>"Challo, challo, you have work to do, we'll see each other" he said to his friends before they left, turning to you, and put each arm into your shoulders to hug you both tenderly, his hair tickled your face as he held you close, you and Gayatri held hands on Pavitr's back

No thoughts, just Quaritch fathering spider HC's.

Instinctually putting a hand on his shoulder or keeping him pressed against him in any potentially dangerous situation. Spider used to protest it, claiming he was fine, but in time he grew used to it, liked it, liked being protected as if he was something to be cared for; but before that, he would throw Quaritch's touch off like it burned and he would flee from his presence if he tried to guard him and Quaritch would just try harder, he had to, he couldn't not protect him.

working more and more Na'vi into their conversation, mostly terms of endearment, and familial possession (my son, my spider, my idiot). they have fluent conversations and use it to shit talk the RDA staff cause they're the only ones fluent/close to fluent. (spider is so proud, and Quaritch loves to see how happy it makes the boy to use his true native tongue)

anxious dad hovering, all the time, it never stops. Spiders climbing up on something, Quaritch is most likely off to the side, sweating bullets. Spiders squaring up to an avatar or to one of Pandora's many creatures, Quaritch is 3 steps behind him, ready to scoop him up. in the meeting room he keeps close to spider, making sure no one says anything to him, messes with him, makes sure he doesn't break anything or cause trouble. at first spider thinks its annoying, then really entertaining.

after a singular rough ride on an ikran, Quaritch insists on holding onto spider at all times, especially while in the air. spider uses it as a time to sunbathe (much like a cat in their grumpy owners arms) and take a little nap (he feels safe and content)

as they get more comfortable with each other, spider claims to be 'tired' during more boring parts of a walk or hike so that way Quaritch will carry him. he likes to be up on his shoulders, likes to see the world as the na'vi do. He normally ends up sleeping (kid can drop into a nap in like 5 seconds and wake back up in half that. he has very feline habits) or nearly break his dads neck with how fucking wild he gets. (Quaritch will never admit it, but holding spider makes him feel whole in a way that nothing else will ever manage to do)

Quaritch kinda just formed a habit of carrying Spider like a toddler or sack of potatoes, especially when they had to basically drug him to keep him from ripping himself, the lab, and everyone in it to shreds. that habit never died, sometimes he just carries him around (when he's throwing a teenage temper tantrum) and no one dares to say a thing; they see them in the halls, sitting together in the rec room or at meetings, out on the land, it just become a part of everyday life. (spider will totally do that thing where he just drops all muscle tone in his upper body and just flops back, much to Quaritch's horror every. damn. time)

He likes when Quaritch (who's always saying its a rats nest, cause it, in fact, is since the kid barely showers and never really does anything with it) does his hair.

if Spider's doing something he shouldn't, he'll just pick the kid up by the armpits and walk away with his arms fully extended, dangling Spider like 4 feet off the ground (he has a scrunch instinct, he curls his legs up like the feral little bastard he is, so in all likely hood its more like 2 or 3)

Quaritch, whose only really used to his na'vi body, is convinced that spider is fragile, like a paper cut will kill him since he's "just a little human", so any injury gets spider fawned after.

Quaritch is the only one allowed to question spider, especially out in the field. He doesn't let his men say a thing to the boy.

Mother hen to the max, have I made that clear enough

if and when the Sully's and Quaritch make-up, the custody battle is fucking gnarly. quaritch is possessive of his kid, especially when he learns how he was treated before.

Prowler Pavitr <3<3

Here's Pavitr's design in my Prowler Pavitr au akjdskjdskjkskdsk! It's my au where Pavitr is a fallen hero who used to be Spider-Man and becomes the Prowler, fueled by rage against a world and a system that forced him to pretend at perfection and then only hurt him and the people he loves.

I love him so much,, I have so much stuff in progress about him rn (working on the fics too). Gonna have chaipunk front and center, and like four separate plot arcs, I'm so insane about this au actually -

Anyway here's some infodump about his design inspirations and symbolism I put in it, I loveeeee talking abt him:

Hair -

Okay so this is after some time, like a couple months since Pav became the Prowler, and he's grown his hair out a bit now. It's kind of a mix of rejection of the "masculine" standard of short cropped hair by flaunting his longer curls that he's always been proud of and even had to grow to love He also dyes his hair purple! Bc he didn't wanna cut his hair but he wanted to do something to set himself apart from his old identity and also he's literally an impulsive 17-18 year old and wanted to do something that felt like owning his own self and asserting autonomy over his body etc etc

Something Borrowed -

The tie that he's using to tie back his hair is his original blue headband!! It doesn't go with his outfit at all but It's the original blue headband that Maya Aunty got for him all those years ago that he's been wearing forever and it snapped and broke in the battle that preceded what happened to her, and he still keeps it and ties his hair back with it instead The nosering (nath) used to be Gayatri's, they used to try out her jewelry on him and he loved that one so much she gifted it to him, and since he's basically left his old life and gone no contact with her it's all he has left of Gaya too

Main Outfit -

His jacket is loosely based on Krrish's leather jacket from the Bollywood movie series that's about a superhero named Krrish. I just think it has the dramatique and vibe Pav would like He binds his chest bc he still hadn't had top surgery but he's way more open about it, with the binding showing through the neck of the jacket now where he would have never dared to hint at it before,,, another thing about how he doesn't care about people's opinions and perceptions and standards anymore, he wants to say fuck you as much to everything in the system as he can and also piss people off while he's at it and a trans antihero/villain is a surefire way to do that. His dhoti is basically a dhoti pant, modified a bit bc i liked it

He has payals on his feet that make a faint chhan chhan noise when he approaches which has creepiness and cuteness potential imo I basically turned the prowler logo into his dhoti belt buckle askjdsjk

It's also slightly modified to mimic a trishul or even a diya shape, up for interpretation either way, bc trishuls are a symbol of Shiva, god of destruction, and diyas are a symbol of light in the darkness and the need to find it Also the chain around the dhoti at his hips is both a reference to decorative dhoti chain accessories and the lil things on it are his modified grenades that he uses for arson, bc Prowler Pav is big on arson and murder ajajsjsj

Prowler Claws -

His bangles/claws were hands down my favourite part to design!!

So his claws are of course his original spiderman bangles modified into the prowler claws But i based them on three weapons, each of which means something interesting for Pavitr

The first is bagh nakh. Literally translates to "tiger claws", famously used in a legend of Shivaji Maharaj They usually curl into the palm instead of going between the fingers like they do for Pav, but they're basically metal claws wound secretly around your hand for a sneak attack It's associated with bravery and righteous rage bc of Shivaji Maharaj but it's also really associated with stealth and an attack from unexpected quarters, being stabbed from a side no one saw coming. Which. Pavitr. The perfect hero, becoming the Prowler. Come on

Second is the trishul, aka trident That's the reason there are three prongs to his claw Trishul is the symbol of the god Shiva, and as i mentioned he's the god of destruction, as in he's part of the main triumvirate of gods who focus on creation preservation and destruction He also is really really associated with rage, especially destructive rage; he has a whole dance called the tandava for his rage which is a Huge Deal I can't stress this enough And because Prowler Pav is a being fuelled by rage against a system that has hurt so many including him that he wants to destroy and see burned, it is perfect for him The trishul is also seen as a symbol of goddess Kali, who's similar in the destruction goddess aspect and also is literally an embodiment of rage and violence that cannot be controlled which is more the theme I started out with, but whichever you notice first, it works either way. There's a whole myth in fact where Shiva had to lie beneath her feet to stop her destructive rampage before it ended the world.

