hey hatchet!! hope youre doing okay, could i request some angsty romantic headcanons between ticci toby and a gn!reader? maybe like if they argue about toby's behavior and whatnot
hey there darling! i’m actually doing great, and i hope you are too! i absolutely love the sound of this request, so here we fucking go (disclaimer i am not an expert on his MULTITUDE of conditions, which practically make up his whole person atp)
arguments about Toby’s behavior are not uncommon.
Toby was born with multiple diseases and disorders; though he doesn’t know his own past, you figure that if his parents did even a little less for him, he would be way worse off than he is now. in fact, you’re pretty sure this is as good as it could get.
but oh, there are so many things you simply do not love about this man.
his CIPA (congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis) prevents him from feeling pain, and as such he has not felt pain since he was born. as such, completely lacking the concept of pain and never remembering that others are susceptible to it, he is often a little too rough with you, not just in bed. sometimes, he grabs you just a little too hard, and it gets to you.
you know he is as dense as he seems, but just in case, you hope hard that he never realizes you’re slowly becoming distant from him. you simply can’t do it, not with his roughness and lack of reverence on your body.
and oh, this is just scratching the surface of his behavioral issues.
Toby is also diagnosed with BPD (borderline personality disorder). this is what you consider to be the worst part of his behavioral issues.
you had the misfortune of ending up as his favorite person (though in his defense there are not many others around him so his poor mentally ill brain pretty much has no choice).
you talk to the cashier at 7-11 for a millisecond too long? suddenly as you walk out, Toby is gone from where he was waiting for you and when you look back, the cashier’s gone too. but you know somewhere behind the store, the poor cashier’s blood is being spilled.
and even if you need just a small something from his fellow proxies, they’re not immune either.
though, you have to say, you prefer asking a random person instead.
because even though tim and brian may be punished by Toby, you feel like you are the one being punished the hardest.
he’ll give you the cold shoulder and guilt trip you and manipulate you.
it’s to the point you don’t think you know what a normal relationship feels like anymore. are boyfriends supposed to be loving? or are they supposed to scowl at you, go silent and cold the moment they notice you talking to someone else, even if it’s absolutely necessary?
and so you do the only thing you can do to rebel: argue.
you first start out gently, chiding him when he does something he’s not supposed to do. you correct him and explain to him why it’s wrong.
but you’re not sure if it goes through to him at all. you genuinely cannot tell, between his desperate apologies right after and the blatant repetition of his behavior.
for a while, it’d just been the apologies and repetition. though you disliked it, you soon came to realize that it was better than apologies, repetition and THEN arguments, guilt tripping and manipulation.
“why can’t you just love me for who i am? do you not love me after all? i was right all along. you’re desperate to get rid of me.”
and the truth is, you are.

It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This
Ch1 The Adventures Of Cedar Addams
“I’m afraid it’s not great news Mrs Addams, even with the simulated sperm we formulated from your wife’s DNA you will not be able to have a baby of your own.”
Enid dropped her head low and started to shake, a sure fire indication the worst kind of tears were about to make themselves known - tears of despair.
Wednesday pulled her wife closely and hugged her, the same type of desperate hug they had shared that first night in the woods, broken and blood stained with their classmates watching. This time it wasn’t a hug of relief, an embrace of a victory won and a heart given in service, this was lamenting a future they wanted but now could never have. Not even one of Grandmama Addams’ most elaborate potions could save this heartbreaking situation.
Wednesday couldn’t have kids after the stab wound from Crackstone they found had damaged her womb, and Enid, they subsequently learnt during the following conversation with the doctor, had a congenital disease which meant her reproductive system just didn’t work how it should do.
Wednesday didn’t think the tears would ever stop, and even joined in as they sat in their car outside after the consultation, repeating the embrace in a vain attempt to recover the bubbly positivity she once endured from Enid Sinclair, but now depended on with Enid Addams to keep her sane.
All was lost. All their hopes and dreams to have their own family, their own Wolfpack.
The drive home back to their mountain lodge - more of a sprawling luxury estate - was done in silence, with just a brief stop for Enid’s favourite Taco-Bell which failed to lift Enid’s mood, which in turn darkened Wednesday’s mind even further.
She just didn’t know what to do for Enid.
The drive back home along the five mile private gravel drive they had made thousands of times, so when the small creature leapt out of the rocky undergrowth into the path of their Range Rover Wednesday almost didn’t react in time.
Shuddering to a halt caused a huge cloud of dust to rise up, which took a few seconds to disperse.
“Did we hit it?” asked Enid shakily.
“I don’t think so querida - are you harmed?” Wednesday asked, holding Enid’s elbow tentatively.
“No I’m ok, thank you dearest.” Enid replied, still staring out if the windscreen to try and see the creature again.
“There it is Enid - to the right.”
Enid’s eyes followed Wednesday's pointed finger to the side of the road where they could see the creature trying to hide behind a rock, but it’s oddly hairy back legs were easily visible.
As usual Enid was the first Addams to react, her concern evident in her haste to get out of the car and approach the animal. Wednesday watched as her wife picked the creature up and held it for a few seconds before turning around and bringing it to the drivers door as Wednesday wound the window down.
Wednesday was always more careful as she didn’t have Enid’s razor sharp claws or incredible strength when it came to wild animals. Her wolf was always her protector.
“Willa look! The Moon gods have blessed us today!!”
Wednesday could see clearly what Enid was holding - a small, shaking, scared, half shifted female werewolf, who could not have been more than five or six years old
“But Enid, how has she shifted - sorry half shifted - it’s daylight?”
Enid beamed a large smile as she stroked the wolf’s head to keep it calm, which she seemed to do almost instantly. Enid had that effect on all forms of life - human, animal or anywhere in between.
“She is a daywolf, a very rare form of werewolf who can change at any time, but are generally very poorly treated and often cast out into the wild when young as most werewolf families can’t handle their unpredictable behaviour.”
“Oh no Enid - does that mean……”
“Yes,” Enid interrupted, “she’s a lone wolf, just like little old me.”
Fresh tears rolled down Enid’s cheeks, and the little daywolf reached out and pawed at Enid’s cheeks, it’s baby soft fur soaking up the moisture before Wednesday had a chance to wipe her wife’s tears herself.
She looked into Enid’s eyes, sparkling blue and bright as the sun, and knew right there that Enid was now a mum. And so in turn she was one too.
Her heart broke with happiness, not that it showed on her face. She had a reputation to keep after all.
“What shall we call her?” asked Wednesday.
Enid smiled an even broader grin as she stared back into her tiny wife’s obsidian black irises.
“I don’t care, it’s doesn’t matter to me.” Enid stroked the little girls hair to calm her, already lost in her love for the scared wolf in her arms.
“How about Cedar? She ran out from a cedar tree at the side of the road. Seems apt.”
“Mmmm that’s perfect Willa. Come on Cedar, time to go home.”
