I absolutely adore the new Impmon line. Apparently so much so I wrote a wall of text gushing about it, but I'll put that under the cut to spare those who don't care's dash.

Where do I start, there's so much to love about this gift. The punk and reptilian ascetic blends perfectly into Beelzemon with his biker look and his lizard tail/claws so if you didn't want to go with the Megidramon mega you can swap in Beelzemon just fine. I honestly like it better thematically than the Wizardmon -> Baalmon line, (even though Baalmon is cooler aesthetically) it always bothered me that Wizardmon felt tacked on and slightly out of place since it wasn't a virus. I know the X antibody forms helped fold them together more design wise, and they're an awesome line, but that still doesn't fix the non-x line for me... not that all digimon need a clean and clear through line persay, but you know.

I've seen people call it "Just a recolor" and I feel like it's so much more than that. I've always liked the regional variants in Pokémon becuase they breathe new life into old designs while still making a unique feeling creature. It's the same principle here.

And while it's sad we didn't get a full canon Beelstarmon line, I like this so much more. And I feel like Impmon -> Witchmon -> LadyDevimon already fits Beelstarmon just as much as Wizardmon/Baalmon fits Beelzemon, so I don't really feel the need for a full new Fem line for Beelstarmon.

And the connections to Guilmom are just... chef's kiss. People have pointed out that Guilmon has a good sorcer line with FlareWizardmon -> Mistymon -> MedievalDukemon that matches up well with Impmon's Wizardmon line so Impmon getting a reptilian line to match up with Guilmon is just so cool. And it makes it all the cooler that Impmon was originally going to be Takato's partner, apparently.

I feel like I'm rambling, I just wanted to gush about the Punk Growlmon. After years of the Impmon line feeling rocky and incomplete on some levels, I feel like all is finally right with the world and my ocd with its line can finally rest. I don't like remembering the dark days where the best line we had was Meramon -> Skull/DeathMeramon -> Beelzemon. It gives me war flashbacks.

Now I need a Galletmon/Dukemon and Beelzemon jogress. Give it to me Bandai.

Can you see the Guilmon in the last panel?

I'll never forget the panic I felt when I got a Dorumon. I wasn't really partial to it at the time because I was a big die-hard Dukemon fan and had my heart set on the outcome. But c'est la vie, right?

In hindsight, I think the only way you can actually get Dorumon is if you clear the X-Antibody Scenario in Mt. Infinity, but I could be mistaking it for the Alphamon evolution condition.

But that's important to note, anyhoo.

But a fun fact about Aster's name. While it's true that he's named after the keyboard symbol, the convention is based off of Cave Story. The characters are named "Quote" and "Curly Brace", like ["] and {} respectively.

Aside from that, shortening it to aster was a bonus of being a flower name (like mine), and also meaning "little star".

Little did I know that an asterisk is commonly used as a wildcard character.

An indulgent mega man zero + digimon AU.

The partnerships are:

Ciel + Zero (Guilmon X)

I didn't draw her with goggles here, but she has them. She uses a visor while researching "digital phenomena."

Unlike the regular Guilmon line, Guilmon Xs' digital hazards are sealed thanks to the X-antibody.

Elpizo + X (Patamon)

Elpizo pushes X to digivolve and become more powerful, while X tries to get him to calm down.

Neige + Craft (Grapleomon) are a different kind of partners.

Neige's a journalist chasing rumours of a secret government division. She's also looking for her old friend--though she can't remember his name or what he looks like. Meanwhile, Craft wants her to stay far away from what he's up to.

More long, rambly (subject to change) plot stuff under the cut:

The secret government division (basically a cross of DATS and Hypnos) has been researching the 'chosen child' phenomena. Wouldn't it be useful, to harness the ability to control powerful monsters? Particularly if you wanted to exterminate this parallel world full of walking nukes, thinks Director Weil.

Ciel either knows exactly what's happening or has men in black style amnesia to stop her from forming a resistance too early. In both options she has a creeping sense of dread/guilt that she's done something terrible and left someone behind.

Zero definitely has amnesia. Ciel first finds him as a hurt Gigimon, plopped out of her computer when she wishes to be stronger to protect others.

Arc 1: Involves Ciel and Zero getting used to a partnership as monsters start appearing in Arcadia city

Half of these encounters are solved without violence. Most digimon are fleeing to the human world for safety--only some elites are seeking to harm humans. Ciel ends up creating a network of digimon in hiding.

T.K. Thoreewon (but much prefers 'Elpizo') is Ciel's lancer, and he's far more ruthless than her. He doesn't have a digimon partner though, despite how he wants to help out in battles.

