Intrepid hero: "My cat-like senses guide my first step into the impenetrable gloom, across the threshold of the Sewers of Oblivion!"
Goblin: "This joker walked right past me without noticing."

This week, I’ve dragged out some of the dregs (mostly) of the Judges Guild catalog — the stuff they did for games that weren’t D&D. Their D&D stuff was of uneven quality from book to book, but with the exception of their RuneQuest stuff, the other game material was dashed off to the printer without half a thought. I’m not going to spend a ton of time on most of these, we’re mostly here to appreciate the old school art and cheap-o reproduction techniques.
This is Rat on a Stick (1982), one of about three modules JG produced for Tunnels & Trolls. This one is novel in that you can either treat it like a regular T&T solo module and go in killing everything that moves…or you can go in and serve all the monsters fast food as the owner of a Rat on a Stick franchise. Like fast food, it isn’t good for you, but it gets the job done and is at least sort of funny.
It always amuses me when I see Kevin Siembieda’s art in one of these. You can tell this whole book was an afterthought, though, because of the weird way they reused Jaquay’s art.

oh so the tunnel vision au is still like. im still figuring out details but the gist of it is that floyd, after returning to a dead troll tree and going gray bc he thinks he left branch to die, ends up wandering near the hole n fun. putt putt trolls save him from a critter and he reunites with clay, who tells him the other trolls actually escaped the tree. floyd then convinces him to go back to the tunnels with him to look for where the rest of the pop trolls went. they eventually convince viva to let them go by promising they'll come back and- if they found the village- lead the putt putts there, and they spend an undetermined amount of time doing that
ik they eventually do find pop village and find a gray and pretty feral branch on the outskirts, and clay has to figure out how to take care of his brothers while also going back to get the putt putt trolls. that's all i got for now

Welcome to Rat on a Stick, the dungeon's latest fast casual dining experience (From Rat on a Stick by George R Paczolt, dungeon adventure for Tunnels & Trolls or Monsters! Monsters!, Judges Guild, 1982) Long before Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in Dungeon, there was Rat on a Stick:
The Rat on a Stick dungeon is designed to add a touch of business sense to the usual dungeon adventure. The option of adding a fast food stand gives an easy method for new characters to pick up their first experience points in a purely defensive role as well as giving the party a chance to pick up a few extra GP for new supplies.
Feed all the horrible monsters lurking within these pages or defeat them for their treasure. The choice is yours!

wait. you said you had THREE aus where branch gets left behind in bergentown. what's the third.
A Rat in the Walls kind of fare where Branch sticks to the shadows and lives in constant, quiet, fear. He uses mousetraps to his advantage and is constantly beefing with the mice; Bridget and the other maids and serving staff are vaguely aware of the little shape darting in the shadows but only Bridget has recognized it as distinct from the mice so far. Branch meets Poppy and the first thing he does is shove her into a chimney to cover her in soot because she's "Too bright" and thus "Easy to spot." I don't have anything else for it though so it's been on the backburner compared to Between & Little Mouse.
