Media Content I consumed/devour
Last update on Saturday October 22 2022
Anime I have already watched:
to be organised later kind of mind dumping !
/!\ Some of these do contain triggering topics please proceed with caution( bc I did not mention for every single one what it is about and the genre. In the near future I might or not I'll see...)
You will also find in-between parentheses my opinion about anime as well as me exposing myself, if it's mature bl(boys love) or not and some trigger warning too labelled like this /!\ + the content it deals with.
This list is under constant construction so do not expect it to ever be complete simply because it won't!!
91 days( All of it-spoiler: this anime is pain layered), 2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu, 25-sai no Joshikousei(more of hentai I should say), 6 Lovers, Ikoku Irokoi Romantan, Houkago no Shoukuinshitsu, Actors: Songs Connection, Ahiru no sora(spoiler if you're a sore loser don't watch this at all), Ai no Monogatari, Ai no Kusabi(not suitable for everyone- spoiler rundown: people are in this sort of futuristic world and some are used as sex slaves again not for everyone bc here they literally own people), Aoi Bungaku Series, Akame ga Kill, All Out, Angel Densetsu, Antique Bakery, Africa no Salaryman,

That man is Kyoraku san plus he's a cancer like what this can't be a coincidence at all. Ahh, je m'emporte à nouveau. I would like to heat the lore for these fankids
Need to put a disclaimer: Some lore stuffs left out because it would spoil future planned events.
Ahiru grows up shielded from her family tree, for obvious reasons. Kisa wanted to protect her from the history of ag and his past but that only made her feel like she was being hidden knowledge from. Because of that she questions if the kisaragi foundation is actually just in its goal (which since its the future, they don't have to do much now) but regardless acts as assistant co-head of security and warden of prisoners along with [Spoilers]. Eventually Ahiru finds out about Ag's past and decides to use his old cults name for her new vigilante group, who works towards revealing secrets and lies and bringing about justice. Kinda like the phantom thieves from persona 5, just a bit more malicious.
As for Shinon I already briefly brought up his lore but i'll try to go into a bit more detail. Because of future events on the blog shinon is pretty much shielded off from the world up till he's 13, as with lots of parents and a broker uncle comes lots of enemies. During that time he majorly bonds with twotk and reads/studies, along with being tutored and home schooled by nikei and kokoro (She kind of acts like an aunt/grandma though technically she is not part of the family tree) Once he turns 13 he starts going to public school and starts working part time at the new improved otori mart while also being taught by syobai on the side which only sora knows about. This goes on until he turns 15, where literally a day later he meets mikado while on patrol. He does not tell his parents out of fear of being shielded again, instead just learning to deal with him and trying to figure out what he wants.
And that is all I can disclose without saying blog spoilers, i'll expand on this maybe later.

And this Sakamaki guy! HOW HE DARES ASKING THIS?! Like I get that he has a well-being of Kite’s potential at his heart, but it is so rude and heartless to ask him to change schools and join his team just because Kuzu High is a waste of time for Kite. Like hell, he is friends a mum of one of the players, how he can be so blunt and say everybody outside of Kite is worthless? Did he see the same match I did? I DOUBT IT. What an asshole move! I am glad Kite refused!

It's a shame I didn't find Ahiru no Sora back in the 00's but I'm willing to see if it's got anything special before I decide if I'm bored or not. The first episode was just a set up after all and there's only so much you can do with this type of story and set up

You know, I think what gets me the most about 2.43 seiin koukou danshi volley-bu, is that like, I've seen and read multiple sports anime/manga, or even just regular anime/manga, that start out with, well, a conflict or falling out between two major characters in the story (or sometimes even a random side character to add some backstory depth)
But my problem with so many of these conflicts, probably stems from 2 things.
1. The conflict is usually presented in past tense, like we dont even learn about the falling out until later and its through flashbacks.
And like dont get me wrong, this is done well and a great way to do these arcs dont get me wrong.
But they are like, always like this.
2.the falling out is usually always seen from the perspective of the "pure" protagonist or the one who was "hurt the most" by this conflict.
Essentially these falling outside and conflicts are almost always seen through the eyes of the one who isnt at fault or "has the least amount of blame" for said falling out.
And I hate it sometimes.
Keyword sometimes lol.
But really, and the odd time you get the story from the one who is "at fault" you know the dark edgy brooding one.
The conflict is almost always caused by their own internal/external problems, which often leads to-
A misunderstanding with pure character.
(Which can either cause pure chara to do/say something that WORSENS the other characters internal or other sort of conflict causing the falling out/fight.)
Or the pure character just misunderstood everyone and failed to communicate with the other character properly.
(There are plenty of other examples but I'm to lazy to write them)
And while it definetly adds depth to the characters, often times it's just eh.
Not because this way of writing these arcs is bad per-say, but because the lack of connection you have with it.
Due to the fact that these arcs are usually shown in past tense, and through only 1 characters eyes, you feel bad about the incident but you dont really, emotionally react to it you know?.
But then, suddenly, a sports anime with too much power came into being.
2.43 seiin koukou danshi volley-bu
Now this show had 2 (3 as of tomorrow) episodes, and an awesome novel being kindly translated by *seiin-translations* so if you want to consume another form of the story while waiting for new episodes highly recommend reading the novel.
Anyways-
The series quite literally starts you off with the conflict arc.
Which I actually wasnt expecting.
You are there during this conflict, you see it up close, you are experiencing the whole (or at least some of the whole) of the conflict first hand.
It's being set up right before your eyes, its painful and feels so angsty.
And the best part? There is no "pure" character filter being put on it.
Its two complex characters who suck at communication who are both genuinly at fault for what happened, while one may be more at fault than the other, it lies with them both.
It's a genuine painful, hurtful breakup, and you FEEL IT.
It wont be all better the next day, you can sense it.
This is the big turning part for their dynamic and relationship and how everything will develop.
It feels so fresh but really, it just WORKS with hooking you.
You, the reader/watcher experienced the conflict and breakup first hand.
You feel connected and invested and genuinly want to see then resolve things. You want to see the new dynamic this incident will create and that's so huge for me tbh.
Because alot of series fail to hook me with their flashback conflict arcs.
There are many I love, that are well written or even just genuinly enjoyable to read.
However, I very rarely see an arc like this, written how it's written and I absolutely adore it.
This is like a super pointless ramble at 1am, however I stand by my opinions on this and really think people should give the series a chance, even if it's just for how they handle the "conflict" arc.

