I took these pictures myself. Some of these books are old, some were just poorly handled over the years, and all were thrifted across the second-hand stores of Dublin.
I had the cutest and most romantic haul today. Whoever ordered two hardcover classic books from America (there's no Barnes & Nobles in Ireland), paid for shipping and their costs and then donated them to the charity shop, you are crazy and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was a treat to find them there, I got them for fifty cents a book. I got 'A Room with a View' by E. M. Forster and 'Little Women' by Louisa May Alcott.
I then found a heart-shaped pink candle and a whole load of cards. Tomorrow, I plan to go back and buy the rest of those cards. They have the most wonderful and romantic art on them. I'm so glad I got them, I wasn't going to at first because I had never bought cards for myself, (I'm not used to treating myself, books don't count because those are a necessity of life for me as taught by my mother) but at the last second I picked them up and I'm so glad I did.
Funny thing is, they were being sold cheaply and were flimsily wrapped in cellophane to keep them together. But when I turned them around I found that they all came from The National Gallery of Ireland, a gorgeous art gallery, and I know they would've cost a whole lot per one. But I'm not going to complain, I'll just be very grateful.
I reblog bookish content and since I have a home library I also make some of it myself. On my blog, you'll find pictures of books I've taken, book reviews, book recs, favourite quotes shared etc. Consult the pinned masterlist to navigate your way xx

Three books and one postcard that i found inside one of them:
The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. A Ghost in the Throat by Doireann ni Ghriofa. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Shwab.
Was not ever interested in reading 'The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue' right up until I came across the sexiest copy of a novel I've ever seen. it looks like some Fairy Crate edition or something. Very pretty, and a pretty book always makes it easier to read regardless of the whole 'never judge a book by its cover' thing.

thrifted bookish haul 4/mar/24

A novel, a short story anthology, a printed candle in the shape of an apple and a peculiar bookmark:
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The Story; Love, Loss and the Lives of Women short stories chosen by Victoria Hislop.
You've no idea the emotions I emoted, the internal scream I screamt when I saw that cloth bookmark in the design of a prayer rug. I had seen those kinds of bookmarks in aesthetic book pics on Pinterest and had no idea where to get them so coming across one in a charity shop, still in its plastic cover, was incredible.

Three books, two classics and one poetry anthology:
The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes & His Last Bow by Arthur Conan Doyle. The Return of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver.
I was so excited to have come across the Mary Oliver anthology because I've seen snippets of her poetry on various tumblr posts. I've been dying to get into poetry but it's hard to find something I vibe with.

Talking directly to the reader, here are some things for you to know if you are interested in my blog:
I love interacting with content and following accounts, if anything you write, picture, reblog or draw falls into my current obsessions feel free to follow me.
I especially have a soft spot for blogs that make their own content be it bookblr, writblr or studyblr.
I’m not stingy with my follow list, I follow back if the content you're posting is something that interests me.
I don’t mind like/heart spams, if anything I find them endearing.
Reblogs of my content are highly appreciated.
I am not comfortable following accounts that post/reblog nudity (occasional nudity in paintings does not count). So if you're that type of NSFW account pls don’t follow me, this is a SFW account.
I took these pictures myself. Some of these books are old, some were just poorly handled over the years, and all were thrifted across the second-hand stores of Dublin.
