Reactions to Deal Maker's Chapter 196
TL;DR - Game console has a fingerprint recognition function, so Cale couldn't play it. Wi tempting Cale and Raon to stay longer. Alberu and Cale talk about Ahn Roh Man. Cale meets GoB and GoH.
Unplayable Game
So the game console wouldn't let Cale play it because there was a fingerprint recognition function. Even creating a new user needed the fingerprint of the previous owner of the game console. Thus, Cale asked Ron to borrow for a while Blood Demon's arms that got cut off before she turned to dust.
There was some details about the game. The player's avatar was a child, though the child's sex was unclear to Cale. The child stood on a meadow and five planets in different colors were in the sky.
One funny part here:
Cale: (Wait, is it okay for me to show myself operating this game console so naturally to Ron? Uhh... it's too late now though...) Cale: *smiles awkwardly at Ron* Ron: *has a strained smile* Cale: (Did he just look at me as if I'm very funny?) Ron: *reverts back to his gentle smile* I will be heading to Chief Eunuch Wi then. Cale: ...Uh, okay.
Now that this arc is nearing its end, are we finally going to have Cale's conversation with the Molans? I'll be cheering for you, Cale! 😂
Wi's Temptations
The chief eunuch pleaded to Cale to stay in the Central Plains longer by offering him lots of stuff. Slacker life? We'll grant that dream for you! Central Plains food tour? No problem! Raon wants sweets? We have the most delicious fruits, though it will only ripen in 6 months.
Cale's reaction to that was to avoid Wi and try to leave the Central Plains as soon as possible. 🤣🤣🤣 He even found Wi scary when Wi attempted to tempt Raon with sweets. But c'mon, Cale. Someone's finally offering you a chance at a slacker life, but you're running away from it?
Then again, given how the murim people were keeping their distance from Cale as if he was someone so amazing they couldn't dare to approach, Cale's reaction was not a surprise. Yes, Cale. Your bad feeling is right. They are your Caleism believers.
However, HD was now following CH around instead of Cale. What? What about my HD x Cale ship? Did I just see it sinking? Nooooo... 😭
Bright Alberu
We had another conversation with our bright sun, and they discussed about Ahn Roh Man. Cale dismissed the possibility of Ahn Roh Man being a hunter, and Alberu said he would contact Ahn Roh Man through the customer service line of Taerang to get more information.
Cale noticed that Alberu was brightly smiling, and when he asked why, Alberu replied that he had just finished talks with other countries about Cale's mine exports. Cale viewed his smile as insidious, but the author poetically described the smile as "fresher than the flowers blooming on a spring day."
Cale wanted Alberu to come with him in his world hopping, but realized that if Alberu did that, it would only be if Zed was involved and it was a dire situation. Ah, I guess we won't have Alberu going to other worlds too. 😞
Cale and the Gods
Cale finally read GoD's message, and immediately refused meeting GoB. But GoD insisted, even suggesting Cale to just have a peek of GoB's face.
However, things didn't work out for Cale because GoD told Cale that the very impatient GoB was actually heading his way! Cale was still in Blood Demon's childhood bedroom, but he suddenly heard the sound of heels and found himself alone in the room.
Just like GoD, Cale froze and found himself unable to move at the presence of GoB. And when GoB spoke, Cale thought that GoB's voice resembled an elegant old lady... YES! My theory was right! GoB's a woman! 🤩 Our dom mommy Goddess of Balance! Or was it grandma because her voice sounded like an old lady?
GoB explained to Cale that his actions were causing imbalance, and the other worlds and gods had to carry the "counteracting weights" to maintain balance. But Cale and his companions were overdoing it, so the others were having a hard time.
She was grateful to Cale for his work against the hunters, but still warned him that despite his good intentions, balance had to be maintained. And cautioned him that some of the imbalance he created might even come back and harm him and his companions who caused the imbalance. This was something that even she could not stop.
Cale was shocked at her words, and she laughed "Fufu" before proposing a solution - become a god. Okay, I seriously laughed hard at this one. 🤣🤣🤣
GoB said that if a god's myth spreads across worlds, the "laws" of those worlds would accept it as reality, and thus create a new balance. She whispered to Cale's ear if he wanted to become a god, and added that rejecting it was a bad idea.
Her voice sounded gentle and soft, but was also oppressive and insistent. Her words had an irresistible charm, but Cale resisted it. Or more like, Cale was busy trying to resist DA from running wild. 😂
However, while GoB was talking to Cale, another god arrived. It was the God of Hope (GoH), whose arrival was signaled by the flickering lights in the room. And DA's response to that was cutely hilarious. 😂
GoB: *tries to recruit Cale into godhood* DA: Don't stop me, Cale! I want to make a god kneel! Cale: (No.) DA: LET ME OUT, CALE! Cale: (Why are the ancient powers so crazy?) GoH: *arrives in the room* DA: Oh, two gods are too much. Okay, bye! Haha! Cale: (This crazy bastard...)
Ending Remarks
I very much enjoyed today's chapter. The gods part was the best. Cale's slacker life dream keeps getting further from him though... 😂Next chapter would be a continuation of Cale's meeting with the gods. Will GoH also recruit Cale to be a god? 🤣🤣🤣
P.S. GoD, you lucky guy. You get to have mommy Goddess of Balance to dominate you? 😳

What Modern Pokemon Means to Me
I've felt this way for so long, and I can't just not talk about it anymore. I'm hoping to find more people who feel this way, and I think Tumblr is the best place to do so. (cw: su/c/de)
In elementary school, I was cheerful and loud all the time, and people thought I was weird for it. I had been told my whole life that I was so unique and special, and since I only got that validation from adults, I would do everything in my power to get more validation by doing whatever adults told me to do and valuing whatever they told me to value. I was almost blindly obedient, and I sought academic validation. I started masking my ADHD. I was so stiff on the outside that I rarely cried anymore, especially at things other people would cry over. I felt like there was something wrong with me, or that I really was emotionless.
When puberty started and genetic mental illnesses came into play, I became a husk. I never displayed emotion, and people called me a zombie. I was frustrated. What did they want from me if I couldn't be loud or quiet? Classmates would ask me unprompted if I was depressed, exchange an amused look with their friends if they were paired with me for a group project, and whisper about me when they thought I couldn't hear.
Since I was a preteen, I would continually push away the people in my life because I had mental health issues that made it draining to talk to people. I wanted to spend all my time alone because I wanted to rest--I constantly wanted to be left alone in silence because everything going through my head was already too stimulating. My younger brother, my biggest supporter, would try asking me to play with him or try to talk to me about something he was excited about, and I pushed him away every time. He thought it was because I was tired and lazy all the time, because that was what I told him. He began to resent me for always leaving him alone, and even though I never tried explaining myself or even going to him for support, I thoroughly believed it was my fault for leaving him behind.
People who make fun of "teenage angst" are just making fun of themselves for what they see as "dramatic" looking back. It's easy to forget that regardless of what hormones generate them, feelings of depression are real and harmful. It felt like no matter where I turned, there was no light to overcome the darkness.
Gens 7 and 8 of Pokemon have gotten me through the worst of my teenage and pre-teen years. I had been following the Gen 6 anime by the time it was ending, and I was so excited for the next chapter of Ash's journey. I remember going around school telling everyone, "ASH LEAVES KALOS ON THURSDAY! NOVEMBER 17!!!" Not many people wanted to hear it, but for what felt like the first time in forever, I didn't care. I was already known as a zombie at school, and there weren't many things I unapologetically loved so much.
I was in middle school when covid hit. During online school, I felt lonely, scared, and sad. I had the rest and lack of stimulation I had always wanted, but I didn't realize how much it helped to be at school where I was forced to interact with other people. When I was really alone with my thoughts, I couldn't find a reason to live anymore. I was having s//c/d/l thoughts. One day during my lunch time, as I nibbled at my sandwich with my head down on the desk, I decided I may as well catch up on the latest episodes of Pokemon Journeys.
The Beautifly episode was playing, but I was only half paying attention, barely able to focus on anything. Ash had misheard and thought they were going to watch Beautifly hydrate, and Goh had a short fantasy about a Beautifly laying on the beach with a cup of juice before realizing the mistake.
He phrased it something like:
"Yeah, they look so peaceful when theY HYDRA-HOLD ON!!!!"
And I just died laughing.
I knew the joke wasn't funny. The funny part was Zeno Robinson's delivery. I must have replayed it ten times. It was the first time in months that I'd felt like everything was okay.
I even showed the scene to my brother. We both laughed at it for at least ten minutes. It was so nice to share something with him.
I became a bigger fan of the show, and started shipping Ash and Goh. It wasn't because Goh was flamboyant, although I won't deny that many fans assert him to be a certain sexuality based on how he presents himself, which is stereotyping at best and homophobic fetishization at worst. I ship the characters because I think they're compatible and are just cute together. That was when I found the Satogou Discord server.
I had never really had online friends like the ones I had on that server. For what felt like the first time, I had found people I could talk about anything with for hours. While progress wasn't a straight line, I was beginning to have s//c/d/al thoughts less and less because the people and media in my life filled me with light to overcome that darkness.
And then episode 62 aired.
In that episode, Goh's Sobble evolves into Drizzile. It was so excited to be an Inteleon that it didn't realize there was a middle stage in between. It couldn't even use Water Gun properly anymore, and other Pokemon made fun of it for that. It began isolating itself, and when Cinderace forced it to come out of its cave, it ran away in tears.
When Goh finds Drizzile, he tells it about his own childhood, when he was pointed out as being different for reasons even he didn't fully understand. When he asked himself "Why?" he only felt frustrated. This is what he tells Drizzile:
"I don't understand, but that's okay. And I don't need immediate answers, either. ... I'm fine if you just want to be who you are. ... If it helps you to nest, just do it. And if at some point you feel like being with a friend..."
"...I'll be there whenever you need me."
I didn't cry. I almost cried, but I didn't. And I didn't need a reason why anymore. Anyone else may have cried. I might have been a zombie or a husk for not crying.
...Maybe it was because I wasn't overwhelmed by what was going through my head anymore. It made me remember what I had been through, but the way these characters reached out to me was so much more meaningful than anything that came before.
The media that allowed me to laugh and to live and to make friends with ease once again provided light to me, not blinding me, but providing for me a moment of clarity.
I know not everyone likes the newer seasons of Pokemon. It doesn't fit the formula that provided light to those who have been fans for a longer time, and believe me, I understand how important these things are, but goddamnit, it's one thing to dislike a piece of media and an entirely different thing to continue arguing when you find out it means something to someone else. I respect those who don't like the newer seasons, and I won't tell you they're better than the ones that came before because, at least to me, they simply can't be compared to each other.
I know not everyone likes Goh, but I miss him so much for what he represented, and I can't thank the creators of Pokemon 2019 enough for what they went through to make what they did.

