is conflicted to say the least.
Why you should read it: Do you like pre-canon Third Age history? Do you like worldbuilding about a few names from the Appendixes of LotR? Do you like found family and Good Dad Elrond? Do you like complex characters learning how to live with their traumas? This story is for you! (Just mind the warnings in the tags)
The ghost you dress up as (knows how to haunt) by @deadqueernoldor (rated M)
Summary: Maedhros was not the first Finwëan to be captured and taken to Angband, nor did he remain there the longest. Ranyatinwë, twin of Caranthir, was the first.
Why you should read it: Tinwë is such a complex character, 50% spite and 50% trauma, and this whole story is so, so promising already! (Really, you should read all the Strength of our Bonds series for extra unhinged, spiteful and unrepentant kinslayer Tinwë. I support women’s rights but in Tinwë’s case I firmly support women’s wrongs). This is pure post-Angband angstfest and dysfunctional siblings caring for each other in their weird way. If angst can be a comfort story, I found it.
Recommend up to 5 single chapter fics/one-shots (long or short) from 2023 that everyone should read.
Life in Miniature by @thescrapwitch
Summary: Turgon uses his hobby of building cities to recreate Gondolin, this time on a much smaller scale.
Why you should read it: For re-embodied Finwëan rebuilding their relationships as they work together on a miniature city; a heartwarming and really nice metaphor.
Hearth Fire by @dreamingthroughthenoise
Summary: Findis and Feanor speak before the Flight of the Noldor and share in their grief the best they can.
Why you should read it: Because there are so few stories centered around Findis and her feelings about her family and this one is so interesting and well written. Also, Findis is my Blorbo and everyone should read about her until they're consumed by the Blorbo.
your veins are empty of dust by @echo-bleu
Summary: Anairë finds her late one day in her workshop, surrounded by slabs of stone larger than her. Nerdanel is hammering forcefully at one of them, the barest hints of an elven shape already taking form in the marble. Bitter, stinging tears run down her cheeks and into her collar, and her arms ache with exhaustion.
The body is only barely sketched, but the face is already chiselled, smooth curves and angular cheekbones.
Fëanáro emerges out of the marble, looking like he’s about to take life.
Why you should read it: For a heartbreaking dive into Nerdanel's grief, her friendship with Anairë and how Nerdanel's art becomes her way to cope with loneliness and grief.

Why you should read it: Because these may be the 740 most impactful words I've read about Elwing since I discovered the Silm fandom.
soldier keep on marching on (waiting on that morning sun) by songofswiftsunrise
Summary: Boromir lives. The world is the smallest bit brighter for it.
Why you should read it: Do I need a more convincing argument than what the summary says? Boromir lives and everyone is happier. I love a good fix-it and this one is very well written indeed.
Recommend up to 5 fics NOT from 2023 that everyone should read (oldies but goodies.)
The Carpenter’s Son by Zimra (rated M, warning for rape/non-con)
Summary: An untold story of conquered Dor-lómin, in which an Easterling carpenter has a child by his Hadorian slave.
Why you should read it: This story explores in a very interesting way a par of canon that is almost never mentionned (except in the Narn). The main character is attaching and I really cared for her and her son. The hindsights in the slavers' minds are chilling with their realism and this whole story is just so well written. Also, it ends on a note of hope.
And what I am needs no excuses by aurembiaux
Summary: Sam has always been in love with Frodo. It's only that it takes him forty years to realize that he is.
Why you should read it: Probably the most heartwarming and relatable self-discovery story I’ve ever read; set in England from the WWII to the 80’s, with all the social changes that happened in this time period. Featuring Supportive Dad (and Friend) Sam as the main character and a whole bunch of introspection. One of my all time comfort read!
Mark of a Warrior by starryeyedknight
Summary: After the funeral for Theoden, Merry wakes up to a problem experienced by many a young man after a night of heavy drinking. The ink on his arm doesn't appear to be washing off… 
Why you should read it: This one shot explores the relationships Merry formed with the RIders of Rohan, the grief he has in common with them and how he found his place amongst the riders, all of this with delightful humour and lightness despite the initial situation.