And lastly, the urumi, aka the whip sword from Kerala Basically each of Prowler Pav's claws extend into whip swords when he does the swing/slash/whip motion This is really interesting at least to me, bc it means 2 things: 1) Pav still remembers and is actively using some of his skillset from swinging around as Spiderman. He does use the urumis to curl around distant objects and swing too, and they are very lethal weapons when used right, and that use requires a lot of skill, huge parts of which he built up by his experience 2) This is a weapon which requires an unimaginable amount of control, precision and strength And Pav is doing all that So all of his actions, every movement, is very deliberate and thought out. He's not doing any of this - turning away from heroism, becoming the Prowler, using these lethal weapons - on a whim. They are all very very deliberate.

Also one more thing - the blades of his claws are all retractable ofc But they are not protected or anything They slice up his palms and the in-betweens of his fingers whenever he uses them,, especially when he uses them as urumis And it would be so easy to fix the design or make gloves or smth so they don't do that But he doesn't ever do it He could make it so his hands don't bleed on using his claws But he doesn't want to

He is an angsty boyo...

Mask -

The eyes are ofc like the prowler mask design except I made them more curved and curled at the end bc that's a kind of shape often seen in traditional art of the headdress of Kali, goddess of uncontrollable violence as I've said before Then the part between them is meant to be based off a third eye, which is something both Shiva and Kali have. It opens at the height of their rage, it's meant to symbolise destructive fury for them both Although it's also used in an all seeing context otherwise but a lot of whitewashed bullshit is also there that dilutes sources to find connotations His theyyam-based tusks from his Spider-Man mask, I wanted to keep

The shape below the eyes is based off the noses in masks in various regional Indian tribal and traditional masks,,, a lot of them tend to have a very distinctive curly nose shape that I wanted to keep, a lot of these masks also depict rage or are intimidating and are very emotive And then ofc you have the bottom of the mask, I made the curved-ish cut based on the peacock-feather-y shape i was using but it's also based on the general shape of Kali's lips in traditional art where she has her tongue out, it's a big symbol of her rage and rampage I tried to put the tongue too but it looked awkward and honestly i thought it would be cooler to jsut leave the bottom half of the mask open and you can see Pav's mouth and his expressions through it a bit instead, in the spirit of that And also it's based a little bit off Krrish's mask, you can never escape the Krrish design Also there's the lil teeth. Those are often used in art for demons and animals,, and Prowler Pav is very cat coded in his behaviour in general tbh. He's like if an orange cat's fur got burned to black.

Anyway, so yeah, that's him!

more self-indulgence!!

one part headcanons one part this is just how they are in my AU probably—uh... watching a parade? idk actually. i just. drew them.

because... i felt like it.... there are still missing characters because spider-man has five million supporting characters which is truly both a blessing and a curse (also like, i didn't include any foes or villains lmao but rest assured at least two of peter's rogues are queer...)

i decided this is like 2019 or something for?? no real reason other than i guess a lot of the adults finally being out or whatever... idk... that would make peter and his friends around 30-32 on average (well no felicia would be like 34) so still youngish but also definitely Adults™...

the kids are meant to be late teens early 20s but drawing that very specific age group is like, way difficult... also all the youths are short compared to peter's friend group of exclusively 5'9" to 6' people XD (well gwen and harry are shorter so i guess it's fine XD)

some of these are more firm than others. like. should randy be straight? i dunno. is aunt may straight or are all the alive parkers bisexual lmao? idk. what about literally all of the teenagers except andi? i have no clue and a lot of the stuff with them is waaaay later and I am not anywhere close to, so i just put them all in rainbows cause why not! but i do think janine is a token heterosexual in this instance lmao—see, not ALL of my AU versions of characters are queer, just most of them

also i'm going to put a few close-ups/crops below the cut just because it's hard to see them in the lineup without zooming in or w/e

obviously felicia and peter are bisexual and flash is... probably also bi? but i'm really still not sure... but she is trans :) and they're probably poly together but even after writing man-spider i'm genuinely... not actually sure if felicia is peter and flash's girlfriend or not 😂 they've got SOMETHING going on with the three of them but what it is, idk... i think peter is definitely polyamorous regardless, it's just a question of whether their relationship is or not.

red and blue hearts on peter's cheek technically poly but double as spider-man LMAO—plus earplugs cause pride is loud…

obviously felicia's also into leather and bdsm and stuff (and so is peter...) so i included some little hints of that... but didn't bother including any of the kink flags cause there's only so much i can fit tbh a collar works well enough.

i made his tie teal satin because of the teal ribbon for sexual assault awareness. but just a hint, cause i don't think he would be comfortable being public about that. he's out and proud as a bi jewish dude with a trans wife but he's really not out about being a survivor to anyone except a few very close and trusted friends/family. similar for kaine. so a teal necktie is just something for him. he's been through a lot in his life but he's happy 🙂

anyway i think i made flash's hair shorter than it's supposed to be here but it's fine, maybe she got a trim or something

supportive aunts!! i already established like 3 years ago or something in some offhand line that MJ's aunt is an Eccentric Lesbian (huh wonder where she got that from—) so i'm sticking with the lesbian spinster aunt there. I don't know about Aunt May though. I always kind of waffled there on whether she's like straight, or bi... cause I like the thought of old ladies in love. I think maybe they have some kind of queerplatonic thing going on or something... either way she is proud of her boy :>

MJ I never know so I just go with the umbrella—she's Queer. What kind? Gender? Sexuality? Yes, (relatable)

What matters is that she is always Glamorous.

i don't have any deep reason for making Glory bi, i just thought it would be fun, and also cause I like Glory/MJ... they are so fun... they compliment each other so much... I know that can be a just straight gal pals thing but listen, i like it

Gwen is the lesbian who's a teeny tiny bit bisexual but mostly into women. Also: not dead. lmao.

Harry is 100% gay (and divorced) but I still don't know when/if he ever comes out. Liz will def be out as a lesbian by the late 20-teens though cause I think she starts exploring her sexuality w/in 3-4 years after she and harry get divorced... also cause i thought it would be funny if liz and lily (who i did not draw) hooked up LOL

i didn't draw the babies because i ran out of steam for that but they would be... what... i think normie might actually be in like 5th grade or something at this point now that i think about it... stanley would be like... 5 though

Hobie is bisexual almost entirely because when I read the newspaper strip and the prowler showed up, he and Peter were giving me Flirtation Vibes so he is bi, and also punk because I enjoy the aesthetic Spider-Punk has going on, so even though that's not going to be a thing in this universe, I still like to make some little nods to it. also it just feels like a fun combo. he's a kind of alt guy, he's not very straight, he's not very normal, he's had issues in his life trying to figure out who he wants to be... it feels like it just fits well... i like it

he gets MORE punk AFTER college and shaves half his head etc. (instead of having his twist-out), which is funny to me but you know, it takes time to figure shit out sometimes... i didn't draw his girlfriend Mindy (wife? idk if/when they get married in this AU...) cause like i said, omg, so many people to draw... also idk if she's like, straight or what. probably? there's gotta be SOME straight people XD how does she feel about hobie's fro-hawk...? hmm

ah, cain and abel ben (and janine)

Ben is bisexual... like Peter. They both prefer women to some extent, but they have slightly different tastes (...well maybe not SO different) and Ben is more uh, subby? LOL—at least with Janine. Switchy. Unlike Peter, Ben has/had? a crush on Robbie LMAO but that's more of a like, mentor/mentee admiration kind of thing... not like a "i wanna make out with you" situation. Robbie is far too old for him. and also happily married.