Ash Ketchum Becomes Reigning Champion During World Coronation Series
Tumblr media
Above: Ash Ketchum holding the World Coronation Series trophy after defeating Galar's champion Leon in the finals of the Master Class.
By: Admin | 31.12.2023 | 1.5k words
Introduction
Finally, young Ash Ketchum has reached the top during the recent World Coronation Series after his several years of defeats from the many Pokémon Leagues he participated in.
Ketchum has not only participated in seven Leagues aside from the Coronation Series, but also actively contributed to the formation and organisation of the Alolan League (of which he fought in and became Champion). Ketchum is revered by many from all walks of life and all ages, and seeing his track record of saving the world, he truly deserves the praise and admiration he gets.
The Journey: Boy to Adolescence
Kanto & Johto
Although most of his badges were rumoured to have been obtained through means other than battling, he still got to Top 16 in the Indigo League, and Top 8 in the Silver Conference. No one can deny his love and kindness towards his Pokémon and friends alike is something not many have.
During the Kanto and Johto periods of Ash's journey, his main rival was Gary Oak. Yes, the Gary Oak. Sources say that Ash and Gary used to be childhood best friends, before something unfortunate happened that caused their friendship to sour. Many times did they butt heads, but many times too did they work together to thwart the plans of evil organisations such as Team Rocket. However, Gary later decided to change paths to work towards following in his grandfather's footsteps. Today, Gary is a renowned researcher in Project Mew, coincidentally alongside Ash's recent travel companion Goh.
Ash travelled with Gym Leaders Misty and Brock of Cerulean and Pewter respectively. The same team carried into Johto, and Brock following Ash all the way to Sinnoh. I interviewed Brock about the young boy, and his experiences seemed quite...chaotic.
"Ash is an enigma. Sometimes, you know exactly what he's gonna do, but you can never seem to figure out his way of thinking. He started off as a really naïve and temperamental boy, but at least he's grown and matured while keeping that same mentality."
"And what would you say was his most redeeming quality?" I asked.
Brock smiled, "His personality. Even though he was easily annoyed, the sheer amount of times he brought the mood up for everyone when we were busy saving the world is...Ash is special. Special to many. He lives in all of his companions's hearts, that I can say with confidence."
"How lovely. Would you say he deserved the title of Champion?"
"I think, in many people's minds, he's already their Champion."
Hoenn
"Ash is a like a very annoying big brother."
May is a famous coordinator who has travelled with Ash during his Hoenn days, along with her little brother Max and Brock. She notes that Ketchum destroyed her bike on the first day of her Pokémon Journey.
"Apparently, he did that to Misty's bike too. I think he still owes us those new bikes."
Old 'grudges' aside, Ash once again placed Top 8 in the Ever Grande Conference.
Ash's save-the-world-meter in this era was slowly turning up, with Team Aqua and Team Magma standing in his way, both with malicious intents to wipe out/take over the world respectively. Sightings of Rayquaza, Groudon and Kyogre were noted by locals.
Sinnoh
The daughter of famous retired Coordinator Johanna, Dawn, followed Ash on his Sinnoh Journey accompanied by Brock once again. Some may come to think that Brock must've wanted to travel a lot since young and kept that in until he was free to travel without worrying about his many brothers and sisters.
Ash's encounters in Sinnoh were by no means normal. The Lake Trio was the least of it all, with the most jaw-dropping information having revealed to us by Ash Ketchum himself.
"It was a whole thing with Arceus, Dialga and Palkia! I don't really remember it though. It's been so long!"
This explains many things about Ketchum, of which I will let you decide what it exactly entails.
Ash finally climbed to Top 4 in the Lilly of the Valley Conference.
Unova
Ketchum is undoubtly more relaxed in Unova. Maybe it was due to the carefree-spirited people and Pokémon of the region, but Ash noted that he felt like he felt freer.
This time, Brock took a backseat in accompanying Ash and went back to Kanto to become a Pokémon Doctor. Ash's companions in this region is, funnily enough, someone also in the Master League. None other than the Dragon Princess herself partnered up with Ash and Cilan, another Unovan Gym Leader, through the region.
Kalos
And alas, home base! Well, my home base anyway. Many say that the Kalos region was where Ketchum's fashion sense peaked, it turns out that he had many girls his age turning heads to see that blue jacket with those baggy pants.
His companions in Kalos consists of our very own Kalos Queen Serena, along with the siblings who manage Lumiose City's gym, Clemont and Bonnie. Quite the adventurous group!
Ash managed to clinch the runner-up place in the Lumiose Conference, only second to one of our Champions, Alain. However, Alain had refused the position and had gone off to spend time with his sister.
The epic final battle that happened between Ash and Lysandre was truly a sight to see. I could still remember everyone's eyes glued to the television, and everyone who had met Ash or at least heard about him had their hands clenched together, all wishing him the very best to be able to defeat Lysandre.
Special mention to Ash's Greninja, who could Mega-Evolve without a Mega Stone. This phenomena is still being researched by Professor Sycamore to this day.
Alola
If you thought that Unova Ash was laid back, wait til' you hear about this one. This era was truly his peak RNR time.
His companions during his time in Alola would be everyone in the Pokémon School that he attended, run by Professor Samuel Oak's cousin.
"This was an entirely new experience for me! I've never consistently hung out with so many people before, and I've never been formally schooled since I left for my journey so early. It was pretty eye-opening, but also led me to realise that I had some issues with staying put in one place. I got bored pretty fast. Not saying that Alola is boring - it's just...I can't really sit still if you get what I mean."
It was something everyone around him worried about, but nevertheless, he somehow still managed to help organise the Manalo Conference AND reach the top as Alola's first ever champion.
Galar
Ash's time in Galar had been an eventful one, battling trainers left and right from the World Coronation Series. It seems that he enjoys Galarian recipes as well, with people flocking to Galar just to eat their well-known scones that Ash had popularised.
Ash's acts of bravery to defend peace were more well-known during this era due to the globalisation of Rotom devices such as Rotomphones and Rotompads. His courage being shown on screens worldwide had made him climb in popularity.
Ash travelled to Galar with a fellow Kantonian, Goh, as research fellows for Cerise Labs. As previously mentioned, Goh eventually joined Project Mew alongside Ash's old rival-turned-good-friend Gary Oak on a journey to find Mew. The two however, only parted ways before Ash's Master League battles.
"Goh is truly a one-of-a-kind friend you don't really get to see anywhere. He's all the science-y and tech-y part of being a research fellow. I'm the more curious one!" Ash smiles, nibbling onto the scone from the café we were at.
"Both Gary and Goh are amazing. They know so much about Pokémon too!"
Future Plans
This young boy, however, seems to think that the Leagues and battles he participate in are a smaller slice of what he wants to be in the future. In an interview with the Pokénews Network, he mentioned that his true goal was to become a 'Pokémon Master'. He himself has said that he does not know what it means to be one, but that's probably why he's on a journey.
Despite the lack of answers to his goals, Ash said that he would be settling down with his mother back in Pallet Town for a while. "I just feel like I owe it to her, y'know? She's been supporting me in whatever I do back at home, ever since I left for my Pokémon Journey when I was ten. The least I could do was indulge her in the last few years I get to be a kid and maybe help her out at home."
"Although - my Pokémon Journey is by no means at its end. I'm still gonna venture out there someday to see more Pokémon, get to know them, maybe battle a lil' here and there! But for now, I feel like I should give back some years that my mum lost from my journey."
Mother to Ash Ketchum, Delia Ketchum, shares a similar sentiment. "Ash has very much grown into a big boy now. I'm grateful to everyone who was able to support him while I wasn't there, and to the many people and Pokémon he befriended over the course of his journey. But I do miss having Ash around in the house, it gets a little too quiet for me."
"Do you regret letting him go on his journey?"
"No. If he wants to be the very best like no one ever was, who am I to stop him?"

