— Neteyam !
Tumblr media
Anchored. Unrelenting. Sizzling. Neteyam’s mind was anchored, his heartbeat unrelenting, and his body sizzling over your dampened frame. The propinquity he shared with you allayed him, the water’s ambience soothed him. Shallow were Awa’Atlu’s pristine oceans for each gentle wave covered you both lying within it, complying to the silhouette of his body lithe and tendered into yours.
A rarity of a sight it was to witness him, Neteyam the strong and mighty warrior, in a state of relaxation, for he habitually carried a solemn countenance, resolute in his duties. As not only the eldest son but older brother, the golden child, he adhered dutifully to his responsibilities. And you, trainee under your mother, Tsahik, in hopes to become your Clan’s future Tsahik were in freedom from its worries for the time being, in freedom of being the eldest child and daughter, something that had drawn one another together. The profound joy derived from sharing tranquility with someone who served as the paramount source of it marked an unparalleled and cherished experience, and you liberated him all those titles as he liberated you, giving each other the simplest and most valuable one yet: your Neteyam, his Y/N.
Tucked beneath the outline of your jaw was his head, the wet entwines of his hair grazing your turquoise flesh with every movement of his burrowing deeper into your neck. The shore’s aroma was strong from the current breeze laced with the currents, the aromas you’ve inhaled, embraced and adored your entire life; but Neteyam’s potent fragrance was the single one that inebriated you in this moment. Pandora’s multicolored fluorescence illuminated the ocean’s vibrant blues, clashing breathtakingly with both your distinct tones under the night sky. This felt right, this felt nice and tranquil. Something you knew he needed far more than you ever did.
You felt the brims of his lashes fluttering, hearing him breathe in the pure essence that is solely yours, and this dragged a shuddering sigh from your lungs. You raised the three of your fingers and let them trace down his spine, tips soon straying from its path to outline his endearing stripes, to memorize the star-like specks shimmering upon his rich blue contours. The lingers of your ascend elicited a shiver from the young warrior, an elicit you hoped for.
“That feels nice…may you do it again?” You couldn’t help the giggle bubbling up your throat at his request, so sweet, so polite in asking even when eager for your touch, so Neteyam. Not a second of the day goes by without the lightest of contacts with you, always savoring each and every touch you gave his being and you could never ever deny him the privilege, so of course you more than willingly agreed. There it was, that sound of acceptance, that feel of content that you chased when with him, it is what you savor; to gratify him, to fortify him.
“I have made you a gift for you, ma ‘Teyam,” Your soft utterance brought his head to lift from its haven within your warmth while his lips twitched. “You did not need to do that, my love. I can conform with the gift of your presence. That is all I need and want.” His fingers rose to softly thread through your dark tresses, chuckling at the pretty purse your lips now formed despite the flush pigmenting your cheeks.
“Rutxe, Neteyam ( please ). I did it for you out of my love. Please allow me to show you, and please accept it because it took some time to make it.” He knew denying you was a task he had never done, and Neteyam knew he could never even comply with it when it came to you. Those alluring swirls of blue orbs you carried relished him to let out a deep sigh but reluctantly agreed, for he did not want your efforts to go to waste, much less when it was made from the affections you held for him.
You lightly tapped his shoulder and he pushed himself away from you, much to his dismay, though he was genuinely intrigued as to what you have made for him. Your fingers reached behind your neck, unclasping a necklace above one he had given you with, though he hadn’t been aware of though the way it was woven had been familiar, and his golden hues brimmed confusion at how there was another similar with its design like the one now in your palm, displayed for him to catch the way the one you held carried a vibrantly blue stone in the middle, assisted with 2 tiny stones accompanying each side.
“It is a necklace.”
You nodded happily, bringing his wrist out of the water and had him splay his fingers out to place the jewelry there. Your translucent gaze caught his own and smiled at how curiosity colored his beautiful features. “Would you like me to put it on, pretty boy?” His eyes resisted from rolling at the nickname given, but he would admit it had grown quite noticeable on him; his ears batted bashfully from the sound, his tail swaying in anticipation, creating cute splashes against the ocean that made you giggle beneath his playful glare. “Yes, please.”
He settled himself in front of you as you kneeled, carefully moving the longer length of his single braid before it was assisted by the myriad of his much thinner ones. You smiled to yourself at the way he exhaled deeply from your feathering touches, and you knew that he was waiting patiently for you to elaborate the reason for your gift. “I know how much you miss your home, so with the help of your sister and mother, I made this out of the material you used back in the Forest.”
He turned back with a softness in his eyes, and he caught onto the similar lace accentuating your neck had, the one he’d given you; the middle being an oval-shaped, light blue stone while assisted by soft colored stones. He stayed quiet, knowing there was more you wished to say, but his heart couldn't help but feel concerned at the way your ears so very slightly flattened alongside your head. “I know my father said you are Metkayina now…but I am sure that if Eywa gave you the chance, that when conflict is over, you’d like to go back with your People–”
“If that ever were to happen, I would not leave you, if that is what you are thinking. I will come back to you, Y/N.” He was in haste to reassure those doubts, those fears, not wanting to think or continue a life without you by his side, without you as his future mate. Neteyam did not know anymore what path has been set for his family or himself, but he much rather it be one with you in it and him in yours. To which is why he paused for a moment before he reached to take his necklace off. His fingers then slithered between the long cascades of your locks and to the nape of your neck without tearing his eyes from yours, and unclasped your own necklace.
“Neteyam, what–” Unaware you were to the exchange he’d done, the necklace made for him now adorning your neck while yours adorned his. Your eyes shyly peered up, chest blossoming a rareness of warmth as he gave you a precious smile and interlocked his fingers within yours. “We now wear each other’s, so we carry a part of the other everywhere. No matter how far away we are from each other, no matter the time, no matter the People, I am and will forever be yours, Y/N.”
Gleaming and utterly gorgeous was your smile, and he took in the purity of your beauty, of your love. “And I, too, am and will always be yours, Neteyam.” He kissed you, sweetly and delicately yet enough to have your mind and heart soaring higher than you ever thought possible. “Wherever, whenever.”
He gave you one more of his precious smiles before settling back down into your neck, soft kisses brushing and accompanied by the water’s light current across your skin.

— Kiri !
Tumblr media
There was noise, some semblance of it at least, you thought. Yet Pandora’s outside world was reduced with every word spewing from Kiri’s lips. You decided then and there that no other melody could vanquish the one she created, not even your songcord – of course, you’d never say that aloud to anyone besides her.
Kiri, the Na’vi girl with humanistic features that everyone in Awa’atlu thought to be odd, even you. Yet not the bad kind, never the bad when it came to the Sully girl. Beyond compare and contrast was her beauty, alluring was her smile. It was easy to get lost in it, so effortlessly to overawe its brilliance.
Kiri’s feet very lightly whirled within the translucency of the waters, the glittering light of Pandora’s tiny fishes circling her motions. You scrutinized her every expression though, smiling at the way her eyes brimmed with thrill down at the little creatures while your focus remained solely on your Kiri.
Something then fell from her lips – a subtle tug down following afterwards when she turned to look at you. Her once lax-hold on your hand was quick to direct and persistent, and this time your gaze fell to your twined fingers and smiled even more at the sight. But to reassure her, your thumb grazed over the back of her palm lovingly and gave a small nod. Kiri protested your dissociation for she was not indulgent with it in this second, not amused of your dazing irises. If only she could know one did not – couldn’t or shouldn’t ever be allowed to dissociate when around her existence. If anything, the only possibility for you was to associate with her. Kiri, despite the silent and rather be reserved with her thoughts and emotions, was so worth listening to, so worth being able to associate with the way her eyes twinkled brighter the the fluorescence Pandora had to offer, dimming every light encasing you as you sat at the edge with your feet dangled in the water, life wavering you as the night’s stars shimmered.
“I don’t think my family believes that I can feel her, Y/N.” She rolled her eyes with a soft scoff, the act that anyone else would believe as disrespectful and angry but you knew her; you knew this facade, how much this tethered her heart with hurt and sadness. And you also knew – witnessed the strong connection Kiri had with Eywa, and even if you hadn’t you believed in her word with no doubts, no hesitations. Of course, she was reluctant in how you quickly believed her but you reassured the Omaticayan girl. You gave her the closest thing there was to feeling like she did belong, like she did have something – someone to emotionally open up to and depend on. She then smiled softly, “But as long as someone believes me, that someone being you, I think I can settle with tha–”
“I think I’m in love with you.”
The sudden blurt of your declaration halted her words. The rareness of a blush pigmenting beneath those glittering star specks across her cheeks. You didn’t see it because her face dipped down as quick as it came, yet you didn’t need to. You knew Kiri, purely and confidently. “I made you something, by the way.”
Her head lifted at your words and her nose scrunched. “Why, out of all days, today?”
“Your brother had told me something about … a festivity Sky People have. One your father said they had back on their planet.” You paused, eyes averting. “He asked me for help in making something for Tsireya and while I did…I was convinced to make you something.”
Her eyes squinted as if trying to recall this holiday before realization settled in and a groan erupted from her throat. “That festivity is so cheesy, I swear. Why would you make me something?”
You shrugged, a bit confused as to why she thought this, “The way he spoke about it intrigued me… you do not want the gift then?”
Her eyes widened and mouth pursed. “But I didn’t get you a gift.”
“Having you is more than a gift.”
She groaned once more, but it was a mirthful sound. “You need to stop hanging out with Lo’ak. And my dad maybe. But okay, fine…let me see it.”
You grinned widely and brought your legs out of the water to retrieve the gift and returned with it hidden behind your back as you settled down, “Give me your feet.”
“Perv. Why out of all things my feet?”
“Kiri, please just listen! – What is a perv?” You shook your head before bringing one hand to her knee. “Never mind – Come on… it is nothing bad.” Her brow was hitched up high, letting a few beats go by until she sighed and gave in, propping both her dampened feet over your thigh. “Now what?”
You goofily grinned at the glare she gave you when you squeezed her foot. “Close your eyes.”
She narrowed her eyes even more , trying to inspect and unravel what you were up to. “If you tickle my feet, I will personally end you.”
“Everyday in your presence, you end me by taking my breath away.” That brought out a groan and laugh, her eyes crinkling beautifully. “You’re so corny, I swear. But fine, let’s get it over with.”
You chuckled but continued, fingers very lightly curling around her ankle and wrapped the piece you had made for her, occasionally letting the tips of your fingers stray the heel of her foot. “Stop! Y/N, that tickles, stop it or I will open my eyes!” She’d huff at the whispered giggles you would let out, trying to keep the deep furrow between her brows and yet with every joyous sound you made, she could no longer contain the warm smile curling her mouth. You adjusted the piece on the other ankle then, smiling proudly at your work. “Open them.”
Kiri’s lashes fluttered as she complied and very quietly gasped. Her feet had been embroidered with incredibly crafted barefooted sandals, the color scheme assisting browns, yellows, and green tiny fragments of trinkets, and she recognized the patterns to be similar to the necklace around her neck, the one that once belonged to her mother.
Her head snapped to you. “W-what, how did you—”
You smirked, “It helps hanging out with your brother and dad.”
Golden irises broadened in awe as she retracted her feet from your lap, her leg bending as her fingers brushed over the fine jewelry. “How did you even make this?”
“It took time…and a few minor injuries with the beads, but nothing my mother couldn’t fix,” She looked down at your hands, tiny and faint cuts scattering your digits and palms and she frowned. “You skxawng,” she lightly hit the back of your head but reached for your hands, bringing them close to her face and placed a soft kiss over each scratch. “You beautiful, considerate, lovable skxawng.”
“Don’t know if I should feel insulted or flattered,” you chuckled out. She giggled, bringing one of your palms to her cheek and the pads of your fingers stroked her bangs, giving her that heartwarming look that always mollified her insides. “Thank you, Y/N…but I still didn’t get you anything.”
You waved her off, “Do not worry about it… though I do have another surprise.”
“Again, I didn’t get you anything!”
“You didn’t need to! Look –” You outstretched your leg over her lap revealing your ankle being bejeweled with a similar patterned anklet. “I'm matching with you now!” She grinned widely and feathered her touch over it before wrapping her hands around your leg and tugged you closer. “I love it. I love you, in fact.” she didn’t give you time to respond because her complete enamour with you led her to kiss you soft, firm, lovingly.

— Lo’ak !
Tumblr media
“My dad had told me of a celebration the Sky People once had on their planet — a celebration that included gift giving.” Gift giving that included the special gift in a pocket tied to Lo’ak’s loincloth, unaware to you.
“Really?” You smiled, a wonder and intrigue morphing your features. “That seems like something we do here when courting your future mate! Is there a name for this celebration?”
“Valentines Day. That is its name…but it’s not only about the gift giving, if not the motive behind it.” The swaying motions your interlocked hands created slowed down as the tips of his fingers pressed deeper into your skin. “Oh? And what is that, ma Lo’ak?”
He smiled briefly at the nickname given, a reflection of what his mother called his dad, and the love they shared swelled his heart of the love he shared with you. “To celebrate any sort of connection with your loved ones. Preferably friendship, admiration…love.”
“Lo’ak, what is this?” The melodic sound of your giggles normally mesmerized him, eased his nerves with the soft joyous sound. Today, under the setting eclipse should be no different, for this is how you spend your evenings together; hands clasped together, swinging through the air while the both of you strided through Awa’atlu’s sands, the winds astoundingly tousling through the rich ringlets of your hair, and you’d both soothe each other’s struggles of the days with sweet words and gentle touches.
But today, his nerves could not be tamed by even you, his sweet girl, as he stopped his steps indicating you to do the same, and stood in front of you with a shell-made case in his tight grasp, his saffron colored eyes looked anywhere but those cerulean ones he adored endlessly. The points of his ears flitted from his resistance of emotions while his tail lashed, and your smile faltered with the final sign that indicated his nervousness; the way he practically chewed off the corner of his lip, incisors puncturing into the flesh.
“Lo’ak, what is wrong — are you okay? Is something the matter?” The soft tone and light touch of your hand on his clenching one brought his gaze up, and his brows knitted in awe at the delicacy of your features, of the ocean pools you carried. He swallowed hard, briefly smiling with a nod.
“D-do you know what a ring is?”
A subtle quirk resided between your eyes but nodded. “I do not wear them…but I do know what they are. A type of jewelry worn on the hand, yes?”
He nodded, thumbs tapping over the shell’s thin dents. “What does it mean to you? I-if I gave you one? For this celebration of love that Sky People have?”
Your lips parted and the corners threatened to lift into a smile, but kept quiet as you observed his expression. “I would be more than happy… especially if it came from you—”
“But do you know the purpose of a ring? What would it mean to you?” He felt the pulsing of his heart, practically heard it and wouldn’t be surprised if you too could, for the way its wild and profound beating hammered against his chest with each pump of blood in and out of the organ.
You thought for a moment, trying to connect a response that would somehow calm him. The three of your fingers fiddled over the five of his, smiling at the way his deeper blue tones contrasted with your aquamarine ones, coming together as one. “It will be an act of affection on your part if you did. And I would cherish it very much. Though I do not know the…actual significance of a ring.”
His father had told him of the ways humans bonded to each other for eternity without the intimacy of tsaheylu, of how all the things tied to love were forged into a single promise, a single piece of jewelry such as a ring.
“Why did you never get mom a ring then?” He recalled Tuk questioning, and he would only chuckle while scratching the back of his neck. “Your mom isn’t fond of human things and the Na’vi’s got their own thing for marital acts, baby… besides you need five fingers for this to work.”
But that did not matter to him, not in this case, because when he heard and unraveled the details behind a ring, he found it to be beautiful and significant. You had been one of the greatest things that have ever occurred to him since the Sky People returned. Since he had to flee from the only home he’s ever known. Since the death of his big brother. And in the months that he has known you, in the months living in uncertainty and fear only for it to be washed away by those ocean eyes of yours, he found a firm certainty in something after a long time; about the love he felt for you, about you deserving something that beautiful, that significant. “Why do you ask?”
Because within this shell, the shell you and I happened to catch from the bottom of the ocean and you praised me for it, is a ring that isn’t exactly for marriage but as a promise to you of my undying love and promising future I will make sure to have with you. Because I am certain that I do not ever want to lose you, because you have seen me at my worst when he died. I cannot risk going on without you.
Another bob motioned up his throat before his shaking fingers opened the case in his palm, catching onto the soft gasp emitted from your lips.
“Dad told me the meaning, and I learned that it signifies an eternity of love; no beginning, no end. That the hole in the middle, it’s a gateway that leads to things and events known and unknown.” His accent was increasing its thickness as he spoke, internally cursing and hoped that you could still understand him. “The marital ring means forever, and I know that I want forever with you,”
It took you a moment to recognize the chiseled figure over the twig-like band — a single pearl in the middle, twinkling and impressively tiny trinkets embedded around the band. You knew it must’ve taken the Omaticayan boy quite some time to create this. Though you then caught a glimpse of a new necklace around his neck, one that assisted a pearl similar to the one upon the ring .
“But in the meantime, I want to give you what they call a promise ring, a-and when the time comes, I can….if you’ll take me, be your mate. Forever.”
Tears glistened the vibrancy of your irises, threatening to fall down your cheeks, clogging the words within your throat. All you could do was create a wobbly smile as he took ahold of your hand and slipped the ring around your middle finger, sliding perfectly into place.
“And as soon as everything gets cleared out, as soon as we hit that age, I won’t hesitate in making this the real thing, h-how does that sound to you?”
The sudden wrap of your arms around his shoulders and the soft pecks meeting his face spoke the answer, and he chuckled against your lips. “Happy Valentine's Day, baby.”