In my notes I have that Ben was ofc also abused by Warren but a lot of his was medical and psychological (some physical as well), but... i would think there is an undercurrent of medical sexual abuse there nonetheless esp as much of this w/ warren hinges on sexual power dynamics and control, but i won't get into that here as it's partly still being developed and I don't want to get TOO heavy on this post lol

Kaine is, like I mentioned, a little complex and i'm not 100% sure about (also aracely painted his nails) I think that he's ~bi/pan in general? but maybe not? could be only into men? or not into anyone at all. but the thing about Kaine in this universe is that he's got a difficult relationship with sex and sexuality because of what he was put through by Warren, so while I don't necessarily think he's asexual I do think in this universe he's a little bit sex-averse or sex-repulsed and has a difficult time dealing with that stuff. He also just really desperately wants to be loved and he doesn't care who as long as it's someone, which is toxic in a lot of ways i think... being around Aracely would imo help him a lot in coming to terms with having like, normal, platonic, non-sexual, non-romantic, healthy (or at least healthier) interpersonal relationships, and understanding things like that... idk where he's at by 2019 though, mental health-wise... but yeah i wasn't really sure what colors or patterns to put on his clothes so i went with the dark purple and gray tones since they are the kind of common recurring colors on a lot of ace-spec flags including repulsion and related stuff.

as a sidenote as someone who has a kind of aro and ??? relationship w/ my own bisexuality etc. (idk if i consider myself ace necessarily but it's not totally irrelevant) i also don't want to like, Just Make Him Ace because trauma (but obv betty is aro at least) cause it's not that simple etc etc etc but also there absolutely are people who consider themselves asexual from trauma or for whom it's informed by trauma (though trauma would inform any aspect of interpersonal relationships, of course, and for kaine it does)... idk idk kaine is always like, much to think about for me. He's def not like... "normal" in the eyes of cishet patriarchal culturally christian society. I mean he's disabled for one thing,

ofc peter has many similar traumas esp after meeting kaine and HE'S def not asexual (though peter is also disabled)

idk idk i am always thinking about it and never quite sure. kaine has a very complex and largely negative relationship with his body.

i was also considering genetic mosaicism (46,XY/47,XXY) but i did not include any intersex colors etc. because a lot of this wasn't fully hammered out yet when i drew this. I think Kaine is probably intersex though. It's not necessarily obvious to anyone who looks at him, but it's also not something that comes as a huge surprise to him.

obvs the tiny hint of a teal ribbon is the same as for Peter, sexual assault/abuse awareness, and it's small and easily hidden. probably was given to him by someone trying to be supportive (ben and janine maybe? idk)—i mean ALL of it is from other people really. the sticker on the noise cancelling headphones? def from Aracely or someone else. his presence in the first place? dragged out of the house by a 19 year old girl. he didn't even have time to do his hair and he would rather be drinking coffee in a dark room alone :/

Anyway, Janine. Less complicated.

I decided at some point Janine is straight (but not narrow, as they say) so she gets an ally shirt lol. Like Peter and Kaine, I put her in some teal including a little ribbon bow on some satin ballet flats—obviously her history as a sexual abuse survivor etc. is very, very public in contrast to peter and kaine (and arguably ben, though i don't think he necessarily conceptualizes his abuse by warren in the same way, in part because it was very medicalized) but... it's not like she would want to draw a lot of attention to that. but i also do just like teal so i think it looks nice.

like those are just genuinely cute shoes 😂 but also it's to tie it all together.

i really don't... feel like i know enough about them to figure out sexualities or if any genders are involved, and I'm a million years away from including them in any fics so a lot of that stuff simply has not been built out right now cause finer details aren't relevant to me yet (like. i'm in 2007 rn? miles is like... 8. lmao), so I just put them in some fun rainbow-y stuff. teens like going to pride and wearing rainbows right??? i mean i did.

i'm SURE miles and ganke have got something going on i just don't know What Exactly. nerdy friends...? nerdy boyfriends?? something else??? miles is wearing a tracksuit to hide his spider-man costume lol.

aracely is an enigma, i don't think anyone knows what's going on with her tbh. she is there to have candy thrown at her. she seems to like boys at least a little though.

i actually do know what's up with Andi cause she's actually supposed to first appear in 200...8? when she's like. 10. she is trans, and she is also why Flash was able to accept herself more and also why Flash transitioned. Flash wanted to be a good role model to help Andi feel good about herself and to not make her feel like there was something wrong with her, and then later re: transitioning, Flash saw how happy Andi was and wanted to also... be happy like that even though she was scared. and Andi herself really was (will be, idk i never know what tense to use for this stuff) helped a lot by Flash trying to self-improve, by having a supportive babysitter, and a dad who loves her, and so on and so forth... makes a big difference!

Andi and Flash are kind of intentional contrasts here in that, where Flash took until her late 20s to really fully be able to accept herself, Andi is the kid who goes on puberty blockers in high school and knew right away she wasn't what everyone said she was. (Flash had like, hints of that, but really didn't even realize until around ~19 years old and wasn't able to act on it for like... 9 years whereas Andi just really got motoring lol)

As far as Betty! I wasn't sure about her at first but I was chatting with Kita and I was like, thinking about her relationships and stuff and thinking, you know, she seems kinda aro... and then i was like... I can just do that. If I want. So I did. so now Betty is aromantic (at least, in my little alternate universe) and ALSO bisexual 😂 Peter's social circle is just a bunch of quirky bisexuals. bi4bi4bi

also dolled the fuck up. Betty said "overdressed? i don't know her. a pearl necklace goes with everything." (...😜)

I also am not sure about Randy (he also just has not come up yet i guess...) but I was thinking, you know, IDK, maybe he's straight as well. two whole straight people. i know he's dated a couple of girls in 616 (...i mean... so have most of the male characters lol) including like, Norah... but I'm not 100% sure what I would do there. I did end up making him a little bit of a hipster 😂 he's probably like... heteroflexible or smth... 🤔

Maybe Randy is ALSO bisexual??? or queer of some flavor.............. at least seems to KNOW about community stuff

idek what the hell is going on with these four but Robbie and JJJ sure do run a bisexual-ass newspaper (...well now that i think about it peter doesn't technically work for them anymore by 2019 but i'm sure he drops the occasional photo) (still a lot of bisexuals)

jk jk there are plenty of other employees of presumably various sexualities including straight ones AND gay ones (probably?) but like, betty, glory, ben and peter are all bi here which struck me as amusing. Two 60-something year old men supportive by way of having a bunch of homos working at their newspaper. Also because it's funny to me to have Jameson be actually very chill about The Queers. something something "you don't tell me what to do in my private life, and i don't tell you what to do in yours!"

