#Better be worth my time.. {Open Starter}
Text
Was there a chance he was going a little too extra with things? Considering that at most, he'd just end up drinking with his usual crowd at Mama's bar, or maybe getting invited to some other party... Yeah, maybe so. But even if that was the case, it wasn't slowing Minato down any.
Tumblr media
First had been the suit, a simple enough look with the black and silvery-white pinstripes. Though, the jacket was a fun touch in his option... Plus, the tattered looking ribbon that he'd swapped a tie for. Next was something he didn't often do for himself, but, in this case it was sorta called for... Pulling back his hair, first was a pale foundation, which was blended out for a better match and transition.
Next, came eyeshadow-- Mainly monochrome shades, with maybe a touch of blues and purple... Plus a silver glitter. And lastly for makeup was little added fun with the eyeshadow and a pencil... Sketching out, then shading and blending a skeletal grin. Letting his hair back down once happy with his work, now was something that felt a bit silly, but... If he was going this far, might as well, right?
Fetching the can of color spray, once blonde locks were dusted into something closer to white. Before being combed out a little to look a little less... Stiff. Finally, came the finishing touches with some skeleton patterned gloves, and a nice pair of dress shoes, only at that point did Minato truly stop to gauge his work in the mirror.
Tumblr media
At which point, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Well, it's definitely an improvement over last year... I can give it that much." With that little comment, he then moved into the living room, pulling his phone from his pocket along the way. Scrolling through contacts so he could see about setting up a ride, since there was little chance he'd be taking his bike after putting in the effort for all this.

