Thinking about the Abbey having its own glamor. To clergy members, it's stately, gorgeous. The grounds filled with manicured gardens and greenhouses, a hedge maze, immaculately maintained courtyards and stone paths. It's a a hulk of a building, a maze in and of itself. Wing after wing sprawling out into the grounds, with big stained glass windows and slate roofs, and big heavy wooden doors that shine in the sunlight. But to the uninitiated. The locals. The Christians. It's a ruin. The lake returning to swamp, filled with muck and weeds and monsterous rumors. The stone paths shot through with weeds. The gardens over flowing. The greenhouses just twisted metal and broken glass. And the Abbey? It's dangerous. The front door swings on it's hinges. There are gaps in the roof that let sunlight and rain and ivy in. Stained glass windows lay in shattered ruin on the chapel floor. Those sprawling wings are a mess of rotten wood, and crumbling stone. And if all of those things weren't enough to keep the riff-raff out, there are the rumors. The ghosts. The phantom hands on shoulders. The disembodied whispers. The shadows. The ghouls, always just out of sight. Protecting their home. Their people. And when fear isn't enough? When some humanity leans into that stupid bravery they're so proud of? Well, it's easy to make death look accidental in a place like this.

Exploring The Dunwall Archives a bit for writing purposes, I stumbled upon this excerpt.
The Overseers' Ancient Music is an often overlooked theme in Dishonored's lore, but a very fascinating one. I regret that it's not addressed much beyond the few Overseers we encounter carrying music boxes.
I wonder if there's any fics or posts on this subject? Sadly I don't have time to skim through AO3 and Tumblr much today but I'm very curious about what other people's thoughts are on this!

Throughout the natural world there are ripples that we can barely perceive with our sense, an Ancient Music permeating everything as a fundamental structural rule.

The Hierarchy of the Fandoms
So from what I gathered (no hate, it's not about how much I love them but about the number of people in it and when they were created) there is a Hierarchy of Fandoms.
First there are the Primordial Fandoms.
The primordial fandoms are the oldest of all, and were widely known and reknowned, but are now more or less dormant. They have little embers here and there when they are a base to a new series of movie.
The Primordials are the Greek Myths Fandom (still active), the Other Myths Fandom (scandinavian have a bit of activity too, but like a sleeping volcano has activity, roman clings on Greek, egyptian, slavic etc are mostly dead by now but everyone knows at least a bit about them) and the Medieval Legends Fandom (arthurian legend and such, vaguely active here and there but it's mainly embers of new series and movies, not the og medieval legends).
then there are the Elder Fandoms.
they are more fandoms than the primordial ones in fact, because they are knowingly fandoms and not based on an extinct pagan religion. It's the Five Great.
There's the Jane Austen Fandom, the Victor Hugo Fandom, the Victorian Gothic Fandom (and it's lord and commander Dracula, although Frankenstein is well awake these days too), the Tolkien Fandom and the Sherlock Holmes Fandom. But the Sherlock Holmes fandom and the Victorian Gothic, like the Others Myths Fandom, are a bit sleepy because most people are fans of the new adaptations, not the og books.
and then here are the two main categories of Golden Age Fandom:
the Multiverse Fandoms, circling around a whole bunch of different stories (Disney fandom, Dreamworks Fandom, Pixar Fandom, Marvel and DC Comics, etc.)
and the Saga Fandoms, around multi-books or multi-films / multi-seasons stories but all set in the same universe with more or less the same characters (Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Avatar the Last Airbender, etc.)
it should be noted that Star Trek and Doctor Who are technically somewhere in the Golden Age but are also honorary members of the superior circle, being Elder Fandoms but not one of the Five Great.
then we have the Phoenix Fandoms
most of the time they are in deep slumber under the watchful eyes of the nymph Cringia, but sometimes they suddenly get popular and have a renaissance era (Twilight fandom, Divergent, and it's possible Game of Thrones recently entered a time of deep slumber and might, some day, awake again).
and also, since we're in the birds names, the Peacock Fandoms:
fandoms quite popular at their times, had their hour of glory, had a movie maybe, or even several movies, but now it's over, either from their own volition or because no one cares about them (Hunger Games, Labyrinth, GoT if it's not in slumber but in the Sacred Well of Oblivion they fell...)
and we also have the Newborn Fandoms
they are young stories, not teens yet or not much more. They are gaining in popularity but it's too soon to tell if they will ever join one of the superior or medium circles. It's Keeper of the Lost Cities, Downton Abbey, Our Flag Means Death, etc.
finally we have the Iron Fandoms
it's those little fandoms who might be active and all but are not universally (as in tumblr-wise) known and we see some fanart from them from time to times, but they don't have a great cultural importance (ex: Lore Olympus, UnOrdinary and other webtoons, Crown of Feathers, Warriors, the Magic Tree House, Wings of Fire, Charlotte's web, etc.)