Karlach noticed that the Shadow Cursed Lands are especially hard on Astarion. Not because he minds never seeing the sun—that is something he loves to complain about but that doesn't actively bother him—but because he keeps going hungry. None of the wildlife here can sustain him and Karlach knows that he's too proud to ask for a meal every night.

Or at all, that is.

This, of course, leads to Astarion being weaker and slower in combat, his movements sluggish and his steps bordering on stumbles, almost as if he's drunk. It had to come bite them in the ass eventually and Karlach realizes too late that maybe tiptoeing around Astarion too much isn't the right strategy when it comes to feeding.

Giving him time is good. She knows that. She knows it's the right thing. But him going hungry for days on end and then almost dying because of it, that's simply not alright. Karlach will not allow it to happen again.

She's so relieved that Wyll and her are both there when push comes to shove while they're fighting that fucked up drider and his crew. Karlach isn't exactly scared of spiders, but she's also not terribly fond of them and this huge dude who looks like some sort of fucked up centaur is not doing it for her at all.

Especially not when she saw him trying to slash Astarion into tiny little, undead pieces.

After the fight she hoists him up to carry him, putting his arms around her neck while holding up his knees in a very limp piggyback style. He weighs way too little, that twig of a man.

She can feel his breath tickle the side of her neck and Karlach sighs into the shadows as she carries him, wondering when her stupid dick will finally get over the fact that she won't be getting any action any time soon. Astarion almost died and her skin is on fire just because he's breathing on her neck.

For fuck's sake, Cliffgate, get your priorities straight.

"Hey, Fangs", she mumbles, turning her head as far back as she can so she doesn't have to talk too loudly. Astarion mumbles something unintelligible and his lips move against her skin.

She's so normal about all of this.

"You can feed on me, if you'd like. Right now, I mean. Get some of that strength back."

Karlach knows that some people are really into the whole blood drinking thing and she won't kinkshame anyone, but for her it's just offering a sandwich to someone who's been starving for a long time and well. She doesn't mind any accompanying pain. She wonders if her blood tastes weird because it's not pumped through her body by an actual heart but by a machine.

"I'm fine", Astarion sniffs. Karlach snorts.

"Stop being so difficult about this. I know you're hungry as fuck. Just do it already."

There's a pause and then she can feel Astarion's arms tighten around her as he pulls himself up a little bit to get a better angle on her throat. Karlach cocks her head to the side a little to give him better access. Then his teeth find purchase and he starts sucking. Hard.

Karlach grits her teeth through the pain and the wooziness accompanying the process. Astarion drinks and drinks, his gulps getting greedier with each second and Karlach wonders if he'll stop on his own accord or if she'll have to stop him before she passes out in the middle of this cursed landscape.

Astarion's arms shift one of his hands comes to rest on her chest, right above her infernal engine. If Karlach had a heart, it would beat so fucking fast right now. This feels less like a necessary grip to hold onto her and more like a hug. Astarion isn't really the hugging type, though. So maybe this is all wishful thinking. After what feels like forever Astarion detaches from Karlach's neck and he's breathing hard when he does. Karlach wants to ask if he's alright, if he feels any better, when his tongue darts out to lick off any remaining blood drops off the side of her neck. She makes a sound at the back of her throat and the flames that always flicker over her skin flare for a second.

Yup. No big deal. She's so, so brave about all of this.

"Feeling any better?", she asks and her voice sounds as if she ate three pounds of chalk. Great. She'll have to go jerk off in the bathtub later. Again.

"Much better", he says, his voice also hoarse. Then, very quietly: "Thank you, darling."

"Don't mention it. And—uh. Just. Whenever you need it, yeah?"

His grip around her tightens some more.

"This is a gift", Astarion mumbles. "I won't forget it."

I can see Spider being taken to the Capitol and tortured like Peeta was in Hunger Games 3, it reminds me of Spider being interrogated by Ardmore.

Hey everybody remember the Hunger Games Au i wrote up back in November? I needed to watch the final movie but then I got bronchitis (that took me two months to recover from) and it was also Christmas at the time and I really didn't feel like watching the child murder movies. But I never forgot about this and I finally got around to watching the final movie! So without further ado let's wrap this up.

To the question of what Spider and Kiri would have shown off in individual training, I feel like Kiri would have purposely tanked her's just for fun not even for strategy. She'd see the whole thing as stupid plus she knows her abilities so she's got nothing to prove. the gamemakers though can see what shes doing and give her a 9 to make her more of a target. I can see Spider pulling a Katniss and shooting an arrow right at the gamemakers to make them pay attention then bowing out. Quaritch is only half pissed at him. The other part is so proud. He's even more proud when Spider is awarded an 11.

In interviews they're both just kinda dicks lol. Spider taunts the whole crowd, talks mad shit on Snow, and heckles the fuck out of Flickerman. Kiri is similar just way more sarcastic and petty. So Snow was definitely super pissed when these two won the game.

Moving on to the ending.

I've tossed around a lot of idea's in my head for who gets captured and I had almost settled on it being Neytiri, Ronal and Paz, but that was mainly because I didn't want to hurt any of the kids especially Spider (I hurt that kid enough in Cabin and all I want is good things for him. I really dont want to hurt the moms either or anybody for that matter but this is a Hunger Games au) And yeah it does match actual Avatar canon to have Spider be one of the ones captured so that's what happens. Neytiri and Aonung are also captured.

The families are all incredibly distraught. Paz has a full on meltdown the moment she wakes up in recovery and is told the terrible news. It's her worst nightmare come to life and she completely blames herself for it. Quaritch, who's already inwardly losing his shit over his son but trying to keep it together, internally breaks seeing his wife like that because he's never seen her break before. After Paz is sedated Quaritch goes off to be alone. Spider's capture cases a real strain on their relationship because neither knows how to comfort or emotionally support the other. Paz is so guilt ridden that she doesn't want to be anywhere near her husband feeling intense shame when ever he looks at her. Quaritch doesn't blame her for Spider's capture. He blames himself for not volunteering in his son's place the day of the reaping. the only thing they can manage to do together is plan on saving their son.

Ronal also blames herself for her son's capture but she buries it deep under a wildfire determination to get him back. Tonowari of course wants Aonung back too and is just as determined, he just advocates that they be calm and level headed about their recuse so that they don't lose anyone else.

Jake hasn't felt this powerless in years. He wants to storm the Capital single handed to get his wife back but no one will let him leave. They all look down on him for being in a wheelchair and forget that he was a victor in the Hunger Games once. That he trained his children to be warriors while being paralyzed. But no matter how much he advocates for himself it just falls on the deaf ears of district 13's president. Who i decided is not Grace but General Ardmore.

