Both experiencing major headaches. In fact, they get headaches easier than others. If they don’t eat enough or take long periods of time without eating can result in headaches. Being tired can cause headaches. Quicker than normal and typically more painful.

Aquarius placements can be some of the most delusional people. They can lack self awareness. They are be so opinionated on others and what they’re doing. They can try so hard to pick apart what others have going on. As soon as someone says “you” to them, defense mode.

Leo and Capricorns have very similar energy. Both can be very sure of themselves and what they want. Both are goal oriented. Having both Leo and Capricorn in a natal chart, specifically in the big three, makes someone very reliable and independent. (My favorite type of placements tbh lol) Both energy care about how they’re perceived, they don’t do anything without thought. Contrary to popular belief, Leo’s are very calculated people. All earth signs are calculated in different ways of course. Capricorns in particular have a way of playing chess and making sure that they do things that benefit them in the long run. As far as these energies being together in a relationship, perfect match. Leo being a fixed sign, this energy wants to make things work. They are not easy to give up on things and people. They make change happen if need be but only to keep the stability in their connection with others. At the end of the day you can summarize that as being loyal. These people are considered the scout. The leaders. What this means is when it comes to relationships, they are more upfront about what they want and what their needs are. They enjoy people to let them take the lead. They are not afraid of pursuing people they want in their life. Romantically or friendship wise. They’re more picky and they are definitely more independent. It doesn’t take them long to move on. (cancers.. yeah maybe a little different but once they’re gone, it no way possible for anyone to get the back) They shoot their shot directly and can even be flirty. They do not beat around the bush at all. They like to jump straight into things. Sometimes this does backfire. Moving too fast into things. Rushing even. Thinking too far ahead. Sometimes they can stress themselves out by thinking too much into the future or may even be seen as bossy. Or pushy even.

Mutable

These people are more inclined to fluctuate. They love having variety and options. They tend to not sit still, ever. Always on the go. Tend to go well with someone who helps balance them out. They are not the neatest people, yes even Virgos. These people are not that straightforward I’ve realized only when it comes to things they aren’t passionate about. In comparison for cardinal signs, it doesn’t take much for them to pursue anything. These people struggle with finishing project, ideas, etc. They can have an idea that they sit on for days (or forever). These people are very creative though. Don’t underestimate their creativity. They just need that push to execute and consistency.

Fixed

These will be your most unconvincing, stubborn, my way or the highway type of people ever. They rarely change their minds. The way they’re used to something is how it will be for a long time. How they were raised shows up a lot in their adult life. These people enjoy routine. These people also love the thought of continuous things. These people don’t like forming deep relationships with new people. They will try to make things work. They will be very loyal people. Aquarius is known to be flaky. But they’ll be there for those who give them space and don’t conflict with their decisions and beliefs.

Literally don't know what I'm doing

‍♀️The 22° does represent a type of death (and y'all can cry about it). Death isn't always the leaving of the physical plane, it could be the active suppression of something that leaves one feeling not complete/whole.

🐍I have this degree on my Moon, and when I tell you people constantly try to make me suppress my emotions AND when I actively do so I don't feel as complete as when I'm being my normally expressive self. It feels like part of me is gone not that I'm physically gone.

‍♀️As someone with a Jupiter in my first house I have no idea where people got this happy go lucky idea from. I've been told countless times I'm more of a realist or even a pessimist at times. And no my Jupiter doesn't have a ton of negative aspects (there's more positive ones).

🐍I believe Jupiter First house is more of a sign of hyper awareness of self (hence the realism) not ignorance.

🐍My mom has a fifth house stellium but can't draw, color OR paint (despite taking plenty of art classes) to save her life. Yet she is an extremely good person with health based and routine problems (isn't a doctor but can easily tell you something a doctor would).

‍♀️The fifth house really can tell your preferences. I don't just mean "intellectual" or "sympathetic", it could also talk about the appearance and disposition of individuals as well.

🐍Gemini over the 5th can indicate the preference for androgynous (presentation, gender, energy) folks. That could be someone who dates gnc/non binary people more than cis or aligned trans folk. Or be with people who don't conform to gender roles (in a societal sense) by having equal masculine and feminine traits.

‍♀️I've been wondering when people were going to stop (over) hyping the K *insert literally anything* industry. And I realized it won't be until Neptune is out of Pisces. I made a post a hot minute ago about Korea being specifically the arts being linked to Neptune. And seeing that Neptune in Pisces high key started the globalization (the idea even) of many Korean based arts, it's not going to chill out until Neptune dances its way into Aries.

‍♀️Speaking of Neptune in Aries, we can expect a drastic change in media, the likes and overall expectations of the entertainment industry (that includes physical and digital artists as well). Since more "warish" "rough/hospitable" countries are ruled by Aries we could see the rise of heavy metal, folk (that includes heavy drumming not the more gentle one that's Cancer's domain), and loud, rough music.

🐍We would see a change from fantastical beauty being the standard to people who look like they've seen some shit. There would definitely be a decrease in cosmetic surgery HOWEVER it might also be an increase in steroid usage (everyone wants to look strong).

🐍We could also see more wars, aggression and overthrows during this time. The last time Neptune was in Aries was the mid 1800s. That was a time of government overthrowing, revolts around racial/ethnic inequality (Haitian Revolution, Civil War, Qing dynasty getting jumped, etc etc).

🐍We might actually see true differences made in the world due to this shift.

‍♀️I haven't really seen people talk about Uranus since last year so I just wanted to talk more about what this Taurus and future Gemini transit means.

