Little quick redesign of Imp Wally inspired by @killertoons design, since my old design just wasn't as cute and I personally feel I've gotten better at drawing Wally! I had to of course add Home, or rather Monster House inspired home and I had a lot of fun experimenting with a more detailed background in a doodle that turned into a thought out sketch. My reference actually, was this piece of Sam merch I WANT SO BAD......

My mini contribution to @echoes-lighthouse's Evil Slasher Orphanage! My wife Anna and I are here to help, and brought a few more kids of our own.

I really thought I was a horror fan until I sat down to draw this and came up blank. I guess I'm not a slasher guy, because a LOT more Monsters and Beasts came to mind, so it took a while to form a list. Though I did include Sam who is certainly a Creeture but.. They're human enough.

OHOHO i have a few.. ill go through them in order from newest to oldest!!! ill put them under a readmore though because there are a few images and the post is very long otherwise!

first we have MOBBU!! (ignore the bootleg wataeis!!) i got him about a month go on a shopping trip with my sister and her middle school bestie! i know hes not an animal but im mentioning him becos he my sweet <3

next we have max plushie! max is from the Sam and Max franchise! hes basically a Vague Rabbit Creature. hes also canonically gay and in feral rabid love with his partner in detective and vigilante crimes, Sam! currently hes in desperate need of a bath. but really i think hes happy like this.. dirty and disgusting.

(i really should put him in the warsh though since i cuddled him constantly while sick with sinus infection weheh)

next are these assorted kirbys + gengar! theyre from last year on hot topic trips with my beloved sister! i originally bought them for her but her bed over at her dorm isnt big enough to accommodate all of them so theyre for me for now >:33 peep tatsun pasha and my.. disassembled shelves GDHBDND

good mention! the amongus plushie my bestie coworkers got for me! 🥹 i have really sweet memories associated with this one.. i started my job back in april 2022 and i was so girlslay, i was awarded partner of the quarter in i think.. july? august? i dont quite remember but it was during that very summer!! and my bestie coworkers bought this for me as a gift!!

its part of a inside joke bc when i was first hired, i would draw amonguses on all of our storage boxes in the back for funsies and write sweet notes to next people on shift dbdjfj.. i still remember the amongus rainbow we drew!!! omgg!! basically i drew an amongus on a blank order sticker and stuck it to the back of our front register self and colored it red i think? and over the next few days, my coworkers added their own amonguses and colored them to make a rainbow!! it was so so sweet and cute and made me fall in love with my job even more!!

next we have.. Samhain!!! hes from when my coworkers took me out shopping at a local mall during halloween season! i saw him and immediately wanted to get him becos i love love love Trick R Treat and i love sammy. hes an animal technically. a creature. hes my sweet and i love him more than anything!!!!! <- ki dropped him into a puddle when ki took him with kiss during halloween trick or treating

pikachu!!! this is from i think high school actually! maybe from a hot topic trip? as you can see her ears have flopped over and lost their stuffing and her arms are on the way.. hut its ok i still love her <3 also doubles as a backpack

and finally!!! my oldest surviving stuffed animal, from my childhood, huge hello kitty plush!!!! she actually used to have a long black sharpie marker line going down her face on her left eye i think? my mom bleached and scrubbed it off her last year so shes super cute and comfy and happy now ^_^ shes also firm so sometimes i use her as a back rest whenever im sitting on my bed

- uses xe/xir pronouns, but begrudgingly uses they/them while at work - can't stand just doing nothing and has to be moving. due to this ABSOLUTELY hates slow days. once refilled toppings at least 3 times and overfilled by accident. - stims by drumming xir hands on things or arm flapping - captain oblivious my beloved. literally has no idea about anyones feelings until after the fact - likes to wear oversized jackets! while jack's is warm, xe prefers xir own (personal favorite is xir blue jersey with the stars on it) - yes, xe named xemself after the loomas from super mario galaxy.