notes. i got this idea from that one scene with tsireya and lo’ak then noticed how humongous na’vi hands are and the cogwheels started turning in my head. i had to look up their heights and do a comparison chart to make it accurate lolol. so i hope you guys enjoy this one ^^
Tumblr media
NETEYAM・✶ 。゚
he was visibly confused when you asked to compare hand sizes, eyes flicking back and forth between his hands to yours. when it came to neteyam, he was a little more cautious, especially growing up around three troublesome siblings. there always has to be a catch when it comes to silly requests like these.
but after a few moments of awkward silence, he ends up obediently holding up his hand to you, earning a pleased smile from you.
“are you playing tricks on me right now?” neteyam had to make sure in case the situation calls for any medical attention. kiri and his grandmother weren’t that far off from you guys.
“no i’m not, swear,” you laughed, raising your own hand towards him.
the air felt weirdly tense as he felt your soft palms brush against his, a strange warmth enveloping inside his chest. for all the times you guys have physically touched each other, whether it be to tend each other’s wounds or when he mindlessly latched onto your waist whenever he feels like there’s a threat approaching, he has never felt that intimate towards your touches.
neteyam watched the pads of your fingers drag itself into the calluses of his palm, it made him slightly jolt from the ticklish sensation and you couldn’t help but quietly giggle at his reaction. he gave you a playful glare that silenced you, but there was still a smile on your face. finally, you laid your hand flat over his— mirroring his outstretched fingers. neteyam realized how much your hands were completely different from his.
he noticed how your fingers were a lot shorter compared to his. if he could close his hands into a fist right now, your hand would be completely engulfed by his slim fingers. this shouldn’t be a surprise to him, you were a lot more shorter than him by a whole foot— always having to crane your neck whenever the two of you talked or when he always teases you for being short. but somehow, neteyam felt like he just learned the secret to pandora. it made him melt inside a bit.
he couldn’t help but think your hands are adorable.
“you have baby hands,” neteyam teases, his fangs flashing in his smirk. “tiny and soft.”
there was blush that appeared on your cheeks, your eyebrows crinkled at his teasing, “they're not that small!”
your mind couldn’t quite register the fact he also called your hands soft. it made you feel even more flustered.
his long fingers smoothly wrapped around your entire hand, restraining your hand completely. you tried to wiggle your fingers out of his firm grasp, but there was no use. you nodded in a defeated agreement, he was right— your hands are completely tiny. but with someone like neteyam, he needed to hear it from you verbally.
“say it,” neteyam can be such an ass sometimes.
you rolled your eyes, tongue suddenly feeling heavy with denial. but you knew neteyam wouldn’t let go of your hand until you admitted it. childishly, you stomped your feet a couple of times before you spoke again.
“i have baby hands,” your voice slurred with anger.
neteyam smiled in satisfaction and slowly released your hand. you quickly snatched away and petted the delicate skin of your hand— comforting it after being restrained by his rough touch.
after that, neteyam would always hold onto your hand whenever you went anywhere together. it could be when you guys hunted in the depths of the forest or just out of comfort, but there was always one sly comment about the softness of your skin or how tiny your hands are. your hands are so cute, he would whisper teasing remarks until your ears grew red. the other sully’s caught on and started to tease you as well. now you have to deal with even more relentless teasing whenever you come to visit them. as a result, your new nickname became “baby hands.”
although he could tease you about your small hands, you could always get him back for liking them.
Tumblr media
LO’AK ・✶ 。゚
he quietly watched you mindlessly trace circles on his blue palms, his other hand supporting his leaning form. you guys had ventured out into the lush forest, resting in a secluded area that you found together that one night lo’ak ran off to train by himself. lo’ak always had a swell of adoration towards you, there was no denying that.
whenever he got injured from flying his banshee too close to the floating mountains, he would come straight to you. sometimes he would even fake his own injuries, repeatedly slamming himself into a random tree— brash and completely mindless. at the end he would be groaning on the ground and clutching himself in pain. witnessing his weak form nearly gave you a heart attack, you quickly aided him back to health after that.
one thing he noticed from each interaction was how soft your hands were. they felt feathery to the touch, it was like you didn’t even touch him at all. the brush of your fingertips could put him under a permanent trance. kiri was always so rough with him when it came to healing, pressing so hard on him that it could add more bruises to his already-beaten body. but lo’ak came to the conclusion that kiri was purposely bad at healing him. lo’ak wasn’t really surprised.
“lo’ak, i need you to answer me honestly,” your gentle voice sent him back to reality, he had to blink a few times to focus on you again.
you still traced your fingertips on his palm, but this time he felt you drawing little hearts and some words he couldn’t form together— maybe he could figure out what it means later.
he nodded at you.
“are you purposely hurting yourself?”
oh shit he was caught.
lo’ak fidgeted a bit but didn’t dare to move, not wanting to disrupt your comforting traces on his palm. he knew that he shouldn’t lie to you, it would only make you worry even more. so lo’ak inhaled a deep breath and looked into your eyes.
“yes i have,” lo’ak sighed when he remembered how he would beat wooden sticks onto his calves and shoulders. “i just…wanted to be closer with you.”
your eyes flicked in worry as you stopped tracing his palm, instead you held his hand tightly, “you should’ve just asked lo’ak, you didn’t have to hurt yourself.”
lo’ak looked away in guilt, the images of your eyes prickling with tears and the worried cries from his own mother filled his thoughts. once again, lo’ak felt like a burden to the people he loved.
the chirps of the wild animals and the rustle of leaves played in the background, your sad gaze slowly moved onto his fourth finger— something lo’ak felt slightly insecure about. he was about to pull his hand away out of embarrassment but your three fingers slowly latched around his pinkie, they wrapped perfectly around it.
so small, he thought.
lo’ak stuttered a bit, none of his words could form cohesively. his heart was pumping faster at the foreign contact, but he tried to keep it cool.
“you better ‘pinkie’ promise me this lo’ak,” your voice was stern and powerful. “that you’ll never hurt yourself again.”
“i promise,” lo’ak gave you a reassuring smile, earning a relieved grin from you.
you guys both stood together, silently agreeing that it was time to retire for the night. your smaller hand was still latched onto his pinkie, the softness of your fingertips sent blood rushing to his face. there was also something that he really wanted to ask you.
“how do you know what a ‘pinkie’ is?” he wiggled his pinkie in your grasp, he saw you look away for a moment until you sighed softly.
“i asked your dad what it was,” you looked at your own hands, wiggling your three fingers in the humid air to avoid his gaze. “i was just curious.”
lo’ak couldn’t help but laugh out loud at your cuteness. he leans in closer to give you a heavy kiss on the cheek— rendering you completely flustered. he’s going to be teasing you for a while.

Outsiders - Neteyam
[ Neteyam x Metkayina!reader ]
Summary: Despite your uninterests in getting to know the Omatikaya guests, you’d somehow managed to capture the attention of the eldest brother and Neteyam messed up by doing the one thing your brother told him not to. Plus Lo’ak being the captain of the ship.
Warnings: none
Word Count: 2,033
Tumblr media
Just as expected, there were no particular signs of interest your siblings found in you when Omatikayas showed up on the shore, but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t curious upon their arrival.
“She will show up.” You faintly heard Rotxo quietly say to Ao’nung as you approached the commotion.
A glimpse of your father and mother speaking to an Olo'eyktan had you pushing through the crowd to get a better view. You could see your sister already examining the outsiders alongside your brother, being fairly kinder than he was.
“See,” remarked Rotxo as he spotted you making your way over to them.
Their banter over you was not uncommon. It never bothered you and you could care less with what they were whispering about now when you knew they had no ill intentions. Instead, you shifted your attention to the family standing before you and eyed each of them individually.
The littlest one was hiding behind her mother’s leg, the other girl looked exhausted and the younger boy had his eyes glancing at your sister too often to your annoyance.
You glanced at the eldest just as he did too, noticing you for the first time. The corners of his lips curved upwards to form a subtle smile in an attempt to seem friendly, which others might have missed but your brothers didn’t.
It wasn’t the smartest friendly attempt, considering how it only deepened the distaste of your brother into sneers and scowls.
“If he hasn’t already, he’s going to take interest in you,” whispered Ao’nung, though he didn’t seem pleased to know that. “You’re alluring. Stay away.”
“I won’t even do anything!”
“Exactly.”
“Shh,” interrupted Tsireya.
You shot a glare towards your brother in annoyance. He knew you wouldn’t even be interested in seeing them, let alone talking to them, yet somehow he was so sure that they’d approach you on their own
“They won’t even care, Ao’nung.” You had been so busy furiously thinking of arguments against your brother that the call of your name spooked you.
“They will teach you our ways,” your father said, earning immediate complaints from your brother whilst Tsireya obliged and wasted no time in leading the guests.
There was no doubt that your sister could handle them, and your siblings wouldn’t expect you to be interested in teaching them either. And they weren’t wrong. You’d prefer entertaining the kids running around the sand than guiding them.
“Where’s your other sister?” asked Kiri when she noticed your absence.
Neteyam hung back with Lo’ak as their parents busied themselves gazing at the village. The place still felt foreign to them, and even more so when they knew they’d be staying here.
“Doing something else. She’s not used to outsiders.” Tsireya did not stop to reply, the words coming off her tongue as if she had practiced it a thousand times.
Lo’ak raised his brows at the mention of another sister. He was too caught up fuming at Rotxo and Ao’nung to even notice you, but he doubted any of them were used to outsiders either.
“The quiet one.” Neteyam replied to his unspoken question. “The interesting one.”
“Go anywhere near her and we’ll tie you up with your baby tail.”
“Relax, she’s all yours.” Neteyam held his hands up in defense. He didn’t understand why they were getting so defensive over you although he barely even looked your way. Lo’ak was ogling at Tsireya and they didn’t seem too bothered.
Something was off about you, especially when you’d so rarely make yourself visible to any of them for days. He would’ve expected the daughter of the Olo'eyktan to be difficult to miss, especially when they all expected you to help teach them the Metkayina ways. And to be truthful, you just enjoyed doing your own thing that does not involve the outsiders.
“Father’s expecting all of us to join them.” Your annoyance was clearly visible. You weren’t even needed. They could handle this on their own without you, and your father knew that.
“Fine.”
-
You left them alone for two minutes and somehow they were already taunting each other when you came back. Your sister was called to help mother, much to your dismay, and you were putting back the saddles of the ilu.
“Lo’ak,” you heard Neteyam warn as you returned to the group behind Ao’nung, giving some distance.
When Lo’ak approached and flexed his fingers around, you knew what was coming before the punch actually landed on your brother’s face.
“Rotxo, stop!” you yelled, pulling him back by his hand. He shook you off easily, dismissing your warnings.
You looked to Neteyam who sighed, as if he’d witness this too many times. The older brother easily beat up Ao’nung and his friends in Lo’ak’s defense, scolding Lo’ak afterwards.
“Come on,” Ao’nung waited expectantly for you to follow them. He sensed your hesitance and saw the way your eyes roamed back and forth between them and the Omatikayas, and finally decided to leave without you.
“In my defense, you got to show off in front of her,” said Lo’ak groggily, nodding to you.
“Excuse my brother and his unrefined mouth.” Neteyam received a weak punch for that and the tiniest smile from you. He didn’t comprehend why, but Neteyam smiled at your amusement and from then, the annoyance you felt from having to teach them disappeared. Just slightly.
“Do I have to face dad?”
“Yes. Until then keep out of trouble. I mean it Lo’ak.”
It was safe to say Neteyam was impressed that his brother managed to not utter a single provoking word until he had to face their father.
“Hey.” Neteyam spun to the sound of your voice. It was nearly sundown and you were standing outside his room. “Sorry about my brother and his friends. I can still teach you how to control your breathing if you’d like.”
The mindful part of him knew he should go find his brother who hadn’t been visible for a long while, but the selfish part of him allowed his interests to take over. And this time, he allowed something for himself for once. Besides, Lo’ak should stay out of trouble after his last encounter with dad.
“Yeah. Sure.”
You nodded towards the shore and Neteyam jumped off his marui to follow you. It took great effort to avoid bumping into any of the children running around and splashing water.
“The secret to increasing your lungs’ limit is to slow your breathing and allow them to slowly adapt,” you said, pushing him back by the chest with both hands so that he sat down.
“Breathe from here.” You were only showing him parts of his chest and abdomen, but he couldn’t help the increasing pace of his heart as your hands felt around his chest. His eyes locked on your face the entire time in an attempt to focus on what you were saying, but the words that came out from your mouth sounded foreign to his brain.
“Your heart is beating really fast.” You frowned. “Slow down.”
Neteyam nodded, but when you felt his heart keep its frantic pace, you sighed and removed your hands from his chest.
“We’ll try this again tomorrow with my sister.”
-
Neteyam did the one thing Ao’nung told him not to do. He found himself coming up with excuses to see you and he was just about subtle enough that even Tuk noticed.
“I just made peace. This time I think you’re going to be the one to mess things up.”
“I’m not doing anything.” They both knew it was a lie and Neteyam was fully aware of that.
“Can you show the way to our marui? They all look the same,” Lo’ak mockingly mimicked the conversation he overheard between you and his brother yesterday. Lo’ak was basking in his enjoyment.
It was something unlikely of Neteyam and something expected of Lo’ak, which made the whole situation even more amusing to the younger brother.
“Ow.” Lo’ak swatted away the hand that hit him in the back of his head.
“You’re being annoying. Stop.”
“Stop being a wuss and make a move. It’s her birthday.” The look Neteyam gave was out of pure disbelief.
“I’m not you who falls in love with every pretty girl you see.”
“I do not do that.”
“Yes you do. Now go annoy someone else. I’m going to see if mom found our gift.” Neteyam pushed the weight of Lo’ak’s arm away from his shoulder, distancing himself before walking the other direction.
“Actually, you already gave her one.” The words from his brother’s mouth caused Neteyam to freeze in place and turn his head to look at him.
“What?”
“You gave her a pretty sea bouquet with a sweet little note.” If he could, Neteyam would tear the smug look off of his brother’s face.
“Kurkung.” Asshole. “What did the note say?”
“You’re going to have to ask her yourself. She actually shows up when you’re around.”
Happy birthday, tanhì
- Neteyam
You somehow doubted that this was actually from Neteyam. He didn’t seem like the type to show romantic gestures to someone he met only a few weeks ago. You were surprised that he was even interested in you at all and it had you flushing like an idiot.
“What’s got you so smiley?” asked Rotxo, snatching the note from your hand before you could reply.
“Hey!”
“That bastard. I thought mom got you that.” Your brother gestured to the bouquet with a glare. You had no idea why your brother and his friends were so against you and Neteyam. It wasn’t like either of you showed any interest in each other. Well, not until now.
“Lay off, Rotxo. It’s her birthday,” you heard Ao’nung’s voice before he entered the marui and stole the note from Rotxo’s hands. Your brother’s hand ruffled your hair in a way he knew you hated. “Happy birthday, hì’i kxetse.”
Happy birthday, small tail.
You shoved his hand away in annoyance, the glare you sent looking more playful than menacing. The pushes turned into fights and a full race to the waters.
“Guys-“ Rotxo never got to finish what he was saying since the two of you were already running through the poor villagers that minded their own business, occasionally bumping into some of them.
Ao’nung was grinning at his expected victory when you tackled him from behind. The rest of the way was filled with tripping, pulling, and your attempts at kicking him away from you.
You were nearly there. Aonung would often beat you most of the time, but on lucky days, you claimed the victory.
“Woah!” Before you could stop yourself, you slammed into Neteyam, knocking the both of you over to the waters.
Water filled your lungs quicker than you could comprehend and it seemed like Neteyam did the same since he was coughing a fit once the two of you resurfaced.
“Sorry,” you mumbled an apology in between coughs.
“Looks like lover boy helped you win, little sis.” Ao’nung appeared from behind you. Your brother did nothing, but you hit him on his forehead - which felt like a weak nudge to him - for his mere existence. “I’m gonna fetch Rotxo. I’m still keeping my eye on you, forest boy.”
Once Ao’nung was out of earshot you were quick to approach him and apologize for your brother’s hostility. “Sorry for him. I liked your gift, though. It was lovely.”
Neteyam knew it wasn’t really his gift, but he couldn’t help but play along. Lo’ak was never going to let this go and he knew it. He was “forever in Lo’ak’s debt”.
“It’s alright. Happy birthday again.”
You smiled at Neteyam, leaning in to put a hand on his jaw and he hoped you couldn’t feel the speed of his heartbeat increasing as you gave a peck to his cheek. It was supposed to be him, yet you were the one whose face flushed and quickly swam away to find your ilu.
Lo’ak just found the entire thing amusing.
He raised a brow suggestively as Neteyam spotted him standing by the shoreline, blowing a kiss his way, which was responded with water splashed to his face.
“You’re welcome.”

Mating with the enemy
Tumblr media
Neteyam(22) x fem!metkayina reader (21)
Content: MDNI, 18+, Neteyam and reader struggling for dominance, p in v,
Summary: How unfortunate when Neteyam’s enemy goes into heat during a hunting trip together.
A/N: You guys, I literally wrote this in ten minutes so my apologies for any mistakes. I saw this edit and just had to write this drabble.
Tumblr media
Sevin: pretty
Tanhì: star
I breathlessly pushed Neteyam down on the sand, straddling him immediately. He didn’t hesitate to wrap his hands around my waist, kissing me feverishly with my soft thighs on either side of his legs.
My pussy was wet and dripping slick on top of his painfully hard cock. I placed my hands on his shoulders sliding down onto his cock. I whimpered at the stretch, feeling my walls adjust to his cock. Neteyam let out a soft whine, slapping my ass before thrusting up causing me to mewl from the sudden movement.
“N-no, I’m in control.” I softly hissed, bouncing on top of him while throwing my head back in pleasure. My eyes were screwed shut while my lips were parted slightly, soft moans slipping past them.
Neteyam hungrily took in the delicious sight of his beautiful enemy bouncing on top of his cock. His eyes darted from her pleasured face, to her pretty neck, to her supple breasts that were bouncing, all the way to where they were connected.
“Fuck sevin, you’re so delicious.” He said through gritted teeth helping me bounce on top of him. His hands were all over my hips, waist and ass. His lips licked and kissed my neck, to my shoulders down to my breasts.
“Mmm, gonna put a fucking baby in you. Do you want that, ma tanhì? Let me pump you full of my seed?” Neteyam teased.

