30-Day Arrested Development Challenge, Day 16: Least Favorite Episode
I’m going to make this quick because … well, I don’t have a lot to say about this episode. Season Five had a lot of stinkers and honestly, I could pick any one of them and be fairly accurate that they were the worst of the bunch, but they wouldn’t be my least favorite. That honorable title goes to Season Four’s “Indian Takers.” I normally enjoy Lindsay’s storylines, but this Lindsay-focused…

Steve was created in service of Nancy's character journey in season one. Joe Keery was just pretty enough that he managed to snag a character arc of Steve's own. which ultimately drove them apart and forced them to grow outside of one another. I think Nancy is in a state of arrested development similar to Jonathan but not as bad as Jonathan. She's still stuck in her guilt and trauma over Barb, all they buried was an empty box containing Nancy's girlhood and innocence. The Nancy of seasons two and three is still stuck on those stairs. in season four she's learning now, through Steve and Robin, how to crawl forward too.
There's also a ladder motif with Steve throughout seasons 1-3. It's not intentional but it is interesting. Steve as a character is constantly climbing forward. He climbs up while Nancy stays stuck on the steps. Nancy is fully her own person but she's still trapped in that trauma and grief. In season four Steve doesn't have to climb anymore because by that point he's fully actualized. Now, Nancy just has to walk up and meet him.
With Steve, she doesn't have to just be a girlboss. And she never was some boring suburban girl. Nancy was always special to him. Different to him than other girls. (For good and bad.) He loved her kindness and how she cared and he just as much learns to appreciate her leadership and hard work in season four. When Jonathan talks about her initially he just sees her as some teenage girl just like all the others but he states it with derision. And when asked by Argyle what it is he loves about her, he lists all the ways in which she's proficient at her work, and how dedicated she is. While Nancy talks about Jonathan's personality (at least how she views it).
In season four Nancy gets to be a teenager with Steve (and Robin) again. She gets to recapture her lost youth before it's gone from her entirely.
It's another reason why people who don't like or refute anything about Stancy don't understand Steve and think that he's in constant torment over his past and who he was, that he should hold resentment to Nancy for breaking his heart. He isn't! And he doesn't!!! He doesn't hate himself for any past wrongdoings, he acknowledges them and talks about how they're necessary for change and growth, he sees that Nancy breaking his heart is part of that- whether from his mistakes or her own, and he doesn't blame her for it. He thanks her. Because it sucked but it was necessary to keep him from being stuck frozen in season two like she and Jonathan were. Nancy forced him to keep climbing.
And when Steve confesses his love to her it's without pretense or expectation. "I don't want anything from you, I just want you to know that you are loved". How much purer a form of love can one give? To love without pretense or expectation, only for the sake of loving. To love with eyes clear and kind enough to find pleasure in someone else's happiness even if it has nothing to do with you.

Elder Bones, can we get more info on ShadowClan's territory? They live at a bog, right?
I won't put out too much yet, because I want to make another research guide on wetlands in England the way that my lowland heath document covered what moorland is. That research opened my eyes to how important peat, fire, and management should be to WindClan's culture, and so I'm expecting something similar to happen when I dive into what their bog is.
But I DO know that the bog of the Forest and the bog of the Lake are going to be quite different. That is because the Lake is in active development during the Settlement Era (Po3), where the old Forest bog was downright medieval-ancient.
The Lake bog also has a SPECIFIC NAMED model, unlike the others which take a little from a lot of areas. It's the Black Moss in Delamere Forest-- a developing quaking bog which is an EARTH-SHATTERING success for the Wetland Vision project in the UK. I'm in love with it. I want to learn everything about it and explain why it's so awe-inspiring
(The area is also fucking gorgeous btw, I want to show everyone pictures of how breathtaking it is-- the moss enfolds the ground like a velvet blanket and the water seeps up to meet your step. The trees sprawl above you and cast dappled sunlight on the greenery, as if the sun is painting the definition of beauty before your very eyes. Also theres toads)
Anyway though, some various things about bogs;
Bogs are acidic, a fen is alkaline. I know very little about fens, besides that there's a few of them in the south
Like moor, bogs are so important for carbon capture that the destruction of any wetland makes me feel physically ill
Dead matter is quickly covered by fresh, living things, so the bottom layer is basically in permanent arrested decay
because of that, gas bubbles to the surface on occasion. That's why they're smelly sometimes! It means there's MUCH MORE down there that the bog is saving you from!! You're WELCOME!!!
It's a pretty bad area to be in over winter; everything freezes, falling into the water can become deadly, and a lot of the prey hibernates.
In other seasons, it's bountiful. Insects, amphibians, frogs, birds, fish, and mammals live here, you can get some good eats in a bog. ShadowClan has the most varied diet of the forest four.
A "swamp" is actually a term that refers to forested wetlands. "Marsh" is not covered by trees.
Medicinal leeches are supposed to live in wetlands but with the decline of natural livestock management their populations have crashed :(

I always breathe easier when Geno's back in the U.S. ...
From TH, September 5, 2023
The KHL is setting a scary precedent with the handling of Russian prospects who were drafted by NHL teams.
A timeline, to catch you up:
June 2015: Flyers draft goalie Ivan Fedotov in the seventh round. Fedotov develops into one of the top non-NHL goalies in the world.
2021-22 season: Fedotov signs for a year with the KHL club CSKA. CSKA is owned by a Russian state-run oil company.
February 2022: Fedotov says publicly in interview at Olympics that he intends on moving to the NHL
May 7, 2022:  Fedotov signs one-year deal with Flyers
Early June 2022: Fedotov arrested by Russian law enforcement for suspicion of evading military service and sent to remote military base in eastern part of the country
July 1, 2022: Fedotov becomes sick and rushed to hospital. His lawyer said that Fedotov had been given some kind of injections on the base, and that he and Fedotov's family weren't allowed to see him in the hospital. Fedotov is released from the hospital after a couple of days, but misses the entire 2022-23 season while at the military base. His contract with the Flyers slides a year to 2023-24.
