who's the samaritan woman? (asked genuinely, i never went to church)
Basically Jesus was with some of this apostles walking through a Samaritan city, so Jesus and co. are the outsiders.
There’s a woman at a well and Jesus speaks to her. She says she has had five husbands and that the man she is with now she isn’t married to.
Jesus said that none of that matters to him since he is the living water that she’s really looking for.

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman
8 (For his disciples were gone away to the city to buy meat.) 9 Then said the woman of Samaria to him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that said to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water. 11 The woman said to him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from where then have you that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw. 16 Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband, and come here.

If You Knew the Gift of God
JESUS COMES TO a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well is there. Wearied as he was from His journey, Jesus is sitting beside the well when a woman from Samaria comes to draw water. Jesus says to her, “Give me a drink” (John 4:5-7). Why would Jesus ask a complete stranger to serve him? Have we not been taught that the Son of Man came not…

HER STORY: Leaders in the Cause of Christ, The Woman at the Well
The story of the woman at the well comes right after Jesus made a blockbuster statement to the Pharisee and Sanhedrin member Nicodemus: God loves not just Pharisees, not even just Judeans, but the whole world.
#WomanattheWell #SamaritanWoman
The story of the woman at the well comes right after Jesus made a blockbuster statement to the Pharisee and Sanhedrin member Nicodemus: God loves not just Pharisees, not even just Judeans, but the whole world. And, to illustrate this very point, Jesus made his way to some of the most despised people in the region, the Samaritans.
Now, as Jesus and his disciples arrived at Jacob’s famous well,…

Being Christian-ish
I’ve never watched the show, but I understand “Black-ish” has to do with children who are not fully one race or another and they have cultural issues about their identity.
The name of that show made me wonder if we may be “Christian-ish” — not fully all in as Christians and so we have issues about our identity. Some days we are ALL IN as devoted followers of Christ and other days we are weak,…

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman, by He Qi
So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

Wells and Wives
Post live! Exploration of Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well.
The narrative of John 4:1-42 doesn’t come to us in isolation, it’s part of a story — part of John’s story, and part of God’s great story of the Bible. John keeps pointing us back to earlier parts of that story so that we can better understand Jesus. Jesus fulfills the story, but not in the way that people expect him to. Let’s consider this particular narrative as a continuation of Old Testament…