Dancing with my punchlines by LiveOakWithMoss (rated M)
Summary: In which the sons of Fëanor throw house parties, the beer is terrible, 20-something hipster elves act like their drama is as bad as it is in canon, and macking on cousins is fair game.
Why you should read it: If you like a good old modern AU with tons of drama of various sorts, amazing ace representation and general Finwëans shenanigans, this is the story for you.
Old Maggie Took by @deadqueernoldor
Summary: The headcanon about Maglor, second son of Fëanor, lives hidden in the Shire? Yes.
Why you should read it: My ultimate comfort read series; featuring mouth-watering descriptions of food, kidnadopted fam and Maglor being an overgrown hobbit and trolling everyone in ME and Valinor. This is fluffy, this is silly, this is prefect.
Recommend up to 5 of your own fics (completed or WIP) from 2023 that everyone should read.
Dreams of Doom (rated M, warning for Major Character Death)
Summary: “She runs in the dark, alone. Where her feet carry her, she knows not, and her heart is heavy with dread. Someone - something - is watching her.”
Niënor from the moment she arrives in Brethil to her death.
Why you should read it: Because this fic is my firsborn child and I am insanely proud of it, especially since I went so out of my comfort zone to write it. It features two of my obscure blorbos and I poured my soul into it.
Ice Age(s)
Summary: Ice skating through the ages, from Idril learning with her grandfather to Elrond perpetuating the familial tradition.
Why you should read it: This is a fluffy fic, mostly, and it's also a gift for the amazing @echo-bleu. I also wrote it in a sort of trance in the middle of the night, passed out the moment I posted it and had no memory whatsoever of what I had written upon waking up in the morning, yet I still love this fic dearly.
I never wanted to walk in your steps
Summary: Tilda was ten, the same age Sigrid was at her birth, and her world was collapsing more than when Smaug had destroyed Laketown.
Why you should read it: Because I privately call this fic Hobbit angstfest. I took a sad, doomed ship and asked myself "how can I make it sadder?"

Summary: Few know of Findis the Faithful, eldest daughter of Finwë, who never lost hope for her family.
Why you should read it: I took my obscure blorbo and set her in a medieval-ish AU. It's sad and a little hopeful too and there's a lot of Quenya interspaced through the story.
Quiet morning in Gondolin
Summary: Idril and Eärendil spend some time together before the city wakes up.
Why you should read it: I'll put the link to the beautiful art that inspired this ficlet and let it speak for me.

au anon here again :< , ooh in the case of canon compliant fics what are your headcanons?
Oh wow, uh I don’t know I think. I generally tend to just make stuff up as I go? Okay yes:
1. Bharghat is where the Khansaar silver mines are and it genuinely gutted the Mannarsi to lose it to the Ghaniyaars.
2. That there are multiple myths about the origination of the tribes but Varadha’s favourite is a little story about how three sibling adventurers set out to find their fortune and stumbled into Kansaar. He mostly likes it cause this implies that they were settlers and not raiders. Deva however, thinks this is all Shivamannar’s propaganda and doesn’t buy it.
3. The Shouryangas had monopoly over all kinds of weaponry, they produced it, they sold it. Their power came from arms trade. Which is why the other tribes were scared of them.
4. Varadeva have terrible commutation problems.
5. Rama is always right.

Bug AU
Did someone ask for Bug AU info dump? No? Too bad. So trolls in this au are usually 4-5 inches tall instead of 5-6 like regular trolls
Each tribe is a different type of bug. Pop are moths, Classical are crickets, Rock are wasps/bees, Funk are beetles, Techno are dragonflies, Country are spiders.
They're basically like little fairies? Kinda? Its like regular trolls but with bug features. Pop trolls for example, have antenna, wings, and are extra fluffy.
Pop trolls usually learn to actually fly (as opposed to gliding) around 13 so young trollings don't get hurt or in trouble.
Rock trolls have stingers instead of tail tufts.
Country trolls are spider centaurs.
Funk trolls are the biggest trolls.
Bergens in this au are reptilian and kept the pop trolls in a terrarium instead of a cage.
