Summary:

There was no principality of the eastern gate. Well, there was, in a way. Principality was more of a role, really, one he had readily taken. Now you see, there had been... Well, just a little bit of an understanding really...! When She had asked Aziraphale to go along witht he demands of humans, he doubted She meant "If Eve offers you an apple, take it." But, well, you see, Aziraphale was very bad at refusing the little humans anything.

So here he it, four head, four limbs, four wings and an appletree growing from his chest with which he accidently enlightened humanity. Oh and the apocalypse was about to start... As if Aziraphale did not have enough going on. The leaves got everywhere! He did not think he was in any way equipped to deal with such a thing. But well... Crowley always made a convincing argument, didn't he...?

What will I do when the opening scene of Good Omens s3 is the fall? When all the angels are collected along the edge of a cliff watching hundreds of thousands of angels fall into hell and their wings are charred and there’s screaming and chaos and pain in the air. When Crowley reaches a hand out, trying to hold on to something, anything, because all he did was ask a few questions he just hung around the wrong people he didn’t mean to fall. When he looks and Aziraphale – that nice cherub who helped hold up the nebula designs for him and complimented his work but followed the rules a bit too much – is right above him, watching with a heartbroken face because he doesn’t like when anyone is in pain. When Aziraphale lifts his hand, almost reaching out to him, before pulling back and looking away, hoping no one else noticed his compassion for a fallen angel because they might punish him too. What will I do then?

Aziraphale and the Book of Life

So I had a thought the other day.

Aziraphale was confirmed to be a Cherub at the time of Eden, and changed to Principality later on.

Crowley says the Book of Life was "just something we used to scare the cherubs". Which I took as a joke about the typical 'little winged babies' image we have of cherubs as scaring the kids, but...

Look at Aziraphale's face while he's being threatened with it directly by Michael:

That's a pretty serious Az face, poor thing.

Meanwhile Crowley... is just chilling the fuck out lol.

I have a feeling Crowley never took the Book seriously so much as the 'Heaven is using this as a threat so they're Big Mad' part, but uh. Forgot to check if Aziraphale was in the know, too.

Summary:

Crowley was making a habit out of things. And it took Aziraphale a while to catch on. He was quite comfortable with the arrangement, honestly. At first it made him anxious, but Gabriel really didn’t seem too bothered. He just seemed… Friendly but also the exact opposite. And Aziraphale’s siblings of the higher sphere’s didn’t… They didn’t really… Well, they were trying.

It simply meant Aziraphale spent a lot of time with Crowley and well... that wasn't the worst thing, really.
