Constanstine starts acting sober on important missions/meetings for the JLD; he has a sanity-potion dealer

Zatanna reports this odd behavior to Batman, they interrogate him when his veins are swamped with alcohol.

C: … I-I know what yer doin’ [hiccups]

Z: We care for your well-being. You have bouts of sobriety that you seem to have control over.

B: Are you on something new?

C: M’yeah… is called a pwoz—piss—poise! Poise potion, yeah das it!

B: And who makes this “Poise” potion?

C: My dealah, my busniz. G’way! [stumbles out the door]

Z: … That went as well as expected.

Sober Constantine is actually more reasonable. Batman catches him after a meeting.

B: [observes his brushed hair and very high-quality, new trench coat] You’re sober… Congratulations?

C: Uhuh. Did you need something? I have some business elsewhere.

B: With your dealer?

C: [affronted] Wha—Who in their right bloody mind would dare call Celest that?

B: You did.

C: ….

B: Who’s Celest?

C: Oh, fuck me!

Constantine gives him an address - it’s in Milan, Lombardy (Region of Italy). He specifically instructs him to come as a civ along with Red Hood and Robin with the threat that he will erase their memories if they so much as go into detective mode.

Bruce Wayne and his two wayward children enters the teahouse and is led by the hostess to a private room. They are served with tea and light snacks that they know even Alfred would more than approve of.

A door opens - they didn’t even know it was one with the way the molding blends into each other seamlessly. And out came one of the most enchanting woman Bruce has ever seen. He’s seen his fair share of attractive females but he has never been star-struck like he should be - as if he were back to his pre-pubescent days.

M: Constantine said you’d be here.

B: [realizes that this person was Constantine’s dealer and was 100% magic] You’re his dealer?

*Jason and Damian who saw the look on their dad’s face snicker at his opening line*

M: [raises and elegant eyebrow at Bruce] And you must be his work associates?

J: Something like that, lady. I’m Jason, kid’s Damian, and the one who can’t stop staring at you is our Dad, Bruce.

*Bruce grumbles and Marinette smirks*

M: I’m Marinette. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

D: [gestures at Bruce] Pleasure is all his, Marinette.

B: [red at the ears] Their Grandfather thought them better, I swear.

M: Mhmm. I guess he didn’t teach them how to not die then?

The guys: ….

Jason gets a more potent version of the potion Constantine consumes - it’s a prescription that he has to come for every month. Damian gets a charm; ear cuffs because he does whatever her wants, a spontaneous orbital piercing is nothing. And Bruce gets Mari’s number.

(Tim also gets forwarded in his fave fashion label’s waitlist from the near thousands to the fourteenth - his first consultation coincides with Jason’s next appointment.)

AN: Some posts/fics call Mari Celestial Guardian. Idk where and when that happened - I have abandoned canon a long time ago. These are all pulled from my days in the maribat blackhole (still kinda stuck there). I basically pulled this out of my archives so they at least get the chance to see the daylight.

Addressing Brucinette: I have a whole re-written MLB plot in my archives where everything is more brutal and the miraculous aren’t actual pieces of accessories. Like there’s an initiation to the order and stuff like that. I normally don’t enjoy aging up characters in crossovers but Brucinette just works. I have a secretary AU somewhere (it’s tragic and I’m considering scrapping it if I find it). And I also have deep-rooted issues that wants me to write Good!Dad Bruce who has Mari breathing down his neck when he so much as raises his voice at his children (Muminette/Mominette is another breed scary). And those tropes where Mari sees right through Brucie? Has a second sense for the when the batkids are in/causes trouble? Love those. I WILL FIGHT FOR THIS SHIP. (Jk people are free to dislike this. I get it.)

Maribat Ships and My Vibe Explanations

These are based on the most popular tropes and scenarios I've seen particularly for a specific ship, but some are my own vision:) Moodboards I made for each ship, which are partially inspired by the below thoughts, are linked in the ship name.

Brucinette:

Boss x Secretary trope or Socialite meets Other Socialite and Both Discover each other is Less Shallow than they Thought

Alternatively,

Hero x Villain Love story.