July 8, 2023: Fedotov's KHL club CSKA signs him to a two-year extension, giving him two competing and active contracts.
Aug. 14, 2023: The IIHF completes its investigation of the competing contracts and rules in favor of the Flyers, saying that the CSKA contract is invalid. The IIHF gives CSKA a one-year ban on signing  players for international transfers. Fedotov is also suspended from international competitions for four months, which is irrelevant given that Russia isn't competing in national tournaments anytime soon. The IIHF suspended Russia from international play after the invasion of Ukraine. The IIHF suspension of Fedotov doesn't affect his ability to play in the NHL.
Sept. 1, 2023: CSKA has its regular season opener ... and starts Fedotov. KHL president and former Penguin Alexei Morozov releases a statement essentially saying that because they disagree with the IIHF ruling, they're going to do what they want: “The KHL accepted this roster in accordance with our central database, therefore Fedotov can play. Neither the KHL nor the club agree with the IIHF’s decision, which infringes the constitutional rights of a Russian citizen to work. Russia’s prosecutor general spoke in defense of the player, and sent a message to the Russian Hockey Federation, the club and the league about the consequences of violating his right to work and insisting that Fedotov be allowed to take part in the championship.”
Fedotov allowed five goals in a loss in the opener.
That same day, the IIHF fined CSKA 5,000 Swiss Francs (roughly the equivalent $5,600 USD) for playing Fedotov, and says that if Fedotov continues to play, CSKA will be subject to further sanctions.
Since then, CSKA has played two games. Fedotov has been dressed and listed as the backup for both. Those are still violations, even though he didn't start.
To sum things up: The KHL is going rogue and setting a dangerous precedent. This is the first time the league has totally disobeyed the IIHF, and it'll be interesting to see how the IIHF moves forward here.
The Penguins have three prospects in Russia: Goaltender Sergei Murashov, drafted in the fourth round in 2022 and the Russian junior league's top goaltender last season; forward Kirill Tankov, drafted in the seventh round in 2021 and playing in the Russian second league after missing all of last season with a broken neck; and forward Mikhail Ilyin, drafted in the fifth round this summer and starting the year in the KHL.
NHL signing rights don't expire for players drafted out of Russia because of the lack of a formal transfer agreement between the NHL and Russia. The Penguins hold onto their NHL rights indefinitely.
Russian teams playing dirty to try to keep their top players isn't new. Evgeni Malkin had to escape to get to Pittsburgh in 2006. His club Magnitogorsk convinced him to play one more year in Russia after he was drafted by the Penguins to show his loyalty to the city and country. He did that, but the next summer team officials followed him to his home and coerced him into signing a one-year deal. The team had his passport, so he couldn't leave on his own. Magnitogorsk had an August tournament in Finland to start the year, so Malkin had his passport, and he hid in Finland for a few days until he could get a U.S. visa and flight to Los Angeles.
With Russian teams and the national teams not playing in other countries now because of the bans due to the invasion of Ukraine, prospects like Fedotov don't have the same opportunity to escape while in another country.
As an aside, this whole situation shows why the hope some fans had to ban Russian players from the NHL because of the invasion of Ukraine is totally misguided. ... You have the league and its government-owned teams doing all they can to keep one guy sticking around at home, even sending him to a military base in Siberia for a year. Giving the KHL all their top players back would be a dream for Russia and the KHL.

George Michael Bluth
A Quick Look at one of my favorite characters
Arrested development is basically like a series of unfortunate events if it were made into an adult comedy.
So the sadder parts are all left as jokes or punchlines.
When really, if it were a drama, the characters would appear completely different.
Tumblr media
George Michael is a key example of this, he’s held to almost perfection standards by his dad, who he also would spend all his time with until he gets a girlfriend. Like his dad makes him go on atkins for literally no reason and he clearly hates it but is too scared to say anything.
Or when he gets an A- on a test (still an A though) and when he comes home and shows his dad and says “I got an A!” And his dad keeps cutting him off and saying “minus” before telling him to get back to his room and study. Later his dad walks in on him studying and literally beating himself up over not getting a problem, calling himself stupid over and over again.
Of course, this is the episode where Michael (his dad) and Lindsey (Michael’s twin) are arguing over parenting. She says he’s too strict and is going to give George Michael a nervous breakdown. Naturally, after walking in on George Michael beating himself up, he tells him to stop and go do something fun. George Michael is very reluctant because he never really does that. He ends up going right to work, because he doesn’t have anything else to do.
Naturally, during this short period of parental freedom, George Michaels uncle Buster (the one who still lives with his mother and is basically a toddler) comes to see him at work to ask him for drugs. Michael has always taught George Michael that “family first” is the most important rule, so of course he keeps it a secret at busters request and tries to get drugs for him. This leads to him going to his uncle Gob, leaving a note asking for drugs, leading to a whole mix up where Michael thinks that he gave George Michael too much freedom and has now caused his son to develop a drug habit.
Rising action, rising action, climax where everything comes to a head with fake cops and real cops and fake drugs and real drugs and weird misunderstandings until everything is laid out, all is forgiven, and things go back to normal
However, since this show is a comedy show, we don’t focus on the fact that George Michael never actually was able to utilize the freedom his dad had given him, instead opting to use his newly free time to take on a really big favor from his family member instead of doing something for himself
His gimmick is that he’s awkward, and comparatively uptight to Maeby’s street smarts and irresponsibility. It creates a fun dynamic for comedy stories, but when you watch it as many times as I have you start to see some of the more serious character traits that are glossed over
This back and forth can only continue if there is no real character development in each of the ensemble members, hence the end of an episode essentially hitting reset on shenanigans for everyone. George Michael is a great character for that because even during the one chance he had to be free or do something for himself, he yet again took on a task that someone in his family asked him to do and assumed he could do it. So when those opportunities of development present themselves, realistically he wouldn’t take them. And if he did, his character development would have to be so minute that it’s barely noticeable.