Double request. little ! ash (pokemon) hcs. I picture him as a flip.
the skrunkly boyyyy...
Tumblr media
Flip Ash Ketchum Headcanons!
ash has Been Through Some Shit, and he's just a kid, but as he gets older he starts realizing that sometimes he doesnt feel his age. he still *feels* ten, even when hes 16, 17, 18...
naturally, that is extremely frustrating. he is a pokemon champion, one of the top in the world, he shouldn't feel like the twerpy 10 year old that ran through regions and naively battled his way into leagues
yet here he is, at 18 years old, curled up in his childhood bed with a stuffed gengar cuddled to his chest, feeling like his whole world is collapsing around himself
his friends have grown up, moved on from him, and barely keep in touch. at least may and serena still tag him in instagram posts. at least goh sends him messages on discord when he catches a new pokemon
he feels like he grew up too fast. he didn't appreciate the world he traveled, the friends he made, the rivals he had. its all just a blur, no matter how much he tries to slow down the memories and replay them in his mind. it scares him that he can't remember what certain memories are from when and where
not to mention the scars on his arms and legs, the way he's been a trainer for not even a decade and he's already taking advil just to get through the day. he thought taking a break from battling would be good for him, but now he feels unimportant, and every injury he's ever had has time to catch up with him
he spends too much time at prof. oak's training his pokemon. he pushes himself too hard for too long. he collapses, exhausted, and crying
tracey and gary find him and get him inside to settle him down (its not an easy task). they get a wet rag on his forehead to cool him down, gary has to hold his hand because ash refuses to let go, and tracey just tries to get him to drink something before he makes himself sick
gary has the idea to put on some cartoon they used to watch as kids, because that used to always calm ash down when he got hurt as a kid. it still works, thankfully
pikachu brings over a stuffed charizard from gary's room (umbreon totally showed pika the stash) and ash just immediately latches on to cuddle it
after that, gary is for sure he knows whats going on, ash regresses. he spends about a month just trying to casually, subtly help ash and take care of him, until ash asks What Is Going On, Gary because clearly gary knows something he doesnt
gary explains regression, and it definitely matches up, and ash has to weasel out of him why he knows about it
(gary regresses too hehehehe)
now ash wants to take care of him! the horror! but he is surprising good at this, and he even lets gary win board games
once ash fully understands age regression and how to take care of regressors, he starts collecting regressors (some of who don't even know they're regressors until he gets ahold of them)
goh, may, drew, lillie, paul (that one surprised them both)
ash also gets the care he needs, just...he usually only gets it from gary, and thats by choice. sometimes kiawe is allowed to help, but thats it!!
ash has a bag of toys he keeps with him at all times, both for himself and for anyone else who might need them
he loves to make bentos for his friends and make them all cute and decorative. if they do it back to him he'll cry
juice box king. give him his juice and no one gets hurt
this is more just a mental image i love but!! regressed ash playing with donphan!! trunk is now a slide!!!!
his tauros are not allowed to be around him when he is regressed because they Will trample him. no they do not understand this. yes they are very sad gary give them treats
another cute image and i'll quit this ridiculously long post akxdjckakzrj: gengar plays hide and seek with him all the time and they both adore it
i have. so many feelings about ash haha

Ash isn't hanging out with the Champions in Episode 115 you say? I don't know, he probably considers Goh to be the Champion of his heart:-D.
Ash is such a lucky guy! 🤗
He's going to be living his dream battling the World Champion, and he has the Champion of his heart to thank for it and cheer him on. 💖
Let's remember it was Goh that researched and explained to Ash how he could get a battle with Leon:
Let's also not forget it was Goh that got Ash back on track when he got depressed over his losing streak:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Ash has worked to help his Pokémon become stronger and obtain new forms, Goh was right there at his side, assisting and protecting in any way he could:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite his preference for catching, Goh's still helped Ash with his training:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the way Goh cheers for Ash at all his matches? Goh's voice stands out above all others and gives Ash strength:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Would Ash even be where he is today without Goh? Maybe he still would've entered the PWC, and made his way into the M8. Who knows? What is clear though is Goh has been there every step of the way, helping Ash climb the ranks, and standing ready to catch him when he stumbles.
Ash choosing to watch the M8 battles with Goh is his way of saying thank you. That, and because he knows he'll enjoy the battles more with Goh.
Rather than watch the M8 competition with the Champions from around the world, he's going to spend it with the Champion of his heart, of his world. 💖
But that's just my opinion. You might want to ask the Alolan Champion himself over at @askthejourneysgang and see if he agrees (also, if you want to see Goh turn redder than a tomato, 'cause that's always fun, right? 😉).

"Got it."
Looks like it's a headhunt. Nothing she can't handle. Gebura noted how the big brute fought and after all it takes a brute to fight a brute. Damn it! That would explain why Kotaro was so receptive to her request. A groan escapes her as she joined the group looking for Goh.
The man had four inches on her and was built like a brick shithouse but she faced scarier and won.
"Oi, you two over there! Need a hand?"

Do you know how the anime justified it when Fairy type was introduced? Like, how do you explain how Clefairy is resistant to Fighting type all of a sudden?
I actually don't sorry 😅 I stopped watching the anime for a while, got back into it for Alola and a bit of the Goh series then quit again lol I'd like to finish it! But no I'm not sure what they did when they introduced fairy!
Anyone else here that could answer?