🐍We have already seen banks and economies crashing. It's only been a few months of Uranus in Taurus and financial stability is looking like a whole joke. While this may not seem big to some or others may be looking forward to this, it's a very big cautionary sign. Since the world does rely on paper/coin currency having banks and whole economies flat line doesn't just mean we'll have some communist revolution, it means we'll have to quickly adapt to a skill base trade or watch the world go up in flames. We could see more wars, famines and disease due to this. I haven't seen anyone touch on the increasing tensions in the world due to the high inflation rates. Yes I mentioned more wars in the Neptune observation but with it corresponding with the current economic instability, yeah. We do have to learn trade/life skills because other things are becoming obsolete.

🐍Another Uranus in Taurus observation is the increased use in technology. You might be confused why this is being mentioned with Uranus and not Pluto, but I'll explain. Taurus is linked to stability and comfort (very similar to the 2nd house), and due to the ease technology gives many folks, it's not surprising we see more and more being used. This leans more into Uranus in Gemini, but AI technology will (for better or worse) become integrated into everyday life. That means communication will change drastically because teachers most likely won't be mostly humans but AI and robotic. Many languages might end up fully dying out by the time Gemini Uranus comes around because no one will be writing and verbalizing them anymore. In the near future I can already tell people will get more lazy in certain aspects leading to a decline in creativity and diversity. Because why should I have to think harder and be uncomfortable when there are things available to do that for me. We could see the rise of more mega cities (think Tokyo) due to human population clustering in certain areas and leaving others. Honestly the thing I can see happening and kinda fear is lack in biodiversity leading to us just cloning to make up for life lost.

‍♀️I said in a previous observation that Aquarius is linked to Nuerodivergence and now I figured out how. It relates more to the "physically visible" ones. I'm taking Tourettes, Epilepsy and Alzheimer's.

capricorn: likely to tire themselves out purposefully. it's not that they enjoy suffering, but natives of this sign can take their goals and aspirations to an extreme extent and neglect everything else along the way. the way capricorns experience burnout has a lot to do with their tendency to overestimate their earthy endurance, which often accumulates into tension long term and they may only realize the effects after months or even years of overextending their energy. they may also neglect the more emotional or spiritual side of themselves and focus on practicality, exhausting their physical resources and body in order to be productive. a good suggestion for capricorn is to take advantage of their organizational skills to separate some leisure time. (and turn your email notifications off!)

aries: similarly to their cardinal counterpart, capricorn, aries may also possess an extreme laser-focus, but it may be more scattered and a bit chaotic. they can be driven by their anger and their feisty disposition to achieve their goals, but often, if their motivations don't align with their true desires, they're bound to experience a great deal of burnout, especially mental. aries may also be reluctant to admitting they have a rough time finishing a certain project or being patient with themselves and the process. this can lead to them rushing several aspects of their work/life and cause a huge deal of stress if they aren't able to go with the flow. aries may benefit from meditation and self-soothing techniques, such as breathing practices.

pisces: its fluid and mutable nature, as well as its watery energy can make them so focused on their ideals in their mind that they may find difficult to execute their tasks. they can be highly critical of themselves and quite perfectionistic, which may even cause some procrastination. if they feel that their work or life doesn't measure up to their vivid imagination and expectations, they may fall into a lot of emotional stress and lack energy. these natives may also pick up random projects at wildly different times and lose interest in a few along the way. it's not that they can't be persistent - but they can change their mind so often that it can be hard to know when to start or stop a certain task. pisces can develop their practical skills and their rationality in order to remain organized. they may also benefit by grounding and being gentle with themselves.

scorpio: the intensity of scorpio's desires and depth may scare even themselves at certain points. they can become obsessive and if not careful, completely unafraid of burning out. even though they have a great ability for transforming and replenishing their energy in a powerful way, they can forget their own human weaknesses. the ruthlessness of their ambition can turn against them, especially if they feed into their insecurities and shadow aspects. when burnt out, they can become resentful, paranoid, impulsive or isolated. while they're admired for their accomplishments, they can forget to admire themselves. it's important for scorpio to care for their mental and emotional health, to fully embrace their human side and delegate tasks or projects. they can greatly benefit from venting and spending time with loved ones.

libra: libra's most common case of burnout seems to be social. as natural social butterflies and people-pleasers at times, if they're not aware of their boundaries and their time, they can become so engaged that they can experience compassion or social burnout, feeling like they've lost their spark by trying to maintain the peace and the balance in everything. they value their relationships so much that they can forget their own desires or decisions, even when it's well-intentioned. libras may feel that their existence is tied down to other people and overcommit to them. they may lose touch with their venusian nature, neglect their own bodies or stop caring for their appearance and personal hygiene altogether. by replenishing themselves with self-care rituals, good food and relaxing moments, they can easily return to their more balanced and diplomatic side without abandoning themselves entirely.

same with the former, this particular member has a lot to show off from their plate. they’re talented and creative that anything is okay for them. they may take risks but instead of causing for a failure— they’re able to pull it off. unlike with the first, this member could be unreasonably strict and are really set with her beliefs. while we could say the first member may have power, authority, and control. this one has as well and it seems like its far more greater too? she’s very set with her stone of path and are able to see whats her future vision while being emotional open and are able to create friendships, too. positive future :) she could be imagining her future as an idol already. very sure with herself. this member could have the leadership title. very rational to be honest she might think with her head than her heart. might have a big ego and is stubborn as well, whether its in a good way, whether its for herself, for the others or not. though she can actually manage being emotional open and having the ability to pull off her logical charasteristics at the same time! she knows how to set aside her emotions and be logical. vice versa. This is actually a pretty simple answer and one of the few questions I love answering lmao

Sister Signs/Stereotypes of Sun Signs

What you just described sounds like following the typical archetype of our sun signs and forgetting that within each sign will always be the sister sign. To save time I'll just link back to this post which I heavily agree with. You have to remember that at the end of the day, the modality will always determine the energy of the sign. The element (+ house if you know your birth time) will dictate where you're spending that energy, but it doesn't change the modality at all. Cardinals will always be dedicated to creating and moving -- starter energy (power hungry cancer which is opposing cap). Fixed signs will want to stay comfortable and maintain what is working -- keep the gears running (follower aquarius). Mutable signs need to be adaptable -- taking up many positions and fitting in with many people/things (messy virgos -- which actually is a legitimate trait of theirs lmao).