If this show were a drama, I think there would be considerable emphasis placed on the parallels of George Sr’s relationship with Michael and Michael’s relationship with George Michael. Animosity about the relationship between Michael and George Michael is only brought to Michael’s attention in season four when he is told that is the father-son relationship Ron Howard wanted to make a movie about.

My thoughts and theories after S02E04
This theory is based on my feelings, moments from trailers, footage from filming and statements from the show's creators in interviews. And maybe things I've read in the last few weeks.
Tumblr media
The first four episodes showed us that everything that happens is important for the later plot. And every decision can affect the further development of the story. And as the end of the fourth episode will show us, the decisions and actions of the characters were not always the right ones. If the creators wanted to show the "wrong way", I think they succeeded more than well. Like seriously, everything was slowly going to hell… with destroyed timelines, ruined lives and the death of innocents. And then there is the development of the characters and their decisions.
Yes, Loki's development was amazing (like, for example, his speech in the pie land was just great) but at the same time, you can see that he is not happy and not on top of things. Yes, there is situational humor, he wants to help, he wants to solve the problems and there is no place for "being cool and without worries" but I mean you can tell that he feels alone. He often looks resigned. He lost the life he knew and is in one round of events. Moreover, he feels rejected by Sylvie and his feelings are hurt by the misunderstanding with her.
Sylvie has found a new life, but her "I'm happy" and "everything I've done is fine" sounds like her self-delusion. She exhibits behavior that Loki would have before. Being on top of things, hiding feelings, having heightened emotions in a confrontation. But there are moments when you can see that it bothers her and in the finale it was shown that she is starting to see the whole context of things. But it's too late. Maybe that's why Loki knows that Sylvie needs to start seeing things through her own eyes. And it's all the more difficult when he understands exactly why she is the way she is. But at the same time, he fears that her "happy mask" might be real. And that there is no hope for "we'll figure it out together".
And there's also Mobius and his "bad day at the office". This is certainly not the path his character is meant to take. Being surrendered, not wanting to know anything about the past and solving problems with lime pie and hot chocolate from the cocoa machine (but not gonna lie, I totally get it).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then there is the other side of the coin. We have seen that when Loki and Sylvie are together, they are stronger. And if they clear things up and talk (as much as possible) it will move them forward. The problem is that they ran out of time to solve the problems. So what will happen in the next two episodes?
My theory is that the first scene of S02E05 will be the same as S01E01. Loki in the desert. The entire current plot will be his time loop. Yeah, maybe we shouldn't go that far. Maybe it will be right after the Citadel. But the trailers tell us we'll see a scene from his arrest at TVA, as well as their fight from the season one finale. Either he actually comes back and relives everything, or he comes back and with it his time slip problem and tries to change specific moments.
But the problem here is that I don't know how it will work with his memory of previous events. If he knew everything, he could try to change things, but he could change too much. And the memories of others? If everyone took different steps, it would change too many things. Plus, we don't want Loki to lose his relationship development with Sylvia, with Mobius and the others. So it's hard to say how this will be resolved. Additionally, his time slip and ability to change the past is still very vaguely explained. Why can he do this? Why after Citadel?
Then there's the second McDonald's scene and the bar scene with Sylvie. If he had his memories, he could have found her right after the Citadel. For her, it could be sooner than a few months and she could be more open in conversation with him. Joining forces sooner might help. And it can help even more if the two are actually okay with each other. Be that as it may, they are the ones who matter in all of this. He Who Remains made it clear. But their different view of things, their scattered feelings were part of bad decisions. What if fixing their relationship could also fix TVA's future?
Or maybe the past? What if the real solution is in the distant past. At the beginning of TVA. Maybe Loki can change the foundations and build a better one. There may be several attempts. From start to finish. Many falls and losses. Maybe this loop will last for days, weeks or years. It would be crazy, but the idea of Loki falling in love with Sylvie over and over again is actually quite romantic, no? But yes, it's actually quite terrible. Not being able to move on with unfulfilled wishes.
Tumblr media
Then there's Loki and his "sacrifice" at the Temporal Loom platform. It's still unclear to me here because I thought this scene will be in S02E04. But everything was different. I sincerely hope this isn't a scene to show us the next (or even final) death of Loki. This idea is already very overused. Yes, he deserves to be a hero. But they also deserve something else - to be happy. Is it a cliché? Maybe yes, but I really wish so. What if it's the point, everyone will be afraid that he will die. But what if it made him even stronger? But it would be pretty cool wouldn't it? If Loki was the real Time Keeper after all of this?
I love this show, but I care more about the characters and their future than TVA. I am a sensitive in this, who wants everyone who deserves it to have their happy ending. So let's see, we have two more episodes. Hopefully they will give us what we and they deserve. It's going to be a long wait. These weeks are longer than the two years since the first series.

MY REVIEW ON PSYCHO PASS PROVIDENCE
Disclaimer: I’ve been Psycho Pass fans since (roughly) 9 years ago. I’ve never want to write any reviews on the series until now because I NEED THIS TO GET OUT OFF MY HEAD, and there’s some things I don’t understand. Still, I’m just a fan, this review is based on my opinion only. After I finish this so called essay, I found more question than answer, so if you don’t want extra headache, don’t read it. Also if you’re not Kouaka shipper, pass it, you’ll find me annoying.
Apologize beforehand if there’s any typo or any missed info. I hope you understand my write (English isn’t my first language, so I struggled a lot.)
This post consist on four part; review, my opinion on character, relationship, and my irregular thoughts throughout scene.
