no worries about asking many questions! sometimes if i take a while to respond it's because 1) i'm making a bigger response (or one that involves art), 2) thinking more about the answer or 3) trying to space out who i respond to.

ones that are just text answers are sometimes faster for me because i can do them on days when i can't draw!

anyway, to answer your question:

the A World That Deserves You AU is an alternate universe timeline created by galacta knight defeating meta knight at the end of Robobot, and making a wish on star dream for them to trade places.

meta knight goes kicking and screaming into the rock candy. galacta knight is inserted into meta knight's life and existing relationships on popstar. galacta knight gladly lives on a happy and peaceful little planet training kirby of the stars, and nobody is none the wiser.

at least for a time.

eventually bandee (of all people, someone galacta knight thinks is totally inconsequential) figures out that something is up. once the severity of the situation is confirmed, he and magolor work together to try and correct the timeline while also developing an insane trauma-bonded a super healthy normal person relationship with each other. (i have talked about this part very little but their relationship and decision to work together is actually extraordinarily central to the whole plot haha.)

then there are a variety of AUs of the AU and different endings that are worse or worser, so on and so forth.

the 'true ending' for awtdy au, "the immortality integer", is actually remarkably happy, all things considered! there's lots of crying and yelling and screaming and a little bit of melodramatic self-sacrifice but it all works out, as things tend to.

Em, you are so right about everything you said about the CoD fandom. Sometimes writing characters OOC can be fun, but usually you have to REALLY understand the characters before you can successfully do that. Instead there’s been a lot of stuff written where people are just completely oblivious to how the characters are truly portrayed, and it’s concerning to the point where I wonder if people are truly that media illiterate or if they just willfully ignore canon. I subscribe to the idea that people can interpret characters in different ways bc of life experiences and what not, but some of the portrayals of the CoD men are so wildly all over the place.

And don’t get me wrong—I enjoy the smut! There are some really good, really smutty fics out there. But some of it definitely gets really carried away lately, and it’s a lot.

Anyways, if you want to respond to this publicly, feel free, or respond privately, or not at all! But thank you for sharing your opinion.

Yes, completely agree!! There's a significant difference in between having varying interpretations and then blatantly ignoring canon portrayal's of characters. It all originates from the complete lack of willingness to engage in the actual media you're writing for.

It's one thing to go 'Hey I think this character might do x for x reason related to their background' and someone else going 'Oh! I can see that, but I think this other part of their background might mean they wouldn't'.

It's an entirely different thing to completely ignore a character's background, story, and development (Usually by not reading/watching/researching the media they're in) and coming up with some WILD ideas that make absolutely no sense for how they are canonically portrayed.

For example: Ghost has lore that shows he was viciously tortured and traumatized. The comics have him being sexually assaulted, his entire family killed, his body mutilated, and being buried alive. Yet 90% of the fics I see about him (barring some very well written ones) don't even bother to mention this. It's a defining part of his characterization and yet people will blatantly ignore it to the point where some will write Ghost not having any of this trauma, and instead being a sexual abuser with no regard for his partners. I can't stomach it, nor can I stand it.

I try to keep my He Would Not Do That comments in private, but when there's so many folks on here re-writing characters to a degree where if you remove the name you won't be able to recognize them- it's not actually writing for a fandom. It's writing (Often very sexual) fantasies and slapping the name of a popular character on it with no regard to how they are canonically written. If you are going to ignore a character's canon to that extent, at least bother to admit you haven't watched/played the games, and put an OOC tag on it.

This fucking Marine would not leave her alone. 

“And so there I was, surrounded by forty of the nastiest, ugliest pirates in all of the South Blue! They were pointing their weapons at me, creeping closer and yelling curses far too crude to repeat in front of a lady. Bunch of disgusting savages.” The man took a swig of alcohol, pounding his mug against the counter.

Yara’s teeth gritted, staring down at the bottom of her glass as if it had gold in it. If it wasn’t for this ridiculously overpriced beverage-- some kind of pomegranate-flavoured thing that didn’t taste half as good as it looked on the menu board-- she would’ve been out of this shithole bar ages ago. 