Rising Signs + Houses

If you do happen to know the person's birth time, this would probably help but the first section is more than enough. A rising sign will make it a lot easier to figure out why a sun sign isn't 'acting like it should' even though there's more to it than modern buzzwords. Using me for an example, only one person offline has guessed that I am a cancer within the first few tries -- it's always the last guess. Even here an anon said they forget that I am and assume I'm an Aquarius (which is my rising anyway). I have two fixed signs taking up my big three and then I have all my water energy sitting in an earth based house, so it's not too obvious that I have cancer energy until I actually open up -- which is very cancerian, isn't it. The point being, a sun sign might not be operating like you expect it to because it's sitting in another house or making strong aspects to make it behave differently etcetcetc.

There's a lot of qualities within the signs that you sent in that are...quite common in the signs actually LMAO, I don't think people talk a lot about it but if the signs have a squares on their suns in regards to the moon or asc in their chart, they are probably more prone to exhibiting these qualities. (I know some aries suns who aren't necessarily two-faced but they lean more to the 'libra axis' and are working on these qualities, just like I have cancer qualities but I can feel when 'capricorn traits' come out within me during certain scenarios)

making an astro notes post for the first time bc why not! this is all in good fun and not to be taken too seriously! these observations are drawn from personal experience and my own perspective so please take what resonates and leave what doesn’t!

🌷 gemini moons will tell the same story to the same people over and over again. they don’t mean to, they just forget who they’ve told what to who. also, these natives may over share when they are around new people due to them being so communicative. please be careful of what you share! some people will use what they know against you lovies, i’ve seen it 👀

🌷 i’ve noticed that a lot of water asc (cancer mainly) esp with earth placements are more likely to get piercings rather than tattoos. the piercings are usually in a hidden area, and if they do decide on a tatt, it may be hidden as well

🌷 while we’re on the topic of body art, fire and air asc are usually ones to get inked while earth and water asc are usually ones to get pierced. those with mutable dominance may have multiples of both, cardinal dom may have more tattoos, and fixed dom may have more piercings. for example, my mom (mutable dom) is a virgo sun, pisces moon, scorpio asc with both, while my bf (fixed dom) is a taurus sun, leo moon, cancer asc with just traegus piercings, and i (cardinal dom) am a virgo sun, cancer moon, aries asc with mainly tatts

🌷 something i’ve noticed is that the degree your sign is in can posses qualities or traits relating to the ruler of that degree! and this applies to any placement! for example, if you have an aquarius asc in 13° degrees (an aries degree), you may relate to and/or show aries traits and behavior. i noticed in my own natal chart that my cancer moon is in 10° (a capricorn degree) and that i have always struggled with expressing and verbalizing my emotions, even to people that are close to me, out of fear of appearing weak and vulnerable

🌷 also if you are interested in or are studying astrology degrees, i have a tip to share in remembering the pattern. the number of degrees correlate with the order of the zodiac, so 1° degree would be aries ruled, 2° degrees would be taurus ruled, 3° degrees would be gemini ruled, and so on and so forth. it follows that same order until it reaches 29° degrees (leo ruled) and stops!

🌷 pluto in 8th are the ones with the real scorpio traits idc idc idc!!! the only reason it isn’t as evident is because pluto doesn’t show herself until she is provoked or drawn out. these people will walk around with this intensity in them that is so captivating and piercing and terrifying but they only let you see what they want you to! remember, pluto is at home in the 8th, which can cause the native to resonate with the dark and secretive nature of a scorpio (even more so if aspecting the asc). sex, finance, and death are all primary aspects associated with the sign of scorpio, which rules the 8th house, and is ruled by pluto....i’ll let y’all ruminate on that

🌷 capricorn midheavens can have the most difficult time figuring out what career path they want to pursue. there’s also this profound fear of failure and feelings of doubt on careers that they may want to try but are too afraid to do it. they usually have skills and passions in many areas which is why it’s so hard for them to pick one thing

🌷 to piggyback off of the last observation, cancer moon/moon in 4th may lean towards tough love instead of constant nurturing and doting when dealing with kids. they know how awful the world is and have seen it firsthand, most likely during childhood, so they want their kids to be prepared to protect their hearts like they do. they’re also able to see them as people who deserve to be spoken to on the same level as anyone else. kids are very smart and retain a lot more than people give them credit for, and due to cancer moon/moon in 4th natives being so emotionally intelligent at a young age, it makes it easier for them to navigate dealing with children as adults. they may resonate with that overwhelming feeling that a lot of kids get when they’re sad or angry and are able to guide the child to process and express their emotions in a healthy and productive manner

Energy Update: October 2021

October is a “6” Universal Month {10(October) + 5 (2021) = 15 = 1+5 = 6}. For most of us, the quiet introverted energy of the number 6 is going to be a deep breath of relief after September which with its 5 energy made us feel like we needed to scurry, hurry, and do away, even when there was nothing left to do.