To keep trolls from escaping during Trollstice, Bergen's clipped their wings, involving punching a hole into each piece of the wing. Said hole never heals and it permanent in the case a troll manages to escape.
Pop trolls have different "roles" in their society. Builders, gatherers, (when in the village) scouts, and entertainers. Spruce, Floyd and Branch were entertainers.

Do you have any plans for Moth Flight in your au? I always felt like she had a lot of potential, but her super edition…. Oh it’s bad. God forbid a disabled, young, single mom try to raise children and have a job at the same time. Too bad there was no one to help her when things got stressful, like you know, her clanmates… No women should have a job and children at the same time ever again.
If it wasn’t obvious that was sarcasm, Moth Flight’s story has awful implications. But! In BB Clerics Not being allowed to have kits wasn’t a law until the Ripple Era, it used to just be a personal vow and was a bit taboo. So I’m interested in of Moth Flight still had something to do with the creation of the vow itself? And just in general if you have any plans to fix her story or if you’re just throwing the whole thing out. (Which would be completely understandable.) I just think there IS potential there in her story, especially in BB where the Clerics Vow is actually ACKNOWLEDGED to not make sense and be bad. It could be interesting for the idea to rise from such a hyper specific, awful situation. The Clans having altered her story so much over the years that it went from the truth, “the first Cleric was a young, single mother of four, trying to raise her children while morning her husband and convincing the other Clans that they needed Clerics. The odds were against her.” To the perfect, Cleric’s Vow supporting lie, “the first Cleric had kits. She was unable to balance raising them and caring for her Clanmates. She taught the Clans a valuable lesson, a Clerics first and only duty should be healing and worshiping StarClan. Kits only get in the way of that duty.”
Idk, I just feel like there’s still an interesting story to tell somewhere through all of Moth Flight’s super edition’s bs. In the hands of a better writer who doesn’t ACTUALLY believe that Moth Flight’s genuinely tragic life means that all women who have jobs can never have children or get married again.
There's HUUGE overhauls here. I spoke about it eons ago during the last wave where I was discussing my changes to BB!DOTC, but let me give you the fragments thus far.
It's VERY different. Get ready for Moth Flight to be a completely different character.
MOTH FLIGHT'S VOW
She is no longer the child of Wind Runner. In fact...
She's the daughter of Wind Runner's shitty ex, Branch
Moth's other dad is Cloud Flight (prev. Cloud Spots). Since the Great Battle, Cloud has been wandering between the 5 groups as a sort of traveling doctor. It's a lot of work, there's only him and Dapple and an overwhelming amount of cats who need his skilled paws
So Moth Flight has always been a bit detached from people. I want her to actually have ADHD this time around, instead of it vanishing when it isn't convenient.
She kind of has Military Base Kid energy, hopping place to place with unresolved mental health issues. She probably bites ppl because I love weird girls
"papas can i bring my leeches" "honey no"
Cloud really wanted to train her to be a Medic the way he is, but... she has to learn how to do it her own way.
Branch doesn't help he's a goof and mostly interested in playing games with his baby.
I want to portray Branch as someone who's flighty, not another example of "before the Tribe cats came we were uncivilized heathens without society"
I also don't like his original narrative purpose to give Wind Runner trust issues that don't matter. If she had trust issues, what exactly was all that "please let me join ur group" about??
BB!Wind Runner is a breakaway from the River Kingdom, and the leader of the loosely united Moor cats. She created the Wind Coalition and is its intense, notoriously ruthless leader
So something eventually calls Cloud to do his work for the Wind Coalition
Branch: *SWEATS*
Cloud Flight: "..............branch. what did you Do"
Branch: "youre not allowed to be mad at me"
Cloud Flight: "tell me what you did and then we'll see if im mad at you"
The take might be controversial, but I do like the way that Windstar has problems with Moth Flight for no reason. I wanted to preserve it while removing it being yet another case of motherly child neglect, and more of a case of Wind Runner holding unfair grudges. I think it's good drama
Moth Flight's love of nature, herbs, and the natural world eventually prompts her to follow a Hairstreak Butterfly to the Moonstone. It leads her through the winding tunnels, a path that only Clerics will know how to navigate in the future, to the shimmering chamber in the middle.
