Marvel Cinematic Universe
Warmth of a Star
Trailer:  Steve woke up scared and alone in the 21st Century. He had to adjust to this new world on his own. He had to deal with the grief of losing his home and almost everyone he knew. He had to deal with the trauma of war, of losing Bucky, of losing everything that was familiar. And yet, Steve couldn’t let anyone see how much Captain America was suffering. He had to be strong for his team and for his country, with no one to support him. But what if Steve had someone to help him? What if he had someone who understood that he was dealing with more trauma and grief and loneliness than anyone could imagine? What if he had someone who saw him as more than just Captain America, who saw him as Steve Rogers?
Chapter 1- An Arctic Scavenger Hunt:  Stella Smith is a 16-year-old intern at S.H.I.E.L.D. working for Agent Coulson. She is permitted to come with him and Lieutenant Hope to the Arctic Circle.
Chapter 2: In Progress…
Steve x Bucky
Polar Bear Plunge: Sam, Steve, and Bucky had been sent out on a mission to check on a suspected supply of Super Soldier Serum. The Serum winds up in the lake, and Steve and Bucky go in after it.
Post-Mission After Drop: Steve tends to get cold easier. He sometimes has after drop moments after being in the not-so-cold, getting too stressed, getting sick, or getting too tired. This happens especially after long missions when he’s stressed and tired. Luckily, he has Bucky. Inspired by the lovely @softersteve!
Fluffy Ficlet: Stucky and Flowers: Steve gets Bucky some flowers he found on his way home from work. Turns out, Steve isn’t the only one with allergies. Written for the wonderful @buckysnose!
Shivery Snuggles: Inspired by a bit of cold weather at the time, Steve and Bucky cuddle in their cold apartment.
Stucky Pre-War Cuddles: Pre-Serum Steve gets so cold in winter, but Bucky’s always there to keep his best guy warm. This was inspired by a request from a sweet anon!
Colds, Chilly Nights, and Tissues: Bucky’s coming down with a cold, and being locked out of his apartment in the chilly early springtime air didn’t help. Requested by the lovely @buckysnose!
Stucky: Wintertime Sickfic
Part 1:  Steve and Bucky are sent to the Mount Denali region in Alaska shortly after New Year’s. It was supposed to be a simple overnight mission to check out an old HYDRA base. The weather has other plans.
Part 2: The cabin where our favorite super soldiers are trapped is only getting colder as the snowfall becomes a proper snowstorm. Steve has a stupid and reckless plan to get them help.
Part 3: In Progress…
Stucky x Reader
Period Pains: When period cramps get bad, the Super Soldier boys are there to provide comfort. Written for the wonderful @softersteve!
Saw Franchise
Chainshipping
Sawliday AU:  Adam and Lawrence wake up in an old ranger station in the middle of nowhere two weeks after the New Year. They have no way to contact anyone and no idea where they are. What they do have are the clothes on their backs, a torn up map that only shows them where to go, and a six-foot chain locking them together.
Chapter 1: How did this happen?
Chapter 2: Two bros chilling in a forest. Six feet apart ‘cause they are gay.
Chapter 3: In Progress...
*Comfortember 2020 in 2021
Some of these stories contain triggering content, but I am marking them all as potentially triggering because all of the stories reference the abuse Bucky endured from HYDRA. Each story has a specific warning, too.
Day 1- Rescue: Steve finds Bucky cold, alone, starving, and frightened on a rainy New York morning. He doesn’t hesitate to take him in.
Day 2- First Day: The super soldiers made it back to Steve’s apartment.
Day 3- Nightmare: Bucky may be safe from the elements and HYDRA, but he isn’t free of nightmares.
Day 4- Anxiety: Bucky’s nightmare has him really shaken up. He’s convinced he’s dangerous, and that if he stays around Steve, he’ll hurt him when the Winter Soldier inevitably takes over again.
Day 5- Cuddling: The Super Soldiers have a calm moment together after the stress and anxiety.
Day 6- Afraid to Sleep: Bucky’s afraid that if he goes to sleep, he’ll have another nightmare and possibly hurt Steve
Day 7- Blanket Fort: Steve makes a blanket fort, then tells Bucky some of his favorite memories he has of the two of them.
Days 8, 9, and 10- Lashing Out, Confessions, Crying: Bucky is frustrated because Steve still won’t stop trying to make him remember while Steve is becoming more and more desperate to get his boyfriend back.
Day 11- PTSD: It’s hard to love when you’re swallowed by fear.

