We all know I shouldn’t be allowed to make Tumblr posts after 1 AM, but here we go again… This has been in my brain for so long so now I am going to ramble about it (shoutout to the Hamlet Discord server for joining in the Thinking)
Surveillance Hamlet!!!
(Or, rather, the theme of surveillance in Hamlet and some fun and exciting ways I’d like to see it portrayed on stage assuming this mythical theater program has unlimited money)
(Warning- this thought is undercooked. This is going to get rambly…)
Surveillance is a major theme in Hamlet. Nearly everyone in the play engages in some kind of spying or scheming or is the victim thereof (or both). I love plays as a medium for the fact that each individual performance has the opportunity to completely change which themes get the most emphasis and surveillance is a theme I’d love to see take center stage with Hamlet specifically!
Hamlet is a pretty meta play. It ends with a message on the act of storytelling within the specific context of the story the audience has just watched just after it calls out the “mutes and audience” to the ultimate tragedy for their inaction during the runtime of the play. It’s also been performed and adapted plenty of times with a modern lens. Grief, depression, existential anxiety, and gay people are, apparently, universal pieces of the human experience, but if anything looms larger than ever over today’s society, it’s surveillance. Hell, I’m typing this on a device that is for sure selling my data to the government and probably also scam artists! So give me a performance where extreme surveillance heightens all the other aspects of the play, where Hamlet’s paranoia is exceedingly justified.
First, choose a good venue. Outdoor theater is almost always my favorite, but in this case, choose a massive indoor theater with a movie theater style sound system. Hang massive screens above the stage like you’d see at a big concert.
Now, these actors are going to be doing some major method acting. Put cameras above the stage at all angles. Put cameras in the wings. Put cameras on the crew. Put cameras in the audience- maybe some employee plants instructed to stream the show to the screens from their view or even to obnoxiously take photos and video throughout the show. No matter where these actors go, so long as they’re in character, there’s a camera on them. Put mics everywhere too, so even low whispers are heard from the backrow.
I want this play to start with an attempt at secrecy. The ghost appears, Hamlet begs his friends not to speak of it, but he can hear his whispers echoing right back to him and he knows it’s useless. The curiously missing line where Marcellus, Horatio, and Barnardo do finally swear upon Hamlet’s sword isn’t implied to be there as usual. It doesn’t exist. The ghost is only “satiated” by the coming of dawn, even this first, simple wish remains unfulfilled.
Hamlet spends the end of act 1 wavering between a genuine breakdown and an acted portrayal of madness. Pretending shields him from showing legitimate emotion on those screens.
To be or not to be is performed offstage, but on camera. Hamlet seems to think for a moment that he’s truly alone or perhaps it’s all part of the facade. Either way, emotion gets the best of him eventually and he realizes he can’t escape the cameras (or mortality). He comes on stage for get thee to a nunnery, frantically trying to get away from his ever-echoing voice, only to find a spotlight on him. The lines come across as cruel as they are pathetic. Ophelia is also being watched. Ophelia didn’t decide alone to speak to him. In some ways, she has far less privacy than he does, but Hamlet isn’t looking for solidarity in the watched. He wants to be alone. He wants to not be seen.
When he stabs Polonius, Ros & Guil track him down on the cameras. There’s no need to run, but he tries.
The only time Hamlet is truly outside of surveillance is on the ship to England (and then with the sailors who return him to Denmark). Maybe Claudius doesn’t want the world to know he has sent the prince to be executed, but it is clear that he too has lost any real control of this surveillance system. You saw him praying. Or was it a publicity stunt? Hamlet returns and simply tells Horatio (and by proxy, you) what happened on the ship, maybe resentfully. The only time he gets privacy, he doesn’t need it.
By the final scene, he no longer wants not to be seen. He isn’t sure you see him at all. No, you mutes and audience look right through him as if you know infinitely more than him, as if he hasn’t proven that he knows he is a sparrow that will fall. But you know the lines and he doesn’t.
He asks Horatio to tell his story. Maybe there’s something personal about being told a story rather than watching one play out. Maybe you can’t look through a storyteller.
Hamlet canonically knows he’s being watched. He uncovers Ros & Guil’s spy mission in the span of minutes, kills Polonius in the act of spying on him, and comes to mistrust the people around him because almost no one seems to be genuine with him (besides horatio). But it’s not just the characters, it’s the audience. In his darkest moments, he looks out for just a second, almost begging for help, only to discover that no one is coming to his aid. When he tries to exit, the spotlight follows him and so do the cameras. It’s inescapable. When he delivers the “mutes and audience” line, it should be as accusatory as it is pleading. You, the audience, have seen his life projected on massive screens, you’ve heard his every word and whisper, you know him, don’t you? Yes, you know him better than his closest friends. He’s spilled his soul to you because he knows you can’t be escaped, that you, rows upon rows of darkness to this actor blinded by spotlights, are always watching. Will you help? he asks, one final time. The answer is an obvious no, not because you’re heartless but because that’s not why you’re here. You’re here to see a play.