You finally felt well enough to head back to work on Wednesday. Since your car was still missing under slightly mysterious circumstances, you had to ride in with Bradley.
"My mechanic said he wants you to come make some decisions about your car. We can head there after work," Bradley said. You didn't appreciate the slightly giddy tone in his voice.
"Did he say what's wrong with it?" you asked, eating a bagel while he drove.
"Just that they replaced the battery and the starter. I think he wants to talk to you about the next steps."
You glared at him. "Next steps? I better not have to replace it. I love that car."
Bradley just grinned as he drove. "I'll replace it for you, Baby Girl. You can blame it all on me."
It felt good to get back into the swing of things after being away and being sick. When Bradley texted to see if you were joining him for lunch, you sent him an angry face emoji and told him you were eating with Cam and Maria. That was the last you heard from him until the end of the day when he was knocking on your open door.
"Are you really mad at me?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe with his hand on his hip. "Because you shouldn't be. Your car has a personal vendetta against me, Sweetheart."
"My car is blameless," you said, pausing to point at him before you packed up your bag. He was wearing his short sleeved khaki uniform, and you could see his tattoo peeking out below the sleeve. It would have been impossible to be mad at him. "Take me to it."
He just shook his head and held your hand as you waited for the elevator. As you rode down to ground level, you wrapped your arms around his waist. "Remember when we listened to OutKast together in this elevator?"
He ran his hands along your back. "Of course. Then I played it at the Hard Deck, because it was stuck in my head after I knew you liked it. How embarrassing. I showed you all of my cards so early."
You giggled against him and slid your hand up his bicep and under his sleeve, stroking the inked paper airplane. "You're so sweet, Roo. Never made me second guess that you wanted to date me."
"Marry you," he rasped, kissing the top of your head as you caressed his skin. "Just had to date you long enough so we didn't seem completely crazy."
The ride to the mechanic was filled with one of Bradley's playlists while he asked you a bunch of times if you were really feeling better.
"I'll be feeling great once I'm driving my car home," you told him as he pulled up to a garage with a bunch of cars being worked on. You spotted yours parked off to the side right away.
"Please don't get your hopes up that it's even driveable, Baby Girl," Bradley was telling you, but you were already climbing down to find out what was going on.
You rushed inside the building with Bradley right behind you, and you were asking about the car before he could even get a word in. And after a moment, the mechanic was leading both of you back outside.
"I've gotta tell you, your car's been a little difficult," the mechanic explained as he led both of you to the car. "But I think after the new battery and starter, it might be okay. Doesn't start up clean each time though."
"It will for me," you insisted, glaring at Bradley over your shoulder.
The mechanic handed the keys to you, and you got yourself situated in the driver's seat. It started up perfectly for you. Three times in a row.
"I told you it would be fine!" you told Bradley, gesturing wildly at the interior of your car as you looked up at him. "No need to buy a new one."
He just stood with his arms crossed, shaking his head. "I'm paying for this then?" he asked, a smirk hiding just under the surface.
"Yes, pay this nice man for the repairs," you said, bestowing a bright smile on the mechanic who smiled back at you.
The mechanic leaned down and pointed to something on your dashboard. "Actually, while I have you here, I wanted to point out a few things that you should keep an eye on."
Bradley shook his head and sighed. "I'm going to head inside and pay."
You shooed Bradley away and listened to what the mechanic had to say about your car.
------------------------
Bradley was leaning against the counter, putting his credit card back in his wallet and looking over the detailed receipt of repairs. He supposed eight hundred dollars wasn't too bad, especially since you were so happy your car was still running. He'd figure out a way to replace your car eventually. The only issue was, he doubted you'd ever let him drive it again.
"Bradley?"
He turned to his left to see a woman about your age standing there smiling at him like she'd just won the lottery.
"Hi," he replied, desperately trying to place her. She was kind of familiar. Cute face, dark hair, nice smile. All things he liked.
She was inching closer now. "I'm Whitney. Remember? From like a year ago?"
Bradley's shoulders sagged as he exhaled. A shameful feeling of discomfort filled him up; he'd slept with her. He could remember her now. They met at some stupid outdoor concert thing he went to with Nat right after he came to San Diego. He'd taken her back to the barracks that night. He'd actually let her sleep over.
He felt sick. "No. It was more than a year ago." He knew that much for sure. He hadn't so much as flirted with anyone except you since he met you last August. Fourteen months ago.
"Well, close enough," Whitney replied, running her fingers through her hair in a way that Bradley would have probably found appealing. "I can't believe I ran into you here. Feel like grabbing a drink with me? I could give you my number again," she said in a singsong tone before nibbling on her lip. "Or... maybe you just want to follow me to my place?"
Had he really been that easy? He supposed he had. Just a pretty face and some tits had usually done the trick for him. He was embarrassed. So embarrassed for himself and for you. It was almost unbearable for him when these feelings came to the surface. He was not good enough for you, and he knew it.
You came strolling back inside, mid conversation with the mechanic before you thanked him and headed for Bradley.
"I told you, Roo! I told you my car would be fine," you said, laughing as you wrapped your arms around his waist. "Ever stop to think that maybe you're the problem?"
You were running your nose along the scars on his neck before you turned and saw how closely Whitney was still standing to him. Bradley held you a little tighter, but you froze and eyed the other woman cautiously.
"Oh," Whitney gasped, taking a small step back.
"Whitney, this is my fiancée," Bradley said with as much confidence as he could.
"Hi," you said politely before looking up at Bradley, eyes searching his for a clue as to what was going on.
But Whitney looked you up and down before focusing on Bradley with extreme agitation. "You said you never got serious. You made it a point to tell me that."
Now you seemed to understand what was happening here, because you stood a little taller, but kept your arm around Bradley. The fact that he knew you would stand here and defend him until you were out of breath made this painful ache inside him even worse. But he wouldn't let you do that for him today.
"I never got serious before," he told Whitney. Then he stroked his fingers along your cheek until you were looking up at him again. He gave you a small smile and kept his eyes on yours. "Because I didn't know this one existed yet."
Your eyes fluttered closed as you smiled up at him. He loved you so much, he hated that this was happening.
Whitney scoffed sarcastically, and Bradley watched your face return to a neutral expression before you turned toward her. "Anything else we can help you with?" you asked blandly. When Whitney just shook her head, you waved to her and said goodbye.
Bradley didn't know what to say to you as you watched Whitney walk away.
You took both of his hands in yours and kissed his lips softly. "Ready to go home?"
Bradley just grunted in agreement. "I'll follow you," he said. "In case you have any issues with your car."
"Okay," you said, your voice soft and sweet. He would have expected more of an argument about how your car was the best thing you owned, but you just nodded and agreed with him.
So he watched you get settled in the driver's seat, and he pulled out onto the main road behind you. He was glad you weren't in the Bronco to witness the emotional beating he was giving himself.
----------------------
Bradley slept with that woman. You could tell almost immediately by the interaction, but you had needed him to confirm it for you. You knew it was before you and he were together. He made it a point to say that he hadn't known you existed yet when he was with her.
You didn't care. It was obvious to you that Bradley had been with a lot of women before you. He had even told you as much. And you'd put Hangman, Payback and the other guys in their place when they tried to make Bradley feel bad about himself. You wouldn't let anyone get to him over something so dumb. But as you parked in the driveway and watched him pull in as well, you got the distinct feeling that he was already in his own head over this. And you weren't sure if you'd be able to protect him against himself.
He walked around the Bronco and opened your car door for you. "Thanks, Roo," you said. He let you take his hand, but he remained silent as you led him to the front door. "Are you hungry? We still have some of the leftover soup you got to help me feel better."
But he just shook his head and quickly unbuttoned his uniform shirt, leaving him in his white undershirt and khaki pants. "I'm not hungry," he said softly, grabbing Tramp's leash and hanging his shirt on the hook instead. "You should eat though. Don't want you to start feeling sick again."
He knelt down and clipped Tramp's leash to his collar, then he opened the front door.
"Can we talk about it, Roo?"
You watched his broad chest rise and fall, but he didn't meet your eyes. "I just... I'll be back."
"Bradley," you said firmly, fighting the urge to stomp your foot and yell at him. "I do not care about that shit. It doesn't matter to me "
But he turned further away from you. "I'm embarrassed. I can't take you to the mechanic without running into someone I hooked up with, who I can barely even fucking recognize. It's bad enough that it happens at the bar or when I'm fucking deployed."
"Bradley," you tried again. "Please look at me?"
He did exactly as you asked, but his face looked pale and pinched. His eyes were guarded, and you hesitated even though you wanted to touch him.
The words, "I love you," slipped from your lips, but he just nodded and opened the door. Tramp danced around at his feet, getting excited to go outside.
"Please, just let me take Tramp for a walk." He didn't wait for an answer, and soon you were standing in the entryway alone.
You didn't know how to reassure him. You thought about texting Phoenix for help, but what could she do? It would be a bad idea to text Jake, so you would just wait Bradley out. He had to come home eventually.
-------------------------
Bradley strolled up and down the beach in his combat boots while Tramp sniffed everything along the way. It was windy and cloudy, and nobody else was really out, which suited his mood.
He was so embarrassed. He couldn't stop thinking about the fact that you must be embarrassed, too, even if you weren't admitting it to him.
Bradley just wanted to be good for you. He wanted you to be as proud of him as he was of you. The wedding was next month, and it was pretty much all planned and ready now. Marrying you was the only thing he wanted for himself.
Tramp started dragging around a piece of driftwood as Bradley led him further up the beach. He had everything he wanted; everything had changed so much in barely a year of knowing you. He had you and Tramp and somewhere to live that wasn't temporary.
You had to know all the other women were before he met you. He'd told you that. Bradley had told you there was nobody else for him now, just you. So why did he feel so shitty?
He caught sight of his tattoo, and his embarrassment grew deeper. You wanted him to talk to you instead of stew, but he'd walked out of the house anyway. The sun was setting now, and he'd usually be showering or snuggling with you at this point in the evening.
"Fuck," he grunted, guiding Tramp up to the beach entrance trail. "Let's go talk to Mommy."
When he finished brushing the sand from Tramp's fur and let him in, it was getting dark outside. You appeared to be fresh out of the shower, wearing his old UVA shirt as you cleaned up the kitchen.
You turned to face him with wide eyes. "Cleaning the kitchen is my job," he said, trying for a teasing tone.
"Yeah, you're better at it than I am," you replied with a hesitant smile. "How was your walk?"
He took a step closer. "I'm sorry I didn't stay and talk to you."
You just shrugged. "You needed a minute to yourself. I can appreciate that. But I don't know why you're embarrassed, Roo. I didn't learn anything new today."
He just shook his head. "I know you didn't. And just to be clear, there's nothing else to learn. It's just been you since we met. You know that, right?"
The soft smile that touched your lips could have brought him to his knees. "Yeah, I know that. It was the same for me. I didn't want to date anyone when we met, or have you forgotten that? I didn't even want to date you at first," you said with a laugh. "But that didn't last long."
Your hand connected with his abs, and when he didn't stop you, he felt you wrap your arms around him. "You don't think I'm a little embarrassed that I originally intended for you to be a hookup? A hookup, Bradley. I love you more than anything else in this world, and while you were trying to tell me you were falling in love with me, I was trying to keep it casual."
He laughed as you rubbed your cheek against his chest. "Yeah, that is a little embarrassing," he agreed, already feeling better.
You looked up at him, eyes wide, demanding his attention. "You're not the only one with a past. You never make me feel bad about myself, and I never want you to feel bad either. There's a reason we both stopped hooking up when we met each other. We're supposed to be together."
He just nodded. "You know, I was embarrassed that I didn't recognize Whitney at first. Thought it was because I'd been such a manwhore. But I think maybe the reason I couldn't remember her or anyone else is because you've taken over my whole brain, Baby Girl."
Your eyes flashed with something akin to anger. "Do not call yourself a manwhore. I fucking lost it on the guys when they made you feel bad, and I'll lose it on you just the same."
He swallowed hard. "Okay. I won't."
"And if I was somehow able to make you only think of me, I'm certainly not going to complain." You nuzzled your face against his arm and kissed along his tattoo. "You're mine."
Bradley let you make him feel better. He let you heat up some soup for him, and you sat in his lap while he ate it. He let you get him cozy on the couch and snuggle as you watched a show. He let you do all that magical stuff you always did that made his heart feel full.
------------------------
Thursday was better, but by Friday, Bradley had definitely perked up.
"What time is dinner with Cam and Maria?" Bradley asked, getting changed into jeans after work.
"In an hour and a half," you told him from the bathroom where you were doing your hair.
He walked in and let his hands rest on your hips. "You look so pretty. Should I cancel golf and bar hopping with the guys tomorrow and spend the day with you instead?"
You glared playfully at him in the mirror. "Are you really golfing tomorrow? Or is that just a cover for another tattoo?"
"Don't test me, Baby Girl," he whispered, kissing your neck. "If it wasn't Coyote's birthday, I would be canceling."
"No, you should go, because I have some things I need to do tomorrow."
He kissed along your neck and you smirked. "Like what?"
"Well..." you said, turning in his arms so you were facing him. "I was hoping Daddy would give me an allowance to go lingerie shopping for the honeymoon." You looked up into his wide, brown eyes with as much innocence as you could muster without grinning. You didn't need his money for that, but you loved teasing him.
You watched his head tip back as he groaned, his Adam's apple straining. "Fuck. How much do you want?" He started fumbling in his jeans pocket. "Here, take my whole wallet."
You started laughing. "You want me to buy a lot, Roo?"
"I want you to buy everything," he said, handing you his wallet and then pushing you up against the sink vanity. "Buy it all. Lingerie, dresses, bathing suits. Whatever you want."
You were giggling as he rubbed his mustache along your cheek. "Whatever I want?"
His hands were on your zipper as he kissed you all over your face. "Use my credit cards. Drain my retirement accounts if you need to. I'll take out a second mortgage. Get whatever you want."
You tucked his wallet into your back pocket, and it took all your willpower to grab his wrist and pull his hand out of the front of your underwear. "Bradley," you whispered as he hummed next to your ear. "We can't right now. Rings, remember?"
Bradley groaned as he zipped and buttoned your jeans for you. "Picking out wedding rings is the only thing that could deter me from a quickie right now. I hope you know that."
You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him hard. "We won't stay out too late tonight."
Bradley picked you up and whispered, "We'll skip dessert, and I'll bring you home and eat you instead."
---------------------
Bradley really wanted you to pick out whichever matching wedding bands you wanted, but you insisted on getting his input.
"It's gotta be gold to match," you said, holding up your left hand which he kissed. "Your dad picked out the prettiest ring for your mom."
"He did, but that's your ring now. Pick out whatever you want to match."
He watched you look at seemingly every ring in the jewelry store before pulling out a few plain gold bands that you liked. The jeweler helped you try them on with your ring, and Bradley was already imagining slipping one of them on your finger himself.
"I like these two," you finally told him, pointing out two pairs. "You choose."
Bradley slipped the first one on his finger and smiled. It felt good. It looked good. He liked it. He swapped it out for the second one, and he saw your smile grow. He liked this one even more.
"Put the matching one back on, Baby Girl." You slid the matching band on and held your hand up for him. They were simple gold bands, and yours looked perfect with your engagement ring. "These ones, yeah?"
You just nodded and kissed him. "Yeah. I'm paying for them," you said, handing your credit card to the jeweler before he could argue. "Don't worry Daddy, I'll run up a sizeable bill on your card tomorrow."
Bradley tilted your chin up with his fingers. "You better."
He couldn't wait to get you home. But first, Bradley had to make it through dinner. Luckily, he knew Cam and Maria well enough by this point to be able to touch you the whole time without them batting an eye.
Cam smiled across the table at him while he ate his salad. "So, Bradley, you ever planning on shaving off that pornstache, I mean mustache?" he asked with a smile.
Bradley chuckled and leaned over to kiss your cheek. "That's up to this one," he replied, looking at you.
"No, it stays forever," you told Cam. "Had him shave it once. Instant regret."
"Should I be looking at bridesmaids dresses?" Maria asked. "You guys really need to pick a wedding date!"
You and Bradley shared a smirk. "Don't worry about that yet," you told your friend.
"I want to worry about it!" Maria complained. "You guys could have gotten married last year, and I feel like nobody would have thought it was weird."
Bradley appreciated your friends for how much they really did like him, and how much they obviously loved you. But there was no way they were going to get any top secret wedding intel out of either of you.
"Oh, you know what we should do, Roo?" you suddenly asked him. "Let's host a Halloween party!"
You were giving him a look. He thought this might have been your way of steering the conversation where you wanted it. "Yeah, sounds fun," he agreed, looking across the table at your friends who both looked delighted. So he'd host another party with you. That sounded like something for married people.
True to your word, you and Bradley ducked out before dessert. When Bradley buckled you into the Bronco, he pulled the wedding bands out of the glovebox and handed them to you. "Don't want to forget to take those inside later," he told you with a kiss. He watched you tuck them into your purse, and as soon as he was pulling out onto the road, your hands were on his jeans, unzipping.
"Oh, shit," Bradley groaned as you eased your hand inside his jeans and started stroking him, making him a little hard after just a few passes of your hand along his cock. "I get a handjob on the way home?" He was trying to pay attention to the road, but he glanced down to watch your hand pump him all the way to the tip and then move back down.
"Road head, Daddy," you said just before you started to shimmy yourself onto your belly.
"Hell yes," Bradley hissed as he felt your warm breath on his cock. You wasted no time, taking him deep, letting him hit the back of your throat. It took every ounce of Bradley's concentration to stay on the road as he hit the back of your throat again, making you gag. By the third time you started gagging, Bradley was panting.
You withdrew him long enough to ask, "Does Daddy like that?" Then he was gliding back between your perfect lips while you sucked on him.
Bradley ran his fingers along the back of your neck and grunted. "Daddy loves it. Just keep your seatbelt on, Baby Girl." He took the long way home, driving on backroads at a leisurely pace that seemed to match the movement of your mouth around his dick. You weren't in any hurry, and neither was he. "My God, you give the best head."
He dragged his hand down your neck and along your spine until he was palming your ass through your jeans. When he rolled up to a stop sign, he landed a hard slap that had you suddenly jerking forward and moaning.
"Fuck!" Bradley practically howled. He was seeing stars, you were taking him so deep now. He kept his foot firmly pressing down on the brake pedal and listened to the sloppy, wet sounds you were making on him. He was too close now, fucking up into your mouth.
A horn blared behind him, and he let loose a string of curse words as he manually rolled down his window and waved the car behind him around. He was going to cum, he was right on the edge. The other driver was stopping next to him and asking if he needed any help.
Bradley's head was tipped back against the headrest as the first tingles of his orgasm washed through him.
"I'm fine!" he hollered through the open window. "Oh shit, I'm so good."
"Are you sure?" the other driver asked.
Bradley just violently waved him on, saying, "My wife has it under control!"
He felt you moan, and that was it. He was filling your mouth with cum as you sucked with hollowed out cheeks until he couldn't feel his fingertips.
Bradley ended up waving on two more cars before you popped his softening cock out of your mouth and smiled up at him. "Take me home."
"Anything you want," he whispered, and you carefully zipped him back up while he drove you there.
------------------------
"You called me your wife," you gasped. "In the Bronco."
"Mmhmm," Bradley hummed against your clit as you tipped your head back against your pillow. He was gently stroking his fingers along your tattoo and holding your right foot in place on his shoulder.
"It turned me on."
"I can see that," he said, grinning up at you. "I can taste it, too. You're so wet."
You propped yourself up on one elbow and watched him work you over. He was so sexy, and every time you saw his tattoo, you clenched around his fingers. You were so close now, and you wanted to cum, so you decided to push him over the edge.
"We have wedding rings."
Yep, that did it. You collapsed back against the pillow as he went feral on you, making you cum on his face.
Bradley kissed your lips, hovering over you like he was about to do some pushups. "What did I do to deserve road head?" he whispered, nudging your nose with his until you were smiling. "Thought we would wait until we got home. Maybe make that video? But damn... you got me off good in the Bronco."
You ran your fingers gently through his hair. "You're the best. You're letting me throw a Halloween party. You're planning our honeymoon. You talked to me the other day about the stuff from your past that makes you a little embarrassed. Even though it shouldn't, Roo. But you didn't shut me out."
"I don't want to shut you out, Sweetheart. You always make me feel so much better." He eased himself down so that he was resting against your chest. "Now promise Daddy you'll buy whatever you want for our honeymoon tomorrow."
You giggled. "Promise."
"And promise Daddy you'll send some photos while you're shopping." He nipped along your breasts as your fingers wound in his hair.
You thought about what you could send to him while he was playing golf and drinking with the guys. "Promise. But it might mess up your golf game."
Bradley groaned against you. "My golf game is already bad. Just fuck it up more, Baby Girl."
-------------------------
Covered a lot of emotions in this one. Also making a lot of promises. Also getting closer to his deployment.

