Details: Rated T, AU - Baseball, Coach Reigen & Pitcher Mob, Injury Recovery & Found Family, No Romantic Pairings
Overall summary: After rising to fame in the world of online sports betting, Reigen takes a job coaching the Seasoning City Vegetarians, the worst team professional baseball has ever seen. But Reigen sees the potential in these bad news bears, particularly in their struggling pitcher. Shigeo Kageyama has a missile for an arm, but after nearly killing another player in a traumatic pitching accident, he can hardly stand on the mound. Reigen decides to teach him how to pitch again.
There’s just one issue – he doesn’t know shit about baseball.
Chapter summary: “Hey pitch,” Hanazawa teased, twirling and catching his bat. “How about something soft and down the middle? I want to see if I can send it past the stadium wall.”

Shunning the Illness for the Outbreak it Caused
shunning the illness for the outbreak it caused by gin
Mob stumbles into his house, makes his way up to the bathroom, and throws up into the toilet.
His mind is swirling, head pounding, body aching, and yet he just feels– numb. Hollow. There should definitely be something there – disgust, relief, anything – but nothing's making itself known.
When he finally breaks away from the toilet some unknown time later, his legs barely hold up his weight. Still, he should go and find Ritsu, or Reigen, or even Tome and her club members to check if they made it back okay. He should, he should, he should…
Oh. Through the forced apathy weighing down his ribs, he feels a little prick of apprehension. It slams into his chest with the force of a sledgehammer.

Issho - if you aren't reading isshoverse what the hell are u doin
Old Habits Die Hard - this is like one of the newest iconic trmb fics... its a post canon where they meet again after like not seeing each other since high school? lots of angst but its teru pov so it's to be expected!
Picture me Better - a continuation of sorts of ohdh (the last fic) from mobs pov. if u liked ohbdh ull like this one shot
MOM - we're entering not trmb territory, and unfinished territory lol. this one's about the kageyama parents, and the mom's pregnancy while having mob. it also has teru's mom as a major charcter!
rainspeak - case fic, found family, hurt/comfort in real time!! intense go read
Carried on the Prevailing Wind - ongoing but i like it so far! a lot of premob teru. eventual trmb, or so its tagged lol

Teru finds a cat! for my birthday and Dimple and Teru’s Air Conditioning and Heating Company which was inspired by this comic i made.
Hell & You - a like fake dating/pretending/coping fic, but its mutually unrequited between teru and shou, and ends up with trmb and rtshou good luck

WAWA WEEK PART 3: REVENGE OF THE WAWA
27/3 - Official art/outfit: DEMON SERI (woo) Soooo I wasn't gonna do this day but I had some extra shorts for my Demon Au fic: Hollow. And this one was cute. So have a demon Seri!
If you have not read my fic, let me sum up: Serizawa is an incubus and sucks at it. I mean he can be sexy and all that but he's not into the corrupting of humans and draining them of their souls. Annnnd then he falls in love with Reigen. Here's the link:
DISCLAIMER: While this short is general audience, my AO3 Hollow fic IS NOT. I mean Seri is an incubus so yeah, you've been warned.
OK SO THIS SHORT: There were a few spoilers for the AU as a whole so I edited them out. This is waaaay near the end of the AU. Demon Wawa babysits the esper kids. It's cute.
General Audiences. Video games, junk food, adorable.
-----------------------------
“What? What the heck was that?!”
A wireless controller floated in the air along with the last bits of nachos. Serizawa fell back onto the couch, glaring at the screen with his fangs bared.
“A creeper.” Mob sipped at his soda. The death message displayed on the screen. “They sneak up next to you and blow up.”
Shou was trying to stifle his laughter.
A forked tail lashed back and forth. “My house…” The demon’s voice trailed off, bowing his head as he gave into the defeat.
“Yeah, hate those things.” Teru was sitting in front of Mob on the floor, letting the others have the couch. “You picked up the game pretty quick though. Took me like 5 days to build anything my first time.”
Mob held up a hand and recovered the idly hovering controller with his own powers. “I just went around picking flowers and making farms.”
“Don’t worry, Seri.” Shou nudged the demon in front of him with his foot. “We can find an easier game for you.”
“Oh?” Serizawa shifted his glowing eyes toward the kid. “Like how you play Animal Crossing?”
Shou was about to throw some searing quips back in defense before Ritsu walked in with a filled bowl in one hand and a stacked plate in another.
“Alright, here’s the next round of snacks.” He started distributing the food. “Found some popcorn in the top of the pantry and even some cookies.”
“Score!” Teru leapt up and took some cookies for himself.
The sound of munching filled the room. Mob and Ritsu’s parents wanted to spend their anniversary at a fancy restaurant and later a nice hotel stay. The date happened to fall on the same time the esper kids all had a sleep over planned. Can’t pass on video games, junk food, and staying up way too late. Normally, Reigen stepped up to be the adult in the room, but he claimed to have prior responsibilities- (removed for Hollow spoilers :P just pretend he’s stocking up on ghost fighting stuff or something). Dimple went along just having to see what that could even be about. That left the only real adult known by the family to be Serizawa. Adult being a very lose term. Being 337 did garner him the title of ‘not an irresponsible child’, but it’s not like someone of his origins was used to babysitting middle schoolers.
Ritsu flopped down onto the couch next to Shou. “You know.” He lightly tapped Serizawa’s back with a foot. The wings jerked in response. “We aren’t really allowed to eat this crap 99% of the time.”
“Yeah.” Mob looked down at the buttery popcorn in the bowl. “Not even Shishou lets me have bad snacks at the office.”