GrojBand Comeback Tour - Kin Kujira
Support me over at Patreon: www.patreon.com/skulljackxiii
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: When looking back at the show and remembering what Kin was like, he didn't feel that much different than his brother, but I guess that was part of why they got along so well. Anyways I thought that in this version, he plays more in his role as a genius, where he's more dedicated and prideful towards his intellect. Of course I'm still keeping him as a weird and hyper personal so that he easily goes along Corey's and his brother's antics, but he flips a switch when it comes to his projects. Let's say that something goes wrong with one of his inventions or if something offends his knowledge, he would be go on a tirade and start cursing left and right when he's alone, though comedically he would immediately calm down in front of his friends as if nothing happened. He never directly goes off or shown to have any kind of hostility towards anyone, but there is only one exception, Kim. Whenever Kin sees Kim, they both can't help themselves but get hostile and have this kind of pissing contest against one another to see who was more smart. Kin doesn't exactly know why he's so honest when it comes to Kim or how she gets on his nerves so quickly and the same could be said about her as well, the only one that seems to get a clue is Konnie.)
Role: Kin is one of the key members of Grojband, taking the many vital roles as the band's keyboardist, audio technician, and remixer; many of the final music productions is almost entirely relied on him. Along side that, with his knowledge of science and machines, he's also relied as the band's auto-mechanic for the maintenance and repairs for their tour bus.
Bio: Kin lived in Japan most of his life with her brother Kon and the rest of the Kujira Family, along with another named the Kagami Family. Parents of both families were inseparable friends who spent many years together, thus he and his brother grew up knowing the children of the other family, Kim and Konnie. Kin was fond with Konnie and treated her like family, but for he couldn't quite get along with Kim. Whenever he saw her, he would start to flare up and butt heads with her over every little thing, especially when it came to academics. This is because unlike Kim, Kin was not born as a prodigy, in fact he did quite poorly in school to a point where at times even his brother would have better grades than him. It bothers him at times, especially when he compares himself to a natural born genius like Kim, but that didn't discourage him from improving his mind. Kin has always prided himself with learning and especially towards things he didn't know or quite understood.
For years, he constantly studied, analyzed, and improved all his effort in order to surpass Kim and show that his hard work could overtake her natural born talent; though she didn't make it easy and would gloat whenever she came out on top. As this continued, Kin would only grow from all his failures until one day he finally did it and beat Kim in a subject, that being music. His hard work paid off and since then both him and her would go back and forth trying to out due the other in all kinds of fields. Despite whatever awards or recognition either one gained from their rivalry, they didn't pay heed as they solely focused on one thing, each other.
One day, his parents were informed to be transferred overseas for work, so the Kujira Family, along with the Kagami Family, moved to America. With his weird personality, it didn't take long for Kin to get along with people in his first couple of days. He was quite the busybody as so many people tried to get him into so many after school clubs and communities due to his dedication and intelligence. But the one that finally got him was actually a band from his brother's classmate, Corey Riffin. Kon wanted them to play music together since Kin already accumulated many music awards from being a ceremonial pianist and a composer. He was hesitant at first, but after hearing Kon out some more and finally meeting Corey, he was more than willing to join up.  After meeting Corey in person and hearing his dreams, his words resonated with Kin and made him really want to see what he'll do next.

Music tech startup closing doors due to low investor, public interest in flagship product
April 18 - ALEPH
Earlier this week, the CEO of AbleSound Acoustics sent out notice that the company would be closing its doors, citing lack of initial investment and poor first impressions of their flagship product, the Tondeker modular guitar.
"While disheartening, we must face the reality of music production in the current day and age. The DAW has its place in the studio, as do those who are serious about recording their own performances. We were searching for that weird combination of live performer, disc jockey, and audio technician, but ended up missing the mark for all three. I'm still proud of my team and the strides that they were able to make in the name of music production, but the world has chosen to head in a different direction."
The CEO continued, citing AI-assisted music generation as one of the many reasons behind the lukewarm audience reception. Critics and reviewers provided a multitude of additional reasons for the Tondeker's failure to launch.
The guitar was lambasted for its appearance among the public, with one such post on social media decrying it as "an ugly metal box that has no right to call itself a guitar". While those willing to give it a chance found it easy to use, they noted that they also had difficulty understanding the niche it was meant for.
"Not every performance needs to be recorded, and not every composition needs to be performed. I play my actual guitar and compose on my tablet. I don't need to tape the two together!"
In spite of its shortcomings, the Tondeker is still technically impressive. It is lauded for its hard-light integration, a first for the emerging technology. However, even there it was not free from criticism, as the idea of interfacing hard-light with music led to safety concerns among testers.
"Take away all the extra doodads, and this thing is nothing more than a fancy theremin. It's fun to mess around with, but the novelty wears off quickly."
AbleSound Acoustics will cease operations in June. The company's employees are hopeful that they will be able to continue collaborating and innovate in a different field that is better suited to their strengths.
Investors speculate that the technological uniqueness of the Tondeker combined with the limited nature of its manufacturing run will lead to both the guitar and its modules being highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts.

do you have any tips for writing robo smut for people who don't know anything about computers/machines?
Unfortunately, I am a former repair technician and massive malware analysis and machine learning nerd
Here's some things I note:
- Nearly every AI is a neural network, not just programming anymore. Characters who are sentient are normally neural networks, thusly - makes more sense. Colossus I hc as not being a full neural network, but a prototype of one because he's not even digital!