‘don’t expect any sympathy from me.’
‘I think it’s good that you’re sad. I hope you’ll be sad for a long time.’
‘anything is possible. anything at all. the world is full of nooks and crannies.’
‘if you tell anyone that, I’d have to kill you.’
‘you know what they say, there are none so blind as those who will not see.’
‘so what? he went crazy, and crazy people don’t give a shit.’
‘don’t move. if you move, I’ll kill you. if you scream, I’ll kill you.’
‘i’ve been threatened before.’
‘i’ve been threatened before. any cop worth their salt has been threatened.’
‘may I say that I think you’re being sort of a fool?’
‘you may be opening the door on things far beyond your ability to understand.’
‘I can’t believe that. I will never believe that.’
‘I believe that you believe.’
‘I know you made a mistake. I know you’re trying to atone for it. but what if you’re making a worse mistake by keeping on?’
‘i'm no genius, but I didn’t hit my head falling out of the dumb- tree, either.’
‘this case is like a zombie that won’t stay dead.’
‘I know how far out it is, we all do, you don’t need to keep telling us, like you’re the only sane man in the lunatic asylum.’
‘you’re making leap I’m not ready to make.’
‘I’m not a hundred percent on board with this myself.’
‘you need to at least keep the possibility in mind.’
‘if you run into something you can’t handle … back off. and come home to me.’
‘I need to tell you something, and it’s important. are you listening?’
‘you’re a good man, (name). a good man who made a bad mistake. you’re not the first to do that, and you won’t be the last.’
‘you have to live with that, and I’ll help you. make it better if you can, but please don’t make it worse.’
‘you need some sleep. you look very tired.’
‘sometimes it seems as if the more tired I am, the harder it is to go to sleep. especially if I’m worried and anxious.’
‘if you want to live, you better run for it!’
‘I have no appetite for your bullshit.’
‘you’re sort of amazing.’
‘no offense, but your sense of humor is a little weak. you should work on that.’
‘this is a horrible place, isn’t it?’
‘I can’t let you leave. it seems we’re at a standoff.’
‘people are blind to explanations that lie outside their perception of reality.’
‘you never should have come looking for me.’
‘overconfidence breeds carelessness. cops see a lot of that.’
‘that’s all you are to me—- cattle.’
‘I can’t do it again, (name). not ever. ever ever ever!’
‘that’s not me being funny, that’s true admiration.’
‘you’ve been through this before. or something like it, haven’t you?’
‘I don’t think I’ll ever be together again.’
‘sometimes life can be very poopy.’
‘is it over? that’s all I care about. is it really over?’
‘dreams are the way we touch the unseen world, that’s what I believe. they are a special gift.’
‘i'm a very curious person. sometimes that gets me into trouble.’
‘if you can’t let go of the past, the mistakes you’ve made will eat you alive.’
‘what you’re feeling … and I’m feeling … that’s normal.’
‘reality is thin ice, but most people skate on it their whole lives and never fall through until the very end. we did fall through, but we helped each other out.’

Favorite Games of 2023 Part Final: Pokemon Crystal Clear Clown Edition
Pokemon Crystal Clear is a romhack for the Gameboy Color game that mainly advertises itself as Pokemon Crystal modified so now it is entirely playable as a free roaming open world. Clown Edition is just what I called the rom of the game after creating and injecting a pokemon trainer sprite sheet into the game so I can play as my own character, Clown. I played the whole game on my New 3ds XL, it took a quite a bit of effort to get this exact version of the game working on my 3ds. It was incredibly worth it, this is not just my favorite game, but favorite 'game experience', and even easily my new pick for all time favorite pokemon game in the series.
The game itself was fun and a refreshing new way to experience a pokemon game but the overall experience of getting the game working on a hacked 3ds and playing with my own created sprites was in itself a very fun bit of hobby work. It has revived my love for playing older games on real hardware, something that I have found myself continuing to do this year. Also, seeing my own art in the game and said art feel cohesive with the world ruled and I want to experience that more in some other way. This game made me more into pokemon than I have felt with official releases in a pretty long while, and I even liked my time playing Scarlet. I loved playing on a handheld, I loved seeing the really well made art from gen 2, and I loved being able to put a bit of myself into the game as well.
Apologies for how rambley this gets, I really liked the game but still somehow found it hard to really organize my thoughts on why exactly.
I wanted to revisit this hack after briefly trying it in 2018 because of this excellent Hazel video (https://youtu.be/96YimpRHQHs). The video details various life stories while talking about favorite locations in the games getting me to think about my own favorite spots in the games and where I was personally at the time. The video also got me to start realizing that Porygon might be one of my favorite pokemon in the series and caused me to make drawings of them that I'm still quite fond of. This then made me recall Crystal Clear which contains a feature of surprisingly deep character customization including a wide selection of possible starter picks one of which being Porygon. So, compelled by the allure of having a fun adventure with a cyber duck, I picked up my hacked 3ds and started the game again.
Crystal Clear is a game that allowed for me to be even more creative about how to approach building my team and creating my own adventure out of playing pokemon. It's not for everyone, it wasn't even for me the first time I tried this game back in 2018. Crystal Clear definitely lends itself much more to the idea of creating your own fun than typical linear pokemon games where if you're not interested in that more free form exploration, the game would feel aimless. I even felt this when starting this playthrough, but the goal of pokedex completion was what encouraged to explore and discover Crystal Clear's world. The game was always surprising me in both the number of quality of life features it provided as well as fun new areas to explore or to better make the world more connected. Over time, the game felt more at home to me from getting more familiar with locations and developing a new sense of fondness for several towns in Johto I frequented. The change from a linear progression to that open ended one gave me a better sense of the world and towns had a bit more life to them as places felt more inviting to hang around in.
I love this game's implementation of the pokedex. It has been designed so it will display just about every piece of information about a pokemon, where to find them, when they evolve, what moves they learn, and so on. While the presentation is definitely clunky due to having to have all of that information on a GBC screen, I found this such an invaluable tool to have in game that for the first time in the entire pokemon series I was heavily making use of the in game pokedex for its intended purpose. Being able to look up relevant information for pokemon all entirely in game without having to have a phone/computer nearby with bulbapedia open all the time is just greatly appreciated. While the desire to keep some mystery around pokemon and how they evolve or what moves they'll learn can be part of the fun with the series, I think I just prefer being able to tell quickly if this is a stone evolution pokemon or not.
This was the first time I ever completed a pokedex in any pokemon game, something I've always wanted to do but never fully committed to the whole process. This is because of my own laziness toward how challenging that always was in proper releases due to so many pokemon being obscured behind multiple games and others being locked behind real world timed events. That or the fact that later games in the series just outright make the the act of getting a truly complete pokedex feel almost impossible. Instead, I finally accomplished a completed pokedex in a romhack that was made to make that sort of challenge feel reasonable with modified drop pools and changed events so everything within that one game is catchable. While now possible, I still found myself challenged with a game world spanning adventure of looking behind every rock, tree, and patch of grass to find every funny little guy I could. One particular memory was me spending maybe a week insisting on finding a dragonite in an encounter to catch which has a 1% chance of happening rather than spending the time leveling and evolving one instead. A very, very long process of hitting a tree over and over but made hilarious when later repeating the process for a tyranitar, another 1% chance encounter rate, was done in minutes. It was really fun having a plan ahead with how I was going to get every pokemon, constantly using expshare and other things to level guys to get them to evolve while try catching other guys. The ultimate reward of that certificate is still a pretty hilariously small, though I still kind of want to figure out a way to print mine out.
What made this game so special to me was simply just adding Clown to it. A simple change that was a surprisingly complicated process of getting a crash course on how GBC color palettes and size limitations worked and getting my hacked 3ds up to date on its software. Creating the various Clown sprite drawings was fun, I always liked working in those sorts of strict limitations. Then finally getting the injection to work and seeing my own art in game on real hardware felt surreal, something in this handheld game console I've had forever, on a game I loved for years has something I made in it. Even the process of getting all of this working, as tedious as it was moving game saves and getting color values just right, made this whole experience more special to me.
Something I figured while playing this as well as also from now having also played Dragon Warrior 1+2 and also currently Final Fantasy 5, I really love playing things on a handheld. Playing games on a handheld device has been so much more compelling of a thing to me than ever than playing on a proper TV/computer. The aspect of being able to just let the console sit on my desk and simply open and close it when interested made the feeling of investing myself into a game so much easier to approach. I want to just keep playing more old games on a handheld now, I'm already planning on other games to play and how I should definitely hack my Vita. My friends keep tempting me with one of those emulator handhelds and I don't even need one but they look really cool though.
I have so much respect for people who make fan works, hacks, and other unofficial projects it has been just amazing to see passion projects happen all the time in the gaming community. Playing this romhack that's been a years long, ongoing project in two different eras (2018 and then again in 2023) of it's existence has only further cemented my admiration. People wanting to be creative and open about their love for this form of art is such a wonderful thing to behold. These moments of creative passion being shared to everyone feels so important, reminding that the projects with the biggest budgets and names are not the end all be all of the medium, despite their desperation to be so. Thank you so much for wanting to share such lovely things with the world.

