How about digital circus x princess! Reader with their very own castle. Elegantly leaning out of their tower singing lullabies for anyone to hear. Ps Keep up the great work 👍
TADC cast x princess!reader
I know I usually stress that I answer stuff chronologically but I misread this as just jax (I'm sleepy!!) So I went to search for a princess reader post i did weeks ago, snagged the link then reread the request and saw it was the whole cast... but I've already committed to the bit by searching for the link sooooooooo
Tumblr media
CAINE:
You and I both know hes goinv to use the fact ypure a princess for IHA... captured princess trope stuff, basically! So have fun with that! Absolutely loves your singing, so so much. Probably joins in with you, complimenting your part..or perhaps he hums.. other princesses have cute fairytale animals accompanying them, and you have..... bubble..... huh....
Really ups the whole... act when talking to you.. bows deeply, waves his arm around in a grand fashion when showing you to a room, ect ect ect
POMNI:
Has probably subconsciously/accidentally said you were pretty outloud. Gets absolutely lost in the sauce when you sing. Like just stands there, hands awkwardly clasped together in front of her as she listens. Probably sways side to side too. Gets very pink when talking to you, her face does the O^O thing... absolutely smitten
RAGATHA:
Ah my favorite, royal princess x common lady... well, at least aesthetically... whether or not you're royalty in the real world is debatable... anyways, that aside, I think this is probably one of my favorite ship dynamics... I love.. similar to pomni she is very bad at hiding her feelings around you. Tends to stare with a blushing face. Loves making you dresses; assuming you can swap out dresses considering the whole "their clothes are attatched to their bodies" thing
While I doubt your clothing can rip or tear thanks to the properties of the digital world, I think if she could, she would patch up any holes
KINGER:
Honestly I think out of this entire post, kinger is the only one who gets a platonic/found family take on this... just an old king and his princess kid. Again I'm not sure if he truly believes he royalty or if he was trying to appeal to the gloink queen by saying "as a royal myself.." but.. honestly I like the idea that he just likes playing the part. Like he knows hes not royalty but. You know? Let this man embellish himself
Pillow fort? No, pillow TOWER! No... pillow CASTLE! Pillow kingdom!!!
Nothing too hyped specific here he's just your dad here
ZOOBLE:
Oh? Cool. I mean your singing isnt really their cup of tea, they look like they're into alt/indie stuff tbh...maybe rock. Confession I'm terrible at identifying genres so I'm literally speaking out of my ass rn on what type of music zooble would listen to I'd have to list specific artists and songs
But this isnt about that
Depends on what kind of princess you are
If you're independent, resourceful, and badass I think you guys could build some chemistry
If you're like, damsel in distress, ,kind of stuck up, whiny, prissy, ect then it's a hard no
Not many ideas here tbh <\3
GANGLE:
Also thinks you're very pretty! Also loves your singing! I think she grew up on disney films, and even if she doesnt remember them it's still a core memory that like. is kind of instinctive atp. So she finds comfort around you, you know? LOVE that trope btw, where a character doesnt remember something but still finds comfort in it while not fully understanding why because as far as they know this is the first time with the thing
Absolutely melts if you compliment her. Sure, she would still melt if you weren't a princess.. but having someone so pretty and graceful saying it hits a certain way for her
JAX:

-Oop, almost forgot about today being the debut of the newest HB episode "Unhappy Campers" lol Lets talk about it!~ :>
Tumblr media
*Spoiler warning ahead for those who didn't see the ep yet-*
Soooo to start things off, lets get to the Positives!