Ardmore rules over district 13 in a strict but seemingly fair manner. And she is a pretty good leader. She's just extremely power hunger. I'm going to say Ian Garvin is the Heavensbee of this au. He sees right through Ardmore but he does need her to win the war. It's him that convinces her to let Jake, Ronal, Tonowari, Quaritch and Paz into her war room. Jake impresses her with his war strategies ( Don't worry Jake doesn't come up with Gale's plan. That's all Ardmore) and quickly becomes the lead strategist of her army. Tonowari and Quaritch are on the frontlines. They try to convince Ronal and Paz to stay back but Paz brushes them off with a bitter, "I have nothing left to lose," and Ronal snaps, "i will fight!"

The Capital starts airing interviews with their clearly brainwashed hostages. Paz's shriek silences the entire cafetiere when she sees her son on the t.v. His wild mane of curls now fall neatly around his chin, brushed out of his face like a perfect little gentleman. It shows off how sunken his cheeks have gotten. how hollow and dead his eyes looks. His once tan skin is now pale, made to look even paler by the snow white suite they've dressed him to hide his thin frame. "what would you like to say to your friends and family right now Spider?" "Kiri? Mama? Dad?," Quaritch is trying to hold Paz up as she openly sobs for her child for all of district 13 to see, "please stop. This isn't you. Your good people that would never betray the country. Just stop fighting and come home please."

Aonung get's the exact same treatment dresses up and paraded around on t.v like the Capital's little pet, begging his mom and dad to surrender. Ronal cracked a tooth from clenching her jaw so hard in rage and Tonowari put a hole in the wall when no one was looking.

Neytiri is also brought out, her braids are taken out, hair straightened within an inch of its life. she's dressed in a tasteful white cocktail dress, with a white rose tucked behind her right ear. when she's asked "what would you like to say to your husband right now." She says, "my Jake," there's a long pause, a whole war going on behind her amber eyes before she finally chokes out, "end them." the broadcast instantly cuts off.

And the kids in all this? Since I don't really have a mockingjay singled out among the bunch, I'm gonna say they're all kinda the mockingjay. They're the kids who survived. The ones who have to now live with the horrors inflicted on them by the capital. As I was typing this I actually thought it'd fit Neteyam to make a shrine for one of his competitors like Katniss did for Rue. He bonded with a little girl that was Lo'ak's age at the time but reminded him a lot of Tuk. When she died it was like he could see both of his siblings dying with her and it utterly gutted him. He honored her in front of all of Panem and for it everyone loves him.

Kiri is beloved for her definice. It inspires so many others to stand up and fight.

Lo'ak feels ashamed for what happened to his mother and is very candid about it. He talks openly about how he felt so inadequate compared to his "hero" parents and brother. But he understands now that underneath all the pageantry and splendor of the Capital is a absolutely vile core that needs to be ripped out so that they all can finally know peace.

Tsireya is a medic in this like Prim was. Her and Lo'ak start up a romance because they trauma bond over a family member being held hostage.

Tuk is there but she's just too little to really do anything.

And finally Grace in all this plays a similar roll as the mayor from district 8. She just had this lightbulb moment after having Kiri that her daughter would never know peace as long as there tyrannical government stayed in power. She wanted to take Kiri with her but she got word that a sickness was spreading through 13 that was killing all the children. Kiri and her have a lot to work through but Kiri doesn't get angry with Grace for wanting to fight for a better world. Kiri still grew up healthy and happy with her adopted family and soon all of them would be able to live freely and safely in the world they'll create.

Finally the opportunity arrives to save the hostages. Norm is able to hack the system giving a volunteer strike team an opening. the team is made up of Quaritch, Paz, Ronal, Tonowari and Neteyam. It goes off without a hitch. I want to say that unlike in the movie/book where Snow actually just let them go that in this au the strike team was actually just that good and got in and out without anyone noticing. The families all hold each other all the way home the only sounds coming from their cries of relief.

Also none of them are brainwashed to try and kill a loved one. They are severely traumatized though. Their tortures goes as follows and you can skip to the next paragraph if you’d rather not read this. Spider was made to see horrific fantasies under trackerjacker venom to the point where it’s hard for him to tell what’s real anymore. He’s jittery and anxious all the time and panics easily. He flinches if someone raises a hand too fast and that includes his own parents who are both devastated for their son and enraged that the capital would hurt their boy so badly he couldn’t even trust his own mom and dad anymore. Kiri helps Spider through it playing “real or not real,” something she tells Quaritch and Paz about to better manage Spiders dissociative episodes when she’s not around. Aonung was given electric shocks in water now making him fear it. Even seeing a few drops of water is enough to make him shake. This hurts his whole family to see since the ocean is the core of there cultural identity. Ronal and Tonowari want to burn the entire capital down to nothing for the crime against humanity they’ve inflicted on their son. It takes so much time but his parents and sister start with coaching Aonung through the breathing mediation he’d do as a small child when he was first learning to swim putting his mind at ease by reciting the way of water with him. Once he doesn’t freak out seeing so much as a cup of water they slowly get him to interact with it again first with a very shallow bath (basically a puddle) building until his family is lovingly coaxing him into a pool. He panics at first but swimming is like breathing to him and surrounded by so much love and support he eventually calms. Neytiri was given a drug that made the simplest touch feel like excruciating pain. She knows it was just the chemicals they pumped into her veins but she can’t help but flinch every time one of her children hugs her, her breath catching in her throat. She puts on a brave face and holds her children despite how much it makes her heart race. The only one she talks about this with is Jake. They do their own form of real or not real where he’ll brush his fingertips over her arm so so gently he’s almost not touching her at all and ask, “pain or no pain,” until Neytiri can retrain her mind to not associate every minor touch with pain.

After they take time to recover it’s decided that a strike team will be sent out to assassinat Snow. There’s no way in hell any of the parents will let there kids go on this mission so it’s all the adults. Maybe it's just because I love all these characters and don’t want to kill them off but I’m going to say they’re all so good that they outmaneuver every capital trap and survive Ardmore’s bombing of civilians but if I was going to kill people off here's how I’d do it…

Tonowari meets the same fate as Boggs killed in a trap.

Quaritch is overwhelmed by mutts like Finnick was. Paz shoots him herself to put him out of his misery

Neteyam is killed in the second wave of bombings. He snuck out of 13 with the medics because he wanted to give aid to the civilians hurt in the war.

I also had the very evil idea of Neteyam getting sent to the group like Peeta was for some reason, and him being injured in the same trap that killed Tonowari and Neytiri staying with him while the rest move on only for them both to die when the building their hiding in is bombed and then Tsireya dies trying to give medical aid to civilians but good god is that devastating for me to think about.

But it’s a good thing none of that happens! So Ardmore gathers all the past hunger games victors to discuss Snow’s public execution and to float the idea of a hunger games with the capitals children. They are all equally horrified because they’ve all been through so much and just want peace. The kids all speak out but the parents stay quiet all silently thinking the same thing. This bitch has got to go.