Prompt 2: Platonic Caretaker and Whumpee have been friends, almost family for a long time. But there’s something Whumpee is hiding from Caretaker.

Living with Floods in the Innoko Lowlands Spring is a time of major transformation across interior Alaska, as snow melts off the land and ice breaks up along the rivers. The transition is especially apparent within the Innoko Lowlands, a group of vast, flat floodplains traversed by the Yukon and Innoko rivers. Seasonal melting here can lead to flooding so widespread that it is visible from space. The transition is evident in these natural-color images, acquired by the Operational Land Imager-2 (OLI-2) on Landsat 9. The left image shows the lowlands on May 19, 2022, during a typical mid-spring day. The right image shows the same area on June 4, 2022, after meltwater had inundated the landscape. The Innoko River is a major tributary of the Yukon River. It originates in the Kuskokwim Mountains and flows north and then southwest for about 500 miles (800 kilometers) before joining the Yukon near the town of Holy Cross. Lakes, wetlands, and forests dot the landscape, and a complex network of sloughs meander between the two rivers. In mid-spring there are still patches of snow on the land and ice on the Yukon. By late-spring, the landscape has greened up and water (dark brown) has spilled far beyond the banks of the Innoko. Some of the flooding was likely caused by chunks of river ice that blocked the flow of water—a phenomenon known as an ice jam that can cause rivers and their tributaries to rise and spill over their banks. On May 21, 2022, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch due to an ice jam for parts of the Yukon and for the Innoko River from Shageluk to 20 miles (32 kilometers) upstream. But according to Christopher Arp, a scientist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the melting of deep snowpack from this winter likely contributed, too. The small Native village of Shageluk, about 330 miles (530 kilometers) west of Anchorage, stands out amidst the flooding. According to Joyanne Hamilton, a resident of Shageluk and a citizen scientist, high water and the occasional extreme flooding around Shageluk is a typical springtime occurrence. “It is in our oral histories that we know of these things,” Hamilton said. “It was normal to have extreme flooding years.” Hamilton noted that 2022 seems to be one of the more extreme years. “The last time in my experience where it flooded this much was in 1992, when literally the water current changed directions,” she said. The floods that year inundated the airport. Flooding this year did not reach the airport, but access roads were submerged, requiring people to reach the airport by boat. Some of the flooding and its disruptions were documented in pictures and video from citizen scientists as part of Fresh Eyes on Ice. The project, co-funded by NASA, aims to increase observations of ice conditions on Alaskan lakes and rivers. The Innoko River’s consistently high springtime water levels led the people of two major villages to relocate in the 1960s. The village of Holikachuk relocated to Grayling on the Yukon, and Shageluk now sits on higher ground about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) south of its original location. Shageluk is the last inhabited village along the Innoko River. Hamilton explained that there were many more villages along the Innoko River in the past. High water and subsistence activities caused people to move, but they would return depending on the season. “Places on the Innoko are still not considered abandoned and are owned by our people as tribal lands and Native allotments under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA),” Hamilton said. “The Innoko area was well-settled for centuries, even with the yearly spring flooding.” NASA Earth Observatory images by Joshua Stevens, using Landsat data from the U.S. Geological Survey. Story by Kathryn Hansen with input from the Adolph Hamilton family stories and experiences.