*-M&M get to stand out more in the main A-story for a change, yay! 👏👏And even including a bit of drama for the couple to deal with as they started to clash over their roles in this "mystery"-solving; especially with Millie revealing to carry some insecurities over not feeling "appreciated" outside of a supportive role/killing-machine… poor girl :c Glad to see she was able to have her moment to shine on stage by the end while Moxxie "took care" of their suspect, the gal deserved that time to just let loose on her own, yknow? 🥺
*-The summer camp aesthetic was a fun change of scenery for the story here, and I liked the designs for characters like the blue demon client at the start, alongside Millie & Moxxie's human disguises ("Moxxine" & "Millard"), they were cute~ :3
*-While Blitz didn't play too big of a role here in the long run, his gentle coaxing to his sister Barbie Wire at the end to try and amend things was rather touching to see (not really seeming to mind her pronouncing the "O" in his name either, unlike with other characters)… even if ultimately tragic given her rejection at the end :(. I really hope we get more insight of their family background later, 'cause there's alot of story potential for Blitz to try and face the "shadows" of his past (outside of just general exes-drama), in a meaningful character building way imo 👍
*-Not quiiiite as strong on the humor aspect (which I'll get into in a sec-), but I'll admit there's still some good chuckle-worthy moments like the "kid-stuck-in-a-crater" gag, along with this one still-shot during the Blitz & Moxxie VS Barbie fight lol
Tumblr media
*-Nice to see a return of those Asmodean crystals, ever since their cameo in "The Circus" I've always been curious to see them in-action given their role as another portal-making item :o the crystalline-looking portals made from them look so pretty too~
As far as the Negatives of this ep are concerned? …Ehhhh-
*-As much as I enjoyed the M&M spotlight… I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the execution a bit… "clunky" at certain points ^^; Mainly on Moxxie's end 'cause… oof did he feel rather cringey at times, getting randomly hung up about some camp kids not liking him over Millie? :| Like… okay sure, its one thing to criticize her not prioritizing the "investigation" mystery as seriously as she should've… but I mean, you're basically doing the same thing trying to win over everyone as this ditzy teen girl, Moxx so like… who are you to talk? :/ Thankfully he got over that by the end and made things right by his wife but still… smh, dude >>
*-For a character as hyped up as Barbie Wire's been by the fandom since the pilot… I'm surprised that her first-ever reveal is only in the last few minutes of a B-plot? .-. Like… this is the long-lost sister of our main character, mind you, and her presence alone through that one photo in "Ozzie's" was enough to shake up Blitz to the core… so, why wasn't she given more of a major story to come back into her brother's life? 🤷‍♀️ I don't even mind that she's not interested in making amends with him atm (esp. with his stalkerish behavior here I can't really blame her tbh, as much as I love the guy- ^^;), but still…more additional context in-general could've helped make her debut a lil more interesting imo (same with Stella's brother Andrealphus).
*-Humor wise… ehhhhh yeah, some of it didn't really sit right with me tbh :/ Like, okay I get HB's always been a rather "raunchy" show since its inception, and I'm all for some clever adult humor when done right…
…But I mean, did we really need bits like M&M pretending to be "siblings" while disguised (when… idk why they couldn't have just pretended to be a regular teen couple tbh? .-.), only to then having that big "steamy" moment in front of a crowd of campers…? :| Idk, humor IS subjective at the end of the day so, I guess your mileage may vary on some of these joke executions… 🤷‍♀️
*-Pacing felt a bit imbalanced (again), with moments like the big ending fight scene feeling rather… "stiff", in some parts? : o Idk, probably could've benefitted from adding in a few more minutes or something to make it flow a lil better .3.
*-Fun as it was seeing Millie getting her own song for a change (that's not just another love duet with Moxxie)… idk, it admittedly wasn't the most memorable compared to some previous HB songs (minus the lil lyrics popping underneath like a cheesy music video, that was funny lol) 🤷‍♀️That and Moxxie's own "solo" attempt at the campfire scene was… again, cringey (though I think that was the point lol) :P.
-----
…Aaaaand yeah, that about covers my initial first impression thoughts of the ep! If I had to give my own rating again… prooobably somewhere around a C-rank? Again, I still enjoyed the M&M (+mainly Millie's) spotlight overall, but with the rushed-over Barbie Wire addition & some of the cringier humor bits… Iiii just don't know if I'd consider it among my fave eps anytime soon, imho ^^;

Match up mayhaps if you have the time?