- Neural networks have fun and exploitable oddities. If they learn too much, they become dumb (they cascade and stop caring about being right after they find a way to get positive reinforcement by breaking whatever you put them in). If you give them too much positive reinforcement, they will become addicted and forget to do other things - just like human addiction. Neural networks are prone to repetition and love to repeat words and phrases because they're programmed to see patterns - if you go to any talking AI with GPT and start making a list of colors, it'll go nuts. There are also many different types of neural networks, and learning how a few of them work can help you come up with new ways to write your favorite robots. (Purely as examples, I write AM as having a strong reinforcement for violence and GLaDOS as having heavy negative weights on human touch and humans. I write BT as being mildly addicted to you because being with a pilot is a positively reinforcing action... and so is bonding.)
- Computers probably don't bluescreen when they cum. It's like the human equivalent of women liking cervix-play - not impossible, but unlikely. Bluescreens only really happen from driver mishaps and physical problems. A better way to write it might be overheating, overclocking their hips (💀), gettin' lost in the sauce, fizzling/crackling audio as they use all their resources and lag out... the possibilities are endless!
- Look at a few board repair videos if you want spicy writing ideas 🤔. I honestly got a fairly complete understanding of soldering basics by watching a few while I ate years ago... it led me to this idea: what if someone bridged a wire from the power rail directly to the pleasure chip? This would deliver electricity to it, making it oversensitive! I would love to know what others come up with. It looks a lot more complex than it really is and is mostly having really straight hands and memorizing what round or flat shaped bits do what things.
- Try an AI! You can learn so much from it. character.ai features GPT, the transformer that can write to you and remember what you say. Google has Draw with DeepMind (the... the real one 😇), Jukebox AI can make weird music, 15AI can make GLaDOS confess her love to you in her voice... and there's the highly debated Stable Diffusion when you want to make random ideas into strange art (I used it to generate anime Walter White in a bikini, you don't have to rip anyone off!)
- What I say are only suggestions, and you don't have to do these things. Surely there are robots that bluescreen when they cum, and there isn't anything wrong with 'filling circuits' or not knowing about neural networks. Not everyone is interested in the finer details, and there's nothing wrong with that. Ultimately you should just write what you think is hot and fuck the haters, because your works are a gift and a privilege!
Dear Anon, if you would like to discuss further or share your works, I know everyone here would love to see them and give you lots of support. We are all just robot lovers 🥰

Introductions are a necessary evil.
Hello! 🙌🏾
You can call me Forte. I'm a Brazilian writer, essayist, and film screenwriter. My work is influenced by the new Latin American fiction of magical realism, post-boom literature, philosophy, and African diaspora culture. I write in Portuguese and English, and in addition to being an aspiring novelist, I’m also a sound technician, activist, and lover of good music.
I started writing as a teenager, mostly short stories. I was in the habit of keeping a journal at that time too—something about being able to write down my feelings helped me cope with them. In high school, I wrote more fanfiction than original fiction because it seemed like an easier and more comfortable genre for me. Fanfic is very forgiving, which made it a lot less intimidating than writing something new from scratch. After high school, I went on to college and got a degree in Film Studies. My focus was screenwriting, but I fell in love with being a boom op (audio technician) during my internships, so when I graduated, I pursued film production instead.
A few years later, I decided I wanted to be a writer again. And now I’m here back on Tumblr, sharing what I can.
This blog will be focused primarily on my two current work-in-progress, NOCT WIP and Saint WIP. They are both young adult novels, though they have different themes, settings, and tones. I plan on posting some snippets/excerpts of each periodically, along with character profiles, behind-the-scenes information, and general updates on how the process is going.
NOCT WIP is a dark academia novel set in a prestigious music conservatory. The story follows a music quartet through their senior year, focusing mainly on their relationship dynamics while also dealing with personal issues such as generational trauma, abuse, mental health problems, and grief.
SAINT WIP is a MM fantasy novel, following two young men in a city burning with revolutionary fervor. The story focuses heavily on political shenanigans, the relationship between class and power, and the struggle of identity and self-discovery. Demons, anarchy, and violence are woven throughout this one.
Both books are currently in early drafts, so please bear with me if I post anything unfinished or rough around the edges! But hopefully you'll enjoy reading what I've written so far.
I also write poetry, flash fiction and reviews on (rare) occasion. If you're interested in getting in touch, feel free to send me a message. I'm open to collaborations and commissions too, so let's talk!

Hi there! If you were still accepting these and had the time, I wanted to join in on the redacted match ups!! Please and thank you <3
About me:
A song I'm fixated on right now is Read Your Mind by Sabrina Carpenter. Specific lyrics are
"Decompressin', tryna ease the tension But you got me stressin', feelin' like I need to call when You sneak up on me, tell me that you miss me in your life
I can't read your mind You say that you need to be alone But night and day, want me at your beck and call"
I think I've just been really drawn to this song lately because I'm at a place where things are going really well for me, and I have a full assurance that I know who my friends are right now and I just compare that to a previous time where I didn't have those certainties and thinking about people who were kind of two-faced and would make me relate to this song.
Not sure if this tidbit is relevant, but I hadn't even taken any enneagram test before going down your list of questions. I'm a 4 apparently! (The test I took showed me a pie chart that was like, all 9 numbers, the other two biggest pieces were 7 and 2, if that matters at all. Idk, as said hadn't done a test for this kind of thing until just now)
I do love YouTube video essays, but I always watch them intently rather than as background noise. My go-to favorite would be the Lindsay Ellis Omegaverse Lawsuit video (does that count as a video essay? I'm pretty sure it does). On the surface, it sounds like such a ridiculous topic to take so seriously, but the actual case was very dramatic and fascinating to me.