6 Energy is in perfect alignment with the harvest season as it encourages home, support, empathy, and even stillness. 6 carries to pause of expectancy, much like you experience within the Inguz rune. Within the 6 energy, perhaps, we can find the balance we would otherwise be sorely lacking this Libra season.

The Setup

The Sun, Mercury, and Mars are all in Libra heading towards a stellium (conjunct of three or more planets) that will peek slightly after our Libra new moon. Venus is ahead of the gang in Scorpio. Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Chiron all begin this month in retrograde. This is the nadir of retrograde season. The air is hazy, perceptions may be a bit off. Sink into the 6 energy by spending time in your home – go deep with your space. That will be an antidote to this energy all month long. This is a great month to do a deep seasonal clean. Donate the things that no longer serve you. Hold a seed, plant, or clothing swap. Get together with your loved ones to have a good meal. Stay close to home. Mercury retrograde in Libra is going to bring a lot of the retrograde tension into our relationships to remember to make space for conflict and try to find a solution that fits all people involved. Watch out for stickler issues around people-pleasing and unhealthy compromises. You can refer to my post about Mercury in retrograde for those details.

There are big shifts happening this month, we will end the month with the Sun and Mars in Scorpio, Venus in Sagittarius, and with Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury stationed direct. When the planets stand still while they station, it can feel like life is also standing still. We will be going into and out of this retrograde fog until Mercury and Jupiter station direct on 10/18. I reiterate: you may feel helpless to affect anything outside of your immediate home right now, but you can always have an effect on your home. Tap into the 6 energy to make your home a perfect haven for you and your others.

As Saturn begins his ascent forward again, he will tighten the ongoing square with Uranus in Taurus – this is our force paradox beginning to re-exert the vice grip we’ve been stuck in all year long. If you feel like you can’t make any headway, know that you are right on time.

The Nitty Gritty

This month we are being asked to sink deep into the root of it. We are at the end of a cycle, during the new year our lunar nodes will transition from the Gemini-Sagittarius axis to that of Taurus-Scorpio. Something deep inside all of us needs to shift to accommodate these changes that are happening all around us. This is a time to go slow and really tune in to your own rhythm.

This month has a lot going on: we will experience two cardinal T-squares between Aries-Libra-Capricorn, 1 Air Grand Trine between Moon-Mars-Jupiter, 1 Air stellium of Sun-Moon-Mercury-Mars in Libra, three planetary ingresses, and four planets that station direct and out of retrograde. Every one of our planets are fully engaged in this transformative moment.

The MVP for the month is going to be Pluto in Capricorn. Here we see echoes of all of 2020 but most specifically last Autumn when Mars went retrograde in Aries and squared off with Pluto in Capricorn. Now, one year later, in the opposite sign, Mars will do so again alongside the Sun and Mercury. Pluto is also, ironically, the first of the planets to move out of retrograde. He also rules one of our two cardinal T-squares of the month. Some outdated form or structure needs to die. Agreements are being tested. Loyalties are being questioned.

Mercury and Pluto clash twice more this cycle: they square off while they are both retrograde on 10/1 and then later when they are both direct on 11/2. These are part of a series of ongoing cardinal squares we’ve been experiencing since the very beginning of 2020. The Sun squares Pluto on 10/17 and Mars squares Pluto on 10/23. Additionally, our full moon in Aries on 10/20 is overshadowed by an intense cardinal T-square as the moon in Aries squares off against Pluto in Capricorn and opposes retrograde Mercury in Libra. All of these dates should be approached with a reasonable amount of caution. Pack your patience and expect some explosions. Pay special attention to when Mars and Pluto square off in the sky – those are fighting words. It may be difficult to escape the adrenaline rush of quick reactions but it is wiser during this time to step back and sit with things before leaping.

Again, the 6 energy of October can really support Sun and Mars in Libra’s ideal of everybody getting an even slice of the pie. Dig into this. Where are you taking too much? Where are you not giving enough? Start small this month – look at your own body. Think about how you take care of yourself. Or, if you are more inclined, take a deep look at how you are taking care of your living space. Check on all of your plants. Do a roommate-style check-up with any humans that you live with. Spend some time with your pets. Come back to center by grounding yourself in your safe home, in your body, in this moment.

Mercury makes two additional trines to Jupiter in Aquarius during its retrograde cycle while both are retrograde on 10/3 and later when both are direct on 11/1. This is a fast-moving transit but can provide insight and luck when needed.

As the first full week of October progresses, the Sun, Mercury, and Mars fall into line for a stellium that lights up the sky when joined by the moon on 10/6. This is a big power day. If you have been looking for a day to find your new path, this one is it. Just remember, Mercury is still in retrograde so you may see your path only to have it obscured in the mists again. Look towards 11/6-11/7 when Mercury will again conjunct Mars (this time in Scorpio) for a day to put this new path into action.

On 10/7 Venus enters Sagittarius and the mood will get marginally lighter. Venus in Sagittarius is mutable fire energy – she wants you to let your heart roam. You might find yourself more interested in trying new things and going on adventures while Venus is in the sign of the archer. The excitement of Saggy bear energy will get tamped down quickly by the retrograde haze so don’t expect to follow through on those beautiful but whimsical plans anytime soon.

