I think it's so funny that Rodimus doesn't get a profile at the end of Transformers: Historia when Arcee, Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and Windblade do. He's the main character of one of the major series and he doesn't get a profile but Megtaron does. I'm pretty sure that it is because they lifted the bios from the Hasbro Heroes sourcebook, which didn't care for Mtmte/LL because it was more Hasbroverse. But Megatron still has a profile in that. God, Rodimus would be furious.

The (Unofficial) Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook Extended - an all-new fan project!
Tumblr media
If you’ll recall, last year, IDW Publishing released the Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook, a guidebook featuring characters from across the newly-minted Hasbro Universe. Over three individual issues, 81 characters from Transformers, G.I. Joe, Micronauts, ROM, Action Man, and M.A.S.K. were given profiles that recapped their known history and revealed previously unknown details about their lives.
But come on, there’s a LOT more than 81 characters in the Hasbro Universe. That’s why we created the Sourcebook Extended, an ongoing project that seeks to celebrate, explore, and expand the Hasbro Universe by giving new, original profiles to every single character that has appeared in this universe (and even some that haven’t.)
In addition, we also want to use this as a vehicle for storytelling, so each issue will include original fan comics and prose stories that expand on the mythology of the IDW Universe in ways the normal comics wouldn’t be able to. Sometimes they’ll be action-oriented romps, sometimes they’ll be quiet character pieces.
And best of all, this book is entirely the work of YOU, the Allspark community!
To read our first issue, click below to download the PDF or CBZ files:
Get the PDF version here! Get the CBZ version here! View it on Issu here!
And be sure to check out our thread in the Allspark Forums to find out how you can be a part of crafting the next issue of the Unofficial Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook Extended!

The Trash Jet Trio
(...also, what the hell kinda metal is Starscream made of so that he’s 2ft shorter than both Skywarp and TC but also over twice as heavy as them? According to this he’s the same weight as Optimus Prime. I’m guessing that this is a mistake or someone’s been eating their feelings because that’s totally how robots work.)

I have a lot of thoughts on Starscream’s ‘True-form.’ Some good and some less so but for this post I really just want to analyze the differences between Starscream’s usual design versus the appearance of his ‘true-form.’
Tumblr media
In Starscream’s true form his primary color is blue, which is already a huge difference.  On Starscream's normal design the color that appears the most is actually white. But let’s hold off on the comparisons and just take a look at the designs as two separate beings. Blue is generally perceived as a calm, gentle color linked to freedom, intuition, imagination, sensitivity and other such things. The red comes in as a daring flash of accent color and the white softens the blue-red combo while also maintaining the overall vibrant color scheme. Starscream’s eyes are, interestingly enough, purple here. This could be because red and blue are already such primary colors in this design that mixing the two shades for his eyes makes for a pleasing aesthetic. That said, purple is kinda weird to use since purple eyes have been used to imply  that something is wrong in the past, such as when Megatron was under the influence of dark energon. One thing that’s really interesting about this design is that something about it looks incredibly gentle. This version of Starscream looks almost cuddly, like a gentle giant or something. He also looks more mellow. Both of these could be the effects of having blue as his main color unlike the normal Starscream design.
Tumblr media
Normal Starscream is primarily white which is hilarious because white implies innocence, purity, cleanliness and simplicity. The white does serve to make the red on Starscream, which is his secondary color, really pop. It’s rather interesting to note that blue really only appears on his limbs while red is shown to be largely on his upper body. This could, amusingly enough, serve to draw the eye upward and towards his face. This design also features yellow and black, largely as highlights but including these two colors also make this design more eye-catching. This design looks less cuddly than his true form. This could be due to the fact that blue is less of a primary color in this design. It could also be due to the fact that, despite it’s sweet meanings, white can be a very harsh color. Too much of it and it overpowers the other shades. It needs bright colors to help combat it.
Tumblr media
Alright, comparison time. Both designs are incredibly flashy but what can you really say, this is Starscream after all. Seeing the two close together brings some design elements to light. The true form has a darker faceplate with a brownish dark grey color to it. Original ‘Screamer has a paler faceplate, in fact it almost looks white in some images. One could say that, of the two, normal Starscream has a brighter, more upbeat color scheme. His true-forms colors, while still bright, come together for a darker design. This is possibly due to blue being the primary color rather than white.  In the image above the true form almost looks ominous, but that’s largely due to the fact he’s looming up behind regular Starscream. This does lead me to one of my main questions regarding the design of Starscream’s true form. Why is it so big?
Tumblr media
Windblade is shown to be just slightly shorter than Starscream. According to Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook #3 and tfwiki, Windblade is 26 ft. tall. So Starscream’s height would be close to that. But let’s look at her next to his true form.
Tumblr media
She barely even comes up to his ankle! I mean I guess his size could be a reference to what an important plot point he is sometimes but still. This is just ridiculous. He’s like a mini-titan in his true form. It’s even weirder when you think about how none of the seekers ever shown are this big. This could be due to them being cold-constructed as well. But that would imply that all the seekers are supposed to be massive.
Since Windblade is the one that forged this Starscream you could argue this is how she views him. But that causes all sorts of other questions to pop up. I really don’t want to get into arguing the reasoning behind his true-form since I haven’t actually read the issue it appears in and have been running off info from the tfwiki and tumblr posts. But to be honest, I have several questions about true-form Starscream. Why is he vaguely cuddly? Does he have a different personality? And that’s just a few of my many questions regarding this design. I may address these thoughts in a later post and I may not. I only recently discovered this design and I have many thoughts on it as I said at the start of this post.