- is very Particular about xir house. if anything remotely looks out of place or is nudged it sends off red alarms. - has an unhealthy collection of mini backpacks stored in the back of xir closet. no ones knows about it and xe would like to keep it that way - what does mj stand for? your guess is about as good as mine, xe changes xir answer anytime anyone asks. - local theivery of jackets hoodies and similar abound. usually if alan takes his jacket off there's a high chance mj will swipe it instead of getting up to get a blanket - isn't a huge fan of the slasher genre when it comes to horror, but if you want found footage or cult classics mj's your bestie - i've mentioned this before but doesn't like putting people's names or anything in xir phone. usually defaults to nicknames or just emojis - big fan of swishy skirts!! bonus points if there's pockets - unfortunate forgetful tbh!! memory is shit so often takes notes or pictures as reminders - has gone trick or treating the last 5 years as sam from trick r treat and due to xir height, always passes as a teenager at least. the candy scam continues. - chewerly hoarder!! has a bunch of necklaces but prefers the bracelets

Currently Reading: just finished The Haunting of Hill House (audio- I listen while I GIF), and I'll say it: the show was/is a MASSIVE improvement; please watch it if you haven't already (the show's fundamentally different/the book was written in 1959, but I stand by it).

Last Series: that I watched- Peach of Time; that I finished- En of Love: TOSSARA (it was pretty damn cute). Also Schitt's Creek, which I finally finished yesterday after avoiding the finale for weeks, not wanting it to end.

Mike Dougherty Teases TRICK 'R TREAT 2 in an Interview with Mick Garris

Michael Dougherty, creator of the beloved Halloween anthology, Trick ’r Treat, has been teasing a sequel since 2013. Although the original film was not a hit upon initial release, it went on to become a home video favorite and a Halloween, film-marathon staple. This has allowed it to develop a huge cult following and fans are eager to see a sequel, as soon as possible.

The first Trick R’ Treat was shelved for many years. When movie houses first showed interest in the film, they wanted the film to be a true anthology in that they wanted to have one director per segment. Horror legends George Romero (Night of the Living Dead), John Carpenter (Halloween), Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Sam Winston (Jurassic Park), himself, were all attached to the project, at first.

In a recent episode of Post Mortem with Mick Garris, Dougherty revealed this about Trick ’r Treat:

The character of Sam, which is the sort of demonic trick or treater which wanders around between the different stories – he started off as an animated character that I did for a short film at NYU. So, he was essentially my senior thesis film. One of the first people that I sent the film to was Stan Winston because I was just a massive fan of his. Who wasn’t? Surprisingly, he wrote back, or he reached out and said, ‘Saw the short, loved it, if you’re ever in L.A., let me know, and I’d love to sit down and hear about what you want to do.’

  He continues,

And so I booked a flight to Los Angeles. I took him up on the invitation; I wasn’t going to let him squeeze out of it and sat down. And he said, ‘Listen, you need to be making movies!’ Because I was an animator at Nickelodeon at the time, he’s like, ‘Have you written a spec script, yet?’ And I said, ‘No, I haven’t done that.’ He goes, ‘Well, you should do that…’ Stan was the first one to read it and say, ‘There’s really something here! I’d love to produce this.’ And so, he assembled George Romero, himself, John Carpenter, and Tobe. What a lineup, right? Took it out there; nobody wanted to touch it. I mean, I remember the notes we got back from some of the studios and one that stuck out for me was, ‘This movie has vampires and werewolves, which are too old fashioned. Nobody wants to see vampires and werewolves.’ I was mildly offended by that, you know, because I was like, Well, I want to see vampires and werewolves!

In the same interview, Dougherty couldn’t offer much information about the release of Trick ’r Treat 2.

My hope is that once Godzilla has been put to rest, then I can dive back into it…I would love to make it my next project, but we’ll see.

It’s safe to say with Halloween only days away, we’ve all had Trick ‘r Treat on the brain. Fingers crossed that Dougherty is able to push a few more tales across Sam’s path soon. And with that, we will continue to wait anxiously for any news related to the follow-up to Trick ’r Treat!