The little daywolf growled contentedly and licked Enid’s face quickly before she had chance to react, making Enid giggle like a schoolgirl.
As they pulled up to the front of their house Enid jumped out and rushed inside with Cedar, mumbling about a bath and some raw meat for the new arrival.
Wednesday paused as she turned around to survey the vast valley in which their house was situated, the front looking out over the whole impressive vista. She imagined the colourfully dressed figure of Mother Nature leading Cedar to find their land and then their home. It had only been a few minutes and Wednesday knew that this gift was truly direct from the earth spirit herself.
She whispered quietly into the wind, bowing her head in reverence of all that was around her.
“Thank you.”
She allowed a tear of joy to run down her cold cheek. then followed Enid inside, pushing the door shut on their home as happy squeals and laughs sounded from their bathroom. Clearly their daughter was receiving her first ever bath.
Wednesday didn't even try to stop the dimples from appearing on her cheeks as she smiled.
“What a truly dreadful day” she muttered as she found herself skipping towards the bathroom, like a lovesick idiot.
She wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hi, I was wondering, if your requests are open and this was ok with you. Can I ask for, what would it be like for Slasher characters Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Norman Bates, Chucky, Stu Macher, and Billy Loomis were dating female s/o that was like Esther from the movie Orphan. How would they feel about having a dwarf girlfriend that was a killer? What would the relationship be like? I hope I didn't overdo this request. If you're not interested in doing this delete this.😁✌🔪
So. Regarding the characters. Until recently, I didn't know who Norman Bates was, and I didn't plan to write about him. However, now I have watched the first movie, I plan to watch the rest and the Bates Motel series (as it turned out, an actor who I like plays there). I liked Norman and I plan to write about him not only this request, but also something else. However, I can't say that about Chucky. I am not interested in this character at the moment and therefore the part with him is missing here
Headcanons Orphan
🔪 Michael Myers x fem!Reader 🎃
You and Michael met at the sanitarium. He didn't think much of you at first. You were brought there when he was a teenager and he didn't pay attention to a girl younger than him. Other people didn't interest him much, and he rarely paid attention to them, including you, until one day he saw you with blood on your hands. You killed an orderly who often mocked you and you clearly did not regret what you had done
He overheard the doctors discussing you and was genuinely surprised when he found out that you were a couple of years older than Michael. Because of a congenital disease, you stopped growing and looked so young and you took advantage of it. It intrigued him and pretty soon you started noticing that he was looking at you. He saw that you did not give up trying to escape and used a variety of methods for this
You ran away a few months before him and he doubted that you would ever meet, but he was wrong. When he snuck into one of the houses and killed a married couple who lived there, he heard your voice. When he turned around, he saw you with discontent on your face. Even though you didn't know about it, he was pleased that you met again. You were deprived of a foster family in which you planned to stay longer, so you decided to go with Michael and, if possible, get as much benefit as possible. Next to him, you were sure that you were safe
It was difficult to characterize the relationship between you in any way. Both of you didn't have a proper understanding of romantic relationships, but you stayed close and protected each other. You were physically weaker than Michael, but no one expected you to attack them and you took advantage of it. You were the perfect murderous duo and you were both sure that it wasn't the only thing that could connect you
🪓 Jason Voorhees x fem!Reader 🏕
When Jason first saw you, he was surprised. He thought you were a kid who got lost and ended up in an abandoned camp, but your clothes were different from the usual ones. It was more like a hospital gown. He came closer while you were hiding in one of the cabins, and only then was he convinced that it really was a hospital shirt and saw that there was blood on you, although he doubted that you were injured. When he saw a crashed psychiatric clinic car and several dead orderlies in the woods, he realized what had happened to you
He came to you the same night and was surprised when you were not sleeping but sitting holding a scalpel in your hands. You were ready to defend yourself, even though Jason was much bigger. However, he didn't feel any negativity towards you. Jason raised his hands to show that he wasn't going to hurt you. Only after that did you calm down a little. He even treated you to dried meat and brought you clothes from the bag of one of the tourists he killed. It was only when you cleaned yourself up that you quietly thanked him and told him about your name, that you were supposed to be transferred to another psychiatric clinic, and also that you and Jason were the same age, but you looked younger and were much shorter due to a congenital disease
You stayed to live in one of the huts and Jason often came to you. He cared about you and he was sure his mom would approve of it. When there were new tourists who decided to relax by the lake, Jason saw how you killed several of them at night. One of them, a big guy, tried to grab you, but Jason wouldn't let him do it, killing him. You weren't afraid of killing, you were a murderer yourself, and as a sign of gratitude for your help, you kissed Jason on the cheek, which caused him to blush on his cheeks
Jason often stayed by your side. He would put you on his shoulder without any problems and carry you with him. You killed people together, even though you were motivated by different motives. There was a warm relationship between you. You took care of each other and helped each other. Apart from each other, you had no one and your life in the forest suited you both
👻 Billy Loomis x fem!Reader 📞
You and Billy knew each other because of his father. He was friends with a married couple who adopted you and at first he was sure that you were just an orphan girl with oddities. He was sure of it until your foster father was killed. Everyone claimed it was the same killer who was operating in their city, but Billy knew it wasn't him, because neither he nor Stu did it. That's when he started to get suspicious about you
His theory was confirmed when he snuck into the house where you and your foster mother stayed to live. He intended to just watch and maybe find out more about you, but he saw how you stabbed your foster mother. You grumbled obscenities and even cut yourself on purpose to deflect suspicion from yourself. Billy couldn't help but chuckle and you quickly turned to him. You understood that he saw everything and he understood that you were not who you seemed, so he set you a condition. He won't reveal your secret if you honestly tell him who you are
He listened to your story with genuine surprise. You turned out to be a couple of years older than him, and you spent several years of your life in a psychiatric clinic. Because of your congenital disease, you looked younger than your age and took advantage of it. Billy was intrigued by you. Looking at you, smeared in someone else's blood, who shamelessly deceived and killed, he realized that he could not let you go so easily. Especially considering that you also weren't going to let go of the person who found out your secret
His father temporarily took you under his care, and Billy, in front of others, played the role of a caring older brother who sincerely empathized with your loss. However, in fact, he let you get very close to him. You quickly guessed who exactly he was and now you had a common secret. You were both murderers and this secret seemed to bring you closer together
👻 Stu Macher x fem!Reader 🔫
You and Stu have known each other since your first day in town. You were adopted by a couple who were friends with his parents. He heard that they couldn't have their own children, so you became an important family member for them. Several times they came to their house for dinner and Stu tried to communicate with you many times. He was amused to watch you, a girl who behaved not like a child, but like an adult. It seemed funny to him. When your foster parents needed to leave town, they asked Stu's parents to look after you. However, he found out about it only at night, when he returned home covered in blood, confident that everyone was asleep