Look, we all know Bruce has a bad track record with his Rogues and also Love in general

Black Cat Mari is the most popular, probably, but I think we should see more Villain/ Morally Grey Mari with other Miraculi

Not my favourite ship but it can be fun

Particularly when we add Dad Bruce and Mari gets to adopt the Batkids and be a Cool MomTM.

Dickinette:

Often a Villain x Hero romance, usually Black Cat Marinette and Nightwing.

A good trope to be sure, but I think we should spice it up more.

Vampire Dick Truthers (you know who you are) have a point with their Vampire Dick and Mari fics. Why not make Dick the villain in Mari's Rogue Gallery???

Overall a great trope, especially if you really delve into their characters: both are 'sunshine' characters who fight everyday to be the nice, kind heroes everyone thinks they are and expects them to be, even though it's the hardest route to take.

Jasonette:

(I'm biased as it's my #1 Maribat ship, but I'll try not to go on too long >.<)

Villain x Hero? Hero x Hero? Amazing, outstanding. What about Villain x Villain? I myself would love to see more Rogue Jason and Rogue Mari fics.

Any AU is amazing. I admit to having a fondness for Mob Boss Jason, partly because he is one in canon, at least for a while, and because I'm addicted to dark/mafia romance novels. Lieutenant Mari? Yes, please. Rival Mob Boss Mari? Heck yeah! Bat-affiliate Mari? Gimme. Please.

The amount of character exploration you could do if you wrote a romance where they actually stayed together, looking at you, DC is intriguing. Would Jason change for someone he loved? Would he give up crime lording? Would Mari accept him anyways but then they'd have to deal with one half running from the law/vigilantes and the other half being on the vigilantes' side?

Also, soft Jason. Nerding out over books and music and fashion and appreciating the fine things in life and meeting this cute fashion designer with a penchant to listen to Jagged Stone-

So many AU opportunities!! Bakery AU! Mafia AU! Coffee Shop AU! Meetcute at the Museum AU!...

Okay I'll move on now:(

It's just a simple misunderstanding, as all large rifts start off with.

There's a translation issue or an eavesdropping that is taken out of context

(they're both idiots your honour)

But then something happens and they have to work together or they're made to talk and they realize it's all just a misunderstanding

And then they're like... " while we're clearing the air...so uh, I kinda have a crush on you'

"no way, me too!!"

And Mari meets Lian (or maybe that's what starts this, Jason and Mari are hanging out babysitting Lian and Roy comes to pick Lian up and they start talking and and and-)

And Mari loves Lian immediately of course, who wouldn't?

And so Roy likes her more because she likes Lian so automatically she's not as bad as he thought, and Lian really likes her too

And then they fall in love and Jason and Lian are the master matchmakers behind the scenes

You can pry OTP Jason & Lian setting up Roynette out of my cold dead hands

Konette:

I haven't seen or read a ton of Konette, but they usually meet at the Titans

Friends to Lovers 100%

They're both quiet and new and feeling out the dynamics

so they're often pushed together on purpose or by accident because the others are just so loud and chaotic

And then they become BFFs and are less inclined to join the others' chaos and so spend more time together, and so the cycle continues

And then one day something happens

Kon is Kryptonian and Mari had the Miraculous, they're usually the least-damaged members, but something happens, there's Kryptonite or magic or Something and one or both gets hurt.

The other jumps in front of them to take the blow because they can't let the other get hurt

"Why did you do that?!"

"I couldn't let you get hurt. You need to save our teammates."

Then the hurt one faints or passes out and the other confesses and thinks they can't hear them

They get back to the Tower safely and get treated and wake up and then they see the other

"Did you say you loved me, when I was passed out?"

"You heard that? Uh...yeah, I love you."

"I love you too!"