Occasionally after each battle they catch glimpses of a flickering angel, who repeats the message "stop me."

They eventually do, tracking down the vengeful Holyangemon who's been driving digimon to flee the digital world to escape his reign.

Curiously, Holyangemon (previously Seraphimon X) was once known for his peaceful policies and caring nature. He was one of the few leaders left after a nightmareish red dragon tore apart the world. But citizens whisper he changed after he left for the final battle to seal away that dragon--not just that he lost his X-antibody and dropped down a level. However, no one saw the old human escaping the scene that day when his monster was defeated.

Ciel, meanwhile, has a terrible sense of recognition when she sees Holyangemon's control ring.

Arc 2 involves investigating cases of missing digimon. Ciel has a theory it's humans--though others report a lion general doing the dirty work. At the same time, Elpizo's new partner Patamon rings deja vu...

Happy 26th anniversary to the release of the Digital Monster ver 1 V-pet, and to the Digimon franchise as a whole. This series has meant so much to me since I was a kid, and it has been there for me through a lot of ups and downs in my life.

To commemorate this anniversary it was only appropriate to make a countdown of some of my favorite Digimon related things:

Top 26 favorite Digimon (at this exact moment in time; this list could look very different next week):

26. Tukaimon:

Yes, a recolor, but I've always thought Tukaimon was cooler than Patamon. I'm a sucker for a nice evil version of a classic Digimon, and Tukaimon just has such a cool color scheme in my opinion. Definitely a Digimon that I wish had more of a prominent place in the franchise.

25. Wizarmon

A classic, iconic Digimon who has the iconic death in the anime's history. Wizarmon has such an amazing design, and his sacrifice in Digimon Adventure is a scene that I rewatch time and time again and always tear up. Even outside of the anime, Wizarmon has always been super cool, and the Witchelny is such a neat setting that I hope to see explored more in the future.

24. Mienumon

Probably my favorite overall design from Appmon, Mienumon was such an iconic villain in that series, and it was such a shame that she didn't stick around longer. I really like the design, and I hope that when we eventually see the Appmon integrated more fully with the rest of the franchise in future games that Mienumon makes her triumphant return.

23. Culumon

The cutest Digimon ever. Culumon was such a delightful presence in Digimon Tamers, and a digimon who I always want to see show up again even if it doesn't always make sense. We can make it work, just have the Digi-Entelechy show up again for some reason.

22. Jellymon

Jellymon-sama was one of the best parts of Digimon Survive, and a really strong new Digimon design. I love pretty much the whole look, and it's such an inspired way to make a jellyfish based Digimon really work.

21. Ogremon

A classic design that I don't think I need to say much more about. Ogremon has been a presence in Digimon since the earliest days of the franchise, and was really cool in the original Digimon Adventure. I'm happy that they're a Digimon that shows up so frequently, because they really are awesome.

20. Ranamon

Without a doubt the best of Digimon Frontier's villains, and just a really cute design. It's a real shame that we have not seen her make much in the way of appearances in recent years, and I hope that eventually changes.

19. Impmon

A nice simple design, and a great role in Digimon Tamers. Impmon really straddles the line between cute and cool a lot, and is a nice representation of mischievous type Digimon, who are one of the kinds that I really like.

18. Craniummon

Craniummon has a super cool design, and I loved how they were portrayed in Digimon Savers. They felt like the most dynamic of the Royal Knights in that series to me, and I'm always happy when they get to play a role in the story of a Digimon thing. I especially love the color scheme, and just look at Claiomh Solais. That thing is so cool.

17. DORUmon

One of the cutest Digimon, and one of the best representatives of the X-Antibody line in general, which is an era of Digimon that I feel is criminally overlooked. DORUmon was an excellent protagonist for the X-Evolution movie, and remains among my favorite Digimon to get in new games.

16. Fairimon

A nice and stylish design, and the best Digimon in Digimon Frontier. It is such a shame that Fairimon, just like everyone aside from Takuya and Kouji, was criminally underused in the second half. Also a special shoutout to Shutumon who also has a really awesome design.

15. Guilmon

Is there anything more I even need to say about Guilmon. He's one of the most popular Digimon of all time for a reason, and when you combine being the protagonist Digimon of the best anime and having such a cool design, it's easy to see why.