❛ Your life will take a complete change of course. Tonight. ❜
❛ Women are the natural leaders of the species. Ancient Egypt had it right. ❜
❛ I know we haven't always seen eye-to-eye, but we have to pull together now, don't we? ❜
❛ Okay, just because the door's open doesn't necessarily guarantee you a seat at the table. ❜
❛ You're not who I thought you were. ❜
❛ I really didn't want to think it, but...you're all fucking monsters. ❜
❛ Watching you shit on your principles would have been worth every fucking penny. ❜

❛ Smart girls are only sexy until they don't wanna fuck you, and then they're competition, and then what do you do? You take them down a peg. ❜

❛ You're so out of touch with your human side...you can't even listen to anything outside your own head. ❜
❛ You've got to be smart. You have to realize, you can't trust people. Not you. Not anyone. ❜
❛ I haven't seen you sleep in like...I mean, it's been a fucking long time. Like, horror movie long. ❜
❛ You are losing it, honey. ❜
❛ Or maybe I know what's actually happening here. Crazy as it sounds. If all this crazy bullshit is right, then maybe I know how to stop it. ❜
❛ Well, she's... she's quite dead. Isn't she? ❜
❛ Life is insane. It is madness. The sooner you understand that, the better off you'll be. ❜
❛ The world might not be safe but listen to me, and listen carefully. I won't let anything happen to you. ❜
❛ All these terrible things and I thought, that's when people come together. But we've never been further apart. ❜
❛ I expect he's the kind of man you call if you, I don't know, accidentally kill a prostitute and need to dismember the corpse. ❜
❛ I like to think he killed someone. I like to think he's eaten human flesh. I like to think he took a piss on the tip-top of the world. ❜
❛ Tell me it's worth it. Tell me you know the risk and I'll be there with you. I'll back you up. Just tell me. ❜
❛ Shut your mouth, get your shit together. The fuck is wrong with you? ❜
❛ Men, when they think they're immortal, all they want to do is fuck. When they figure out they're going to die, all they want to do is fuck. ❜
❛ It just makes you think, you know, life is so fucking short. ❜
❛ You don't have to be a tyrant, but if you don't want to be consistently cruel, then you have to be sufficiently brutal at least once to establish authority. ❜
❛ Why the fuck would you do that? I'm sorry. Why the fuck would you do that, sweetheart? ❜
❛ You smell like shit and you look like shit, and you're acting weird. ❜
❛ If anybody spoke to me like this, there would be repercussions! You do not get a free pass! ❜
❛ I'm afraid you're ringside for my reckoning, old friend. ❜
❛ I thought it was an act. I figured you just played the housewife so you could keep a roof over your head. Spread your legs or suck his dick twice a week and you're set. You never have to work a day in your life. And I thought, "Good for her, she found her angle," but...this is really you. Isn't it? ❜
❛ I thought you only existed in the movies. ❜
❛ Words got us into this, words can get us out. ❜
❛ You're a collection of impeccable, elaborate masks in orbit of a stunted heart. ❜
❛ There are certain things one shouldn't have to face in life. Time enough for self-reflection after. ❜
❛ You're a monster, you know that? ❜
❛ I don't normally like to get my hands this dirty, but honey, you earned it. ❜
❛ You only ever wanted to be loved by him. You only ever wanted his approval. And it's still no fucking excuse. ❜
❛ I see you now. I look at you and I see... You. The poverty of you. ❜
❛ I don't know you. The man I know, the man that I love could never… But you're not him. Are you? ❜
❛ But I didn't know! Did I? I didn't know who I was dealing with. ❜
❛ That candle will last you an hour or so, then, I'm afraid, you're in the dark. ❜
❛ I find most people have a threshold qualifier. Something or someone they'd be unwilling to sacrifice, no matter how sweet the deal. ❜
❛ The real world is Darwinian. Survival, chaos, power. Leverage. ❜
❛ You feel it. In the air. We're sitting outside of time and space. ❜
❛ This is the moment luck meets opportunity. ❜
❛ In the ancient world, we'd seal this with blood, or spit. And then later, papyrus. But, a deal's a deal all over the world. ❜
❛ We're a... virus, I think. People, I mean. ❜
❛ But everyone loves something. And in that love there's collateral. ❜
❛ I have no collateral. Collateral is leverage. And I won't be leveraged. ❜
❛ I say this with love. Let it go. Let it all go. ❜
❛ There is a lot about my job I love. But there are moments like these that bring me no joy. ❜
❛ So I say, we stand tall and proud. Bill's come due. Let's not hide here in the basement like we've got something to be ashamed of. No. Not us. You and me against the world. ❜
❛ It may not have been perfect, but you can't say we didn't change the world. How many people can say that at the end? ❜
❛ I knew I would climb to the top of the tower on a pile of corpses. ❜
❛ It don't matter in the end why you did any of it. I don't fucking care why you did it. We don't want your confession, or your rationale, or your explanation. ❜

this is all over the place but if you have more questions inbox is open +++ IGNORE MY CAMERA NOT FOCUSING

but like- you can’t see it on camera but i swear the lip balms are actually big like imagine a mozzarella stick almost 🙏🏽😭
Tumblr media
they were kinda hard to take out of the slots so i wouldn’t say keep them in there after every use if you wanna keep it ?
wild cherry 🤍
Tumblr media
smells like jolly ranchers ?? this is my fav out of the three, i truly love the scent- i really like this one my lips were instantly feeling so smooth after it 😭 — 9/10
frosted mint
Tumblr media
smells like mint chip icecream ?? the chapstick in the first pic was mint too and the comparison was CRAZYY ?? space camp smells way better, the mint leaves like that “jus ate mint icecream” type of tingles on your lips — 8/10
juicy watermelon
Tumblr media
the scent is more lighter than the others, but it smells like that red and green hubba bubba gum yk ? this one was tbh smoother than the rest but that could jus be i put the other two on before 😭 — 7/10
shipping - was fast (ordered wednesday, todays a saturday so wait time: three days) put keep in mind i do like in cali so 🤷🏽‍♀️
was it worth $40? tbh if you’re a consumer and a fan yes. personally i’m definitely not disappointed and love all three lipbalms- i think i spent my money good, would probably buy again just not in the near future . but $40 is kinda .. woah ? like if it was around $20 nick baby you would be getting so many more buyers 😭😭
so yes it is worth it, but only if you don’t think about how much you spent and actually enjoy the product- if you’re thinking of buying i say do it- i’m really happy overall :)

for the carraville prompts: jamie’s pov of your fic it’s just not what’s done, and him doing/saying increasingly gay things that fluster gary who thought he’d never have a chance with the straight boy
honestly I could write a full length fic of this I LOVE this idea but I am exercising restraint (read: i am too sleepy to keep writing but want to post it anyway) and cutting it off at 1.3k words. Jamie is so so annoying in this god bless xx
---
1996.
There’s a weird buzz in the air when Jamie arrives at Melwood in the morning, and not the usual frustration he’d expect the morning after the first team have lost a game. Everyone’s grouped in little huddles, hushed whispers that cut out when anyone else walks by, but the weirdest part by far is that everyone is holding a fucking newspaper.
He walks into the apprentice’s dressing room and snatches a paper out of one of the other lads’ hands. He turns straight to the back page, but there’s nothing particularly noteworthy there – United won the league, big fucking whoop – so he frowns and flips the paper back to the front page.
Jamie would normally dismiss anything The Sun prints as garbage, but a quick glance around the dressing room shows a few other papers scattered around, all with similar headlines. All with the same photo, printed to take up most of the page, full colour even on a weekday.
The Sun’s headline is not a particularly creative one, but is does get the point across quite succinctly: there, right above the grainy, dimly lit photograph, are the words GAY NEVILLE?
“Oh my fucking God,” he hears Michael whisper from behind him.
Gary Neville, right-back, Jamie’s brain helpfully supplies. Manchester United, 21 years old and already eight caps for England.
His next thought is: what a fucking idiot.
He doesn’t give a shit about the gay thing, not really – he did spend two years at boarding school, he knows what some of the boys got up to there. No, his issue is more that United have just won the league, and everyone knows in a few days they’ll be getting the double when they win the FA cup too. 21 years old, a starter for a team that’s about to make footballing history, a spot in the squad for this summer’s Euros, and the stupid prick’s just thrown it all away because he felt like getting off with someone at a club where anyone could see him.
Maybe he should ask his coaches about practicing in right-back. He has a funny feeling a spot’s about to open up on the England team.