All the victors are lined up with bows and arrows to execute Snow in front of the whole country. Only half of the arrows pierce him though. They other half sail right into Ardmore’s chest. Grace is later elected president. Kiri is constantly going from the Sully’s place to Grace’s to Spider’s. Spider and his parents live in a cottage in a peaceful meadow where he continues his recover. His mom is kind of smothering now still recovering from the trauma of losing her son but he knows it’s all love. When he’s in a better place he decides to travel and see the new world. Ronal and Tonowari are surprised to learn they’re expecting but it’s a happy surprise. They can’t wait to bring their third into a peaceful world. Tsireya continues her medical training and Aonung becomes a sailor. He just feels at peace out on the ocean. Jake is basically Graces Vice President and Neytiri is basically the secretary of infrastructure working to rebuild every district. Neteyam, Lo’ak, and Kiri are the leads on construction on a memorial for all the children slaughtered in the games. Everyone is their on opening day. It’s seeing the memorial that really brings peace to all of them. It’s not only a testament to those killed, but a marker that all the horror is now over.

tfe tarantulas x tfe prowl

We don't know a lot (read: anything) about TFE Prowl, so I'm gonna improvise and say he's mostly true to his G1 iteration, if a bit more jaded and tired. He hasn't seen Tarantulas in Primus knows how long, probably several million years in a non-war context. We don't even know what happened to spider dad. Last we saw he was getting chased by GHOST trying to protect owl baby.

So I'm gonna say they're both on the run and run into each other while siphoning energy to make their own energon on the go. Prowl wasn't willing to work with GHOST or with Megatron, so he split and is now quietly in hiding. It's lonely, and the isolation is starting to get to him. He runs smack into his old flame (who's still hot). Neither of them want to fight, they're just trying to live and not be dragged off to be experimented on. One thing leads to another and they end up living together. They're both introverted hermits. They're perfect roommates lol

It's not long before they start casually facing, and soon after old feelings start to creep back in. It's hard not to, there's just. There's so much history there. Maybe this time, in this context, their relationship isn't doomed to fail. They're both bad at feelings and intimate communication but... they're trying.

I think, after the brief encounter with Nightshade, Tarantulas has caught a bit of baby fever. He's not actively planning it, god no, but he catches himself fondly recalling Nightshade and missing them. Thinking how nice it was to have them around, how they were so bright and full of potential and how good it felt to have an eager little student he could teach. He knew them for such a short time but he was and still is so proud of them. He wants that again. Craves it. And I think, with this desire, his body acts on it's own. Starts storing transfluid rather than filtering it out, dutifully filling his gestation tank to prepare for the newspark he clearly wants so badly.

It's not too long, maybe a year, before Prowl notices his partner acting strangely. He's getting weirdly moody and snappy, he's been spending more and more time in alt mode, and he's gotten strangely territorial. Often hissing at Prowl and stomping his front legs at him, guarding the door to his room (they've got an underground burrow-hideout thing). Even doing little faux charges at him to keep him back. Inwardly, he sighs: Tarantulas's psyche and instincts adapted and evolved quite a bit when he took this form. This is some kind of strange arachnid behavior and he's not sure what it is, but surely it will eventually pass, right?

Tarantulas starts guzzling all the fuel they have, gulping down cube after cube with hardly a breath between. Prowl's never seen someone binge like that and he's worried he's going to rupture his fuel tank! Tries to get him to stop and talk to him, and Tarantulas nearly bites him in turn. Promptly scuttles back into his room and begins webbing up the door. Prowl is at a loss.

Inside, Tarantulas has made so many webs there's hardly a clean surface left, and he's made himself a collection of hammocks strung up in corners and on the walls, everywhere he can reach. There's at least a dozen web slings, he has to have the perfect one!

Unlike organic tarantulas, he lays only 3 eggs rather than dozens. They're much bigger compared to his body though, and he very, very carefully wraps them up in an egg sac and nestles it in the warmest, safest spot of his nest. He then promptly collapses and knocks out for like 16 hours, because labor is a lot of work!

When he finally wakes up he's sore and still exhausted, but now his head is clear from the egg-haze and realizes he should probably-definitely talk to Prowl. He's... really nervous, honestly. It's not like they're bonded. The autobot could just walk out and there's nothing he could do to really stop him short of restraining and holding him captive. But that's an option he's really not interested in.

Prowl isn't surprised at all. He found a forum of spider enthusiasts on earth, plugged in all the symptoms, and basically got the response of "your girl is about to become a mama good luck lol" and he spent the last 16 hours frantically researching everything he possibly could. He knows plenty about newspark care but very little about spiders and he has no idea exactly how much of their biology Tarantulas wrote into his new alt mode when he was designing it, so he wants to be as prepared as possible. He lets Tarantulas break the news and his first question is just, "How many are there?" really hoping the answer won't be 20+ because that's a lot of mouths to feed. He's so relieved when it's only triplets. That's far more manageable.

The sparklings incubate for a few weeks in their eggs and it gives the expectant parents a bit of time to prepare, stockpiling fuel and making space and contingency plans for them. They already have escape plans if GHOSTs' hunters find them, but having bitties changes the game. Their survival becomes the top priority, and they have to make hard decisions about who will escape with them and how, who will have a better chance at keeping them safe and alive if or when they have to relocate.

Watching them hatch is an exciting ordeal, and they're all thankfully healthy: a little purple and white one, another that's black and green, the final one white and deep blue. Idk if Tarantulas was able to alter his very CNA when he changed his mode (usually that doesn't happen, but he's such a mad scientist he could theoretically have done so). If he did, at least one is a tiny spiderling. If not, then one has Prowl's original praxian alt mode, and the other two have their carrier's original mode, whatever that may be.

The triplets are just darling, painfully cute and very affectionate, tumbling out of their eggs and immediately reaching for their carrier and sire. They're good parents, all things considered, taking turns going on energon runs and making life underground as bright and fulfilling as possible for their children. They already have the whole... thing... with Springer, so parenthood isn't exactly new to them. They know what they're doing, for the most part, but juggling 3 at once is definitely more challenging! Tarantulas at least has extra limbs and webs to wrangle them, but they run poor Prowl ragged! He loves them so, so much though, and never complains.

Tarantulas would probably love to introduce them to Nightshade, someday, but I don't realistically know if that will be possible. Maybe, after GHOST is defeated, the little family decides to take a trip to see Tarantulas' little owlet 🤭 Nightshade would be all over them, and over the moon when spider dad asks them to be their honorary godsibling. THOUGHTS ON THE NEW PJO EPISODE

SPOILER WARNING FOR EPISODE 5 AND THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK(S)

this is all out of order because I'm writing in the order that I'm remembering

SPIDERS:

as we saw, they cut the spider scene. that's what I was most excited about, but the throne made up for (and replaced) that moment adequately enough. it was a great show of Annabeth and Percy's character development, which I love.

what also replaced the spider scene was Annabeth already disappointing her mother. the point of this scene, besides introducing Annabeth's and other children of Athena's phobia of spiders, was to have Annabeth have her "disappointing Athena" moment. Now, it's been over two years now since I've read the original series, so correct me if I'm wrong, but Athena didn't have much of a reaction to Medusa's head being sent to Olympus (at least not in a way that interfered with the quest at that point.)

FATES:

another thing I've been waiting for. I think its interesting that Grover didn't see them, while Annabeth did. I do like the "they're watching us" part, as it applied to multiple situations.

1. the gods. they're always watching them.

2. the authorities, reporters, etc.