ok this is based on request, but imagine jake sully fucking you with pure hated cause your existence alone fucking irritates him yet he can’t keep his hand off of you yes? HECK YES
warning(s) – enemies with benefits, angry sex, mean jake, clit stimulation, overstimulation, cervix fucking, dumbfication, owning kink (if that’s a thing), cussing, orgasm denial, choking, slight hair pulling, cum stuffing, reader is a bratty minx too.
Tumblr media
jake was sat across the hut, reshaping his arrow tip to hunt for later and very much annoyed on how youre in front of him, chewing on your thumbnail so fucking loud, on eywa you’re was so bitchy.
for the past half hours he was trying so hard to block out the chewing sound yet nothing helped, especially with your very aware self doing that purposely.
“can you stop doing that?” jake huffs, doing his best to control his growing anger and hatred.
“what?” you say with an attitude, a brow arched and giving him a stare.
you and you’re fucking attitude. jake licks his lips, tongue poking through his cheek. “that, stop chewing loud you’re distracting me.” he says, pointing to where his reshaped arrows are.
you click your tongue, nodding your head to the door. “if you’re disturbed, the door is that way.” your words are pushing him on edge, wanting to rip you and do things, you on other hand was also feeling the same and you want him away from your sight.
“this place is not yours.” he spat, tone showing a tint of anger. you’re hitting jackpot. “and it’s not yours.” you bite back.
a deep growl leaves his chest, jake frowning as he starts to speed his knife against the wooden arrow. he decides to ignore you, thinking it’s the best to steam down his anger, fuck he really hates you it’s making his cock twitch.
you’re not done with him, especially after yesterday night when he literally scared the cute na’vi male who was talking to you away. this bitch deserves to go crazy with your existence.
“slow down.” you say, voice high and pushing him to the edge. “i swear to God, y/n if you don’t shut the fu—“ you dare to cut him off, you fucking cut him off and his nostrils flared.
“you might not want to cut those fingers, do you?” you tease, empathizing with the fact he has five fingers and is different from the na’vi’s.
he blinks, eyes twitching and triggered before he snaps his head to yours.
“i’m sick of your bitchy self today.” he tries to humble you but you find ways to slap his face with your fiery mouth. “and i'm sick of your bitchy self every day.” you say and jake loudly hissed, amber eyes strictly glaring at you.
“fuck you.” he grumbles
“fuck you.” you hiss back.
done with his shit, you decide to leave and get on your feet. he smirks, lips opening to get on your nerves. “leaving already?” you don’t reply, only one plan in your mind. you’re gonna destroy this man.
intentionally, you walk over to where reshaped and non shaped separated arrows are and nudge your leg to them. you feel them tumble, falling and mixing together. “oops.” you giggle,
jakes’ smirk drops, fading so quickly, this was the last string of patience he had. he lets a terrific chuckle out and your body shivers, maybe you’ve taken it too far.
“you little bitch.” he was now on his feet, walking to you and grabbing you by your hair. you two always ended up in a fight, him not caring if you're a female or you not caring if he was male. you just go for it, punching him when he dared to touch your hair.
“the fuck do you think you’re doing?” you turn to him, face red with anger as well. you’ve always hated when someone had you by your hair. you poke on his chest, pushing him while you knew this drives him insane with maddens cause he hates getting pushed too.
“don’t. push. me.”
both of your eyes were on fire and burning holes to each other’s skull. you swallow nervously yet hold your ground and not let him see how he was intimidating you.
“don’t be an asshat and you won’t be pushed.” you said quietly.
“fuck you.” he says, voice to deep.
“fuck you.” you’re on your tiptoes now, chin raised high to show you’re not scared or bottoming out.
without any warnings his lips were on yours, hot and wet as he takes your lips and devour you. anger was still in him but the lust is winning. both of you are fighting until he was biting on your lips and making you involuntarily moan.
it was his chance, tongue being shoved inside your mouth and being tied. he moans to the kiss. jake suddenly pulls you closer and you whine, hands skimming to his chest and push him away.
he licks his lips, eyes lingering on your lips before lifting to see your eyes. you wipe your lips with your arm, spitting on the floor with disgust. oh trust me, you were so fucking turned on but had to pretend.
“don’t wipe my kiss off your lips.” he demands and you scoff, wiping more and watch his eyes squint, a chuckle leaving him.
“fine then, i’ll mark you all over your body and see if you can wipe it.” he spits and you’re being scooped to his shoulder.
you don’t fight cause you know you want this, but at the same time you’re nervous.
before you know it, you’re being thrown to the hammock, jake crawling on top of you and you almost moan at the sight. “what the fuck are you doing?” you ask, not letting him have a chance to know you’re wanting him right now.
“i think your sexy ass knows exactly what i’m doing.” your inside twists, pussy pulsing at his words. he doesn’t miss how your legs close themselves and he nods, smirking. “that turns you, doesn't it?” you look away when he holds onto your knees and forces them open.
“fuck you.” you say again and this time jake grins. “please do.” he begs this time.
he was between your legs, your loincloth getting ripped away and him untying his gently. he’s so passive aggressive. “i’m gonna fuck you till you’re screaming my name only.” he leans to nudge on your cheek with his nose.
“fuck off, i’m not doing–“ jake was again kissing you, rough and angry that almost breaks your skin. your legs are roughly pushed wider. “i fucking hate you.” he reminds you and anger bubbles in you, “i fucking hate you too–hngh..!” you struggle to answer when pleasure strikes you as jake cups your heat.
“you’re so fucking wet.” your eyes almost roll up to your head, his husky voice being too much. jake was admiring the way he bruised your blue skin when he was marking your neck.
jake trails hot wet kisses down your cleavage and to your breast. you drew a deep breath between your teeth when he took your nipple. jake locked his eyes with yours when he tugged on your nipple, letting it roll between his teeth. the sharpness of his teeth scraping on your nipple and making you shudder.
he leaned back, getting on his knees and glaring at you as he told you how he is proud with the effect he had on you with his eyes. your temper was flaring.
you pull your legs to your chest and try to close them but jake was fast. “uh-uh.” he grips onto your ankle and yanks your legs back open. you grit your teeth, fighting him and his masculine ass to get off of you.
“baby.” he sternly calls and you freeze, “the fuck did you just call me?” you slap his hand away from you when he tries to reach and brush your messy hair from your forehead. “i ain’t your baby.” you growl.
“fine, you want it the hard way?” he spits. “i’ll fuck you then.”
you’re getting pushed back and pinned to the hammock. “fucking stay like that or else…” he threats and you scoff. “no, you don’t tell me what to you, i’m not yours to obey around.”
“you’re not mine?” he arched his brow and you're silent, looking away and staring at the roof until hands are firm, grip on your jaw turns you and makes you meet his gaze. “you’re not mine?” of course at the end of the day you’re his.
“yes, you don’t own me.” every time his nostrils flared, you were very happy because he was getting upset. “we will see about that.” and then he was leaning down to capture your other breast that didn’t get attention.
you were fast to throw your head back, moaning when you felt him lightly bite on your bud and make you squirm under him. you didn’t realize you were pushing his head away from your chest until jake was grabbing your wrist and throwing it away.
right then you arch your back for him to suck on your nipple more he stops and you whine. “you’re not mine huh? you sure you don’t want to take that back?” you huff, eyes telling him you’re not changing your mind.
“yeah,” you spit, watching him grin, “is that so?” he says.
“yes, because you’re— argh!” you groan when his other hand roughly parts your fold and sinks in until his knuckle is a barrier. jake was so rough when he fingers you, your cunt squeezing him deliciously.
your eyes widen when you catch his cock jump and point straight to the roof, precum leaking from the angry tip of his dick. he can imagine how warm and tight you are.
“relax.” he curls his finger inside you, thumb flicking your clit. “relax for me.” he hates you yet look at him going all ‘relax for me’ on you.
“you’re so pathetic, so fucking dumb on my fingers.” he pulls his two fingers out before shoving them in you.
“who am i?” he asks and your answer causes him to curl his fingers inside you. “you’re an asshole!” you mweled. “asshole? i’m an asshole?” jake pinches on your thigh when you try to close them on his hand.
“c’mon pretty, i know you’re better than that. who am i?”
you’re silent, only soft breath leaving you. jake can feel how you pulse on his fingers, telling him you’re about to come. “what the–“ your eyes shoot open when you feel jake pull his hands away from you.
“open your legs wider, be fast.” for once you do as you’re told and jake hums, pleased.
“you’re not gonna get that far until you say you’re mine.” he was very serious and you gulped. you’re spread open and jake closes his eyes when the scent of your leaking slick hits his nose.
you smell so tempting and delicious.
your gaze follows him when he settles between your legs. “gonna fuck some sense into you now.” you throbbed when you said that, feeling your wetness leaking out of you fast and clenching on nothing but air.
jake held both of your legs, pushing them up to your chest and folding you half. it was his turn to squat, watching your exposed and pink folds shining as his angry tip circles on the slit.
“please,” you catch yourself slipping, pride somehow demolished. jake was surprised, “what? can’t hear you.” he gives you an attitude.
you don’t fight back, just wanting to be filled with his dick. “please i need you inside me.” he wasn’t up for teasing now. he needed you as much as you needed him. “fuuuck.” he moans, watching your face attentively when your jaw hungs open.
pain and pleasure hit you, he was not giving you any time to get accustomed to his length. jake thrusts into you, angry and rough.
“you’re mine?” he asks, taking advantage of your hazy mind but you’re no near to being hazy. “fuck off.” you hiss when he pushes your leg to your chest more, almost blocking your lungs from your stretching.
“hm, i’m asking you in a minute and i’ll need you to get it right yeah?” you only moan. jake pressed his body to your folded leg, grabbing your hips and titling your pelvis. you scream when he hits the right spot.
hands sought to his broad shoulders and pushed him when he ruined your tight cunt, it was painful when he started to slip in more. jake can’t help but get shocked when he fucks you open. his cock was literally in your cervix.
“it hurts.” you whine but jake only shushes you. hands wiping on the tears that appear on your eyes. “shh, you’re okay. i’m just so deep, f-fuck don’t do that.” he grips on your hips when you tighten on him. your warm breath hits his lips on how close he is and pressing himself on you.
hands that were wiping your tears slides to hold onto your wrists that keep pushing him away and moving them away from him. “who am i, baby?” you’re now completely gone, his dick controlling your brain and body, even your breath when he ruts to you.
tears are leaking from your eyes as he keeps thrusting into you, abusing your walls and bruising them. you moan and cry louder, nothing making sense with the pleasure and pain you’re feeling.
your breath shortens when jake wraps his large hand on your throat, oh mother eyw—
“who am i?” his tone changes on the last word and you scream? giving in easily. “jake! jake sully!” you cry out, orgasm bubbling in you, you want it out of you, the growing pressure. you want jake to rip it out of you.
“okay, that’s it.” he pats your temple, “ seems like ’m knocking some sense in you.”
“now,” he kisses your forehead, hate still bubbling in him. “you’re mine, yeah?” you wanted to shake your head. wanted to punch him. wanted to…
“c’mon, say it and i’ll give you what you need.”
“i’m yours, i’m yours, i’m yours.” the moment you said it, jake felt something in him burn with ego. you’re his, you gave yourself to him. no going back now.
“good fucking girl.” he huffs, pulling out of you and causing you to cry, like seriously cry loud and he spreads your leg apart, hands wrapping on your waist before he helps you get on him.
your ass sets against his strong thighs and you moan when he easily slipped inside you.
“JAKE!” you yell when he pushes you down, bottoming out before grazing on your earlobe. “you’re mine, you get it? a part of you is mine and i own you.” you hate how his words made your insides clench.
tears are shed, heart in pain with no reason. “i hate you.” you tell him and he smiles, pulling you close to him and hugging you as he fucks himself in you. “i hate you too.” jake chuckles when you hide yourself on his chest.
“i’m gonna cum…” you whine, feeling the man holding you close. “i got you, i’m here.” at this point the hate is confusing because jake doesn’t know what he is feeling any more.
you let go, trusting the man you hate the most and coming. he was soon taking your step, manly whining and hiding himself to the crook of your neck. “shit.” he moans, loading himself in you.
he suddenly feels you pushing him away and hips buckling causing him to slip out of you. he was about to ask what was wrong until glaring at him with pure rage.
“this never happened.” you bark and watch him confused and try to understand. “what?” he innocently asks and you point at him then, down to his semi-hard cock. “this, me and you. we never did it.”
right then it hits him, jake gets that you don’t want this to get out of you two, it was like a dirty secret and jake felt annoyed. “you don’t want no one to know?” you’re quick to nod. “yes.” as much as he wants to show you off.
if you want this then he got you, he was gonna bite his tongue and sit back and you watch him hesitate before nodding.
“good.” you state and move from him to fetch on your loincloth. he only stares at you, the tension you both had a while ago long gone and his amber eyes following you as the mean man he was before disappeared. you don’t even spare him a look as you dress and leave the hut.
too confused and trying to process what just happened.

Soft as Clouds
Neteyam x F!Reader
Summary: You weren't well known in the clan, and when you become friends with Tuk, no one believes her.
Warning: Straight up Flufff
Tumblr media
When you were growing up, you found yourself wanting to linger in the background more than insert yourself into the everyday activities of those your age. Like now, you were currently lounging in a tree, eyes facing up at the clouds as they moved by at their own pace.
You were a gatherer for the clan, not that anyone knew. You would rise before the sun to go out and gather the sweetest, most bountiful food your clan had ever tasted, leaving it in the baskets by the main fire circle. The fruits were always plump and juicy, herbs and spices nicely placed in pouches for easy access.
You wanted to begin early to end early, opting to stay out of sight of others. Now, some knew of you, the elders for example always took a small notice on how you were much more reserved than others your age. Your parents of course knew you, but you were a failure of a child in their eyes. At your age you should've been chosen for a mate, or made a mark on the clan in some positive way, but you didn't, so they turned their attention to your more 'promising' younger siblings.
You never cared, preferring your more modest lifestyle of peaceful serenity.
"Whoa! What are you doing up there?"
But Great Mother had other plans for you.
You gazed over the side of the branch you were currently laying on, brushing your hair that had fallen into your eyes away, spotting a young girl in the forest floor below you.
This was not just any girl, oh no, this was Tuktirey, Toruk Maktos youngest child.
You let a small smile slip on your face as you slowly began a decent, swift and agile, like that of a cat.
You knelt infront of her, your eyes meeting hers that were still so full of child like wonder, "what are you doing here small one?" Tuk giggled, looking side to side as if looking for something, or someone.
"I was following my brothers, but I guess I got lost," Extending a hand to Tuk, "Well, let us get you home then," her small fingers wrapped around yours and you both began your walk, going back down the path you had made from the times you ventured out here.
Tuk couldn't help but wonder why she had never seen you before, yet she thought you were very beautiful. The aura that surrounded you was so soft and peaceful, it made her feel instantly safe.
"Why do you come out here, it's very far from home? Are you a hunter or a gatherer? Your hair is very pretty, can you do mine like that? Wait! What's your name?" Tuk rambled out, skipping beside you. A chuckle escaped your lips, you liked Tuk, she was very silly.
You stopped and knelt down beside her, her yellow eyes stared into your soft green eyes and she couldn't help but think you held the forest in your eyes, "My name is (Y/n), I much prefer to gather, and I think your hair is fine just the way it is, simply because it's yours,"
You couldn't help but boop her nose, her nose scrunched as she let out a laugh. You smiled, "now, what is your name?" Tuk felt like you already knew, but she puffed out her chest proud, "My name is Tuktirey, but you can call me Tuk!"
"Such a pretty name," you gasped, standing up and resuming your walk to the village. Tuk swung your intertwined hands back and forth, both of you finding comfort in eachother.
When you had finally happened upon the village, you could hear everyone in a state of panic. Tuk groaned, her ears pinned back, "I think they realized I was gone," you knelt beside her, both of you hidden just out of sight with the plants, "then maybe you should appear,"
Tuk hugged you, you wrapped your arms around her to return the embrace. "Will I see you again?" She asked, pulling away enough to see your face.
"Of course, I quite like you," you smiled, slowly giving her a nudge to the panicked clan members.
When Tuk had emerged out of the brush, the panicked cries turned into one's of relief and joy. Many ran over to embrace her, but by this point you had already vanished without a trace.
"Tuk! Where were you, we were worried sick!" Jake exclaimed, sweeping his youngest into his arms and giving her a extra tight hug. "I tried to follow Neteyam and Lo'ak but I got lost, but it's okay!" Tuk laughed, "I found (Y/n) and she helped me get home!"
Jake and Neytiri exchanged a look, as did some of the other clan members. Your name was no familiar, almost positive there was no one in the village who has that name.
"Tuk, what are you talking about?" Neytiri wondered, taking her child from her mate and settling her on the ground in front of her, "There is no one named (Y/n) in the village," Neytiri began to examine Tuk for a head injury, but Tuk pulled her head away in annoyance, "I know what happened, (Y/n) helped me, she's right,"
But when Tuk turned around to where you had been, you were gone, "she was right here," Tuk cried, but her parents chalked it up to fatigue from being lost all day.
"Come, you must eat and rest," Neytiri pulled Tuk along by the hand, which Tuk did almost sulkly, glancing back one more time to see you emerge and give her a wink before disappearing behind everyone's backs. Tuk grinned, now happily walking with her Mom.
~.~
Weeks had passed and Tuk now snuck off any chance she had to find you, sometimes waking up early to join you on your gathering. You were like another big sister to her, you were so soft and gentle with her, it almost reminded her of her own mother. You would show her the best places to gather fruit and herbs, show her how to move silently through the forest so not to disturb it.
In return, Tuk gave you simple companionship. You always thought it was fun being alone, but Tuk gave you a shining light of what having someone around could be like.
When Tuk would return from wherever you two had disappeared to, she would tell her family all about it, now causing Jake and Neytiri to worry that she was making up stories to make herself feel important like her siblings.
"Ma Jake, I'm beginning to worry about Tuk," Neytiri spoke one day when she watched her youngest venture off into the brush before she could stop her, "it is not safe out there but yet she continues to go, we must stop her," Jake could only hum in agreement.
"What's the name of the person she speaks of? (Y/n)? Are we sure she's not a person in the clan?" Jake questioned, Neytiri feeling her shoulders sag in exhaustion cause she had asked any gatherer, hunter or healer she could think of and no one knew about you.
"Maybe we should send Neteyam with her one day? Make sure she's really safe? See what he can find out?" Neytiri fired off question after question, Jake taking her hands into his as he calmed her down, "That's sounds like a great idea, if there's anyone who can find out it's him, come, let's find him,"
They both set off to find their eldest, who they were sure was going to throw a fit hearing about their plan.
~.~
Tuk panted, running up to a clearing where she saw you relaxing by a small pond, toes and feet floating in the clear water. "I'm here! What are we going to do today?" Tuk skipped over, taking a seat next to you as your turned your gaze to her, a smile coating your face.
"What would you like to do?" You asked, Tuks face scrunched up in thought before asking you, "Could we go for a swim next to the waterfall?" You thought about it, before nodding. It was very close to the village, but you were looking forward to spending time with Tuk.
"Awesome!" She cheered, pulling you up off the ground and began the walk, with you giggling behind her.
The water had been very liberating of any stress or thoughts that plagued you. You sighed in bliss, leaning back to float in the water as your eyes gazed up at the clouds, the soft white making you forget everything.
Tuk had jumped in, splashing you and causing a laugh to erupt from your stomach as you flipped over, watching the young girl giggle and continue to splash you with water.
You began a water assault back, both of you not even paying attention to how loud you were being which caught the attention of Neteyam nearby who had been searching for Tuk under the instructions of their parents.
"Tuk!" He called, walking into the rocky terrain that held the waterfall where he saw Tuk soaked and wading waist deep in the water, her breath heavy as though she ran for miles, yet a smile plastered her lips.
You were no where to be seen, ducking under the water to find a rock that had caught your eye.
"Tuk, it's time to come home, let's go," he helped her out of the water, not noticing you surface up to your shoulders in the shade of a tree that grew on the nearby bank.
Your hair had rested on your face a little and your shoulders, the shade making your eyes almost glow as you analyzed Neteyam. He was your age, currently training to be the next clan leader and yet here he was, fetching his sister.
Tuk through a glance over her shoulder to see you in the shade, throwing up a quick wave goodbye and taking off in front of her brother.
Neteyam had caught her look and couldn't help but turn back, catching a quick sight of you.
A beautiful, young woman who was lounging in the water covered by shade. Your eyes are what caught his attention the most, but just as quick as he'd seen you, the next second he blinked in shock before opening them to find you gone, the water only rippling from where he saw you, well, where he thought he saw you.
Neteyam was now becoming a quick believer of Tuk's stories.
~.~
Now that Neteyam had caught a glimpse of you, he started to see you everywhere. Although, it was out of the corner of his eyes, because when he would turn to see you, your figure was gone, the place he had seen you now empty or void of anyone or anything.
He had told his parents that he didn't see anyone with Tuk, but that was only because he feared how crazy he would sound. Seeing someone who wasn't entirely there and then them being gone the next second. They'd send him straight to the Sky People for evaluation.
Neteyam had followed Tuk out of the hut one late afternoon, Tuk turning to him confused since he has never followed her before, "What are you doing?" Neteyam just smiled, playing an act to follow his parents instructions, "Well, I've missed hanging out with my favorite littlest sister," he roughed up Tuks hair, causing her to hiss and push his hand away, "so I figured we could spend the rest of the day together,"
Tuk glanced sideways towards the path, a bit unsure about how you'd reac to Neteyam coming along, "I don't know, you probably wouldn't be up for it," Neteyam raised an eyebrow, his thoughts consumed on what a child would be doing that he himself couldn't or wouldn't wanna do, especially so late in the afternoon.
"Well, if you're sure," Tuk grinned, taking off down the path faster than Neteyam had expected, "Tuk! Wait for me!"
~.~
You had been lounging in a tree again, this time basking in the setting sun's glow. You felt so warm, the lights rays bringing a sense of belonging to your being.
"(Y/n)!" Tuk exclaimed, running into sight as you glanced down at her, your lips showing your usual soft smile that you saved for her.
"Neteyam is following me, come on let's hurry!" Tuk tried to rush you, but you only laughed, "Why are we hiding from your brother?" Tuk felt her cheeks puff up in annoyance, "Come on (Y/n)! I don't want him to find you!" It wasn't often Tuk would throw a childish fit with you, so you knew this must be important to her.
You quickly climbed down, taking her hand and pulling her out of sight just in time for Neteyam to come around the corner. He stopped and took a quick look around, running a hand through his braids aggravated. "Come on Tuk! Mom and Dad don't want you out here by yourself,"
Neteyam continued on through, running right past where you two hid in a flower bush before emerging a minute after he disappeared.
Tuk laughed but quickly stopped when she saw your disappointed face, "I'm sorry," she mumbled, kicking the dirt with her ears pinned down.
"Let's walk and talk," you took her by the shoulder softly, "Is there a reason you keep running away from your family? I understand you want to be friends, but surely I'm not worth worrying your family over?"
You led her down a path as Eclipse began to set in, the forest coming to life with lights and sounds. "Well, I thought you might want to be kept alone, like how you were before we became friends," Tuk answered, but you knew better, "but?" You pushed, Tuk groaning before replying.
"Well, Neteyam has his hunting parties and future clan leader responsibilities, Kiri has healing and grandma, Lo'ak and Spuder go on treks through the forest, I just wanted something that was mine for a while," while a bit childish, you could see what she meant. It was nice to have something all your own, even if it wasn't necessarily yours to keep or own.
Tuk kept her eyes trained on the ground in front of her, hands rubbing together embarrassed. Tuk thought that you would be upset with her, but she was shocked when she felt your hand rub soothing circles on her back as you continued to walk together.
"Do not feel bad, sometimes we wish for things that cannot always be, but if it makes you feel better, you will always be my first and best friend," Tuk felt giddy knowing that you felt the same as she did. You truly were a big sister to her.
"I think it's time we returned for the night," you told her, Tuk nodded, feeling a little tired. "Come," you picked her up, her arms wrapped around your neck and head rested on her shoulder.
You smelled of flowers and mist, a calming scent that soon had Tuk drift off to sleep. Which means she couldn't return to her parents on her own, meaning you had to face the leaders of the clan.
Entering the village, you took notice that many had already gone to dinner, leaving a clear path straight to the leaders tent, where you could hear inside Jake Sully, the Olo'eyktan and Neytri, his mate and Tuks mother frantically asking Neteyam where Tuk was.
You held Tuk up with one arm, softly clearing your throat to make your presence known as you lift the drape, all three coming to a freeze as they saw you, a stranger, with Tuk fast asleep in your arms.
You dipped your head in greeting, eyes over looking the two males and straight to the female who quickly walked to you with fear and concern for her baby. "She is alright, just sleeping," you whispered, not wanting to wake up Tuk as Neytiri gently slipped her from you.
Neytiri nodded a head in thanks, though her eyes held confusion. Your eyes slipped over Jake Sullys form, a small gesture of hello from another head nod before you allowed your eyes to stay trained on Neteyams shocked yellow.
'She is real,' is all Neteyam could think as you both played a stare game, you breaking it off with a soft smile before disappearing. He found the sudden ability to move, dashing to the drape only to pull it back and find you gone, like a phantom.
"I think, that's (Y/n)" Jake mumbled, his mind wracking to find any sense of familiarity of you, but found none. Neytiri felt a small rumble from Tuk, glancing down at the small girl to find her awake and giggling softly, "Told you she was real,"
~.~
Neteyam couldn't get you out of his head, now actively looking for you, but you weren't anywhere to be found. Tuk had told him all about you, and this time he listened, but she wouldn't tell him where you go.
"(Y/n) doesn't like to be sought after, you can only find her when she wants you to find her," Tuk laughed like it was the most simplest thing in the world, but it just made Neteyam frustrated.
He knew so little about you but felt a strange need to be near you, hear your soft voice again and find out more. Call it a crush, infatuation or even obsession, he just wanted to see you again, even if for a last time.
It was only when he took a stroll through the brush on a warm afternoon, that he found you. Only you were laying patch off soft moss, eye shut as you looked at piece with the world.
The world itself seemed to be happening around you, each breath you took was like a breeze from Eywa herself. Insects and small animals passed you by, as if you were just one with them.
Neteyam had approached you slowly, footsteps light as he observed your face. It was beautiful in his eyes, your soft lashes caressing your cheeks, lips parted ever so slightly with each breath you took in. Your hair seemed to flow around you in the vast green foliage.
He was too lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice you open your eyes and look back at him. Your green eyes traced his features as well, taking in the rough yet handsome face he was gifted with. He truly was his mother's child.
When he saw your green eyes staring back at him, he fell back from his squat in shock. You softly hummed, a smile so small but just for him.
"What are you looking at?" He coughed, his face feeling warm from your stare.
You sat up slowly, his eyes glancing at how your body was bending, hair falling over your cheeks to frame your face.
Eywa help his sinful thoughts.
"Oh you know," you drawled, "The clouds,"