2004.
“Not so brave now that yer boyfriend’s fucked off to Spain, are ye?”
Neville gives him a disinterested look from across the tunnel.
“Not my boyfriend,” he says flatly, rolling his eyes like he’s recited that line a thousand times before.
He probably has, actually. Jamie needs to come up with better insults, something more original. He’ll workshop some for next time.
Still, better to dig in on this one. “No, I s’pose he’s not now that he’s traded you in fer better things. Yer not exactly a Galactico.”
Neville’s expression is still blank but there’s a hint of fire behind his eyes, which tells Jamie that he’s on the right track, that if he pushes just a little bit more he’ll be able to tip him over the edge.
He sees Keane step out from his place at the front of the line, turn to Neville and mutter “d’you need me to –”
“Couldn’t give a fuck, he’s not worth worryin’ over,” Neville replies, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.
There’s no time to say anything back, because the referee walks to the front of the tunnel and then it’s time to go start the game.
*
2006.
“How’s it work, then?”
Neville looks up from the bowl of Weetabix he’d been intently focused on and glances around the room, like he doesn’t believe it’s him Jamie’s talking to.
He shrugs. “How’s what work?”
“The gay thing. Did yous get to bring a WAG over too, or is that only for the normal lads?”
“Wouldn’t be a WAG, would it?” Neville mutters snobbishly.
He’s right, Jamie supposes. But that’s obviously not something he can admit, so he decides to lean in to the ‘stupid Scouser’ bit. “Why not?”
Neville squints at him suspiciously. “’cause he wouldn’t be a wife or girlfriend, would he?” He clears his throat, looks back down at his bowl. “If he existed, that is. Only brought my dad over for this tournament, does that answer your question?”
“Hmm,” Jamie says, ignoring the obvious cue to leave and taking a seat opposite Neville instead. “What would they call ‘im, if you weren’t a sad lonely old spinster… husbands and boyfriends… HABs? Doesn’t ‘ave quite the same ring to it, does it?”
*
2013.
“Why’d you never get married?”
Neville – Gary – looks up from his iPad to give Jamie his familiar ‘I can’t tell if you’re having me on or if you’re actually just stupid’ squint. “’s only been legal a few months, give us a break.”
“Civil partnered then, whatever. I don’t get it. You’re rich, you were a footballer. I know you’re ugly but looks don’t really factor into it, if your brother’s marriage is anythin’ to go by.”
Gary scowls at him. “Different measures of attractive when you’re gay. I’ll ‘ave you know men find me quite good looking, actually.”
“Do they fuck,” Jamie snorts, because he’s willing to bet that there isn’t a single man on Earth, gay or otherwise, who finds Gary Neville in his current state attractive. Maybe in his playing days, when he was all lean muscle and intense glares, but not now. “They’re just queuin’ up to get a piece a’yous, are they?”
“Maybe they are. Not that it’s any of your business, but I actually ‘ave a date tonight.”
“And that’s after he’s had a look at you?”
*
2015.
“Don’t go.”
Gary looks exhausted, pale skin and dark shadows under his eyes. His hair needs a trim, his stubble needs a shave, and he needs to not move to fucking Spain.
“Don’t look so stroppy, Carra. You’re about to become Sky’s number one pundit.”
“Don’t want it. C’mon, Gaz, what’m I gonna do for my Monday mornin’ entertainment without tales of your endless bad dates.”
“Most people just read the news.”
“What’re you gonna do, you’re bad enough at pullin’ as it is without a language barrier makin’ things harder. It’s like you want to spend the next five months celibate.”
“Yer awfully concerned about my personal life, James, for someone who not two weeks ago was tellin’ me that I needed to, and I quote, ‘spend less time thinkin’ about fit men and more on thinkin’ about fit footballers instead.’”
“And I stand by that.”
*
2016.
Jamie’s changing out of his gym clothes when his conversation with Gary earlier in the week echoes in his mind, the dreamy way Gary had said his arms…
The guy probably doesn’t even train as much as Jamie does, probably just exaggerates because for some reason he’s trying to impress Gary. As if Gary is someone you’d want to impress.
He stands in front of the changing room’s mirror and flexes his bicep, notes with pride the bulging vein that leads up from his elbow. It’s a shame, really, that he has to wear suits when he’s on Sky. He’s sure viewing figures would go up if he was allowed to wear something a little more form fitting, maybe he should pitch it to the wardrobe people.
Gary would probably have a fit, his tends to get in a tizz at the suggestion of any change to the strict set of rules he’s got in his head. Jamie had once tried to wear his suit without a tie (because he’d spilled coffee on the one he’d brought, not that he’d told Gary that), and Gary had screeched at him for a good half an hour about professionalism until he relented and went to wardrobe to find a spare tie he could use.
Imagine if he wore a t-shirt. Gary’s head would probably explode.
All the more reason to do it, really.