Serizawa gave a snort and chuckled to himself. “Yeah, and? You three were out in the woods for over a day on that last exorcism job. And Shou was training with me. It’s the least you deserve to have a fun night.” He glanced over at the kids with a glint in his red eyes. “Plus, I’m a demon. We don’t exactly follow the rules.”
The kids laughed back, enjoying the junk food.
“Alright, now that I’m back, racing time!” Ritsu held up the game box and started switching out discs. “Serizawa, you watch a few rounds first, since you’ve never played.”
“Wait, is that Mario Cart?” Serizawa leaned forward and grinned from ear to ear. “We got this back at our apartment. Give me a controller, you kids are gonna get destroyed.”
“You’re on!” Teru picked up the last controller and all five started playing.
Light flashed from the screen: the only real source in the dimly lit room. Night had long fallen with the stars and moon lending a bit of a glow from the windows.  Empty glasses, bowls and dishes piled up. They’d regret that entire pack of oreos in the morning, but it didn’t matter with everyone enjoying themselves. Cries of rage and victory shouts could be heard all the way up until midnight from the home.
“Are you kidding me!?” Ritsu fell to his side, leaning against his brother with a face full of frustration. “How are you this good?”
Mob gave him an encouraging pat on the back. “You still beat me and Hanazawa every time.”
Teru’s hair stood on end. “Hey!” He glared behind himself. “It was that only that one time.”
“Yeah, and I’m coming in second every race.” Shou beamed with over exaggerated pride.
“Only second place.” Serizawa was grinning, holding a clawed hand out with the controller slowly spinning above the palm. “Sorry, boys. I was trained by Reigen-san himself.”
“Figures.” Ritsu crossed his arms. “That guy probably knows just when to throw a shell.”
“Heh.” A blush. The demon shook his head. “Well, I can never beat him. So I guess that’s just what we have to work for: getting Reigen in here for a beat down.”
“Pfff.” A scoff, Shou chewing on a hand full of nachos before continuing. “I doubt he’s THAT good.”
“Oh yeah, that reminds me.” Mob leaned over and showed his cell phone to Serizawa. “He texted about an hour ago. Told me we all better be in bed.”
Serizawa checked his own phone. “Ha. I got one too.” A shrug to go with his fang filled smile. “What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”
“Any other multiplayer games we got?” Teru was digging through the basket they kept all the accessories in, looking for another disc or box. “Oh hey! Your parents let you buy the new Doom?”
Ritsu nodded, going for another cookie. “Yeah, they don’t really care about the age limits.” He continued through a full mouth. “Guess with what we go through on a daily basis it doesn’t matter.”
Serizawa took a look at the cover. “Huh.” He raised an eyebrow. “What is this one about?”
“It’s great. Lots of action.” Mob started to playfully kick his feet with Teru setting up the console. “There’s this evil cooperation that is trying to siphon energy from hell and they-“
“Mob.” Ritsu whispered.
But his brother didn’t hear. “They summon these portals and you got to kill a bunch of demons and, oh- Wait.”
Teru and Ritsu were staring at Mob, trying to beam their thoughts directly into his head. Shou once again had to stop himself from laughing.
Mob looked at the floor. “Sorry, Serizawa.”
Seri blinked, not understanding the big deal. “Kill demons? With what?” He pointed at the box. “Guns and stuff?”
“Yeah, there’s like rocket launchers and energy weapons.” Teru answered.
The demon held back a chuckle, eyes glowing brighter. “Yeah no. That won’t work.”
Ritsu handed him the controller for player one. “Alright. Let’s see how good you are on your first try.”
The rest of the night was spent cheering Serizawa on as he made his way through the levels, barely scraping by in the fast paced action. Right around when the sun began to rise, the kids started yawning and losing their ability to speak coherently. The demon set them all up in Mob’s room with futons and some water bottles in case the junk food got a bit too much for their heads. It took a solid hour to tidy up the mess, crumbs, and left over snacks. In the end, he sat alone on the couch with the TV off, wings taking up the remaining spots. No need for him to sleep. Instead he took to watching over the house like a good guardian angel. Well- close enough.
“The little demons are asleep. No need to worry.” He texted Reigen, who he knew was still up.
“Ok. Never call them that again.” There were a few moments as Reigen was no doubt frantically typing on his out of date flip phone, (more Hollow spoilers shhh). “Did you enjoy yourself? You seemed nervous to be alone with them for an entire night.”
“It was nice. They don’t mind at all what I am.”
Serizawa sensed the kid’s peaceful, slumbering auras above and let out a sigh. A hint of whispering met his ears. Telling scary stories. He wondered if he would have gotten to do that if he was born a human. Childhood remained a fickle concept to him: born innocent and learning, growing into a completely new state of being all while ever absorbing the world around you. He guessed he had the last part down, at least on a basic level. Grinning, the demon bit into the small pile of cookies he had saved for himself, tail wagging. There were little bits of chocolate and peanut butter in these. Humans shall forever surprise him.
Reigen texted again. “Has Shou come down yet to take more food from the fridge?”
As if on cue, Serizawa heard footsteps from behind. A white light poured over the floor as the fridge was opened. He scoffed, holding up a clawed hand and shutting the door before anything else happened.
“Hey!” Shou stood in hamster print pajamas with arms crossed, glaring at his demonic babysitter. “Not cool.”
“You’ve had enough to last three sleepovers.” Glancing over his shoulder, Serizawa knew he didn’t even have to get up with Shou’s point of view consisting of his red eyes and low voice. “Trust me, you’ll thank me later when you wake up with a bit less of a stomach ache.”
“Fine.”
Louder footsteps as Shou trudged back up, accented with a few whispers. Serizawa stretched his wings and found himself letting out a yawn. Picking up his phone, he idly texted Reigen back.
“Now I understand what you meant by how you felt like you were a single parent.”
“THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT.” A few random emoticons followed. Serizawa smiled down at his phone. Another text came through a few minutes later. “They do grow on you though.”
Now lying on the couch, Serizawa wrapped his wings around himself and gazed out the window- the beginning glow of the sun rise left the clouds red amid early morning bird song.  One last check on the kid’s auras. Finally asleep.
“They sure do. See you later today, Taka.” He blushed, leaving a little heart at the end.
The demon allowed his breathing to fall relaxed. All the while his mind thought of future favors he could do for the kids. Trips to the zoo, celebrating graduation, even picking out birthday gifts for them. He’d never done that before. Never had a family before. A real family. His phone buzzed again and he checked the screen.
“Love you too, Tsuya.”
The tip of his tail flicked in happiness.

Oh I gotta know more about "a bar…? Like in music?"
Cuz as a musician too i am like "Yes, which bar we talking about?" haha
right off the bat I’m rlly not that much of a musician I’m self taught and just help lead small youth bands n stuff hahah BUT
yeah this is age swap too! This was basically how Teru and Mob meet after their fight together, which is at a bar! Except I’m not old enough to drink and have never set foot in any type of rowdy bar, so it’s mostly formed after movies and things I’ve heard lol.
I’ll add some of it here too cause I like it, I might end up posting this on ao3 at some point in time? I’d just have to explain the context haha. Basically, Pre SnS, Mob worked at a museum. He has the typical repression of his emotions and dislike of using his powers, though he also has a lot of fear surrounding alcohol because in high school he was invited to a party and the people there spiked his drink to get a reaction out of him. In this, Mob got a call to exorcise a spirit at a bar!
Oh and Teru’s scar is from their fight, not from Claw lol. A poor man’s substitute for having his hair shaved off.
The sooner he found this spirit, the sooner he could get out and go home.
Focusing on the feeling of the aura, Mob traced it back to its source. It was vaguely familiar, but in a way he couldn’t place. It was similar to how most spirits come across. Full of tumultuous feelings that Mob had a hard time tracking. Hints of anger, notes of distaste, and fear seeped out of the source, clouding the air in another level of confusion for Mob to try and read.
But one thing that Mob could sense clearly from the way it throbbed throughout the crazed energy in the room was that it was in pain.
With a soft frown, Mob pushed through the crowd once again, navigating closer to the actual bar seats. He paused once he could see a good view of the people sitting around, watching the bartenders make drinks for the people who ordered and chatting with customers.
He could feel that the aura was located here, but he had a hard time telling where the spirit was. There wasn’t any tell-tale sign of a glowing glob, which made Mob worry that this would be one that he would have to use thought to exorcize. He could barely think straight with the music and voices pounding into his skull! How was he going to focus on using his abilities?
76%
None of the people seemed to be possessed, which was good.
Oh— well, maybe that one guy? Oh, no, he’s walking away now…  ummm…
There weren't that many people left at the bar. A man and a woman were chatting it up, both of their words slurred and their actions uncoordinated as they attempted to flirt. Well, what Mob assumed was flirting. It was extremely hard to tell.
At the other end of the bar was a small group of men who appeared to come from after work, all clanking their drinks and making continuous toasts whenever they could think of something remotely praise worthy.
Sandwiched in the middle was the frame of a young man slumped over onto the counter, his head pillowed on an arm and his finger lazily twirling the ice in his drink. His medium length blond hair hid any defining traits that Mob might’ve been able to pick out.
Maybe he should just try and talk to the bartender. That way he didn’t have to interrupt the strange courting session, nor try and talk to the intimidating work group. And he figured waking up an almost sleeping person wouldn’t be good etiquette, especially since the reactions of drunk people weren’t ones that Mob liked to experience.
Mob glanced around before he walked forward and sat down in the chair next to the blond. The bartender noticed his presence and came over as he dried off a recently used glass. “What can I get for you?” He asked, setting the glass down and tapping his fingers on the counter.
79%
“N-nothing, thank you—“ Mob winced as the businessmen gave an uproarious cheer, the sharp clanking noises piercing Mob’s ears.
The bartender gave the men a quick look that went unnoticed before turning back to Mob. “Alright.”
Mob fiddled with the cuff of his coat sleeve, looking at the groups and people around him. “Have- have you seen any sign of spiritual activity going on tonight?” He asked the man, raising his soft voice so that he could be heard.
The bartender sighed (more with his body and less with his voice since subtle things like that got missed in the noise) and shook his head. “The only ‘spiritual activity,’” he grumbled, making air quotes, “comes from him.” He nodded to the blond next to Mob, who had fallen asleep with his finger still in his cup. “He’s a psychic from what he’s told me. Normally he doesn’t bother anyone with his abilities though.”
Mob glanced over at the man next to him, watching the shallow rise and fall of his back. “A psychic?’ He repeated, his voice wavering.
What was a psychic doing in a place like this? Clearly his powers were doing something. How… how could he not know how dangerous it is to be drunk as a psychic? That— he— Mob couldn’t even fathom the idea of willingly doing this! This- This man could destroy everything around him!
84%
“Like I said, he’s normally pretty good at not flying things around,” the bartender said again. He hesitated. “Though, he has had more to drink than usual today.”
Mob frowned and nodded in thanks to the man before he was called off to go assist the couple.
He turned to look at the fellow psychic next to him and pressed his lips together. He tried to reach out with his aura to get a read on the other’s, but the moment he released it the slightest bit, Mob’s hair shot straight up and he gasped. He reeled back in his abilities as fast as possible, his heart hammering in his chest.
As if on cue, someone knocked into him and shoved him so far forward that his chin slammed on the counter. Mob clamped down a yelp while the person pushed off of him and continued on their merry way.