The weekend of 10/8-10/10 is a great time to take one big cosmic pause. Stay home. Say no. Take a bath instead. The Moon, Venus, and the South Node will make a brief conjunction at 02° Sagittarius just as Venus goes out of bounds. A planet is considered out of bounds when it goes above the tropic of Cancer, or, in this case, below the Tropic of Capricorn. These points reflect the plurality of the solstices and Summer-Winter connection. Planets that are out-of-bounds can be hard to reach – you may find it harder to access your feelings of empathy or may be down on yourself more about your physical appearance while Venus is out of bounds. This may be especially rough for our Venus-ruled Libras who are already undergoing an intense Mercury retrograde transit in their chart.

Be wary here. There’s a lot of prickle to the world these days and something about Venus going out of bounds right now reminds me a bit of checking out instead of dealing with what is going on in your own life. That won’t cut it through this year – through these hard aspects – you really need to settle in and do the work. There is so much to be gained right now by showing up and staying aware with yourself through these adjustments.

What is coming up during this time needs to be addressed. With so many personal planets involved, something close to home needs attending to. This weekend and really the whole month would be very counter-indicated for going away. Watch for who runs rather than showing up. On Sunday, Saturn stations direct at 06° Aquarius – this immediately reactivates our Saturn-Uranus square and tensions will begin to rise a bit. This is a long-term aspect that doesn’t resolve until the end of the year so there’s not much to do other than observe it now.

We experience our second cardinal T-square on 10/12 as Mercury retrograde in Libra squares off with the Moon in Capricorn and opposes Chiron retrograde in Aries. This is a major pain point, something that has been brought to light during this Mercury retrograde cycle.

This Mercury-Chiron oppositional peeks on 10/18 and will continue strong for another week or so. Mercury’s post-shadow stretched through the rest of October and into November, remember that we need to retrace our steps back through Libra before the lessons of this retrograde cycle will be fully revealed.

Mercury is joined by Jupiter going direct also on 10/18 – this is a go day. Do it. Make a difference. Make a plan. Make a list. You are supported.

The energy should shift drastically as the Sun enters Scorpio on 10/22 and Mars follows on 10/30. We might feel a bit like we’ve jumped from one deep pool to another as Scorpio season hints immediately at its own depths and the eclipse season that comes with it.

Our sweet Air Grand Trine happens on Monday 10/25 when the Moon in Gemini lines up briefly with Mars in Libra and Jupiter in Aquarius. This is another go day. Think big. We are starting to feel the pull of forward momentum now that some of the retrograde fog has lifted. The last week of October holds the lightest energy of the month – again, ironically.

As if we are walking this month backward, like Merlin. Spirit reminds me that he was another traveler who walked the low path.

All in all the energy of the month is going to be dense and prone to internalization. How you perceive that and how comfortable it makes you have a lot to do with your personal chart and comfort with self-reflection. Watch out for emotional regulation or disassociation especially around any of those harsh aspects between the moon, Mercury, Mars, and Pluto. Watch out for denial and rose-colored glasses – the world is trying to tell you something for a reason – it’s time to stop ignoring your gut instincts. It’s the time for you to show up every day, as often as you are able, for yourself.

October 2021 Important Dates

AKA my notes on The Astrology Podcast’s October Forecast. Dates are based off US Mountain Time and may be a day earlier in the Eastern Hemisphere.

We’re going into the month with a Mercury that has just stationed retrograde in Libra. This was part of a larger stellium in Libra, including Mars there, and our hosts mention events at the Met Gala manifesting Austin’s images of Mars in the art gallery for last month’s podcast.

Additionally, after a few months of hiatus, this is going to be Kelly’s last episode 😭😭 She’s going to be focusing on her own projects, including classes and writing her book. She’s been doing this show with Chris for five years  so it’ll be sad to see her go, but she’s got her on YouTube channel (kellysastrology) for any who want to keep up with her.

Here’s the astro weather for the first week of October (3rd-9th)

October 3rd - Mercury (rx) trine Jupiter (pictured weekly but not monthly) Due to the retrograde, Mercury has been within 3° of trine with Jupiter and will continue to be so over the next couple weeks, and he’s also hanging out in close orb to a square with Pluto. Pluto as a planet calls us to investigate the unconscious or investigate power dynamics, which when contacting Mercury can give us a quality of truth serum. Pluto can open the door to the underworld, and Mercury can traverse all three realms mythologically, so we can describe this contact with images of exploring underground caves and tunnels--getting lost, not knowing what you’ll find, or initiation rituals. With Jupiter involved we also see the search for truth and expanding--think of searching for the truth in a way that small things get blown up into something much larger. This sequence will come back to us strongly in early November.

October 6th - New Moon in Libra, Pluto stations Direct The New Moon at 13° of Libra, with Mars conjunct both the Sun and Moon at that degree as well (Mars conjuncts the Sun one day every two years). This adds a sharp, itchy or irritating quality to this lunation, which is further emphasized by the Moon’s ruler Venus being in Mars’s sign Scorpio. With Mars in a difficult place, and with Pluto moving around here, this is the start of something that’s not quite apparent yet (we won’t be able to see Mars in the sky for awhile). Mars in Libra reminds us of tact and decorum--how do we follow the rules of engagement and still be effective? Mars being invisible takes us hidden into the earth, looking at the source of our conflicts.

Pluto stationing direct after a veeery long retrograde will further blow things out of proportion--making small things big and big things small. (See the previous transit for more on Pluto.)

October 7th - Venus enters Sagittarius With all these planets in Libra, it’ll be a nice break to have Venus leave Scorpio. Mutable, firey Sagittarius will get things going again--thought it may take a couple days to really feel because Venus is on the South Node when she first enters the sign. The Moon will join both of these at 2° of Sagittarius as well, really emphasizing the themes of the eclipse cycle from earlier this year. Additionally, rx Mercury will conjoin Mars in her sign Libra while Venus experiences decrease from the Dragon’s Tail, so be prepared for some combativeness.