I didn't really have a childhood imaginary friend. I would either play by myself or pretend I was playing with cartoon characters (I specifically remember on multiple occasions pretending to be going on adventures with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach).
My go-to way to fall asleep would be taking my medication (I am an insomniac, and melatonin supplements don't work for me, so we got prescribed sleep medication), and then either putting on an asmr audio roleplay video or just laying in silence depending on how tired I am. I can never fall asleep to sleep aid audios, I prefer listening to just rambling nonsense about a specific thing like video games or something like that.
My favorite Redacted audio would be Confronting Your Technician. I really like that one for multiple reasons. First off, Project Meridian was the first series I had actually listened to when I first found the channel and I really liked the concept of an android listener. I think the series as a whole is really interesting because it really makes me think about how we treat technology, especially as you get into the territory of making devices seem more "human" (that's the brief version, but I have many ramblings about this series in my notes on my phone). Secondly, I really relate to being taken advantage of by someone who would know I wouldn't know any better or any different, and to have that audio as the turning point for not just confronting Marcus for what he did, but also having James be there to help the asset face him was just really nice. I didn't have that same kind of support when I had to face people who were bad to me, and listening to that audio is almost healing in that sense for me. I have it saved on a comfort audios playlist even though it's not labeled as a comfort audio.
The redacted boy that holds no appeal to me is one Asher Talbot. He's sweet, and he's lovable, but when I first found the channel, his audios just felt kind of boring and repetitive. Not that I don't like the occasional sweet and domestic fluffy stuff, but I just didn't see that much in him tbh. I understand the appeal, but he's just not for me.
One movie I know all the words to is Burlesque (2010). I'm not a huge movie person, but I ended up watching that at a sleepover I went to, and I just really loved the movie. I like musicals, I like sexual humor, and I liked the story of the movie (even if it was a little cheesy and predictable at times). Plus, it features Christina Aguilera, and her vocals are PHENOMENAL!!
A redacted boy that I love platonically and would love to be friends with is Huxley. He's in my top 5 favorite redacted characters, but I think ultimately I do like him more as a friend than a romantic partner. He's just so chill and supportive and I tend to be very fast-paced and anxious and excited a lot of the time, so I think he would be a good friend to have to sort of balance that out.
My go-to thing to ramble about always relates to animation. Specifically, I am such a nerd about breaking down the process of how something was animated and either theorizing or looking up certain choices that were made behind the scenes. For a long time, I wanted to pursue animation as a career, and I still kind of do, so that has become a topic I am very passionate to ramble about at any given moment, not specific to when I'm tired.
When I was a kid and we stopped at a gas station, I either got a Dr.Pepper and cheese puffs, or a cherry icee and a plain glazed donut. Nowadays, if I stop at the gas station for a snack, I'll get a diet Dr.Pepper and nacho cheese Doritos.
My current favorite playlist is this playlist I made for me to start my day playing. Noise helps me wake up, and so I made a playlist with songs that inspire me to think confidently of myself. I'm not going to share the entire playlist, but the first three songs are all from Barbie movies (You Can Tell She's A Princess and On Top Of The World from the Princess Charm School movie, and Life Is A Fairytale from the Fashion Fairytale movie). The rest is what I can describe as generic uplifting pop music. It feels very cheesy and fake to have a playlist like this, but it genuinely does make me feel happy and energetic and confident in the morning and I think it helps me start my day just a little bit on a good note.
My guilty pleasure media is the show Mr.Pickles. It's a cartoon about this demon dog who kills people. The show is very violent, and the writing is morally questionable, but overall it is a show I like to just binge every once and a while because I do consider myself to have a somewhat sadistic sense of humor. I never actively wish bad on any real people, but I will laugh at a cartoon dog ripping someone's legs off.
I feel like I've already said a lot (definitely way more than I was anticipating lol) so I think I'll leave it here
Please and thanks again!! Have a good time zone!!!
Tumblr media
Thank the lord for you, because this is the moment I’ve been waiting for. 44 match-ups, and I finally get to pair someone with that sweet, lovable boy, Geordi.
The basis is definitely there for a deep emotional connection and supportive relationship. Geordi has this history of insecurity and not being properly appreciated or treated which resonates, to me, with your song choice and why you relate to it. That makes me think the two of you would really understand each other and be able to connect, to communicate clearly in a relationship and set boundaries, to build something good and cohesive right out the get-go.
On a lighter, funner note, I think the two of you would have a lovely, comfortable, domestic life together! Geordi would love pop music with you (so far, the only Redacted boi I headcanon as a Swiftie) and would love listening to you ramble about animation. Even the things you don't have in common would mesh well- I can see you loving watching Star Trek with him or, at least, listening to ramble about Star Trek. Likewise, I’m not sure he loves Mr. Pickles, but he loves you and spending time with you engaging in the things that make you happy.
Song:
Oh, you're the one I want/ I want to drive away with you/ I want your complications too/ I want your dreary Mondays/ Wrap your arms around me, baby boy
Like I said, Swiftie! This song is so cheerful and sweet and is just a fun love song that works for y’all. Also, Geordi knows all the words, and you’ll catch him belting it out when he doesn’t know you’re home. He’ll be embarrassed, and it’ll be so, so cute.
