Teenage superhero groups are so good. Not only because they're always really fucking relatable, but also because their relationships are so special. They're like:

“I met you, and I was weary of you at first. We've become closer and closer to the point we trust eachother with our lives, but still not with our identities — it's sad, but it's how it is.

You've cried to me about how your mentor didn't listen to you, about how they yelled at you and didn't seem to care enough. Our proteges have found eachother the same way we did. The happiness from seeing me in your face was everything I needed to be convinced to stay with you.

We've been getting the others to come back, too. We're also recruiting new people, new young heroes who will get themselves killed if they're not guided properly. We're not the same young kids anymore, but we're together once again, and that's all that matters.

We grew up very quickly. I can see it from the way we don't laugh as much anymore, from the way we're the one attempting to stop the younger ones from pulling pranks on us, from the way we train instead of being trained.

We're all adults now. There was a time where we lost ourselves, and we wouldn't find us anymore. A time where I went to our old lair and saw it empty, devoid of life. A time where I tried to call you and you didn't answer. A time where I saw you on TV, with a kid by your side, looking at you like you're their entire world.

We're adults now. We've lost ourselves many times. But we've found eachother again. And I think that's what matters. Because we're not only teammates anymore; we're family.”

MY FAVORITE THINGS OF 2023 🎆

So yeah.

Jujutsu Kaisen S2 is my favorite anime of the year. It gave me SatoSugu; my new fave BL yaoi OTP. Which in turn got my side blog; Queen Endless, going on here and has shown me more of a boom on here than anything before.

The Ahsoka Series gave us our Anakin Ahsoka reunion with ep 4 and 5 and God Ep 5 gave me everything I wanged and more and yeah Ezra, Thrawn, and much more showed up but TCW keeps on coming back to feed me good.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 gave me Bully Lowenthal, live action kid Ben 10 all grown up as Harry, Venom madness, and was an overall rollercoaster.

Dtoons Team Teen Cartoon Heroes Unite gave me Ben, Bloom, and Yugi all in the same episode/screenshot and yeah a congregation of cartoon and anime characters galore. Imma try to draw some inspired fanart for it soon. Hopefully.

Anigomi, making character audio x listerner content on YouTube, covering guys and gals from anime and etc. My favorite VA of theirs is Han who voices Gojo, Hawks, Dazai, Tamaki and probably more. They do commissions, they're EXPENSIVE, but their content is great and they have Patreon for the MATURE stuff so there.

Five Years Later by The Ink Tank, the Ben 10 Danny Phantom crossover webcomic turned motion comic/dub with professional VAs and we're getting the next 3 episodes coming right around the corner and it's ALL SO GOOD!

Scream 6. My favorite horror series. Which makes me sad cause Scream 7 ain't happening cause our two lead girls were fired/quit along with the director of the 6 cause of stupid BS. So reboot? It just won't be the same.

Once Upon A Studio, a homage to the House of Mouse in my opinion. The Disney crossover of all time that was wholesome and funny tied up in a bow.

The Pink Popcast is hilarious. Benji and Rizzo are great commenters/people you can vibe with well. For first time reactions to watching them react to my fave stuff is all around entertaining. Especially when they talk about musicals, Scream and Disney.

Arline and Viktor will do something fun together, father & daughter night out 🥺 maybe Arline would want to see a show (I don't know what kind of entertainment they have in Arcane)

Dannie and Murphy are going out to a particular fancy restaurant that Dannie has been wanting to go to for a while.

Silas and Copia are staying in for the day/night and cuddling up watching movies together (a home-cooked meal included)

Arith is planning on showering Iriel with attention and gifts basically all day. Take her out shopping and then they'll go eat out at a nice restaurant. Iriel says that she doesn't need all the attention but Arith always insists and Iriel appreciates it.

Kaia and Odel will probably pop over to Paris and have a nice night out.

Eliška and Rocket will give each other gifts, usually just one they put a lot of thought into.

Marigold and Peter will have a sweet date night.

Rosie and Allison will either go to the beach or go see a movie.

Lee will insist on a movie night in the Dreaming with everyone.

Jelaa and Ahsoka will go on a hike and maybe picnic. And then stargaze.

Van and Eleri will have a small shopping day and then eat out. Eleri will probably draw them a card that says "Best sibling ever" or something similar.

Write one headcanon for each of your fanfictions’ ships please!