Through her special connection to StarClan, drawing off the early cultural view of their ancestors as nature spirits (the fact that they are star spirits is a Park Cat contribution and all 5 leaders have their lives by this point), Moth Flight is able to come into her own as a holy speaker and healer. She begins to blur the line between holiness and healing, marked by how Clanmew has only one word for both concepts.
Hairstreak Butterflies also become known as a "herald" type of butterfly. I could get into the linguistics of this, but the old Tribemew word for moth/butterfly becomes the Clanmew word for sacred butterflies.
Micah is not supremely important anymore, but he's there. He doesn't become a healer in MFV, he's just Moth's mate.
But things begin to go wrong when her kittens are born.
All four children are born with a high connection to StarClan, just like their mother.
She takes it on herself to train them, as Cloud Flight had done with her, wiser from understanding that they would learn in their own ways.
Dapple and Cloud Flight never have this connection to star spirits, and they're growing old. Cloud is ready to retire, Dapple dies in some way before she's able to train a replacement
It begins to cause panic in the groups. It was bad with only two healers, but now everything is stretched even thinner.
SkyClan, notoriously violent, is the first to make the move. Skystar was not above the practice of Kit Stealing, taking Misty's kittens and giving them to Petal Claw for her loyalty ages ago.
Kit Stealing wouldn't become common until the creation of the Law of Loyalty, which is only a few years away, but it did exist before then.
They want a Mothkin kitten.
The Wind Coalition, of course, moves to fight and protect them. They call on ThunderClan, who can usually be relied upon
ThunderClan's request... they also want a Mothkin kitten. They need doctors too.
The River Kingdom and ShadowClan are also moving to take a kitten
EVERYONE needs a doctor, and they will fight and kill to get one. They all begin to realize... if they don't separate, there will be blood. People they love will die, and they'll be ripped apart anyway
Moth Flight, seeing this, BURNING with sorrow and fury at the violence of the Clans but knowing there is no other option, tells her children to make her a promise.
"That there will be no Mothkin after you. That you will never take a mate, or give your kidnappers more children. That you will remember that they were willing to kill their own families to steal you, and that you will be loyal the pursuit of life, virtue, and your sacred ability to heal above the cruel commands of the treacherous Clans."
Having accepted this, the family calls for an end to the fighting. Each child chooses a Clan to go to, and has their name changed.
ThunderClan: Spider Flight -> Spider Flight (no change)
SkyClan: Honey Flight -> Honey Pelt
RiverClan: Bubble Flight -> Bubbling Stream
ShadowClan: Blue Flight -> Blue Whisker
They're being shuffled based on which Clan they go to because it always bothered me that their names don't match their Clans, and also Spider Paw going to RiverClan when he has a phobia of water is insulting and I said no
So, TL;DR, this is a completely different story because DOTC is the one arc that I don't value "fixing." It needs a complete overhaul, imo.
This one would take place after Thunderstar's Justice, which immediately follows the First Battle. In terms of timeline, first is Hollyleaf's Century, 30 years later BB!DOTC begins and lasts several years, a few months after the First Battle begins Thunderstar's Justice, and then Moth Flight's Vow follows a year later.

Rating my list of Azula AUs by how much they appeal/are interesting to me now
It's a long list, and some of these ideas are actually quite old, so I thought it would be worth giving each AU idea a rating out of 10. Note that some of these aren't my ideas and I intend no disrespect to anyone. I just want to rate how interested I would be in a story if someone used the AU idea as a basis.
Better parenting Ursa (8/10)-Would be a banger.
Azula raises Katara AU (and continued) and more (9/10)-I've never seen anything quite like this and would be very interesting.
Azula and Katara get friendly postwar and talk about their brothers. (7/10)-Good idea for a short story?
Mai is significantly older than Azula and Ty Lee AU (Older “sister” Mai) (4/10)-Could be interesting but honestly I find canon Azula-Mai's dynamic plenty interesting on its own.
Jin works at Iroh’s teashop but finds out about his past (5/10)-Perhaps worth a shot.
