OK SO ON A DISCORD SERVER I'M ON WE TALKED A LOT ABOUT BIBLE STUFF IN THE PILOT, ima share my thoughts

Let's start with the obvious stuff:

Caine seems to be a reference to Cain, one of the first humans, who kills his brother because of jealousy that god likes him more. Our caine is very not violent, and i have some thoughts but not sharing them yet.XD

We see a C&A logo, so everyone is assumimg that's Caine and Abel.

The last scene looks like the Last Supper by Leonardo de Vinci. Pomni is sitting in Jesus's spot, so we can assume pomni will parallel jesus.

Now, the good stuff...

Goose said that Jax will be the morally worst character, and he'll do something very unlikeable in later episodes. You know who does something bad to jesus? (Jesus like pomni)

JUDAS. In the bible, Judas betrays Jesus. That would really suit Jax, and here's a scenario I came up with:

Jax will somehow cause Pomni to be abstracted (jesus died bc of judas), maybe because he thought that would let him escape. Everyone will hate jax lol

Pomni goes to the cellar (jesus's tomb) as her abstracted form. SOMEHOW, she gets unabstracted (resurrection).

Someone said ragatha could be Mary magdalene (prostitute that jesus stopped from being stoned to death, later she was the first one to see resurrected jesus). Pomni already kind of (albeit badly and not really) saved ragatha from abstracted Kaufmo. Later, ragatha could be the one to find unabstracted pomni.

My bible knowledge is a bit shabby, so not guaranteeing accuracy XD most of these ideas come from other people!

Also related question, does Jesus exist in the College AU (as in, a hellaverse version in the fic's time period with all the other characters, not as an implied historical/religious figure)? I think it would be funny if he was in Adam's band with Judas and they just hate each other lol (how Adam's band manages to survive with this much hate among the band mates only God knows).

The Warmth of Family

So after making The Blooming of a New Life pic https://www.deviantart.com/nk11/art/The-Blooming-of-a-New-Life-949176151 and talking with TotallyNotLissy about the OT3 having kids and Ryo/Satan even allowing himself to become a parent again, I couldn't help but think about what kind of kids they would have and thus this picture was born! This might be a possible future for Akira/Miki/Ryo in my fic but I'll have to see when I get to the end, those kids have a lot of hurdles to overcome before kids could even be thought of! XD

But for now this would be a part of a happier AU where humans and demons live together in peace and the OT3 live in the countryside with their babies and the children Ryo/Satan had with Zennon (Another AU where get to have normal childhoods woooo) cause they can't be around normal human children until they can control their demon urges. Miki and Ryo got pregnant at roughly the same time by Akira and thus their toddlers are sort of twins when it comes to time frame. XD Akira and Miki's baby is a half demon girl, Mari, who despite how cute she looks is also quite rebellious(dressing her is a nightmare XD) and when she learns how to talk is horribly blunt and honest with others, and in addition to her demon urges would get her into trouble at times, however she is a very loyal to her family and friends. Akira and Ryo's baby is based on how the Devilman CLAMP Doujinshi baby https://64.media.tumblr.com/68441d51483e49a690e177ff988bab03/tumblr_nolz9yujZ41qdyqv9o1_500.jpg I do not know if they had a name or not XD but anyway this half demon half angel boy(he is intersex like his mother Ryo/Satan), Kenji, is the softer of the 'twins' but he does have a sneaky rebellious side to him (always stealing things he can get his little hands on) and his emotions due to his demon and angelic nature do run hot and cold and sometimes his heightened empathy can be too much for him to handle if he experiences the emotions of strangers too deeply, but he'll grow into a very good listener and is also a very loyal friend who always wants to help like his sister but he would also need to spend more time alone to recharge his social energy. The third baby who Miki is currently carrying is hers and Ryo's baby and I haven't given much thought on them aside that they'll likely be non binary and a little rebel in a lot of ways XD (Judas would get on with them the most out of their step siblings! XD) 