88%
He wanted to go home. He wanted to get away from this overstimulating mess and lay in bed under his warm covers and hide from everyone else in the world for a few precious hours. But he was stuck here with a psychic who— who must not care for anyone around him!
“Excuse me,” Mob started, reaching a tentative hand out but stopping before touching the man. He leaned a little forward, bringing his face closer to the where the man’s hair blocked his own. “Are you awake?”
He watched the blond strands flutter slightly, the absence of response being taken as a no.
Mob nudged his shoulder only for the melting ice cube in his cup to fly towards his face. Mob let the cold square smack him in the forehead, freezing water mixed with whiskey dripping down his nose and cheeks. His trembling hand pulled the ice away from him and set it down on the table, wiping his face off with his sleeve as he desperately tried to keep his rising feelings down. He could feel his skin prickling and his aura beginning to leak into the area around him, causing the edges of his clothing to rise.
H-he wasn’t even drinking and he wasn’t able to control himself. The man who was black out drunk was better than he was.
He had to get out. He had to get out or else some- something awful would happen and- and he wouldn’t be able to live with himself! He— he had gone through this before, he should know better! He should’ve known better than to even step foot in this place, but here he is! Putting everyone around him at risk!
He’s so dangerous— He’s so incredibly dangerous and he has too—
“You’re nngh…messing up my mood,” the man next to him groaned, his words slurring as he inhaled deeply.
Mob froze and looked back at him, watching as the man stretched his arms out in front of him, his forehead pressed to the counter. “Your aura’n’ shit is bother’n me…”
Mob straightened and got off his bar stool, his legs feeling like jelly. “Your psychic abilities are causing a disturbance,” Mob informed him as professionally as he could. His voice shook as he felt his insides being torn up by electricity that he couldn’t let go. “We need to leave—“
“Do I know youu?” The blond asked, sitting up slowly. “Youuu—” he sang, turning towards him and flashing a grin. “—sound familiar.”
92%
The little bit of color in Mob’s face drained away as he realized who the esper was.
It was hard not to recognize him. He still had the charming smile plastered on his face, and his medium-length blond hair still looked perfect despite being messed up from his stupor. He had the unforgettable electric blue eyes that hid who knows how many insecurities behind them. But the most notable to Mob was the fresh scar that traced up Hanazawa’s cheek and curved around his nose. The one that ‘ruined’ his face, the one that was talked about in celebrity news, and the one that Kageyama had given him.
It was Teruki Hanazawa. The man who fought his way into Mob’s life and seemed unable to find a way out of it.
That’s a lot to share ahah, especially out of context… oh well

hi! just wondering if u have any mp100 fic recs particularly nonromantic ones? i read “A Breach of Trust” already and that one went straight to the Fics of All Time for me!!
hello! here's some stuff from my bookmarks that is non-romantic, or where if there is any romance, it's not the main focus:
Issho by @toastytoaster22: a canon divergence AU where teru meets shigeo and ritsu when he's 8 years old, and things go from there. this is THE go-to fic if you liked A Breach of Trust imo - not for the genre and tone, those are different (though admittedly it's been years since I reread Abot so my memory of it is a bit fuzzy - will need to reread it soon!), but the key aspects are the same: it's a very well-written, long fic, with a gripping plot, excellent characterisation and introspection (the pov is absolutely fantastic), and heart-warming familial bonds that will make you cry. this fic will break your heart and then lovingly put it back together.
Butterfly Effect by Frecklefrog: similar concept to the above, also a fantastic execution. reigen and mob meet teru while out on a job, when the kids are around 11, and the plot evolves from there. again this has great characterisation and the relationships are very well-written, especially teru and reigen's.
Hiding His Horns (an orphaned work): this one is listed in ao3 as terumob but in my opinion this fic is plot-heavy more than anything else, and gives equal weight to reigen and mob's and mob and ritsu's relationship (in addition to teru and mob's), so i wouldn't say it's about romance. but it IS written in teru's pov, and his feelings for mob are not exactly subtle, so if that's not your cup of tea, i'd skip this one. but if that doesn't bother you, then i really recommend it. it's a witches and demons AU where teru, a promising young witch/exorcist, really really wants reigen, an incredibly famous exorcist, to take him on as an apprentice. he's less than pleased when he discovers reigen in fact already has a student, and that student is a demon of all things.
The Joy of Cooking (for a Family You Didn't Know You Had) by pepperfield: a 5 + 1 collection about reigen treating the people in his life to meals. this one is just great if you're looking for something about reigen and the gaggle of kids he ended up pretty much adopting. very very heartwarming, and the crazy conversations the kids have always make me laugh. each of their voices is spot-on. this fic does have some serirei, especially one of the later chapters, but it's not the overall focus of the fic at all.
The Destiny of Those Around You by @fightmemogami: this one is a series containing two fics, both equally great. both are missing moments from s1, after the seventh division arc. one is about shigeo visiting kamuro, the student council president (as he mentions to ritsu in the last ep of s1), and the other is about a conversation that may have happened between mob and onigawara (based on that comment he gave ritsu about how "your brother was worried about you"). both these fics are very good, i especially enjoy the way shigeo is written.
Color in a Monochrome World by Sifl: i have to be honest, i haven't reread this collection yet since i first did back in 2016, but it's in my bookmarks and i remember really enjoying it. it's a collection of gen fics, about different characters and different relationships, and while they can be read as stand-alones, they are subtly interconnected. the details are a bit fuzzy in my memory but it's very well-written, so i do recommend it. i will be rereading it soon myself.
Port in a Storm by W3LTERW8: this is a short character study set right after the separation arc. contains some good angst, as well as a great conversation between reigen and mob in the aftermath of what was a turning point for both of them.