My pronouns are She/Her, and I'm bi >:)
For my physical appearance, I'm African/Filipino, my hair is really curly and brown, and goes to about my shoulders and I'm tan. I'm 5'3" and on the heavier side, most of it is carried in my thighs and tummy :")(and it don't even make sense how much body fat i have with how active I am, smh, really annoying. Making me all insecure,, and for what?) my chest is also big tho, got them DD's lmao. I have brown eyes, they're kinda small tbh, and I wear glasses. My nose is kinda flat and big and my lips are even bigger lol
I tend to have varying aesthetics, I go from wearing fishnets, ripped jeans, band tees and docs one day to athletic clothing the next day and then wearing pink dresses and flats. I also wear a shit ton of flannels. It is overall in the alt type of feel tho. Sometimes I will gave more of a farmer look to me tho, not as soft as cottage core, but it looks like I've been out with cattle all day or doing gardening. Straight up, I look like a farmer, and I vibe with it. My nose is pierced and I have just lobe piercings rn(I want more tho).
As for hobbies, I am really interested in learning languages. I speak English, Italian and ASL, im currently learning Japanese, Spanish and Russian. I actually plan to double major in a foreign language and either saxophone or jazz, I'm not sure yet. But as you can probably tell from that, I'm also a band kid. I have over 20 instruments in my room that I play and I can play even more that I can't afford to buy. Music is a lot of my life, last year, I spent 40+ hours each week on band alone(I was in 4 different bands, marching, 2 jazz, and concert). I've been a musician since I was little. I actually have just been a performer since forever. I've danced, and still do dance. Currently I'm doing Folklorico, and that's what I plan to stick with. I have done ballet, hip hop, jazz, and tap. I'm also a circus performer, I mainly do aerial silks and flying trapeze, but I've also done hoops. At some point, I want to be a circus mermaid at some point tho. I really just love to put on a show for people. That's honestly just what I live for. Keeping people entertained is always fun for me, even if I get exhausted lol
I dont really have an ideal partner, just someone who i can trust and who trusts me. Also someone who will be willing to put up with how much I do and even maybe give me feedback on how something sounds or looks. My love language is physical touch and quality time, so if thats any help
I know this is a lot, sorry about that haha... but im super excited for it!!

Roaratorio: early morning reflection
Does 8am count as “early morning”? For me, it sure does!
I have been up since 6am with an active brain racing to type out project ideas lest I might lose them to the dream-world. This is not how I imagined my Saturday morning (the thought of sleeping-in was, and still is, appealing though that ship has sailed). I will use this quiet time to provide a small commentary on a cool event I attended this week. Though I type this from my bed, the light from the soon-to-be-spring morning ushers into my bedroom with an excitement that both inspires and makes me sad (for the possibility of sleep now feels far).
On Thursday evening, I went to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts for a program on John Cage and Merce Cunningham’s Roaratorio. A friend had shared this event via Facebook a few weeks ago and I was intrigued by its title and subject matter. Merce Cunningham is one of the most prolific choreographers of the 20th century and I've loved his work since I first encountered him through the Hunter College dance department some time in 2006/7. (I was still an infant in my relationship to modern/contemporary dance and his technique was incredibly challenging but fun. It was a brain/body puzzle that felt poetic and vaguely familiar.) Upon reading the brief description of the NYPL event, it was apparent that this work was one I had never seen or read about. The program title, Roaratorio: Cage and Cunningham's Irish Circus was enough to convince me into registering. It is the month of St. Patrick’s Day after all. My relationship to Irish culture has been complicated (particularly as a Staten Islander) and given how avant-garde and performative Cage/Cunningham’s work is, this felt an exciting context to celebrate a month so closely tied to Irish heritage and identity.
So, fun tidbit. I had absolutely no idea that this work was connected to James Joyce.