“Neteyam please…” you beg in efforts to convince your mate to fuck you properly, moving your hips against his nearly still ones to urge him on. Neteyam had you laying on your side, his hand caressing your hip to stimulate you further, as your body grew more and more sensitive. “No squirming yawne… stay like this for a bit longer. Ohh you’re clenching around me so tight.. you really are desperate for more aren’t you, tanhì?”, he teases giving your hip a firm squeeze as he continues to rock his own at a mind numbingly slow pace, leaning back slightly with his other hand on his hip, just watching his cock slip in and out of your soaked cunt.
Although Neteyam typically puts your pleasure before his own, the day had been long and strenuous needing nothing, but to feel your warm, gummy walls hugging his cock. After going at this teasing pace for so long, your walls start to become hypersensitive. One lazy thrust in particular brushing against your g-spot just right, caused you to let out an involuntary whimper at the fleeting sensation. It catches you off guard when in the next second Neteyam grasps firmly onto your hip, using it to pull you roughly onto his cock as he forcefully thrusts into you. Not too fast… yet hard enough to make your body jolt at the sudden impact. A yelp falling from your lips at the action.
“Mmm so pretty… you sound so vulnerable my love… are you really that sensitive?” Your mate continues to tease, lifting your leg so that your calf rests against his shoulder, his fingers massaging your thigh, groping it in slow circles. The new angle allowing new sensations to fester, however it still wasn’t enough to scratch that itch that had been building since the two of you had started, “T-Teyam please.. my yawntu I can’t take this anymore” you plead desperately, your face pressing into the cot below you. “Why do you rush, yawne? Besides…” another hard thrust, matching that of his previous one, earning the same reaction from you. Neteyam lowers your leg, only to push it up to your chest, driving himself deep inside of you, holding there while leaning down to nuzzle against your ear as he whispers hoarsely, “…We have the whole night. Let’s enjoy it, hm?”. You nod your head in response, only because you fear that whatever words that would leave your throat would not be coherent enough to understand with the way his cock was pressing against your crevix, earning a soft chuckle from your mate before he presses a tender kiss to your temple. “Does that feel good, yawne?” He groans breathily into your ear, grinding his cock head against your cervix tenderly, loving the way your body immediately starts to squirm and grind back on him. “M-mhm!”, “Yeah? You like to feel me filling you up like this?” He whispers back to you, his breath hot against your ear. “Y-yes!” You reply in a barely audible whimper, closing your eyes tight as you enjoy the feeling while it lasts, knowing he was doing all of this just to taunt you further.
“Haha alright, lay on your stomach for me…” he purrs, pulling out momentarily to watch as you roll from your position on your hip to lay flat on your stomach, thighs squeezing together. “Good girl… f-fuck..” He breathily whispers as he pushes himself back into you, slowly massaging and spreading your ass cheeks as he continues a steady pace of hard yet slow thrusts. Ears twitching and flicking with each small whine or whimper that leaves you. You arch your back, pressing your rear against his pelvis at another fleeting attempt to get Neteyam to speed up, only to be met with his hands gripping your ass tighter, slightly pushing you forward, “You are going to make me cum if you keep pressing on me like that…my needy little tìyawn, be patient for me… please..”. His voice was becoming more and more shaky with each stroke of his cock, unintentionally edging himself all in attempts to tease you, releasing small whimpers that he tries to muffle by biting his lower lip. This new realization gives you an idea, carefully reaching back behind you, you grasp one of his wrists at first, as if to egg him on, before drifting down between his legs and wrapping your fingers around the base of his cock, causing his hips to jerk in surprise. “Haah! S-shit yawne..” Neteyam gulps, brows knitting together, mouth falling agape as he continues to rock into you, allowing your hand to stay where it is for the time being, letting you pump him as he thrusts languidly into you. His restraint wearing thin showing in the way his cock twitches within the confines of your aching pussy.
“Yawne.. y-yawne… yaw-haahh…” you can’t help, but giggle at your mate’s resolve rapidly depleting, listening to his weak, trembling pleads. “What’s the matter Nete? Getting sensitive?” You purr with a cheeky smirk, looking back at him from over your shoulder. The minute the words leave your mouth, Neteyam has your hand removed from his cock, pinning it down behind your back, his other hand grasping the back of your neck, pushing your face further into the cot. “Don’t toy with me, muntxa.” Neteyam growls, pressing himself deep into your cunt once more, shifting his hand to cup your throat, pulling your head to face upward toward the ceiling of your marui, “You want me to fuck you that badly? Then say it.”. Shivering at his sudden change in demeanor, you muster up the courage to keep on with your game, pushing your rear back onto him just as you did before, “Mmm my Nete… I can feel how badly you want to cum inside me. Do it… ram your cock inside of me like I know you wa- ahh!” You’re suddenly cut off when your body is bucked forward as Neteyam slams his hips against your plush ass. “Such a dirty little mouth… I’m going to make it scream my name. Take it, take all of me, yawne.”
Punched noises escape you as Neteyam begins a vigorous pace of rough and short thrusts, your body bouncing with his every buck. The angle in which your body was contorted by him made it all the easier for his cock to abuse your g-spot. Your free hand aimlessly grips the cot beneath you, body trembling as you attempt to crawl out of your mate’s overly passionate grasp, only for him to pull you right back by your hips, “Is this not what you wanted, yawne? What you were begging for? I know it feels good, you’re clenching onto me so tightly… I can hardly keep myself together.” Neteyam groans, his voice wavering as he picks up his pace, jutting his hips into you over and over again, hitting every raw and sensitive ridge of your cunt. The pressure rapidly building in your core was driving you crazy, nearly screaming as the knot in your stomach grew tighter and tighter, “Oh Nete! Oh great mother- Don’t s-stop, don’t stop I’m so close!” You plead, body writhing as much as it can as you are forced to take thrust after thrust under Neteyam’s weight.
A faint chuckle is heard from over your shoulder, as Neteyam bends down toward your ear once more, “Anything for my pretty girl… just keep saying my name, yawne.. cum for me.” He growls into your ear, nibbling on its tip as he rails you from behind. The way Neteyam’s cock was sliding through your velvety walls with such ease made it difficult for you to even think straight, your body trembling as your orgasm came to its peak, crashing over with an intense snap of the knot in your core, “Net-Nete! My Teyam!”. Neteyam’s heavy panting fills your ears as you steadily come down from your high, his hips sputtering as his own release closed in on him, grunting helplessly as you milked him dry, continuing to pump his seed into you even as his cock began to soften, before collapsing onto your back with an exasperated sigh, holding himself up by his forearms, as if to not completely crush you under his body weight. Gently shifting your hair from off your neck, Neteyam begins to leave a trail of gentle kisses from your shoulder to your neck and up to your jawline. “My yawne… oh my yawne..” he coos breathlessly to you, his hips softly stirring his cock inside of you, earning tired, strained whines from your weak form. “Was that hard enough for you, my love?” Neteyam whispers sweetly against your skin, his words slightly muffled as he continues to pepper kisses along your cheek, “Or do I need to give you an example of just how passionately I can fuck you?” His soft voice morphs into a deep rumble, opening his mouth to gently bite the flesh of your cheek, stirring his already hardening cock in you with more purpose. “T-Teyam… my tìyawn, I need a moment. My body is too weak” you whimper softly, eyes closed from exhaustion as you continue a steady stream of panting. “Oh? But you told me not to stop… and I would hate to disappoint my mate” Neteyam purrs, his accent heavy and emphasizing the word mate as it leaves his lips. You could already tell by the way that your mate was carefully adjusting your position, rolling you onto your back so you could meet his gaze, just how hungry he had been for you all day and that this was hardly the end of what was to be many rounds of passionate love making.

Neteyam instantly woke up as he felt a sudden jab to his stomach. He groaned in confusion as he looked around in the dark, trying to find whatever caused the disturbance. His eyes immediately drifted to your small frame laying beside him. His eyebrows furrowed in bewilderment as he took in your position. Your right leg was stretched out and resting against his stomach, your left bent inwards but faced the other way. Your torso was leaning away from him though it turned to face him at a weird angle. And your arms were all over the place.
Neteyam was incredibly confused. How were you able to sleep peacefully like that? Was it not uncomfortable? He quietly shuffled back a bit and brought his hands towards you, gently straightening out your legs and placing you flat on your back. His hands then moved to your arms and brought them beside you. He made sure your exopack was secure before laying down again and wrapping his arms around you. Right before he fell asleep he made a mental note to himself to make fun of you in the morning for your weird sleeping position.
Neteyam grunted as he felt something poke him. Not again, he thought. Have you already started moving?! It can’t have been that long since he last fixed your posture. He decides to ignore it, maybe you’re just turning onto your side. Another poke. And then a push. Neteyam growls in frustration as he opens his eyes for the second time that night. As soon as he looks at you his eyes widen in shock. There is no way that is normal.
You are laid across the bed horizontally. your legs facing him as your head is hanging off the edge of the bed. Your right leg is folded underneath you and your left is digging into Neteyam’s abdomen. Half of your left arm is hanging off the bed beside your head and your right hand is calmly resting beside you.
Neteyam just stops and stares at you in disbelief. How is this even possible? How are you not in any pain? He can see the first rays of the sun starting to show and he gives up on trying to sleep. Neteyam sighs as he sits up and continues to stare at you. He crawls over to you and slowly pulls you back onto the bed, deciding to wake you up. He gently shakes you, but with you being so small compared to him it felt as if there was a mini earthquake happening and you jolted awake.
“‘Teyam! You almost gave me a heart attack!”, you said with your voice still groggy from sleep and your hand clutching your heart, your eyes squinting at him because of the light.
“I am really sorry yawne, but I had to ask you something”, he says with a slightly raspy voice.
You give Neteyam a nod, signalling him to go ahead.
“Are you possessed.” he asks with a straight face and you burst out laughing.
“What!?” you question in between your giggles.
“I think you should see my grandmother. Just in case.” Neteyam says so seriously you might actually piss yourself from laughing.
“Neteyam are you alright? Did you get enough sleep?”, you ask him as your giggles slowly come to a stop.
“No, in fact, I did not. You gave me nightmares. I do not know how anyone can sleep like that”, he says, shuddering as he remembered how you twisted and turned.
“Oh really? Like what”, you ask Neteyam, confusion overtaking your features.
“Like someone froze you mid seizure” he says as he gets up and stretches, walking over to grab his bow and arrows, slinging them across his back.
“Hey! That’s not very nice ‘Teyam”, you scowl at him and get out of bed as well.
“I am just being honest” he says, putting his hands up in defence.
“Anyways, I really have to go otherwise my dad will get mad, but I will see you later tonight.” Neteyam says, leaning down and giving you a quick peck on your head.
He leans down even lower and whispers into your ear.
“Maybe you should go see my grandmother while I am gone. Just to be sure you know?”
You cross your arms over your chest and glare at him as he walks backwards out the tent, laughing and waving goodbye to you.

CAN I PLAY WITH YOUR HAIR
just a short little drabble <3 enjoy my loves
you sat behind neteyam, his body resting on your chest as you rested against a large tree.
"you look so pretty like this." neteyam smiled up at you, he made a conscious effort to make sure he was caressing your thighs. he wanted to hold you even if you previously insisted on holding him
"oh yeah? the pretty view where you look right up my nose"
"yup, such beautiful nostrils you have yawne." you gave him a playful as his harmonic chuckles met your ears.
" be quiet. now. you said that you'd let me do your hair. can i play with your hair now?" you batted your eyelashes playfully. he rolled his eyes as he gave in to your cuteness. how could he say no to you?
"can you put one of those pretty beads you made in my hair please beautiful?" you nodded, fiddling with the pouch that was tied to the side of your loincloth, filled with many trinkets, including the beads.
taking a handful of them you put them infront of neteyam's face. "pick a colour."
"these ones. they're my favourite." they were his favourite for a reason. teal and orange, the colours of your ikran
"okay sit still my love." you carefully braided his hair, making sure not to pull too tight.
he felt calm as you took care of him. he loved these intimate moments with you. these were the moments he fell harder for you. when he got to lay in your chest as you played with his hair. he got to be so close to you, and lay his hands on your legs. he cherished these moments.
carefully putting the beads in his hair you smiled down at him. "all done." he took the braid and fiddled with the braids
"now i am as pretty as you, my beautiful girl."

