This scene is just... This man had to pick up the woman that he loves. In complete fear that if he didn't carry her out of there she would die. They just had a terrible fight and she never wanted to see him again. He had to hold her closer than he ever has and listen to her fall apart. She calls out his first name like she rarely does, "Rick, please". When you think of the emotions and strength Castle had to go through to do this. Its overwhelming.

You love the way that John touches you, the reverence in it. His fingertips ghost over your cheek, tracing over the scar that’s embedded into your skin, the one that Rosalind carved into your face after she took you.

It was meant to disfigure you, to make you ugly but it doesn’t. To John it only makes you more beautiful because it’s a reminder that you’re alive, of how hard you fought to come back to him.

He’ll never forget that day, the anguish he felt, the agony.

“I’ve taken the person you love John, and we both know I’m not talking about the woman you sleep next to, we both know it isn’t Grace.”

She’d send the video then, of her cutting into you, of the blood running down your cheek in rivets.

When they’d found you, you’d been standing over Rosalind’s body with that knife sticking out of her chest. Rosalind, she had underestimated you, the lengths you would go to stay alive. You’d dislocated your own thumb while she was tormenting John, slipped the cuffs. The fight you’d put up it must have been excruciating because Rosalind, she hadn’t stopped cutting at your face. Your entire body is a testament to the torture you survived.

“You…” He murmurs as his lips trail over the damaged tissue that winds down the side of your neck. “…are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever had my hands on.”

You smile as your fingers thread through his hair because when John Nolan tells you something like that, he makes you believe him.