Zuko tells Azula about the Spirit Water (5/10)-Too close to canon?
Ursa and Ozai get along better, and it’s not a good thing AU (4/10)-A little dark for my tastes.
Imperialist Lu Ten survives the war and tries to regain his throne afterwards (9/10)-Now that would be incredible. Lots and lots drama and lots of lighting fandom takes on fire.
Zuko finds out more about his nation AU. (5/10) Somewhat interesting.
Revolutionary Azula takes over Ba Sing Se AU. (2/10) In retrospect it feels a bit too imperialist in tone.
Three different AU ideas in one (4/10) None of them are really that great.
Favoritism in the royal family is a little different (5/10) moderately interesting.
What if Zuko had a nonbending twin sister (who he doesn’t get along with). (10/10) The Zola AU. One of the most interesting and subversive ideas I've had.
Zuko’s daughter changes how he sees Azula (7/10). Could be worth a short story.
Zuko and Ursa try to isolate Azula (“for her own good”) (9/10). Brilliant dark AU, very subversive of fandom expectations.
Ozai gets exiled and the Gaang stupidly ally with him (6/10). Could be entertaining.
Earth Kingdom ends up with custody of Azula postwar and support her bid for the Fire Nation throne when Zuko starts another war with them. (10/10). Pure, wonderful chaos and Team Avatar are really in a bind.
The Gaang tries to figure out why Zuko joined them. (3/10). Might make a good short story.
Dangerous Ladies find Ursa in Book 2. (10/10). Ursa setting canon of fire is always worth it.
Azula and Toph fake dating (1/10). Not that interested in Tophzula.
Zuko/“world leaders” try to force Aang to take away Azula’s bending and he’s very much not OK with it. (4/10). Not too interesting.
Azula is thrown away to the NWT postwar as a trinket and Chief Arnook adopts her. (9/10). Wonderful idea for how to get a fire sibling adopted by the water tribes and have it make sense.
Comics! Ursa’s letter about Zuko being a bastard gets out. (2/10). Too associated with the comics.
Zuko and Katara lie about what happened during the Agni Kai (4/10). Shrug.
An exiled Azula finds Fire Imperialist! Ursa postwar. (10/10) Absolute banger of an idea, although quite dark. Azula and Ursa unite to overthrow Zuko.
Aang has to save Azula from being executed by Zuko (5/10) OKish
Zuko’s defection during DoBS goes very badly for Mai (4/10)
Zuko joins the Gaang at Ba Sing Se, but it ends poorly (10/10) let's make the writers of all those bad Zvtara fics suffer!
Zuko killed Azula during the Agni Kai, and now he has to deal with the consequences. (6/10). Dark/
AU idea where Zuko keeps Azula permanently imprisoned in bad and torturous conditions postwar, and Izumi finds out about when she’s relatively young, and draws exactly the sort of conclusions about her parents that you would expect. Not to mention being terrified that she might be treated the same way if she missteps… (7/10). Could be interesting.
Ozai never declares Zuko and Iroh traitors (7/10). Clever idea, would destroy canon as we know it.
Iroh-Azula roleswap au (9/10). Would be absolutely incredible.
Zuko asks Azula for help with his firebending. (5/10). I really don't like the fire siblings having a good relationship very much at this point.
Zuko wants Azula to like him but doesn’t get why she doesn’t like him (postwar) (8/10). Good idea for a shorter fic.
Katara has an arranged marriage with Zuko and Azula tries to get into the good graces of her sister in law (7/10). Might be interesting.
“Katara is supposed to have an arranged marriage with Zuko, but she falls in love with Azula instead.” (10/10). No explanation needed.
Another take on Zvtara (arranged marriage) and Maizula. (6/10). Good idea but maybe a little boring.
Azula-Katara AU idea (or: Katara runs into an Azula who has changed a lot in some ways and not very much in others) (7/10). Never could quite gets this to work.
Zuko is actually Ikem’s son (2/10). Enough about the comics!
Firelord Azula ends her brother’s exile 3/10. Nothing particularly interesting.
Azula raises Izumi (it’s complicated) (8/10) Really would be worth engaging with.