ASH'S 1ST TEAM! (Pokemon Journeys Rewrite)
(All of the genders are simply headcanons or genders I think they would have, unless they are confirmed, like Pikachu for example.)
TEAM:
PIKACHU♂️-Duh.
PURRLOIN♀️-Guys I know it's weird and makes no sense but hear me out-I got the idea thinking about Purrloin and Pokemon Journeys Rewrite stuff I think and I was like "Imagine if Ash caught a Purrloin that was a little brat and yada yada ohmygosh" and so this happened...so, when Ash, Goh, (and Chloe,) head to the Galar region (to visit Sonia and Prof. Magnolia) instead of their food getting stolen by Scorbunny and the Nickits it's instead PURRLOIN and the Nickits! (Pure irony.) Like Scorbunny in the OG ep, Purrloin is covered in soot, except instead it's like, big spots, so Ash kind of gives her the cute nickname "Spots" and may I remind you in the manga he named Pikachu Jean Luc Pikachu so yeah, um, so, same as the original episode, they chase Purrloin and the Nickits, eventually find them, Ash tries to get their food back but Purrloin tries to attack him so the Nickits can get away with their food, but Pikachu comes in and defeats her, and after that like Scorbunny she's butthurt about it, and also like Scorbunny when she's mad she claws at legs or something, (a new version of ankle biter?) and Pikachu makes sure she keeps her attitude in check, (it's ELECTRIC,) but Ash notices how scrawny she is and is all like "Aw, poor guy or gal 😰" and then the food shopkeeper guy comes in, and Purrloin tries to protect the Nickits but gets in trouble, so Ash pulls what Goh did and lies about how Purrloin is his Pokemon to get her out of trouble, and like the OG the shopkeeper explains the backstory of Purrloin, how she's most likely from the Wild Area, and despite the irony, befriended the Nickits and became their leader, and he knew Ash was lying, and then Ash talks to Purrloin about how there's more to stealing, and uhhhhh...they can help....? (I need to rewatch that episode and get ideas) and Purrloin is inspired cause for once someone seemed to understand her, then they leave for the train, and the Nickits help her get to the train like in the OG episode, and clean her up, but instead they come with her, and instead of getting split up, she finds Ash and the crew and gets his attention by the great way she knows how...clawing legs. And then she joins them! Or something. (The Nickits also tag along and come home with them, and get cute little nicknames and accessories to tell them apart, I'm still thinking about them though.) It's kind of an episode to also delve in more on Goh and Chloe starting to realize the bond of Pokemon and how Ash sees it or something, IDK.
SOBBLE♂️-So, uhhhhh, when they go meet Sonia and Prof. Magnolia they also get to meet Leon and his little brother Hop and it's amazing and stuff and don't wanna spoil too much, but anyways, the Pokemon Leon is taking care of (not gonna spoil either) escape and run off, so they split up to find them, and Ash finds Sobble, who keeps on hiding and turning invisible, so Ash tries to talk to Sobble, and realizes to be patient, so he acts calmly and waits for Sobble, who is finally able to come out, and despite their bashful nature, feels reassured by how understanding he was, and uhhhhhhhh yada yada Sobble decides to come with Ash and Leon allows it (how do I not spoil this?)
ROOKIDEE♂️-So, not gonna try to spoil too much, but Goh and this Pokemon he befriended get attacked by this Rookidee, so Ash comes in with Pikachu, Purrloin, and Sobble ready to battle...but Rookidee is easily able to intimidate Sobble, slams into Purrloin before she can claw him, and flies away before Pikachu can zap him into oblivion. Sobble feels bad for getting scared so easily and letting Purrloin get beat up and the Rookidee, and Ash and his team try to reassure him...Purrloin's way of reassuring him BTW is encouraging him to beat Rookidee to a pulp next time he sees them. So, Rookidee comes back, cause they're...kind of a show-off and bully sort of...and they toy around with Pikachu and then proceed to scare Sobble yet again, but Purrloin yet again comes in and tries to get back at Rookidee and to protect Sobble, (she kinda has a bit of a soft spot for him, but still kinda teasing towards him at times, she's like...a big sister towards Sobble,) but Rookidee flies around with her on him, (like Pikachu and Latios,) gets her dizzy, and then shakes her easily off, (+fall damage) and while Ash and Pikachu check on her, Sobble has enough and steps in, although realistically he's still scared, but Pikachu and Ash cheer him on, so Sobble is a bit more encouraged, and tries to be brave for them, and so, he blasts Rookidee with a bug Water Gun, slowing Rookidee down, soaking their feathers, and driving them to the ground. Rookidee takes it personal and in a drive of anger, tries to finish off Sobble right there, but Sobble smacks him with their tail, and blasts yet another powerful Water Gun, slamming them into the tree. Weakened, Ash is proud of Sobble, and the team congratulates him, but is also genuinley impressed by Rookidee, and catches him.
SCORBUNNY (SHINY)♂️-LOOK I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING BUT DON'T WORRY GOH STILL HAS HIS SCORBUNNY AND I KNOW IT'S A SHINY but there's an important storyline following this capture and I don't want to spoil it but let's just say it's sad and similar to Litten and Stoutland
EGG--->TOXEL♀️-Like the games, Ash gets an egg from the nursery that hatches into this little gal. A joke is that after Toxel hatches, Prof. Cerise is like "This Toxel's a girl! 🙂" and Ash is all like "WHAAAAATTTT" along with the rest of the team. So, Toxel is basically the most calm on the team. Like, the whole team will be fighting and she'll be napping off. However, this can also lead to her seeming lazy most of time, but thanks to her training, she can actually be a really helpful member.
SO, UH, GONNA UPDATE ON THIS WITH THEIR PERSONALITIES, RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER, ETC.
Please gimme your opinions and like, constructive criticism, perhaps.

hey! this is chance & here’s this week’s prompt. pick one of your ocs. how would they react if they suddenly appeared right next to you, in the modern world? what would happen?
Hello Chance!
Very initially it wouldn't matter which of my characters appeared, because I am reasonably sure that the first thoughts almost any one of them would have upon "suddenly appearing right next to me" would be some variation of: "What the-? Who the-? OW! STOP HITTING ME WITH THE BROOM" while I demand to know how they got into my house. I'm assuming you mean what happens after that - or at the very least how they would react in a universe where suddenly appearing here is not the most alarming thing to happen to everyone involved.
As for a specific character, I seem to have fixated on Marmaduke for this answer. And my gosh, he would dislike SO MUCH about our world. Pavement? - What is this atrocity? Cars? - You mean you climb INSIDE that thing? Hard pass. My sad excuse for a garden? - Unnecessary plant torture. The weeds are growing better than what was planted. Smart Phones? - Utterly bizarre. This thing lets you talk to people far away? You mean like a Sending? What do you mean Sendings are more like text? What do you mean this weird glowing thing has maps in it? Show me. Google maps? - Wait, wait, wait. It tells you how to get places? Yarn stores? - What, mate? I will still looking at this map thing. You have stores just for yarn? I wanna see that. Can we use this Goh-og-lay Maps thing to get there? Acrylic yarn? - This feels weird. What kind of animal is an "Arc-ree-lyke"? What, in Earth's Green realm, is "plastic"? I can't even imagine trying to explain petroleum products and fossil fuels to the man.

