This is a movie I found thanks to Letterboxd when searching for horror from 1942. Based on a lesser talked about Gaston Leroux novel of Balaoo. We get an interesting blend of mad scientist, ape and murder mystery. I'd go as far as calling this as a hidden gem. Have you heard of this movie? My thoughts are up on @davidosu87’s blog or the link below: Review: https://horrorreview.webnode.page/news/dr-renaults-secret/ #drrenaultssecret #ape #basedon #novel #gastonleroux #madscientist #mystery #romance #scifi #horror #horrormovie #horrormovies #horrorfilm #horrorfilms #horrorfan #horrorfans #horrorreview #horrorreviews #horrorreviewer #filmreview #filmreviews #filmreviewer #nothorror #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #hashtag https://www.instagram.com/p/CnMp8lnu53w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Dr. Renault’s Secret is a 1942 American horror film directed by Harry Lachman from a screenplay by William Bruckner and Robert F. Metzler. It is based on the story Balaoo by Gaston Leroux (author of The Phantom of the Opera) which was adapted as a film in 1913 and again as the 1927 “lost” film The Wizard. The 20th Century Fox production stars J. Carrol Naish (The Monster Maker), Shepperd…

Renault 17TS, 1974. The 17 and cheaper but closely related 15 were Renault’s first mass produced front engined coupés of the modern era. Designed by Renault’s design chief Gaston Juchet, they were based on the platform of the Renault 12 saloon but the 17 used the larger 1.6 litre engine from the Renault 16 in fuel injected form

PROJETO X-29: O PRECURSOR DO RENAULT 25
Tumblr media
Tumblr media

* 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 — Talk about Quiri and muggle literature ! Who is his fav author, etc? , @lamentedhope
Tumblr media
GOD babey quiri was super into oscar wilde i can safely say this . he also loves high fantasy . he’s always been a HUGE SUCKER for the classics , but if he had to pick a genre outside of that , he’s ... a sci-fi geek & he’s super into thrillers & the likes . he has a copy of the war of the worlds which ... he has ... taped together so many times from how much he read it ( now , why didn’t he just magically repair it ? because he wants everyone to know how much he loves it ) . he also loves history , so he also has some very well loved mary renaults on his shelf ( & he will recommend fire from heaven & the persian boy to basically anyone who asks ) .
if someone asked him for book recommendations ,  he’d definitely say ( in no particular order )
war & peace - leo tolstoy
strange case of dr. jekyll & mr. hyde - robert louis stevenson
frankenstein - mary shelly
fire from heaven & the persian boy - mary renault
clan of the cave bear - jean m. auel ( mind you , this book came out when quiri was 10 , his father got him a copy as a gift for his trip on the hogwarts express ! )
war of the worlds - h. g. wells
the count of monte cristo - alexandre dumas
le fantome de l’opera - gaston leroux , preferably in its original form , because many translations cut out a lot , but if you can’t read in french then uh . still , it’s a great story .
anything by tolkien
the entire narnia series , sit & read all of them in a big marathon !
le morte d’arthur - thomas malory
paradise lost - john milton ( now , this is actually an epic poem , but you know what he counts it for sure as a must read ! )
quiri shows he’s an intellectual by the books he recommends , which sometimes can come across as pretentious , but hey . he just loves reading & honestly he loves that muggles can just write things , y’know !