In Justice We Trust (88252 words) by thesavagesabretooth
catch up here
With Simon Blackquill and Athena Cykes assigned as their psychologists, the Phantom and Fulbright must grapple with their identity, their deeds, their future, and their love for the twisted samurai whom they betrayed.
All the while, Edgeworth and Wright find their relationship tested as they walk the narrow path between pursuing real justice, and the dark age of the law.
-
December 25, 6:45 am
Miles had requested one of the hotel conference rooms so that he could bring Phoenix up to speed on the case– given the lack of time or appropriate space to do so any earlier. He'd sent Kay to go fetch some bagels and coffee for the meeting, and he flipped through the paperwork from his briefcase, adjusting his reading glasses.
There was a knock on the door, and the man behind it didn't wait for a 'come in' before he invited himself.
Phoenix Wright swaggered in, in his shirt sleeves and suspenders, with his signature blue coat tossed over one shoulder. His hair wasn't gelled back yet, hanging instead in untidy damp locks around his face and over his eyes.
He yawned, clicking the door closed behind him. "Morning, Edgeworth."
"Good morning, Wright." Miles looked up at him rather appreciatively, leaning on his hand and taking in the view. "I see my request caught you just out of the shower."
"Hey, you jump, I ask how high, eh?" Wright walked over and put his arms around Miles' shoulders, leaning over him from behind the chair.
Miles laughed and nuzzled his face against Phoenix's warm, freshly shaved cheek, the gentle scent of his aftershave and shampoo mingling. "You most emphatically do not do that, Phoenix. But you smell nice, so that's something."
"Well, as long as I've got something going for me, huh?" He smiled that big, stupid smile of his, and Miles grabbed his chin and pulled him into a rough, insistent kiss. It was the first one he'd managed to steal in days, and he was determined to enjoy it. Phoenix's tongue tasted of peppermint, and he made a soft noise as Miles bit and sucked at his lips.
When he finally released him, Phoenix took a deep breath, and batted his eyelashes. "Why, Mr. Edgeworth, how terribly scandalous!" he cooed in a falsetto.
Miles rolled his eyes. "Every time, Mr.Wright. And worth the potential scandal every time."
Phoenix leaned on him. "You spoil me, Miles."
"After the way you've behaved lately? I absolutely think I spoil you. You'd better be ready to really earn that badge I got back for you." He traced his fingers over Phoenix's jaw softly. He'd been hurt– terribly hurt– when Phoenix had said he wouldn't go to bat with him on this case, after everything Miles had done for him. But he could never stay angry at Phoenix long. It was that puppy dog look of his.
Phoenix leaned into Miles' touch and nodded, closing his eyes. "Consider me ready, Miles. But you already have the others here, what exactly is the plan?"
"For starters, I'm keeping you on a leash this time. You're going to help me investigate some of the more behind the scenes elements here."
"Oooh, investigating is my favorite part," Phoenix grinned.
"Don't think I don't know it," Miles chuckled. "Really, you would have made a better detective than a lawyer, Phoenix."
"And what about you, Miles? I'd say the same."
Miles adjusted his glasses, and smiled, bashfully. "Yes, well, we all have our roles to play, don't we? What use is playing detective if it's for a corrupt system?"
They'd talked about it before. About washing their hands of the whole thing and doing something like joining interpol, or opening a detective agency. But Miles couldn't bring himself to do it. He couldn't bring himself to give up trying to piece back together the broken shards of their legal system.
One day. One day he could retire and leave the politics behind, and just do the fun part. Maybe he could even get Phoenix to come with him.
"So you say, Miles," Phoenix murmured. He nuzzled him like a cat– and they both froze when there was another knock at the door.
The door swung open, and in walked Kay Faraday, her arms laden down with a few paper bags and a balanced tray of three coffees in cheap, but sizable, paper cups.
“Gotcha the coffee, boss! And bagels. Hope you like onion, it’s all they had le–” The young woman paused, before flashing a grin. “Knew you’d probably show up, Mr. Phoenix. Got you a coffee too!”
Miles flushed, and pulled away from Phoenix, who did the same, straightening his tie. Kay knew about him and Wright of course, but that was no excuse for such unprofessional behavior.
Miles cleared his throat and smoothed his hair. "Ah, yes, thank you, Kay. I appreciate the effort. We're just about to go over the facts of the case."
Phoenix grinned, tugging at his cuffs. "Hey, Kay. Been a while."
“Been a long time, Phoenix. How’s the office? Still run in the tyrannical grip of your daughter?” Kay asked with a snicker as she dropped the bags on the table along with the coffee.
She’d changed over the years…even if she was still ever the playful thief, she’d still grown up in a lot of ways. She had her hair in a loose bun today, pinned down with a pair of ornate sticks..
“I didn’t miss the brief?”
"Not at all," Miles said, spreading his hands. "It was just… smalltalk. Have a seat."
"The smallest," Phoenix chuckled. He pulled out a chair for Kay on Miles' right side before sitting down at his left.
Kay Faraday took a seat, leaning onto her hands as some of her dark hair fell across her eye “Guess it’s time to get down to business, eh? So you can have some more time for smalltalk later~..”
December 25, 7:00 am
Miles coughed as Kay teased him.. "Yes, ah, anyway… the best place to start is with the dead agents."
She watched as he pulled a folder out of his briefcase.
Kay Faraday glanced at the folder with a low sigh. She’d gotten long used to bodies, they’d always seemed to crop up wherever she and Miles had gone together. They never got any easier to deal with, or any less sad to see…but she was used to them.
“Got any names for us, boss? Or is Lang keeping them hush?”
"That'd be pretty inconvenient if so," Phoenix mused, leaning on his hand.
"Hardly," Miles rolled his eyes and presented to glossy photos– one of a tan skinned man with glossy ringlets of black hair, the other blond, blue eyed and clean cut. "Agent Angelo St. John, and Agent Layton Fish. They were the closest agents here in Cauli when Lang sent word to watch the airport."
“Bad luck. Guys are sleeping with the fishes and running with the angels at the same time. One bad job, ” Kay murmured. She leaned over to look at the pictures thoughtfully. “what’s the scene look like?”
"Not good." Miles set his jaw and showed another picture. Two vehicles, both burned and twisted almost to unrecognizability.
Phoenix whistled. "I'll say. Did they find any bodies?"
"Two. Interpol has their forensics working on dental records. I'm planning to have Ema lend us her expertise at the scene."
"So we don't even know if these are our guys," Phoenix said.
"Not one hundred percent, no. But Agent Kelso has confirmed that one of the vehicles matches– well, matched– the car that the agents left in."
Kay’s eyes lingered on the damage from the fire. “So it’s pretty likely, unless someone’s playing one heck of a trick on us. “
Phoenix weaved his fingers together. "We've seen some pretty good tricks. But there's always evidence."
"There's always evidence," Miles agreed. "I'm sending most of our people to the scene to look in person today, while some of us take a different tactic. I'd like to do some investigating at the airport itself and see if we can get anything from the security people."
Kay nodded seriously, leaning on her hands with a grin. “Might turn up something. Might turn up more if you let me slip in there and dig around their security files.”
"Kay, don't even suggest anything illegal to me today," Miles said firmly. "We're here by the grace of interpol. We do things by the book– that goes double for you, Phoenix."
He held his hands up and grinned. "What, me? Do something unethical? Never."
“And who from Interpol’s here?” Kay puffed out her cheeks. “I mean…Agent Lang always let me do my thing. And it’s not like either of his subordinates are gonna give me crap for unconventional tactics.”
Miles crossed his arms. "if you clear it with Lang you can do whatever you want, Kay. If you clear it with Lang. His favorite agents are with him too, if you'd like to give wheedling them a shot. Meanwhile, Phoenix and I are also going to be following up on our main target."
“Ooof.” Kay grimaced. “I mean, Badd’s a pushover when it comes to me, but…” the other one…she had some complicated history with. Besides, she’d probably just laugh the request off.
“Yessir. “ She sighed, and grabbed a bagel “sounds like you got a day chock full of adventure.”
"Adventure is one way to put it," Miles murmured. He pulled out another picture. It was a wide shot of the airport's baggage claim, the same one they'd been in last night. "This is the picture that Agent Kelso sent back before the disappearance of her fellow agents. It was just enough to make a positive ID."
"A positive ID, huh?" Phoenix rubbed his chin, and squinted at the picture. There was a pair of figures circled in red marker. A blond, bespectacled older man meeting with a slim, dark haired figure in large sunglasses. The older man's face was turned toward the camera, and his features were visible.
“So that’s the guy, huh?” Kay whistled low under her breath “...and the person in the shades, that’s the one Kelso had been tailing?”
Miles nodded. "The one in the shades is the one Kelso followed from LA to Cauli, yes. The bomber at Fulbright's apartment. And the other– the blond– we think that's the one that the Phantom referred to as 'specs' during questioning."
"Specs, huh?" Phoenix asked. "You said you got a positive ID from this picture?"
"Interpol ran the data for hours," Miles nodded. "It came up with a man named Gaius Lovelace. Dual British and Zheng-Fa citizenship. He runs a consultancy business and manages a hedge fund."
“Bet he’s hedging his bets that we aren’t going to find him and kick his ass six ways from Sunday.” Kay grumbled, before quickly adding. “with the law, I mean!”
"With the law," Miles agreed. "We're going to see if we can pick up his trail here in Cauli somehow, while Interpol is investigating his residence in England."
"Sounds like a hell of a case, Edgeworth," Phoenix said with a little smile.
Edgeworth smirked back. "I knew I could get you interested, Wright."
Kay stretched as she stuffed her bagel into her mouth. A moment later, she dared to ask the question. “So what should I do, boss? Given it’s date night for you two.”
The noise Edgeworth made was hilarious.
December 25, 7:30 am
Halblicht caught his breath as he watched Apollo's receding figure leave the cafeteria. Everyone was staring at them. The staff were staring at them.
That was a disaster.
Simon's hands were on his shoulders, and he looked up to see the prosecutor's gaze following Apollo as well. And Athena was still interposed between himself, and the world.
It could have gone worse, I suppose.
"Still with us, Half Bright?" Simon demanded, glancing down at him.
"For the moment." He fixed his sunglasses. "Ms. Cykes, you didn't need to do that."
“No, Robert.” Athena’s voice carried a tremor that was hard to identify the root of, but she stayed standing between him and the retreating Apollo.
“I did. You’re my patient. I promised to help you, right? Part of that’s not letting my friend beat you to a pulp because he’s lost control of his emotions.” her voice dropped into a quiet murmur “...it wouldn’t be right.”
Bobby reached out, and put a hand on her shoulder. "Ms. Cykes, I accept your commitment as a staunch fellow ally of justice– but he could have hurt you."
Their eyes watered and Robert almost staggered under the weight of Bobby's wave of concern and gratitude.
When Athena turned towards him, there were tears in her eyes and a smile on her face that didn’t quite reach them.
“He already did, Bobby. Didn’t even have to land a punch.” She shook her head, and her shoulder shook under his hand “...it was a risk I was ready to take. I’m stronger than I look, I could have taken it. I didn’t want him to hurt you anymore…or to hurt himself doing something he’d regret..”
They rubbed their chest. It ached. Apollo had hit them right in the same place that the bullet had.
"I appreciate it, Athena, but…"
Simon scoffed. "What's done is done. Athena threw herself into harm's way for, perhaps no good reason. But who among us can say we've never done the same."
"I suppose," Bobby murmured.
Is he including us in that?
I have no idea.
They glanced across the table. Investigator Skye had been there when this began– was she still?
Ema had shot up in the confusion, and was halfway across the cafeteria as Apollo vanished. The last sounds of her calling out to him died in a low growl as she ran her hands through her hair.
“Great, fan fucking tastic. Great. Awesome.”
Simon frowned deeply, as he followed Halblicht's gaze."Well. I suppose we have the table to ourselves now. And Mr. Justice is aware of the situation. So whatever else may be the case– mission accomplished."
“Yeah..” Athena’s voice was hollow as she pressed her hand to her face. “Mission accomplished.”
“...” Ema tugged at her hair just a little bit ahead, hissing under her breath. Eventually she stormed off to a table, where she grabbed a bag of complimentary chips “I’m getting ready for the damned investigation.”
"I guess we all should…" Bobby sighed heavily and finally seated himself as well– noticing that only now did Simon take his hands off him. The prosecutor didn't acknowledge it, merely sitting down next to him. "I'm sorry about the scene…"
It was inevitable, really.
Maybe, but I'm still sorry. I hope Mr. Justice can… calm down, at least.Ema vanished out the door, and Athena dropped into a chair.
“...it’s my fault," Athena sighed,"I should have explained it better…or just bitten the bullet and dealt with Miles being angry with me and told him sooner.”
Robert pushed their glasses up. "Frankly, Ms. Athena, we probably should have gone to Mr. Edgeworth and let him handle it. but what's done is done."
“What’s done is done,” she echoed, looking at the door. “But I think I’m out an investigation partner for the day.”
"Well, it's irregular," Simon said, leaning on one hand and starting to pick at his breakfast again. "But this is an irregular situation. Why don't you just investigate with us?"
Athena looked up at them with a blink “...the defense and the prosecution working together, huh? Not a bad idea…”
Bobby smiles. "You two do make quite the impressive team. And anyway, we don't even know who you'll be representing yet, Ms. Athena. I'm sure there's no harm in it."
“That’s true.” Athena finally smiled again, rubbing the back of her neck. “no harm at all…and anyway, the prosecution needs to start learning to share anyway.”
"True enough," Simon agreed with a smirk. "Much as I enjoy mysterious ways, now that the dark age of the law has started to crack, things might change."
Bobby stood to get himself some coffee. It already felt like things were changing.
Charging in had definitely been the right thing to do.
"Where are you going, Half Bright?"
They stopped frozen and turned toward Simon.
We should probably have asked permission…
"Ah, just to get some coffee, sir."
They waited for the rebuke.
"Good, get me another cup."
Bobby wasn't the only one who felt a small sting of relief.
December 25, 7:30 am
Trucy and Pearl had slept in a bit compared to everyone else. Trucy had woken up to a message on her phone from her Daddy to go and have breakfast without him, because he was in a meeting with Mr. Edgeworth.
“Looks like we’ve gotta go it alone this morning, Pearl.” she’d said as she tied her hair into its usual low ponytail. “Daddy’s busy with Mr. Edgeworth, so we’re gonna have to scrounge for ourselves.”
Pearl had put her own hair back up in it's complicated coiffure the night before after it had dried, and she was sitting on the end of the bed, kicking her feet, and watching as Trucy finished getting ready.
"You say scrounge as if there isn't a whole hotel restaurant, Trucy," she giggled.
Trucy fluffed her hair, letting the cluster of locks fall down to frame her face in a curl on one side, before she turned with a sweep of her cape as she fastened it over her shoulders.
“A whole hotel restaurant for us to scrounge and forage in…only us, our wits, and daddy’s hotel tab between us and a good balanced breakfast.”
Pearl giggled and hopped up to her feet. "I think it might actually be Mr. Miles' hotel tab in this case. Or maybe even Klavier's!"
“You know what that means, Pearl.” Trucy offered her hand with a grin “...we don’t have to worry about going ham. Daddy’s broke, but Mr. Edgeworth is loaded.”
Pearl giggled and took her hand. "Let's go ham then! Or at least get ham. I don't want to be stuffed to the gills when we go meet Klavier, after all!"
She giggled and tugged her toward the door.
Trucy followed her with a laugh. “That's true, that’s true. Alright, we’ll make sure to at least get ham and maybe something sweet on the go, and then get going to see Klavier. I’d like to be able to dance, at the very least.”
"Dance huh?" Pearl asked as they hurried down the hall. "You think he'll invite us to?"
Trucy squeezed her hand. “I mean he’s a musician, I think he’d be offended if we didn’t wanna!”
"Truuue, but I didn't know if he was gonna do anything actually musical in this commercial," she mused. She paused waiting for the elevator. "You said it was for a brand of soft drink, right?"
“You…” Trucy rubbed her chin. “you think he’d agree to do it if he wasn’t gonna get to rock out? What? Is he gonna prosecute someone in it?”
Pearl stepped into the elevator. She mirrored Trucy's gesture, rubbing her own chin. "Well I mean I kind of just thought he was going to open a soft drink 80 different times in 80 different takes and go 'ahhh, so refreshing!' or something."
Trucy stuck out her tongue. "Blehhh… First of all, he’d get a stomachache. Second of all, that’d be lame. There’s no pizzazz in that. Where’s the magic? Where’s the light and sound? Nobody’s gonna wanna drink their stupid soda if it’s just a guy opening it, looking sick because it’s his hundredth soda and going ‘yum, it’s good, buy it, dummy’, you know?”
Pearl rubbed her neck as the elevator descended. "Um, I super agree with you Trucy, but I'm not sure that's how commercials work. I'm also not sure why I know more about commercials than you…"
Trucy flushed a brilliant red, huffing. “I…I…every commercial I’ve ever been in’s been exciting! That’s all! Geeze!”
The elevator stopped at the first floor.
"Have you been in a bunch?"
“I’ve been in one.” Trucy waved her hand back and forth in the air, still holding Pearl’s. “It was for the Wright Anything Agency!”
"Ooooooh. Well, then it's no surprise it was exciting!"
The door opened and she tugged Trucy out and toward the dining hall.
Trucy followed close behind, grinning as she went .
“We didn't have food, either, but if we did I wouldn’t have wanted to waste it, you know? So obviously someone’s gotta drink the sodas that Klavier doesn’t….maybe he actually gives them to the crew so he doesn’t get sick? I dunno.”
"Ooooh, maybe. That'd be nice, right?" She pushed the door to the dining room open. "After you!"
Trucy dipped into a curtsy with a grin.
“why thank you, Pearl.” she winked “you know how to make a girl feel special…” With that and tip of her hat, she slipped into the dining hall.
Slipping into the dining room, Trucy realized there was almost nobody in there. A couple of people off to one side Trucy didn't recognize, and Athena sitting with Simon Blackquill and some other guy.
And that was basically it. No Kay, no Gumshoe. No Apollo.
“Uh…..” Trucy stopped short with a raise of her eyebrow under the brim of her hat. “...where the heck is everyone? Polly shoulda been here by now. He never misses breakfast.”
Pearl rubbed her neck. "More breakfast for us I guess? Maybe he already ate and got going?"
Trucy watched her look around the dining hall, and her gaze come to rest on the mystery man sitting with Athena and Simon.
She leaned on Pearl’s shoulder, staring along with her with a puzzled tilt of her head. “Who's that guy?”
Pearl chewed on her thumb, and looked distracted. "Gosh, um… that's a good question..."
“He kinda looks familiar…like I saw him somewhere recently.” Trucy mused with her chin against Pearl’s shoulder. “..what’s up, Pearl? Do you recognize him?”
"Um…." Pearl chewed on her thumb again. "Why don't we get some breakfast."
Trucy glanced between Pearl’s expression and the mystery man tugging at the edge of her memory.
“...Yeah uh.” She eased Pearl towards the breakfast buffet tables, “let’s maybe do that and we’ll sort it out together.”
December 25, 7:45 am
As they were finishing up with breakfast, Athena noticed Trucy and Pearl pause in the doorway, before they headed over to the buffet area.
“Hmmm,” Athena’s brow knit as she nibbled down a piece of bacon. “Why…are Trucy and Pearl here?”
Simon looked up. "I'm sorry, what?"
Athena pointed to them at the buffet table with her slice of bacon. “...Trucy and Pearl. They’re over there. They were staring right at us for like….3 minutes before they wandered over there. Why…why are they here in Cauli?”
Halblicht looked over his shoulder curiously as well. "Trucy Wright, yes? And the other girl… wasn't she involved in the orca case?"
“Yeah, that’s right! She was the penguin whisperer…because she fell down in a bunch of fish.” She laughed into her hand. “She’s a spirit medium from Kurain , I’m pretty sure. She’s really great.”
"A… spirit medium?" Halblicht's expression was unreadable, but Athena felt a brief flicker of odd, twisted emotions from him anyway. "How unusual."
“Yeah…her cousin was part of that whole case back in the day that proved the existence of ghosts, you know.” Athena mused , leaning on her hand. “She was possessed by the vengeful spirit of a multiple murderer..”
The restaurant’s door slammed open, carrying with it a cheerful, if very sleepy sounding, salutation.
“G’morning, fellas!” Agent Kelso called out, as she adjusted her sunglasses in her hair. “Can the Edgeworth party come with me?”