Left Behind - Chapter 4
Catching Up
ASH paced back and forth and forth and back.  Noivern and Pikachu got dizzy just watching him.  Ash didn’t know it was possible to be both excited and depressed at the same time.  On one hand, happy that Misty is in love with him; on the other, really upset with himself.
“I know now, I know now, I know now!” he muttered to himself.  “Yet it still…it still feels like I’m dreaming…as if I haven’t earned it…”
That night he couldn’t sleep a wink.
***
He knew it was a bad habit but once more obsessively working became his escape.  He understood Pokémon best, they never left him unable to speak.  Whether it was the wild ones he and Goh would encounter, or settling disputes inside Professor Cerise’s nature dome, Ash Ketchum knew and related to Pokémon the best.
Yet when it came to notable ‘romantic tension’ in the dome, it became clear to Ash that even Pokémon seemed more put together than him with their feelings.  He knew how Misty feels, he could tell how he feels, but he couldn’t say the words, even behind the security of texting her…
It was odd and he hated it.  Nearly a month went by and he remained in emotional limbo.
One day Ash and Goh were sent to Pewter City to look at some Pokémon Fossils and the research being done on them.  Ash couldn’t really say he was excited, but there was no way he’d—
“Se-VIPER!”
“Swi?!”
“Whoa, WHAT?!” yelled Ash.
“Wow!  A Seviper!  And a Swinub too!”  Goh immediately went for his Pokedex and logged the Pokémon.  Feeling déjà vu and knowing Goh didn’t have the same experiences that he did, Ash instinctively reached for his belt but-
“Wait, Ash Ketchum, right?”  The boy in question looked up and was greeted by a familiar face.  “Hi.  Remember me, Lucy?”
Strangely the thought of ‘Brock’s fiancé’ was the first connection Ash made instead of being the Frontier Brain of the Battle Pike.  “O-oh, Lucy… Yes, I remember you.”
“Good,” she said.  “Seviper, back into your ball.” She did so before Lucy picked her Swinub up.  “Terribly sorry about that, Seviper’s in a fussy mood.  I imagine it’s because today they’re getting looked at by Brock.”
“Ah, yeah.  I totally get it,” said Ash, shoving down any uncomfortable feelings that were rising.  “My Pokémon back in the day always looked forward to it too.  How is he?”
“You can ask him yourself.  I’m on my way to meet him.  This way.”
Propelled by being given an order, Ash followed her with Goh behind.
“Brock… Brock…” mumbled Goh.  “Wasn’t he one of the longest of your friends to travel with ya?”
“Yeah, me and Brocko go way back,” said Ash proudly.  “Then he left to become a full-on Pokémon Doctor.”
“Oh!  And how’s that going?”
“Er…last I checked he was going from Center to Center.  I believe he was at Oreburgh in Sinnoh a while back,” began Ash.
“Right now, he’s on the last bit of onsite training and practice at Centers and wants to open a clinic soon,” explained Lucy.  “Though recently he’s had a hankering for cooking again; he just had spell at a diner which has reignited his passion for the kitchen.”
“Oh?  Very nice,” said Goh.
“That’s cool!  Brock’s always been an amazing cook,” added Ash.  “His stews are awesome.”
“Not just stews.  Plenty of other specialty’s too.”
Ash went silent.
They met with Brock soon enough.  Ash’s fingers twitched as they exchanged greetings with him.  It was especially odd once he got a full view of Brock and Lucy’s luxury home.  He reflected on just how much he was missing out.
“…and these are the footprints of what seems to be a few Bunnelby,” Brock explained to Goh.  “The single-file pattern line implies that they hide their numbers from predators like Corviknight, a tactic perhaps in addition to their quick burrowing adaptation.”
“Cool.”
“Tea?” asked Lucy as she held out a tray with the refreshments.  Everyone took one.
Brock heaved a sigh.  “Most lovely, dear.”
“Yeah,” added Ash, “it tastes great.  No wonder perhaps that Brock asked you to be his wife.”
Lucy smiled.  “Indeed!  I know I’m not the best at emoting, but I promise you that I am looking forward to our wedding day.”
Goh watched in bemusement as Ash blinked and nearly choked on his iced tea.  “Oh… I- I would’ve thought after the announcement on FacePad that you guys would’ve been married by now,” he wheezed.
Brock shrugged.  “The wedding hasn’t happened yet.  I’ve been so busy that I’ve barely been able to do much about the arrangements.  I have a few things lined up, but dates are an important thing to consider, and I haven’t had the time to map it out.”  He paused as if to consider his next words.  “Of course, I understand that not everyone is available at the same time, so I wasn’t planning for it to happen until next year at least.”
“Hey, Brocko,” said Ash suddenly.  “If you’d like…I’d like to help with your wedding plans.”
“Y-you will, Ash?”  Brock sounded shocked.  “Hallelujah!”  He jumped up from the couch and held onto Ash’s shoulders.  “I never thought I’d see the day!  I thought I’d have to forcefully negotiate with ya to get you to come to my wedding!  Ain’t no way I was going to do so without my longtime best friend!”
“Y-ya were?!”
“You bet!  I was really worried that I’d have to find someone else to be my Best Man.”
He tried, but failed, to hold in his tears.  “Thanks, Brock,” said Ash as he rubbed his eyes.  “I…I just… I was scared…for a second…that I missed another grand event for one of my friends.  I… I really want to be more involved in all your guys’ lives...”
The former Gym Leader nodded thoughtfully and gave a sympathetic grin.  “I had heard from people like May and Delia that you’ve been so busy lately that everyone thought you didn’t have time for them.  I never believed that, though.  If anything, I respect that you put your dreams first and foremost.”
“Thanks, Brocko.  I’ll try my best to be more of the friend I think I am.”
“Attaboy.”  Then Brock got close again.  “By the way…you got a girl who you can invite along…?”
“Uh…” mumbled Ash.  “Y-yeah…of course I do…”
“Who is she…?”
“W-wouldn’t you like to know…” said Ash, trying to sound sarcastic but failing.
“Mm, I think I know who it is.”  Ash paled and Brock took the hint.  “If you’re not too scared, I dare you to bring her for when Lucy’s arranging the plans for the aisle walking.”
Ash shook his head; the dare got him back to his old self.  “Yeah!  Course I’m not scared!”
***
“I’m so boned…” sighed Ash.  He just had to promise to bring Misty along when he wasn’t even sure anymore.
“Pika!  Pikachu chu, pi pika Pikachu, chu, Pikapi.”
“I know. I know!” replied Ash.  “I just…don’t know why I’m hesitating.  I know how I feel, and yet I doubt myself.  I see how things with my friends have turned out and I’m scared I’ll do it to her too.”
It was then that his phone went off.  It was a text from Misty asking when he was available to see her.  Ash paled.  He just wasn’t ready for that.  If he agreed, he’d have to face hers and his feelings.
Ash texted back a quick sentence explaining he felt too tired and didn’t have the energy for it.  Misty sent back a message of understanding.  He put the phone down and held his eyes, shaking.  “What am I doing…?”
He didn’t see Misty for some time, yet she texted a claim that she understood why.  Pikachu scolded him for it but Ash ignored him even when he’d get a Thunderbolt for his stubbornness.  Meanwhile the preparations for Brock’s wedding were finally in motion.  Ash as promised assisted in finding deals, venue, and budgeting.
The time when Ash was to bring Misty along was nearing.  She knew of the wedding but Ash hadn’t told her about his part to play in the event, he wanted that under wraps.  Being around just Brock eased Ash, but then one day…
“May!  There you are!  Have Lucy and I got a fun part for you play in the wedding.”
Ash turned and paled.  He wasn’t ready to see May, not after what happened.
“Hey Ash,” she greeted.
“Hey…” he replied.  Luckily for him Brock was too busy enthusiastically explaining his plans for the festivities for her to get involved with Ash.
Then they got to the tedious physical invite cards.  Whether it was bad luck or some sixth sense on Brock’s part, he and May were paired to take the whole lot to the post office.
May brought her son along in a stroller.  It was just big enough to support one box of invites, so Ash carried the other.  They walked along in silence save for May’s motherly cooing to her kid.
He’d just finished stuffing the last stack into the chute when his eyes turned and met May’s blue ones.  Ash immediately averted his gaze but before he could act further…
“Hey Ash, I have something for you.”  May then reached into her purse and produced a DVD case.  “My wedding video, it includes the reception ‘n’ everything as we wanted it professional filmed.”  Ash blinked and reached for the case.  “I’m sorry it took so long to give it you, but it felt wrong to just mail it to you.”
Ash grimaced as he felt the plastic case.  “May…why wasn’t I invited to it?”
He looked up and saw her fidgeting.  “Honestly,” she began shakily, “I didn’t mean any malice.  We hadn’t talked since Sinnoh.  When the date and time were arranged it just seemed wrong to pull you from all the way in Alola, especially when I heard through the grapevine that you’d only just flown back and forth from Kanto a few days prior.”
“So you assumed for me,” Ash interrupted.  He kept his gaze away from the baby as he felt partial guilt doing this to a mother but he had to make things clear.  “You assumed I wouldn’t have gone to hell and back for an event as important as that?”
“Yes…” replied May shakily, “y-you’re right, Ash.  There’s no excuse for what I did.  But-”
“But what?” he said harshly.
She quivered a little.  “Y-you…you never gave the idea that such things would interest you!” she cried.  Ash blinked.  “Ash, you’re a friend and I have nothing short of deep admiration and respect for you, but when we traveled, you always made it clear to me that love was way down your priority list.”
“Right, as if that means it’s right to assume I wouldn’t care about a wedding,” replied Ash crossly.  May shrank back.  “Thanks a lot, May.  Some friend you are.  Y’know, you’re just like everyone else, cold, uncaring, disho-”
“Ash!”
“What?”
“I’m sorry.”  May bowed her head to the ground.  “You’re right,” she said, quivering, “it was a dumb, stupid decision – one I regretted as soon as I realized I was looking for your face at the dinner.  It was my fault entirely with a choice made with a brain over a heart.”
Hearing her tearful apology.  Ash felt the red-hot hate dissipating away.  “Thanks, I guess.  I’m sorry for that.”
“You’re not wrong for feeling that way.”
Ash grimly and somberly nodded.  “Hey, by the way…” he muttered, “I also want to apologize for what I said at your house in Hoenn…about comparing June there to Skitty…”
“Wha…what’re you talking about?  It was just a joke – I knew what ya meant.”
“Oh.”
“What?  Thought I was offended?  I’m not that uptight about motherhood vs being a Trainer.”
It hadn’t been ideal but that shouting match with May had made things a lot clearer for Ash.  He felt more at ease knowing he hadn’t completely been forgotten about.  He hoped more than anything else that his involvement with Brock’s wedding would make his other friends and associates aware that he wasn’t as unavailable as many seemingly assumed.
The few friends he did manage to encounter after that saw a much happier Ash Ketchum.  His Mother was pleased to see him in higher spirits, Dawn began talking about non-Pokémon related things with him more than before, and Professor Cerise and Goh were both pleased to see him working less frantically.
“So Ash,” Brock said one morning to him not long after his confrontation with May, “in two days Lucy wants to take the walking arrangements and practice seriously.  You and your date ready for it…?”
“Y-yeah…totally,” said Ash, avoiding eye contact.
“Good,” said Brock with a smile that one’d have when they’re up to something.  “I look forward to meeting her.”
***
Ash tried reading romantic confession advice online, he tried his various friends, Gary, Chloe, Dawn, but nothing they said gave him further clarity and all of them had the audacity to tell him his “feelings were obvious.”
“So, you’re going to tell Misty how you feel?” asked Delia one morning.
“Yeah, I am.”  Ash paused as he placed a bowl into the sink.  “…Mom, do you have any advice for telling someone you love them?”
“You know how she feels – and you have been the one asking her out.  You’ll know what to say in your heart to her.”
That morning Misty had a public demonstration of her Gym Battle training.  Ash managed to catch the last few minutes.  He was impressed, the Gym’s benches were crowded with onlooking Trainers.
Amongst this crowd, to his bemusement, were numbers of photographers – presumably from the modeling magazine Misty mentioned.  Perhaps more distressing, however, were those who were just there to ogle at her.  The comments alluding to her nice figure made him angry but watching her command her Pokémon instantly took him out of it.
“Starmie, use Psybeam!  Azurill, Hyper Voice!  And Gyarados, Hydro Pump!”  All three Pokémon roared and fired their attacks.  The already pummeled targets were hit and got either incinerated or fell to pieces!
“That was a good show of strength,” Ash said to Misty after the demonstration had ended.
“Thank you.  I do have a reputation as a powerful Gym Leader to keep up.  Yet, y’know, not impossible for any rookies who come my way.”  Ash chuckled.  “So what’s the agenda today?”
“Well, today I was thinking lunch at this diner…”  Then he told her a skeleton of what he wanted to do with her that day.  They were just exiting the Gym when Misty stopped, and Ash turned to face her.
“So have any problem that you’d like my advice on?”
“Huh?”
Misty looked confused for a second and then gently held his left.  “Ash, I’m asking if there’s anything bothering you right now.”
“Oh.”  He brought his right to clasp hers and gently rubbed it. “No, not this time, Mist.  This time it’s just about us.”
Misty’s face brightened.
***
As they ate lunch at the diner, Ash felt more at ease than usual.  Talking to Misty about trivial things, work, and Pokémon was relaxing to him, especially now as they discussed his current standings with his friends.
“…I’m just glad my friendship with May wasn’t actually as…”
“Dour?”
“Yeah, somethin’ like that – dour as I thought it’d be.  I’m kinda surprised with how quickly I forgave her for everything.”
“That’s good.  When was this?  You haven’t been to Hoenn in months.”
“Uh.”  Ash froze.  “I ran into her here in Kanto.  Y’know…for Brock’s Wedding.”
Misty blinked as it clicked in her head.  “Ah, makes sense.”
They went silent after that, choosing to dig into their food.  It was as Ash thought, being with Misty now has a sort of calming effect on him.  This had been true months ago but now he was sure of it.  It helps that he’s starting to feel better about his relationship with his friends – she’d been so instrumental in that, probably more than she realizes.  All this made him appreciate her more and more…
“Ash,” said Misty as she chewed on some noodles, “you seem…troubled.  Is something wrong?”
“Huh?  Oh, sorry…just was spacing out.”
“Ash.”  She put her spoon down and looked firmly at him.  “That’s the sort of face you’ve made whenever you were worried these past few months.”
“No, really, it’s not like that.  Just…I like the little shine to your fingernails.”  She stared at him.  “Really, I mean it.”
The stare down continued until Ash pointed at the mess Azurill was making – it was after that Misty decided he was being truthful.
The date went well.  Ash took her to see a research display and art gallery – she in turn surprised him by taking him to see a mini-Pokémon racecourse.
***
Evening came and the two friends were finishing two gelatos they’d gotten at the local fairground.  They leaned against the nearby park’s railing facing the setting sun.
“Whoa, we’ve got a great view.”
Ash paused in thought, finished his gelato, and looked around; no one was nearby.  “Hey Mist…a word?”
“Yeah?”
Ash had a deep breath before beginning.  “Misty, thank you for telling me how you feel, hearing that really touched me.  I honestly can’t word how grateful I am for all your support these past few months.  I’ve always valued you even when I didn’t know what it meant – probably wasn’t…mature enough to put it all together…”
“Ash…”
“And what I’ve put together is that: I love you too.  I’m…sorry if that was obvious.”
He heard her breathing slowly.  “Don’t say it like that….”
He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.  “Everyone else seems to think so.  I mean, I subconsciously asked you out; as a kid I was always jealous whenever you gave your attention to another guy…seems obvi-”  Misty cut him off by grabbing his hand.
There was a long pause before she spoke.  “I know more than anyone else how difficult it is to distinguish ‘like’ from ‘love.’  Just hearing you admit that to yourself is something special.  It’s easy to say like, and I would’ve accepted just that – to know the difference and say it, that’s bravery, Ash.  Don’t beat yourself up over whether it was obvious or not, only you could make that call.”  She squeezed his hand further, as if to imply she didn’t want to hear any objection.
Left speechless, Ash’s only reaction was to reach out and hug her firmly.  Loosening up a bit, the two caught eyes and without words, softly pressed lips for a simple yet electrifying kiss.  Ash felt all his anxieties, fear, and any other burden fade away.
“I love you,” said Misty.
Ash’s reply was without hesitation.  “I love you too.”
Change still happens in Ash’s life but he’d learn to accept them, adapt to them.  His relationship with Misty brought him immense happiness.  The fabled day of Brock’s Wedding soon came.  Ash felt strong feelings of affection as he followed Brock down the aisle with Misty in a white dress next to him.
“You look beautiful,” he whispered to her for the umpteenth time as they stood opposite each other at the altar.  Misty’s response was a blush, a wink, and held a finger to her lips to shush him.
“Y’know…I’m really happy to have met you,” Ash told her quietly at the reception as they sat together at a table.
“Me too, Ash…” she replied.  “Me too…”
“Yeah,” said Ash, squeezing her hands before leaning in close.  “It’s nice…’cuz I finally caught up.”
“What did you catch…?”
“My love for you.”  Misty smiled happily as they kissed happily once more.
Fin.