Neteyam is many things; a kind spirit, a fierce warrior, a loving brother, a diligent son. But Neteyam is also new to love. Not quite new to being in love, but learning the act of loving you.
He’d found so many ways to express his heart’s desire; written notes on scraps, gentle smiles, searing eyes. It was one thing in particular, though, that made his mouth dry, made his brain nearly short circuit, and it was your need to be in his space.
Even after many days that bleed into weeks and meld into months, you make his cheeks warm with every lingering pass of your fingertips, make his stomach knot with every fluttering kiss to his skin.
It’d been a pleasant surprise at first, but now it was a need, an absolute necessity to have you fused to him like a second skin. Your touch was a tacit word and he was learning to speak your language.
The two of you together was normalcy and the clan members were more than delighted to know that the olo’eyktan’s son was lucky in love. But there were teasing whispers, lilting voices in the background that made something uncomfortable pinch the back of his brain.
His skin would light up with equal parts want and embarrassment when you’d hang loosely around him during evening meals and the villagers his age would giggle and murmur behind their palms about the two of you. Didn’t help that you were an oblivious thing, or maybe you didn’t care, when you’d hold his hand in your own, occasionally bringing his fingertips to your lips during casual conversation.
And he didn’t mind loving you endlessly when you were just two souls enjoying each other, but he can’t help but tense when his eyes wander and he sees watchful gazes.
“Mighty warrior is a needy one, huh?”
His friends, comrades since childhood, surround him on a sunny afternoon. Neteyam pauses his actions, arrow in the midst of a sharpening.
His spine goes rigid and his eyes narrow.
“What are you on about?” he asks, jaw locking.
“Even in the moments you aren’t with her, you’re thinking about her,” his friend Marin says with a shiteating grin.
“Don’t even,” Neteyam warns, eyes rolling as he continues with sharpening his arrows.
“Oh, come on,” another one of his friends guffaws, twining a new bow string. “You haven’t said a word since we sat down.”
And he wishes he could form a solid argument, but you are on his mind, all-consuming as always. Can’t help it when he’s pined after you for years and only recently found the courage to act on his heart.
“Maybe I just don’t want to engage with you assholes,” Neteyam bites, fist tightening around his dagger.
“Yeah, because if you open your mouth, all you’ll be able to talk about is my girl this and my girl that,” Marin teases. “Who knew future olo’eyktan was so clingy.”
“Yeah, like it’s me who’s clingy,” he grunts, resuming the task at hand with much more fervor.
“Is it not?” Marin challenges. “Oh, ________, my love, look at these flowers I picked for you.”
The blood is rushing to his ears as his friends howl with laughter.
“Syulang, I wrote you twelve pages declaring my love even though we’ve seen each other thrice since last eclipse.” The taunting makes him seethe, makes the feeling of discomfort surface all over again and the words are spilling before he can plug the dam.
“Of course it’s not me,” Neteyam scoffs. “I keep my composure, but it’s her that insists on constantly reminding the village that we’re together. If I had it my way, nothing would have changed from when we were friends.”
It’s a lie and he knows it, his friends know it. But you, you who staggers outside of the training circle at the sound of multiple voices don’t know it.
It’s like a swift strike to the gut, one that squashes every butterfly that tickled the lining of your stomach on your way to fetch the very man who’d held your heart and crushed it all the same.
Your satchel, heavy with fruits and snacks for after your evening swim with Neteyam, weighs heavy across your front as you debate whether or not you should be listening to a conversation that is obviously not meant for your ear. But it’s like you’re rooted to the soil beneath you.
“Yeah, okay,” Marin chuffs, obviously not convinced. “If you’re so bothered by your dynamic now, there isn’t any reason why you wouldn’t say anything. She’s your second skin and you love it.”
He does, he thinks to himself.
Of course he doesn’t, you realize, horrified, the thousand and one times your hands would find his body and he’d tense or shy away replaying like a horror reel in your brain.
“I potentially hold the future of this clan in my hands,” Neteyam says. “It is my duty to endure all things whether or not I enjoy it.”
It’s like you’re doused with water so cold at the violent shiver that shakes your spine.
Just another thing to endure, you mull over in your brain as the barge of emotions brims dangerously near the surface.
You break from the edge of the clearing and you’re off.
Tumblr media
Something is off.
And Neteyam is ashamed to admit that it takes him obnoxiously long to notice. Maybe it’s because he’s caught up in his duties, or maybe for once in his life, he isn’t worrying about meddlesome gazing, but the shift is imperceptible.
You’re still you, so aching beautiful and devastatingly radiant, but something is different. He doesn’t pinpoint it until he’s bidding you a farewell, leaning into your space to plant a kiss on your lips when you ease away to beam at him nervously instead.
His brows furrow when you wave, breaking away from him to scurry home.
He thinks it’s a one off, something he shouldn’t read too much into, but he can’t help it. Not when he’s so used to your touch, so used to feeling the pads of your fingers denting his skin and the scald of your lips.
He tries again a few nights later, after finally getting you alone. He’d been busy assisting his father in planning a raid at the end of the month and you were busy trying to put as much distance between the two of you.
“You’re awfully quiet, bug,” Neteyam observes softly, chin dipping under the water as he swims closer to where you float on the surface, eyes closed.
You only hum, pleading silently that he’ll let it pass. But when his fingers skim your navel, you’re jerking away from him, settling so that a berth of glittering blue separates the two of you.
He forces a laugh, wading closer to you as you seemingly shrink.
“What’s wrong?” he asks when he sees something like discomfort flitting over your expression, concern eclipsing his features as he reaches forward to grab you by your arm.
“Nothing…” you swallow, staring at the rounded stones beaded through the necklace you made him early on in your budding relationship.
He doesn’t buy it, tilting your chin up with deft fingers.
“Hey, hey,” he says softly, searching your face for a tell. “Talk to me.”
“Nothing,” you breathe, peeling away from him to wade back towards the embankment. “It’s nothing.”
He watches as you hoist yourself up from the river, heart in his throat.
Tumblr media
He cracks when the others seem to notice, slowly catching onto the fact that the usually doting and loving partner of the olo’eyktan’s son is surprisingly distant. It’s during an evening meal, villagers surrounding the multiple fires, when it comes to a head.
There’s an unusual space between your bodies as you chat with Kiri and a few others and he can’t help but close the gap as something akin to desperation washes over him. His fingers brush the span of your shoulders to pull you into his chest, lips a hairsbreadth from your temple before your palm snakes between your bodies and plants on his chest to nudge him away.
He bites the inside of his cheek in annoyance as Marin and his other friends share knowing glances.
While he boils silently, you ache to tell him that you don’t mean it, that there’s nothing more you’d want than to spend every waking moment in his arms, but that day in the clearing is a humiliating reminder that Neteyam is shackled to his honor and if it means making you happy despite his discomfort, he’d endure it all.
You hate it, hate that he’d let you feel like things were alright leading up to this moment, that he’d suffer at the expense of mocking and badgering from his friends. Makes you feel embarrassed, sorry, that you’d read the two of you all wrong.
You feel his fingers inching towards yours, pinkie overlapping with yours. Your hands involuntarily close into fists and that’s all it takes for Neteyam to shoot up from his perch on the log and take you by the elbow.
There’s a hush as his friends and yours watch the two of you part ways with the group, the nearly feral look in their leader’s son suggestively mistaken.
“Why won’t you touch me?” Neteyam asks fiercely, once enough distance lies between the two of you and the rest of the clan.
His words make your cheeks warm, but he looks troubled, hurt.
“I-”
“Did I do something to disgust you? Did I…”
His words melt into the background as you watch him with teary eyes.
“You don’t have to pretend with me, Teyam,” you whisper. “You can tell me the truth. I’m a big girl.”
“What are you talking about?” he asks, frustrated. “You’re the one hiding something. These past few weeks I’ve been trying to be with you, trying to love you and you keep pushing me away.”
A twinge of annoyance erupts in the pit of your belly as you frown.
“That’s rich coming from you,” you murmur hoarsely.
“I’m so lost right now, ________,” he admits desperately. “We were fine, everything was great, and suddenly I feel like I’m losing you. Did I do something? Are you–”
“Just be honest with me!” you cry out. “Why do you have to put on this front all the time? It’s just me, Neteyam! If I overwhelm you, if I embarrass you, just say it! It hurts worse when you act like it’s nothing.”
And Christ, his friends were right. He is needy. Because you’re not a want but a lifeline. A dire necessity that he feels the need to cling to in this moment. This feels a lot like you two are splintering, and he’s about to open his mouth to ask what would compel you to say such a thing, but then it clicks.
The final piece of the puzzle that he’d been agonizing over falls into place and his eyes are widening.
“No,” he says vehemently. “That wasn’t–”
“Is it not?” you cut him off as you dash the threatening tears away.
“God, no,” he breathes. “I was– They were…”
You watch him with wet lashes and his heart aches as he takes the leap and pulls you into his chest with a shuddering breath.
“I’m so stupid.” His chest rumbles as your ear presses to his heart, arms winding tightly around your figure to buoy you to place. “Fuck.”
You hiccup and his hand cradles your head, peppering kisses against your hair as he sways your bodies like it’ll disorient the miscommunication and send it spiraling away.
“I’m sorry,” you whimper. “I didn’t mean to be embarrassing. I–”
“No, no, bug,” he swallows, hugging you so tight, you struggle to suck a breath into your lungs. “You’re not, I promise. I could never be embarrassed by you.”
You shudder so hard his grip loosens, parting with you to cup your flushed cheeks in his hands.
“They were ripping me a new one,” he says shakily. “Told me I was needy, clingy, and I was embarrassed because they’re right.”
Your throat bobs and Neteyam’s thumb brushes over the apple of your cheeks.
“You make me so weak, you don’t even understand,” he laughs humorlessly, body wracked with nerves, with want, with need. “I said it to save face because I never know what to do with myself around you.”
“You—”
“And I know it was wrong, talking out of my ass to get them to shut the fuck up,” his language is a crass reminder that he’s a former marine’s son, “but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to being yours.”
Yours.
It’s a sound declaration, one that makes you crumple like a baby because you’ve missed your person, and Neteyam hugs you close again.
“I’m sorry I’m so clueless sometimes, bug,” he whispers, cheek nuzzling the top of your head. “Love you more than anything, I mean it.”
You hiccup again.
“Love you, too, stupid” you mumble, arms wrapping around the narrow of his waist.
It’s your first meaningful touch in weeks and Neteyam melts under the heat of your body, under the heat of your warm hands.

NETEYAM 𖥔 ݁ . ༅ — “good girl.”
“hey!” your ears perked up when you heard a familiar voice, stopping you from observing the array of herbs and gleaming seeds that you needed to restock for your medical supplies.
turning your head, you see neteyam running through the patches of glossy leaves and fresh soil— a bright smile adorning his blue face. you couldn’t help but smile back, resuming back to arranging the seeds and herbs into different pouches as his footsteps became more distinct.
neteyam lingered behind you, amused by your fluid fingers hastily grinding apart certain herbs and seeds to make them into a fine powder— he was always fascinated by how attentive you are in becoming a healer. one day you’ll make an amazing tsahík.
“do you have the medicine for tuk?” he asks, swatting off the insects that flew near your dewy skin. you nodded in reply, rummaging through the purple woven basket that neteyam gifted you. the basket was embroidered with personal designs that were done by neteyam; it nearly took him a month to make.
“yes, i just made it a while ago,” you assured, the sounds of bottles clicking against each other and the intense fragrance of heady floral aroma filled neteyam’s senses.
“here it is,” without looking at him, you held the vial of green liquid behind you as he took it from your grasp— resuming back to stocking up on medicine.
neteyam knelt down to your level, leaning towards your pointed ear.
“good girl,” he muttered, patting your head gently before sweetly running his fingers through the locks of your hair.
your cheeks burned with an obvious blush, completely flustered by his word choice. but before you can comment on it, neteyam presses a quick peck on your slightly agape lips, returning back into the forest to tend to his little sister.

LO’AK 𖥔 ݁ . ༅ — “so pretty.”
the marui was lit with a burning lantern, only you and lo’ak lay awake in the night. he was longingly staring at the enchanting scenery through the entrance— milky white splotches and dashes of blue adorned the sky. you sat beside him, resting your head against his shoulder.
“this will never get old,” your voice cuts through the nightly air, the glowing waves sloshing beneath both of your feet.
lo’ak only hummed in reply, his eyelids feeling heavy with exhaustion. after swimming for most of the day, he couldn’t help but feel an ache penetrating through his muscles— recalling back to the crazy stunts he did to impress you.
you instantly noticed his fatigue and decided it was time to sleep. lo’ak felt your warmth disappear from his bare shoulder, he groaned from the loss of contact— a bubble of irritation coursing through his veins.
still, you managed to drag him deeper to the pod, despite all his slurring whines and poor attempts to blink away the sleep.
with a warm woven blanket and a plush pillow, you gently tucked lo’ak to sleep. he felt your fingertips smooth out the wrinkles of the sheets— slowly lulling him to sleep. your touch traveled towards his face, brushing off the stray braids that threaten to hide his yellow eyes.
for a little bit, you hummed a calming melody that your mother would always sing to you, helping you doze through the bad dreams. lo’ak watched the way your hair glistened under the dusky sky and the flutter of your lashes when you hummed the favorite part of your song.
he reached towards the hair that fell from your face, tucking it behind your ear.
“so pretty,” lo’ak whispered, running his thumb on top of your balmy lips. warmth prickled onto your cheeks as he said that, relieved that the darkness could hide the color that developed on your skin.
before you could wish him a good night, lo’ak was fast asleep— a low purr exhaled from his mouth. you smiled at how peaceful he looked in his sleep, grazing a soft kiss onto his lips before your eyes wander back to the night sky.

Heartfelt - Ao’nung
[ Ao’nung x Sully!reader ]
Request: COULD YOU DO AONUNG X SULLY! READER?? Maybe she’s a Lo’ak’s twin or something and somehow Aonung starts to really like her and he shows it by not letting the metkayina tease her, or treating her siblings with respect when she’s close [read the second request here]
Warnings: a little angst ig? has a happy ending though

Not a moment in your life felt more tiring than right now. It had been so long since you were able to properly walk on solid ground when you had to stay on the Ikran for your entire journey, and when you slowly opened your eyes to see the mangrove island in the distance as Lo’ak shook you awake, relief flooded your entire body.
The view surrounding you was like a breath of fresh air. After spending your entire life in the forests, the waters were a new sight you could get used to.
Though the welcome you got didn’t feel so welcoming. The dislike you felt towards the Olo’eyktan’s sons grew more and more each day they picked on your siblings.
And then you noticed the tingling feeling. Maybe he thought he had been discreet enough, but you weren’t daft. You could feel the eldest brother’s stare at your back when you weren’t looking, and the lingering gaze he’d have on you when you were doing the most casual things.
Ao’nung had always picked on you the least from the beginning, and he’d make sure not to pick on any of your siblings whilst you were around.
Which was why Lo’ak often brought you with him and insisted he clung to you when he had to meet them, just like right now.
“Would you stop that,” you snapped, shoving your twin’s hand away.
“Come on. That prick likes you and it’s disgusting.”
“So what if he likes me? He’s not that bad.”
“Yeah,” Lo’ak scoffed. “Only because he doesn’t pick on you.”
You ignored Lo’ak, skipping your way through the Maruis’ pathway with your siblings behind you. Although Lo’ak and Kiri would tell you of the terrible things Ao’nung and his friends would do when you weren’t around, you couldn’t seem to understand how terrible they actually were.
“Hey, careful.” You were too busy looking back at your siblings to pay attention to where you were going. A pair of hands gently gripped at your arms, steadying you when you bumped into their chest.
“Hey,” you greeted Ao’nung softly as he pushed some distance between the two of you. Rotxo was snickering behind him and Lo’ak just looked purely agitated at your exchange.
Your twin grumbled as he went around you and Ao’nung, Tsireya and Rotxo following behind him. Neteyam lightly flicked the back of your head as he and Kiri passed by. When you glared behind you, you saw the teasing smile on his face as he looked at you before refocusing his gaze to the front.
“Come on, let’s go,” Ao’nung said, nodding to your siblings.
It wasn’t as if you were bad at this. You’d just been here for a few days and water was not your area of expertise, that’s all. At least, that’s what you tried to believe when you and your siblings lagged behind the Metkayinas again for the fifth hundredth time.
“Here. Let me help.” You turned around to see Ao’nung behind you, his hand outstretched towards you.
From the corner of your eyes, you could see Lo’ak giving a silent look of protest to Neteyam who just shrugged in response when you hesitantly took the Metkayina’s hand.
“Deep breath,” he instructed.
When you dove under, you could feel yourself being pulled, making you move faster than usual with Ao’nung’s help.
The corner of his lips curved upwards when he saw you still in awe at the sight surrounding you, even after seeing it plenty of times. It was what had attracted him to you in the first place; the way your eyes would shine when you’d so easily fall in love with your surroundings.
‘It feels better when you look around’ Ao’nung was careful to make sure he used words you had already learned from them. ‘Not worrying about swimming faster’
‘You swim too fast’ you protested. At this point, you were getting more confident that you knew plenty enough words with the hand signs.
Ao’nung shook his head before swimming closer to you. You were about to back away when you felt the rock that was against you, causing your heart to speed up.
‘Is this okay?’
‘Yes’
‘Can I…’ Your brows furrowed in confusion at his last hand movement. Maybe there were words you had missed after all.
Ao’nung took notice of your confusion and brought a finger to your lips in answer. You felt your pulse quicken and every sober thought dissipated from your mind.
You could barely think, let alone remember how to move your hands to say yes, so you just nodded.
At your approval, Ao’nung cupped your jaw, bringing you forward as his lips connected with yours. His other hand pulled you closer by your waist as yours rested on the nearest part of his body it could find.
You felt lightheaded, and you couldn’t form a single thought when his thumb was gently stroking your waist while his lips moved against yours in a way that made your stomach turn.
It was only when you pulled away, you realized your mistake. Ao’nung might’ve been adapted with the water his entire life, but you weren’t, and you came to realize that as you felt the lack of oxygen from the surrounding water.
Luckily, Ao’nung was quick to react, pulling you upwards with him towards the surface. You gasped once your head was out of the water and Ao’nung wrapped his arms around you as you leaned on him for support.
“You okay?”
“Great.”
The kisses happened more frequently than you’d thought it would. When you were swimming, he’d lead you behind a huge rock or coral to steal a kiss underwater. When you were separated from your siblings, he’d lead you somewhere enclosed to kiss you.
You were walking alone back to your Marui at night when you felt hands pulling you into a secluded corner. Your first thought was to scream, but you felt a hand over your mouth, muffling whatever terrified noise you were about to let out.
There was no room to see who had you in their hold when it was dark and you were constantly hitting and kicking in an attempt to escape.
“Relax, it’s me.” Your movements faltered and your breathing steadied when you heard Ao’nung’s familiar laugh.
“Skxawng,” you scowled and hit him in the chest. “I thought I was going to die.”
“Sorry,” he apologized, prying your hand away from his chest and bringing it up to his lips.
Ao’nung took a step closer and pulled you forward by your hand as he leaned down to meet your lips with his.
It wasn’t the usual quick and chaste kiss he’d steal from you. This time, Ao’nung took his time, making sure to leave you breathless afterwards from the stroke of his thumb on your thigh, and the low groans he’d let out.
“I need to go check on the ilus,” Ao’nung whispered against your lips as he pulled away.
Your disappointment was fully on display for Ao’nung to see, and you hoped it was enough to make him stay a little longer.
“You owe me for scaring me,” you argued as he distanced himself even further.
“Next time.” He kissed the corner of your mouth. “Promise.”
Before you could let out any more protests, Ao’nung was already gone and you were left leaning against the mangrove wall with your mind still partially stumped.
You quickly shook off the daze you had and resumed your walk back to your Marui. Dad and Kiri were outside, their feet dipped in the water when you passed by, and you could hear Neteyam speaking to your mother inside.
“Have you seen Lo’ak?” Neteyam asked the second you entered the Marui. Your brother looked like he had just ran laps around the village.
“What no. Why?”
“I can’t find him. I saw him last with Ao’nung.”
“I was just with Ao’nung.”
Neteyam groaned in frustration before running out through the entrance.
“Hey! Wait up!” you called out, tagging along behind your brother.
“Where is he?”
“Near the ilus,” you answered, trying to keep up with Neteyam’s fast pace.
There weren’t that many people around, but still enough to slow you down and you wondered why they couldn’t have made the pathways much wider.
You walked around the people lingering in your way, occasionally muttering apologies when you’d bump into some of them by accident.
“Ao’nung.” You heard Neteyam call out as you finally caught up to him. Ao’nung turned to face your brother and then he noticed you.
“Do you know where Lo’ak went?” You spoke before your brother could.
“I haven’t seen him since the sun was still up,” your brother interjected. “I saw him last with you. Do you know where he is?”
Neteyam noticed the way Ao’nung’s eyes would constantly shift to you. He wasn’t oblivious. Neteyam knew and although he wanted to shove a fish up Ao’nung’s mouth whenever he’d flirt with you, he could also tell how much you liked the Skxawng.
Your brother sighed and grabbed the Metkayina’s shoulders with his hands, leading him away and out of sight from you.
He left no room for you to complain when he glanced back to give you a look, just as you opened your mouth to say your arguments.
It certainly felt terrible being kept in the dark, especially when you saw your brother dragging Ao’nung to your dad and ignoring your questions.
“Tell him what you told me,” Neteyam ordered, slightly shoving the Metkayina forward. Your dad looked just as confused as you were.
Ao’nung’s eyes shifted to you before he let out a defeated breath and faced your dad. “I told Lo’ak we were going hunting outside the reef. We led him to a spot and then left him there.”
“But,” continued Neteyam when he saw Ao’nung’s hesitance. “The area’s home to dangerous hostile creatures.”
“What?” your dad asked in disbelief, the same time as you did. Though yours sounded more like a genuine question; baffled that Ao’nung would pull such a thing.
Your father wasted no time and got up, already heading towards Tonowari, with Kiri left trailing behind him.
“What? How could you? He could be dead by now.” your words sounded more pleading than angry, and Ao’nung felt his heart sank even more when he finally realized how hurt and betrayed you looked.
“I-“
“Don’t touch me,” you hissed, backing away when he tried reaching for you.
“Listen I-“
“You heard what she said,” Neteyam warned, stepping in between the two of you. “Back off.”
If Ao’nung hadn’t looked devastated before, he definitely did now. The Metkayina stepped back and watched as your brother put an arm around you and guided you past him.
“You okay?” Neteyam asked, glancing down to look at you.
“Yeah.”
If you had listened to your siblings when they’d told you how terrible Ao’nung had been treating them, maybe you wouldn’t have to feel so betrayed by his actions. It wasn’t as if Lo’ak hadn’t tried to warn you in the first place.
-
“You know he apologized right?”
“Mhm,” you hummed in response without looking at your brother. “You’ve told me five times.”
“Don’t you think you should talk to him? He sulks when nobody’s paying attention, especially when his friends flirt with you,” Lo’ak reasoned from the opposite side of the room.
You hated to admit that you also did the same and it was probably obvious. There were times where Ao’nung would try apologizing, but you easily dismissed him and kept conversations short. You’d speak with him as if you were to speak with any other Metkayina, but you still had that barrier of tension in your friendship.
“I did.”
“You barely said a sentence.”
“What am I supposed to say?” Meeting Ao’nung was the last thing you wanted to do, but you didn’t want to seem like you were completely avoiding him by declining his request.
All you could do was walk in silence beside the Metkayina as he led you away from the village and closer to the shore.
It should’ve felt apprehensive following him alone at night, yet all you felt was curiosity as Ao’nung leaned down by a small rock to fetch something.
“What are you doing?” you asked. It was probably the first full sentence you’ve said to him ever since you met up tonight.
“Taking some food for the little guy.” Just as you were about to question him further, you heard the tiny chirping coming from the water.
Ao’nung walked deeper into the water as a tiny ilu emerged, its bioluminescent freckles glowing in the night. He threw the fish slightly above the air for it to catch in its mouth.
If there was anything that tugged on your heartstrings more than seeing the view underwater, it was the creatures that swam in it. You’ve never actually seen a baby ilu, only a full grown adult, and Ao’nung knew the path leading straight into your heart.
“Don’t you want to say hello?”
Skxawng. He knew you wouldn’t be able to resist and he wasn’t wrong.
“Here,” Ao’nung said, offering the small fish in his palm.
He watched as your fingers lightly brushed his as you took it and you couldn’t hold back the smile that came to you when the tiny creature chirped happily as you threw the fish at it.
Ao’nung mimicked your smile at the sight of the heartfelt interaction. He felt like he could finally breathe again. He’d always loved the smile you had whenever you were in awe with the environment and its creatures.
“She was born a few days ago,” Ao’nung informed, gently petting her head with the back of his fingers. “Wasn’t allowed to separate from her mother until this morning.”
The ilu turned to you, flapping its tiny flippers in the water before approaching you. As you reached out to pet her, the ilu swam away, leaving you confused at what you did wrong.
“That’s her mother,” Ao’nung answered your silent question and you turned around to see the full grown ilu freely swimming in the distant.
Now that your source of comfort swam away, you suddenly realized the situation you were in. Ao’nung was nearing you and you still had no idea what to say to him.
It wasn’t as if you wanted to give him the silent treatment on purpose. You just had no idea how to fix things when Ao’nung purposely left your brother to fend off for himself in a death trap.
“You already know what I’m going to say, but I just want to fix things between us,” he started. “I’m sorry for what I did and I hope you can find it in you to forgive me. Can we just- start over?”
Instead of forming any sort of answer in your head, you did the most impulsive thing you could have possibly responded with.
You could feel Ao’nung’s heartbeat under your palms when you placed your hands on his chest and leaned forward to give him a soft kiss.
“I already forgave you.”
To say the adults were surprised was an understatement. Ronal was bewildered at the news. Though you rendered your parents a tiny bit speechless, they didn’t seem to show any negative reactions towards your relationship with the chief’s son. Kiri and Neteyam had been betting amongst themselves on how long it would take for you to man up and finally not deny whatever was going on between you and Ao’nung.
It took a while for the news to sink in, but once it did, the two of you became more annoyingly endearing to watch than anything.
“Would you stop that? My eyes are going to explode if I have to witness this any longer,” Lo’ak protested as Ao’nung kept annoying you, which only looked like flirting in everyone else’s eyes.
“No, no. I want to see what she does to him.”