Well that's all I can think of about this family AU for the moment but yeah it was nice to draw something really wholesome with the OT3 again and add more to their possible future XD

Yo so I finally read your essay (on break at my bio internship XD) and I wanted to say first that I thought it was really insightful; second do you think there are intentional parallels between mikey and nicky in the graveyard and jesus and judas in the garden of gethsemane?

firstly thanks SO much for reading! & secondly i think all betrayals smack a little bit of jesus & judasisms, regardless of their intent.

i think the graveyard can function as gethsemene & the supper at the same time (one of you will betray me/if anything happens to me mikey did it/must you betray me with a kiss) but i cannot definitely say if that was a deliberate & intentional choice by elaine may

mikey & nicky compared to the other two films i talked about (the godfather & mean streets) is a LOT less overtly religious in my humble opinion, & as opposed to mean streets (where charlie's faith is the primary driving source) & the godfather (where the climax of the film is structured around a sacrament) theres really... not not that much catholicism in mikey & nicky, just the graveyard scene. theres also not a lot written about mikey & nicky in general, much less about any religion in it (excepting occasional mentions of mikey being jewish, but even that doesnt get touched on a lot) which made it more difficult to work the catholic angle

i dont have a problem with that myself, but it does mean that most of the catholic connections i made in that scene were me extrapolating existing themes in mikey & nicky (betrayal, death, etc) & connecting it to catholic teachings/catholicism.

given the lack of information in & out of the text i dont think i can say if any parallels between mikey & nicky & catholic figures or events are deliberate, but i do think they are present

This depends entirely on the relative ages involved, since I have two muses on here that are both over 2000 years old and at that point worrying about age gaps is really kinda pointless. That being said, I will not ship anything beyond purely romantic with muses below the age of 18 as a general rule, and that only because I have two muses with minor-aged verses [Dick and Conrad].

Are you selective when shipping?

To an extent; I ship chemistry above all, so there's no guarantee that - as an example - my Bucky is gonna be solidly romantically attracted to any given portrayal of Steve, or that I the writer am gonna click with the writer of any given Steve out there. Chemistry does not just mean chemistry of the characters; if our styles clash or we don't really mesh well then shipping's probably not gonna happen.

hello me again xD a very small question canonically in your au, how does esau become or become dark esau?

I believe I did not ever post it, so dw (I don't info dump abt my au much 💔)

It's difficult to think about when I realize that I don't have a plot surrounding Jacob and Esau and why they split up(their bond is just too good for me to think of something) but they are both in the wrong there.

As much as I draw Esau and present him as a big innocent guy(which is true he is baby) He doesn't really think when he snaps. He doesn't have anger issues at all, but can get nasty when mad. He did not hurt Jacob, but ruined his own(and Jacob's life) just because of a stupid decision

In order to take a devil deal, a person must sign a pact(the pact item reference!!) In which they agree and accept everything that will be done to them in order to gain a certain ability (it's not legal but the agreements between Sheol and Cathedral are a different story)

Esau, of course, is illiterate. He wouldve stopped if he knew how to read what's written in the pact. Judas who offered him the "help" completely ignored the fact that Esau doesn't know what he's getting himself into it was basically like "I receive your approval you receive super cool demon powers"

People who sign to become revenants get the worst treatment, the excuse being "the more pain they feel the more vengeful and aggressive they will be" (kind of how things like bloody lust and other sh items work)

Esau went through. A lot. He was tortured and starved, and since demons are really nasty he was also humiliated a lot which was not even written in the pact. But he did not object, because he thought they were helping him. After they finally let him die was like. Reborn with a new body I guess. But he looked nothing like a real revenant, he still had a lot of features that looked human. In short, he was hurt so much just to come out "wrong"

He never had time to think, only when everything was over he realized what had been done to him. He's a new person now, his brother won't recognize him anymore, and he feels the undying urge to take revenge on everyone who wronged him(or just thinks they wronged him!)