He climbed into his room through the window and planned to go to the bathroom, but in the hallway he bumped into you. You looked at him with absolute calm, as if there was blood on him. However, he caught sight of a scar. There was a scar on your neck, as if from some kind of belt, usually it was hidden by the collar of your dress, but now you, apparently, did not expect to run into someone. Before he could say anything, you grabbed his arm and dragged him into his room. Despite your calm expression, he noticed a mocking twinkle in your eyes
He expected to hear words of concern, but instead he heard discontent that if he really decided to play the killer, he should at least come home clean and not attract too much attention. Stu was surprised by this, and also by the fact that according to you, you had much more experience in this than he did. During your late-night conversation, he found out that everything he knew about you was a lie, your name, your age and your story. You were a few years older than him, you spent part of your life in a psychiatric clinic and you kill people. You didn't hide that you were planning to kill your foster parents, but now you had a more interesting task. You wanted to see if you could make a real serial killer out of Stu, since he's already started killing people
Stu didn't tell Billy about you, realizing that he could be against it or use you in his plan. When you and Stu were alone, you didn't hide your true identity and he liked you much more like that. He hoped that he could get to know you even better and when his and Billy's plan came to life, you could become a part of their company and his life
🔑 Norman Bates x fem!Reader 🔪
You met Norman when you and your foster mother arrived at the motel. You looked like a young girl in a dress with a high collar and long sleeves. Your mother checked you in and Norman had a little chat with her. She did not hide from him that you are her adopted daughter and that you plan to move to the nearest city after her husband disappeared. Norman was smiling at you in a friendly way, but your face remained calm. He assumed that the reason for this was an emotional shock. Your foster mother rented two rooms, one for herself and one for you
You were quiet and didn't cause any problems, unlike your mother. Norman's mother was angry and she didn't like her, so she got rid of her. When Norman regained consciousness, he hurried to hide the traces of blood and figure out how to explain to you that your mother had abandoned you, as he heard your calm voice. You told him that you were grateful that he helped you. Turning around, he saw you, with a slight smile on his lips. You went up to him and kissed him on the cheek as a sign of gratitude and calmly began to help him get rid of you by your foster mother, as if her death had absolutely no meaning for you
When he asked you how you could stay so calm, you told him that you originally planned to kill her, just like you killed her husband, and a large number of people before them. You told him that you were about the same age as him, that you looked so young because of your illness and that you spent a long time in a bad place where they hurt you, claiming that they wanted to cure you. He understood what place you were talking about. He was surprised that you were the same age as him, but looking at you, looking at you and knowing that you were being harmed, he wanted to protect you. He suggested that you stay at the motel at least for a while, mentally deciding to try to convince his mother to let you stay with them as long as possible
Despite the fact that you looked quite young, you really were an adult woman. Pretty quickly, for the rare visitors to the motel, you were his little sister, a sweet girl who helped him look after the motel and your sick mother. However, in fact, you were much closer to him. You were the only woman his mother was willing to accept and who was willing to accept him and his mother. Maybe you've finally found the family that really would finally be yours

Lighter | Elinor Walker
CW: it's just a sad character backstory with some violence closer to end
The girl with red curls looked at her mother in fear. I watched as she dropped to her knees and tried to contain her own fear, hugging her daughter to her. The woman called her father's name several times so that he would look at them just once and immediately leave the room. Elinor heard him swearing as he searched for his phone while her mother calmed both him and her. And she tried to calm herself down too. However, the girl did not feel anything. For her, this is an ordinary day, like any other. They gave her a bike, and she immediately rode it down the slope. Eli remembers the moment of the collision so clearly. Blurred vision, some discomfort in the hand and blood flowing to the fingers. Hot, it cooled down very quickly, causing unpleasant goosebumps to crawl across the skin. But the most unpleasant thing is how the parents argue at such moments. Like it's her fault. You wouldn't even call her clumsy.
Elinor has suffered from congenital analgesia since childhood. Her brain is unable to receive pain signals. She feels only slight discomfort, constraining her movements. Father's genetics played a cruel joke. His sister and great-grandfather had this disease. Maybe that's why he's so strict with his daughter?
Despite her illness, Eli grew up to be no ordinary child. Yes, in addition to constant health problems, the girl constantly brought a lot of problems with her difficult character. Stubborn and persistent. Eli was unable to make long-term friends. In rare moments of reconciliation with other children, sparks of hope flashed in the eyes of the family, disappearing after the next call from the director. Elinor missed junior school. Not even a month had passed before she was transferred to home schooling. With such a disease and disgusting behavior, the parents did not want to take any risks.
If the child’s brain cannot detect pain, then let him learn to avoid its occurrence and look for the prerequisites for possible injuries. Her older brother helped with this. The years passed, and while Wallace grew closer to his sister, parents moved further and further away from her. This upset her. It happened that she could deliberately crash into a table top or sofa, but no one else came to help. The father never tolerated this, and on top of everything else, he put pressure on the mother, trying to save her from endless empathy and regret. He loved this woman and could not watch her cry. He also hated his sister, Aunt Beatrice, who once took all the attention in the family with the same deviation. This explains why she comes to visit so rarely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The family is quite exemplary. Father is a surgeon, mother is a lawyer. The eldest son is going to follow in his father's footsteps. At the same time, both parents are constantly on the road. When the nannies and caregivers were tired of fussing with the capricious Elinor, and it was too early to leave Wallace in charge, Aunt Beatrice came. She was that sweet auntie, so understanding and cheerful. The wrinkles only embellished this woman’s smile. She understood Elinor like no one else. During all those rare visits, the girl learned so many useful things for herself. She was so pleased by Beatrice and so unbearably angry by her father, who looked for every opportunity to avoid getting involved with her, and her aunt, who lived for years with his resentment, understood everything and tried not to interfere with her brother’s family. I can't believe they are of the same blood.
Tumblr media
As for the brother, Wallace Walker, well… He's perfect. Exceptional in almost everything. Studies, appearance, character - he was always the center of attention wherever he found himself. Even at home. This didn't bother Elinor much. Considering how demanding his parents were, she even felt somehow sorry for him.. He is the pride of the family and must achieve everything that is expected of him. Having taught Wallace to be a nurse for Elinor, his father increasingly persuaded his son to become a doctor. In response, as he grew older, the guy began to increasingly curse his choice of life path. He liked helping the girl, but the stress from his parents was pressing more and more on his chest.
Tumblr media
When he became an actor, Eleanor would become the director for all the films in which Wallace would star. They will be inseparable like DiCaprio and Tim Burton. Such a funny fantasy distracted her.