I haven't read much of any of the other ships to get a good feel on them, so I'm stopping here:)

I can't not make a Clone High au

Marinette: Clone of a peasant turned royal tailor from ancient China who created fabulous garments for royalty and received praise for her work until her untimely demise when the jealous wife of the emperor poisoned her food

Adrien: Clone of a former beloved Parisian mayor from the 70s who won the hearts of all with his charisma, good looks, and natural charm… Then he got assassinated after he signed a bill to allow gay couples to adopt

Nino: Clone of a famous Moroccan director who gained recognition from his first short film which he shot in his home town. He made a name for himself, traveled, and won many awards, but then died in the 70s after someone drugged him… Because it was the 70s

Alya: Clone of a young runaway slave from Martinique in the late 1790s. She taught herself to read and wrote several books detailing the effects of Code Noir on her home. She was soon found and killed just five years before slavery was abolished. Her books were published decades later and shed some light on Martinique’s struggle

Nathaniel: Clone of a Jewish man from the 1930s who escaped the concentration camp when he was twenty and went into hiding, boarded a ship, and made it to America. He made his living as an artist, and was free to express his religion and tell his story when the war ended up until he turned 68, and died of a heart attack

Alix: Clone of a pro skater. Being female and Arab made her the target of a few choice words from competitors and spectators, but she rubbed her wins in their faces until her tragic “accident” at one event in 1978. Some jackass tampered with her wheels, and Alix landed in a horrible way. Fortunately, the asshole was arrested

Kim: Clone of a champion Olympic swimmer from the 50s. He took home gold twice and was ready to win his third gold medal. Right as he got in the water, shots rang out. A bullet hit his leg, and he sank to the bottom of the pool. (A jealous competitor resorted to drastic measures)

Max: Clone of a teenage genius from the early 70s. People thought he’d change the world with his brilliant mind. He even won a Nobel prize. The world probably would have been improved had it not been for the tragic lab fire

Juleka: Clone of a Romanian noble from the 1600s accused of kidnapping and draining young women of their blood to retain her youth. One night, the villagers stormed her manor and set fire to everything, even going so far as to lock her inside

Rose: Clone of a celebrated singer from the early 50s known for her pink rockabilly style. She died in her sleep when she was 83, and by that time, she had written over sixty songs

Ivan: Clone of a famed poet/song writer. He lived a pretty peaceful life, never got in any fights, attended protests organized by marginalized groups, and even wrote a book. He died peacefully in his sleep when he was 100

Mylène: Clone of an well known actress/activist who was protesting companies dumping lead into urban neighborhoods. Her words got their attention, but instead of being decent human beings, they poisoned her as a threat, but ended up killing her in 1978. To this day, those ass-bitches got away with it

Sabrina: Clone of a secretary from the 50s who had just about enough of her male colleagues treating her like less than the gum on the bottom of their shoes. She got up in the dead of night to paint their cars pink, filled their cars with women’s undergarments, and spiked their coffee with vodka. The cop was gonna let her off easy, but she demanded to be arrested… She shouldn’t have said that, because on their way to the prison, the cop car got t-boned bad

Chloé: Clone of a young aristocratic woman who was accused of killing her parents in cold blood in the 1800s. While she was acquitted of the charges, people still believed her to be a murderer, and she lived with that title all the way to her death

Lila: Clone of a scorned Italian woman from the late 1800s who sold out her village to a mob boss to live a life of luxury… And she did for about five weeks before one man from her village sought revenge for what the mob did to his family and shot many, including her

Marc: Clone of a French writer and playwright from the 1800s whose stories mainly consisted of queer protagonists… Then he got arrested because being gay gets you in trouble in Europe during those times. He lived to be 102, and made out with so many guys in secret

Denise: Clone of a young enby from the 1960s who was part of Operation Pedro Pan to help Cuban youths escape from Castro’s regime when they were seventeen. They made it to America, faced some bigots, wrote two books detailing their life from Cuba to America, and advocated for the rights of Cuban citizens until they got sick and died in 1999

Simon: Clone of an Irish Catholic from the 1600s who hid with his family during Oliver Cromwell’s invasion and attack on the Catholics. They were going to escape together as a family, but his asshole parents left him to be killed at the hands of Cromwell himself. Prior to that, he wrote in a journal explaining the unfair treatment toward the Irish in great detail and it was soon published upon discovery

Ismael: Clone of a famed escape artist from the early 1900s. He performed all sorts of death-defying tricks until he performed one he didn’t survive- The escape from the water-filled tank trip… He forgot to hide the key on his person