BEWARE OF THE SPOILERS.
..
STORY, CHARACTER
PPP occur after Kougami’s return to Japan. Shorty after, Peacebreaker make their way to steal Stronskaya Paper for their gain, terrorize everyone that blocked their plan. Akane can’t stay still after witnessing horrible acts of this group and their leader, determine to arrest them along with division 1 and SAD team.
Overall story is pretty straightforward, which I like. They make a new storyline and new interesting character and villain, makes it compelling. A new system like General is a fresh idea, rather than just stick with Sybil System. We actually can relate to villain, learn through his trauma and backstory, eventually we feel sympathy for him. Not to mention some cool stunt and action.
Aside from storyline, what makes this more interesting is we get to see relationship development between Kougami, Akane and Ginoza before S3. The three OG character since s1, and how they see each other now.
Akane, as a main character can finally have some development also in the end of the movie. I wish they explore it more.
MUSIC, VISUAL & ANIMATON
The music director did a good job on this. The music match with the atmosphere of the scene so well, so we, as an audience totally immerse in the story. Some soundtrack even take samples from season 1, create nostalgic feeling into it.
Production I.G did it again for visual animation! Texture detail, smooth animation and background image is top tier. I have no right to complain anything.
OVERALL CONCLUSION (7.5/10)
This is what movie should be. Action, good plot, good character development. I had so much fun than I expected to be and recommend to every anime fan to watch it.
..
MY OPINION ON CHARACTERS:
Kougami
Kougami being Kougami again. Ever since SS3, I think we truly knows what kind of person he is, and he’s never change. That might be the reason why he didn’t regret what he’s done. Some people care for his well being though, like Prof. Saiga and Akane, she’s concern he might be used as violence tool only, that’s why she actually wanted to bring him back to CID.
In this movie, aside from being agent, it’s refreshing to see him being a detective mode even for a little moment, like the scene he had with Shion, because apparently he has brain too :/
2. Akane
Some thing never change, Akane and her unshakeable trust to the system. Like I mention before, I wish they explore more the moment before she took the action.
Throughout the film, she seems more emotional than usual. Her explosive anger remind me of s2 Akane so much.
After the incident, I was speechless of how brave she is to let it all go. Imagine your flawless, peaceful, secure life suddenly take turns and now all people will label you as unhinged. She earn my respect.
3. Ginoza
He’s truly MVP, along with Sugo. He basically carried everyone, especially how he help Sugo and Frederica.
His interaction with Kougami at first is amusing and predictable. He only mad for awhile, before he finally accept him again. At the end, his face shown frustrated for Akane’s decision, leaving everything that she achieve so far. I wonder if he feel failed again to ‘save’ his friend.
4. Frederica
She’s the perfect example of good subordinate, I think. She’s the type who obedient to her boss, not judging or question Yabuki’s decision. The contrast between her and Akane in this aspect made me laugh and make me realize that Akane is such a rebel, (lol). But she wouldn’t rebel if Sybil wasn’t an asshole.
5. Akira
Sad tool to Yabuki and Shindo :’( Seriously, he remind me so much of Kougami. Akira is selfless, willing to sacrifice himself as undercover agent for MoFA. Not to mention he even beat Kougami and Sugo in close fight, state how strong he is. If it’s not because of his kindness to spare Kougami on that scene with Tonami possessing Yabuki, Kougami would be dead by now. I think that’s why Kougami make frustrated face when he die. Seriously, his death is such a shame. He also makes me think that Kougami wouldn’t end up like Tonami, but more like him, because until PP3, the man doesn’t have ambition.
..
RELATIONSHIP OPINION:
Kougami and Akane
Idk if some people see this relationship is sink, or whatever. For me it’s actually the opposite. Akane FINALLY understand Kougami a little more. Even inspired by him. I don’t know exactly what she see in Kougami that inspire her to shot Kasei, is it because despite his CC, he actually have conscience, and ‘certain’ reason to commit crime, thus leads to make people questions (and debate) his justice?
(I’m an idiot to not know this, lol).
Akane care for him. I know the official denied romance between them, but she clearly care for him. She doesn’t want him to work like a bloodthirst hound, and value his life. At the same time I can also see what writers planning to do with him since Desmond Rutaganda address him in PP movie.
I also notice they cut down their screen time together, even some scene that usually involve in face zooming, now they don’t. They could make their reunion so much more friendly, but they choose not to. (My guess is because they’re main characters, they can’t become lovers, that could potentially mislead the genre.) Honestly, this is so sad. If they can’t make them canon, why bother making such a great dynamic between them. Male and female can’t be friends, if you ask me. It’s too late for sudden change between them.
It’s a shame because I miss them being a partner again. Fight side by side.
Anyway, probably the only person who support her deeds is just Kougami. Regarding the convo these 2 have after he shot Tonami will address later.
2. Ginoza and Akane
Ginoza intention to become shield for her is honestly so pure. His reasoning sounds like personal feelings rather than fulfilling his duty as enforcer. Other than that, I’m more curious about his feelings after the incident. From what I see through his frustrated face and kind of ‘resentment’ face in PP3, my guess he’s somewhat angry to her for sacrifice her life (and angry at himself). I wonder what kind of face he’d make if he knew Kougami inspired her (lol, rip Kougami.)
3. Kougami and Frederica
Not so much thought, beside Kougami actually look angry at her when he lied to the team and professor. Though only angry for a second, he quickly being professional again when Akane mad at Frederica. (and look at Akane face, she’s shock and somewhat feel distance because her ex-enforcer standing up to his new boss.) Poor choice of words, Kougami.
My thoughts and issues will have another post.

10th January 1945 saw the birth of pop star Rod Stewart.