- Not really much has changed from last month; still poking at Precipice!verse and possible ideas for next year’s SWBB. Pretty much everything else is on the back burner.

- Didn’t get as much writing done as I’d hoped over the last month. But in order to Motivate myself, I’m going to shoot for a Halloween debut for The Other Battlestar, which means I need to finish. Like. Naming people. And come up with a title I actually like, lol...

- Maybe I’ll do some preview/etc. posts here as bonus content; giving some details about the fourish OCs who will end up playing major roles? To both keep me on task/motivated and hopefully pique some interest...we’ll see.

Castlevania:

- If I could just get this next chapter to cooperate, lol. There are so many things I want to get to! I just have to get past that...

Original Fic:

- I don’t think I wrote anything original this month, alas. Other than poking at things in my head, as one does. I did go to a library booksale, which reminded me that I have at least three half-planned projects that I need to finish researching (an alternate history where Henry VIII dies in 1536; a novel about Judas Iscariot; a novel about What If Mordred Was A Girl) so maybe I’ll see some movement on that front. For the stuff I already post on an origfic community on Dreamwidth, I really should. like. post something plot-advancing, shouldn’t I...

NaNo Plans:

I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to play it this year. And I think a lot of it depends on what I get done re: TOB and Incinctus and Protectors/Preludes over this month, because I might decide to just narrow my focus onto one of them. But most likely I’ll do what I’ve been doing the past few years, which is set myself a wordcount goal (which may or may not be greater than the 50k standard) but I can fill it with Any (fulltext) fiction writing (I think I decided outline/bullet-point form fics counted for 2/3 the wordcount when I did one during NaNo a couple years back? We’ll see if it’s relevant).

...and, yeah, I think that’s about it. Like I said, a short update...hopefully the next time I do this I’ll have more to report!

Thinking abt the parallels with Jesus growing up in his adoptive father's workshop as an Artisan (and all the Design Major!Jesus HCs lol') and Judas coming from a family of Potters. I imagine Jesus' family being v. supportive and encouraging innovative design and talking with costumers abt what kind of product they'd want or need, but Judas' family as much more conservative abt it, with a traditionalist mindset, each piece of pottery the same old and. maybe Judas wasn't good with it at all ~ A

I fr have been having a brainstorm about Jesus's adoptive dad Joseph. (Toying with the idea of writing a fic about him...we'll see.) He's this regular craftsman, getting ready to marry this girl, when he finds out she's pregnant???? And then an angel is like "yo man it's cool, God chose her to carry His Son who will also be the Divine Savior Of The World, you can still marry her and raise this kid without any dishonor!" And he just...goes with it? And supports Mary? And raises this kid who isn't his? And teaches him how to make beautiful things as a carpenter?

I am having feelings about Joseph of Nazareth ok.

I'm picturing Joseph as this very gentle guy. Maybe Jesus as a young child would wake him up in the middle of the night, having the same recurring nightmare of how "they put holes in my hands and feet". (He still has a divine awareness of his fate from an early age, but he's still a human toddler with big emotions he can't yet regulate effectively.) And Joseph doesn't fully understand what it is Jesus is afraid of, but he soothes him that he's ok right now, and distracts him by carving different animal shapes in a piece of wood while he tells him stories about them :)

Meanwhile, Judas's dad is...not that. His philosophy is to keep your head down, do what's expected of you, and no one gets in trouble. But as Judas grows up, he sees that the world isn't fair. There's poor people starving, the Romans are oppressing them all, and why won't anyone try to fix this? He and his dad get into some heated arguments about this. Many a clay pot was smashed in the crossfire -_-

Then there's the coming out aspect of it. Joseph is like "that's great son, just be careful who finds out, not everyone is ok with that..." And Jesus just gives him that Look and is like "they will hate me for many things, but that isn't one of them" or some freaky prophecy shit like that (and Joseph is like O.o). Meanwhile Judas's dad is...less than thrilled about this. (And he wonders why Judas left town with the first guy passing through xD )

So yes. Joseph is a supportive stepdad! And I love him :D

And in light of these wildly different experiences growing up, maybe it killed any spark of interest in crafting/creative pursuits for Judas? Making things with his hands just gives him a headache, thinking about his dad and all the yelling. But when he sees Jesus happily making things, taking actual joy in the act of creation (and being oh so beautiful while he does it)...maybe it urges Judas to give it another try?