In such a family there is so much time for oneself. Too much. It was too early to wander through abandoned buildings, to smoke and to study for a license, but she was lucky to get acquainted with film distribution. Of all the genres, it was horror that reverberated with fervor in her chest. Feeling no pain, she jumped every time fake blood appeared on the screen or when she saw fake weapons stabbing into actors. A strange emotion struck her every time while watching it. It was impossible to take your eyes off the cruelty on screen. An emotion that is impossible to experience was shown in all colors on the faces of the actors. Is it true that the pain is so unpleasant? Is she really like that? Various questions flashed through her mind so often that they forced her to take more and more discs with interest and follow the release of new slasher films in cinemas. How far can directors go with their cruelty? How she wanted to see more. The thought that in the future she herself could participate in horror filming warmed her soul.
A strong interest in cinema prompted Eleanor to earn extra money. The girl accidentally started buying CDs with her favorite films, gradually collecting a unique collection. Not as expensive as her father's cabinet of designer folding knives, and not as unusual as her mother's constant migraines from working too much. Any job available to a teenager was hers. Pocket money from parents was still only enough for lunch. With her purchases, they would never let her buy it all, let alone spend money on it all. Blu-ray editions of her favorite films took pride of place on the shelves in her room. Informal clothes, with edgy jewelry and creepy chains, took up residence in the darkest corner of Elinor's closet. Mom bought all her clothes. Over time, the closet stopped being so pink, but wearing boring floral blouses and skirts became unbearable. The girl often asked her brother to share his belt or shirts. And this guy definitely had style and a good heart. It was he who, through swearing and quarrels, was able to get his sister her personal, small, pot-bellied television. A gift she had never been able to save up for. This was the only birthday when her parents gave her exactly what Elinor wanted, and not what they thought was necessary. Whatever the thought behind this act, it did not improve the relationship, only inclining the girl towards greater isolation.
At school.. Don’t really want to talk about this part of her life. Elinor tried to get into any sports club, but her parents and teachers categorically prevented this. Teamwork was not for her at all, and her father and mother simply did not want to deal with another set of injuries. Sport is dangerous for Elinor. She only managed to get into an elective in physical education, which was already considered a victory. Anything that prepared him for a zombie attack or an escape from some abandoned place made Eli a little happier and his life simpler. What did the opposite was relationships with peers. Attempts to make friends ended in quarrels and even fights. Her classmates avoided her for many reasons, most often absurd and far-fetched, which is why she had to constantly prove that they were wrong. This did not lead the girl to success, only to the director’s office. Every day it became more and more difficult to be in society, feeling every non-existent gaze on myself and hearing the condemning vile whisper of my own self. She had to become an outcast, smoking outside the school walls from the constant tension pressing on her chest.
Maybe she would have spent her entire school life like this, completely alone, if Samantha had not appeared.
Tumblr media
Oh, Samantha, this is an individual case. She is gentle and playful in character, like a rose. She wasn’t popular, but she didn’t remain completely without views either. One day they crossed paths at a disc rental. The conversation started on its own; Elinor was extremely puzzled to see such a sweet girl in the horror section. Samantha turned out to be no less interested in such films. It's a pity that she liked ghosts much more than maniacs. Meeting after meeting brought them closer together until the two were sitting at the same table at lunch, discussing various nonsense. Eli considered her a gift from above and often asked if her friend was a hallucination, to which she only laughed and played along with her. Here she is, a person who finally understood her. Not literally, of course, but this girl was glad to spend time with her. A little communication on the way home - what more could you ask for?
That's how the days went by. Despite her distant parents, she has a wonderful older brother and an equally wonderful friend, as well as a collection of the best slasher films of the decade. Elinor believed that she didn’t need more; what else could she dream of? Life couldn't get any better.
Until she turned sixteen.
Wallace is graduating this year. Final and entrance exams will be the peak of parental pressure. And while it was gradually growing, as luck would have it, my brother fell ill. A purulent sore throat took the guy by surprise. It was partly his own fault, carelessly drinking ice-cold drinks at the beginning of autumn, but even the guy did not expect such a loud scandal. Elie listened quietly on the steps, clenching her hands into fists with anxiety. In a hoarse voice, Wallace tried to defend himself while the same things that were obvious to everyone were repeated to him. The father cursed louder than usual, saying how the guy was trying to retreat at the very last moment, how he wanted to disgrace himself and destroy his wonderful future… A lot of stupid things were said in his direction, but he still tried to fight back. When his brother finally left the kitchen and went to his room, he immediately noticed Elinor. He tiredly patted her on the head and walked past, knowing that she would follow him.
— Wallace? — I'll spend the night at Max's. He lives on the opposite side when looking from the school. Do you remember? — I remember. — Can you handle it? — Can I handle what? Them? Wallace, you'll be back, won't you? This question sounded unusually frightened. Wallace stopped and turned to his sister. — Of course, — he smiled, — I need a little peace and lie down. A little sleepover won't hurt anyone. His calm and tired appearance begged to be believed. Girl hugged him goodnight as tightly as she could. That night she did not sleep and perfectly heard her brother leaving.
How wrong he was.
Things only got worse. Elinor had no idea what a strong wall her brother was between her and her parents. All the anger and irritation of her family began to be dumped on her. And it wasn’t just a showdown in the kitchen with or without cause. The girl received the attention she dreamed of and was jealous of, but at what cost. The family constantly clung to clothes, to grades, to the lack of friends, to the girl’s hobbies. The habit of defending oneself with aggression played a role here too. No, she couldn't build arguments like Wallace did.
— Why were you rummaging through my room? — Young lady, you shouldn’t have secrets from your parents! — said her mother, while father flipped through the dirty notebook. It fell onto the kitchen table with a slam. — Amazing… Who told you that you would become a director? You can't even imagine how much it takes. — A little imagination and a camera? — Tell me, which of these do you have? Knowledge! Knowledge in various fields is necessary for any person, and even more so for a film director. I can count on one hand the number of school subjects you have no problems with, and even that number of fingers would be too many! — So how useful is damn drawing to you, dad? Are you making beautiful seams now? Or maybe you think that you have the right to call the patterned handles of fucking knives art?
The loud bang and swearing stopped. With a red cheek and rapid breathing, the girl looked at her mother.
— Don’t you dare swear in my house, ungrateful one. And don’t you dare contradict your father!
She didn't even listen. Ears began to ring due to fear. She staggered and immediately ran out of the house. Her legs themselves led her to a crossroads, where Elinor became exhausted, squatted down and began to cry.
The arguing in the house did not stop. Stress and pressure only grew, and Elinor herself once again hung the poster in her room, covering the dent from her fist. She was so easy to piss off. Unfortunately, Samantha also managed to fall under the hot hand. Both girls never talked about personal things, about life. Perhaps it was worth raising this topic at least sometimes. Samantha had always noticed her friend's impulsiveness and temper, but lately Elinor had started to get angry out of nowhere over little things. Any little things. It wasn't good. Every hit of the vending machine, clap, throw, and even a glance from her friend made the girl jump in place and automatically cover herself with her hands. She was so afraid of being next. One day she even dared to ask if Eli could have hurt her? To which the girl said in surprise, «No way! Samantha, why do you ask?» In response, she could only smile awkwardly and change the subject.