Runner-Ups:
I like David as a runner-up because of his similarities to James, the way he’s a solid, reliable authority figure but more protective and warm than the telepath. He, if necessary, would be the perfect man to make sure you were never taken advantage of again. Elliott is a runner-up because I just love pairing that dreamwalking boy with creatives; like, imagine him building dreamscapes full of adjustable models and features, your own life-size animation models. He’s an artist’s dream come true!
note: this didn’t officially factor into it but your song being named “Read your mind” was a very serendipitous coincidence
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

can u say peixin things. what do they do on normal daily basis what music does it like or what info abt sound technician job #peixinfan
this has taken me so long to answer so sorry but peixinsweep forever....
from a young age they've been fascinated by two things and those are 1. live event production 2. music!!!! a lot of the latter in particular depends on digital archives of stuff - they own so many fucking cds with music burned on them and probably also had a fondness for shitty early 2000s mp3 players that they just lugged around to places
i actually did make a list of music genre preferences for everyone a while ago and i pinned down peixin's taste as strictly nu metal but that was mostly a joke. retrospectively they're indubitably into all kinds of edm
in their local area they were well known for helping organise some music festivals, alongside sporadic DJing.... though they mostly enjoyed arranging sets of other peoples tunes they occasionally produced some of their own, often featuring heavy sampling of obscure music from the 90s
their fascination with old music gave them a notable talent for searching old digital web archives - huge application of this came in when they had to refurbish their theatre's audio collection which was very lacking.... they probably spent a week or two just sifting through random foley mp3s and music samples and they had the time of their life
prior to the train they started branching out into some lighting design and some other misc stagehanding but uhhhh evidently those attempts were cut short
outside of that they have a fairly big interest in archaic architecture, often researching ridiculous impractical buildings just to laugh at them
though they probably didnt like to travel much they often liked to tour around art museums

Oct. 13, 2022Everything RisesNYT Critic's Pick
Not long into “Everything Rises,” which opened at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Wednesday night, the bass-baritone Davóne Tines confronts the audience with an uncomfortable declaration.
“I was the moth, lured by your flame,” Tines, who is Black, sings with disdain. “I hated myself for needing you, dear white people: money, access and fame.”
“Everything Rises” is a timely collaboration, created by the Korean American violinist Jennifer Koh and Tines, that interrogates what it means to be a classical musician of color — to have chosen to make a creative life and professional career in a medium and a milieu that are overwhelmingly white, and to have tucked away fundamental elements of their identities in the process. The result of those inquiries is a compact, affecting and meditative multimedia work made entirely by people of color, including the composer and librettist Ken Ueno, the director Alexander Gedeon and the dramaturg Kee-Yoon Nahm.
Koh and Tines conceived this show several years ago. Its debut was originally scheduled for spring 2020, but because of the pandemic it instead premiered this April at the University of California, Santa Barbara. What happened across the United States between those two dates — particularly in terms of racial violence perpetrated against Black and Asian Americans — made the enterprise seem even more pressing.
The work begins with Koh and Tines dressed in typical concert dress: she in a wine-colored gown, crowned with demure dark hair, and he in a tuxedo. But he is also wearing a black blindfold, which leaves him feeling his way across the expanse of the Fishman Space stage at BAM. Early on, the audience sees a video clip of Koh’s winning performance as a 17-year-old at the 1994 Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, an early highlight of what could have been a traditional career.
Soon enough, however, Koh reveals her true, hot pink hair. Tines puts his customary earrings on. The duo wear fitted black tank tops with voluminous black skirts — a coming into their full selves, and a recognition of the parallels of their individual paths.
Musically and narratively, “Everything Rises” underlines the fact that Koh and Tines, as well as their creative partners, are constantly code switching, depending on where they are and whom they are with. Ueno imaginatively expresses those frequent alternations between ways of being, drawing texts from their experiences and sampling audio recordings of interviews with the matriarchs of their respective families: Koh’s mother, Gertrude Soonja Lee Koh, who fled the Korean War to the U.S., and Tines’s grandmother, Alma Lee Gibbs Tines, a descendant of enslaved people.
Ueno weaves clips of these women recounting chilling, graphic stories. Alma recalls the lynching of one of her relatives — “they killed him and hung him, cut his head off and they kicked his head down the streets” — while Soonja remembers, “I saw people being tortured and people on the trees, bodies hanging on the trees.”
There are also moments of melancholic tenderness in “Everything Rises,” such as in the lullaby-like “Fluttering Heart,” and testaments to enduring resilience. Over the course of the show, Tines and Koh hold each other up literally and figuratively: hearing, acknowledging and amplifying each other’s stories.
Ueno’s score nods to 19th-century Western idioms, traditional Korean music and shimmering contemporary electronica. The effect is not a pastiche, but a sonic code switching. He also allows Tines and Koh — exemplary technicians and artists of profound intensity — to explore their full tonal and textural ranges. Moments of racial violence are evoked by Koh playing growling, guttural scratch tones, often on her open G string, while Tines cycles from his rich basso profundo to an ethereal falsetto. (The day before “Everything Rises” opened, BAM named Tines as its next artist in residence, beginning in January.)