Reshma: Clone of an Indian-American woman who lived a well off and made a name for herself as a fashion mogul. She used her influence to speak out against injustice against queer people and bring attention to current events in India. She died in her sleep when she was 70 in 1992

Jean: Clone of a beloved actor from the 1800s, most known for his “satirical” roles as women when really, he just likes wearing dresses, but they don’t gotta know that. However, someone found him making out with another man and killed him in his dressing room

Lacey: Clone of a famed spelunker. She has several museum wings named after her due to her discoveries, and became moderately wealthy. She continued exploring caves until her 50s when she slipped and fell into a crevice in 1978. The only thing that remained of her was a video camera with her final words

Aurore: Clone of an investigative journalist from the early 1900s reporting the abuse of conversion therapy victims. She was set to publish her story and expose the people behind the practice until she was photographed kissing a woman and dragged to a facility. Fortunately, one of her most trusted associates published her story and she was freed due to public backlash and threats against the facility. She died when she was 79

Mireille: Clone of a boxer from the 1920s who won many competitions, stole the hearts of a few women, and was on her way to greatness until a party got just a little too crazy, and she “fell” of the balcony after an encounter with an ex

Cosette: Clone of a Civil Rights activist from the 1950s who has been arrested several times for protesting. They publicly spoke out against the blatant racism in the country, and because of this, they were a person of interest for the government. She would’ve exposed the cameras and microphones she found in her home, but got into an “accident”

Zoé: Clone of a New York heiress from the early 1900s who ran off to join a rebel group that provided resources for the poor… By stealing from the rich. She hasn’t been caught once and eventually eloped with a woman five years before her death in 1997

Clone High is in Paris, secretly being run as an elaborate military experiment orchestrated by a government office called the Secret Board of Shadowy Figures

In 2003, the school is entirely populated by the clones of famous historical figures that were created and raised with the intent of having their various strengths and abilities harnessed by the military for a project called, Operation: Mighty Eagle. And one day, they will have them take over the world

One night, during a dance where everyone was in attendance, the teachers flash froze the clones to keep them out of the board’s evil hands, and the board eventually forgot about them

In secret, but they made new clones in 2007, and raised them during the twenty years that they were frozen, making the clones all roughly the same age after the Gen1 clones were unfrozen to resume Operation: Mighty Eagle

Due to being frozen for twenty years, the G1 clones are so far behind, have missed many important events, and have to learn what they can’t say that was okay in the 90s, but wrong to say now

Chloé is very put off when she realizes she’s no longer popular by today’s standards and instead, Nathaniel, Max, and Juleka are

Mme. Bustier: So, how’d the kids take it when you told them they’ve been frozen for twenty years?

Mme. Mendeleiv: Oh, I think they handled it very well.

*Earlier*

Mme. Mendeleiv: For anyone who thinks it is 2003… You are wrong!

Clone Kids: … *Freaking out*

Nino: *Holding up a cellphone* WHAT IS THIS?! *Points to a laptop* WHAT IS THAT?! *Points to Kim’s sneakers* WHAT ARE THOOOOOSE?!

Miraculous and (maybe) BSD BEAST Spoilers

Idk what to actually name this, it’s just me ranting while comparing BSD Beast to Shadybug and Claw Noir 😅

So the other day I saw a video on tiktok where someone was complaining about the fact that the new miraculous world special is supposed to have a “reverse world” situation with are main characters and yet Chloe is still a bully in both. For a little context; in the special we learn that Shadybug/Other world Marinette became depressed due to Chloe’s constant bullying of Marinette and Mari didn’t have a close friend group to support her through it.

Now I can see where this person is coming from when you think of this other world strictly as a reverse world; Gabriel is good in this world while Mari and Adrien are bad. But when you think about the few characters we are introduced to/learn about in this world, I feel like it’s closer to the concept of the Bungo Stray Dogs BEAST light novel/manga spinoff.

For those who don’t know about BSD or this spinoff/AU; BEAST is a light novel turned manga series where a select few characters from BSD have switched places. Our protagonist Atsushi is a member of the port mafia and is an antagonist for most of the novel. Dazai is still in the mafia and becomes their boss rather than leaving and joining the Armed Detective Agency. Akutagawa, Atsushi’s mafia rival in the main series, is instead a member of the ADA alongside Odasaku.