20 Anti-Inflammatory Dinners to Make This April
Tumblr media
20 Anti-Inflammatory Dinners to Make This April. A well-balanced diet full of nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, and spices is the best way to lower inflammation. Inflammation can lead to heart disease, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. Inflammation can also be a major source of chronic pain, digestive problems and weight gain, so it’s important to reduce it by following an anti-inflammatory diet. These 20 dinners will help you keep it under control and support your immune system, too! - Edamame & Chickpea Salad Deliciously nutritious, this salad is loaded with edamame, chickpeas, carrots and bell peppers. It’s tossed in a herb and garlic vinaigrette with tart dried cranberries to balance the flavour. This is a healthy snack, dip or appetizer that can be enjoyed by itself or served on top of mixed greens for a hearty meal. It’s easy to make ahead and store in the fridge, too! This recipe calls for edamame (pronounced ehduhmaa*may), which are immature soybeans that can be found in the frozen section at your supermarket. They’re a great source of protein and fiber. - Ginger-Spiced Chickpeas This spicy chickpea stew is so easy to make and makes a wonderful, hearty dinner. It’s a great one-pot meal that you can have on the table in 30 minutes tops! In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium-high. Add onion, garlic and ginger. Stir until onions are tender and begin to brown. When the onions are translucent, add the tomatoes. Simmer on low for 10 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Serve with rice, naan or even with a dollop of yoghurt on the side. It’s a perfect vegan comfort food. This spiced chickpea recipe is the perfect addition to a shawarma bowl, or it’s also an excellent snack. It’s a quick and easy dish to prepare, and it can be made ahead of time so you can grab it on the go. - Salmon with Berries Wild Alaskan salmon encased in plate licking worthy sauce topped with a sweet, refreshing salsa of blueberries, pineapple and red bell peppers is the perfect combination for this springtime anti-inflammatory dinner. It's easy to make, and will leave you with no regrets! A glistening, jewel-like array of fruits that resemble raspberries and blackberries, salmonberries appear on shrubs throughout the Pacific Northwest and parts of Alaska and Canada. They're the first berries of spring and are delicious straight from the plant, or when they're harvested and processed into jams, jellies and wine. Often found in the wild, salmonberries aren't available year round so they're best enjoyed during their early ripening period. They're juicy, fragrant and highly perishable. - Sweet Potato & Kidney Bean Stew Sweet potatoes are the perfect side for a hearty stew, especially one packed with kidney beans. Served with dollops of yoghurt (veggie or vegan) as a cooling contrast and hot mint oil for a delicious drizzle, this is a comforting dish to make on a cold day. A delicious slow cooker meal, this Sweet Potato & Kidney Bean Stew is super simple to make. It's also full of flavour and nutritious - it meets all your vitamin A and K needs! Add all the ingredients to a 5 quart electric slow cooker and cook on low 8 hours. Mash a few of the sweet potatoes to thicken up the stew. - Strawberry & Tomato Salad Using peak-season strawberries and tomatoes is a great way to pack a ton of nutrients into a single dish. Fresh fruits and vegetables in season are ripe when they’re at their peak, so they’re higher in certain antioxidants that fight inflammation. This sweet, fruity salad pairs well with grilled meats like veggie burgers or BBQ jackfruit sandwiches for a light, anti-inflammatory meal. Add a simple balsamic reduction and olive oil to complete the flavor profile, and you have one delicious summer dinner! This is a very easy recipe and can be made in advance. Just be sure to add the vinegar dressing right before serving so it doesn’t get mushy. Read the full article

Infant seal sᴄares baby Polar Bear as well as the internet can not deal
In one of the sweetest picture the animal globe have ever offered, a polar bear cub is totally left in sear when an infant seal pops through ice, right in front of him. Happened by chance, the minute was luckily caught on electronic camera, and also the Net can not deal with the cuteness.
Alaska– A polar bear waits patiently for a seal, however her cub is taken by surprise when it appears all of a sudden. Snow Bears, the dramatised true-to-life story of polar bear cubs on a trip of a life time is a show created by BBC One, and also their promotion for the series has left the net all warm and also fuzzy! Quickly as they reached the limitless glacier, the hᴜngrʏ mother started to ᴄhase seals– polar bears major food resource– wishing her 2 cubs will certainly also establish their hᴜnting abilities. Yet the mom bear’s expectations are quickly rᴜined as one of the cubs epically cruises on her initial lesson. It’s a fun-packed, snowy adventure as two young bears learn just how to endure. The trip is triggered by the arrival of springtime when the ice ᴠanishes from the island of their birth as well as with it, the seals. Polar bears have to follow their preʏ to the year-round pack ice in the far north. Influenced by the searless mommy, the cub seems more figured out than ever before to ᴄatᴄh her very own dinner, but only to sell on her back with sear, when a baby seal discovered its way through the ice simply in front of the bear. Clearly, the little one really did not expect to this.