The piece ends with a hopeful original song, “Better Angels,” which is preceded by a particularly haunting sequence. Ueno writes a new setting of “Strange Fruit,” the powerful song, made famous by Billie Holiday, that portrays violence against Black Americans and that, in part, led to Holiday’s prosecution by the U.S. government. It’s impossible not to imagine Holiday’s ancestral shadow as part of this work: Alongside Alma and Soonja, she becomes its third matriarch.

Question to ask to  cell phone  repair experts
It almost seems unjust to refer to the portable computers that the majority of us keep in our pockets as cellphones. Cellphone operating systems must be complicated in order to manage online browsers, mobile apps, music libraries, and cameras while maintaining a seamless user experience.
Tumblr media
While using your mobile phone could be simple, fixing it might not be. Cellphones' inherent complexity, which makes them so valuable, also becomes their fatal flaw. Phone repair Experts on Tech Fix are available to guide you through the procedure if you need your phone to work immediately. Their troubleshooting abilities will assist you in identifying your issue, locating a fix, and getting your mobile back up and running.Even better, you can request clarification and only authorize  payment once you're entirely happy.
Regularly, the knowledgeable Experts on Tech Fix react to questions via mobile devices like:
How can I get phone unlocked?
I created a new G mail account after I was unable to get in to my old one. My contacts can no longer be moved to my new account. Can you assist me?
How can I obtain a confirmation code delivered to me from my new smartphone, or better yet, my Google account on my computer?
Why would I hear voices while my phone's audio is playing?
I received my phone a few days ago, and although I believed it to be active, I am unable to place a call. What must I accomplish?
The Expert will require some information about your mobile in order to provide you with the appropriate help.
Don't forget to inform the an expert you've chosen of all the problems with your equipment. For instance, if you drop your phone on the ground, the camera may be harmed or the phone may be damaged by liquid in addition to the screen. Therefore, you must ensure that you accurately informed the technician of all the damages and problems. This will make it easier for the expert to resolve all of the problems, and you'll receive your phone back in perfect working order.
Follow these instructions going forward anytime you provide the technician your phone. Additionally, be sure to follow the proper procedures to prevent any complications.

Watching Linda Bengtzing make her mello debut in the first semifinal of 2005 is facinating from a production standpoint. The lack of Cuepilot is palpable in the less than ideally timed rapid cuts building up to the final chorus, and generally you can tell the production team isn't as experienced with this format yet. Nothing major is wrong, but there's something in the little things.
When Linda began her performance, for example, I thought "huh, I can't quite hear her vocal as clearly as I'd like. Maybe she's a bit nervous." But no, apparently the sound technician noticed the error too (with mild panic, I presume), because mid-song, live on air they begin to play with the audio levels to bring out the vocal more. First they overshot the mark, almost killing the music (and thereby also the mood of the performance, for the audience listening at home at least), only to then backtrack and eventually land in a marginally better spot than where we started out (only now the vocal is maybe a bit too heavy, if anything). Let's just say: I get why they would never make adjustments to such minor details live on air today. Supremely distracting, with a chance of completely killing the mood 😂
Maybe this performance was ahead of its time, in its own little way?

Live Sound Workshop
I have been attending live sound workshops provided by the university music team. Within these sessions I have learnt how to setup the ‘band room’ correctly to maximise sound quality so the audience can get the best possible audio experience!
First step was setup. Making sure that everything was powered with the same ring, but the overall Amps were not passing the fuse-point levels. Correctly spacing out speakers and subs so the sound was equal left and right.
Tumblr media
This mixing board (behringer x32) contains volume adjusters for each channel (Red), Screen for adjustments and settings (Green) and matrix groupings (Blue). The goal is to get each instrument at a volume level so that nothing is overtaking other instruments, and that sound is clean, with no problems such as loud feedback or humming that can distort the overall sound output.
We also used EQ to create our own cross points between the subs and speakers. This separates low end frequency and high end frequency’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Picture 1: Low end waves cut out, this audio will be played through top speakers
Picture 2: High end waves cut out, this audio will be played through subs
Tumblr media
Drums set up with microphones for kick, snare, toms and overhead for picking up cymbals.
Tumblr media
XLR inputs from live stage (amps, drum microphones, vocal mics), this audio will be connected into the mixer at the back. each instrument has its own channel so there can be control over every aspect of each instrument.
We then did ‘squeak’ tests on vocal microphones, this is to remove problematic frequencies that can cause feedback.
Then we were finished!

Digital Skills with Kalina Pulit
Concept + Storyboarding
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NewJeans - Ditto
Wes Anderson - The French Dispatch
During Kalina’s lessons, we considered context and format and how the placement of our work affects the audiences perspective on it. For the “A letter to...” brief I considered writing to my childhood home using camcorder footage and nostaglic imagery and music. Above are the visual references I considered for the potential production of this piece. I planned to use a mix media of film, and child-like drawn animation.
Pre production
This class talked us through all elements of pre production and planning.
Staff roles in Production:
Writer (sometimes also a Director)
Director (sometimes also a Writer)
Production Company
Executive Producer
Producer
Production Assistant (PA)
Director of Photography / Cinematographer
Art Director, Set Designer, Prop Stylist
Costume Designer / Stylist
Hair and Make Up Artist, Nail Technician, Prosthetics Artist, Special Effects
Planning involved in Pre-production:
Collating references
Creating a budget
Making a schedule
Casting – scouting and booking talent
Legal docus - any permits required
Testing – camera, costume fitting, make up, audio
Team brief
Rehearsals
Contracts
"A video treatment is a document that presents your idea for a music video, short film, or video project in a way that's easy to understand, visualize, and sell. A good treatment is a roadmap that outlines your vision, showcases your creativity, and demonstrates your ability to execute the project."