Although born in London Rod’s father was Scottish and he counts himself as a Scot. Stewart performed in several bands in the 1960s including Python Lee Jackson and The Faces. He worked a series of odd jobs, including working as a grave digger, before his singing career took off
Embarking on a solo career, Maggie May became his first hit single in 1971 Stewart moved to the United States in 1975. The next year, he reached the top of the U.S. charts with “Tonight’s the Night” from A Night on the Town. Stewart continued to have a slicker, more pop sound as the decade progressed. He also developed a reputation for his partying lifestyle and for dating numerous actresses and models. With 1978’s Blondes Have More Fun, he had another smash hit single with “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
The 1980s proved to be more challenging for Stewart. While 1981’s Tonight I’m Yours went platinum, the albums that followed did not fare as well. He ended the decade on a positive note, however. His remake of the Tom Waits song “Downtown Train” in 1989 received a lot of radio play. A few years later, he released Unplugged and Seated, which was recorded at an MTV Unplugged concert and featured the hit “Have I Told You Lately.”
With his distinctive throaty, almost scratchy-sounding voice, Stewart decided to take on some of the classic songs and make them his own with It Had to be You: The Great American Songbook. He recorded four volumes of the Great American Songbook series, and won his first Grammy Award (best traditional pop vocal album) for Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III in 2004.
At the age of 60, Stewart became a father for seventh time. His son, Alastair Wallace Stewart, was born on November 27, 2005. This was his first child with then fiancée Penny Lancaster. The couple married in 2007 and welcomed a second son, Aiden, in 2011. He also has a daughter, Kimberly, and a son, Sean, from his first wife Alana Stewart and a daughter named Ruby with former girlfriend Kelly Emberg. Rod also has two children from his marriage to model Rachel Hunter—Renee and Liam. Stewart publicly acknowledged his oldest daughter, Sarah Streeter, in 2013. Streeter was born when Stewart was only 18 years old, and he and the girl’s mother had decided to put their baby up for adoption. Stewart and Streeter first met in 2008.
In 2006, Stewart returned to rock music with Still The Same: Great Rock Classics of Our Time. The album reached the top of the pop charts in October of that year. Stewart put down the microphone and picked up a pen to write his 2012 memoir Rod: The Autobiography. The following year, he made an impressive return to songwriting with his album Time. Stewart co-wrote many of the record’s songs as well as serving as a co-producer on the project.
Although reaching his 77th birthday Rod shows no signs of living a quiet pensioner lifestyle, he and his son were involved with an altercation in Florida, with Rod throwing a punch at a security guard after he refused them entry to an event. He will need to be careful or he might end up being arrested by wife, Penny, who as well as working as a model, has volunteered as a Special Constable in the police.
Rod continues to release music, a new album is due out soon.
Strewart and his family spent the festive season in Scotland at the Gleneagles hotel. The generous singer bSowled over the saff when he decided to offer them £10,000 as a compliment for their hard work over the festive period.
He then jokingly suggested staff should put it to good use and stick every penny of it on Scotland to win the Euros this summer., let's hope we certainly do well!
Stewart, who is due to release a new album next month, said: “I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world and the service at Gleneagles is second to none.
“The staff do a terrific job at a very hectic time of the year and deserve every penny. It’s Scottish hospitality at its very best.”
On his tip, he joked: “I advised the boys and girls at Gleneagles to invest the money wisely – stick the lot on Scotland to win the Euros.”
No matter what you think, nobody can deny his Scottish heritage or love for Scotland
Rod played Edinburgh Castle last year and I love this wee clip that captured the moment his 94 year old sister joined him on stage as he belted out Sailing.

Talking with @rogueleader14 about our respective Star Wars AUs made me decide to share more characters who exist in it, as well as their stories. As I've alluded to elsewhere, this AU draws on all corners of Star Wars canon, be it Disney, Legends, LEGO, or in this case, Visions. I finally got around to watching both seasons this year, and I jumped at the chance to incorporate some of the characters in my AU. These are the micros I've made so far for these characters. Story details under the cut. All of them are in the post-Return of the Jedi setting.
-The Ronin, real name Douga Heian, was a child during the Clone Wars, his Force-sensitivity never manifesting until later in life. By the time that happened, the Empire had risen and he was picked up by the Inquisitorious rather than the Jedi. Though a promising talent and initially loyal to the Empire, he gradually became more aware of the Empire's corruption and went awol, laying low and even starting a family. After Palptaine's death at Endor, former Inquisitors and other Imperial Dark Jedi began running amok as warlords and independent raiders, prompting Douga to come out of hiding and hunt down his former contemporaries.
*I chose his name by combining Kamikaze Douga, the animation company that made The Duel, and the Heian period of Japan (794 to 1185), where the term ronin came from.
-Am and Karre's story is mostly the same, albeit toned down CONSIDERABLY. Here, their creation was overseen by Sebban Keto, a character from a roleplaying game who is descended from Aleema and Sataal Keto from the Tales of the Jedi comics. Sebban intended to revitalize the Krath cult with the twins at the head, but Karre's defection puts those plans on hold. Karre steadily grows into more of a true Jedi as he journeys on his own, while striving to save his sister from the dark path.
*Karre wields a dual-phase lightsaber with a unique gradient crystal. While obviously nowhere near as big as in the short (closer to Pong Krell's blades for reference), it still grows much longer and thicker, enabling a greatsword style of combat.
*Am initially only carried her two normal lightsabers, but installed the prosthetic arms and built the extra four after Karre went rogue.
-F, real name Ephalline Kinema (also taken from the name of the studio), is mostly intact for her story in the Village Bride. Specifically, her feet were maimed while escaping Order 66, forcing her and her master to take refuge for medical treatment. Her ridiculous high heels are actually prosthetics here. Ephalline was still recovering when Darth Vader tracked her master down, and she was forced to watch helplessly as he was cut down. Post-Village Bride, F wanders the galaxy to do good wherever she can, eventually leading her to Tao...