When I arrived just before the program started, an audio recording of James Joyce reading Finnegan’s Wake played overhead. I’ve never read FW save for a couple of pages over the years. But I am familiar with Joyce’s work (A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is one of my favorite books) enough to know that this evening would be rich with questions and fascinations.
The program was moderated by an articulate librarian whose calm (almost quiet) interest in the subject was endearing. Accompanied by live performance, video and audio excerpts, was lively discussion with the Music Curator at NYPL/PA, several dancers from Cunnigham’s company (Lise Freidman, an original cast member, and Patricia Lent), and Nancy Dalva (Scholar in Residence at the Merce Cunningham Trust). Lent and Friedman were captivating as was Dalva. Their reflections on working with Merce and being involved in this piece’s creation helped me visualize the process of being in the studio with a master. Working with Merce seemed a lifetime experience, one that still shapes and informs who they are as artists. Dalva brought such a poetic beauty to interpreting Merce’s work. I hadn’t read anything by her but soon after found her blog* and now consider myself a fan.
John Cage was compelled to create the radio play, Roaratorio: an Irish circus on Finnegans Wake, at the prodding of Klaus Schöning*. He worked from the book which he claimed he “never” read but was always around (he eventually did read it along with supporting texts, but we all have those books that sit on the table or shelf for years... ones we really want to read but perhaps the timing just isn’t yet right). His score traces the feeling, places and poetics of FW through mesostics, a device Cage and Cunningham used throughout their work and relationship* (and one I hadn’t thought much about prior).
The most in depth part of the program was on Cunningham’s choreography* supported by the thoughtful panelists, photos of his notes, and video material. The panel discussed his use of Irish dance steps, such as the jig, within his avant-garde 20th-century dance context. I always associate Cunningham with a balletic core but can now see traces of Irish movement in his vocabulary -- the upright spine (that then pushes off-balance), articulation and quickness of the feet, angularity of the arms, precision of jumps and lifts, all seem reminiscent of Irish dance. Or, at least for the night.

Toward the end, the moderator referenced something Merce wrote or said on his own aesthetic inclinations and how Joyce appealed to them. He mentioned fragmentation, collage, simultaneity, and the deconstruction of language. How very Joycean. These are all compelling to me as an artist and curator. These “poetic devices” (for lack of a better word) offer worlds of possibility in the creation and interpretation of a work. There is so much in Roaratorio that remains a mystery. I hope to one day see it performed live (a girl can dream, can’t she?).
This leaves me at a quote by John Cage that was cited within the program (I hope I get this right because I was scribbling down as much as a could): I myself enjoy things as long as they stay mysterious to me. This quote coupled with the poetic devices mentioned above, get at the fundamentals of what makes art interesting. The mystery, the unknown/unsaid--the space between. It is within that space that we make our own meaning (and get to argue about it after!).
End Notes: -Roaratorio: an Irish circus on Finnegan’s Wake (John Cage) was composed in 1979 for a radio series for Klaus Schöning of West German Radio https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaratorio
-The librarian showed us an archival page from Cage, a mesostic from Finnegan’s Wake using the words “Inlet/Travelogue.” Patricia Lent later pointed out that Inlets and Travelogue were pieces Merce worked on in the 1970′s, around the time Cage was working on this project. She also noted that they used mesostics in their letters and notes to each other. She mused that this could have even been a potential birthday note he was working on for Merce, which I found super endearing.
-Roaratorio, choreographed by Merce Cunningham to Cage’s radio play, was completed in 1983. https://www.mercecunningham.org/the-work/choreography/roaratorio/
-The video excerpt is from Brooklyn Academy of Music’s YouTube channel, from the 2011 presentation of Roaratorio as part of BAM Next Wave. I wish I saw it then but had no idea! I want to note that the costumes and lighting are so evocative (of what? I don’t know just yet!). I love them! Never read much into the element of costume in Cunningham’s work as I was more concerned with the choreography and structure but find myself thinking about it at present.