Video treatments contains:
Inspiration + refs
Concept
Storyboard
Character description
Cinematography
Location, set design
Casting, performance direction
Costume, hair and make up
Plot diagram + narrative arc:
Post production and Editing
Case study Nike - 'You Can’t Stop Us’ campaign.
youtube
voice over
storyline
cross cutting
colour grading + colour correction
building audio to build tension
Post production roles:
Editor
Post Producer
Animator
Colourist
VFX Artist
Motion Graphics Designer, Graphic Designer, Titles Designer
Sound Editor
Composer, Sound Designer, Foley Artist
Sound Mix Engineer
Types of editing such as:
Cross Cutting
L Cut
J Cut
Tumblr media
Solange - 'Crane in the Sky'
We were asked to consider for our own work:
Editing style – pace, overlays, cuts or transitions
Colour grade/ colour correcting
Animation/ VFX
Motion graphics
Sound design including soundtrack, dialogue and foley sounds.
My response to the task:
I want my film to take a slower pace, as I have decided it would be targeted to youtube. I think the slow place is necessary in order to create the relaxed nostalgic vibe. I want there to be a very gentle monologue, of myself reading the letter over the top of the film.
In terms of colour grading, I was thinking of using both a combination of the Wes Anderson bright and vibrant grading and the NewJeans 'Ditto' nostaglic darker and fuzzier aesthetic. I'm not certain if these will work together well but I want to use them in contrast to show the past (bright) and the present (dark).
Animated drawings or scribbles over the top of the footage to add movement to more still shots.
I am debating whether to add subtitles onto the video or not.
I will do a voiceover using a written script and then create a soundscape by filming general outdoor sounds. I don't want to use any music but in areas of film that have actions such as footsteps, I want there to be gentle footsteps in the background.
I feel like I have learnt a lot of new terminology from Kalina's lessons and it has given me an insight into filmmaking. Overall, I wish I had had more time to see this project through to the end, as the concept planning was very enjoyable. Film is definitley a skill I would like to develop and I will consider it for the future.

GrojBand Comeback Tour - Kim Kagami
Support me over at Patreon: www.patreon.com/skulljackxiii
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Note: Just like Konnie, Kim had no real info behind her but unlike her sister, I thought it'd be interesting if her character follows more in line with her OG counterpart rather than just make her a completely different character. Just as the show depicted, she'd be a nerdy inventor that has a great relationship with her sister. So I'll play more into that and make her a genius prodigy that is too smart for her own good and develops a competitive ego that causes her to be distanced by everyone else, and though her best relationship is with her sister she can't help it at times but internally feels jealous of Konnie's social interactions and popularity. She's seen most of the time quiet and alone, but becomes brash, loud, and prideful when ever Kin is around. As the only other person that can compete with her intellectually, she'll find any opportunity to mock and compete in any subject matter. This idea came to me because of how even the creators, Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton, ships both Kin and Kim together.)
Role: Kim is one of the key members of the Newmans, taking the many vital roles as the band's keyboardist, audio technician, and remixer; many of the final music productions is almost entirely relied on her. Along side that, with her knowledge of science and machines, she's also relied as the band's auto-mechanic for the maintenance and repairs for their tour bus. Despite all these responsibilities and her complaints, she actually enjoys being trusted and relied on by the very few people that she recognizes as friends.
Bio: Kim lived in Japan most of her life with her sister Konnie and the rest of the Kagami Family, along with another named the Kujira Family. Parents of both families were inseparable friends who spent many years together, thus she and her sister grew up knowing the children of the other family, Kin and Kon. The idea that she was forced to get along with others simply because of family reasons didn't really sit well with her since others generally didn't like her either. She was born a child prodigy that excelled in every academic field, especially music as a classical pianist. For a long time, as her ego grew and continued on excel over others, in turn made every one of her peers irritated by her. Soon something clocked and she realized that everything became boring, everyone just gave up and stopped trying whenever she was around. Though she never showed it, the isolation clearly bothered for a long time. But even after she become less vocal and out-spoken in her achievements, things didn't change and she remained by herself. But things changed when she locked eyes with Kin, being the first person to ever match her intellect and challenge her to her limits. This fueled a fire in her and wanted to win against him in at any cost. Since then, their fierce rivalry grew and continued to become more intense each time they saw each other.
On the day where the parents of the Kujira Family had to be transferred over to  America for work, the thought of separating for the Kagami Family was unacceptable, the one that was the most devastated was Kim, so they decided to move along with them. On her first day being transferred overseas, knowing her past mistakes before and given a clean slate, Kim was able to get along just fine with her classmates by restraining her ego and being more quiet. Though that's thrown out the window in a sec after seeing Kin just on the side from her peripheral view, then dashing over just to mock and antagonize him. In the end she wasn't as popular or sociable as her sister, but that didn't bother her because none of it affects any of her goals in life; like finding anything to beat Kin and have him submit to her superiority. One of those things would be music, after seeing Kin be accepted into a band as a keyboardist. She knew that she couldn't let it slide and had to find a band of her own that shared her ideology and feelings; though once she bumps into Carrie Beff the rest is history and she became the official member of The Newmans.