“AU idea: Azula commits suicide out of despair, and just about everyone is convinced that Zuko had her murdered or at the very least “encouraged” her to do it.” (3/10). More Zuko angst.
Dangerous Ladies get banished/declared traitors and Azula basically gives up. Mai has to step up her place. (9/10), would be a very interesting look at Mai.
I have to say, “Zuko has to deal with finding out that Ursa very much isn’t who he believed she was” remains excellent fanfic fodder. (8/10). Ursa for the win!
“AU idea: Ursa is more aware of Ozai’s abuse and potential for abuse than in canon, so, right after her exile, she seeks out Iroh and charges him with protecting both of her children.” 6/10. I don't find like Iroh enough to really like an idea which had him be so central.
Firelord Iroh treats Azula in a really screwed up way. 9/10, very dark but could have great payoff.
“AU where Azula dies during the latter stages of the war or right after it, and Mai is the only person who ever morns her as a person, not as a politically convenient symbol (Ty Lee runs away from her complex feelings on Azula as much as she can).” 7/10, could be a good oneshot
Dark idea (5/10).
“Since so much of the fandom is convinced that Azula is Zuko’s older sister, I need an AU where this is true and Zuko is just as throne-obsessed as canon and spends all his time trying to usurp his older sister.” (1/10). Not really an idea which stands on its own.
“AU where Ozai has a heart attack and dies right after the fire siblings return to the Fire Nation, and Zuko and Azula have to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, the Gaang are plotting to overthrow them and bring the war to a close once and for all…” 8/10. Could be a banger.
King Kuai adopts Azula as his heir 7/10. Interesting idea
Things get complicated, darkly (Azula exiled postwar AU) 6/10. A little convoluted.
What if Zuko tried to be a good brother 5/10. Zuko is boring.
“I really need an AU where Lu Ten returns and is pissed over Ozai’s usurpation, so he kills Ozai, seizes the throne, and continues the war. Of course, Iroh ends up supporting his actual son in all of this, and the conflict in the Fire Nation ends up boiling down to Zuko and Azula vs. Lu Ten and Iroh as the situation spirals toward civil war, at the same time the 100 years war continues.” 8/10. Nice chaotic edge.
“Maizula AU where Mai married Zuko, but he died not long after Izumi was born, and Azula and Mai are secretly carrying out a relationship while raising Izumi and ruling the Fire Nation as her regents.” 8/10. Maizula for the win. Could work as a short story.
Azula joins the Gaang with a twist… 7/10.
“The chaos which would result if Lu Ten showed up alive again in Book 1 and launched a rebellion against Ozai in pursuit of “his” throne.” (5/10). Less interesting than the other Lu Ten ideas.
Ursa opposes Firelord Zuko 7/10. More good Ursa content!
Iroh tries to kill Azula during “The Chase” (5/10). OKish.
Mai and Ty Lee on trial for “war crimes”“ and Azula has to save them 9/10, would be wonder with a great Maizulee dynamic.

The Princess' Pet

A Twilight Princess AU where, years before the main story, a rift manages to be opened between Hyrule and the Twilight Realm (maybe through Ganondorf influencing another fool before Zant?). Notably, that rift opens in the Palace.
Through that rift falls a 5 yo Link who, exposed to the Twilight's influence, immediately turns into a wolf . Confused, scared and overwhelmed by his new senses, not to mention the entire situation, Link runs around and gets chased by Twili guards around the palace, all set on capturing or killing that beast from the World of Light.
Meanwhile, a 7 yo Midna is sulking and hiding away from her tutors, not wanting to act like a proper princess that day and having a spoiled tantrum. Until a weird little animal runs into her, hiding with her; as every grown up seems to look for the animal, Midna then decides to take it back to her room and hide it there. Why ? Because she wants to outsmart grown-ups ! She'll sneak a pet right under their noses!
Of course, it doesn't take long until the jig is up and the wolf cub is discovered in the Princess' bedroom. Midna then whines and begs her parents to keep the cute animal, she wants to have him for herself, pretty pleaaaase!!!