3. the Fates.

Grover being focused on the second reason because he's supposed to be the protector is something I find interesting. Annabeth watching the fates and agreeing to what Grover is saying: because she thinks he's seeing the same thing, or because she's so focused?

TUNNEL

when they jumped in the water, Annabeth yelled for Percy. At first, I had a moment similar to Nico in TTC: "Why would she yell underwater and waste her breath if she obviously can't swim/is drowning?" Then I realized it was a show of her trust in Percy. She wouldn't have risked actually drowning and dying if she didn't believe Percy could help her. But then, that confuses me at the next part where she's like, "Did you just pull me out of the water with your water powers etc. etc.?" Was she trying to cover up the fact that she can't swim or something? Too proud to thank him, so she changed the topic to his newfound powers? I don't know.

DID NOT EXPECT THE FIRST SEAWEED BRAIN DROP

side note: some time ago, I heard someone say that "seaweed brain" is the perfect ship name for Percy and Annabeth (imo anything is better than anussy lmao), Percy being the seaweed, Annabeth being the brain. I think it's cute, but I'm more partial to Percabeth.

The whole thing with Hephaestus was another show of Annabeth and Percy's becoming friends. Obviously, she called him a friend, but actions speak louder than words. STILL, in I believe one episode, she went from "careful" to "my friend." I know her aforementioned comment was a teasing one, but it still shows how far they've come.

Finally got some halfway decent nighttime pictures while [baby] was out and about

#Spider #Nhandu Chromatus #Had to crank the heck out of the contrast since the lighting is suboptimal #Look at baby <3 <3 So big and handsome!#It's been super cute - I know they've been super industrious and moving their substrate around but I hadn't seen it #Last night I actually saw them moving around the sphagnum moss with their four front legs and ahhhh it was so cute!#I unfortunately got too excited and spooked them away from doing it but I saw for a moment! And it was adorable!#This is also them being a bit spooked from me wanting to get a better look at them - they felt the vibrations and made for their hide #They stayed still while I was taking pictures tho they must've realized I wasn't trying to open up or anything #They are quite skittish poor thing haha <3 But still so brave! Waiting to see what happens #I'm so happy to see how big their abdomen is! They've been eating well I'm very proud #They're not visible here but I'm pretty sure there are little bald spots developing on either side of their spinnerets #At first I thought bald spots were only from stress but apparently they're also a sign of a molt coming up! Ahh!!#It makes sense baby is still a baby so they'll have quite a few molts coming up :D Ahh I hope they get through all of them alright #Concerned parent lol #I have at least moved them to their own shelf so I stop stressing them out every time I go to check on the prey insects #Hhhhh love baby ;;

hmmm idk i tend to write hurt/comfort, like it ALWAYS ends with some sort of happy. so idk. i mean there is To All The Days We Were Together (To All The Time We Were Apart) which i'm SUPER proud of and that is super sad because it acknowledges eddie's canon death while also being a steddie fic. poor stevie

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

hmmmm maybe Google Translate? it's not got LOADS of plot in it it's just a cute lil meet cute.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

gonna also knock so hard on wood for this, but so far no. i've received a comment pointing out how i've gotten various cultural aspects wrong before and just corrected, but never something hateful. i'm definitely VERY afraid of getting hate though. i am fuelled by validation

no, i kind of want to give it a try though? i used to write it (like when i was fifteen/sixteen LMAO) and the things i wrote did well but,, obviously i didn't know anything? you know? idk maybe i should give it another go

not really? crossovers feel like BIG projects and i haven't really done a big project yet

no. i've had people request to translate my fics before though? which doesn't count but like,, feels weird because i think one time (when i was writing on wattpad), the person didn't even ask they just started publishing my fic translated and didn't credit me.......... was so strange

LMAO yes. both with permission and without as mentioned. i don't mind it if people ask, you know! i just have to make sure it links back to me- it's my work

i don't know, this is a hard one. steddie right now,, but like. i just enjoy fics my favourite charaters are in, you know? i will read any ship that is well written and contains steve, and most ships that are well written that contain robin, etc etc.

i would LIKE to think i will finish my WIPs but i don't know. im not very good at that. we will see, i don't wanna say any and discourage myself

i find these kinds of questions very hard to answer HAHA. i think maybeeee i'm quite good at writing internal monologue? i don't know. i get worried to say things like that because i don't want to sound like i'm boasting and it not even be a boast that's supported LMAO. i TRY and ENJOY writing internal monologues of characters a lot, and often have to cut things out to make sure it's not going too internal

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

transitions. i'm TRYING to get it in my head that i don't always have to detail every little thing for the reader to know it's happened, you know? need to work on figuring out things people can assume has happened, or fill in the gaps for, and what people can't

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i don't mind it! i think it depends, you know? if the reader is supposed to understand the dialogue, i prefer if there's a translation in brackets or something, or when it's written in english but the dialogue description tells me the language, more than if i have to scroll all the way to a bottom of a chapter to find the translation. and if the dialogue is NOT meant to be understood by the main character/reader (unless you speak the language of course), i LOVE it i think it's neat

🐺 - Who’s more dominant?

Hmm that's a tough question. I feel like it depends highly on the situations they're in together. They both are people who don't mind letting their partner take charge in situations, especially when they are out of their depth. Their not too proud to admit that they like being taken care of and both enjoy taking a passive role at times. In general, I would say Yume is more dominant in terms of communicating and moving their relationship along initially. And in public spaces, Yume would step up and deal with things/people that Idia doesn't like to; do due to his anxiety.

And in private Yume would work with Idia and find ways for both of them to communicate with each other. Being the one to initiate a lot of mortifying talks that neither of them wants to have, but are necessary.

🏩 - Who convinces the other to go to a love hotel?

Hmm this is tough. On one hand, I could see Idia wanting to live out some daydream fantasy of going to a love hotel with Yume, but being too nervous to ask. But, I could also see Yume researching private spaces to be romantic with your loved one. (bc aha no privacy in the Ramshackle between the ghosts, Grim, their brothers, as well as the revolving door of friends.) And finding out about love hotels. Hmm, I'd say Idia brings up the idea and Yume supports it wholeheartedly after hearing him explain it. Though the day they actually go Idia gets incredibly nervous and wonders if they should just cancel, but Yume calms him down enough to go.

🎡 - Who panics on a Ferris wheel? (Answered here.)

🩹 - Who administers first aid to their incredibly reluctant partner?

Yume is notorious for being clumsy and it isn't uncommon for a small bruise or wound to appear on Yume randomly. (Some because of their bad habit of picking their skin.)

Because of that Idia always keeps band-aids on him as a #key item. Yume tells him that is not a big deal and that it will heal up eventually, but it makes him uneasy to just leave it as is. (Big brother instincts and also some slight trauma about Ortho.*)

* I always think about these lines from Ortho's lab wear story.

Idia...gets really worried about his loved ones, so if he can do something to make sure they're okay or they heal faster he's going to do it whether they like it or not.

He is not going to repeat past mistakes. Idia definitely scolds Yume for picking their skin and for not paying attention to their surroundings, but not too much because sad Yume makes his chest hurt too!

🐜 - Who’s more terrified of bugs?