It was the first day that the Moby Dick had made shore in almost a month, and she had somehow managed to spend far too long of it stuck next to this loser who had just spent the last hour bragging about his impending promotion to Captain of the 453rd Branch or whatever. The shit-eating smirk on his face told her that women were usually fawning over him by this point, and the fact that she wasn’t apparently meant that she needed a little more persuading. 

The Marine leaned closer to her, his breath reeking of cheap liquor. “So you know what I did next?”

“I couldn’t care le--”

“I grabbed hold of the steering wheel and swung the ship around! The bastards were so surprised, they didn’t even have time to grab hold of anything, so they all ended up tumbling into the ocean!!” He roared with laughter. “Can you believe that? See, the thing about pirates is that they’re all so hopelessly stupid.”

“Are they now?” Yara said flatly. She was increasingly tempted to push the edge of her dress back, fully revealing the tattoo that adorned her left leg. The only reason why she hadn’t so far was because she was loath to make the man think she was trying to entice him. 

“You better believe it, sweetcheeks.” He winked. “And if you want my opinion, Gold Roger was the stupidest one of all. Some ‘King of the Pirates’ he was. I heard there wasn’t even much of a fight to bring the brute down.” Swallowing another gulp of his beverage, he turned to face her. “Now, enough about me. What’s a pretty little gal like you doing all alone in this part of town?”

“Who said she was alone?” a familiar voice spoke from behind them. 

Yara’s heart leapt, a small smile creeping onto her lips as she finally glanced up from her half-empty glass. 

Ace flashed the both of them one of his usual cocky grins before draping an arm over Yara’s shoulders. “There you are. I was looking everywhere for you.”

The Marine’s expression soured. He shuffled closer to Yara, his tone dropping. “What do you say we get out of here? A man of my rank can get a room at any hotel you fancy.”

Ace tsked. “Whispering isn’t polite, y’know. And there’s a big problem with your plan.”

“Oh? And what’s that?”

A devilish grin spread across the young pirate’s face. He withdrew his arm and reached forwards, fingers brushing gently under Yara’s jaw as he tilted her chin up ever so slightly. “She’s mine.” 

Without a moment’s hesitation, he leaned in, his lips colliding with hers. Yara’s eyes widened, surprised by the sudden burst of affection, but they quickly fluttered shut. Ace’s hands had found her waist, pulling her in closer, the taste of pomegranate lingering between them as he deepened the kiss. Finally, he pulled away with a gentle nip to her bottom lip, leaving her breathless. Keeping one arm wrapped firmly around her midsection, he shot the Marine the most satisfied smirk Yara had ever seen.

The man’s lip curled as he slid off the bar stool and took a step towards Ace, trying to look menacing. “Oh, yeah? Who do you think you--” He stopped, his eyes landing on the ASCE tattoo on Ace’s arm. All the colour instantly drained from his face. “W-Wait a minute… I know you… You’re… You’re Fire Fist!!”

Ace tipped his hat at him. “That I am. Pleasure to meet ya.”

“But… that means…” His gaze slowly shifted over to Yara, finally noticing the tattoo poking out from under the hem of her dress. He gulped. “H-Hellcat Yara… It’s-- It’s the Whitebeard Pirates!!”

“And you say we’re the stupid ones,” Yara said disdainfully, watching as the man’s shaking hand reached for the sword strapped to his belt. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

His hand stilled for a second before grabbing the sword and whipping it out. “I’ll… I’ll capture you both! You have a combined bounty of almost one billion Berry, right?! I’ll be rich-- and a hero!!”

Ace and Yara looked at each other, then back at the quivering Marine. Yara let out a sigh, lifting up her glass.

Thunk!!

Before the man could move, she brought it down over his head. He slumped over, his sword clattering to the ground. The rest of the pomegranate-flavoured beverage splashed from the glass, dripping down his blank face.