Other then these characters, most of the minor characters stay relatively the same as their main universe counterparts with a few exceptions. Kyouka is still with the mafia and works alongside Atsushi (her job is mostly the same just with a slightly different backstory and design). Gin, Akutagawa’s sister, is still with the mafia but works as a secretary and has a strained relationship with her brother (again she also has an altered design). But other than that, Chuuya’s position is the same (Mafia executive, loyal to Dazai, etc), and most of the ADA members are the same other than tweaked designs or minor personality changes.

Now my character comparisons are far from 1:1 BUT for the sake of the argument this is how I’m separating the characters:

Akutagawa is Gabriel/Hawkmoth/Hesperia

Atsushi is Shadybug/Ladybug

Chuuya is Chloe

The ADA members are Alya and Nino

Note: I didn’t add Chat Noir/Claw Noir because I’m talking specifically about Chloe’s role in comparison to Chuuya’s role in their respective worlds. Claw/Chat is not affected by Chloe in EXACTLY the same way as Shady/Lady (claw noir as a completely different “villain origin story”, chat/Adrien is not as heavily bullied by Chloe)

In this argument think of the characters above as being in the same place:

In the main stories/universe

Akutagawa/Gabriel are seen as “villains” or antagonists to our main characters for the most part.

Atsushi/LB are considered our “hero’s” or protagonist for the majority of the series.

The ADA/Nino and Alya are secondary characters who aid/help/support our protagonist in some way.

Chuuya and Chloe are secondary characters that typically cause some sort of conflict in one way or another to the protagonist and their allies.

In the alternate universe (BEAST/SB&CN)

Akutagawa/Gabriel have switched and taken on the “hero” or protagonist role

Atsushi/Shadybug have switched and taken over the “villain” or antagonist role

The ADA/Alya and Nino, while having changes in character designs, are still seen aiding our protagonist as allies (the ADA to Aku, Alya & Nino to Gabriel)

Chuuya/Chloe retain their roles as secondary antagonists is some aspect; Chuuya is still an executive of the port mafia and is loyal to Dazai (the leader of the mafia who also controls Atsushi). Chloe is still her bully self (as far as we know) who has pushed Shadybug/Marinette to become a villain

Pretty much what I’m getting at is that, when put in comparison to a series like BEAST, the SB & CN universe IS NOT a direct reverse world when you really look at it. It’s more of an “our main characters are reversed while the secondary characters are the same give or take”. I can see why people are confused or maybe frustrated given that it seems the alternate world in the special was framed as a reverse world, but when you look at what we’re given it really isn’t.

Like I said, Shadybug’s universe seems to align more closely to the BEAST universe where only certain characters are reversed. Of course we don’t have much to go one, but this is how I think about it from the tidbits we are given in the special. I mean at the end of both series, Shadybug and BEAST!Atsushi are no longer seen as villains. BEAST!Astushi is freed from the port mafia and Dazai’s control, instead taking up residence with BEAST!Mori at the orphanage. Shadybug is given a new sense of hope by Ladybug leading to the start of Shady’s redemption. So it truly isn’t a total reverse world AU in my opinion.

This is getting kind of long and Idk how else to frame my thoughts so imma leave it here. Sorry if it’s kinda ranty and I hope it makes sense. I can try to clarify stuff if anyone has questions, but it’s been a hot minute since I’ve read the BEAST light novel so hopefully I’m not too off.

Second part sketch of Miraculous: Inversed Personas (Opposite AU).

List of Opposite characters:

Bob Roth, music producer. Married to Anarka.

Anarka Couffaine-Roth, Bob's "wife". She has issues with her husband (Not good relationship).

Xavier-Yves Roth (X.Y.), essayist. He abandoned his musician's career for becoming novelist/writer. He rejects his father.

Jagged Stone, classic music player/pianist (instead of rock'n'roll). He's afraid of alligators.

Alim Kubdel, director of the Musée du Louvre.

Tom & Sabine, bakers and Marinette's parents. They died in the arson of the Bakery when (Opposite) Marinette was 10-11.