* ☔ : sentence starters inspired by lyrics and aesthetics from the third full album CHILL KILL by red velvet. ( adjust pronouns, etc. as needed. )
what brings you here all of a sudden?
glory to the incomplete.
could anything scare me?
you're so easy to make mine.
but i want to see you again.
i don't care if it hurts.
don't think about tomorrow.
forget about your sorrow.
what a chill kill.
this night is harsh.
you tamed me badly.
for you, there was only me.
was i worth it, baby?
look how i'm changed.
could i hold you once again?
i won't cry because of you.
all i need is your warmth until the end.
knock knock. open up the door.
it's so bittersweet, but i like the chase.
got a devil on my shoulder.
who's there?
leave a mark.
i'll drive you deeper.
close your eyes.
you want it more.
you can't escape my game.
you're trapped in my dream.
all i need is for you to stay.
and forever, you will sway.
they can't love you like i love you.
it's something that never existed from the start.
you can open your eyes now.
i only allow you here.
you can take your time.
it's all you.
i can't wait, babe.
what's it gonna be?
you should show me.
you're so deep in me.
you're ingrained in me.
who can love you like i love you?
the feelings i awakened, all of that is true.
i want you, no one else.
just come lay your body on me.
you can leave everything to me when you reach your limit.
you want me endlessly.
i'll dig into your heart.
you were my dream.
will i ever see you again?
nothing lasts forever.
our story is not over.
call us back.
if it's a dream, don't wake up.
remember us now.
what used to shine is gone.
the cold of the dark is like a veil.
even your hands feel cold.
cover your eyes.
don't forget it's all a dream.
it's just a nightmare.
close your eyes, make a wish.
it'll be okay soon.
it's getting blurry again.
we'll be fine.
i'll find you wherever you are.
he's standing there as if he's possessed.
my empty heart is filled with ice.
take a mouthful.
all my nights get longer.
you make me feel all this fantasy.
even my breath is white.
addiction is sweeter.
got me up all night.
one kiss.
a secret between the two of us...
the closer i get, the more curious i get.
i tell you what i like. what i want, what i don't.
what are you waiting for?
show it to me
give me something hot.
there's only one chance.
i want you now.
your eyes keep shaking.
you're going to get caught.
you're going to miss your chance.
there's never a second chance.
baby, take it slow.
you won't forget my kiss.
i'll swallow you in the moment.
make eye contact.
be quiet.
you're in a lot of trouble.
you can't pull yourself together.
i'll protect your heart.
tonight, without anyone knowing...
get ready for my kiss.
gonna lose your head.
there are things that have been decided.
you better run.
better get out of my way.
i'm a bulldozer.
i'm your poet, i'm your pain.
i'll destroy everything i can see.
what can i break?
i've never been confused.
sorry you got in my way.
no matter what night brings, sunrise will come again.
sometimes i get bruised by the wind.
there's nothing to be afraid of.
spread your wings.
heaven is open to you.
even if something's wrong, i don't care.

“Aaahh-- Why the hell does it have to be this fricking cold?” This complaint was said to no one in particular, more so just grumbled aloud as he hurried a bit down the sidewalk. Minato was glad that he’d mostly taken care of the shopping he needed to wrap up for this year, thanks to the trip he’d made out today. However... Now that it had gotten late, he wanted nothing more than to finally get home, take a hot fucking shower, and worry with gifts more tomorrow.

HELLRAISER roleplay sentence starters of the 1987 film. feel free to edit according to scenario / pronouns. tw: violence, death, murder, horror, cheating, torture, usfw.
what's your pleasure?
it's yours. it always was.
it's gotta be one of these.
i'm going to freeze to death.
it was just a suggestion.
this is it. the old homestead.
it smells damp.
it's been empty for a while, hasn't it?
how long since you were here?
i wanted to sell it after the old lady died.
would you look at this?
this stuff means nothing to me.
i've never known him to kick cash out of bed.
he's probably behind bars some place.
you really want to move in here?
we can be happy.
so what's the argument?
where are you?
there's stuff in the kitchen you wouldn't believe.
what the hell is that?
i thought you were going to stay with us for a while.
i'd really like you to see this house.
i gotta find myself a job.
this is something i need to do.
come on and trust me a little, okay?
call me tomorrow.
are you all right back there?
let's take five, guys.
how's things in there?
you got any beer?
you wanna buy a bed?
okay, all right, i'll be nice.
get on with grand work and i'll get myself some coffee.
well, can i come in or not?
do you have a towel?
what shall we drink to?
are you going to let me kiss the bride?
forget him.
i'll do anything you want.
you know me and blood.
i'm going to faint.
you're not going to faint.
it's going to need stitches.
it was just an accident.
we'll sue his ass.
i won't be able to stand up.
so lie down.
we're celebrating ... something. so sit down!
does it still hurt?
who are you?
his blood on the floor. it brought me back.
just help me, will you?
what do you want me to do?
you can't leave me like this.
the blood brought me this far.
i thought i'd lost you.
she's so damn polite.
she's uptight and frigid.
i beg your pardon.
you must have been speaking to the wrong people.
i was dreaming.
not much fun, is it?
there's a first time for everything.
i feel like i've known you for years, you know.
it's what you brought me here for, isn't it?
let's get on with it.
you're not going to change your fucking mind, are you?
we don't need a bed, do we?
i've always preferred the floor.
did you lock this?
every drop of blood you spill puts more flesh on my bones.
come here, damn you, i want to touch you.
come to daddy.
i'm feeling sick.
is there anything i can get you?
i'll be down in a minute.
it's only a matter of time before they find i've slipped them.
put on some music, will you, babe?
poor [ name ], obedient as ever.
keep your voice down.
you don't want "babe" to hear.
you'll stay with me.
we belong to each other now. for better, for worse.
you're gonna have to wait.
where's the manager?
what are you doing?
you give those back!
get out! get out of here!
just came by to see what you're doing after work.
you're sure we're not going to be interrupted?
it's a long time since i've tasted anything.
you promised me an explanation.
i thought i'd gone to the limits. i hadn't.
i'm going to leave and you're going to help me, yes?
they'll never find us.
what's the matter with you, anyway?
there's nothing to be afraid of.
i just don't understand you.
you love her, so there must be something worth loving.
it's like she's ... waiting for something.
could you ... would you stop by sometime?
maybe all she needs is somebody to talk to.
so, where's the harm?
i get lonely sometimes.
what is this? a game?
get the fuck off me!
there's nothing to be afraid of.
this isn't happening.
some things have to be endured.
you want it? fucking have it!
wait a minute, how did i get here?
you were hanging on to it like grim death.
well, the police will want to speak to you.
in the meantime, maybe this will jog your memory.
you opened it. we came.
it's just a puzzle box!
it is a means to summon us.
who are you?
demons to some. angels to others.
it was a mistake!
i didn't mean to open it!
you can all go to hell!
please, go away and leave me alone.
oh, no tears, please. it's a waste of good suffering.
no time for argument.
nobody escapes us.
what has that to do with you?
i can lead you to him.
we'll tear your soul apart.
she'll tell them everything.
that's probably her now.
it doesn't make any difference.
we can't just stay here.
i don't know where to begin.
what are you talking about?
what's the matter?
where is he?!
i was so afraid that something happened to you.
he's trying to kill you.
believe me, it's finished with now.
what's gone mean?
he was insane, baby. a mad dog. had to put him out of his misery.
jesus, what a scene.
i don't really understand myself.
i don't believe this.
we want the man who did this.
there's no time.
so much for the cat and mouse shit.
it's nothing personal, baby.
don't mourn him. he was dead long before we ever touched him.
we have to hear it from your own lips.
this isn't for your eyes.
you set me up, bitch!
jesus wept.
not leaving us so soon, are you?
we have such sights to show you.
go to hell!
let's get the hell out of here!