Author’s Note: Thank you all for reading!  That is the end of the story – I might honestly add on to this one day for the ending, but I felt things were dragging on and on and I didn’t want to overstuff this as a lot was going on as I brought Ash’s arc to its end.
This was originally supposed to show up during Pokeshipping Week this year but between the three previous chapters and writing for that (I still have the last three days to complete…) I just couldn’t and got writer’s burnout.  Hopefully you all enjoyed reading.
Note about this story: chapter one especially was inspired by real life, and as a lot of reviews I received for this indicated certainly struck a chord, which was the intention.  About four years after graduation, I began seeing old high school classmates’ LinkedIns and/or social media accounts and I was shocked by what I saw, so much had happened in the rough four years since high school.  It still is surprising to see what’s been happening.  From marriages, folks expecting kids, battles with personal demons, the death of friends and family members, to some hardcore travels across the seas for both vacation and work purposes.
Change is inherently a part of life of course and I accept that wholeheartedly.  I’m very happy for my cohorts but it made me think about how these sorts of changes would work on a fictional character.  Generally what I consume doesn’t dive deep into these things – I usually write Ash Ketchum as a sociable guy or one who doesn’t encounter radical change.  This time I decided to apply those feelings to him and make a story out of it.  Chapter 1-2 were derived from this and the rest worked itself out as I penned them both.