The Twili king doesn't want his daughter exposed to a Light-Dweller and is about to take away the beast by force...but to everyone's surprise, including Midna, the queen agrees to it. Yes, Midna can keep the creature...but only if she takes care of it. That means not dumping it on the servants or getting bored of it after a week. Midna is thrilled and doesn't think twice about it. She has an exotic pet now !
Except, when she does get bored of taking care of her new pet (because she's a young kid used to get her way), she tries to demand her servant to bathe it...but they tell her that the queen forbid it. And no matter how much Midna cries or begs, the queen doesn't bulge : she wanted a pet, she has to accept the responsibilities coming with it.
The king is a bit more understanding and, understanding that his wife wants their daughter to learn the burden of duty coming with a crown (if Midna does prove she is powerful enough for the throne), gets Midna used to her new responsibilities by helping her here and now ; bathing the wolf cub together, researching archives about Light-dwelling beasts to better take care of him, giving her tips to train him..
And slowly, Midna grows attached to the baby wolf. It helps that he proves to be much more intelligent than any animal in the Twilight Realm; while the servants and the court smile when the princess talks to her pet as if she expects him to answer, the king notices the wolf cub seems to understand his daughter. Sometimes, looking at them play, it feels less like a child and her pet than two young kids playing together...
And then one day Midna announces she finally has a name for her pet : a fearsome one, the name of one of the infamous Champions of Hyrule, these cruel people who cursed their tribe and exiled them into the Twilight.
"I'll name him Link ! So anyone who hears about him gets scared ! No one will EVER mess with us!!"
It suddenly clicks into place for the king. Ans after some research, he confronts the queen about it : there is a very ancient, half-forgotten legend about a divine beast from the Light who could save their people...and that beast isn't only a beast, is it ?
The queen doesn't bother to hide the truth. Yes, she didn't allow Midna to keep the wolf just to please her or teach her about responsibilities. If that Light-dwelling beast is the one foretold by the prophecy, it must be under the control of the Twili, one way or the other. If Midna can't tame it, she will break it, but one way or the other, it will serve the interests of their tribe before the Light-dwellers's.
She finds Midna's idea of giving the name "Link" so deliciously ironic. A "hero" of the cursed Goddesses who banished them here, now brought to heel and leashed by a spoiled brat of the Twili tribe. She relishes in the idea.
The king objects that the beast might not be one after all. It's too smart, too empathic. But it's clearly a young one, barely more than a baby...are they to the point of using a cursed child for their goals ?
"Haven't you forgotten ? Our entire race is cursed," the queen answers coldly. "I will do anything to break that curse. And so will she."
She adds this as she looks at Midna chasing after her companion in the palace courtyard.
The king doesn't approve. But he sees the queen's point, and remains silent. Distance himself from the wolf cub so he's not reminded of the price for their future freedom (if "saving" the Twili does mean bringing them back to the Light Realm).
But now Midna has actually grown fond of her friend and treats Link much better without any adult to push her.
The years go on. Link grows used to his life; he barely remembers the time where he was human, and as his wolf form makes him more suited to the Twilight Realm, he never thinks too much of it.
Midna is still a bit of a spoiled brat but she has matured thanks to her friendship with Link. She doesn't treat him like an animal ; she couldn't explain it but she knows he understands her, is much smarter than any creature in this realm. Is it because he's a Light Dweller ? When she asks Link, he just huffs. He doesn't remember anything but loneliness. He likes his life here. He likes being by Midna's side. He belongs with the Tribe.
At least at one point Link even proves his value by defending Midna from an attack (a spawn of Ganondorf trying to please their master, maybe).
I'm not sure how the events of the pre game would go but I'm sure of a couple of things :
The king and queen are killed before Zant tries to take over.
The portals are open to Hyrule, Midna is cursed and Link is flung with her to Hyrule.
They land in separate places.
Link is now lost in a strange place, wandering for a while, chased and hunted by Hyrulians who see him as a monster...
And then a Light Spirit turns him back into a human. Tells him he's a Hero chosen by the Goddesses to defeat "Evil" (which he's told is the Twilight Realm as a whole).
As you can imagine, he doesn't take well any of this.