October 9th - Sun conjunct Retrograde Mercury in Libra This is the renewal of Mercury’s synodic cycle, and while he’s combust when close enough to be hidden by the Sun, this exact moment elevates our solar consciousness. It’s a moment to experience a pure Mercury in Libra archetype.

Here’s the weekly astro weather for the week of October 10th:

October 10th - Saturn stations Direct in Aquarius Kelly describes this as a slow change of gears, or a change in situations where we’ve been treading water. Saturn’s getting ready to do more work in Aquarius (he’ll station direct in the sign again next year). This is going to intensify whatever Saturn’s trek through Aquarius has brought up for us. This is a good time to rearrange things before we start to have more trouble from the fixed signs in November.

Week of October 17th:

October 18th - Jupiter stations Direct in Aquarius, Mercury stations Direct in Libra Now the ball’s really rolling--Jupiter, for one, is prepping for his last hurrah in Aquarius, so this station is like an intermission before the final act of a show. Jupiter’s trek into Pisces corresponded with some lockdown restrictions loosening up in the US, so his direct station near dry, separating Saturn may indicate some new developments along those lines (likely involving some intellectual, technology-based fix).

Mercury in Libra, along with Mars and the Sun, will be making trines over to Jupiter in Aquarius, so these houses of our natal charts may be finding some harmony and help with each other.

October 20th - Full Moon at 27 Aries The Sun and Moon are squaring Pluto as well, with Mars conjoining the Sun and adding extra pressure to this lunation. Mars trines Jupiter the day before, which may offer a more constructive path, but he also squares Pluto the day after, so we may have some subtle and complex issues going on. We’ll have a more direct image of this when Mars enters domicile in Scorpio later in the month. A strong Mars can just power through whatever it needs, but when something’s sapping his vitality that might not be sustainable.

October 23rd - Sun enters Scorpio With the advent of Scorpio season comes the beginning of pressure on that Saturn-Uranus square. The Venus-Jupiter sextile on the 28th is a little treat for us before we experience the astrology of November, which Austin predicts to be the most challenging month of the year.

Week of October 24th:

October 30th - Mars enters Scorpio Mars will spend a couple months in this sign, activating the Saturn-Uranus square, and with eclipses coming up as well, things are really ramping up. Mars will also become visible before dawn again while in Scorpio. This is the beginning of this year’s final bout of fixed sign tensions--with Mars in Taurus on January 6th, and Mars in Leo back in July, I have no doubt we’re going to see some big world events next month. Mars has a lot of dignity and will square dignified Saturn as well, with Uranus aggravating their tensions once again.

Once a revolution gets started, there’s no way of stopping it. Be careful with what conflicts you join, lest you get stuck having to endure a war of attrition, according to Austin. Kelly reminds us that troops can only hold out as long as there are supplies, and Chris advises viewers to build up our supplies in October so we’re prepared to hunker down and weather the coming conflicts.

How to read/calculate your birth chart

From time to time I get people who are absolutely brand new to astrology, so I figured I should make this post and add it to my FAQ for reference. In this post I’ll demonstrate step by step how to calculate and read your chart via Astro.com.

*This is just a simple guide; you will still be required to research on specific topics such as basic understanding of symbols in astrology.

Calculating Your Chart

Step 1

Create an account on Astro.com 

Step 2

Under ‘Free Horoscopes,’ you will find ‘Extended Chart Selection’ and it will take you to the chart calculating/format page.

Step 3

If you haven’t already inputted your birth info, you can do this now under ‘Add a New Person’

On the Extended Chart Selection page, it gives you options for how your chart will be calculated and formatted. The default House System will likely be set to “Placidus,” but I strongly recommend changing this to “equal” as it will be easier to understand and is the way I read birth charts.

You don’t need to change any other settings from here, however you’re welcome to. Under ‘Display and calculation options” you can adjust what planets or objects will be included in your chart, you can adjust the aspect orb, and you can change aspect allowances. Under ‘Additional objects’ you can choose to include certain asteroids and objects as well. I personally like to include Pallas, Ceres, Vesta, and Juno, but these are by no means required. 

Step 4

‘Click here to show the chart’ will take you to the actual chart page. This is your calculated chart.

The table below the circular chart lists the placements and aspects. Take note of the planetary symbols next to their names as this will help you learn the symbols and understand the circular chart better. 

The aspect chart (the staircase looking table) can be read by looking at one of the symbols (triangle, square, angle, etc.) and the planetary symbol above it and the planetary symbol to the right indicates which two planets are making this aspect. This page on Astro will give you a brief explanation on what the aspect symbols are. You definitely do not need to focus on aspects if you’re a beginner, but this may be good to refer back to when you’re ready to learn about them.

Looking at the circular chart, you’ll notice it resembles a pie with twelve slices. You will see that these twelve slices are numbered (near the centre). These numbers represent the Houses. Where the houses start is indicated by your Ascendant (AC in your chart. Ascendant can also be referred to as Rising sign). From the exact degree of your Ascendant, 12 slices can be marked around the circle in 30 degree intervals. In my case, my ascendant is marked at 22 degrees in Leo therefore my first house starts at 22 degrees in Leo, my second house starts at 22 degrees in Virgo, my third house starts at 22 degrees in Libra, and so on. The equal 30 degree slices are the result of the equal house system; other house systems will give you different house layouts. Placidus, for example, will give you different sized houses starting at different points (so you might be able to see why I recommend the equal house system.)