Signed Up For It by @turning-the-kaleidoscope: heart-warming fic that takes place both before and after canon, focused on reigen's pov of the sort of world shigeo, as a born esper, lives in, and how different that world is from reigen's own. and how despite all that, reigen still wants to stay. has some great dialogue that really stuck with me, and the hurt/comfort is fantastic.
tomorrow isn't always another day by suitablyskippy (tumblr won't let me @ them, but they're also on here with the same username, I believe): hilarious fic, made me laugh out loud multiple times with how clever and quick-witted the writing is. reigen is caught in a time loop, is apparently the only person to be aware of it, and can't seem to find the cause, no matter how many times he asks mob to check if he's got a curse on him. excellent writing that casually drops some of the best-written, funniest lines like it's nothing.
Pull Up The Weeds to Grow Back Stronger by @spiritusrex: we are now entering what I'm calling the Mogami section of this post. this one is a great fic about minori in mogamiland, and how she slowly but surely manages to rebel against the role she is being made to play. great depiction of the start of a redemption arc.
I know who I am when I'm alone by RedWritingHood: mogami arc fic where reigen is also stuck in mogamiland as another random inhabitant of this world. really really great fic about how your thoughts and feelings don't determine the sort of person you are, your actions do. you can still do good by someone no matter how many intrusive thoughts try to get you to be a horrible person.
Come Morning Light by NotHereForIt: this one deals with the fallout of the mogami arc. reigen finds himself in a dream that isn't his, where mob is being haunted by the six months that never happened. some darker themes, as expected from anything dealing with the mogami arc, but great hurt/comfort.
since you asked for non-romantic stuff particularly, I will put the following two recs on their own. they're both terumob, and the romance is pretty central in both (especially in the second one), so they may not be your cup of tea, but they both have some of the best redemption arcs i've ever read, both in this fandom and outside of it. if you don't mind the romance, i wholeheartedly recommend them, i've read both multiple times:
Tunnel Vision (orphaned): a canon divergence AU (set before the two of them meet) where mob's school is undergoing some renovations and he and his friends are temporarily relocated to teru's school. teru senses there's another esper at his school and does NOT take it well. he makes a lot of mistakes. roughly follows the events of season 1. written in teru's pov so his feelings for mob are always prominent as they slowly shift from animosity to something else, but i don't know if i would even call this a love story. it's about teru's redemption first and foremost. excellent writing and characterisation, and i have to give a special shoutout to tsubomi, i really loved the way she was written in this fic.
Sword of Damocles (also orphaned): cannot describe in words the impact this fic has had on me. it's a no powers AU set when the kids are 16. teru is, to put it bluntly, a complete asshole, and so are his friends. when he brags to them that he'd be able to charm anyone and get them to kiss him (without being the one to make the first move), they dare him to prove it, and point to a random guy walking by (shigeo) as his target. now teru just needs to charm him and get his kiss so he can go back to his life, but it may not be as easy as it seems. obviously this fic has a lot of romance in it since teru is trying to charm mob into going out with him since the start, but the slow burn is one of the best i've ever read. teru starts off as highly unlikable, and he's not very charitable (in his head) towards mob at all, but slowly, very slowly, he starts to change. it's incredibly well-written, and as the title implies, you spend the whole time reading it with a sense of anticipation and dread, wondering when things are gonna come crashing down and how bad the fallout will be. a really, really great fic, i wish i could reread it as if it was the first time.
that's all i've got for you! i hope at least some of these can pique your interest, and that you enjoy them. would love to hear your thoughts on the ones you do read, if you like! i'm always open to talk about great fics.

The Times They Are a Changin' by Bandtrees and Hatsunoid is absolutely amazing
...And if you can handle the contents of it. No seriously. The fic is definitely dark and if you're sensitive to MEDICAL ABUSE, GORE, AND ABLEISM—Don't read it. It's especially centered around those and unless you close your eyes for all of it, you're not going to be able to handle it.
BUT!! It's so good, I would love to erase my memory just to experience reading it for the first time all over again. The disturbing parts aren't OOC (in my opinion at least) and it's very well-written, some optional out-of-site parts too.
A Laconic Summary: Mob loses control over his powers and causes permanent brain damage to Reigen and Ritsu. This fic explores the possible effects of that
Things of Note (as tags): Ambiguous Ending, Parasites (Specifically maggots and they're not TOO important, but they're there during a somewhat important moment)
Extremely long rambling (with spoilers) below the cut
This fic is so good, I created a sideblog for my AO3 to post about it. This fic is so good, that I had to stop what I was doing even though it is probably going to be detrimental to my grades. This fic is so good, that I was nearly about to rip my hair out from its roots
It's about 100k chapters long, separated into two parts. I'm easily bored and there's been plenty of times I've read a fic with maybe half the length, gotten bored, and thought of some parts as a slogfest even when it really wasn't—I just suck at getting through longfics. But reading through this, there was never a point where I thought that. Tensions were always high, rising even when I thought it wouldn't be able to, and I would end up near-screaming
And the way it shows how different characters feel? Gorgeous. Amazing. Love it.
Obviously, we have the normal book style descriptions from one character's POV, but then we have Teru's diary and Shou's little monologues(?), and it's all really cool??!?! Maybe that's what helped keep my attention. That and the little off-site links.