-Lop and Ocho's story is also unchanged. Several years later, Ocho has risen to be the Imperial magistrate of her homeworld, while Lop has fallen in with fellow Lepi smuggler Jaxxon T. Tumperakki to make ends meet. During one of their runs, they bump into F, who recognizes Lop's potential as a Jedi and offers to train her. This development, combined with Ocho's difficulties in arresting her sister (due in no small part to her conflicting loyalties), leads to the Empire sending an Inquisitor to "help out". Lop eventually completes her training, succedes in getting through to Ocho, and joins the New Jedi Order.
-Anni Kalfus and Julan Van Reeple enroll in a New Republic flight academy as teenagers before joining the fleet post graduation. Their rivalry continues into their service, even as they find themselves assigned to the same flight group. Thankfully, the demands of military service and the mentorship of General Thane Kyrell goes a long way towards improving their relationship. By the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the two are genuine friends and lead their own squadron with distinction.
-Jay and T0-B1 both also exist around this time period, while the events of In the Stars, Bandits of Golak, The Spy Dancer, and The Pit happen during Imperial rule.
-The Elder takes place pre-Phantom Menace
-Daal and the Sith Mother are part of the Banite line.
-Sith and Journey to the Dark Head are during the New Sith Wars, and Aau's Song is shortly after the Battle of Ruusan.
-I'm debating on where The Ninth Jedi would go in the timeline, while Akakiri is an in-universe fable.
(microheroes based on templates and parts from my List of Sources)

I was tagged by: @matbaynton - thank you! <3
Tag someone you want to know AND/OR some of your besties.
This turned into a monster of a thing so I'm sticking it under a cut!
Favourite colour: I am rubbish at this question. I love various colours in various contexts, but at the moment I am really gravitating towards greens. Green is a colour I haven't paid much attention to before, but for some reason over the last few months I have taken an interest in it. I even bought a solid green jumper!
Tumblr media
Last song: When Things Explode by Unkle. It's a song I first heard on an episode of Person of Interest and it's now on one of my YouTube music playlists. Takes me right back!
Last movie: I had to check my Letterboxd for this - that's how often I'm watching films at the moment! It was the 1995 version of Persuasion that I rewatched at the end of August. A film I only discovered recently but has become one of those instant comforting favourites.
Currently watching: Oh heck - I'm struggling to keep track, there are so many! I'm watching The English at the moment. Also Outsiders series 2, Taskmaster series 16, New Girl (on season 2), This Farming Life series 6 with my dad on a Sunday morning, All Creatures Great and Small series 4, Fletchers' Family Farm series 2, Schitt's Creek with @phantomviola (on season 5), The Musketeers (series 2) and Black Books (series 3) with @userdjarin and who could forget Our Flag Means Death season 2 which has taken over my brain! Along with all that I squeezed in a Primeval series 2 rewatch which I finished the other night. [slaps roof of my brain] this bad boy can fit so many narratives in it.
Other stuff I watched this year: HAH! I have an IMDb list of TV shows I've watched this year! It's long as heck! Silk, The IT Crowd, Black Sails, The Last of Us, Lost in Space, Endeavour, The Terror, Arrested Development, Community, Vicious, Prehistoric Planet, Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, Ted Lasso, Miranda, The North Water, His Dark Materials, And Then There Were None, Jonathan Strange & Mister Norrell, The Great British Sewing Bee, The Bear, Blackadder, 30 Rock, Chernobyl and The Expanse. And those are just the ones worth mentioning! And some of these I watched four times! Okay, one thing. Okay, it was The Terror.
As for films, it's a poor show this year - I haven't watched as many (see above for reason why). I have seen the latest Spiderverse film and I've love to see Barbie!
Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: The Mandalorian (sob!), Vikings (I think I was maybe an episode or two shy of finishing the first season but... man... I just wasn't having fun), My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (to be fair this might have been last year, I can't remember, but I know I stopped a few episodes into season 2), Fleabag (I watched one or two episodes... wasn't quite for me).
Currently reading: Darwin by Adrian J. Desmond and James R. Moore (about 100 pages in but I'm taking this one slow because I'm not hyperfixating on him) and Dead Famous by Greg Jenner which I am taking even slower. I've read quite a few books related to the Franklin Expedition this year (thanks, The Terror) and for a while I was reading pretty solidly but I guess that's what hyperfixation does to you!
Currently listening to: I'm not really listening to music much these days thanks to YouTube's annoying ad blocker pop-up so I'm typing this in silence, haha! But podcast-wise I'm doing great. Three Bean Salad is probably my favourite podcast at the moment. The humour is just too good, and I look forward to hearing the lads every week. I'm also binging The Rest is History which is a bit more serious but still has its fun moments. I'm also listening to Off Menu, No Such Thing as a Fish, The Bones Booth, Taskmaster: The Podcast, The Mariner's Mirror Podcast, and odd episodes of RHLSTP if I know the guest. I save podcasts for when I'm doing something like washing the dishes, walking or driving.
Currently working on: Now that the puppy I found at the end of August is vaccinated, she can go out and about, and that has led to me abandon the polymer clay for a while to return to a hobby that I haven't spent much time on since early 2020 at the latest. I wanted to make her some nice collars and leads so she looks smart for our walks which I will inevitably be photographing. I know it's kind of hard to see but I made this collar and lead for her.
Tumblr media
I was a bit worried that I'd forgotten how to sew the leather but thankfully not. I have a few more straps of leather lying around that I'd like to make into collars and leads as well. And several rope leads that need whipping (you wrap thinner twine around the thicker rope to finish it and protect the end from fraying) but I'm having to take my time with those because the twine is murder on my soft, delicate, feminine hands. I can whip maybe four leads before my fingers are red. It's worth the pain!
Current obsession: Our Flag Means Death has taken over my life once again. Whatever happens in the finale next week, I know I will be a mess. Heck, I'm already a mess.