Your hand wrapped around Neteyam's bicep as his large hand muffled your desperate moans while Ao'nung dived his skilled tongue into your slick folds.
"look at her, squirming like a fish, bro" ao'nung chuckled against your puffy clit, sucking on the nub, your eyes rolling back in your skull
Neteyam smirked kneading the lobe of your breasts, rolling the perked up nipple between his slender fingers "such a slut for us, aye? You love it when nung eats you out like a starved man, doncha?"
Ao'nung looked up at him in mock offence as your juices ran down his chin, teal eyes blown out "you talk like you don't bust the moment you go down on her"
He drawled out, plunging two long digits in your tight little hole, his other hand hooked under your knee to keep you wide open, your slick velvety walls clenching around them as a scream that was muffled by Neteyam's thumb in your mouth.
You looked up at the dark skinned boy, sitting between his thighs, your legs spread open over his, as the fair skinned knelt between yours.
Your face was tear-stained, mouth wide open as Neteyam's thumb gagged any noises that you made, legs shaking, breaths stuttering as the blue eyed boy curled his fingers in your weeping pussy.
Neteyam and Ao'nung laughed quietly at your fucked out state "shh don't wanna alert our friends outside, do we?" your back against teyam's chest, pussy on display for nung, his face buried into sticky warmth, tongue and fingers working in unison with teyam's hands on tits and mouth.
"fuck- Y/n, come for me, Tiyawn" nung growled against your swollen clit, you whimpered tears dropping down your flushed cheeks with the added pleasure of Neteyam bites on your sensitive neck.
The coil in the pit of your stomach snapped, your scream being choked behind Neteyam's hand as you yanked on ao'nung's hair, which were taken down from his bun while your nails dug into Neteyam's forearm again, your breaths ragged.
Your climax coated the expanse of Ao'nung's chin and jaw, wavy hair framing his chiseled face as he licked his lips, savoring your last, neteyam removing his fingers from your mouth and licking them as well before kissing your temple from behind while you're laid limp between them as they took care of you, coming down your high.
"Shh, There there, sweetling, don't worry this is just the start" neteyam crooned in your ear as they were pressed against your skull, flickering now and then, before they both switched places and Neteyam's skilled fingers untied his Tweng, his hard cock springing out and slapping his abdomen "My turn, babygirl"
Bonus :
Lo'ak's jaw dropped as i gagged silently and turned around and ran the farthest away from your kelku "WHAT DA FUCK DID I JUST SEE?!!"

"It was nice to meet you"
Tumblr media
pairing: neteyam x omatikaya reader
word count: 280 words
summary: you and neteyam meet for the first time and he is blinded by your beauty and instantly intrigued.
warnings: none, just fluff!
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
Neteyam couldn’t believe his eyes; he had never seen anyone as beautiful as you. You stood facing each other, your parents talking to each other. They had suggested that it would be nice for you and Neteyam to be introduced to each other since you are the same age. Neteyam hoped his parents wouldn’t ask him any questions or prompt him to talk: he was too preoccupied by taking in your face, your beauty, to follow the conversation that was going on around him.
Neteyam knew he wanted to get to know you when he saw you. Something about you interested him, pulling him into your world and being. Neteyam was in a trance, bewildered on how beautiful face like yours could exist. ‘Eywa took her time on y/n’ he thought to himself.
You were intrigued as well, trying to make your interest in him much more lowkey than he was. You avoided Neteyam’s gaze; holding eye-contact with him had made your mind go blank and you feared what you might say or do under his study. Neteyam, you thought, was so handsome, so tall, and you wondered how many girls he had running after him.
Unbeknownst to Neteyam, the conversation was dying down and you and your parents were heading back to their home. Neteyam was thrown out of his thoughts when he heard you softly giggle, waving your small hand in his face.  “It was nice meeting you, Neteyam,” you said, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
Neteyam smiled, already looking forward to the next time he could see you. “It was nice meeting you as well, (y/n). I’ll be seeing you around the village.”

y’all imagine jake sully okay? JAKE SULLY coming back from hunting party (if that’s a thing lol) and found you curled up on the bed you share almost half asleep thinking how you’re adorable and small until you decide to tease him and he ends up fucking you — cuddle fucking 🧎🏽‍♀️
warnings - smut, yep it’s a smut!! neck kissing & biting, side ways fucking, clit stimulation, and cum stuffing also reader is the one who starts to tease alright, idk i’ll edit it if i find any other notes i’ll have to add :P happy reading!
“cuddle-fücking you.” — jake sully (⨳)
he did it again.
jake sully stood you up for another hunting party and he can’t imagine how he’s starting to hate himself now. “i’ll be back by eclipse, princess” he had said when he left and it’s now almost over, the eclipse.
climbing fast to your shared hammock, jake moves the fabric used as a door and walks inside, he wanted to call your name but couldn’t because you’ll probably be sleeping. “knucklehead.” he curse himself.
even the kids are already asleep too. your mate walks to your shared small room and was greeted by your figure laying on the bed you two share. fuck you jake sully, fuck you.
trying not to disturb you, he removes his fighting tools from his body and place them on the mat as gentle as possible. jake slowly walks to the bed and kneels on it making the bed to sink and cause you to shuffle at your sleep
on eywa he swore how breathtaking you are just sleeping with a relaxed face.
right after he let himself slid under the sheet, jake bits his lips hard when you move and call for him. “ma jake?” his heart pinches, he feels so bad. “i’m here baby, right here.” he quickly press his chest to your back as your face is turned to the other direction.
“mhm,” you sigh, satisfied when he pulls you to him by the waist. “how did the party go? did you wound yourself?” you, half awake, feel jake nod against your back. “i didn’t, princess i’ll all good” he tells you it went good.
you smile when you feel him press light feathered like kisses on the curve of your neck. “it’s ticklish” your voice was so pretty to him. everything, everything about you is pretty.
you feel jake finally let a relieved and satisfied sigh out, pulling you close to him. your mate loved spooning and you didn’t complain. it’s the best thing ever, he called it a human thing they do on earth but here, with you. deciding to call it a night out, you press yourself to jake more causing your ass to be pressed against his pelvis.
you closed your eyes and felt yourself sighing and your body doing the same like jake, and a smile touched your lips again.
then you felt it.
it was a subtle movement against your ass. his lower body had stirred, but that often happened when he laid down so you try to push the thoughts of what you’re thinking back to your brain. plus he didn't react to it anyway, so you chalked it up to the beginnings of a sleep boner.
then you felt it again.
you fight the urge to move against him. jake looked super tired and his deeper breathing told you that he was probably getting the sleep he needed. you pushed away the dirty thoughts that were starting to come to your mind in favor of letting him sleep.
yet you felt it yet again, and this time it was harder.
your mate inhaled and exhaled deeply, pushing his hips into you ever so slightly. that coupled with the feeling of his warm breath against your neck, and the lingering remnants of his scent he probably brought over him while hunting was making your body heat up.
the warmth beginning between your legs and spreading through your body. you try to cover your whimper while a light sleeping cough and gulp down your sinful sounds. now the feeling of tiredness and sleep empty, you’re trying to slow down your shallow breath.
his cock twitched again and you reflexively arched into him more, your ass pressing against his half erection. his lips parted and he let out a very soft moan in response. you chided yourself for moving and possibly waking him, but he still seemed to be sleeping.
jake on other hand was trying not to push his clothed yet growing bulge against your ass. he knows you’re tired and dosed off, but your unintentional ass pressing to him was making him hard by every second passing.
you squeezed your thighs together to feel a little friction and was rewarded with a couple short pulsing contractions. not a full orgasm, but enough to make your close your eyes because it felt good. you did it again when you felt his cock throb against you once more, and you started to feel the need to feel full.
you were starting to feel your moisture leaking out of you and dampening your loincloth, and you secretly wished he would wake up on his own so that you wouldn't feel guilty for waking him. you bit your lip and squeezed your thighs together again and jake felt his cock throbbed against you. this time he moaned a little louder and pushed his hips against you harder.
oh shoot! you scream inside.
you were about to apologize for waking your mate from his slumped before you felt him holding your hip with his free hand and began rutting against you. you could feel his abs contract and his body shaking as he moved his hips, the friction causing him to moan.
every sound and short cut sighs that escaped his lips made your pussy throb, and you started to rhythmically push your ass against his cock. your eyes shoot open when kisses are delivered to your exposed neck.
“jake,” your voice was soft and whisper, constantly reminding yourself the kids are asleep. the two of you kept this dance until jake was the first to make a move and remove the clothing for your breast made out of leaves.
jake, with closed eyes smile when he hears gou shushing yourself as your nipple roll between his fingers. he was massaging you so well. he began kissing your neck as he continued rutting against you, and you kept squeezing your thighs together as you pushed back against him.
the sound of sharp inhaled and soft moans filling the silence, you two kept rubbing on each other while you’re both supposed to be cuddling and sleeping.
gradually his hand crept down your belly, his fingers dipping between your legs. a long "fuuuck," exhaled in your ear, feeling how you had soaked through your own loincloth. you moaned at the feeling of him touching you, and you arched into him harder as a reward. this was definitely a mutual hormones.
jake, by now probably had leaked a pre cum cause of how you’re sexy when pushing back against him. you were about to roll over and see for yourself, but he began whispering instructions in your ear. "take these off," he breathed while pulling down the waistband of your loincloth.
you lifted your hips to help him remove them, and somehow he got his own off without getting out of bed. jake pulled away slightly and you felt him grab his dick and stroke it slowly while letting out a long exhale. "i’ve got something for you," he said.
be then brought his index finger to your lips and smeared his precum across them. you then opened your mouth and began sucking the salty liquid from his finger, loving the taste of him and thanking him for reading your mind and being so thoughtful. jake hisses when you lightly bite onto his finger.
“mhm.” your moan vibrates against his fingers and his cock twitches. jake pushes his cock in between your thighs almost on a thigh-fucking mode to lubricate his length with your nectar. you try to arch your back and press your ass more to him and whine when he bucks away, teasing you.
“you’re an impatient little thing huh? you don’t like me teasing you?” he mockingly ask, “i thought you were tired, lover girl.” you moan when his tip rubs your clit before he draws his thrust. “what if i want to tease you?” you can literally imagine the stupid grin on his face.
you lick your lips, chest having up and down fast. your back, for millionth time arches when the fat girth of his cock slips between your folds and he thrusts mid way inside your hole before stopping. oh no he did not.
“baby…” you almost cry at his torture. you’re chasing your blinding orgasm while he keeps pulling you from the cliff end to jump. “tell me, princess, what do you want?”
“you.” you say fast feeling his chest roar when he chuckles quietly. “not so shy, mhm?” oh shut up and fuck me! you wanted to say loud but you bite your tongue for him to give you what you want.
“jake.” you warn, a tiny tint of desperation found in your voice. “uh-uh, not till you say it” his cock was driving you insane, if only he could bottom out in you. “please baby, please.” you’re begging, pride thrown aside for now.
you were such a whore, “say it, pretty girl.” he demanded moving painfully slowly, “or else imma have to—“ he starts to pull out. “fuck me! please jake fuck me!” thank eywa it was night time now or you wouldn’t survive with the blush tinting allover your face.
"good girl," he moaned as he began fucking you deeper, grabbing your hip so hard it hurt. every thrust you could feel in your chest as he drove deeper, and you felt your orgasm building. jake slowed down and started long stroking while grabbing your breast so hard that it hurt in the best way.
you moaned as he fucked you slowly, arching your back as much as you could so that he was bottoming out with every thrust. you wanted to cum so bad and you know you’ll make it. he slid his hand between your legs again and started to massage your clit.
it only seemed like jake was reading your mind, but in reality he knew you, he could tell you were getting frustrated by the sound of your silent voice and by the way you tried to move your hips and encourage him to go faster. “easy girl,” he laughs at you.
you moaned louder and you almost felt your orgasm in your grasp. he moved his finger left and right across your clit just like you liked, driving himself deep inside you, breathing hard in your ear and edging you closer and closer. “that’s it baby, do it again” he growls. “tightening on me.” you do it again and jake let a deadly moan out.
"you feel so good, baby," he moaned. "so fucking tight." you clenched around his dick at his words and he moaned again. you could tell he was close to losing control. his thrusts were becoming jerkier, and he was panting in between moaning expletives. “so. fucking. tiny.” he growls.
your man, jake removed his hand from between your legs and replaced it with yours, and you started to rub your clit, essentially masturbating on his dick. “ngh, jake… f-feels so good” you cry out, eyes widening when you feel him lifting your leg, holding it in the air, and starting to fuck you hard and fast again, making you moan loudly.
“shh, you’re gonna wake the kids.” you nod, drunk with pleasure. your body tensed as you felt your orgasm crashing over you, and you cried out every time your pussy squeezed his dick. but jake didn't stop. he fucked you hard through your orgasm, not caring how hypersensitive you were becoming or how you felt like you couldn't take anymore.
deep voice hovers over your ear, “take it, you’re doing good. make me cum.” your ears perk up when he requests to make him cum. but the overstimulation was becoming too much. just before you were about to tap out you felt his dick get even harder and more rigid.
he’s so close.
you bit your lip and let him keep fucking you because you were a big girl and you could take the beating he was giving you as he chased his own orgasm. jake suddenly slowed down, signaling that he was right there. it was his tell that he was about to come and you mentally started the countdown.
jake growls and bottoms out while his hand his still on air with your legs held up. “baby.” he whines, he fucking whines and your inside tighten. “jake please,” you don’t know what you’re begging for now. “give me it.” you tell him.
that was the last push to send him over edge and making him fully bottom out in you and spill his frustration and tiredness in you. “taking me so well, i know princess i know” he says seeing how your whole body tensed when he filled you up.
“such a good girl for me only.”
“you’re amazing,” he tells you his voice already tired. “you’re amazing too, ma jake.” he smiled and playfully bite your shoulder. “i love you” he says not waiting for a respond cause him still being inside you was an “i love you too”
too spent to move, you don’t even tell him to pull out and lean against him ready to sleep. everything is now peaceful making you both easily drift to a deep slumber.
uhm-uhm *clears throat* this was a 2k+ words worth it i think. but like seriously, i’m scared i’ll lose my interest in human men because this obsession isn’t obviously right 😐 — hope you enjoyed reading! like + reblogs are appreciated and not pressured!! mwah i love each and everyone of you babies.