Still looking at the circular chart, you will see the planetary symbols sitting in these pie slices with a little number next to them. The little number next to the planetary symbols indicates in what degrees the planet is in the sign (note; the SIGN, not the house. The signs have their own ‘cusps’ apart from the houses which are also in 30 degree increments). So if you take a look at my Sun for example (circle with a dot symbol) it is sitting in the 4th pie slice (fourth house) at 16 degrees in Sagittarius. 

If you continue to look at my Sun in the 4th in Sagittarius, you will notice that a red line is pointing to it and connecting to Jupiter. This is considered an aspect. Aspects show the relationships between planets in our birth chart. If you refer back to the staircase table and where the Sun meets Jupiter, you will see a square symbol. This symbol indicates that the Sun and Jupiter are forming a square aspect.

The 3x4 table to the right of the staircase table keeps score of how many planets of the same element or same mode you have. C - Cardinal, F - Fixed, M - Mutable and F/Red - Fire, A/Yellow - Air, E/Green - Earth, W/Blue - Water. This will give you a basic and quick idea of the general emphasis of your chart. It only takes you really a second to realize that I’m a fire dominant with a significant lack of earth just by looking at this table. 

Reading Your Chart; Where to Start?

1. The Big Three

Locate your Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. These three placements are almost always the most important placements in your chart. Identify their meanings, their significance to the house they are in, and look into what their relationships are with other planets in your chart.

2. Your Chart Ruler

Your ascendant indicates what your chart ruler is. Your chart ruler is the planet that your ascending sign rules over. For example, if you are a Taurus or Libra ascendant, then your chart ruler would be Venus. Look at the condition of your chart ruler, is it in a sign that works well for it? What aspects are being made to it? What house is it in?

3. Day VS Night Chart

Your ascendant’s line is what divides the chart into two hemispheres. The top half of your chart is considered the Southern Hemisphere whereas the bottom half is considered the Northern Hemisphere. Depending on if your Sun is placed above (Southern) or below (Northern) the ascendant’s line will indicate whether you have a Day chart or a Night chart. In Day charts, the Sun has more priority and the chart’s main benefic planet is Jupiter. In Night charts, the Moon has more priority and the chart’s main benefic planet is Venus. You can find many other significances with Day VS Night charts that are worth researching into.

4. North Node

Your North Node placement is going to be one of the most eye-opening placements to look into. Definitely should not go overlooked. 

5. Midheaven 

Your Midheaven, also synonymous with your 10th house, gives some insight to future career or life goals. This represents where you will build your legacy. 

6. Love indicators (for those who are interested in this)

Your chart can imply insight to how you behave in love and the type of people you attract/may be most compatible with. The points you will want to research for this are Venus (romantic expression/aesthetic expression), Mars (sexual expression), and your Descendant/7th house. The asteroid Juno is a bonus you may want to look into. 

7. Jupiter and Saturn.... And the rest of the planets

Eventually you’ll want to look into the rest of the planetary positions in your chart. Jupiter typically suggests our eases and opportunities in life whereas Saturn indicates inhibitions and fears. There’s some really interesting things to unpack from these planets based on their sign and house position. When looking at the planets, you should also consider their condition as planets do better in certain signs and worse in others. This is considered exaltation VS debilitation. Outside of a planet’s ruled sign, it has a sign it exalts in, a sign it is debilitated in, and a sign it is detriment in. Planets in their ruling or exalted sign have significant influence on the chart.

8. What stands out?

When you look at your chart, what stands out to you? Any particular aspect shapes? Any over emphasis in one sign (Stellium)? Any major conjunctions? If it stands out, it’s likely important and should be looked into. Take my chart for example, there is a very obvious triangle shape in it; this is called a grand trine. There are other chart patterns too, as this is just one, that can lead a big impact in one’s chart. 

9. Literally at this point, go down the rabbit hole.

By this point, you would have gone over many of the main points of your chart and you can explore any particular point or section now! Aspects? The rest of the houses? Asteroids maybe?

To summarize, I want to emphasize that this is just a simple guide that will require research. Google, books, and forums are your best friend when it comes to researching astrology. Overall, I hope this post makes sense.

And I sense that you are definitely surrounded by fire signs in your life! Confirm it for me? I just feel like, if you do, they definitely influence this beautiful energy that you radiate. This planet, folks, is The One to pay attention to. Its transits affect everyone, without fail.

Saturn in Aquarius is just as strong as Saturn in Capricorn: both signs are ruled by Saturn, although it must share Aquarius with Uranus. And that brings me to The Three Big Deals of 2021, namely, those three squares between Saturn/Aquarius (strongly placed) and Uranus/Taurus (in its fall).

It always makes me scoff when I hear or see people say that Aquarius is a leftist, revolutionary sign. The 40th President of the US, Ronald Reagan (devil take him), was an Aquarius - he was revolutionary, all right, but in a decidedly conservative and reactionary direction. What Aquarius is (among other things), is ideological. It’s a fixed air sign; its opinions are set, and nothing will change its mind. Expect a lot of demands to adhere 100% to this or that orthodoxy. No shades of gray allowed; all is black or white.

The squares between Saturn and Uranus, according to Michelle Perrin in the 2021 Llewellyn Daily Planetary Guide, show that

We are turning a corner into a new age without really realizing we have left the old one behind, creating a time where new paradigms are no longer relevant but a new social order has yet to congeal into anything solid.