I'm tagging: some recent mutuals so we can get to know each other, but no pressure! @tigerballoons, @woofety, @jackharkness, @jddryder, @ajcrowleys and @skatingthinandice! <3

what things do you like besides succession? that is to say if we like your thoughts on the themes slash general makeup of succession would you have any further recommendations.
ok i had to think about this wjdkdjwk honestly if anything scratched the exact same itch as succession i wouldn't be so bonkers about it. but. so the thing people will always tell you to watch is 'arrested development,' which is a good sitcom but is not really all that much like succ except superficially. there's also 'the thick of it,' which is more similar, and 'veep' (less similar, american, not really psychological in the same way; the early seasons are solid for what they are). i have some major gripes with 'mr robot,' but when it's good it's good, so throw that on the list i guess. for books i would say 'cat on a hot tin roof,' and 'king lear' and 'crime and punishment' are sort of obvious references here. 'every body' by olivia laing is kind of annoying but it's about wilhelm reich, so it feels wrong not to shout it out here. 'choke' by chuck palahniuk and 'the four humors' by mina seçkin both do different neat things with bodily fluids and functions. 'uncanny valley' by anna weiner is funny if you want to shit on startup culture for a couple hours. also i think zola's 'germinal' is actually kind of an intertext via discourses of lamarckism lol

okay let’s do more
thoughts on gwen + lancelot
ohhhhhhhhh, this is a good one—so many thoughts on these two.
okay, in order to ~properly~ give you my thoughts on them, i also have to give you my thoughts on arthur and gwen. more specifically, season one arthur and gwen.
when we meet lancelot in season one, i'm sorry, but it doesn't look like arthur and gwen are going to be together at all. there are several points (too many, tbh) where arthur arrests her or someone related to her (like her father) without even flinching. the only reason he ever intervened was due to morgana initiating it and bringing athur into the conversation. overall, arthur really doesn't care about gwen. there's nothing wrong with it. it's not his fault; he just doesn't know her. he cares about people like merlin and morgana far more.
enter: lancelot. i will admit, the part where lancelot is supposed to fall in love with gwen is arguably terrible. horrible. abysmal, if you will. but the actual love? *whistle* it's awesome. (and to be fair, arthur's and gwen's was pretty bad too. obviously wayy better, but still bad.) they're so sweet and loving to each other, and you can really tell that they would make such a good couple with good communication and just a healthy relationship in general. they could have been so great, but they ditched gwen and lancelot for arwen. remember, up until this point, arthur did not give two shits about gwen. then suddenly, out of the blue, they fall in love in an episode in season two after showing no signs of this in season one?? especially when the only relationships that would have made sense when building off of season one were gwen and lancelot??? i'm sorry, it just doesn't make sense to me.
but that isn't even my biggest problem with all this. my biggest issue with both gwencelot and arwen is that they gave us this dramatic love triangle and did... absolutely nothing with it.
i'm sorry, where's the drama? where's the emotional turmoil? where's the who could i possibly choose of these two completely different men, the blonde one or the brunette one? they set up a scenario that should have had so much drama and angst and just completely ditched it in favor of making lancelot leave and not return until like season three for AN EPISODE before FINALLY coming back semi-permanently in season four. like. what?? but honestly, that could've been fine, if gwen expressed any kind of loyalty or devotion to lancelot!! of course they weren't in a relationship, so she wasn't under any moral obligation to, but gwen obviously really cared about him. it felt so odd to me when the show writers just dropped gwencelot like a hot potato so they could pick up arwen and show it off to everybody, like baby simba in the lion king. yk what im talking about. it just felt so out of character to me.
even worse? gwen and lancelot never once have a real conversation about their feelings!! there's one verge-of-death "i love you" (kind of) from lancelot in season two, but again, he disappears and gwen never has the chance to really communicate to him whether she reciprocates or not (which she probably did.) then, when lancelot comes back again, her and arthur are together and that whole drama isn't really addressed.
overall, i think gwen and lancelot could have been such a great relationship if it had just been given the time to properly grow and develop. instead, they only gave it to us in tiny patches without actually developing the relationship, so all we were left with was this sad mess.

Gale poorly explains legend of Korra
(I would normally have done this by season, so for the sake of sanity. Here is season 1)
Gale poorly explains: Legend of Korra (season 1)
-“Aang is gone and we need to find the new avatar”
-Tiny Korra bursts in
Korra: “Sup bitches! I’m the avatar”
-“Sure is kyoshi up in here”
———————————————————————-
(15 years later)
(Korra shows up in republic city)
Korra: Time to act like a female protagonist in the 2010s
(Proceeds to get arrested)
Lin: I’m a straight lace cop that is completely the opposite of my mother toph who has a metal pole up her ass.
Tenzin: I’m Aang’s son and I have to reign Korra in this season and will fail miserably.
Korra: I’m gonna slay at air bending
(Proceeds to get messed up)
Tenzin: Korra meet my family.
Pema: Hi, I’m the woman that is single handedly restoring the Air nomads until season 3. I also stole Tenzin from Lin
Jinora: Hi I’m Jinora, the only character that people like in all four seasons of the show and considered the best addition to the cast.
Ikki: I’m the annoying middle child that will piss off EVERYONE for stopping them from hearing about Zuko’s mom.
Meelo: I make fart jokes. I am one of the comic reliefs.
Korra: Well this is a thing… I’m gonna go pro bend
___________________________________
Bolin: Hey I’m the actual comic relief, and the second best character in the show. I will be trying to date you until you end up kissing my brother… in which case I will get over it after an episode
Mako: hey, im the tsundere dude that looks so generic that people wonder why im a main character. But apparently that’s sexy.
Korra: it is. I can’t wait to kiss you and cause more drama. But first a sport that makes very little sense and is really nerfed for the earth bending team.