(Maybe Jesus teaches him how to carve something...guiding his hands with his own...being so patient...) (Judas has to scream into his pillow for an hour afterward, he's so in love it hurts)

Judas' experiences with impossibly large animal-like beings that could kill him instantly have been to 1) sit on his car and throw food (twice) and 2) give them pets.

So it should come as no surprise that upon seeing a large wolf-like one, he crouches down and does the dog equivalent of *pspsps* by patting his thighs, "C'mere boy!"

i just had a crisis over this, like, is it disrespectful to talk about dream/etc in terms of god/jesus ?? but then my atheist friend’s voice came to me like an angel and said “fucking do it lol” so because this gave me so much brainrot as an idea, here i am :D

warnings: christianity / religion, potential religious slander (i’m using two minecraft block men in reference to god and jesus pls i’m sorry), talks of death/suffering

“Does it have to end this way?” Dream asks with a whisper, voice wobbling. He’s kneeling on the floor of the church, hands clasped in prayer; it’s the day before the finale, and he’s been told how it’s going to end. XD has always been merciless in that way - telling his only son exactly how his downfall will go ever since he’d been a child. Dream hadn’t believed it at first when Tommy showed up on the server, wide eyed and cheerful... it’s less difficult to believe now.

Doomsday rings fresh in all their minds. He’s fallen far further than he’d meant to.

XD doesn’t answer him; only stares, grimly down at him. The sphere of his head, cracked and ringed, is unforgiving and solemn. 

Dream swallows back his fears, his nerves, tries to speak with a steady voice. “Is there no other way? Is this really the way it all has to go?”

Silence again. A cold wind blows past him, and Dream, despite being covered in armour, shivers. He’s a poor representation of Jesus - knows this, because he’d died for people’s sins and come back a worse person, while Jesus had died and come back better. Dream hadn’t even died properly: he’d been torn apart in every way but physical, dissected in every wrong way by Wilbur and everyone who had pinned labels on him that had been impossible to shake off, and the only death he’d suffered had been emotional, mental, spiritual.

Spirit. His heart aches when he thinks about his horse.

Maybe he’ll see him soon.

“I know I have to,” Dream continues, softer now, pleading, “I know it’s necessary, I know it’s to save everyone else from me. And I will, I promise. I just- I just need to know something.”

He lifts his gaze to XD, swallowing thickly. 

“Will it hurt?” He whispers, with all the fragility of a child.

Finally, he gets an answer.

Yes, XD tells him, and Dream’s head bows under the weight of the god’s gaze, it will be hell for you. 

Why do I have to suffer? Dream wants to demand, but instead he nods, silent, preparing himself for the inevitable. Tomorrow will be the end of a saga. Tomorrow will bring cliffs and disks and Tommy, finally saving the day. Tomorrow will signal the end of his reign, maybe even his death, far from the server that had once been home. 

Tomorrow. At least he has today.

“Dream!” Judas calls from outside the church, and with an effort, Dream pulls himself together. “Are you coming?”

Oh boy this is a big ass post but here we go!

Showing off my Devilman ocs, and they are the three children Satan and Zennon had together during their war against heaven, Azazel, Judas and Beel. is as follows:

"Satan has many regrets and one of them was how he and Zennon raised the children they had together. Satan and Zennon needed more firepower for their army in their war against God and Heaven, so they agreed to have as many children together to raise as soldiers. However after giving birth to three children, the angel on the left is Azazel, the middle is Beel and the one on the right is Judas, Satan felt unexpectedly maternal towards them and was at first reluctant to turn them into weapons and get pregnant, but feeling pressured to do what was needed for the demons survival, he ended up giving them up. However God took advantage of his wayward child's hesitation to conceive again and quickly made Satan sterile, not wanting a half angel/half demon army to be born. This of course caused Zennon to get angry at Satan, blaming him for his hesitation, as they could have gotten more children before God took his ability to conceive away. Satan took Zennon's words to heart and began to fall into his ways of self-loathing, Zennon wished he could've taken his words back, but didn't know how to apologise and felt he couldn't since Satan seemed to accept the blame, and fearing that he would have appeared weak if he had.