14. Imperialdramon Dragon Mode

I have so much nostalgia for downloading the clip of Paildramon first evolving into Imperialdramon around Christmas in 2000, so Imperialdramon has always held a special place in my heart. While the Fighter Mode and Paladin Mode are both cool, there's something just really special about the original Dragon Mode, especially because it's not the type of design we usually see for the main character's partner

13. Gazimon

Probably one of the oddest inclusions on my list, but when I was a kid, Gazimon was my absolute favorite Digimon (perhaps the color purple has always been something I like in Digimon designs looking over a lot of the Digimon on this list). While it no longer occupies that place, it still has a strong place in my heart, and I'm always happy when I see Gazimon.

12. Shoutmon X7

An amazing design, and an amazing insert song that always plays. I quite enjoyed Digimon Xros Wars as a series, and X7 was a great Digimon to build up to as you saw all of the protagonist Digimon coming together to form a champion for them all.

11. Renamon

Cool and elegant. There's not much more to say about Renamon. I feel like if you even remotely know what Digimon is, you know about Renamon.

10. Dark Knightmon

A villain so iconic that he has been brought back multiple times already, which is pretty rare for Digimon of that era. A super cool design, and a big part of why Xros Wars was so good. Please put him in the next Story game so I can play as him.

9. Bancho Lilimon

Criminally underused, and such a cool design. I would love for her to become the default Ultimate for Lilimon instead of Rosemon, not that I don't like Rosemon a lot. Honestly, her whole design is goals.

8. Lopmon

Definitely the cuter of the two siblings. I just love Lopmon's design so much; they're just so precious. I also think the extra horns work really well on their design. I don't want to knock on Terriermon, who is still neat, but Lopmon is just an incredible Digimon design.

7. Lilithmon

Beautiful and stylish. Lilithmon has always been a favorite of mine, so I was really excited when she showed up in Xros Wars and had a big role.

6. Bancho Leomon

One of the coolest Digimon designs of all time. We've had a lot of Leomon variants over the years, but none of them even approach Bancho Leomon's aesthetic. I loved his role in Digimon Savers, and I just love everything about this Digimon.

5. Vamdemon

The iconic Digimon villain. There's a reason almost every Adventure sequel has found some way to cram Vamdemon in in some fashion. He's just such an iconic and menacing villain, and his design is both spooky and stylish. I just love that cape.

4. Alphamon

A super cool member of the Royal Knights with an amazing cape and a great design. Alphamon has a fairly different color scheme for a protagonist Digimon, which is quite refreshing.

3. Dukemon

The best of the Royal Knights without a doubt. The design and weapons are both great, and Masako Nozawa has done such a great job making Dukemon sound cool across multiple different incarnations, although obviously Tamers is the biggest one. The Dukemon vs Beelzebumon fight is one of my favorite moments in any Digimon anime.

2. Beelzebumon Blast Mode

And speaking of Beelzebumon, I have to really shout out Blast Mode. Beelzebumon is super cool on his own, and would have probably made the list if I was okay with having two different modes of the same Digimon both on the list, but Blast Mode takes the design even further. Without a doubt the coolest Digimon in existence.

Lilimon

Lilimon is the cutest Digimon of all time, and my personal favorite Digimon. I love her design so much, and she's been such an inspiration to me over the years. Even though she's cute, she's also a fierce fighter, and my now and forever favorite Digimon.

If there were to be a visual novel fleshing out Tamers 2018 into a full story, with Ruki as the protagonist for obvious reasons, how many routes would you prefer it to have?

If you've never played a visual novel before, a route is a single coherent branch of story. A route may have multiple endings but the body of the plot must remain the same.

For reference, FSN and FMDM have three, Tsukihime has five, and Umineko and Mahoyo have one.

Uffff, this is quite a hard question for me; mostly because I don't really want to see new Tamers content and for it to become the next "adventure nostalgia sells" or a new "tri." (overall if K*naka is involved in any way) but oh well, that ain't stopping us fans from doing "fan stuff" right? So, if we ignore my complex feelings over new Tamers content, I can freely think on things :3

As someone who is obsessed with Digimon Survive, I find the 4 routes formula to be neat (plus the bad end which is just "game over" so, that makes it 5?) but I would also love to have at least 2 extra routes (for survive, I would love to see a different kid getting killed by part 5) so, following my taste in plots I think 5 routes would be ok, considering I don't really know what kind of trouble/adventure we could get.

BUT, since we are already here, I'd like to indeed take the 2018 CD drama in consideration and for the story to be about Ruki going to look for Renamon and maybe unveil the mystery behind Takato's disappearance plus, for the sake of "evolution" progress and fights, we could have Renamon soon in the story just to find there are awful things going on in the Digital World and only Ruki can save them all, how about that? (And since I'm gay af, let me have the prologue with Ruki comforting Juri over Takato's absence).