Bonds could be formed before Eywa, but they could also be broken. That was the law. Hearts that once beat as one could grow apart, it didn't always last. It was rare, but it happened. You understood this, as did Lo'ak, who knew it firsthand, growing up with the love story of his parents. But the two of you had never expected that it could happen to you someday.
You often thought back to your life in the forest, where even amidst the ongoing war, things seemed to be much calmer and peaceful than they were now, within the reef clan. The instability and uncertainty, the risk of clan members never returning, the frequency of grieving ceremonies, everything seemed unimportant, when you had one sure thing in your life - Lo’ak. He had been your unwavering rock, the only one who could see through you, see you. Until he didn’t.
Since the day you burst into Sully's home at the age of seven, with your mother trailing behind to prevent you from disturbing Toruk Makto's family, it was clear that you and Lo'ak were two pieces of the same soul. It was always trouble when it came down to the two of you, sneaking out, and stealing everything that could be turned into a game, coming home covered in dirt and debris. Your parents often joked that you were like a mirror held up to Lo’ak: he was the instigator, and you were the tail. It was mostly Lo’ak initiating the trouble, but you were always right there with him, egging him on. You couldn’t help it, you loved the way his eyes sparkled with mischief, and the way he held you in his embrace, chest vibrating with the sounds of deep laughter, when you got yourselves into sticky situations.
Soon enough, the whole clan could see that a strong bond was starting to form between two souls so alike, it was almost uncanny. The two of you felt it too. Every angry scolding from his father was yours to take as well, every injury and scar on his body was mimicked on yours, every loving gaze and touch of his mother was shared with you. The Sully’s became like a second family to you, and it was only a matter of time before you would officially be one of them. So, when they made the difficult decision to leave the clan and seek refuge in a foreign land, your parents reluctantly had to let you go with them, knowing that you were meant to be with Toruk Makto's son.
But now, whenever he looked at you, Lo’ak felt guilty. His heart filled with sorrow for the days when all that mattered to him was you - the smile that was plastered on your face when you greeted him, the warm gaze you casted upon him when he needed reassurance, the gentle touch of your fingers intertwined with his when words failed to express how he felt. It was no longer the same, his mind distracted by a thought more exciting. Unintentionally, really, if anything he tried his best to fight the pull towards the Metkayina tsakarem. He couldn’t explain it to soothe the pain, he just felt it. Like he had been guided to her by Eywa herself.
The doubts were suffocating you from the inside out at first, but you tried to ignore it. Lo’ak would never hurt you, he was only friendly to learn from Tsireya, so that he wouldn’t be a disappointment in his father’s eyes. When the clan had started to point out their friendship, and you heard gossip about the tsakarem finding her mate, you swallowed your pride and carried on, pretending that it didn’t bother you.
But when you watched them, you could see it clearly. They fit like two pieces of the same puzzle. Lo’ak brought in the thrill, in return, she grounded him. Bonds can be broken sometimes, you knew it. Tsireya seemed to know that too.
You had noticed the signs, but when he finally confirmed your worst fears, it felt like the wind was knocked out of you. It hurt your throat when you accused him, simultaneously feeling cruel for pointing out things you were hoping he could explain. But he didn’t deny it, the day he sat you down in a clearing, too similar to the one back home, and told you it wasn’t anyone’s fault. It was the law of Eywa.
"I still care about you, I always will," he tried cupping your cheek with the same caress he used to preserve for you only, eyes glistening with tears.
"You promised," you hissed angrily, pushing him away, “You promised, and I believed you."
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Lo’ak dragged himself through the sand, his feet stumbling over stones, as he replayed the bits of your argument in his head. He couldn’t shake off the image of your face, the way you looked at him with so much anger and pain, it was almost like you were a different person. He never thought that there would be a day in his life when you would look at him with such disdain. If he could only change the way he felt but he was torn between his promise to you and his feelings for Tsireya, and he didn’t know what to do.
He had been walking aimlessly around the island for hours after you had demanded that he left you alone, and with the night growing darker, he dreaded going back home to avoid running into you. He took a deep sigh, approaching the family marui, the hopes of having his family already asleep immediately crashing, when a faint light glowed from within. Lo’ak really wasn’t in the mood for getting scolded.
“Where were you, boy?” Jake asked harshly, but there was a hint of concern evident in his face, as he began to quickly examine his son for signs of injury.
“Just…out, I got carried away,” Lo’ak mumbled, fumbling out of Jake’s grasp.
“Lo’ak, where is Y/N?” Neytiri’s voice followed, her worry barely concealed.
Lo’ak’s eyes darted around the pod - his siblings were there, but you weren’t. He swallowed nervously, under the weight of his family's scrutinizing stares.
“She didn’t come home?” he asked.
“She was with you, what do you mean?” Neteyam spoke up, confused.
Lo’ak’s stomach churned with anxiety; you were still out there, on an unfamiliar island, all alone. Alone because he had left you there.
“She was but we… we had a fight, and she didn’t want to see me,” Lo’ak admitted, his voice barely above a whisper, “I thought she’d be home by now, that’s why I stayed out so late.”
“What am I supposed to do with you?” Jake hissed, “You do not leave your mate alone in an unknown setting when it’s dark out. It’s not too hard to figure out.”
Lo’ak hung his head in shame, deciding against defending himself, as there was no point in doing so. He stood there, weighed down by his own guilt, when Neytiri's gentle touch on his shoulder brought him back to reality. He looked up at her, seeing the concern etched on her face. You were like a daughter to Neytiri, and she couldn't wait for the day you were going to be one of hers, so the growing distance between you and Lo’ak worried her.
Jake leapt into action, grabbing his flying gear, with Neteyam following closely behind. The older brother couldn’t help but feel bad for not bringing up your absence earlier. He should have trusted his gut that something was wrong and had gone after you hours ago. Should have known that Lo’ak would find a way to mess it up.
“I’ll come with you, dad,” Lo’ak stated but Jake’s face hardened at the mere suggestion.
“You have done enough.”
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Now every time when Neteyam went to sleep, he often thought back to the night he found you. His eyes would linger on the corner of the marui, half-expecting to find you there, deep in your sleep, only to be met with the image of your empty mat.
He was flying over the island on his ikran then, when he spotted a small figure, hidden in the thick greenery of Awa'atlu. He mumbled something to his father through the wired necklace, before diving down.
You were lost in a sea of tears, so consumed by your own grief that you didn't even notice when Neteyam landed next to you with a gust of wind. It was only when he pulled you into an embrace that you felt yourself melting into him, a deeper pain forming in your chest and suffocating you from within. Your whole body shook with the force of your sobs, and you clung to Neteyam desperately, imagining that it was Lo’ak, who had returned to tell you it was just a stupid joke.
“Let’s go home, okay?” he asked gently, but you shook your head desperately at that, forgetting to breathe in between your whimpers, “Y/N, you need to breathe.”
Neteyam pursed his lips together, raising his fingers to his necklace, when he heard his father’s voice on the other end.
“No, sir, she is not injured. But she doesn’t want to come home,” he fell silent for a moment before continuing, “I will make sure she is okay, you can trust me.”
As you started to feel more and more exhausted and began dozing off, Neteyam lifted you gently into his arms and flew you back home. He was grateful that you were asleep and spared from having to face the worried looks on his family's faces. He was especially relieved that you didn't have to see Lo'ak.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Lo'ak did not miss the way his chest tightened with ache, when you passed by him and lowered yourself on the other side of the circle, your eyes fixed on the ground, barely holding yourself composed during the shared lessons. His lingering gazes were miserable taunts because they meant nothing when you saw him struggle to breathe with Tsireya's palms resting on his chest. His questions to you hung unanswered in the air, as purposefully ignored him.
"Hey, would you like to practice with me? I think I'm losing my focus easily," Neteyam nudged your shoulder.
"Sure," you mumbled with a mixture of irritation and gratitude.
Neteyam was older than you, exuding maturity and confidence in everything he did and everywhere he went. It was no different in Awa’atlu, even when the weight of his responsibilities shifted drastically, he was still prioritizing others. Unlike Lo’ak, who usually cared for you only, Neteyam's range of care extended far beyond that. So you saw right through him trying to take you under his wing, when you no longer had someone to pair up with. He wanted to be the helping shoulder for you.
It was complicated. You had left your whole life behind with only one certainty, and now that you had lost it, you were entirely alone among people who saw you as a weakling and pitied you for your broken heart. You would be lying if you said you didn’t contemplate sneaking out on your ikran one night and returning home, pretending as though you didn't like your new life and that you were no longer in love with Lo'ak. But the idea of your clan looking down at you too made your chest swell even more. You were stuck. Lo'ak left you stuck all by yourself, and he was no longer there to reach out his hand to you and pull you out of the trap. Because this time he himself had set the trap for you.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
"I just feel silly sometimes... I knew it was possible but I didn't think it could happen to us," you confessed with a deep sigh, avoiding the amber eyes fixed on you, "I always relied on him for everything, but now I feel alone. Completely alone."
Neteyam watched you with curiosity, discovering a side of you that was previously closed off to him. Perceiving him as an older brother sometimes put a boundary between you and him, blurring Neteyam into the background. He was like an extension to Lo’ak, never granted the same privilege of knowing you until now. Neteyam’s eyes lingered on your quivering lips, recognizing the same brave face his brother often put on to avoid showing vulnerability. He felt cruel and selfish for savoring this moment of you opening up to him. Not to Lo’ak, to him.
"He is a skxawng," he growled, trying to offer some support in the form of anger.
"Yeah, he is," you agreed with a small chuckle, despite both of you knowing that it wasn't really Lo'ak's fault.
You fell quiet again, your back leaning against the tree, fingers wandering in the fresh grass underneath you. Neteyam watched you intently, wondering about what was going on in your mind. He grew tense, struggling to guess, but you were difficult to read, your countenance rarely altering. His patience ran out, and his reserve crumbled as he blurted out with a pleading voice.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," you replied, looking up at him hesitantly before revealing your secret, "Just… when it gets too difficult, I like to imagine flying far away from here.”
"W-what?" he stuttered, "You want to leave?"
"I like to imagine that I can," you clarified, “I’m not really considering it, ‘s just a comforting thought, you know? Makes me feel free… like I have all the power over myself."
You could have sworn at that moment that Neteyam let out a relieved breath. It was strange to open up to him, someone whom you had never trusted with your thoughts before. But his usually annoying calmness was suddenly all you needed. He didn't judge you, didn't pity you, like the others.
His family was suffocating you with love to overcompensate for Lo'ak’s inability to give it to you anymore, and for some reason, it made you resentful. So you asked for a separate marui where you could stay by yourself for the time being. You often avoided them in public and stayed close to Rotxo during your lessons, ignoring the conversations Kiri tried to pursue with you. Eventually, the Sully’s started to give you space, everyone except for Neteyam. He was persistent, asking you to pair up with him during the lessons under the excuse that he was failing, and you were ‘so quick to learn.’ Challenged you to accompany him on walks because he needed a trained warrior to look out for him. You saw right through his acts of kindness but your heart longed for company, and he was always there, basically pleading you to join him. So you did.
Short and harsh replies eventually grew into longer chats into deep conversations, with him mostly doing all the listening and agreeing, as you complained. You tried to avoid talking about Lo'ak, but sometimes you would let slip a small detail or two, throwing a piece of your soul at Neteyam and quickly closing off. He didn't mind it though, because every time you pushed him away, you opened up a little more the next time.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“Stop staring. I get it, you’re mad at me,” Lo'ak rolled his eyes at his brother before hanging his head again.
“I am not mad at you,” Neteyam replied, watching with a keen eye as Lo'ak proceeded to clean the fish.
“Sure, just like everybody else isn’t,” Lo’ak huffed under his breath with slight annoyance.
Lo'ak found it increasingly difficult to face the reality when spending time with his family. Your absence had disrupted the usual balance, leaving him to endure their gnawing, judgmental stares by himself. They refrained from commenting, knowing that it wasn't a matter of discipline, it was a matter of the heart. But the silence was worse - Lo’ak would have preferred hours of lectures from his parents and bickering with his siblings instead. He especially dreaded spending time with his brother, who always stood next to him like a figure of justice, so proper and goody-two-shoes. It drove Lo'ak insane.
“I think you should talk to Y/N.”
“Talk to Y/N?” Lo’ak’s eyes snapped back at Neteyam in bewilderment.
Lo’ak wasn’t naive. Of course he had noticed the way his older brother tried to fix the situation, coax you out of your shell and bring you back into the world. He felt agonized that once again Neteyam had to stand in for him, clean up his mess. But he couldn’t be angry this time because he knew he was helpless.
“No way, she hates me right now,” Lo’ak shook his head, “She will probably despise me for the rest of my life. Not that I don’t deserve it…”
“You underestimate her,” Neteyam spoke calmly, “But she can’t move on until she gets her closure.”
“Closure?”
“You owe her that much,” Neteyam patted his brother’s shoulder, standing up.
Lo’ak sighed heavily as his brother’s words sank in. He knew that Neteyam was right; he did owe you that much. And he couldn’t just pretend like you never existed and move on with another girl without at least trying to make amends with you first. You deserved to know that he didn’t lie to you, it just happened. Lo’ak continued to clean the fish in silence, already trying to come up with a way to approach you.
“I’m going to check on her,” Neteyam said, grabbing his spear, “When you’re ready, you know where to find us.”
Lo’ak nodded absentmindedly, still lost in his own turmoil.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“See? I’m telling you, it is like the water here is way slippier than back home,” Neteyam joked, as his spear poked through nothing, the fish he had been preying on swimming away.
You laughed at his attempt, knowing well that he was only pretending to struggle. Back home, Neteyam was known for being great with weapons, especially spears, even though your clan rarely used them, having preferred bows and arrows. You gripped your spear, fixing your stance and focusing on catching a fish; the anger you felt towards Lo’ak in the past weeks had driven you towards excelling in your lessons and improving your skills. With a quick thrust of your weapon, you successfully pierced through a fish and brought it close to examine. Fighting for its life, the fish flopped around on the tip of your spear, splashing water onto Neteyam. You laughed as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to avoid the burning of the salty water, and shoved the spear towards you instead.
“Stop, Neteyam!” you yelled out, trying to push it away from you, “I’m going to smell of fish!”
“You already smell like one,” he laughed.
Your fingers reached for the fish, pulling it off the tip gently and tossing it into the bucket next to you. Neteyam stood leaning on his spear, watching you with a small smile.
“What?” you grumbled.
“Nothing,” he shrugged.
“Stop staring, you look like a freak.”
"Tell me something I don't know," he rolled his eyes, and you felt a twinge of guilt.
Freak. It slipped out of you without much thought, but it was one of the silly nicknames that Neteyam and his siblings were called since their arrival to Awa’atlu. You felt bad, as you had it easier than them in those moments, seeming to be the most ‘normal’ to the Metkayina. But Neteyam didn’t even bat an eye at your words, like he was already used to it.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to call you that,” you reached out to touch his arm.
“It’s okay,” his eyes lingered on your hand before meeting your gaze with a softened expression, “You’ll have to try harder to offend me next time.” “Oh, you’re such a skxawng,” you playfully shoved him.
You laughed, as Neteyam stumbled back, losing his grip on his spear and falling onto his bottom with a splash. He started splashing you in retaliation, squeals and laughter filling out the air, as you let yourself get distracted from the usual gloominess that hung above you. That is until you heard him call out your name. Lo’ak.
You could feel the hairs on your back stand up, your spine straightening instinctively at the sound of his voice. Neteyam threw you a sympathetic look, as you turned around to catch the sight of Lo’ak, standing not too far from you.
“Can we please talk?” he asked.
For the first time in weeks, you let yourself meet Lo’ak head-on, feeling as if something stirred within you. His face twisted under your stare, the apple in his throat wobbling, waiting for you to respond. Instead of granting him a verbal response, you shook your head and reached for the bucket handle to get away from there as fast as you could.
“He means well,” Neteyam covered your hand with his.
“It was your idea, wasn’t it?” you gritted through your teeth.
“I’m sorry, I just think you should talk,” Neteyam pleaded with you, “Please.”
You exhaled sharply through your nose, letting him take the bucket out of your grip.
“Just trust me on this.”
You felt the anger vanish when you looked at him, his sincerity seeping through your defenses. It wasn’t hard to trust Neteyam, after all, he never made promises he couldn’t keep. You bit your lip, hesitating for a moment before slowly turning to face Lo'ak. Neteyam let his palm linger on the small of your back before brushing past you to leave you two alone.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“Well, are you going to thank me or kill me?” Neteyam asked playfully but there was obvious tension in his stance.
“Neither,” you rolled your eyes at him, ignoring that small fleeting feeling of gratitude you felt.
He didn’t see you for almost a day after your conversation with Lo’ak, and frankly, he had been going a little insane over it. It seemed like Lo’ak and you were gone for ages, since he only caught a glimpse of his brother right before he went to bed. After leaving you to talk, Neteyam struggled to distract himself with a swimming practice, but quickly grew tired of it and trailed back to the place where he left you. He kicked the sand around in annoyance when he didn’t find you there, assuming that you moved to a more private place instead. He wondered if he had unwittingly pushed you back into Lo’ak's arms, and the thought made him feel sick to his stomach. It was probably wrong to secretly root for his brother and Tsireya to make it, but he couldn't help himself.
A small crush on you had started to grow in Neteyam's chest a long time ago, though he wasn't exactly sure when. Then suddenly, it had bloomed into a feeling so intense that it filled his lungs and made it hard to breathe. Whenever he saw the warmth in your eyes that was reserved only for Lo’ak, he would quickly look away, shaking his head to force himself to focus on something else. He often wondered if he had misunderstood his own feelings and was just happy that his brother had someone like you to rely on. It was too embarrassing to admit to his crush anyway, since he had been suppressing it for far too long now. Neteyam decided it was best to simply ignore it.
“I still kind of hate him but I don’t want to kill him anymore,” you tried to joke but it came out rather lame.
Neteyam winced at your words, but his expression softened into a grin soon after. You weren't one to joke around him often, but when you did, he found you amusing. It was nice to know that you could make the-always-serious Neteyam laugh.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Neteyam was the connecting link between you and his family, frankly, he considered you a part of his family for some time now. So when he begged you to join them for the evening, you couldn't bring yourself to refuse. It had been over a month since you distanced yourself from the Sully’s and moved out, and they were still having a hard time getting used to it. Neytiri and Jake, who tried talking to you during this time, felt particularly guilty for uprooting you and failing to keep you happy after promising to your parents that they would take care of you. You still saw the siblings more often, during your lessons, but it wasn't the same as it used to be. You weren't as close as you once were.
"Lo'ak won't even be home to make it awkward," Neteyam repeated, almost dragging you back home with him. "I'll take care of you."
It will be like the old times, he promised, except no one would mention your relationship with Lo'ak. But even without his warnings, his family knew better than to bring it up, as they didn't want to scare you away. Besides, he was getting irritated with his sisters' constant chatter about you. Or at least, that’s what he told you. You rolled your eyes, and you whined, and you almost broke your fingers trying to pull away from his grip, when you neared the family pod. Then it all came rushing back.
Neteyam's family couldn't help but feel a surge of love for him when they saw him bring you into their home. It had been a while since you had been there, and Neytiri was thrilled to see you opening up again. As they greeted you, Jake made a mental note to question his son later and find out how he managed to convince you to come. His sisters also couldn't hide their excitement as they beamed at you, though it felt just a little uncomfortable. His parents were visibly relieved to finally see you around, as, during all this time, they had been relying on Neteyam to check on you and make sure you were taking care of yourself.
You fidgeted in your seat, the tension in the room suffocating you. The breakup had taken a toll on you, and everyone knew it. But just as your anxiety was about to consume you, you felt Neteyam's hand sneak behind your back and touch your hand. Your fingers intertwined with his instantly, bringing you a piece of mind. It felt like everything was falling back into its place with him next to you.
Neytiri and Jake exchanged knowing glances, watching you chat with their kids animatedly, as the evening went on. Neteyam couldn’t peel his eyes off you, and it was so clear to them that their older son was more than smitten with you. Over the years, they had seen Neteyam grow into a mature and responsible young man, and they knew that he would make a wonderful partner for someone someday. So, while they felt a little strange about the change from Lo'ak and you to Neteyam and you, for some reason, it worked. Neteyam and you just seemed to fit better together, balance each other out, and they couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, you and Lo’ak weren’t meant to be from the start.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“You’re good for her,” Jake concluded, once the dinner was over, reaching forward to pat his son’s shoulder.
“Yeah, well, she doesn’t need that right now. She needs a friend,” Neteyam mumbled under his breath, hesitant to agree.
“You’ll have to tell her some day, you know?”
“No,” he shook his head, “She will think it is wrong.”
“What is so wrong about falling for someone?” Jake questioned, and Neteyam lowered his ears in defeat.
“It is wrong by the laws of Eywa. Her and I are not meant to be…”
“Neteyam,” his father’s tone softened, “You know that sometimes Eywa can change one's path, don’t you? What may have seemed like the wrong choice yesterday could end up being the only solution tomorrow. Just look at your mom and I. Do you think we're wrong together?”
“No, of course not. You’re perfect, actually…” he frowned under the weight of Jake’s words, “But Y/N, she’s… she doesn’t see me like that.”
“She might if you give it a chance. You need to follow your heart, Neteyam. It’s pure.”
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
You laid on your stomach, chin resting on your hands as you watched Neteyam ponder his next move. The worn-out chess set, with its faded wooden pieces, had been a prized family possession since you and Lo'ak had stolen it from the science lab as children. It was one of the only things that you brought with you from back home to the island - a reminder of your childhood. Recently, Neteyam and you were especially fond of playing chess together.
Jake was proud to teach all of his kids to play the human game, and he enjoyed how much you seemed to like it. It was a small nod to where he came from, and while Neytiri never showed interest in learning it, as it was too foreign to her, she did appreciate the quiet it brought to her home. Sometimes, when the kids would get too tiresome, she would pull out the game and sit them down to play to keep them occupied and silent.
But Neteyam was too silent, almost distracted. He was making moves without his usual careful consideration, his focus absent, like there was something bothering him. It was unlike him to be losing, he rarely lost to anyone.
“Neteyam?” you propped yourself up, feeling the gentle sea breeze blowing through your hair as you addressed him.
“Hm?” he looked up at you, a little startled, as if he had forgotten you were there. "Oh, is it my turn to play?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, “But are you okay? You seem distracted.”
"I am okay," he shook his head, shifting to sit up in a crossed-leg position. "I was just thinking."
You mimicked his movements, sensing that he was abandoning the game, ready to talk.
“What is it?” you reached to take his hand in yours.
Neteyam's gaze shifted to your fingers intertwined with his, feeling a warm sensation spreading through his chest. He had started holding your hand whenever he sensed you struggling to open up to him. But now, as you reciprocated the gesture, it warmed his heart, easing him into confessing about the dilemma he was having.
“I… there is something I feel like I need to do but I’m too scared,” he confessed, carefully avoiding any details that might reveal his intentions regarding you, “My dad thinks I should just do it and trust my instincts.”
“Well, what is it? Like hunting underwater or something?” you frowned, slightly confused at his words.
“No, not like that. It’s more about courage…I guess,” he mumbled, already regretting saying that, “‘s hard to decide if I should do it or not.”
“I don’t understand.”
Neteyam's eyes flicked up to meet yours, then quickly looked away again.
"It's nothing, forget I said anything.”
“No, please explain,” you squeezed his hand in yours, pleading, “I want to help.”
Neteyam hesitantly reached out and took his king, twirling it between his fingers as he looked back at the board. You observed alongside him, noticing that both of you only had a few pieces left, indicating that the game was coming to a close.
“It’s kind of like chess. I like to think long before making decisions, I plan it out. But this is not a matter of logic, quite honestly… It’s like, I don’t know if I should take the risk and move my king out in the open field, or if I should hold him back and keep him protected. What if I can’t back out and I’m cornered and I lose?”
You watched curiously, as Neteyam put his king back to its usual spot. He glanced up at you again, with uncertainty written all over his face.
"It's a tough decision, you know?” he continued tentatively, “Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in the middle of the board, unable to move forward because I don't want to make a mistake. Do you ever feel that way?”
“Yeah, I think I do,” you nodded slowly, meeting his searching gaze, “But sometimes you just have to take the risk. Things don’t always work out in your favor, no matter how much you plan it.”
“But what if you lose?”
“You can’t avoid it. Sometimes you just do,” you said, your voice faltering as you recalled your recent loss of Lo'ak, “But hey, if the worst does happen, at least you will know that it's over and you won't have to go through it again. In a weird way, it's like a relief."
Neteyam nodded with a small smile, his fingers trembling slightly as he lifted his king from its spot.
"I think I'm going to take that risk," he said softly, moving his king.
“Good,” you smiled encouragingly.
"I’m... I'm in love with you," Neteyam admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
“What?” you felt your breath catch in your throat. Was he joking?
"I have been in love with you for a long time,” he continued, words spilling out of his mouth uncontrollably, “I always thought it was wrong because you were with Lo’ak, and I obviously never stood a chance. So I tried to push those feelings away and pretend they didn't exist. But they only grow stronger with each passing day, and I can't hold it in any longer."
You froze, your mind unable to process his words. You never even considered the possibility of Neteyam seeing you that way, he was always like a brother to you.
“I don’t understand,” you murmured, shaking your head slightly, as if trying to shake off a bad dream. “So...all this time...?”
Neteyam nodded silently, his gaze fixed on you. He could sense that the answer he dreaded for so long was beginning to form on your lips, as your consciousness slowly began to return.
“Neteyam, I-I… I don’t know what to say.”
His heart sank at your words, and he looked away, struggling to keep his composure. He had expected this outcome, but it still hurt like a knife in his chest. You didn’t want to hurt him but nothing worthy came to your mind to comfort him, except for an apology. You weren’t even sure why you were apologizing to him, but it felt like a primal urge.
“I’m so sorry…”
“No, it’s okay,” he spoke softly, as if you were the one who needed comfort, “I understand, you don’t have to explain anything to me.”
“I just… I had no idea…” you stammered, “I value our friendship so much. Neteyam, you have been my rock, you know that.”
He nodded with a forced smile, his heart sinking deeper and deeper in his chest. It was slowly and painfully killing him that you weren’t harsh with him, almost like the pity you took on him stung worse than the actual rejection.
"I hope I didn't lead you on.”
“’s not your fault,” he shook his head, “If you want, things don’t have to change between us. I’ll always be there for you regardless, I just needed to get it off my chest.”
You nodded, both relieved and confused by his suggestion. But the words lingered in the air between you two, leaving a heavy silence in their wake. Deep down, something started to shift within you. All this time. Neteyam was no longer just a friend or Lo’ak’s brother. He was someone who had feelings for you, and that changed everything.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
And despite the promise you made to each other to maintain your friendship, it was difficult to keep it intact. Days passed, and the aftertaste of his confession wouldn't go away, hanging in the silence that had often replaced your usual easy banter. Every interaction felt weighed down by an unspoken tension, every walk you took together, every lesson where you paired up was now filled with underlying discomfort. Neteyam tried his best to ignore the pain consuming all of his being, though he was taunted by your mere presence. But he made a promise to be there for you, and he was determined to keep it.
You were flustered too. Small touches and looks seemed to hold a different meaning now, making you question the way you behaved around each other. Was it an accident how his hand lingered on the small of your back or the nervous swish of his tail when you approached him. Were you leading him on? Forcing to spend time with you only because you needed him for emotional support.
The thoughts in your head started to outgrow you at times, when you lost sleep recalling Neteyam’s words. He was always like that, his strong and persistent nature showing through everything he did and said. But he was also humble, never getting too cocky and not afraid to ask for help when he needed it. You grew up seeing how Neteyam always put others above him, even though it could hurt him at times. And you felt selfish for taking advantage of that and holding onto his friendship when he desired something more. What if the roles were reversed, and it was you who had confessed your feelings only to be rejected? Would you be able to handle it with the same level of composure that Neteyam had shown? Probably not. You couldn’t do that for Lo’ak.
Your room was filled with the gentle clinking of beads, a soft glow of the last rays of sunset casting a golden hue over the man next to you. Your own hands were holding a string with beads, pretending to work, but it was only a show. Neteyam, who sat in front of you, had been lost in his work, brow furrowed in frustration as the thin thread kept slipping from his fingers. The beads glimmered under the sun, as he added another one, determined to finish the bracelet he promised to give to Tuk before the eclipse. Your eyes darted between his fingers that were deftly working the thread under his skilled touch, and his face, illuminated under the light. His jaw tightened, as he struggled to work with a smaller bead, and you couldn’t help but trace the sharp line with your eyes.
Of course you had known that Neteyam was a beautiful person, it wasn’t like you had a sudden revelation at how attractive he was. Back home, he was winning hearts left and right due to not only his looks, which he took after his mother, but also for possessing the inborn strength of a leader and generally having a great personality. You just never paid attention to him like this before, always considering him to be your friend, a family. But as you stole another glance at him and he caught it with a shy smile, your stomach twisted in a swirl of emotions.
“I think I need to get my eyes checked by Tsahik,” he said with a nervous chuckle, pointing at the bead that had been irritating him for the past minute or so, “I can’t thread this to save my life.”
“Maybe it’s just a tricky one,” you forced a chuckle too to cover up the awkward aftermath of being caught staring at him, “Here, let me help.”
He gratefully accepted your offer, trying not to read too much into the way your hands touched when he passed you the bead. Not that you weren’t nervous under his observing gaze, but you were at least less flustered than he was. So, with a bit of effort, you pushed away all of the thoughts and steadied your hand, managing to lace the thread through the small.
“There you go,” you mumbled, passing the bracelet back to him.
“Thank you,” he nodded with that same shy smile, then pointed at the one you made, laying in your lap, “Do you need help with yours?”
“No, it is done,” you held up your handiwork to him with a grin.
Despite your distraction, you somehow managed to finish your necklace earlier than Neteyam. But considering the size of his fingers and the beads, it wasn’t really a surprise that he was slower than you when it came to crafts. The necklace swayed around in your hand, as Neteyam observed it with attention, trying to understand to whom it was meant to belong. Did you make it for yourself? He hoped you did, as he wouldn’t be able to bear it if you gave it to another man. The colors you used were so familiar though, and Neteyam shook his head to force the thoughts out of his mind; there was no way that you would match the necklace to the beads in his braids. No way, he convinced himself. You watched his face in anticipation, stiffening slightly at the lack of response.
“Well, do you like it?” you scrunched up your nose, feeling a little embarrassed to ask him that. If he liked it enough he would have said so.
“I do, it’s beautiful,” he cleared his throat, eyes snapping back at you, “Is it for anyone in particular or just yourself?”
“Um… I don’t really know, I guess I just made it?" you shrugged, "But if you like it, I can give it to you.”
A contented hum escaped from Neteyam's lips as he admired the necklace, a small glimmer of hope flickering in his heart. The longer he gazed at the brownish and green beads, the more he realized how perfectly it would complement his hair.
As you caught sight of his thoughts, your heart skipped a beat. Had you been so preoccupied with Neteyam that you unconsciously incorporated a piece of him into your creation? The idea of giving it to him warmed your heart, but the thought of others seeing him wear something you made crossed your mind right after. What if they thought it was strange or inappropriate, a necklace crafted by you to match Neteyam's hair?
Just the idea of others assuming anything past friendship between you and Neteyam was scary. You would look pathetic, maybe even revengeful, if you went for the brother of the man who broke your heart. And what would Lo’ak think? Probably that you were only unable to move on from him and hang onto things you could have, like his family. You shook your head in irritation at that. Why should you even care about Lo’ak’s feelings, when he broke off things with you? Frankly, it was silly to even think about it because the possibility of you and Neteyam being together was nonexistent. Or at least, you thought so.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Neteyam laid on his mat, staring up at the thatched ceiling of his pod. It was already late, close to the afternoon, and he knew that his family had gone out to begin their chores, but he couldn’t bring himself to move. His mind was consumed with thoughts of you instead, the change in your demeanor when he was around. You were nicer to him, more than you usually showed, and he couldn’t figure out if it was because you pitied him or because you were starting to see something else in him. Maybe he was reading into it too much and it was stupid. Really. After all, you had already rejected him once before. He would know if you changed your mind, right?
It took Lo’ak to clear his throat twice to get his brother’s attention. Startled, Neteyam finally looked up to meet his concerned gaze. It was strange to see Neteyam in the bed still, and Lo’ak made a guess that he was feeling ill.
“Are you okay, bro?”
“Yeah…” Neteyam sighed.
Lo’ak hesitated for a moment before walking closer and sitting down on the verge of his mat.
“Do you want to talk or something?”
Neteyam sighed again and sat up, running a hand through his hair. He knew that he would have to tell Lo’ak eventually, and there was no point in beating around the bush. Still, the fear of putting a crack in their relationship made him reluctant to share.
“I just want to be honest with you,” he started, noticing a slight curiosity in Lo’ak’s gaze, “Um… it’s about Y/N.”
“What about her?” Lo’ak physically felt his heart skip a beat, his mind already flooded with endless concerns: were you hurt? Did something happen to you?
“I am… in love with her. Have been for some time now… long before we even moved here,” Neteyam admitted with a shaky voice.
He was embarrassed, so much that his ears were burning up like he was on fire. How could he have fallen for his brother's destined mate, his best friend? Out of all people in the world, it had to be you. Eywa worked in mysterious ways sometimes.
Lo’ak’s face fell as the words sank in. The room was silent, as both brothers struggled to find a way to recover from this revelation. The thought of you being with Neteyam made Lo'ak sick to his stomach. His brother. The one who always stood by your side, even when you were with Lo’ak.
“I don’t even know how to react,” Lo’ak admitted, “D-does she know?”
Neteyam nodded silently, watching Lo’ak’s expression change. There was a mixture of emotions rushing to Lo’ak’s head, from guilt to jealousy to confusion. How could Neteyam have fallen for his former mate, take away the only thing that was reserved for Lo’ak only? The lump in his throat grew bigger, suffocating him from within.
“Lo’ak,” Neteyam's voice was stern, forcing him back into the conversation, “I didn’t mean to, you out of all people should know that. I would never intentionally do something to upset you.”
It was unfair to be mad at Neteyam. To be mad at you for moving on. Lo’ak took a moment to recompose himself, knowing well he had no right to be upset with either of you. You deserved someone who could give you everything, and Neteyam was just that - perfect. He could give you his whole life, whole heart served on a platter. But then, why did it sting so badly to picture you together?
“Okay, I understand,” Lo’ak finally spoke, the apple in his throat bobbing, “I have no claim over Y/N. She is a free woman now, so she can do whatever she wishes to do… I mean, as long as you make her happy -”
“No, Lo’ak, she rejected me,” Neteyam interrupted, feeling the sudden urge to stop assumptions from escalating, “She said she only saw me as a friend. I just wanted to let you know about how I felt.”
“Oh,” Lo’ak let out. He failed to deliver a humorous joke to ease the tension, “For once in my life, you want something that I have… rather, used to have.”
Neteyam’s expression softened, and he forced a breath out in an attempt to chuckle at that.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
The joy of the Tulkun returning sent the whole village into a long night of celebration; the clan members dressed up in their traditional garb, air was filled with rhythmic tunes, and the smell of mouth-watering food. You had never felt more uneasy to be at a celebration, suddenly regretting that you had made no other friends since your arrival to Awa’atlu. And you stood there awkwardly, looking around, when Neteyam had insisted on sitting with him and his family.
But Lo’ak was there, forced by his father to stay close. When he saw you being led by Neteyam’s hand, he felt something bubble in his chest. His family perked at the sight of you, greeting you with their usual smiles, and you shoot Lo’ak a shy look.
“Hey,” he mumbled awkwardly, so low, that his voice was barely registered by his family.
You mouthed it back with a softened gaze, and Lo’ak couldn’t help but smile. It was awkward but it didn’t hang heavily as it usually did when you and he were in a close proximity. Lo’ak felt a slight relief at the fact that you even acknowledged him, though he was convinced a part of it was because of his family being right there. Still, he decided to take it as a win.
Neteyam's tail swished with contentment as he sat close to you, occasionally grazing your back for comfort. You couldn't tell if it was intentional, but with Neteyam, it was hard to gauge how much thought he put into things. Regardless, you felt giddy by his touch.
The conversation between his family slowly started to flow, and you found yourself chuckling at their jokes, feeling as if you belonged again. And when Lo’ak attempted to add to a story about his father's first ride on tsurak, you couldn't help but snort in amusement. He shot you a grateful look for that. Of course, you’d laugh at Lo’ak’s jokes, you had been laughing at them your whole life. You guess, some things never change.
As the night wore on, you were pulled out of the conversation at a distinct melody that filled the space. You took notice of how couples began to shift in their seats, rising to their feet to join the dance. Lo'ak stood up too, clearing his throat awkwardly before he made a way to where the Olo'eyktan and his family sat. The realization hit you like a punch to the gut when you saw Tonowari nod approvingly, and Tsireya rushing to take Lo’ak’s hand and pull him into the dance. You did not miss the way the air left your lungs, as people suddenly started watching you, as if waiting for a reaction. You scooched closer to Neteyam, hanging your head, to hide yourself with your hair.
“You okay?” he asked, staring back angrily at those who looked at you. He stiffened at the thought of you having to go through something like that.
“No, actually,” you chuckled nervously, looking up at him, “It’s like everyone expects me to throw a fit or something.”
Neteyam scrunched up his face at the comment. He looked around one more time before opening up his palm to you.
“Would you like to dance with me? Maybe that will shut them up," he said.
You felt his mother’s eyes on you, as you pondered on the offer. You really weren’t in the mood to dance now, and besides, everyone out there was coupled up.
“I’m not sure it is a good idea,” you mumbled.
Neytiri stood to her feet, pulling Jake with her. She shot you an encouraging smile.
“Come, Y/N, let’s go dance,” she gestured for you to stand up too.
“Yeah, come on girls, you too. Tuk, Kiri,” Jake pitched with a grin, “Sully’s stick together.”
You watched with a smile as the whole family decided to join in on the dancing despite the melody being intended to be just romantic. Neteyam stood too, pulling you by the hand, and really, you had no other option but to give in. His gaze softened, sending your heart into a race, and you followed shyly after him to join the other dancing Na'vi.
As you watched Tsireya and Lo’ak together, memories of your own time with him invaded your mind, but strangely you weren't upset by that, just nostalgic. Neteyam didn't let you dwell on these thoughts for long, as he gently pressed his hands against your waist and led you through the dance. When you looked into his kind eyes, it felt like all of the pain from before had dissipated into thin air. You danced for what felt like hours, surrounded by his family's laughter, and lost in the rhythm. Finally, it felt like things were back to normal, and you could relax, until the night was ruined.
You were taking a break from the dancing, watching the Sully kids goofing around with a fond smile. You had missed seeing them this happy. While back home it was a usual sight, in Awa’atlu, they were rarely this carefree. Ao’nung, in his eagerness to entertain himself, slipped in to stand next to you with a wicked smirk on his lips. It didn’t take him long to reveal his intention of approaching you, as he made a comment vile enough to send shivers down your spine. You wanted to punch him, crawl his eyes out, but all you managed was to scurry away.
Ao’nung’s sweet moment of satisfaction was interrupted abruptly by an aggressive shove. He stumbled backward, eyes widening at the sight of Neteyam.
“What the hell?”
“What did you say to Y/N?” Neteyam exposed his canines, ignoring the looks they were now getting.
“Woah,” Ao’nung smirked knowingly, “Nothing but the truth -”
“Tell me what you told her,” Neteyam shoved him again, this time harder, “Now.”
“Fine, you wanna know?” Ao’nung sneered, “I pointed out how pathetic she is, truly unworthy to live amongst my clan. It’s honestly embarrassing that she couldn’t keep one brother, so she’s now feeding into the pity of the other, in hopes to lock him up.”
“From now on,keep your mouth shut and stay away from Y/N,” Neteyam warned, taking a step closer, his voice dripping with venom, “Or you’ll have me to deal with.”