During Satan's time as Ryo he had been inspired by the Makimura's homelife, and Tarde reawakened his maternal instincts, when he remembered who he really was, he attempted to have a emotional relationship with his children again however it failed miserly due to his children's confusion of their mother's sudden affection, when all they had been raised for was war and violence. Ryo/Satan kept trying to emotionally reach his children even more when Miki and the Makimuras had died and Akira declared war on him, but once again it failed even after twenty years. When their children are killed by Akira's devilmen, Zennon feeling an unexpected grief no longer hides his resentment of how Satan has constantly protected Akira and blames Satan for their deaths, forcing Satan to make his cold war with Akira and the Devilman Army, hot."

However I ended up making changes to their fates lately thanks to rping with a friend of mine in the devilman fandom. In our AU the kids have been raised very differently thanks to Satan giving the kids over to his brother Azrael (Azrael who belongs to @akirenhell) to raise them since he felt guilty about agreeing to make them into child soldiers in the first place and wanted his brother to raise them to be better while he prepares to fight God and Heaven. And thus the kids have had an actual childhood and aren't going to die for the angst XD but oh boy Zennon will be very upset who Satan gave their kids over to Azrael to raise! XD

Azazel is gender fluid but tends to go for a (intersex) female form when in their human guise. Azazel has extreme level of empathy to the point they can feel the emotions of others even when far away and has the same kind of psychic powers as their mother does(Satan) and they are very strong like their father and can use their ram horns to bash in their foe's heads. They are very loving and sweet to those who they love but fiercely protective over them and can get easily over whelmed when taking in too many strong emotions at once.

Judas looks like a mix between their mother and father the most. They can use their powerful hooves to crush their foes, as well use light beams to fry or blind them. Their third eye allows them to see things or beings that are usually hidden from normal eyes. Judas is the one who tries to fix things or please people the most, going out of their way to make the person they care about the most happy, even at the cost of their own happiness. Luckily since being raised by Azrael, they've learned not to sacrifice themselves so much, but it does slip out from time to time. Judas is non binary and enjoys being a gender fucker in their human form, wanting to remind humanity that gender is mostly a social construct.

Beel takes the most after his father, with the horns and having multiple heads, and thus some emotional management issues, but thankfully being raised by Azrael, he has a better handle on his emotions and able to express them much more healthily. He is as physically strong and tough as his father and has very sharp claws. Beel is a big food lover and throughout the centuries has loved enjoying trying all the different foods humanity has to offer, as stated he does has some anger issues that are at least handled but he will fly off the handle if anyone he loves is threatened.

This was a heck of a project to do and I still do have a group shot to do of them and their Uncle Azrael but I'm happy how all of these digital art portraits of them came out, really feels like I've improved a lot over these recent months :D

aaah hello, OK!!! I can share a few, honestly it's mostly a case of me just idly listening to songs by fave bands that I always listen to and suddenly thinking "heehoo what if i applied this to metal gear" LOL

I love Depeche Mode and so much of their stuff fits so well with metal gear, just the dark (and horny) vibes, but in particular I'm gonna mention Judas by them because I think it fits bosselot well. Not in a very healthy way, because the song is all kind of...loving someone religiously to the point of sacrificing your own health and piece of mind in return (possibly) for someone else's love (LOL)...