holy shit hi i’ve been neglecting this account like crazy. i swear i will be back with more headcanons (i promise there’s more than just “haha mountain has hooves”) and shit and i also want to attempt to draw the way the ghouls look in my head (because i for the life of me cannot verbally describe how someone looks) but it’s a slow process as i find drawing materials and also rebuild any of the former confidence i had in my artistic abilities lol. i also need to sort out my headcanons and actually commit to them before sharing because i am a little all over the place.
but this account is not dead! nor lurking! i am just horrifically unmotivated and paralyzed by the intimidating fact that i am in my final semester at university and am not at all prepared to graduate :)

i think Thinking_Computers Machintosh is different from One Cloud Gang Machintosh
in a sense that in the album Mac is mainly told from the perspective of how Sam and Yün know him; a calculated hustler who knows how to solve problems within making more, but is quicl to state that he's in control
which now that ive been pondering the rest of his story, that's not who he is
but Sam and Yün dont really keep tabs on him like that since cyborg folk tend to have objectives that span for decades
anyways
Mac falling in love with KangolLeen in 1990 is what drives him to buckle down more seriously, that happens before the album, since his disposition got more protective overall her and that's the side his friends often see
he's trying to hide this girl from his profession as much as possible to the point where they move away to the coast and live happily
until around 2004 where he is seized by apple for an update, where he's literally dragged away from KangolLeen and loses his claw and that's all she has left of him
during this time she stops dpeaking and moves back to her native planet and spends her days making music underground and moping around the many alleys of the Greay Scale
meanwhile Mac is fighting Apple directly with the help of Sam and Yün, who work on hurting business not knowing Mac is trying to assassinate his creator.
In 2014 he does take down Steve Jobs by his own hands, strangling him to death and tossing his corpse from a Apple office building.
He then spends 5 years in prison before being let out due to being pardoned by the Task Management Programmes, who's main goal is to replace Apple in the advertising world (they didnt need Mac, but they definitely needed to wipe any proof that Apple's poster boy went to prison)
the Programmes offer him to be freed and 30 million dollars, to which Mac asks for his own radio station and the rights to Daisy Bell which was previously owned by his distant cousin at the time.
he then spent the next 10 years working with radio djs and occult members to try to get the song to play far enough out of the universe hoping KangolLeen will hear the song they used to share together... one day
the year is 2029, one lonely night while listening for samples on her radio, KangolLeen hears it, Daisy Bell being played on the loud speakers outside her box
all the way down every alley on every radio, it's Daisy Bell being sang
she is shaken and tunes into the news to find out what is happening only to see that a wave of Humans have managed to make a portal on Ringling Row and by request are playing Daisy Bell everywhere.
there's reports of humans asking around for her, but the Jyezters fear they are hunting her, since she never seemed to bother anyone and the sudden invasion in the middle of the night is not exactly smiled upon in Cloune Towne
So a gang called the Pinz gather to keep her hidden and safe from the invaders, to which she constantly tries to investigate them all to piece together why would they use that song? why on every speaker?
after a month of asking around and getting shooed away, one of them knocks on her box's door after narrowly making it around her security
she opens the mail slot and sticks out a hand for her mail, only to be greeted by Macintosh, who asks "You seen a small Cloune with purple skin and white hair? she looks like this." as he's talking she opens the door with tears running down her face as she tries to say his name but her voice is gone.
they share their first hug in 25 years
the search stops and Mac sends the humans back to Urthe, finally leaving all of it behind and being with KangolLeen once more, and promising to stay with her for as long as he lives
the crying lessens as time goes by for Kangol, and everytime she does, Mac is there for her, she will never have to cry alone again
after a while, they begin to heal, somethings are irreversible but they stay determined to help eachother. Mac tries to help KangolLeen speak again or at least communicate in a understandable fashion and takes care of her
Kangol mends and fixes up Mac who has excessive wear and tear all over. eventually Mac changes his last name to Kangol's to fully cut ties with his past
now he and Kangol make music and live a simple married life between cyborg and clown
... that's too much writing