This particular square, with Saturn 270 degrees ahead of Uranus in the Zodiac, is a “Last Quarter” square. We’re turning away from what was hatched and brought to fruition after the Saturn-Uranus conjunctions of 1988 - we’re tearing down old structures that don’t work any more - and we get to do all that, without having a strong sense of where we’re headed next. (Namely, the one-and-done Saturn-Uranus conjunction, at 28:01 Gemini, on June 28, 2032.)

(If you were alive way back in 1988, think back to what was going on at the time in terms of larger cycles finishing and starting. The conjunctions were all in late Sagittarius: 29:55, 28:47, and 27:49.)

Saturn in Aquarius has particular challenges and lessons for us all to learn. The following is a synthesis between Isabel Hickey (Astrology A Cosmic Science), Steven Forrest (mostly The Book of Earth), and me.

“Tests of ownership. He who has no desire to possess has no fear of loss.” This is of course a very Taurus thing, as the sign is too apt to equate material stability with security. Uranus’ transit through Taurus is determined to demolish that misconception, and this year he’ll have some help from Saturn. We know we’re messing up here, when we give “too much power to money and security.”

“Test of true humility and lovingness. Denied the love sought in this lifetime until the spiritual bookkeeping is balanced.” Leo is all about himself being The Star, while Aquarius counters with “you’re only one star in a whole universe full of stars.” Can we shine without making it all about us? Overweening egos are due for a smackdown. Conversely, we can become too overwhelmed by “stage fright,” and refuse to share something that humanity desperately needs.

“Test of outgoing desire. Desire nature is extremely strong and until that is brought under control there is much suffering and pain.” Such a pitfall for all the fixed signs - not getting one’s own way 100%, but instead having to compromise, adapt, adjust, etc. - but especially for Scorpio. This may also manifest as needing to get over the typical Scorpio broody gloominess, into a more positive frame of mind.

“Test of responsibility. The soul must accept the responsibility of regeneration and be about the Father’s business.” I’m pretty sure what “Issy” meant was that we have to stop trying to keep up with the Joneses, and start trying to help our fellow humans. But there’s another danger here, namely the stereotypical Aquarian detachment from emotions. The sign can be too cold, and that eventually begets sociopaths.

When Saturn travels between 1:37 and 6:53 Aquarius: placements will receive a one-and-done aspect from transiting Saturn. Examples: Ms M’s natal Mars/Aries will receive a one-and-done sextile; Ms M’s natal Juno/Leo will receive a one-and-done opposition. (Like it matters if she’s single!?!)

When Saturn travels between 6:53 and 13:31 Aquarius: Saturn spends most of his time here, not only for 2021 but going a couple of weeks into 2022. Any placements affected by this will get three separate aspects. The first one will bring a situation to our attention; the second, retrograde aspect will give us further insights into the situation; the third and final aspect will allow some resolution, if we work for it. 

(This part is making Ms M apprehensive, since it’s going to trigger her natal fixed grand cross: Asc/Scorpio, Venus and Desc in Taurus, both squared by Ceres and Uranus in Leo, and by Pholus in Aquarius. Empty nest?)

Even more fun is that transiting Uranus/Taurus will be wreaking havoc at the same time. It will travel between 6:48 and 14:49 of Taurus in 2021, and as you can see it overlaps the same degrees as Saturn. If you have fixed placements between 6:53 and 13:31 (that is, anything in the signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius), there is some hard work in your future. Even if it’s for something better to manifest, and even when we know that intellectually, we’re still reluctant to let go of control.

This also goes for mutable placements (the signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces) between 21:53 and 28:31; Saturn and Uranus will semi-square (45 degrees) or sesquare (135 degrees) that placement, making for a lot of frustration. You won’t be able to wiggle out of consequences, as easily as you normally do.

If you have placements between 6:53 and 13:31 of the signs Aries, Gemini, Libra, or Sagittarius - lucky you! You’ve got some flowing energy between Saturn and that placement, and although it doesn’t guarantee a less painful time, you’ll at least have an easier time coming to grips with it. In The Book of Earth, Steven Forrest starts out every description of transiting Saturn aspects, with the words “Growing pains.” That description is perfect. The stakes are a little higher, and the process more complex, than simply getting physically taller, though. Steven says that during “Saturn times,” we need to intentionally select a challenge, then give it everything we’ve got. The reward is that we move forward to the next maturational stage; if we refuse, we end up trapped in the past. Here are a couple more quotes from the Saturn section of Steven’s The Book of Earth.

“Saturn is not narrowly about old age; it is simply about whatever is the next step for us.” Growing up, in other words. As I have said on this blog many times before, the “only” thing that happened to me during my first Saturn return, was getting married. That was still a big deal in 1987: I assumed a different societal role (remember Saturn’s association with the 10th House), in a very traditional way (natal Saturn in Sagittarius). Perhaps it is because, as a small girl, I had four Crone figures in my life; perhaps it’s all the Aries in me, trined by my natal Saturn - but I wasn’t afraid, instead embracing the new opportunities.

“Saturn is not bad - but it is quite fair to say that it is hard.” My guess is that this is the one that frightens many 20-somethings - not to mention people who are much, much older and ought to know better. “Hard” does not equal “bad”!

Saturn in Aquarius is all about (1) knowing your own values and (2) living up to them. Anybody else’s approval, or disapproval, is completely irrelevant - and we need to accept that, even if “anybody else” doesn’t. We need to question authority, and also what’s known as “conventional wisdom.” We need to work on becoming more “authentic.” And we need to become comfortable with some solitude (2020 has been a great training ground for that), without isolating ourselves emotionally. There are a few people at least who will understand and accept you; get off your ass and put yourself in the way of finding them.