Rolland Dupain, Marinette's grandfather. He's in good terms with young people ans kids.

André Bourgeois Anaximandre (spoiler from season 5), film director. He has never run for the mayoral election. He's hypocrite and arrogant (He fires Thomas You-Know-Who from the staff).

Clara Nightingale, pop singer. She's arrogant and annoying (similar persona to Canon Chloé).

Harry Clown, comedian and actor. He's known for playing dramatical movies, dramas and B-movies (like Captain Frite).

Wayhem, casual boy. He doesn't like celebrities (especially Adrien). He's an activist on Justice, Human rights and Climate. He's humanitarian.

Domino Brothers, Colt's twin bodyguards (based on bodyguards from Ladybug PV)

Soulmate AU but you enter a office/agency, pick a number and randomly get assigned a person.

Marinette stared quizzically at the slip of paper in her hand, awkwardly peeking over the rim of the employee's computer of the soulmate agency that seemed to be the latest trend.

A desperate cry for finding true love or at least Marinette hoped finding a good guy.

She gestured towards the system flashing numbers in quick succession. "Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a soulmate?"

The secretary sighed deeply and pushed a strand of hair behind his ear. "Miss Dupain-Cheng, you're not the first nor last to ask me this today."

"I'm sorry! I just don't see how me getting this number will help me find my soulmate." Marinette crossed her arms, staring up at the screen where different numbers flashed on the display.

The secretary smiled and cleared his throat. "You'll get assigned a person according to the questionnaire you filled out beforehand. You'll get asked additional questions based on the hobbies you listed, your interests and preferences for your soulmate. You'll receive a list of potential matches and set up appointments with them."

'Appointments? Am I at the doctor's?' Marinette politely thanked the secretary and waited patiently for her number to flash brightly on the screen. It reminded her of numbers flashing for a lottery ticket.

Then, Marinette's number flashed big and bright on the display.

With hurried steps, she rushed down the flight of stairs and knocked on a blue door, hearing a soft 'come in!' from inside.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng I presume?"

"Y-Yes!" Marinette quickly took a seat in front of the kind elderly man.

"I have the questionnaire you filled out right here. You're looking for a male soulmate, correct?"

Marinette's fingers flexed nervously on her lap, playing with the hem of her jacket. "Yes."

Grey eyebrows lifted up curiously. "Do you like them handsome?"

Marinette blinked owishly. "E-Excuse me?"

The man chuckled. "The male soulmate you're looking for."

"O-oh! Um, I don't need to be super handsome, I mean, it's more important to me what their personability- I-I mean personality is like."

The man hummed thoughtfully and typed on his computer. "Mhm..." he paused. "Any preferences for hair or eye color?"

Marinette blushed to the roots of her hair. "Um...not particularly but maybe blond? Or um, any hair color really. Something creative? Eye color doesnt matter to me."

The man typed. "Blond or dyed hair..."

"Sign here please, Miss Dupain-Cheng."

Marinette stared at the document the elderly man pushed towards her. "Uh, what is this?"

"This is a form you have to sign in order to be able to participate in the soulmate matches and get signed into our system. If you wish to have more time to read through it you may take it home and return it tomorrow."

"I think I'll take the time and read through it carefully, I don't do these kinds of things every day. Thank you so much for your help, mister...?"

The man swirled around in his chair, a mysterious grin on his face, chestnut brown eyes seeming to stare right through Marinette's very soul. "Wang Fu."

just hear me out. adrinette office au. hear me out. it’s a classic romcom scenario: adrien is the boss, marinette is the upcoming designer-turned-secretary-for-money trying to get her foot in the fashion world. as marinette works for adrien she begins to fall for him but obviously he’s her boss and she cannot allow herself to go for it. adrien ALSO begins to fall for her and recognizes her talent and drive but doesn’t want to go for it because he’s her boss etc etc. the “darling im a mess” line comes when he finally confesses (when she has a secured a job and is leaving his company) and is immediately followed by “because im in love with you”

Marinette: *bursts into the abandoned warehouse with a menacing look on her face* *Harley behind her cackling madly at the event that is about to happen* may I borrow your mallet for a moment?