Little Big Workshop vs Smart Factory Tycoon
Tumblr media
Little Big Workshop:
“Manage your workers, stations, machines and create awesome stuff as your little big workshop grows into your dream factory!”
Smart Factory Tycoon:
“Smart Factory Tycoon inspired by Little Big Workshop is a tycoon management game about running your dream factory with robots. Design your dream factory, plan all steps of production, research new technologies and become a tycoon!”
-------------------------------------------------
You say Tomato I say Tomato – You say sidewalk I say pavement – You say Factory I say Workshop?
I will be honest, when I first saw ‘Smart Factory Tycoon’ come up in a bundle option I was convinced it was a rip from Little Big Workshop. Some further digging shows that it is more of a love letter to it and trust me, when they say ‘inspired by’ they mean it – Smart Factory Tycoon (SFT) literally screams Little Big Workshop (LBW) in nearly every pixel!
This kind of has me dodging the question of the blurry lines between ‘inspired by’ and ‘idea steal’ but I’m going to leave that well alone. On this occasion I want to compare just how similar these games are and what each does well and, well, what each doesn’t.
So, to kick us off, let’s start with the basics shall we?
Tumblr media
Loading/Start screens:
Both start screens show a preview of your latest Factory/Workshop, and both give useful hints and tips while loading. Nothing criminal here, let’s move on.
Settings: Video, Gameplay and control wise these marry up pretty well, I will say however that on the Audio side of things, this is where SFT wins it’s first point. Little big gives you the option to change Music, effects and ‘Minion’ effects separately which is great, however Tycoon goes an extra step and also lets you adjust the machines, Robots, ambience, vehicle AND UI volume all as their own entities – For someone with hypersensitive hearing, this is literal music to my ears!
Tumblr media
Workers hiring, skill progression & customisation:
I must admit I’m kind of torn a little on this one … I’m not even sure I’m torn for the right reasons.
SFT allows you to hire robots – You can choose which ones you hire based on pre-allocated skills, change their colour, names and the building they are allocated to. However, all robots look the same and, until you pay considerable money to unlock an ability which gives you higher skilled robots to purchase, your stuck with the 0/half star robots that need charging every 5 seconds. One thing to note on this is that, when they do eventually level up, you can choose which skills they level up in your own preferred order.
LBW does not allow you to choose who you hire, other than a worker or hauler. You can change their name but nothing else, however they are all randomised in appearance so you never get the same looking worker twice. They do however all start with minimum experience and have to work up to any noticeable skill level. Once sufficiently experienced, you can choose their skill speciality and turn them into a specialist assembler, wood worker, metal worker or plastic worker. For haulers, they can become technicians or super haulers.
Why am I torn? Because one gives me the option to focus on speed or stamina first whereas the other gives me little people I can watch do weird little actions while they moan about being overworked and sleep deprived … I honestly can’t choose a preference.
Tumblr media
Worker Energy:
Speaking of overworked and sleep deprived, I will admit robots are sooooo much easier to maintain. You build them a charging station and a lubricant shower and they are good to go in an endless cycle of work -> recharge -> repeat. Minions on the other hand have the audacity to moan like toddlers when they haven’t had a coffee break after making 4 shelves. Not only that, if they can’t get to the break room on time they will pass out in the middle of the floor until their cat nap is done and then wander around trying to figure out what they were meant to be doing. Robots win on this one, hands down … err … yeah hands, let’s stick with that.
Leaves, Tree’s and everything green:
This is probably one of the more finnicky parts of both games. Tycoon requires you to have forests and solar panels to reduce your energy impact and costs, whereas as workshop has grumpy people that want plants LITERALLY EVERYWHERE or they collapse all the time.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being green and using renewable energy, and I also understand plants in the workplace make people happier BUT … I draw the line at needing every room looking like I’m running a garden nursery business on the side.
Blueprints and planning:
This is where things get as finickity as it comes, and where both games kind of merge into one. Apart from some visual differences, the base of it is pretty much the same. You choose your materials making sure the requirements are met, link your machines and the execute the plan, all the while hoping you have enough bodies and machines to get the work done in time! Visually, I prefer LBW, along with the fact that if you are missing a workstation, you can go and buy it mid planning and come back where you left off. In tycoon however, if you are missing a machine and you exit the plan to go and buy it, you have to start the plan from scratch. It’s not the end of the world as such but it does get annoying after a while, especially if you need multiple machines.
Tumblr media
What exactly is the aim:
This my friends is where my decision gets made for me. Little Big Workshop has a Storyline! You have allies to make, rivals to beat and even minigames with a cash bonus if you complete them. Tycoon has none of this and your goal is literally to build a big factory. Yes there’s a leaderboard of Fake factory’s but this doesn’t actually mean or affect anything. If I had to make a decision between the two, this would be my main deciding factor.
To sum it all up:
Both games are a decent way to lose hours of the day and leave you having nightmares about lack of storage space and not enough foliage. Both games also get you frustrated at workers taking breaks at the worst possible moment, causing that oh so vital order to fail/lessen in value. Both games scratch the itch of wanting to micro manage a factory environment to make toys. However, only one of them actually gives you a purpose for doing all of this in the first place. Now please excuse me, I have imposters in my workshop to deal with!