Speaking of those, I think I found all of them, but I'm not that observant so I could have easily missed some. And wow. Jesus christ. The last couple ones, the ones of Shou's gallery as his phone was getting wrecked, I was. just. In shock. I'm a very sentimental person who cares about photos and things, and I don't know how Shou didn't begin loudly crying right then and there because I would have
And god, so many times did I think 'Is this fic going to have untagged MCD?'. I was constantly at the edge of my seat expecting that someone would die. Reigen, Ritsu, Mob, Shou, Teru, Dimple (especially when he confronted Mob right as he was about to lobotomize Ritsu)... Basically all the main characters in the fic had moments where I was preparing to mourn
Mob really left for the deep end in this fic. I won't say that I fully get why he was so convinced that what he was doing was right, but it makes sense for him. He's not the type to let go easily, he's someone who draws strength from his bonds, and his aspect could be blood. And almost all his life, the message to never give up was basically struck into his head over and over. The one time I can recall where it wasn't? Claw, Seventh Division, where Reigen told him it's okay to run away. But I doubt that tilted the scale into being balanced in the slightest. There's so much more I could say about him in this fic. But I'll save it for now
Teru was... Teru. I understand him more than I did Mob, I think if I were in his situation, I would have maybe stopped at a certain point but we would be very similar in most of the actions we take. In the first chapter, I went 'haha silly!' at his entries. Seeing them as a little treat between the downers surrounding it. But then after he helped 'operate' (It doesn't feel right calling it that), I guess it really hit me. Then I started questioning if I would have done what he did. Then I realised I would have. Then I spiralled until I told myself this kind of situation will likely never happen to me and if it does, I'll get to it when I get to it
Serizawa is easily one of the ones you can feel for the most. Unlike Mob and Teru, he hadn't done anything to Reigen and Ritsu personally. And unlike Shou and Dimple, he didn't say harsh words. Perhaps you could blame him for not taking action sooner, but they all can be blamed for that.
Shou... Oh my god. Shou. At first, I was ready to fight Shou tooth and nail because really? That one comment on FriendBook wasn't necessary. I don't know how or why Mob didn't block him. But then as Mob spiralled further and further, I was hoping for him to make his way back into the narrative to save Reigen and Ritsu. Then he did. And he failed and he was injured and I thought he was going to die. Then he didn't. And it's implied he could have helped them. But could he have also made it worse? Who knows, that's why I put Ambiguous Ending as a thing of note.
DON'T FORGET THE OUT-OF-LINK STUFF!!! Mixed media fics that have off-site links are truly beautiful. My friend and I love that shit. Should she ever get into MP100, I'll recommend this fic to him with a shit-eating grin on my face. I hope the word count doesn't intimidate him erogdfkg... Every single bit of the off-site links I saw was just so cool. The art of Reigen made me feel strong unease, the real videos too, and that one animated video with Ritsu and Mob and Teru. Okay basically everything gave me a strong unease. But that's the point!!! And it was done well!!!!
This fic is pure talent, skill, and effort put into something that shouldn't just be preserved via a PDF file, but should be carved into stone for future archaeologists to discover. I wish I could hold even a fraction of power needed to create something this masterful
On a more less-serious note to finish this off: Mobway. Red Mobster. I was about to lose my shit. Every single time one of the companies showed up I was about to tear my hair out (in a funny way) because it felt like falling for a prank. I ESPECIALLY LOST MY SHIT AT PSYCHOLOGIST PEPPER BECAUSE IT TOOK ME SCROLLING DOWN BEFORE REALISING. Truly, the minds behind this were geniuses
Also, this might sound weird, but I got reminded of KomaedaLoveMail while reading this. The off-site links to websites for sure helped, but I guess I just associate talk of gore in written form in this way with KLM? Or maybe I haven't quite recovered from consuming that piece of media (Can you even call KLM that?) yet. This isn't bad by the way, I loved deepdiving into KLM even though my feeble brain couldn't comprehend shit.
And and one last note- Opening the song link in the end notes was like emotional whiplash. I had to sit there for a bit to process. Good music
This is a whole mess. Even for a ramble, it's a whole mess. I don't have words or sentences or even phrases for how I feel right now. I'm a mess

Hello sorry to barge in with the word vomit/ramble, just wanted to let you know that god. Oh my god. You dont know how many things you’ve uncovered in me.
I started reading like, yesterday afternoon due to an animation for this fic, dreading over the word-count. I thought I could just read a little to catch a grasp of the fic, then put it to the side when my interest dies, and then 12 hours of reading happened and now I’m sitting awake at 1 AM wondering what the fuck happened to my emotions.
Cause?? I just?? Adored it so much?? The writing is such an experience to read, you just nail every single detail that just immerses me into the current scene or event. The amount of details picked and imbedded are just enough to fully paint a picture while also not overwhelming me with information. It was a Joy to read, and shone whenever a revaluation and/or breakdown happens to a character (no plural, we know all know which one). The tension parts always shakes me over with anxiety (like the teru v ritsu 2, one of my favorites), the tiny and wholesome moments are so well described too?? You know what’s happening and you know your heart it not coming out unscathed but nope, you sit there and take the pain as now the characters are allowed a sense of comfort and you realize how much they needed it after watching their lives turn into a slow motion titanic scene.
AND THE CHARACTERS, the characterization is immaculate I swear. Its so different from what I’m used to in the best ways plus more. I love how mob is just a confused kid trying his best and reigen is just Some Guy who managed to completely tear down (or breach-) the emotional walls of every Kageyama kid in sight and just?? Let them know he’s there for them?? Let them be kids?? His interactions with Ritsu is so tragic cause Reigen will just not let go of the fact that Ritsu is fucking thirteen and does not need this much stress condensed in him (god bless burger scene, also a favorite). And Ritsu. He is so insane it makes me want to blow up a house (positive connotation). The dude is just a walking car wreck that is slowly parking at the edge of a cliff. Just the way he snaps in the most unhinged and self destructive ways makes me want to set him down in a pile of blankets, because child you are not leaving until you book a therapist appointment. Teru makes him 10x worst its comical, they just hate each other, barfs at eachothers presence but also they’d entrust their lives to the other’s no problem, what are worst enemies with slight fond attachments are for (Ritsu realizing he was manipulating Teru all along, naturally? A well aimed strike that rattled my core, incredible). Ritsu’s journey throughout the fic has been a sight to witness, from him being a emotionally stunted mess to an emotionally stunted, but now slightly considerate, mess. Character development.