“Wow.” Ace looked impressed. “That’s one way to solve it.”

Yara shrugged. “I’ve been wanting to do that for over an hour now. Besides, his flirting game sucked anyways.” She placed the glass down on the bar’s counter, sliding it over to the bartender who had apparently seen enough brawls to be completely unbothered by the situation. 

Side by side, the two young pirates left the bar, stepping out onto the sunny street. 

Ace’s stomach growled as they walked, making him chuckle. “All that excitement and I’m completely famished. Now whaddaya say I take you out for dinner? My treat.”

She laughed. “You say ‘treat’ as if you haven’t skipped the bill on every single date you’ve ever taken me on.” 

“That’s true,” he conceded, grinning sheepishly.

 Yara looped her arm around his, twining their fingers together. “I would love dinner. And to spend time with you as long as you’ll have me.”

Ace pretended to ponder it. “Well, if that’s the case, then… How about forever?”

Smiling, she leaned down and pressed a kiss against the crossed-out ‘S’ of his tattoo. “Forever sounds nice.”

hello, I'm curious about some things about Matthias and Theo

Who asked first to date?

How did their relationship look before it started to be serious?

Oh, Matthias was after Theo from the start. Theo’s pretty much Matthias’s exact type (which I’ve talked about here) and from the moment he first saw Theo he’d already made up his mind to go after him. He was, however, obstructed by the fact that Theo did not like him. Theo was instantly wary and on edge around him. Prey vs. predator. You get the themes and motifs, you understand what I mean. Obviously this changes over time, but when it does… Matthias doesn’t exactly ask Theo out. They behave exactly how a couple behaves: staying over at each other’s places, sleeping together, relying on one another… but Matthias still doesn’t ask Theo to date him because he already considers Theo to be his in that way. I don’t think he ever actually asks. And Theo… well. Theo doesn’t really think about it. But Matthias approached Theo first and he’s the one who made all the first moves. So… I would say him.

As for their relationship before they became serious… hm. Their relationship was always kind of serious from their very first interaction. With two characters like Theo and Matthias… there’s no way they could’ve been anything but that. But I do get what you’re really asking…

Since Theo is exactly his type, Matthias was drawn to him immediately, watching him across the room and leisurely enjoying the view. Matthias approached Theo at first the same way he approached all the men he wanted to sleep with—which is to say that he was charming and seductive. He did just want to fuck Theo at first, to be frank. But I will say that Matthias was kind of already ready to degrade himself for Theo from the moment they started talking. Theo is… very enticing. I mean, you’ve seen Theo. He’s gorgeous and he’s got an air about him that has you wanting more… He’s certainly captivating in his beauty but that quality of his that seems almost untouchable and uncaring is what really made Matthias crazy. Plus, Theo was rude. Matthias wanted him so bad he would’ve knelt then and there for him. 

Theo, on the other hand, didn’t want anything to do with Matthias. This isn’t to say that Theo had no interest in Matthias. Theo was… very attracted to him. The first word out of Matthias’s mouth made him shiver. Theo is a sensory kind of person, and the sound of Matthias’s voice paired with the distinct scent of his cologne… Theo was turned on pretty much the second Matthias got close to him. But Theo also has a lot of problems with a very certain type of man that Matthias fits the bill for: authority figures. Matthias gives a very strong impression. His bearing, his stature, his arrogance, his wealth, his voice… they all paint a very clear picture of who Matthias is and what he could be capable of. Or, they did in Theo’s mind, anyway. Theo makes a lot of snap judgments to protect himself and he’s very stubborn. He does not budge. And Matthias had the unfortunate obstacle of Theo’s acidic, distrustful personality to soften first before he could even try talking to him successfully. Now, I’m not saying Theo was exactly wrong here… Matthias is not a good person. Amoral degeneracy and hedonism… this is Matthias to me. So, yeah… Theo was very smart to avoid Matthias. But Theo was also misreading things almost intentionally because he was attracted to Matthias in a way he wasn’t used to. And he was also reacting to a trigger response. Prey animal fear. So.