So I have a few different versions of some of my ships so I'll put the title of the story next to which version I mean :) Also the comfort edition??? Most of these are kind of soft so yeahhhhh... I just finished a chapter of Tangle Hearts so I'm feeling soft :)

Spike/Luigi: cooking together becomes a big part of their relationship, it can be slow and lazy sometimes, sipping their preferred drinks and sneaking in a kiss or two. They especially enjoy this activity when it's bad weather outside, cooking up cozy dishes that are perfect for gross weather :)

Raphael/Saki (Nova) They enjoy quiet time together, just cuddling and doing their own thing (Reading and knitting respectively)

Danny/Vlad (Unintended) They get bored just cuddling so they watch movies, and play video/board games together. It gets massively competitive and someone usually ends up breaking something!

Donnie/Saki: They share baths if they have the time to. You could hear the water drip if it were to do so. They don't have to talk to enjoy time with each other.

Cad Bane/Padme: Cuddling never hurts anyone but Padme gets too rarely as Cad is a paranoid bastard, but she does enjoy sharing new snacks with him in bed while a holo film is playing in the background.

Obi-Wan/Dooku: Drinking tea, it reminds them of when things were simpler, and on days they can relax together if on a planet with nature, they take long walks through the woods/fields/etc.

Cad Bane/Obi-Wan: Laying together in bed without a stitch on but not having sexy times. Just basking in each other (Or in Cad's case basking in Obi-Wan's warmth)

Obi-Wan/Ahsoka: Tea, stories, and hiking are these two's favorite go-to activities. But, Ahsoka likes to watch Obi-Wan haggle with vendors/merchants. Obi-Wan takes enjoyment from her contentment and haggles as long as he can.

King Boo/Luigi: Luigi likes to watch Boo Paint, and Boo likes to paint Luigi. Win/win here, except if Boo's in a bad mood then Luigi is left wondering if he'll get sucked into a portrait XD

Bowser/Luigi and alternately Bowser/Mario: after a long day of running a kingdom all they want to do is cuddle in front of a fireplace (Not too close in Luigi or Mario's case) and talk about anything other than work. (Bowser's tail sneaking in and wrapping around Luigi/Mario's middle)

Peach/Mario (Tangled Hearts): Waking in the morning to each other and sneaking in kisses while getting ready for the day before going their separate ways for the day.

Daisy/Rosalina (Tangled Hearts): Watching shooting stars and talking about whatever their hearts desire :)

Peasley/Luigi (Tangled Hearts): Luigi got Peasley into gardening and they would spend time in the gardens sometimes laughing and sneakily getting each other with dirt or worms.

Luigi/Peach (Tangled Hearts): While not a couple I thought I should mention their dynamic anyway :) They like being in the library together, trading stories of things they know as both grew up in worlds very different from each other. Girls' Night was Luigi's idea as Peach wanted a reason for Daisy and Rosalina to visit. The women all agreed Luigi was to have an open invitation as he was the one to suggest it.

Ezra/Kanan: Using the force to 'bump' each other, just knowing that the other is near is soothing.

Klaus von Reinherz/Steven A. Starphase/Leonardo Watch: All three of them in bed watching a movie and having snacks not having to worry about work at the moment :)

Brotein/ Clarice: They're my people watchers, they enjoy sitting together and watching everyone else have fun flitting in sometimes to grab a snack or hug.

Augustine/Quenchy: Using their skills together because creating things together is a fun activity for both of them and Quenchy is always happily reminded when using whatever they made together of the time they've spent together.

Bebop/Leonardo/Rocksteady: Competitive games, anything they can get their hands on because they enjoy pushing each other's limits.

Casey Jones/Raphael: They still sit around on rooftops with a case of beer now and then. Reminising about times they had done so in the past.

April O'Neil/ Venus de Milo: A good movie with wine and sneaky kisses during slow scenes or scenes with kissing :)

Clockwork/Vlad Masters: Hiking, as surprising as that might be. Clockwork enjoys his time away from the tower and Vlad enjoys Clockwork's commentary about wherever it is they are hiking.

Clockwork/Dan: Clockwork takes comfort from Dan watching his back as he watches time, not that he isn't also watching his own back but it's nice to know someone has it.

Bill Cipher/Dipper Pines: They also like hiking much to Bill's surprise. Taking out picnics and just taking in nature. Nothing will bother them after all.

Marinette/Felix: While Felix cannot bake to save his life he enjoys watching Marinette do so and she likes watching him cook. She can cook and they trade recipes here and there.