I won't write an essay but just. lines like "walk on barefoot for me, suffer some misery" and "open yourself for me, risk your health for me/ if you want my love" just. They make me think of older bosselot, from the 80s onwards, when you've got Big Boss descending into this truly awful, manipulative monster of a villain, and Ocelot increasingly choosing to make ridiculous sacrifices for him, i.e. the self hypnosis in '84 and then being possessed by liquid and eventually letting liquid basically take over for mgs4 and only returning to his real self right before he dies, and just in general all the stuff he's been masterminding ultimately for the sake of Big Boss. (And, you know, it's even worse because I don't see Big Boss as reciprocating Ocelot's feelings to the same extent, so it's just like...you've got Ocelot, the worst person ever, acting as a sort of devil's apostle, martyr even, idk man I just love the strange contrast of it all where they're both these dark, dark people in an awful tale but Ocelot can also be seen as this self sacrificing, devotional figure, motivated to do all the horrible stuff he does by a love that may or may not be requited.)

I said I wasn't going to write an essay and then went on a bosselot tangent, my apologies but they really get me acting extremely unwise I'm so sorry xD

I'd also say 'Shake The Disease' by Depeche Mode is vaguely bosselot, kind of from Ocelot's perspective.

I've been meaning to draw something BBKaz related captioned with lines from the song 'Thick As Thieves' by The Jam... honestly the song is more abt childhood friends falling out than. well. war buddies and great life ruining love and betrayals, but the lines 'like a perfect stranger, you came into my life/ then like the perfect lone ranger you rode away, rode away' immediately conjured up BB riding off into the evil sunset on his silly little motorcycle and leaving Kaz behind etc..

Oh, also Halo by Depeche Mode, I think the user jxthics on here did some bosselot art captioned with lyrics from that, and they were extremely right because it's a very bosselot song imo.

Like I said there are a lot of Depeche Mode songs I relate to mgs, so I won't list them all, and apologies if they're not your kind of thing xD

Sometimes it's just one or two lines from songs that make me think of ships, like in 'Is There Something I Should Know' by Duran Duran there's a wonderfully cheesy bit which goes 'don't say you're easy on me, you're about as easy as a nuclear war' and that phrase and the song in general makes me think of MGS3 bosselot idk xD

What are your thoughts on Robrae? I like them as a couple but honestly I love them platonically too like they could be together or just best friends. In the animated cartoon version, they always trusted each other and had this bond and during Trigon, he was so protective of her. Im glad you had a little part of them in your Renegade fic btw

I love Robrae! (although I feel like there should be another ship name for them since the name can be confused with Damirae for those unfamiliar with the 2003 show's way of never naming characters lol)

I used to only ship them secretly because a young me had a sense of shame "breaking up" canon couples (I shipped dickkori and bbrae as well, but robrae was just one of those "guilty pleasures"). I think it does take you to "grow out" of that mindset of equating fantasy with reality (back in the day, "breaking up" canon couples and shipping them with someone else felt too much like making characters cheat, which was nonsense since they aren't real). And now, having matured from that, I ship everything openly.

I love the show for giving us the Robrae content we need in the Trigon arc. The show had many faults, and there were quite a few storylines that were too insignificant for me to remember. But in my head, there were 2 arcs that alone made the show worth watching: the first being Terra's Judas Contract line, and the second being Raven's Trigon line.

They were both thrilling rides, breaking that "serialized" quality of the show and giving us a sense of things being at stake. And Robin having to travel past the wasteland to find his fallen friend (whom he still believes is alive even though there's no proof of that) is just one of those things that really gets stuck in your head.

Dick meeting a younger Raven and bringing her home, inspiring her to rebel against her fate. In the end, she overcomes and "grows into her actual age" to symbolize maturity and saves the day. And need I say I used to think this scene with her in her new white cloak embracing Robin looked awful like a wedding shot? XD

Really inspired me to put this little frame in my comic, too...

Anyway, I do wish there are more comic material of these two, or fan content not necessarily based on the show. I mean, these two kissed in NTT! (I know it's a dream and Dick was still with Kori at the time, but c'm on, that's canon art of them kissing!)