When they met again, it was a little different. Matthias was interested in Theo for a much different reason. After Theo had so bluntly told Matthias off and showed how clearly he saw him, Matthias was intrigued. And Theo was… in a bit of a way. Plus, he didn’t remember meeting Matthias before. So the conversation was different. Theo’s guard was down. They talked, but nothing more. Matthias offered to dance with Theo, though, which Theo declined. 

They have more incidental meetings from there and Theo slowly drops his hackles. Not all the way, mind you, but enough that when Matthias slips Theo’s hair behind his ear and leans down to whisper to him, Theo allows himself to be guided someplace more intimate. Theo’s never had sex the way he’s had sex with Matthias. It scares him off. Matthias has to coax him back to him, which is no easy task… Theo can be very harsh when he’s scared. But Matthias likes being hurt and humiliated, doesn’t he? So. Not a problem for him. And the reward would be so sweet… so he takes his time. He warms Theo up. Theo’s aware of what Matthias is doing, but it’s not like Theo doesn’t want to have him again… his attraction to Matthias is even worse now that he knows what he’s like in bed. So he’s lured in so gently… and then they have sex again. And it keeps happening. But Theo doesn’t want anything else from Matthias. And all Matthias wants is Theo’s time. Matthias is infatuated and desperate and, yeah, a little pathetic. Theo is still detached and waspish but melts so, so easily when Matthias touches him just right.

throwback to when I was in elementary- I think 4th grade- and at Halloween, I was in my standard princess getup and there was this really pretty fellow dressed as the phantom of the opera- my favorite musical. I went to say hi and shake his hand, and he brought it close and kissed the back of my hand with a wink.

I don't understand how there are people still supporting your content after it's clear you are an emotionally unstable narcissist. I swear some people care about their dumb fandoms more than common human decency.

First - I refuse to let my lore posts, drawings and theories be called 'content'. I protest. It is a very soulless term that reduces creativity (the very expression of the soul, mind you!) to some sort of shallow and more importantly, replaceable good. "Why you consume the content from this PROBLEMATIC :( person" in the same vein as "Why you buy your car fuel from an unethical corporation" is absolutely absurd in any way, because creations are not physical goods but something unique.

Second, you seem to be confused on what the fandom entails.

Being a fan of something, in fact, doesn't... really entail all that much? Being a fan of something doesn't, and will NEVER mean that you subscribe to certain cultural, religious, political or humanity values or opinions, it will NEVER be only for the ones the loudest people in the crowd deemed "right" and "pure" enough, and certainly it will NEVER be only for people with clear history *cough cough* or people of "proper" mental state *COUGH cough*.

The only, and only, and only, and ONLY "requirement" for being a Bloodborne fan is - to care about Bloodborne. But, again, I think we the people that obsess with this or that media came to the conclusion that gatekeeping leads to another extreme - the whole thing with shaming artists that draw something not accurate, and think something not 100% correct to the canon is 'dirtying' the canon. You know, the whole 'oh you are fan of X band? name 40 songs' thing. So I think gatekeeping should be avoided unless someone appears who is both completely uneducated about lore AND tries to set their own rules.

But, yeah. Your confusion is likely caused by the fact that people who like Bloodborne... love to read about Bloodborne, and not about what user should be blacklisted and what character is this or that identity and what this or that character is "problematic" etc. I object the idea that certain game/movie/book/etc is only for "right" kind of people and I think we as society at this rate are capable of separating interaction with the fictional universe and personality/personal lives.

~ IT'S SPRING ~ WRITING PROMPTS

Vax’ildan wasn't usually one for "smelling the roses," as the saying went. He never had time nor did he ever, truly, feel safe. He was always watching for danger, checking the shadows for hidden traps and unsavory encounters. And, honestly, he wasn’t interested in slowing down. Someone had to protect and watch over the people he cared about, and he was happy to be the one to do it. 

But then he met someone he had a very hard time saying no to. Someone who lived in the light, energized by cloudless days and fresh air. 