baldur’s gate 3 starters.
the following is a collection of sentence starters from larian’s baldur’s gate 3.
we need to get out of here before it’s too late.
you! get me out of this damn thing!
we have no time for stragglers.
there’s no time - i need to get out of here.
i’ll go look around. there must be some way to get this thing open.
who are you?
what do you suggest?
a rune. but for what?
a brain in a jar …
i thought that damned thing was going to be my coffin.
you keep dangerous company.
dangerous company’s what you need in a fight.
did you feel that just now? we were in each other’s heads.
that cannot be our fate.
once inside, do as i say.
who put you in charge?
i’ll trust my own judgment.
you’re alive … i’m alive.
seems like we’re the lucky ones, judging by all the corpses strewn about.
do you have any idea where we are?
i don’t recognize this place. but anything is an improvement from where we just came from.
‘we’? you want to stay together?
i’d better get moving then. farewell.
we need each other, and we both know what’s at stake.
no. this is where we part ways.
i wanted to thank you again. for freeing me.
more of those wretched things.
you fight well. perhaps our survival isn’t such a distant prospect.
one day i’ll catch a break.
kill it yourself. you look capable enough.
i was hoping for a kind soul.
put that knife away and maybe we can talk.
i haven’t done anything to you. yet.
you arrogant little -
what was that? what’s going on?
and to think i was ready to decorate the ground with your innards.
you’d better have more to offer than ‘apologies’.
we can start by traveling together. better odds, i’d say.
do what you want. i’m leaving.
that thing’s bound to be dangerous, even if injured. best be careful.
what’s going on with that rune?
perhaps i should have clarified - a helping hand.
say, but i know you, don’t i?
you don’t happen to be a cleric by any chance, do you?
you’re welcome to join me.
worth checking for supplies, maybe.
you think it’s dangerous?
why should i help you?
enough gawking. get me down.
say ‘please’.
careful. she obviously sees your kindness as weakness.
a simple ‘thank you’ wouldn’t go amiss.
we’ll go our separate ways, i think.
i trust your judgement - but i won’t trust her.
i suppose the finer details are lost on a creature like you.
monster. death is too good for it.
i hear shouting up ahead.
we should check it out - but be careful.
breathe deep, and move.
not a collaboration i’d have anticipated, but a welcome one nonetheless.
i have violent thoughts. depraved thoughts. ones that refuse to go away.
i understand much beyond your comprehension.
you’d do well to observe more and question less.
words forged in steel. may your actions express the same mettle.
there’s no shame in a capricious murder now and again.
attack with purpose. savor your kills.
that might be worth a look.
no more prayers … only dust and silence.
who were those prayers for?
a dead tongue. whoever worshiped here must be long gone.
this place wasn’t built for the living.
forbidden knowledge - without a doubt.
let them come. the darkness can be to our advantage.
what is the worth of a single mortal’s life?
a life and how it is lived are different equations.
i’ll be keeping an eye on you, understand?
if i choose to kill you, you will not even see it.
mouthier than an arse, twice as full of shite.
you’re greasier than a worg-roast.
god forbid you risk your precious tail.
you almost seem honest.
care to explain why you reek of the hells?
another grave to be dug. we’re getting far too much practice at that.
that was close. far, far too close.
i’ll not gamble our lives, our futures, on those who are good as dead.
it’s the right thing to do, and you know it.
magic weighs heavier here, seeking solace in root and soil.
i question the wisdom of that decision, but so be it.
i can’t do it. i’m not like you.
i don’t need you to be like me.
come on. i believe in you. you can do this.
this whelp is hopeless. you’re wasting your time.
you’re on the right path, (name).
i’m no stranger to the infernal.
clever, this hero act you’ve got going.
i can’t do this anymore, (name). i’m so sorry.
let me through, (name), or i’ll rip your damn throat out.
i will imprison the devil, and i will cast out the rest.
my grace has its limits.
keep his name off your tongue.
it’s just an old wound that hurts from time to time. nothing to be concerned about.
it’s just something i have to live with.
it’s … a delicate matter. not something for light conversation.
how am i holding up in your estimations?
whatever he found there, he didn’t make it back.
wyvern poison - never tried it, and i hope to keep it that way.
there was so much blood. i … i can still smell it.
hardly a unique tale of woe these days. toughen up, or you won’t last.
is someone … singing?
take a breath, deep and slow. you’re safe now.
thank you. for helping me.
you nearly died, do you hear me?
my friends blood not enough? you’ve come to rip me open, too?
the last time a subordinate questioned my judgement, i ate tongue stew that very night.
i warned you, didn’t i?
subordinate? no - we’re partners.
you’ll treat me with respect.
if you’ve finished scowling at me, what comes next?
your tantrum proves you no wiser than a hatchling.
by covenant, i can say no more.
damn it. don’t … don’t look at me like that.
you can stay. just keep your hands to yourself, alright?
ha! you look ridiculous.
crate-guarding is a serious job.
the sooner this wears off, the better.
you’re not gonna shoot me. your hands are shaking.
you’re better than this.
shut up. those words could be your last.
this - this is wrong, isn’t it?
i didn’t ask for you to say a damn thing!
(name) would hate me for this. but he’s not here. they took him from me.
what would (name) think of you now?
what in every hell is wrong with you?
i just saved your life. show some gratitude.
looking forward to seeing what your innards look like.
still breathing - despite everything.
you look like you don’t know the meaning of the word ‘sleep’.
i’ve a mind to end their misery myself.
harsh. remind me to stay on your good side.
do you think your kin search for you, (name)?
it’s not every day one meets such a cavalier sinner as yourself.
what i have to say merits some privacy - as well as some … let’s call it ‘refinement’.
enjoy your supper. after all, it might just be your last.
i don’t care what you are - i care what you want.
you can’t die. please, stay with me.
by all means leave, if i am so distasteful.
i’d rather not turn my back on you, if it’s all the same.
(name), have you ever done a good deed just for the sake of it?
if not over - then through.
you should leave it. or even destroy it, if possible.
i didn’t think you’d react so pragmatically.
i’ve faced countless perils and conquered them all. this will be no different.
i’ve always had a soft spot for the confident ones … they always disappoint, though.
do you always need to be the center of attention?
you were so gentle. that’s … not how i was taught.
cruel words strengthen neither heads nor hearts, (name).
what, you got it open, just like that?
if we survive, it’ll make for a good story, i suppose.
i’ll never get the smell out of my clothes. i’ll have to burn them.
this place is a bloody death trap, not a sanctuary.
the waiting’s getting to me.
best to fill your belly now - while we still can.
i’m not hungry.
that scowl on your face would frighten a troll.
i am not grumpy.
i’m waiting on someone, and you aren’t him. do you mind?
why don’t we take a little break? allow ourselves a few moments of rest.
gives me a chance to talk to you about something, well, rather important.
whatever it is, do make it brief.
no rest for the likes of us.
i hope i can count on you.
that woman has more venom in her heart than a snake in its fangs.
forgiveness means nothing if she doesn’t learn from her mistakes.
sounds like you have something to confess.
well, look whose come to visit.
they’re survivors, not soldiers.

Amigo the Devil: Volume 1 Starters
sentences taken from the 2015 album. edit as desired. warning: this one does NOT pass the Hayes Code lmao. content includes, but is not limited to: sex, violence (both domestic and otherwise), alcohol, strong language, religion, general moral degeneracy, et cetera
It's all for you.
I'd rot in hell with you, if you'd just ask me to.
Come on, believe me, follow me home, there's no judgement here.
Take the shot.
This night is going to end horribly for someone.
I'm not so much afraid of letting go as much as scared of giving up.
Open up to me.
The Devil came and sold his fucking soul to me!
If I've hurt you, please forgive me. Love makes you do funny things.
This fire feels so real.
Don't say a word, my darling. I know how you feel.
On rainy days, we'll drink until the gray is left in nothing but our hair.
I know you want it, too.
I'll lay by your side 'til everything is rotten through.
Tonight, we'll celebrate life! Eat the best food and drink the best wine.
I hope your husband dies.
Are you feeling upside down or even empty inside?
Meet me down by the bar. We'll go and take this drink out to the stars.
Death is just one moment.
Some people follow rules, some people go around.
As an elephant, I'm only really relevant when I'm standing in the room.
I am the son of an asshole.
No one deserves my world quite like you do.
I'm not so much afraid of being alone, just kind of feel I've had enough.
God knows I'll do what I need.
These hands are stronger than you're led to believe.
We'll never have a house to decorate, a place that we can call our home.
If I can't have you, nobody will.
There's only one thing in this life that makes us living.
I want to be where all the stupid shit I say sounds so romantic and true.
Live with me in this sin forever.
There's nothing left to lose, 'cuz I've already lost it all.
Tonight, I'll follow you home and start up a fire that'll keep us both warm.
Hang around, let down your hair.
So you should start to undress and just… try a little less.
Now you're with this asshole- you expect me to believe it's gonna last?
Let me have this dance with you.
Your eyes look like diamonds still stuck inside the mines.
When your tongue is putrid and your skin is sagging down, I'll stick around.
It's true, I hate everything but you.
We'll laugh a little, drink a little, see what you're made of.
All the bridges in the world won't lead you back to fix what couldn't be erased.
This fairytale just ain't coming true.
I'll drive my car like I stole it, drink at the bar like I own it.
These wrinkles are the maps of all the places we went no one else would dare.
I'd rather have a reason I should stay.
There's always gonna be a better high, and a lower down.
We take things a little far, but you couldn't name a place I wouldn't go with you.
I'm capable of making you disappear.
I have a couple different faces if you need a place to hide.
The time we spent together when the light was out became my thought of you.
I am the agent that decides your fate.
There's only one kind of people in the world: people who die!
It doesn't matter what you've heard or if you're good or bad and everything between.
I love the shitty things we do together.
It's been a while since I've held anything as close as I have you.
I'd like to live my life just like a dog. Humble as can be and unconditional in everything I love.
I'll make you famous one way or another.
Home is the last place that I'd stand to be with anyone but you.
I'd crawl in bed with you. Even in someone else's blood, on top of someone else's love, in the worst motel we find.
This life is a maze with only one way out.
Every dime spent is worth looking good- and that's Hollywood!
They'll write about our story here for years to come and maybe even more, cuz there's never been a love like this before.
I'll cut to the chase, just don't try to leave.
Trust me, I'm not jealous, I'm just hoping that he really messes up.
When I had you near me I just couldn't think of anything to say, but now that I'm alone, I got the perfect things to tell you everyday.
We'll leave the world the way dreamers do.
All the parties we can throw - we'll dress like anything we please!
All the distance that we've spent apart will never have to mean a thing. Every mile I traveled was to find the perfect stone to fit your ring.
Living in the moment's hard when everything I want is in the past.
When the night falls, out comes the terror.
Your heart will always have a place to live with nothing left to be.

WILL YOU CRY?
"Will you cry if I let go?"
"How'd we get stuck?"
"Now, I'm what you're bored of."
"Would it not kill you to say goodbye?"
"It's kinda funny when it goes from all to nothing."