Marinette/Gabriel: They avoid fashion like the plague unless it's to make fun of costumes in movies. Because both know too much about fashion and the topic has gotten somewhat stale for them. Not to say that sometimes they mention something the other hadn't thought of.

Dracula/Johnny: Watching a sunrise until Drac can't anymore.

Three ships:

- I am a huge Star Wars fan and adore the forever problematic Padme/Anakin. Yes, their story starts questionably, yes it ends tragically, but man do I love everything in the middle.

- Astarion/Tav. This feels like a cop out because all Tavs are OCs, but I just adore non-ascended Astarion’s romance storyline and the complexity of it. I really think their relationship is a beautiful but raw representation of real life people.

- I don’t have any other die hard ships but I am a casual fan of: Shadowheart/Laezel from BG3, Steve/Danny from Hawaii Five-0, and House/Wilson from House MD (plus loads of others I am forgetting).

- I was also a hugeee Captain Cold/Flash shipper when I was a teen but I’ll leave that in my shame bin for now.

Last film:

Red, White and Royal Blue. Absolutely loved it! Would definitely watch again!

Currently watching:

The final season of House MD! Started it last year and fell in love! Also need to finish watching Ahsoka, and the new season of Great British Bake Off!

Currently reading:

Honestly, fan fiction. My ADHD is a pain for books (and movies for that matter) but I have been loving anything written by @justporo and @the-littlest-raindrop !

Currently consuming:

Anything Baldur’s Gate - the art, the fics, the TikToks, the community interaction, the game itself. I have not hyperfixated this hard in forever and I am very much enjoying it!

Did anyone else forget that Ahsoka was on the living room couch for all of the events of last chapter? Me too!

I was really on the fence about tagging this 'adultery' or 'infidelity'. Maybe Anakin's okay with brushing it off, but it's still a fairly major plot point. I eventually decided not to, because when I think of an infidelity fic I think of a lot more things than this gets in to - secret meetings and hotel rooms and late-night phone calls - and I didn't want someone to start this expecting that, and then get a chapter and a half of Obi-Wan having an internal crisis only to never mention it again. But elements of it are there.

I know I'm a broken record by this point but "What I needed, he gave me, great," is from As Good As It Gets - Melvin insults Carol's dress at dinner and she goes back to the hotel and announces she's going to share a room with Simon now, because she doesn't want to talk to Melvin. And Simon gets so inspired watching her take a bath that he needs to draw her, and they stay up all night together, which of course makes Melvin insanely jealous. When she tries to explain it to him, she says, "It was better than sex! We held each other!"

Anakin was getting just a little *too* emotionally competent in this scene. He needed to fake-call out of work to remind us he's still Anakin Skywalker.

It's certainly less expensive than Disneyland, but every time I go to the zoo (admittedly not that often) I'm always re-surprised by how much it costs. Like, my brain is stuck on 'the zoo costs $5' and will not get off it, no matter what current evidence to the contrary.

Someone saying "it was time" in response to someone else remarking that they'd taken off a personally meaningful piece of jewelry is a nod to Casino Royale; it's what Vesper said in regards to her Algerian love knot necklace her boyfriend had given her.

Obi-Wan's line about love not always being enough always makes me think of that story about the (mostly teenaged) focus group for the movie Castaway, who all gave it a really low grade, and when the staff asked why, they said they didn't understand the ending - Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt clearly still love each other, so why aren't they together? Whereas the adults are like, yeah, that's just life, baby.

At this point, the twins are supposed be about sixteen months old, so I hope this is a realistic amount of talking for them to be doing.

Obi-Wan putting on his glasses before bed is a holdover from an earlier version of this story, when he had way worse eyesight and got contacts. I left it in even though now he only has reading glasses. He was...used to putting them on before bed, because he reads in bed, but did it out of habit even though Anakin wants to use that time to have an emotional heart-to-heart instead. (And definitely not just because I forgot to edit it out.)

"There is more than a bit of a conflict of interest in you giving me advice about my love life" is straight out of Ocean's 11, albeit said the other way around (Tess accusing her ex-husband Danny of not liking her new boyfriend Terry Benedict). Part of me would *love* to write an Obikin Ocean's 11 someday.

I've said this before - maybe I have too many overarching themes for this story - but one of my overarching themes is, people are who they are. Can a person choose to change, with a lot of concerted effort? Sure. But 'I can fix him' doesn't actually work.