It was about a week after their defeat of the Briarwoods in Whitestone that Keyleth took Vax’s hand, pulled him away from the library he was helping rebuild, and tugged him towards the edge of town where the farmland resided. 

“Keyleth, what are you doing? I was in the middle of something.”

“Everyone’s taking a break for lunch; you can do the same.” 

He sighed dramatically, but didn’t try to slip from her grip when he very easily could have. It took a few minutes before they arrived at one of the first farms. There was a small patch of grass that was alive and plush, a neon sign in the midst of gray and dead fields around it. It looked like they had culled most of the damage, though, and had started to replant, regrow. Keyleth brought him to the fresh patch and there waiting were two sandwiches. Nothing special or fancy–just a couple of ham sandwiches with cheese wrapped in some paper.

“Cheers,” she said, handing him his and tilting hers toward him.

With a resigned smile, he tapped his against hers, unwrapped the paper, and took the first bite.

“Come sit with me.” Keyleth took a seat on the grass, and, unable to deny anything she asked of him, Vax followed suit. 

“You’re doing great work out here,” he said, licking some crumbs from the corner of his lip. “Whitestone will be back to its former glory before we know it.” 

“I hope so. They deserve it after everything they’ve been through.” 

“Yeah.” 

They ate in silence for a bit, and once Keyleth finished her sandwich she leaned back and laid down on the grass, her hands resting behind her head. “Hey, look.” She pointed up at the clouds. “That one kind of looks like Trinket.” 

Vax looked up, craning his neck to see the cloud, and he felt Keyleth tug on the back of his tunic. 

“It’s a better angle like this.” 

Again, never one to deny her, Vax let her pull him back until he was lying down next to her, his hands now tucked together on his stomach. "Oh, yeah. It does sort of look like Trinket." He squinted a bit. "If he had the head of a donkey."

Keyleth bursted out laughing, knocking her side into his, and he found that when she settled back he wished she had stayed pressed against him.

"Thank you for bringing me here," he said. "This is really nice."

"You're welcome." Keyleth looked over to him. "Are you gonna head back?"

"Not yet. I want to stay here a bit longer."

He let one of his hands move from his chest, casually letting it fall right next to hers. He looked over, she smiled, and he slipped his hand into hers, perfectly happy to not move from their little patch of paradise and watch clouds until the sun went down.

it's more like an umbrella of AUs based on the same backstory and brand of selkie, and i do have designs for them in the baseline AU that i've been picking away at for a while, but fanworks and alt designs absolutely are welcome and i'd be honored :DDD

i need to post an actual writeup at some point, but tl;dr is that the pod five was born in was known for--among other things--having beautiful coats, which is the main thing that matters to selkie hunters like the ones who managed to find their cove. they got just enough warning to start evacuating without having time to get everyone out fast enough, and hiding won't save them for long if the hunters are focused on rooting them out...

...so they decided to gather up all the pups with the prettiest coats, and send them out in different directions as bait. the hunters can't catch all of them. and by the time they've gotten the ones they do manage to hunt down, everyone else will be long gone; maybe they'll decide it's not worth it to keep looking, and give up. 🙃

five was, you guessed it, one of those pups. the plan, if you can call it that, was for the kids and the adults who were sent with them to eventually meet up with the pod again when the coast was clear. this was not what rey did, at all. instead he took five and ran with no intention of ever going back, and proceeded to tell him a Highly Embellished version of events to make him more afraid of the world and easier to control, and also just to fuck with his head in general lmao.

things go pretty similarly to canon from there, up until the point where he ends up washing ashore in miami (or whatever fantasy equivalent you're going with); and that's where the variations in cast, scenarios, other setting details, etc come in from AU to AU. which! i mean, there can be variations from before that of course, that's just where it usually tends to branch off.

it's been a really fun set of AUs to play around with; i've done a lot of tossing it around with @thecottageinthedark, who among other things came up with the idea of five being a leopard seal selkie, because a) Holy Shit Murderbeast and b) this fucking face

While I appreciate the offer, I'm not much one for online venting, I mostly just wanted to explain why I was gone and where my mental state currently stands in regards to Villainous because of what happened. I do have people I can talk to about it in person, a therapist included, so please try not to worry about me in that regard! I’m in a good support system.