What’s the bad ass-est moment from any au? I love those moments
I wanna go more in-depth with my favorite moment of my break dance!au that I explained in a recent post. The one with Chloe and Goh finding out that Ash dance’s as a hobby.
The festival for Mew had majority of the people dressed in traditional Kimono’s or close to. So when Ash and his friends, that he made during his freestyle hang outs or whatever, showed up in the direct middle of the city and the city wide festival immediately caught mass attention. They commandeered a gazebo and the surrounding concrete platform in front of it. Not really paying attention to the surrounding people as they ‘set up shop’ if you could call it that.
They started dancing and joking around before Ash kind of took control and started a rhythm once he noticed a very large crowd were watching them. And how could they not once they were all dressed in black tight suits and clothes and resembled other Legendaries with mask’s, Ash was of course Lugia. There were two people dressed up as Mew of course, one shiny and one the normal pink Mew, but the really just followed Ash’s lead the majority of time.
They had fun for the major part of their dance out break. Like imagine all those cool dance scenes in those movies and just put those vibes into this scene and you basically got what I’m trying to explain right now. And gathered an absolutely massive crowd during it as well. Elders and adults were surprised, some not to please about it but the Officers wouldn’t do anything as they weren’t actually doing anything disturbing or disrupting the vendors, while the young adults to kids absolutely adored it. Absolutely captivated by the outfits, dancing, music, and mask’s.

Reactions to Deal Maker's Chapter 197
TL;DR - GoB and GoH arguing with each other. GoB warns Cale again. GoH tells Cale that GoB wants him under her control. Lock will be joining the gang in Aipotu. GoH supports Cale's slacker life dream.
The Ancient Gods Today was like an info dump about the gods.
God of Balance is always at odds with God of Chaos
God of Balance hates God of Hope the most because hope defies all balance and chaos
God of Hope is stronger than God of Balance
There are 5 ancient gods - balance, hope, chaos, and 2 unnamed ones
God of Hope did not want to be a god, but had no other choice.
Cale got a glimpse of God of Hope's human face, but no gender was mentioned.
There was a funny part when DA spoke again in excitement when he saw the two gods competing. 😂
DA: Woah. That's interesting. Cale: *frowns coz DA was ignoring him earlier* DA: Oh no! I unconsciously spoke out! Okay, bye! Haha- Water AP: That fool. Cale: *nods*
GoH told Cale that GoB was trying to actually put him under her control because GoB knew that Cale was a potential successor of GoH. And GoB hated GoH the most, right? There was also the fact that Cale could potentially become a god of quite a high rank, so GoB was watching him carefully.
GoB gave Cale a deadline for his decision in becoming a god, which is after his work in Aipotu. She left afterwards.
The Slacker Life Dream Another funny part of today's chapter was GoH supporting Cale's dream. GoH even warned him that becoming a god meant not being able to rest.
Cale pledged to himself not to become one then. He didn't want to be insidious like the Sealed God, or be overworked like GoD. He'd rather work under Alberu.
GoH's Solution GoH had another solution for Cale's problem. Unlike Xiaolen and Central Plains where there were worlds that could shoulder the counteracting weights, Aipotu had none because the world was dead, its world tree was gone, and the dragons there ditched their duty.
GoH said that when something disappeared, something always appeared to replace it. That was the law. So GoH told Cale to find the "Blue Wolf." The Blue Wolf was the king of beasts who existed before the ancient times and was capable of shouldering the counteracting weights for Aipotu.
Ooooh, Lock-centric arc soon! So Lock and Raon would be the two key people when Cale goes to Aipotu.
Ending Remarks The ending part was quite funny. Cale thought that he was just talking with the gods in the childhood bedroom of Blood Demon. Turns out he had actually fainted and was unconscious for 2 days. Which meant that when his short talk with the gods ended, he found himself lying on a bed and learning that 2 days had already passed. 🤣🤣🤣
How will Cale explain to Raon what happened? Anyway, now that 2 days had passed, Jungwon's reward would soon be revealed. Cale would also be leaving the Central Plains then. Ah, this murim arc that caused me so much pain with the MTL is finally coming to an end.

Pokemon Journeys Episode 118 Review
Tumblr media
Pokemon Journeys Episode 118. Let’s review:
For Ash’s first battle in the Masters Tournament and his first victory against a regional champion, how do things stack up? Hmm, pretty alright, but not toooo perfect.
Okay, so getting the small bad parts out of the way first, I did not like how Dracovish went down. The dude has shown to be an absolute tank all season and he gets taken out after one move collision with Metagross (which didn’t look like it did anything to him) and a single Heavy Slam from Aggron. Does Ash’s Pokemon here just share some kind of fodder card they secretly pass around each other? Could explain why Lucario wasn’t that interesting before his Mega Stone or why Gengar kept jobbing until he learned to Gigantamax. (and replace Water Gun with Hydro Pump already!) Same complaint goes for Cradily as well. Yeah, the set up for its defeat was nice (which I’ll get into later), but it only got taken down by a single Iron Tail. For how much time it stalled, it should be to almost complete health due to Ingrain, so it would’ve made more sense if it took Pikachu multiple Iron Tails to finish the job.
Those are my only complaints for the battle as a whole, though. Everything else was pretty great imo. Fun to see Gengar’s efforts of learning Will-O-Wisp get proper payoff and many of the strategies used were on-point, like Dazzling Gleam being used as a shield multiple times and Pikachu trapping Cradily’s tentacles with Electroweb after baiting them to a Power Whip. Nice to see Steven battle as well, as like many champions, we don’t really get a lot of that as a whole in the anime. The big finish of the whole battle was incredible. 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt being used as a way to both block Metagross’ attacks and leave him vulnerable afterwards was absolute genius. And was Iron Tail being used as a finishing blow supposed to be a reference to the fact that Pikachu learned that move in Hoenn? If so, then nice touch!
Outside from the battle, of course, Team Rocket was fun as usual, it was awesome to see Iris hang out with Goh and Hop and cheer on Ash with them, the other Masters 8 members’ commentary was nice (especially seeing Leon and Cynthia become more interested in fighting Ash themselves), it was a blast seeing all of Ash’s Pokemon together at Oak’s Lab cheering him on with Oak, Delia, and... Tracey, and all the Hoenn cameos were not only great, but impressive! Like really, who would’ve guessed that the anime would’ve remembered the existence of Jimmy, Kelly, Kate, and Gym Guide Dan again?
Still, wish there could’ve been more with the cameos, like have them react to what’s going on instead of just Ash’s friends, family, and Pokemon. Like maybe have someone like Birch say something like “wow, who’d thought Ash would be fighting our champion?” or something like that. And I swear Tracey’s cameo only supports my theory that he and Ash deliberately try to avoid each other whenever Ash comes back home. And does anyone else wish there was an actual curry party after the tournament that Goh and Iris mentioned? Could’ve been a great way to have some interaction between Ash and the Master 8 members that couldn’t make the semifinals.
Oh well, I’d still give this episode an 8/10. Pretty great, just not that perfect. And next episode will be a proper resolution to- (SLAM)