Look, I'm just making this up as I'm typing here so take it with a grain of salt (in if I can make content about this or nah xD).

The Good True end would be saving Takato and the Digital World plus having a convenient gate for the Digis to live happily with their tamers again (like Adv02).

The Good end would be saving Takato and the Digital World but they have to say bye again to their Digis to have angst (ง ื▿ ื)ว

The Neutral end would be Saving the Digital World but Takato (or Renamon) dies :3c

The Alright end would be saving Takato (and Renamon) but dissaster falls upon the Digital World and later, the Real World, idk

And the Bad end is everyone dies, even Ruki XDD. Ok, maybe no but it would be interesting if everyone but Ruki is saved like, Ruki dies saving everyone.

Plus, if we follow Survive formula, we can have the option of the bad end in which Ruki decides saving the world is too much of a pain and goes back home without Renamon, ending in everyone dying anyway :3.

Don't ask me about what kind of enemy they would be fighting because my Royal Knights, Yggdrasil and Olympus XII biases would play a heavy role here so I don't want to think on anything right now, but it would be interesting to be something like in X-evolution in which Digis are killed either by the RK or the X program (but to not go with my biases, we will have to think on something else instead of the RK, Yggdrasil and X antibody).

Maybe we can have the rest of the Tamers cast to join in later in the story so we don't ignore them (ง ื▿ ื)ว

And since I already drew a fakemon evo for Miyuki's Sakuyamon, it would be neat for Ruki to have that one too :D

So guys, who or what would you want to see as enemy for Ruki and Renamon? I would also like a little "wink" at IceDevimon returning (and don't tell me that's impossible because Guilmon ate him because I know) but I don't want him to be that final boss.

Bnha X Digimon CrossOver

As was decided by the Poll I am going to talk about my Digimon Au.

This is Izuku partner Leonomon and his Digivice.

Leonomon is a Child(Rookie) Stage, Beast type, and Vaccine Attribute Digimon, he also is a natural carrier of the X-Antibody. Leonomon has been created only recently thanks to the power of the Digimental of Miracles analyzing Izuku's Digimon/Guardian notebooks and using data of the previous users of the digimental to create Him. Leonomon resembles a Lion Digimon beacasue of Izuku's Admiration for All Might ans his Partner Leomon.Leonomon Special Move is called "Typhon Punch".

World

In this world Majority of the population has a Digivice and 80% of the population was a Digimon Partner.

Guardians are the protectors of this world that use their partner Digimon to fight Criminals and malicious Digimon.

Guardians normally are equipped with weapons to fight with their Digimon Partners. They infuse their weapons with Digital Aura to power up their attacks or give them a random effect.

Digital Aura is very similar to Digisoul or D.N.A. from "Digimon Savers". This is a power originating from a Human Soul, emotions, and also the Bond between humans and Digimon. It manifests differently and has different effects depending on the Human and Digimon Partner.

Digital Aura can be used to Charge the Digivice to induce Digivolution. But with the major change that to reach an Ultimate(Mega), Super Ultimate(Ultra), Armor, or Hybrid Digimon the process recalls the power of Biomerge between Digimon and Human partner.

Backstory

Izuku is an unfortunate kid that was infected with Program X at a young age, making it impossible of having a Digimon Partner. but that never stopped Izuku from dreaming of some Day Having a Digimon partner. He Scherachd Every book and article on the net to find a way to have a Digimon partner, He trained his body in hopes of becoming a Guardian, and he resisted the relentless bullying of his peers and his former Best Freind. Unknowing to him his body was starting to produce antibodies to the Program. One day when he was returning home Izuku was attacked by a Raremon and saved by His idol All Might and its partner Leomon. But the phrase Never "meet your heroes" would be applied to this situation when Izuku asked them if there was a way for him to ever be a guardian without a partner, they quickly respond to him that being a Guardian without a Digimon Partner was a Death Wish and he should probably give up. Izuku desolated and continued on his route home when he sees his ex-Bestfreind Kastuki and his partner being swallowed by Raremon. Izuku without thinking leaped to help Kasutki and Guilmon. A literal miracle Happens when the Digimental of Miracles appears in Izuku'd Digivice and Uses Izuku and its Data Biomerge into Magnamon X for a Biffre moment to Defeat Raremon. Izuku, Kastuki, and Guilmon don't really remember this because of the shock and the only people that know are All Might and Leomon. After the incident, the Digimental of Miracles disappears from Iuzku's Digivice Leaving a Digitama, where Leonomon will hatch.