Hey! I was summoned by the tags you put under my post bc I also very much enjoy discussing ethics. I might make this into its own post so I'll try to not elaborate too much...

I think that I can't just decide for everyone if the difference between doing good for the sake of goodness or in order to save oneself matters, but for me, in most cases, including Dazai's case, it doesn't.

I like to believe that morality is a choice one can decide to make, and I don't think it's fair to take that away from them, regardless on how they might feel on the inside. It's a wonderful thing to act morally because it's your "natural" tendency, but I think people also have the right to do so deliberately, for a reason that they choose, without their choice being minimised. They're two different processes for sure, but if the outcome is good, then the action is a good action, and, if being moral is a choice, then I don't think I have the right to decide that only one intention or emotion that will lead there is good enough.

Also, doing good for your own sake and for the sake of others are mutually exclusive at all. One feeds the other, and if we were to put every person's actions under such scrutiny, we would ultimately run in circles.

So, for people outside the story, I would say that the debate does matter, but for the sake of the people involved, it doesn't, because the outcome is the same, especially since Dazai is so opaque as a character, and what he really feels about the things he does is so hard to read, so at the end of the day all most of them experience is his actions.

The consequences of one's actions, how much good they produced, are telling of it being morally right or wrong. I don't necessarily agree, but that's definitely a valid way to see it!!! I personally believe one's intentions are the most relevant aspect to take into account when judging whether and action is ethically rightful or not. Note that that is judging the moral of the action itself, and not giving a judgement on the person; people can have a million reasons to act selfishly, and in my very “humans are always inherently good” worldview more often than not it's caused by society rather than an actual preference to not be altruistic. But that doesn't change the fact that even a good action, if it isn't moved by good intentions, won't ever be passable of being morally right to me. Besides, then, wouldn't the other way round work to? Someone well intentioned, who's however incompetent, and ends up with their actions putting more bad in the world– as long as they're acting with a true desire to help others for the sake of it, their actions can't be considered morally wrong for me.

To clarify, with reference to your ask; I don't think people who do something for selfish reasons, and end up doing good, are morally rightful; but if they decide to do good, well, isn't that a well-intentioned aim itself? Then I think they stop being selfish to the extension that they consciously decide they're going to do good. That's not morally reprinandable at all.

Now, regarding Dazai... Honestly, I don't think Dazai is a good person. Because he never meant to do good for the sake of it. But now, the thing is, I don't think anyone in bsd is meant to be interpreted as good or evil– nobody, not Atsushi, not Mori, no one. When it comes to bsd– I do think bsd expresses a more or less nihilist worldview. And I know pretty much everyone else disagrees with me on this, I know, I'm sorry. But I do think there lies an undergoing message that good and bad are ultimately the same, and equally meaningless– it's there in Oda saying “Neither good nor evil mean much to you”, it's there in the way it makes you root for mafiosi like they were the good guys, it's there in the way Dazai never even considered to make amends for the bad things he's done (because they were never bad to begin with, because good and bad mean nothing anyway), it's there in the way it constantly shows good people doing bad and bad people doing good in a way that basically equalises them. To me there's really no point in discussing whether Dazai is good, because he is most evidently not, but that's only because he was never meant to be interpreted as such to begin with. Please refer to this post for further details; it's not surprising at all that Dazai switching over to the “good side” didn't come with a radical change of heart, and that he basically stayed the same, because how could he become good when that's no different than being evil, and those both mean nothing anyway?

And I know most people see bsd's core theme as finding a reason to live, and maybe it is, but even then I think that wouldn't be by denying its nihilism, but rather accepting it and finding a reason to live in spite of it: to me all of bsd really sums up in “that, at least, is a little more beautiful”.