— Elinor, — Samantha whispered, standing in the main doors of the school.
She looked guiltily at the floor when Elinor turned to her, and then pressed one button on her mobile phone. The puzzled girl heard the notification and immediately read the incoming SMS. The way she looked at Samantha made her shrink and step back.
— Is this a joke? Samantha, are you joking? — Sorry. I really thought I could fix you, — the gentle voice quickly trembled, — but I can’t do that anymore. — I'm sorry. — Samantha, I would never… Please, just listen. — Don't come near me! Stop! Don't!
Elinor didn't even take a step in her direction. All in tears, the girl ran out of the school. Devouring the back of her ex-friend's head with her eyes, she simply couldn't believe it. Was she friends with her out of pity? Her insides twisted, how unbearably disgusting it was to realize all this. She had nowhere to put all that she was experiencing. The angry voices were so loud that the girl did not remember how she returned home. Collapsed on the bed, she wrote a message to her brother. Another one that he will answer very late. Wallace was at school, calling his parents, he definitely didn't run away, but she didn't really want to go after him in front of her friends. Even though he still had a cold, he looked more alive. Short conversations with him after class gave her hope for the best. He said he would be home by Halloween.
It's mid-October. Elinor's favorite holiday is getting closer every day. But she isolated herself. I stopped attending classes and could barely move around the house. Insomnia was disrupting her sleep patterns. Elinor wandered aimlessly through the forest at night, through abandoned buildings, and during the day she slept for a couple of hours in order to continue wasting time. There were questions about missed lessons, but she had no idea how her parents solved them. Never cared about it. Often, she would go into her brother’s room and sit on various forums at his computer. Users shared new movies, leaked posters, and shared stories, but in her current state, Elinor was flipping through completely different threads. Violent and dark discussions could last for hours. She believed that this was an alternative way to cope with her anger, to release aggression into the text, to pretend that you were writing a script for a new slasher film. And although the flame of hatred for everything and everyone gradually faded away, new lights flared up more and more often, illuminating the path to the darkest corners of Elinor’s consciousness.
Sometimes she wondered what would have happened if they had just run away? Beatrice would gladly accept them, just pack your things and quietly take a bus or taxi at night, or whatever. But parents must somehow react to the escape of their children. Her mother is a lawyer. This is just an iceberg on the way of their Titanic. It would be no problem for her to get her children back for the best benefit of the family, and that was why Elinor hated her so much. She is sure that she has figured out this plan exactly. The minor daughter, for whose custody Beatrice will be suing, is recognized as mentally ill. Someone from the hospital will believe her father's plaintive cry and testify against Elinor, with real papers and all that crap. Sick in the head child will go to a mental hospital, and a kind brother will do everything to ensure that she does not suffer. He will return and become what they wanted him to be. After all, the trial will not affect him, only Elinor, a minor. Such a development of events was not even considered. Wallace has suffered enough, she can't afford to cause him any more trouble.
The long-awaited Halloween has arrived. The day dragged on so unbearably long. Elinor constantly fell asleep for just a few minutes, only to look at the clock and close her eyes again. As the sun approached the treetops, she received a call. It was Wallace. Said he'd be back after Halloween. The girl no longer heard his worried questions about absences and well-being. My head was splitting at the seams. She was so angry about all this. She couldn't believe that he couldn't come back. I didn’t believe in another date change. He definitely ran away. No, it couldn't be that Wallace just ran away. There must be a reason why he can't be here, come home. But there was a reason. Wait, it was true. And it was so obvious and easily solved that I couldn’t even believe it.
Father slept like a rock, but mother always needed sleeping pills. At midnight, the girl gathered her things and went out into the corridor. Taking out her small folding knife from her jacket, the girl crept into her parents' bedroom. She leaned over her mother, looking at her calm face. For the last time, she assessed her actions, and then ran the blade across the woman’s throat. Her chest quickly began to twitch unevenly. Fortunately, the mother did not wake up. It was the most merciful death that her daughter could give her. The girl clutched the knife tighter as she walked around the bed. He’s so kind when he’s not frowning. Father seemed really good as long as people looked at him. It is important for him to be able to behave, he is a doctor after all. Raising the blade, the girl delivered a sharp blow to the man's neck when a heavy hand slammed into his face. She was pushed back by inertia, girl quickly straightened up to see the father rise from the bed, looking at his own child in anger. The heat went from the lip to the cheek. The taste of metal and a slight chill on the chin. He stabbed her with one of his collectible knives.
— Ungrateful monster! He walked toward her with wheezing sounds. Blood was soaking into the collar of his shirt. — How dare you!? The man swung his hand, and she was confused. Blood dripped into the eye from the eyebrow. — Your life is worthless! Do you think this was even worth anything?! Blood filled his mouth. Squeezing her throat with one hand, he wanted to hit Elinor again. The girl moved further and further, covering herself with her hands. — You ruined my family! Destroyed! YOU— She pressed herself against the wall and squeezed her eyes shut when her father raised his hand with a knife above her head. But instead of a blow the body fell face down on the floor. Elinor froze. Breathing heavily, she smiled. Laughter escaped her lips, growing stronger with each passing second as the girl slid to the floor.
Tumblr media
Throwing on her jacket, she felt a pack of cigarettes in her pocket and exhaled. What a nice little thing, it’s definitely worth a smoke break after what happened. Before leaving, Elinor wanted to turn off the computer. She noticed a new message and curiosity took over.
[Hey. Do you want to take a walk through abandoned places now? I recognize the photos from your thread, it’s not far from me] [Sure]
The stairs almost killed her when her vision went dark. It had been a long time since Elinor had lost so much blood. Such simple and stupid thoughts were spinning in her head. Walking out the front door, She froze. Can't be.
— Elinor? Wallace stood on the porch with his duffel bag and backpack. All so sunny. He definitely planned to surprise his sister. — Sorry. Somehow I even… Are you real? — Are you serious now? Elinor did not dare to hug him, but when he came up and pressed her to him, she could not restrain herself. — What a grip! What, are you running off to celebrate? — Yes... Yes! Can you cover me? — No problem. The main thing is to be back before morning. Laughing, Wallace released his sister. As Elinor was leaving, he called out to her one last time.
—Happy Halloween, Elinor.
Tumblr media
Elinor had no idea what a strong wall her brother was between her and her parents.
This was the only way to repay him for all his care.
Now they are free. Now he will find his happiness.
Afterword
The white light forced her to wake up. Her head was pounding terribly, and her lungs were tingling as she inhaled. Rising somewhere in the forest, the first thing Elinor did was light a cigarette. The black smoke left her body as she exhaled, her skull no longer squeezing her tiny brain in a vice. Last night felt so blurry and unclear. The thick fog around was confusing. Touching the back of her head, she noticed how the darkened hair crunched with dried blood, like a crust on a wound. Cool. It seems like there was a light snowfall last night.
