okay i've started watching fantasy high: junior year and it's . So Good so far. but i just have to take a moment to gush about how exciting riz is as aro rep???

like this is junior year, all his friends are applying to colleges, and he wants to make sure they stick together. i really hope they develop this further (and i'm kinda sure they will, given the way they've handled riz's romantic orientation in seasons past) but already this is leagues above any aro rep i've ever seen?? like yeah, a really common fear for aro folks is that their friends will get into relationships and move on.

amatonormativity kind of demands that people prioritize romantic relationships, and also sets getting married as an actual step someone has to take to fully grow up. and, ofc, once people are married it's the expectation that they spend most of their time with their partner. and i've had aro friends who have said that this societal expectation is so upsetting and anxiety inducing, because it essentially means that eventually they'll be left behind by friends as they get married and move onto the next arbitrary developmental stage of life. and the fact that riz is already grappling with that fear makes him feel so fucking real. he's not just a guy who happens to be aro, his aromanticism affects his fears and priorities, etc.

which is so real!! being aro and/or ace absolutely separates you from some huge societal assumptions many people take for granted and it feels refreshing to see people approach an aro character with that understanding

Hey y'all! It's weird question time again! So that doctor I mentioned before that I wanted to make a dog plushie for because he has improved my quality of life so much* (and also inexplicably reminds me of like a greyhound or a borzoi) is my endocrinologist And, as my endocrinologist, he recommended back in December that I go see a rheumatologist, because he thinks I might have rheumatoid arthritis**. The staff at his office have been trying to get a rheumatologist for four months now. I know that, because yesterday I got a call from the rheumatologist's office and the nurse I spoke to said "Your doctor's office has been very...persistent about getting you this appointment" So now I kinda want to get something for the whole office? But idk what I could get them or make them. Like, in non-medical contexts I'd make cookies or brownies for a group, but I can't bring cookies to a doctor's office. I mean, I guess I could, but if I were them I would definitely not eat them, and I run the risk of allergy-ing a fellow patient. Is there like a gift basket or gift card or thank you card or something you can recommend?

*I mean he maybe should have found a diagnosis before offering me steroids about it but the low dose steroids have made such a HUGE difference in my quality of life I am thrilled with Tennessee's weird (to me, with my experience in California) medical practices **I don't think I have enough joint pain for it to be rheumatoid arthritis, but he's like the fourth doctor to tell me it's weird that when I got hives they usually started on joints, so maybe I'm wrong? I have the weird version of enough medical things that at this point I would not be surprised if I had Weird Rheumatoid Arthritis.

#the person behind the yarn #I want to show my appreciation to these people! #but in a not-super-weird way #because they are my doctors and I want them to think I am a normal human who is rational #so they continue to treat me well. because I am a little paranoid about that with doctors #because of That One Guy at the local urgent care back in socal #who decided one day I had anxiety instead of. you know. allergies. #and he saw me before the allergies got super bad when it was just moderate hives and gave me anxiety meds about it #and then like a year later I was in the beginning stages of a severe allergic reaction #which I knew by then was going badly so I went to the urgent care (like my doctor told me to!) to get steroids for it #and the same guy gave me anxiety meds again and sent me home #I had to go back the next day to get steroids #and the second doc took one look at me and like left the room to go set up a steroid shot #I was COVERED in hives #anyway it both makes me appreciate good doctors #and makes me want to try very hard to make them think I am Not Anxious #something both normal to want and possible to achieve lol

In all seriousness I am very confident he’s gonna turn out really well, I’m very excited to see how Weird Al portrays cosmos because that’s such a goofy casting decision and perfect for my lame minibot cosmo. The only thing I’m super worried about is design, I just want him to look lovely and silly and small. G1 Cosmos is my favorite design and I really want people to go back to making him round. I like the ‘getting his alt mode from a b-movie set’ idea so I hope they do that too.

MOB MAVERICK⁉️⁉️

YIPPEEE FINALLY FINISHED SMT!! Ok so I finally decided to draw Mob Maverick!!! My beloved!! I have a lot and I mean A LOT of thoughts with him and loreee… But I’ll probably spread it out through posts over time. I should probably give some basic info on him…

So Maverick Mic is a part of the Darling family! The day he joined was the lowest point in his life and you’ll find out eventually why! Just know Maverick was but a husk of a man he once were when he joined Wally.

I like to think that he was mostly sent on solo missions to take care of unwanted rivals or those who got in the way. Just to make life easier for the family! But since he’s pretty isolated while working alone (he mostly operated from an abandoned radio station) and doesn’t have anyone close in the family he’s just kinda… slowly going insane… Until he got assigned to bodyguard Rainy! (Who belongs to @koifsssh ! Muah!) And ever since then things got a bit more interesting!… Which honestly is an understatement. Koi made a post about their relationship, and I might make one as well!! To put into words Maverick’s perspective on things.

Honestly Mob Maverick is the complete opposite of original Maverick. He keeps a lot to himself, not as outgoing, a pretty grumpy and tired guy (he gets zero sleep 💀) and overall a lot more quieter. It’s just he’s been with himself for such a long while that talking kinda doesn’t seem appealing anymore. And not only that his mindset at first is very pessimistic. He does what he’s told and moves on with his life. The guy died a hundred times so making connections lost its point… Until Rainy appeared :DDD now getting to know someone better gained its appeal back…

I also have some doodles! OH ALSO MADDY’S IN THIS AU TOO!! Couldn’t forget my babyyyyy! Honestly she deserves her own post! But I’ll say at least smt about her, here’s a fun fact: she’s the only reason Wally even considered taking Maverick into the family. Bless