Harley: sure thing suga' ! *gives her the mallet* imma just sit back and watch, kay??

Marinette: much obliged. *turns to Joker* listen here punk. You do not mess with my employer's kids. *dark almost Batman-like voice*

Joker: *laughs mockingly* Yeah, and who are you supposed to be? A shining knight?!

Marinette: *jumps and starts to whack the goons* *effortlessly evading the bullets* *finally gets to the Joker and wacks him brutally*

Joker: *chokes on his blood* what are you?

Marinette: I'm just a secretary. *pummels the Joker rendering him unconscious* *after that she immediately frees her boys and mother hens them*

After getting her to swear to not tell what she was about to say to Sabrina, Marinette revealed that she knew about this group of people that seemed to have found reason to love her.

She didn't expect her frantic speech that would spiral into self-loathing to be interrupted by Sabrina pulling out a notebook, clearing her throat, and reciting the minutes from the last meeting they had.

I just remembered I had this draft!

❔- Choose a random WIP and talk about it.

It turns out that most of my favorite ML AUs right now are some kind of elaborate crossover. So: Here's hoping you know at least the basic gist of Frances Hodgson Burnett's Secret Garden, because the other ones are Locked Tomb and BBC Merlin respectively, and thus even more involved.

Please imagine the following: Chloé Bourgeois in the role of Mary Lennox.

Or don't, really, because you don't need to imagine anything to get there. Bad-tempered spoiled brat whose mother preferred going to parties over actually seeing her daughter... yeah.

Now imagine: Adrien Agreste in the role of Colin Craven.

By rights it should be Felix (guy who is a bit of a dick because he is told he's different than everyone else), but I'm too fond of Adrien to replace him. Besides, Secret Garden is baby's first gothic, and Adrien is so living in a gothic mystery. He just doesn't know it. (There is a monster in his house. There are secret passages. His mother's dead body is haunting these halls just as much as her memory is)

He never got to go to school, here, and is given even fewer freedoms than in canon. Chloé doesn't know him. Neither does the public; only through rumors and whispers. He acts out a bit, much like Felix in his titular episode. He knows he's a Sentimonster, and has been told all his life that that means he isn't fully human. Every difficulty he has feels like proof to him - though really, he's just never learned how to talk to people his own age.

Finally: Marinette as Dickon. For [reason], Master Fu had to renounce his Guardianship before finding an apprentice to pass it on to. Instead he released all the Kwamis into Paris, where for the most part, they're in hiding. Where possible, they've taken the form of the animals they represent: Just a fox, digging through the trash. Just a cat, slinking around corners.

(Some have chosen shapes that are at least similar to the ones they know. Tikki spends considerable time as a robin, where at least she's large enough not to be squished by a carelessly dropped textbook.)

Some have found people they're more interested in; whom they might allow to become their holders in the right circumstance. But they've all (slowly, slowly) been drawn to Marinettte.

Chloé's father is arrested for corruption just as the Hawkmoth attacks begin. Her mother informs everyone who's willing to listen that she's not going to come to Paris just to take care of unexceptional Claudette... Eh, Gabriel Agreste lives in Paris, right? He owes her. Send her there.

Chloé moves to the Agreste Mansion, and she hates everthying about it. She hates everything in it. Gabriel Agreste who refuses to talk to her, the bodyguard who doesn't talk to anyone; that secretary who just tells her not to stray in the house.

Who insists that the noises she hears when it's otherwise silent (and that house is always so, so silent) are nothing but the streets outside.

The only person Chloé doesn't feel like hating is Ladybug.

She spends her days reading the Ladyblog (A real heroine! in Paris! The Ladyblogger might be annoying, but at least it's something to do all day) and aimlessly strolling through the garden. There's a cat she gets to see sometimes... there's bees. Some birds. The silent bodyguard seems to like them.

She's sitting very, very still, letting a bee land on her nose, when one day she looks up and finds Ladybug sitting on the garden wall.

(She's sick and tired of the silence and the noises when she gets up at night and finds that she isn't the only child in the house.)

(It's much, much later that they all discover the secret garden in the basement.)