All that remains is to finish smoking and decide where to go first.

New research has been published this month on diet and dilated cardiomyopathy. The paper can be accessed here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/jvim.16606 Key takeaway: When compared between diet groups, healthy adult dogs eating diets containing pulse legumes (peas, lentils, chickpeas, beans) as main ingredients have lower cardiac function and higher ventricular volume than dogs eating grain-inclusive diets without potatoes or pulses in the first 10 ingredients. Study summary: In this study, researchers sought healthy, owned adult dogs that had been consistently eating the same diet for at least 1 year duration and receiving 90% or more of their daily calories from a single commercial kibble. Diets were divided into "traditional" (grain-containing, no pulse legumes or potatoes in the first 10 ingredients) and "non-traditional" (pulse ingredients as main ingredients). In order to address potential confounding variables, researchers excluded dogs with congenital heart disease, heart murmur, or arrhythmia, as well as several breeds based on their potential predisposition to DCM or taurine-deficiency. In total, 23 dogs matched for age and breed were enrolled into each study group. Dogs accepted into the study received an echocardiogram. The screened dogs had cardiac measurements falling within accepted reference ranges for normal. However, on average, dogs in the non-traditional diet group had reduced systolic function (the ability of the heart to pump out blood to arteries) and larger ventricular volume (the amount of blood filled into the chamber before being pumped out-- excessively high volumes, or volume overload, is a component of heart disease). Researchers note that further study would be needed to determine if increases in ventricular volume precede increases in ventricular measurements. Researchers conclude: "Despite these limitations, results from this study showed that dogs eating nontraditional diets had several echocardiographic variables suggestive of larger left ventricular size and lower myocardial systolic performance as compared to dogs eating traditional diets, although echocardiographic variables for both groups were largely within extant reference intervals.”

Are there any sicknesses that night na'vi can get? Can something give them like... an upset stomach for example? Are there some specific things they're just not very good at/with?
Good question, and the answer is yes:
Tumblr media
In the world of medicine, this is how they organize types of diseases.
Night Na’vi are immune to acquired communicable and infectious diseases, but they are still capable of developing congenital diseases, such as Nakir’s disorder that severely diminishes her ability to gain weight and contributes to her muscle weakness.
Night Na’vi are also able to develop non-communicable and non-infectious diseases such as deficiencies caused by malnutrition (which is something they are especially prone to as mentioned in a previous about Night Na’vi metabolisms), cancer (which is what killed Nakir’s mom when Nakir was just a little girl), and degenerative diseases, which are diseases mainly seen in the elderly due to wear and tear over the years (things like heart disease they’ve spent and entire lifetime pumping blood nonstop).
As far as Night Na’vi run of the mill diseases, it’s mainly deficiencies such as Na’vi versions of scurvy (lack of vitamin C) since they have more nutritional needs, but only so much room in their stomachs.
Nutrition is a big deal with the Na’vi to the point where they have to consciously think about what they eat on what days, so they have track what they eat. For example, while certain vegetables are high in nutrients (ie broccoli), they are low in carbohydrates, take up lot of space in the stomach, and take longer to digest. So the Night Na’vi will reserve a day to build up on specifically on fibrous foods and then other days to build up on carbohydrates (which you cannot survive without as they are the main fuel source for living things).
It’s especially important for children to have good nutrition since their bodies are still developing.

Why do rqs seem to think the only argument against incest is genetics and not that... you know, we've evolved so that it is literally traumatizing to date someone related to you, with or without an age gap. It's also so ironic that they're talking about eugenics when historically incest happened "to protect the bloodline" 😭
I have a quote from a article that was about the results of incest in royalty and i think its fitting.
"It was a way to preserve blue blood and establish political alliances. The lack of new blood in the genetic inheritance, however, perpetuated (and accentuated) undesirable physical characteristics, caused the emergence of congenital diseases, and increased infant mortality in those families."

Anisocoria (differently sized pupils) is everyone's least favorite clinical sign because it could mean anything, or nothing. Here's an incomplete differential diagnostic list: congenital defect of the iris, neoplasia (brain), neoplasia (eye), iris atrophy due to age, idiopathic sympathetic nerve dysfunction, uveitis, glaucoma, corneal ulcer, ear infection, infectious disease of the central nervous system, immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system, head trauma causing elevated intracranial pressure, any disruption of blood flow such as an embolism, and transient eye irritation caused by whatever. I brought an ER doctor a dog with anisocoria the other day and she was legit like "why me, God?"
Readers, it resolved spontaneously.

TW: loss of pet.
My baby black kitten died of fading kitten syndrome. She had congenital abnormalities (defects she was born with) like an enlarged kidney (which was very concerning), and extreme anemia aka low red blood cell count (her gums were all white), probably due to the Feline Leukemia she had tested positive for. She was the runt.
She was eating and licking small chunks of wet food off of her lips just the other day. She was play fighting with her siblings just the other day (granted she always was the least active because of the doomed cards she’d been dealt). But despite all her efforts to try and become healthy, in the last 24 hours, she faded.
I gave her the best possible life. Her attempted treatment lasted 12 hours before we made the decision to euthanize her, as she wasn’t responding to treatment and the leukemia was fatal. It consisted of an oxygen chamber, dextrose (sugar for her anemia), tube feedings, bloodwork, X-rays, disease tests. Those 12 hours costed me $2,500 USD. I used my life savings. I wanted her to live so badly. I wanted her to be a grown, healthy and recovered black cat who sat by the window and soaked in the gentle sunlight. I wanted to hold her and have more moments of her falling asleep in my arms— the night before her decline she was fine and had been laying on my arm, swaddled by my hoodie, her tiny 0.87 ibs / ~370 gram body cozy and warm, and she fell asleep before I started watching Survivor. I remember soaking that moment in, the yellow light of the living room. The quiet of the navy night beyond the curtains. A moment of pure coziness and sleepiness. A moment made only by two.
She was always sick and tired but didn’t show her pain. I blamed myself for her rapid decline, but the doctors all said she stayed alive as long as she could because of me (we took in a litter of kittens from outdoors last week, and it’s been so rainy, the wooden blanks under which they rested were all soaked through).
I’m grateful for every moment, my baby. Every nom of food. The way you walked up to me and meowed for food after just one day knowing me. You were starving and trusted me. The way you stared at me and jumped up, put your paws up on the oxygen chamber’s clear walls as they took you away to do treatment— you tried to go to me. I loved you and I love you forever. It was so unfair. It is so unfair. You should be alive now. I know how hard you fought to survive, to grow big and healthy. Your siblings were always so much heavier than you, alive and playing around with each other right now, though you are dead and cold and limp and decaying.