Idea Journal: Digimon MMORPG

Wouldn't it be cool to have a Digimon online RPG that makes use of all the null canon Digital World lore (from the Digimon Reference Book and other sources related to the Virtual Pets, like the Folder Continent Report and Digimon Chronicle/Digimon Chronicle X)? This is my take on what it could look like.

Digimon Partners

You start the game by choosing one of the five factions from the original Pendulum (except Virus Busters), each of which gives you a different starter Digimon:

Nature Spirits: Elecmon > Leomon > GrappLeomon > SaberLeomon

Deep Savers: Betamon > Seadramon > MegaSeadramon > MetalSeadramon

Nightmare Soldiers: Candmon > Meramon > DeathMeramon > Boltmon

Wind Guardians: Mushmon > Woodmon > Jyureimon > Pinocchimon

Metal Empire: Hagurumon > Guardromon > Andromon > HiAndromon

Some boss Digimon also drop Digitama when defeated, which can be hatched into the Child form of that boss. Other Digitama can be acquired by completing specific quests.

Areas

Folder Continent: The main hub of the game, split into different subregions for each faction, like in the Pendulum Z. Bosses: Royal Knights, including Omegamon (drops Agumon or Gabumon Digitama), UlforceVeedramon (drops Veemon Digitama), Dukemon (drops Guilmon Digitama), Sleipmon (drops Kudamon Digitama), Examon (drops Dracomon Digitama), JESmon (drops Hackmon Digitama)

Net Ocean: Underwater area, reached via the Deep Savers subregion. The deepest part is the Dark Web, which connects to the Dark Area. Boss: Leviamon

Kernel: Reached via the Virus Busters subregion, inhabited by angel Digimon that serve Yggdrasil. Bosses: Seraphimon (drops Patamon Digitama), Ophanimon (drops Plotmon Digitama), Cherubimon (drops Lopmon Digitama)

Guilmon!!!!

Guilmon is the “main” Child-level digimon of Digimon Tamers, essentially being the third-generation Agumon (insofar as Digimon even has generations). Unlike most traditionally hero-aligned digimon, Guilmon is actually a Virus-attribute digimon rather than Vaccine- or Data-attribute, meaning that its nature generally leans more destructive than protective. This is actually a rather unique quality for a heroic digimon to have, and it fits Guilmon’s more ferocious-looking design.

Its destructive potential is also indicated by the symbol on its chest, known as the “Digital Hazard”. A small number of other digimon have this symbol, most of them part of Guilmon’s evolutionary line. It marks digimon with the “potential to cause massive damage to computer data” – though it’s also stated that if the ability is used peacefully, Guilmon can probably be someone that helps protect the Digital World. “Probably”. The Digital Hazard thing mostly just foreshadows its potential evolution into Megidramon, an immensely evil Ultimate-level dragon digimon, since Guilmon really doesn’t seem to have that much destructive potential in itself.

As a whole, Guilmon’s design is pretty great in general. Like Renamon, it’s a bit bigger and more detailed than most Child-level digimon, though this works quite well given its anime backstory. In Digimon Tamers, Digimon is an actual in-series franchise, complete with its own card game. Within this context, Guilmon started out as a fan-created digimon design by Matsuda Takato, that was later brought to life when his design was scanned through his card reader. Much of his concept reflects this origin, including his Virus-attribute, as Takato intended him to have a ferocious fighting style. After becoming real, Takato and Guilmon then became partners, and….lots of stuff happened. Personality-wise, Guilmon was notably child-like, friendly, and naive despite his Virus-attribute.

Like most major mascot-type digimon, Guilmon has a black recolour, though it feels conceptually redundant given black recolours are usually Virus-attribute variants and Guilmon is Virus-attribute to begin with. Its wild, Virus-y nature is said to show more strongly than in regular Guilmon, but other than that they seem pretty much identical. I will concede the black-with-red-markings look does at least look pretty rad. Guilmon’s evolutions also have orange Data-attribute recolours, though for whatever reason Guilmon itself doesn’t.

Guilmon also has an X-Antibody form, with the most notable change being the absence of the Digital Hazard symbol. This is because it apparently accepted and contained its power within its body, which I guess is pretty neat conceptually – usually X-Antibodies just add traits, not remove them. Its instincts as a Virus-attribute are also increased, making it more aggressive and also making Black Guilmon even more redundant. But yeah, cool design, very sleek.

Overall, I’m quite fond of Guilmon, and it’s probably one of my favourites of the lizard-dinosaur-dragon Digimon mascots. Its design and concept is a lot more distinctive than most, and it feels like a fair bit more thought went into it. The concept of it being created by a fan in-universe is also very cool, and it definitely gives off a certain original-the-character vibe in the best possible way.