This story has been an absolute delight to finish, and my thoughts will still run wild for about a week. I cannot thank you enough for writing this and sharing this to the world of ao3.

I'm!!!! Okay to approach this in pieces.
>breakdown happens to a character (no plural, we all know which one)
we all know which one....
Tumblr media
I'm just saying this could still be about literally ANY character named Ritsu in this story.
Also yes!!! Another Ritsu vs Teru v2 enjoyer!! I was so goddamn excited getting to that part of the story. The role inversion between Ritsu and Teru. The weight of Ritsu making this a spirit possession battle against Teru of all people, and that being why Ritsu is able to hold his own against Teru who is so much stronger than him.
And absolutely ABoT is all about the small wholesome moments, cuz each and every one of those are wrestled in tatters out of the jaw of tragedy and misery which, to me, makes them extra special. The absolute fighting tooth and nail for happiness and betterment.
>reigen is just Some Guy who managed to completely tear down (or breach-) the emotional walls of every Kageyama kid in sight and just?? Let them know he’s there for them?? Let them be kids??
yep yep yep the double-meaning of "Breach" in the title. Breach trust. Breach the barrier. The role of lies and the role of trust in that very core element of Mob's barrier.
And I really adored writing all the Ritsu and Reigen interactions because they are. just. the worst for each other. But also Reigen is who Ritsu needs. And that hard fight to save Ritsu happens in the form of screaming matches that destroy a McDonalds and the massive decimation of innocent Build-A-Bears. The burger scene is. SO near and dear to my heart.
>And Ritsu. He is so insane it makes me want to blow up a house (positive connotation).
Ritsu "Aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you wanna just go apeshit?" Kageyama. I love writing him as a foil against the Reigen and Mob plotline. Because both Reigen and Mob have been hurt, and their reponses are much more focused on how to heal themselves. Ritsu's been hurt (and Teru, too) and their responses are to lash out and hurt everything back. ABoT runs the whole spectrum of catharthis for just "You've been badly wronged. Wouldn't you just like to [heal] [have someone who cares] [seek revenge and destroy the world which destroyed you]?"
>(Ritsu realizing he was manipulating Teru all along, naturally? A well aimed strike that rattled my core, incredible)
I deeply loved writing the Teru and Ritsu plotline just every step of the way. And the hardest part was writing all the build up knowing the role-reversal was coming without tipping my hand--the part where Ritsu would surpass Teru in awfulness, where it would become Teru desperately clinging to morals and trying his hardest to stop Ritsu. And this all starts with the pivot in ch31 as Ritsu realizes he IS in a position to take advantage of Teru... because Teru sees him as a friend.
fkjfdnkjfddf thank you for this review! I'm eating it I'm eating it. You're talking about so many of the things that make me feral for this story and why I wrote it in the first place. It's the trauma it's the healing it's the character development it's the character regression it's the beating your bestie to death on a soccer field it's the taking a traumatized kid to get ramen it's the mindless destruction of a Build-A-Bear Workshop it's the manipulation it's the trying to do better it's the idea that self-sacrifice doesn't actually save the people around you who need you it's the different ways tragedy affects people it's the lighting a corpse on fire then slashing your own throat it's the adopting a kitten named Socks it's the corruption it's the possession it's the cursed Jade Statue that just follows you everywhere for no reason

Note
Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?
Also, just curious, is there a story behind your name "pockethep"?
I’ve had this Tumblr for a molten minute and originally it was a Pokemon themed blog before I deleted my side blogs (a choice I regret every day). The Pocket in my user came from “Pocket Monsters” and the HEP was just tagged on because a lot of pocket monster themes names weren't available but younger me wanted to be open to having a blog that wasn't just 1 thing.
Now for the fics…
These are in no order whatsoever. This is based purely on fanfics that I love that no matter what I keep going back to, there are honestly a lot I could put especially if I think harder but its late and I'm typing on my phone.
Yesterday Upon The Stair by PitViperOfDoom on AO3. (My Hero Academia)
Genuinely an amazing fanfic, probably the best BNHA fanfic I’ve ever read which is a strong title to hold. It even has its own TV Tropes Page. It was Published in 2016 and I read it religiously. It had it all, Queerplatonic relationships, Drama, Angst, heartwarming moments, and realistic character depictions. It’s one of those fanfics that most people in the fandom know as “One of the Big Ones”.
A Breach of Trust by Phantomrose96 on AO3 (Mob Psycho 100)
Another “One of the Big Ones” and another fanfic that I’ve been following since it was published way back in 2016 (a wonder how 2016 had a lot of really great fanfics just like how a lot of good writing came from the quarantine). This is such a good fanfic, that really expands past the base content of the manga/anime and has a well fleshed out world as well as characters. It’s a drama that has a good dose of angst and I love the way the relationship between Mob and Reigen develops.
Issho by ToastyToaster22 on AO3 (Mob Psycho 100)
Normally I’d try to keep it one to a fandom with these types of lists/asks but Issho was really good. Once again has the bonus of being a fanfic from one of my favorite anime/manga. But it highlights one of my favorite characters, Teru, in a way that develops him very well over the course of the series. Issho is just the first of ten parts and I'd recommend reading all of them.