But you’re no longer in pain. You’re not going to suffocate to death. I found you in time and put you through treatment so that you could be warm and fed and given the oxygen you needed to fill your failing body— I found you in time to give you a comfortable death. You should be alive right now, you should’ve been born healthy. But you aren’t alive. But you also aren’t in pain. I did everything I could do and I am so sorry. I will take care of your siblings for you. Through the intense grief. Through it all. I love you forever, my blessing. My little kitten. 🖤

[1]Ok, regarding the topic of consangs; once having adressed the main ethical concern of "Whatever consenting adults do is their business" has been already adressed without problems, the rest of the concerns are pretty easier to adress. So, beginning with the issue of "should this be an accepted practice?"; the answer is simple. Consanguinamory is an orientation, not a practice. I know I know, it sounds counterintuitive and many would argue it may be offensive to the LGBTI, but how better[]
[2]evidence than ourselves? I wouldn't date a relative, you wouldn't date a relative; most of us wouldn't date a relative because well, the main premise of we being unable to feel romantical/sexual interest in one of them. Consangs can; it's precise mechanism behind is still unknown, but for what can be told by couples, there is some kind of "merging" between the familial affections and the romantic ones, for short it is called "Double-Love" so the basic premise of an ubiquous emotional stage[]
[3]qualifies it as an orientation. Now, why was so widespread in the past? Simple, it wasn't. Consang couples were an allowance in social life as any other freedom guarantee has been across History and only in punctual cases. Many will citize the egyptian royal houses and the hamsburgs or secluded societies or such to point the "countereffects" and keeping the idea it is a practice, and there is where the bootstrap is. Those overstructured portions of society (notably the royal houses) engaged[] [4]in familial marriages because of ideological schemes or political agendas (mentioning the topic of "blood purity" so often mentioned in royal houses and many highly hierarchized societies from the past. What's to be fought in those cases isn't familial marriage, it's Forced Marriage. The main problematic has largely been fought and adressed in these recent times, but sadly the stigma remains against the demographics affected by it (incestuous partners and many ethnicities). For what [] [5]concerns to what would be the average statistics of consang couples, the subsequent problem of why there is a larguely wider amount of reports of incest-thru-abuse than consang couples falls upon the weight of this stigma. Depending of the society affected, they have to hide from the public eye, in the best of cases being supported by their inmediate peers and in the worst cases, outed and ostraziced of society. So, if they are in the hiding, the chances of them being able to discuss or[] [6]simply saying "Hey! we're here" are absurdly low because the chances of their lives to be ruined for that are too high for the risk. So the statistical bias (and the lack of serious research about them) falls in the pithole of statistical bias. The bubbling communities of couples and non-couple consangs that have sprouted in internet in these recent years are their firsts and best attempts to try to gain visibility, so we must be aware they're barely stepping out the hiding. [] [7]Now, what about the children? First it must be understood that the inbreed depression cases caused by the cases of malpractice from secluded societies and royal causes are the result of multigenerational inbreeding that's only possible within those schemes. It is like drawing a line and then overdrawing on it without a rule; eventually it will become crooked; so those cases are because of the indiscriminate enhancement of traits of the bloodline, not something that happens magically;[] [8]for what comes to punctual cases (actual consangs), even when the risk of a congenital disease relies highly in other risk factors as the health status, age and exposure of contamination the partners had just like in any other couple. for the general consang population is quite low, not dissimilar from the dimmest of risk factors. And even if it were the case, having a child is not a compulsion of a couple, it's a very personal choice that's not taken lightly (especially when your[] [9]demographics is as stigmatized as with consangs). Besides, even assuming they want to, can they? lots of consang couples are same-sex couples, and there is always the possibility of one of them being sterile; having so much focus in what turns out to be a personal choice contradicts the premise of "whatever consenting adults do is their business", and the chance of having a disabled child is not exclusive to them. Nature is unpredictable, hence why having a kid is such a heavy choice[] [10]regardless the parents. Ok, now for the last topic of how healthy an incestuous relationship may be? I can only reccomend you to seek for those couples in those communities and ask them directly. Because I can say whatever of what I've learned about "Most of time there is a positive pre-existing family relationship or in the case of adopted families there was never a familial bond to begin with" and such, but ultimately is them the ones who know best, so their insight is not to be ignored.
Okay, now that's a long ask XD Anyway, thank you for sharing your opinion. I won't answer all the things, if I have nothing to say or I'm not sure about something, I'd rather keep silent and just let the followers evaluate what you said themselves. But I will still say a few things.
About consanguinamory being an orientation: I disagree. That's like calling pedophilia a sexual orientation just because this is innate. But this is not, this is a paraphilia. So, if being sexually attracted to your relatives is innate, then it would be a paraphilia too. By the way, do you know of research on this topic? If there are any. I didn't explore this theme, so I wouldn't really know. Also, when you were talking about "you wouldn't date your relative", I actually believe that's the case only with close relatives, and that any person can (potentially!) feel an attraction to their cousins. No, I'm not talking from personal experience ahaha (just in case), but that the kind of conclusion I came to, as cousins are genetically distant enough.
I agree about forced marriages being evil rather than familial marriages. Cousin marriages wouldn't be so common if not for this reason.
Okay, I heard you about statistics. I thought about it myself, actually. I still believe most cases of incest are abuse/trauma/manipulation, but with innacurate statistics it's hard to prove something, so I'll leave it at that.
About children: I do agree that there are other risk factors BUT this does not reduce the responsibility. It's one thing with cousin couples (from Wikipedia: Put differently, a single first-cousin marriage entails a similar increased risk of birth defects and mortality as a woman faces when she gives birth at age 41 rather than at 30), when the risk is not that high, but I think having a child with a relative closer than a cousin is absolutely irresponsible. I've seen people argue "But there are people that are not related but still carry the same gene, and no one says anything!" Well, I do. I do say it. It doesn't matter what causes the risk, incest or not, that's still irresponsible. I understand that's a controversial opinion, but I believe that. And no, "what consenting adults do is their business" does NOT apply to having children. You're involving a child in your morally dubious act. They'll have to live with this their whole live even if they come out healthy. That is not okay.
I understand what you're trying to say, but at the same time, by just ASKING people "Is your relationship healthy?" you won't know it. I am not a therapist, and even if I was, it takes a personal meeting and getting to know a couple. I don't count adopted family as incest by the way. I'm saying this not because I'm so horrible that I don't believe people, but because I'm familiar with a few incest stories, where a daughter was groomed by a father and understood that situation was abusive only after quitting the relationship. I can't eliminate such a possibility.
I hope I managed to answer this. Again, followers or anyone really can send me asks with your opinion.