(Winning at pro bending!)
Amon: I am part of the Equalist movement. A movement which actually makes little sense in retrospect because there are no rules descriminating against normal people, if anything it’s more like benders have it rough considering the amount of bending criminals.
Korra: He’s stealing bending! He must be stopped!
_____________________________________
Asami: Hey, I’m the hot non-bending rich girl that is a genuinely good person and I have way more chemistry with Korra than Mako, but for this season and next will be a Mako simp.
Mako: Cool
Korra: I hate her… but also am attracted to her.
Bolin: I’m just here to have fun
Hiroshi: I’m Asami’s father and totally cool with my daughter dating a filthy fire bender
_____________________________________
Tarrlok: I’m the sketchy mayor that is actually really creepy and trying to get you on bored to fight Amon.
Korra: I’m down.
(Joins the force and gets traumatized)
Korra: Yea… he is horrifying.
Lin: I’m quitting the force. Now for some character development.
_____________________________________
Bolin: Back to Probending
Tenzin: I was originally against this but now I’m a fan of this game.
(Their opponents cheat and win)
Tenzin: Is that ref Blind!? Wtf!
Korra: They cheated!
(Amon arrives and delivers karma by stealing the bending of the opponents)
Korra: okay that’s a bit Effed up.
____________________________________
Tarrlok: Now I’m gonna enforce some laws that will give the Equalists reasons to actually rebel
(Arrests Korea’s friends)
Korra: Could you not arrest my friends!
Tarrlok: No, now bend the knee
Korra: No, cause I realize you are a creepy f***er. And I will never let an obviously evil water bender trick me into helping ever again… (stay tuned for season two)
Tarrlok: Kidnapping it is!
(Reveals bloodbending)
Korra: OP please nerf
_____________________________________
(Korra learns about the blood bending past from Aang)
Aang: Long story short. Cameos and Yakone was a dick to everyone.
Korra: Dang.
(Everyone learns Tarrlok lied)
Tarrlok: Well it doesn’t matter, no one can beat me with my blood bending
Amon: I heard that you were talking s*** and you didn’t think that I would hear it.
(Steals Tarrlok’s bending)
Korra: I’m outtie (flees)
_________________________________
Amon: Time to take this city!
(Takes city)
Iroh: I’m a reference to Iroh and have Zuko’s voice. I’m immediately the best character this season. Unfortunately I’m useless right now
Korra: So we have to stop Amon. Oh look it’s the jerk mayor.
Tarrlok: Amon is actually my brother. He’s a blood bender.
Korra: Gasp! Oh wait I knew that
_____________________________________
Asami: Sorry dad, I’m not joining your equalists. Your group claims it’s fighting against controlling regimes only to become one as soon as you get power. It’s very hypocritical.
Hiroshi: Hey! Our protests were mostly peaceful. Now let us use our weapons to kill your friends.
_____________________________________
Amon: Ready for me to steal your bending
(Cue fight scene)
Amon: I stole your bending
Korra: not my air bending.
(Blasts him out the window causing him to expose himself as a bender)
Equalists: Gasps! Our leader is a bender. We’ve been lied to. This somehow ruins our movement.
Amon: (revealed to be Noatak) I must flee now.
____________________________________
Korra: Well I am only an airbender now.
Aang: but what if you weren’t. (Restores bending)
Korra: Bitching, time to fix everything
___________________________________
Noatak: Hey bro, sorry about stealing your bending let’s GTFO
Tarrlok: How about double suicide
(Off screen explosion)
____________________________________
Mako: So are we dating now
Korra: Yep!

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ THE CURSE ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
"The Curse" is a seldom known and enigmatic condition where the infected individual begins sprouting hornlike growths all over their body, eventually disfiguring them into a mound of calcified flesh and bone. Only around 5 known people have been infected.
It is separated into 4 distinct stages.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ STAGES ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
STAGE ONE In the first stage, many of the symptoms can be easily mistaken as a flu or other common illness. It can also be mistaken as seasonal allergies or urticaria. This is the list of identified symptoms.
- Unexplained fever - Ache or neuropathic itch - Ache inside the muscle and bones - A feeling of something underneath the skin - In rare cases, avoidance of other people.
This stage can be referred to as the "false flu" stage.
STAGE TWO After the first stage, symptoms usually progress 4-8 weeks later, however, it has been reported that it can be as little as 2 weeks. Small growths that have a similar shape of horns start to develop from underneath the skin, these growths typically appear on the face, neck, and shoulders. The growths are often darkly colored and can be easily overlooked by others. Usually, this stage is slightly painful but can be relieved through generic over-the-counter pain medication.
STAGE THREE Soon after, the growths will begin spreading to other parts of the body, as well as continuing to increase in size. This is usually extremely painful as the growths are beginning to tear apart flesh and muscle, along with having a chance to puncture internal organs, break bones, and paralyze the infected. In some cases, the skin surrounding the growths can begin to mutate and resemble said growths. Infected individuals usually die in this stage due to cardiac arrest.
STAGE FOUR If the infected individual hasn’t died yet, the curse will progress even more. The growth will spread to the rest of the body, likely completely paralyzing the infected. Because of this, it is hard for the infected to survive on their own due to not being able to eat, drink, or breathe. The growth may even spread to the hair, calcifying it too. Victims in this stage are unrecognizable and are often in a coma-like state.
There is a "Stage 5" which refers to the curse still taking over the body even after death.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ PROGNOSIS ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
65% of victims die due to other causes(such as euthanasia, whether voluntarily or not.) while only 35% due to the curse itself.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ TREATMENT ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
There isn’t any known treatment other than relieving symptoms via nitrous oxide for sedation and hydrocodone for pain.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ PREVENTION ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
There isn’t any known ways to prevent it as the cause is unknown other than staying healthy and practicing good hygiene.
