I hate the entire AI craze. I’m not a luddite; I realise it’s here to stay in one form or another, and will probably be very useful in science, but the attempts to shoehorn it everyfuckingwhere are driving me up the wall. many people have already commented on how stupid it is that the first major niche they’re trying to mass apply AI to is art (digital art, music, films, animation). for me the totally insane suggestion that people would enjoy an uncanny valley fest that will be the AI-likeness of a beloved actor instead of the actor tops everything so far.

but even the more technical stuff that could potentially be handled by an AI one day - AI support bots (entirely useless for now), AI writing (incredibly boring, instantly recognisable, heartless drivel)... it’s not there yet, so why is every corp & business out there pretending that it is?

#the dystopia where AI-likeness of actors and musicians will be the norm is probably not that far away #but it's not now #not yet #sorry for the rant dudettes #I've been dealing with a dumb chatbot for two days now #and someone just reminded me about the indiana jones situation #so here we are
