I'm a journalist, a writer and a director.
I have a wide range of skills for over 10 years in TV and film production in front and behind the camera. I have dedicated my journalistic career to traveling the world to interview some of the biggest names among Hollywood actors and directors such as Nicole Kidman, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Kate Winslet, Clive Owen, Geoffrey Rush, Willem Daffoe and many, many others. I have created and hosted the first ever TV show dedicated to cinema in Bulgaria, I have attended many film festivals and red carpet events such as the Oscars, BAFTA, the European Film Awards and many more. One of my projects is a documentary series dedicated to the cinema world - "Cinema Confidential" (on Amazon Prime).
I have written and published four books and currently developing two of them for TV, I have a documentary in development and my debut short film "I know what you did" stars the magnificent British actor Michael McKell and is already an award winner from various festivals, I'm working on its feature version. For three years in a row now I have hosted the Q&A panels of Comic Con Bulgaria with the international stars, I was a jury member at the first edition of Huawei Smartphone Film Festival and I work on the organization of one of the biggest film festivals in Bulgaria - CineLibri. seriously i think the beautiful thing abt cherik is that beyond it just being a really fun ship, it reinforces the themes of the xmen to the point that if you view them solely as friends in many of the xmen films and comics, the entire story loses it's weight. like in x-men first class, the romantic subtext between charles and erik is so strong and so central to the plot, that the story just isn't complete without it. like sure, you can see them as friends with opposing views, but if you view them as lovers--two men who are inexplicably drawn to each other despite their differences, who desperately want to be together, but are forced apart by their opposing worldviews--the stakes are raised significantly.
and i fucking love that. so often when you have a gay ship, it all feels like wishful thinking, like "yeah i think these dudes are gay bc im gay and i wish they were bc it'd be cool" but with cherik the romantic subtext is so strong and so obvious that the story just isn't complete without it! by taking a story about people struggling between coming out and hiding who they are, and making the central interpersonal conflict about two gay men who are trying to be together but can't because they disagree about whether they should come out or hide, you are elevating the entire story! you're exploring how being marginalised affects people in their personal lives! you're conveying how the personal is political! you're raising the stakes of your story to make the audience sympathise and agree with two people who constantly disagree!
like, the queercoding just simply makes the story better, and i love that me viewing them as gay is not my queer brain making shit up, it's me reading between the lines at ideas that were put there very intentionally! the fact that all four of the actors playing charles & erik have said they see them as a couple, and that so many writers who have contributed to the x-men over the years see the x-men as a metaphor for being queer really adds fuel to the fire. and even though it's not explicitly canon, it just feels nice to know that i'm not an idiot for seeing queer people where they quite obviously are. i just love my gay mutants so fucking much, ya know?