Hello I'm very curious do you have any other ideas of the ministry/Abby glamour how do sibling pass the test
I have ENDLESS thoughts about the Abbey glamour, magical world building is my shit. I've held off on it for a reason, I tend to get really in the weeds about it, but TOO LATE NOW.
Please send me whatever questions/ideas you have about it, I am happy to answer/scream about it. ANYWAY. I think a future sibling passes the test in one of two ways: 1) They show up to the Abbey with good (satanic) intentions. They either know what they're walking into (they've heard and believed the rumors), or stumble up on it when they open the doors and suddenly the building is whole. That's the first test. Some (very few) people have done enough things in their life that are intune with the values of the ministry and are immediately welcomed once their feet pass the threshold. This basically never happens, and is usually a surprise to everyone involved. Dew was walking outside for a cigarette one day when it happened and he nearly had a heart attack when he walked head first into a random person who could see him. 2) there is a ritual. It must be done in the basement ritual room which is a pain in the ass to get to in the abbey's glamoured state. You sort of have to know where it is in order to find it--that's part one. Then, there's a ritual, a minorly complicated one. Nothing like the summonings or things the upper level clergy do. Consider it an official selling of the soul, or pledging oneself to the cause. It involves blood and fire and specific latin and pure, honest, intention. Occasionally, unsuspecting people who have the right vibe/heart/whatever will be lead to that room by unseen forces. A pull in their gut, a phantom hand on their shoulder. This, is just as rare as the Abbey just accepting someone straight off. (Yes I am talking like the Abbey is sentient here, who's to say it isn't, at least a little?) Obviously the ritual is accessible and known enough to keep a steady stream of siblings coming into the church. But you can't just do it as a joke, or a dare. To get it to work, to get the Abbey to accept you, you have to really want it. And don't worry, every ritual is attended by a handful of clergy members, standing in the shadow--not visible until the glamour lifts. So that when, and if, it works the new sibling can be welcomed properly.

[image description: two Flight Rising sprites of Skydancer dragons, one blue and one pink. Both are wearing labcoats, and their artwork is positioned so they're facing each other as if having a conversation. End ID]
"Interesting news out of the Shifting Expanse, boss."
"The Sandsurges? I'm aware of them, Dr. Callisto. I do try to keep up with the news."
"Yes, of course, of course. Hard not to have heard about that--so soon after the Aethers' return, too..." Callisto shook her head, trying to stay focused. "However, the Baldwin Society's genetics surveyors finally put out their report on the genes present in the Sandsurge population."
Abraxas peered over his glasses dismissively at Callisto. "I'll glance through the survey later, but morphology research has little bearing on our work here."
"Even if they've discovered a gene that seamlessly blends dragon with machine?"
"A...gene. Not an augmentation? Lightning Flight is known for their elaborate prosthetics...."
"They call it an augment, but it fuses so seamlessly with the dragon's lifeweb that it can be passed down to hatchlings. The Sandsurges were reluctant to allow strangers into their hatcheries, but the researchers saw at least one newly-hatched dragon with the metal augments."
"Fascinating. So it can be done with Lightning magic..."
"Oh, yes. Apparently the Aberration genetics enthusiasts are already looking into ways to replicate the augments."
"Of course they are." Abraxas rolled his eyes, but his tail was already twitching with excitement. "Bring me a copy of that report, will you? We may need to get involved with the next expedition to the Expanse..."

Wanted to to a fun fact post about (human) Valentino since I keep forgetting the lore is all in my head. Here goes!
Valentino has alpha gal syndrome (aka tick bite allergy), likely acquired while he was walking through the grass at a gravesite. If he eats red meat or milk products he gets stomach pains, nausea, and occasionally hives. Technically he just needs to avoid the above and gelatin, but he is vegan in his food choices after one too many cross contamination events.
Is aromantic, but loves romance as long as it doesn't involve him. Has a secret weakness for romance novels, both chaste and smutty.
Tries to affect a cool and low maintenance disposition after his reputation as the creepy death priest solidified so people won't be afraid of him, but now he is sometimes offered/ 'voluntold' to do other's tasks.
The dark rings around his eyes tend to look like eyeshadow at first glance, which combined with his long hair and slim frame gives him a more feminine appearance. He'd be lying if he said he didn't notice the way some of the sisters, deacons, and priests look at him.
A near drowning as a child have left him with an awareness of mortality and a mild brain injury. For the most part his memory and motor skills are comparable to a healthy person, but when tired, stressed, or under the influence he often has tremors, headaches and trouble with short term recall.