I wonder when they knew journeys would be the last Ash series
Tumblr media
Just something I thought about when I remember everyone arguing/going back and forth about if this was Ash’s last series
And since it is his last series I wonder if this was always the plan or was it a decision that came later?
As in, when journeys first started some saw the traveling to every region/world traveling aspect as a sign it was the last series for Ash
Some saw the PWC/WCS as a sign
Some saw it when Ash was seeing so many of his old companions
And others by the time it was the Masters 8 and most were sure Ash would win they felt there was nowhere else to go
Nothing has come out yet officially
But my thoughts are that they didn’t know when Journeys first started
Maybe they thought about it since it would be after SM and Ash won the league but they didn’t make journeys in mind that this would be Ash’s finale series
I don't know how legit you can take it
But I saw something that implied that as the games got more and more nonlinear the anime team had a harder time making the series
This could explain the school idea for Sun and Moon and the world journey for Journeys since the gen 7 games broke the badge formula and Galar put a different approach to it
So if they think it’s too hard to make a series with Ash as the games get less linear then maybe Gen9/ Scarlet and Violet was the straw
As SV is very open world and not linear
So when they started to brainstorm for Gen 9 maybe they truly got stuck on what to do with Ash
As for the other “signs” like companions
Maybe by the time of Serena's appearance we can perhaps think they thought about it
But Korinna was probably just a nice cameo from a gym leader people would have a connection to and does make it seem more like a world tournament as it went from mostly Kanto trainers to Kalos Gym leader
And then afterward with Iris, Dawn, etc it was mostly just ideas and other stuff and didn't play too much into a final series
Like Iris being champion probably wasn’t because Ash was leaving but maybe they just wanted her in the M8 over Alder as the we’re going to do all champions and take advantage of the character they actually developed already that became champion in the games over Alder who had the occasional episode in BW
Dawn was because of Gen 4 remakes clearly but maybe her final appearance to watch the finals was a finale thing
All in all I don't know and no one truly does unless they explain why
But just from how I perceived the process of Journeys from beginning to end
If anything they might have thought of passing the torch from Ash to Goh due to Goh being a co-lead but since Goh was a co-lead they still wanted Ash to be there which might say that even if no ideas they still wanted Ash there
Then as it went on, and maybe some of the complaints and critiques of how they were handling JN in the beginning really took a hold that
When they were doing the near complete rework of JN, that Goh got Project Mew, Chloe had her Eevee storyline, etc they maybe had a clearer vision for the series
So they had a clearer plan and was doing well for a good stretch of episodes, people were excited by Iris and Gary and that kept up for Sophocles, Clemont and Bonnie, Serena and etc
Then what happened?
I think it's a mix of things one of the more glaring ones is the animating problems they were having as with all the recaps and such they had
I think the first real hint in hindsight is the two kids calling him champion in Alola, as before it wouldn't have been mentioned as it wasn't brought up in the previous Alola episode with his classmates but it was brought up here and I think that was the writers saying ‘ok were not trying to minimize it anymore Ash had a major accomplishment and he's a champion and has battled champions (Iris) and will work his way up to be amongst the champions like Lance and Leon
But I do just generally think while doing the planning and etc for the Masters 8 they thought that this is a nice climax for Ash and to end it here
Not necessarily that they couldn't move past this point as SV has a set up to justify Ash’s strength and still have him lose and learn and etc
Him beating all the champions including the best in the world and then going back to gyms would be a little weird sure
Plus if you already kinda believed they thought about it for Gen 5 since it was soft reboot, and Gen 7 with the different formula then this is a better ending than if they ended him in Gen 4 or 6
And just other factors that probably had a small percentages in the grand scheme but could add up to a decent chunk, like Ash’s Japanese voice actress is getting older, the time window from game announcement to the anime having to “adapt” it, the general viewership not as high, older fans and younger fans wants clashing at times, series direction etx
I do just think this is a high to go out on

Pokemon Journeys Episode 117
This episode brought me to actual real-life tears. I loved how this battle got underway quickly with Excadril versus Gastrodon. Seeing Ash get super excited about seeing Excadrill again was really touching, considering he got to see firsthand some of Iris' initial struggles with the Drill King Pokemon. I really liked how Iris chose her starter Pokemon here even though it's not a dragon type or dragon-like (the closes connection you can make is the fact that it's Japanese Doryuzu has Ryu which means dragon in it). It was also super cool to see Goh explain to Hop that Ash also traveled with Iris throughout the Unova region, with Hop once again realizing Ash knows all of the Masters 8. Team Rocket proved to be really entertaining this episode by finally recognizing Iris and then deciding to root for her! But onto the actual battle itself. I was super happy to see Excadrill take the win over Gastrodon with OHKO moves thanks to Iris believing in him even when up against not only a massive type advantage in Gastrodon, but dealing with Cynthia's supreme usage of Gastrodon's physiology (being able to have attacks bounce right off), and the use of Rain Dance and Muddy Water. Iris' speech during this battle about how much she appreciated Cynthia's prior training with her back in Unova was really touching, as were the cameos. It was nice to see Alder, Stephan, Burgundy, Georgia Bianca, Drayden, and even Trip. That being said...where the hell was Cilan!? I'm sure he'll probably turn up for one of Ash's battles, but admittedly, I'm really upset that he wasn't there in a cameo for Iris, who is also one of his friends. Also, some people have mentioned the fact that a lot of the cameos seemed more Ash-focused, to which I agree. While thankfully, a lot of those cameos were people who participated in either the Don Clubsplosion tournaments or the Pokemon Junior World Cup Tournament alongside Ash and Iris, it would've been nice to see the Elder from the Village of Dragons or Iris' childhood friend Shannon because this was, in the end, Iris battling. Of course, Cynthia quickly turned the tables against Iris with her very powerful Milotic (which sidenote for me in my playthroughs) was always the Pokemon I struggled against over her Garchomp. That Hydro Pump on Excadrill was absolutely brutal. And major props to Cynthia for not flinching as that very brutal attack whizzed right past her. Then, of course, there was the Dragonite versus Milotic beatdown. Poor Dragonite, at least it got some hits in with Thunder Punch but that Iron Head to the head was brutal. Hop and Ash being a little intimidated by the performance was a neat touch. This brings me to a cool contrast point I noticed in the battle. Whenever Iris secured a victory over one of Cynthia's Pokemon, she was extremely exuberant and celebrated loudly and proudly with her Pokemon. This was very adorable, and I really how it symbolized Iris embracing being a child more, especially how she often used to chide Ash for getting super excited, calling him a kid to the ire of many people who watched the BW anime. Kids should definitely feel okay acting their age, and I'm glad she was able to feel like she could do it on the world stage. Also, it harkens back to her champion battle in BW2, where she talks about Pokemon battles being fun, and I like how even though this Masters 8 match was a serious battle, I loved that Iris still allowed herself those moments of joy for getting a win on a very renowned opponent like Cynthia. But then you had Cynthia, who maintained rather cold professionalism throughout the battle. She still showed warmth when Iris talked, and she was rather poetic with how she called forth her Pokemon. But you could tell she was all business. This is rather consistent from the snippets of battles we saw of her back in DP, from the Paul wipeout to the elite 4 challenge matchups that were broadcast in Pokemon Centers that Ash, Brock, and Dawn. She's pretty much all business when it comes to battling which is cool to see. I liked how she refers to herself as just another trainer on the battlefield rather than talking about being a champion like Leon, Lance, Diantha, and Iris all referenced. It's cools to see how different champions approach battling and how they view their titles. Then the final matchup of Haxorus vs Garchomp. It was a really interesting choice to pull out the organ music for Garchomp's music. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of that moment personally. I get why they did it as Cynthia's Garchomp is infamous among the fandom but I felt that part to be not needed. But other than that moment the final bout was amazing. Haxorus was giving Garchomp a run for her money and I'm rather confident that if Cynthia hadn't of used mega evolution Garchomp would've fallen. The fact that Haxorus still went toe to toe with Mega Garchomp with Dynamaxing or Z-moves was amazing. I also really liked the part where Iris showed off her dragon powers. But ultimately it would be Cynthia who would win after a devastating final clash between draco meteor and dragon pulse. It was really touching to see how much respect Cynthia had for Iris' performance. I honestly started tearing up when Iris told Haxorus, Excadrill and Dragonite that she loved them. And then my tears really started flowing when Iris met up with Ash and she ended up bawling her eyes out. I really felt for Iris in that moment. I know some fans called her childish in this moment and once again I have to remind folks that fictional children are allowed to be children. And honestly, I wouldn't look down at a grown adult for crying after a close loss in front of the world. It's rough. I'm glad Ash (and Goh) was there at the moment. It would've been nice to see Ash give her a pat on the shoulder or a hug, but still him just being there means a lot. Now it's finally time to watch Steven and Ash duke it out. I'm excited to see what this next episode brings.