Neteyam's heart felt heavy as he caught sight of you. You were in the exact same spot where he found you on that fateful night when Lo'ak shattered your heart into a million pieces. It was all too familiar - the darkness, the quiet sobs that filled the air. His mind flashed back to that night, the memory still fresh in his mind.
As he approached you, Neteyam couldn't help but notice the gentle glow of dozens of atokirinas that surrounded you, like tiny stars grazing your skin in comfort. With a long, heavy sigh, he sat down next to you, forcing you to meet his eyes with your red, puffy ones. The deep sadness started to cloud him, and Neteyam wanted nothing more than to take away your pain, to shield you from the cruel words that had been spoken by Ao'nung.
"Ugh, this is pathetic," you chuckled weakly, gesturing at yourself, "How are you going to rescue me every time?"
“I’ll be there as many times as you need me to,” Neteyam replied softly,
Neteyam's heart ached as he watched you avert your gaze and fight back tears. His mind raced, struggling to think of something to say that could ease your pain, so he pulled you into an embrace instead. His hands gently rubbed your back and head, trying to offer comfort as you buried your face into his chest. And the tears came harder than before, louder.
"He told me that no one else would look at me after Lo'ak, because I was pathetic," you sniffled, your voice breaking. "And he is right. Maybe I should just listen to him and leave.”
“Ao’nung is the biggest skxawng on this whole island, don’t you ever believe a single word that comes out of his mouth,” Neteyam said firmly, pulling away slightly to look into your eyes, “I see you, Y/N. You have a big heart, you’re brave and strong-willed, and there is absolutely nothing shameful about being loyal. You hear me?”
Your chest tightened with a flutter at the proximity of Neteyam, and your heart began to race as you found yourself lost in his deep amber eyes. It was getting harder to deny the pull you have felt towards him and have been feeling for the past many weeks, since the confession.
“I just want you to be happy,” he added.
“Being with you makes me happy,” you whispered.
He gulped down nervously, scared that it was yet another thing he’d misinterpret. That you were probably referring to his friendship with you, nothing more. But his cheeks flushed regardless, feeling a soft touch of the atokirinas settling on his shoulders. And as they surrounded the two of you, like a sign from Eywa, you brushed your hand against his chest.
“Neteyam,” you said, your voice dripping like honey to his ears, “There was one thing Ao’nung was right about… I like you,” you admitted.
Your eyes darted between his widened pupils and parted lips, mind clouded with his scent and the warmth of his touch, with the spell of the atokirinas swirling around you, as if they were blessing you. You could feel the way his breath hitched, when you leaned forward, and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. Without hesitation, he pulled you closer, his heart pounding so hard in his chest, he was afraid it would jump out. You were much more intoxicating than he had imagined, making him want to scream at the top of his lungs. His thumb rubbed gentle circles to the back of your neck, as you relaxed into him more, and fit perfectly into the curve of his body. Like you were made for him.
“I was too blind before,” you pulled away slightly, your lips curling up into a gentle smile.
Neteyam chuckled bitterly, the sound filled with disbelief and self-doubt. His hands found their way to your waist, bringing your body to his lap. He wanted to be sure that you really wanted this, that he didn’t just catch you in the heat of the moment. But his hesitance melted away, when you kissed him again.
“I see you too, Neteyam…”
He had never felt so alive, so happy, so loved.