metal magic system save me...
i should be focusing on my college report due in like three days, but i'm hyperfocused about applying our chemistry lessons to my story. metal based magic, different metals like aluminum or gold or tin affect the nature of one's magic. you cry "mistborn!" and i hear you, but this is a little different than allomancy.
instead of ingesting or consuming metals, they're buried inside one's body, embedded into their heart or organs, acting as a conduit that enable them to harness the energy around them. it's what allows them to cast spells and gives them magic. the most common metals are gold, copper, silver, and aluminum, though the kind of metal does not dictate the magic's level of strength like some sort of hierarchy, instead it describes the nature of it.
for example is gold -- since as a metal it is soft and the most malleable, that means if your metal is gold then it is not very effective for combat, though the area of effect can be increadibly wide and thinned down, the most powerful being able to affect an entire kilometre with their magic. because of its softness and its ability to be molded easily, the users can find more creative uses for their magic, making it more general, at the cost of its lethality and the ease of casting it (due to its heaviness and density). and another property of gold is it's highly conductive to electricity, which means it's the most conducive to working with technology. what does that mean? i'll come back to that later.
the routine is similar with other metals, the magic's nature is reliant on the metal's properties. aluminum is lightweight and thus easy to cast, but increadibly soft meaning the magic is less likely to be used for damage purposes. it's nonmagnetic and nonsparking, which gives it an advantage over other metals that are susceptible to lodestones and fire. silver is both malleable and ductile, it affects quite an area and can also target points with precision (yes that is my comprehension of ductility applied to magic) but it's also hard and lustrous, it has the capability of dealing damage with ✨ style ✨. yada yada, you get the whole deal.
now iron is a special case. it's rare to find someone whose metal is iron, most of the time it would be alloys like steel and wrought iron, but pure iron is like drawing the shortest lot. first is its magnetic, or at least one of its form is, meaning magic can easily be dispelled by a few well placed lodestones. it's hard, dealing plenty of damage, but also brittle, easily countered. but the most important part is its highly reactive and easily rusts/corrode. considering these metals are placed inside one's organs, the body forming around it and treating it as its own organ, oxygen filled blood readily flows through those metals, and oxygen with iron means disaster. essentially, being born with iron is a congenital disease unless given treatment like attaching a sacrificial anode which needs regular replacements.
alloys could be formed from iron to make it more stable, but seriously, how are you going to heat up a goddamn organ to high temperature and keep the guy alive? i haven't yet decided how and why people are born with kinds of metals, i'm tempted to handwave it away and plead "soft magic", or environmental factors, because i am certainly not delving into eugenics.
so currently that's everything about this part of the magic system, there's still the aforementioned connection with technology and catalysts that i'll explain in another post. but this was fun to think up of while i procrastinated on my report. this was me using my chemistry lessons for worldbuilding, except, you know, after it's useful to hyperfixiate anymore. this info is going to be useless to me in the next semester but what can you do.
... actually maybe i can worldbuild something with my report too.

I'm kinda torn in the whole prolife/prochoice thing. At one hand I'd feel so heartbroken if I tore life away from my womb. Also if you can decide some lives at some stages aren't worth keeping alive and giving support to I'd feel the slippery slope that would slide into dehumanizing other groups of people who we at least for now, on general societal level, deem worth enough to let live and support. There's a reason MAID in Canada is so rancid rn.
At the other hand I just don't feel like a fetus of up to a certain couple weeks is the same as a baby. I just don't feel like it is the same, and the reason is how far the development is. Development reaches a point much faster than many realise where a baby of some kind is distinguishable... some women pee out their very small zygote and only later find out, I know of someone. She didn't commit negligence or accidental manslaughter, which legally she would have if indeed a personhood is assigned to a fertilised egg from day one.
I am not the anon ranting at you before, but as you seem to be in contact with some trad blogs, while having your opinion on abortion and I was curious if you had any thoughts you wanted to share further. If not and you don't want to, and this is obnoxious, I'm sorry and that's completely understandable and I'd just wish you a nice chicken wings dinner! Cheers
it's hard to articulate all of my thoughts into one post but i will try to
personally, i do believe that life begins at conception. as soon as the zygote implants into your uterine wall, which is when you become officially pregnant, that zygote now has personhood. there is not even scientific doubt about that - that is the literal moment life begins. but as a person who has experience living with someone who has a severe trisomy, and separate experience living with someone who has congenital diseases that require using another person's organ to stay alive, and as a woman who is currently pregnant, my thoughts are far more complex on whether or not being pregnant automatically means that you owe another person your life and organs to live off of
even though my pregnancy is very low risk and im extremely healthy, being pregnant just sucks. i genuinely think you have to have an intense disconnect with your body and sensations to believe otherwise. my belly button stretching to accommodate my growing belly is extremely painful. my abs ripping apart inside me to accommodate my belly is extremely painful. my nipples are tender constantly. even though i haven't gained any weight yet, the extra mass on the front of my torso is difficult to balance and keep my spine and hips neutral to keep good posture, so that my ass and core muscles don't atrophy. the nausea during the first 10 weeks was horrific. keeping my core strong is hard when there's a bowling ball sitting in the bottom of your torso. the ligaments in my hips and feet softening and spreading is painful. i have no stretch marks yet, but im dreading them. my tits ballooned up to a DDD on my tiny 5'2 frame, so none of my clothes fit right and i feel like a fucking whale. im scared to get loose skin and deflated boobs and a widened waist. im keeping my diet as healthy as possible but it's hard when every craving you have is not healthy at all. you are building every single cell of this person's body using your own nutrients, blood, flesh, etc and the baby WILL take what it needs from your literal bones and teeth if you're not giving it what it needs. and those are only physical symptoms ive listed. the mental ones, like preparing to give birth and parent a child, or even decorate a baby's room, or all the questions you're being asked constantly or shitty advice you're getting, are very taxing as well
so to insist that pregnancy is something totally passive that just happens to your body, with no side effects, even though yes women are designed to be lifegivers, seems delusive and misleading. it's very hard and i could never judge someone for not wanting to go through with any of that
on the other hand, i do agree that it's somewhat of a slippery slope. i don't think it's a good thing to kill elderly people or all disabled people. i don't think we should kill people just because they can't contribute to society in meaningful ways
but also, as a person who intimately aware of the way government funding and welfare systems work for profoundly disabled individuals, i can't help but be miffed at the idea of being fully aware that your child is going to live either on a vent their whole life, sucking up government cheese that could have went to like, idk a disabled veteran or something, and still going through with producing this person. the argument i get alot is "well people with down's syndrome can be grocery baggers! they can have relationships!" that's like, the top 5-10% of elite downies. and even then, they are suffering from seizures disorders, early onset dementia, and a variety of other things that make it impossible to live on their own or ever being capable of living a full life. the rest of them grow older to be fully dependent, barely functioning, and oftentimes have a lot of anger issues due to neurological and learning disabilities. can you imagine being bodied by a 300 pound angry grown man who quite LITERALLY has no concept of calming down? it fucking sucks
at the end of the day, i cannot tell anyone else what to do regarding their pregnancy or children even if i think they have dumbass opinions. i can only offer my own opinions based on experience and ideas