Depends on the bug. But I'd say Yume.

While I don't imagine Idia is scared of bugs in a general sense. He is SHRIEKING if something jumps at or flies at him. But if he knows it's a harmless bug he'll probably just be annoyed.

Bugs that only crawl don't scare him. Yume doesn't like BIG BUGS, SPIDERS, or things jumping or flying toward them and are disgusted/scared of being stung/bitten by anything. (They are also prone to getting bit by mosquitos pretty bad.) They are fine with harmless bugs like ladybugs, and fireflies, ect. and tolerate bees because of their services. If there is a spider in the vicinity Yume is jumping on the nearest piece of furniture. I imagine Idia feels very smug and like a great boyfriend when Yume runs to him and begs him to deal with the spider.

(Until it jumps lol.)

- TL;DR: Yume is more dominant (insert some wolf joke here), Idia convinces them to go to a love hotel <3, Idia calls Yume a 'baka" while tenderly bandaging their wounds, Idia gets rid of the spiders.

not technically a band but taylor swift. i just never really liked her music and i find her so overplayed that it's actually gotten to the point i get annoyed when i hear it played.

a childhood memory that you remember vividly:

one day i came home from school after we got to visit the school library and i borrowed the bailey school kids book about cupids and so when i got home i laid down on my top bunk and read the whole book and finished just in time for dinner and i was so proud of myself for finishing it so fast until i remembered it was gonna be a full week before we got to go back to the library

least favorite animal and why:

i don't necessarily have a least favorite animal but i guess small dogs? i just find them weirdly unnerving and so often they're so loud and badly trained and not washed often enough so they smell and i just don't really like them

hot fandom take:

just because someone/something is popular in the fandom it doesn't mean it/they're good. sometimes people or concepts just suck either in general or for your experience and it's fine to not interact/block/not consume that content if it isn't doing it for you.

do you wear any jewelry, if so, what’s your favorite piece:

i wear a ring on each hand every day and i wear earrings and necklaces sometimes too. i love my rings, my hands feel naked without them honestly, but my current favorite piece is probably a necklace i made out of a broken ring. it was an adjustable one and one side snapped off so i snapped off the other side, added a jump ring through an open part of it and added a chain. it's a spider holding a skull. its super fun and very different to a lot of my other pieces.

a movie others liked but you didn’t:

i'm not really a fan of the original evil dead trilogy. like the concept is cool but the humor, the stop motion animation, and a lot of the deadite makeup is just not really my taste. i do love the 2013 movie though. big fan of that one.

three things you love about yourself:

i've learned to be just okay at things and still have fun doing them, i have really pretty eyes, the fact i make a lot of things be it food or crafts or fandom stuff i just like making things

a place you hope to visit in the future and why:

i'd love to visit somewhere outside the us sometime because i never have before

an actor that gets on your nerves and why:

there's several and honestly it's either their energy or they did some fucked up shit and im tired of people talking about them. im not gonna name names though.

things you’re excited for in the nearby future?:

i'm gonna see a band I really like on the 17th of next month and it's gonna be so great because it's a small venue so I'll almost assuredly have a great view. plus tickets with service fees were $17.50 a piece which rocks. im spending more on gas to see them than on tickets which i find funny.

what’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in?:

i don't think i'm actually in any. i don't interact with shit like that because i'm in fandoms to have fun and enjoy shit so i stay out of drama and will block people who suck and then forget they exist

list three things you find beautiful about life:

people care about each other even when we don't know each other, there's a million little joys to be found in life, you can meet someone and have a great time together at an event and never speak again but you'll remember them fondly and do it over and over again.

any dreams for the future?

uhhhh, not really? I've never been a big dreamer. i'm a day by day girlie from way back

how are you really feeling today?

not too bad, i was good earlier but i played a couple video games too long earlier and now my ability to focus my eyes is a little screwy and I've got a bit of a headache

Attempting to put words to my otherheartedness

I've been thinking about the post regarding how difficult it is to explain what being otherhearted is like. And well, I guess I like a bit of a challenge. I'd also like to attempt to convey my experiences for the sake of anyone trying to figure out if they're otherhearted or not. While otherheartedness is broad and not everyone will experience it like me, I always think it's helpful to have people to compare notes with when questioning.

I'm going to focus on my spider hearttype for this post, for simplicity's sake. I might make another post about my fictional hearttype at a later date. I might not. Idk.

This is kinda long, so I'm putting it under a cut.

There are two main sentiments that I hold that led me to the label spiderhearted:

I feel a familial attachment to spiders

I feel I am a spider-themed person

On point 1:

I feel a maternal instinct towards spiders - something I notably thought I lacked entirely before I realized that the term could apply to other things besides human children. My brain registers basically every spider as my wonderful little child. I'm proud of them for being their spidery selves. I love them so much. Just looking at them brings me joy and comfort.

There is some nuance to this attachment because I feel it while also still seeing and appreciating them as a part of nature. So, it's not upsetting to me to see a tarantula hawk doing its thing or a bird hunting a spider or whatever. That's part of the spider's role in the ecosystem. It's important.

However, it is extremely upsetting to me when spiders are killed for no good reason by people. I don't even want to ever hear about it. It's also upsetting to hear people insulting them in general. I've blocked people just for calling them gross (and I'm not sorry about it).

On point 2:

This is definitely related to one of my kintypes (Widowmaker from Overwatch), but it plays into my otherheartedness in a big way as well.

You know how a lot of fictional characters have an animal as a motif, while still being human/humanoid themselves? I see myself as someone with a spider motif.

And I certainly enjoy presenting myself in this way. I like wearing spider-themed accessories and clothes. (Contrast this to the gear I have for my kintypes, where my aim is to literally look like that species or character instead. I don't have a shirt with a satyr on it, I have well-made costume horns and goat legs.)

And this applies online, too. My main handle is SpiderQueenPC. On sites I don't use as much, it's usually spidergoth.

I just really want people to associate me with spiders, basically. I'm spider-adjacent. That's part of my self-perception right alongside literally being certain species and characters.

On the surprise point 3 that I didn't list above because I don't consider it as crucial as the first 2:

I have some spidery traits. And by this, I mean a couple of things. The first one is pretty direct: I want to eat bugs. Not in the "I hate this animal so I want to eat it" internet comment way. (As I'm sure you can guess, I love bugs in general.) I just... don't see them as necessarily not-food the way most people do. Eating fried mealworms or whatever seems just as normal to me as eating a hamburger.

(Please don't derail this post by starting discourse about meat consumption in the notes. Please.)

The second one is metaphorical. I'm an illustrator. A professional one, now, but I've always drawn as a hobby. Throughout my entire life I have pursued this form of creativity out of what I can only describe as sheer instinct. I can point to inspirations for why I draw the way I do, but drawing in general? That's just innate to me, like eating and breathing. And I see spiders as a good metaphor for this. They, too, create out of instinct.

Conclusion:

Otherheartedness is multi-faceted and a little odd and that's what's lovely about it. I'm not sure how much this admittedly somewhat rambly post really conveys the experience, but at least I can say I tried. I encourage other folks in the otherhearted community to give it a go too, if you want to. Thanks for reading.