2023 ANNUAL FAVORITES

Hello! Welcome back to my annual year-end list of favorite things. I think it was actually a really strong year for new movies, music, and games, so I'm going to get to the point fairly quickly here. It was a year where I was lucky to have a good amount of time to take in new media, and I am thankful for that. Here's what I enjoyed most!

As always, any media that was widely released in the calendar year 2023 (that I personally consumed within the calendar year 2023) was eligible. This was ranked on January 1st, 2024, and remains unchanged since then (no matter what I end up thinking about it in the future.)

Favorite Films

I watched 105 movies that were widely released in 2023 this year, up from 96 in 2022. 67 of those were in a movie theater, up from 40 last year. Actually, streaming movies slipped through the cracks more this year, as I prioritized watching films in one sitting instead of in chunks during my commute to work.

It was pretty difficult to make a top twenty-five list this year, least of all to cull it down to ten, so it is with apologies to everything else that I present my favorites. By the way, if you'd like to hear me talk about these movies, give Cinema Bums a listen.

Oh man, poor Maul, he is absolutely, 100% correct. Everyone has so much faith in Anakin, Ahsoka has so much faith in him still. Faith that he utterly betrays literal hours from now, and they don’t believe he possibly could.

Hells, Obi-Wan is right now telling him how proud he is of him, and he’s like twelve hours out from slaughtering children.

But honestly, that Dooku is already dead means Anakin’s already Fallen, he just hasn’t sworn himself to the Sith Lord yet.

None of this would have prevented Sidious and his Empire, though, not at this point. It’s just too late.

I’m having so many emotions.

this is a random ass post but

the force awakens came out in 2015. you know damn well danny messer took one look at his 6 year old daughter and was like 

“it is time”

and made that child watch all six star wars movies only to find out that lucy had seen all five aired seasons of the clone wars and was current with what had been aired of rebels. she knew about the current state of star wars canon than he did. she totally kept asking where ahsoka was. 

he totally recorded the moment in empire where vader tells luke he’s his father. for purposes.

afterwards she asks for leia braids and danny watches the cartoons. lucy is way more accepting of the sequels than danny is but he does think it’s boss he gets to be luke skywalker for halloween and lucy dresses up as rey.

you just know when the mandalorian came out ten year old lucy and her six year old brother demanded all things baby yoda. 

sorry not sorry. star wars one of the things my dad and i bonded over so it hold a really fond place in my heart. i just really like to think danny is a good dad and he and lucy bond over it. 

lindsay is a fan too but she keeps her opinions to her goddamn self though. danny’s face when she lusts after ewan mcgregor is probably worth it though for whatever it is worth you know danny really, really wants lindsay to wear the slave girl leia costume, you know, for science.

doctor sleep anon!! okay i didn’t expect a response but ok here’s my thoughts

-obi wan being found around 7 instead of three and basically the shinning is his childhood, everything from his alcoholic father, to the twins, to all the monsters who haunt him.

-obi wan meets dick (can be dex if u want) who teaches him how to lock the monsters away with his mind, kinda makes it easier for him being a force sensitive.

-the jedi find him, take him in, his mom saying goodbye (maybe something anakin and him can relate to if u want) and no one wants a traumatized padawan until dex teaches him how to trap the monsters in the boxes in his head. then he gets better slowly then he becomes Qui-gons padawan.

-Rose the hat and her clan can be interpreted as the sith if it makes things easier. could be interesting that obi wans ppl fell to the hands of the sith. and could be a huge point when danny is given the choice to drink and doesn’t many times in the movie to obi not falling to the dark side

-years go by and obi still traps monsters that haunt his mind in the boxes

-everything in tpm happens.

-until ahsoka shows up and Plo realizes she has special force powers and is assigned to anakin.

i’m trying not to give too much of the movie away. last i saw it was streaming on HBO but i can’t seem to find it. it’s not too scary (that’s coming from a scardy cat who only saw it during the day)

but instead of Abra is replaced by either anakin or ahsoka, i think it would be cool with Ahsoka.

tho i’m not sure where obikin could start. maybe after his knighting and he gets anakin and he slowly starts to heal. maybe include Danny’s alcohol problem…

anyways i hope this made sense.

oh hell yeah this is so detailed and amazing <3 thank you for typing it all out i really wish i had more to add but i definitely put dr. sleep on my list of movies to watch because it sounds super cool !!!!

this is great tho!!!! i also think it'd be cool with ahsoka instead of anakin just to give anakin a break <3 and it's a little bit less expected you know?