Winter's End: A Mystery (Alaska Wild) by Paige Shelton #Review @MinotaurBooks @AuthorPaige

The fourth installment in the gripping, atmospheric Alaska Wild series, Paige Shelton's Winter's End. It’s springtime in Benedict, Alaska, and with the warmer weather comes an unseasonably somber local tradition...the annual Death Walk. At the end of each brutal winter, citizens gather downtown and then break into groups to search the community for those who might have somehow gotten stuck at home. Beth Rivers sets off with her friend Orin and dog Gus, toward the cabin of an elderly resident, intending to check on him. When they reach the cabin, the old man is alive, but not in the best shape. Beth stays with him while Orin hurries to town for help, but it’s not Orin who returns. Gril comes back with shocking news, and it soon becomes clear that Orin has also vanished. When they discover that their friend has been doing some top-secret research, they start to worry he’s been exposed, or worse. Meanwhile, Beth continues on her own search, for her father, who allegedly is alive in Mexico, but won't return her calls. Still, she's making progress in healing from her own trauma, though can't quite shake the feeling she's being followed... Dollycas's Thoughts Benedict, Alaska has a unique tradition due to the vastness of the area and the savage winter months. When the warmer weather of spring returns the annual Death Walk commences. Each citizen must check in downtown. Failure to do so means a visit from members of the community to check if they are still among the living. Newcomer Beth Rivers takes part in her first Death Walk and after checking in travels with her friend Orin and dog Gus to visit an elderly resident who has not appeared in town. They arrive to find the man alive but in a pretty bad state. While Orin leaves to arrange for him to be transferred to the doctor in town Beth stays to try to get some fluids into the man who is clearly dehydrated. Sometime later Police Chief Gril returns to help Beth and tells her Orin has disappeared. When they return to town she also learns another of her new friends is missing too. Just what Beth needs in her life, more missing persons. She has been searching for her dad and her mother came to Alaska for a visit and took off without saying where she was going. She is also still recovering from her own traumatic event involving another missing man that needs to be caught. Beth also has the eerie feeling someone is watching her. On the upside, there is a new tenant at Benedict House, and boy can they cook! Beth Rivers is a wonderful protagonist. She moved to Alaska to escape, to hide, from a man who kidnapped her and kept her locked in a van for 3 days before she was able to free herself. She was injured and hospitalized and with a little help, she left the lower 48 and touched down in Alaska to check in to Benedict House until her kidnapper could be caught. As a successful thriller author, using the pseudonym of Elizabeth Fairchild, she can write anywhere. Even in the wilderness of Alaska. Now with this 4th book, Beth is more settled. She has a routine and has made friends. Just a few know her true story but she has fit right into this unique town that is mostly made up of misfits, each with their own distinct story. Ms. Shelton has created a whole group of multifaceted characters including several new characters for this book. They all have layers that are slowly peeled away as the story/series continues. They are all intriguing in their own way and really draw you into the story. There are several lines of mystery entwined together. A family feud, missing persons, a dead body, a mysterious individual, a weird landmark, and more all come together within these pages. The author has written a fast-paced riveting novel full of mystery and suspense. The location is almost a character in itself. I was able to clearly visualize every place our protagonist traveled. From where she lives at Benedict House, to the shed where she writes, the nearby library, the compounds at each end of town, and even the airport. Winter's End is another fascinating read from Paige Shelton. I escaped right into it and had a great time with the residents of Benedict, Alaska. I have enjoyed every book in this series. I do recommend that you read them all in order to fully appreciate the character growth and development. Plus they are all fantastic reads. The best thing is that Beth's story continues . . . but we have to wait until December when Lost Hours will be released. Ms. Shelton, can you see me tapping my foot? I am excited and impatiently waiting until that day.

They may be criticized for being too dreamy and having their heads in the clouds. Likely, they retain their childlike sense of wonder at the world. People who choose mauve as their favorite color are hopeless romantics. Mauve brings to mind the ethos of renewal associated with springtime. Mauve features heavily in wedding color schemes, often paired with maroon, gray, and antique rose. A pastel ( US: / pstl /) is an art medium in the form of a stick, consisting of powdered pigment and a binder. It is a soft spring color that’s not as girly as pastel pink or as loud as yellow. As a wall color, mauve provides a subtly regal ambience. It goes well with tawny gold and cream pieces, as well as darker purple accents. In interior decorating, mauve can take on many personalities: antique, quirky, feminine. It is often in used in live theatre to create the effect of a sunset. Today, mauve is popular in women’s fashion and cosmetics. Mauve in fashion, decoration and cosmetics The dye discovery led to such an abundance of purple clothing that the 1890s were known as “The Mauve Decade.” Mauve is credited by historians as “the color that changed the world.”Īlexandra Feodorovna, the last Empress of the Russian Empire, treasured her Mauve Room in the legendary Romanov palace. Violet, once a hue reserved for royalty, was now a mass market sensation. The dye was nicknamed mauveine or Perkin’s mauve, and Perkin marketed it to the dye industry in 1859 with huge success.