Salvage by MuffinLance on AO3 (Avatar the Last Airbender)
One of my comfort ATLA fanfics. A great amount of humor, angst, and a lot of found family. I absolutely adore Hakodad pics and Zuko honestly deserves it but Salvage has the plus of adding more additional siblings and a cute isopuppy because Zuko really deserves it.
fool in the moon by arahir on Ao3 (Trigun)
Despite having read the Trimax manga and having seen the original Trigun anime, I didn’t actually start reading fan fiction for it until Trigun Stampede paraded through…And BOY was I missing out. Although fool in the moon is a recent addition to the roster of amazing pics, it’s up there as one of my favorite. It’s a vashwood fic with a healthy dose of angst and comfort. I don’t know what it is but Trigun writers all have the ability to write the most visceral things.
(HONORABLE MENTION: A Ship and his Anchor by DerringerMeryl who aced the Vash whump.)
Press 9 to delete this Message by moriturism on Ao3 (Jujutsu Kaisen)
One of the most cleverly written fics not just on this list but that I’ve read. I can’t recommend it enough, even to those that don’t ship satosugu. This is a hurt no comfort fic and the way my stomach sunk reading the date for one of the last messages is a feeling few people can replicate. It’s good all around. 11/10
Those Hands Were Meant To Love by Ahenix on Ao3 (Spy X Family)
I think this is one of the big fics for Spy X Family and for a reason. It’s fluff without plot, and I love a good bit of found family and fluff especially centered around my favorite “fake” family. I read this one a couple times last year because it’s cute and its only 6 chapters.
Cascading (In a good way) by Hubbleablubble on Ao3 (Genshin)
There are a lot of well written genshin fics but this one is my favorite both for the ship (Kaebedo) and that I enjoy the way the characters are written. I like how everyone was written in this. Although it’s only a chapter the pacing was great, especially as it told their story from strangers to friends to lovers. It also mentioned Khaenri’ah Royalty Kaeya which is a huge plus.
(HONORABLE MENTION Song of Resistance by TheOpticalMouse absolutely check this out, its a series of 2 fics)
Starstruck by shizuoh on Ao3 (Yuri on Ice)
All that needs to be said is that the author basically created the Actor Victor Nikiforov tag on ao3. It’s a fic that’s been there since around 2016 when the show debuted and it hasn’t left my favorites for a while alongside a lot of others. Featuring the aforementioned actor Viktor, a barista/babysitter yuuri, and Yuri as a child caught up between the two. There are a lot of great’s and this is one of them.
(HONORABLE MENTIONS: There are a lot of Yuri on Ice fics I could have put here so…Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart aches by Reiya (The Biggest Diamond among the rest of the diamonds), crust and sugar over by ShanaStoryteller, Where the Cliff Greets the Sea)
Academic Intrigue by kassvea on Ao3 (Word of Honor)
It’s a modern AU, college/university AU with well written characters that are true to the original source. It’s a story about starting over, especially given the scandal at the start of the fic. I love the connection between Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing in all forms of media but this is one of my favorites.
(HONORABLE MENTION: Sanguine by jaemyun this is one of the big word of honor fics and for a reason.)

Champion (14/19): Have Sympathy for Me
cham·pi·on — /ˈCHampēən/
(n) - a person who fights or argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else
(v) - support the cause of; defend — "I don't want these powers. They're too much."
Reigen said he would bear any burden too big for Mob.
Standing next to Reigen at the moment was like trying to walk parallel to the shore while the tide beating away at him. It was nauseating, the smell of tobacco and melting plastic. It left Teru feeling battered and bruised, psychically sore.
He had to soldier on, however. If not for little brother, then for Kageyama.
If Claw had Ritsu then...
(A car and some men. They have scars on their faces. They have colors too. They talk like Teru is a find, like he's special—of course Teru is special, mommy and daddy say Teru is the specialist little boy in the world—but they mean it wrong. One of the men—Teru can't remember much but he knows this man had a mustache—uses his red to hold Teru in place. The mustache man talks to the other man about breaking him. He talks about how Teru will never go home, that Claw will be his home. He wants his mommy but his mommy isn't special and she isn't here, so Teru has to save himself.)
(He always has to save himself.)
Teru shook that thought off, focusing on the thread of power that had touched the Scars holding Ritsu hostage. He couldn't get lost in the mire of his own mind, he had to be present. He had to be useful.
He had to make sure little brother didn't have to save himself.
"Are you sure you don't want my shoes?" It was the third time Reigen had broached the subject.
"No thank you." It was the third time that Kageyama refused him.
Reigen sighed and a wave of power nearly bowled Teru over. Regret, an argument, a shattered photo of a family. "Okay. Just...be careful where you step. Injuring your feet can be very dangerous if left untreated. Make sure you wash off when you get home."
When, not if.
(The sentiment was not echoed in Reigen's aura. Embers burning holes in sleeves. A sharp, acrid, smoke-filled inhale that degrades into a coughing fit. A sword in his back, a rock on his chest, sinking beneath the waves.)
"We'll be there soon. I'll try and take us through grass to help with that," Teru offered.
"Thank you, Hanazawa." Kageyama's praise filled Teru with a bubbly warmth that contradicted the icy fear that was driving all of them.
"Of course." Why wouldn't he help? Kageyama was the reason he had stopped his delusional rampage. Reigen was why Kageyama was the way he was. Little brother was new, barely used to his powers, and for all he and Teru butted heads, he was younger than Teru. He was a kid. Teru couldn't say no. He shouldn't say no.
The endless sea of Reigen's aura washed against Teru, pounding his shoreline to dust. When he exhaled, he swore his breath glittered with glass and regret. The tether he had to the Claw members' auras fractured and warped, its ripple being consumed by the kaleidoscope of Reigen's green and pink. He was worried. He was furious. He was ashamed.
"It won't be as bad as you're thinking." Both Reigen and Kageyama stared at Teru. He flushed slightly beneath their gaze. "I mean, when we find little brother. Claw isn't going to hurt him. They can't afford it."