AHHHHHHHHHHH
translation: MOMOHARU AND MADOKA???? WHY???
because I’m caught up in the translated manga and I’m SAD for them. Please Hinata-san I just want them to be happy I’m- why are only 160-odd chapters of some 600 translated this is bullshit????? I need to know what happens please I’m going to cry.
Also Ahiru No Sora Manga Spoilers below the cut (no screenshots tho) and also a healthy dose of me screaming because I literally just want my favorites to have happy endings.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?!??!?!
PLEASE. MOMOHARU ALL BUT CONFESSED. HE LITERALLY SAID “I BECAME AWARE OF YOU AND THOSE EMOTIONS MADE IT HARD FOR ME TO SO MUCH AS SAY GOOD LUCK TO YOU BEFORE A GAME” IN CHAPTER 162 AND HE NOR MADOKA DID JACKSHIT ABOUT IT THEY DECIDED TO “LIVE SEPARATE IN THE SAME WORLD” PLEASE YOU TWO MORONS I JUST WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY-
I don’t even??? Ship??? Them???? That much??? I mostly ship Momoharu with Sora -- though I also ship Sora with Tobi a lot, because yeet I’m a multishipper -- BUT PLEASE THESE CHILDREN DESERVE. HAPPINESS. I’M -AAAAAAAAAHHHHH.
WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THIS THEY’RE WORSE THAN GRADE-A GAY DISASTERS??? I DIDN’T KNOW STRAIGHT DISASTERS WERE A THING BUT APPARENTLY THEY ARE!!!
I mean I HC them both as pansexual whether they end up with each other or someone else I’m not making them straight just because they wind up in a heterosexual relationship sorry but STILL-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
I just want them to be happy, because I love them both, because Madoka is an astoundingly well written female character for a sports manga and I love her so much and Momoharu is one of my favs from the main team and BASICALLY - JUST - FEELINGS.
I also think they’re just a good fit for each other. Speaking it terms of relationships. I think Momoharu is reliable and stubborn as all shit and that’s kind of what Madoka needs, since her family has ditched her for the onsen and Yuuko has pointed out how abnormal that is, it got me thinking. She also needs someone to make her feel like she belongs. Momoharu needs someone who’s unafraid to be absolutely blunt with him and frankly, Madoka slapped Tobi, who at that point was arguably the sole scariest person around her -- there were like a dozen people behind him groaning because he had single-handedly beat them up. Fear? Sorry, don’t know her. And Momoharu is a grade-a dumbass, and he needs someone around to beat sense into him sometimes. His partner definitely needs to be unafraid to call him out on his shit, or they’ll wind up being a doormat, even if Momoharu doesn’t do that on purpose (Momoharu would never do that on purpose).
AND THEY BOTH DESERVE HUGS AND HAPPINESS??????
Anyway yeah that’s all.

Momoharu was really upset over hearing the news about Sora’s mother... and I dare say the song lyrics at the last screenshot really matched the picture well. He felt so guilty, he had a lot of feelings he wanted to convey to him about this whole situation, a lot of feelings which made him feel miserable and as a failure. He as a captain and as a friend now understood why this match was important.

hi, it’s the anon that asked about ahiru no sora! thank you for your detailed answer. i think i’ll try watching it first then check out the manga after. what sort of things should i expect when i start watching? 😊
Tumblr media
i’m glad you’re going to give it a try!! it’s been a hot minute since i’ve watched it but here’s a few things that made me love it on the first go, spoiler free of course!
Sora (the main protagonist) is like your typical sports anime protag, you know the sunshine character with seemingly unrealistic goals of being number one but i think his goals are a bit more realistic and grounded than other animes.
I think the biggest selling point of Ahiru no Sora is how realistic it feels. The main cast feels like teenaged boys not caricatures of teenagers. The adults feel like adults and not mouth pieces for hope speeches or one of gags. But this isnt to say AnS doesnt have its humor, it does.
Everything just feels more natrual and real in AnS and idk thats wbat drew me to it the most

Summer anime 2020
And it’s been three more months in 2020, not a lot of seasonal anime and it’s the start of the fall season! Here’s the review, or something! Wow, there’s really not a lot of stuff airing
{ Winter ‘18 }  { Spring ‘18 }  { Summer ‘18 }  { Fall ‘18 }  { Winter ‘19 } { Spring ‘19 }  { Summer ‘19 }  { Fall ‘19 }  { Winter ‘20 }  { Spring ‘20 }
We also watched new seasons of No Guns Life, Muhyo and Roji, SNAFU, Fire Force, Re:Zero (the anime that singlehandedly saved the entire season) and continuations of Ahiru no Sora, Fruits Basket and Great Pretender.
Appare Ranman!
Tumblr media
The show is about race cars and racing but until you actually get to that part, half the seasons comes around. The anime looked like it would be one of the best runners this season but it just stayed at the “it’s okay” point. Character development is present, the animation is smooth and really nice and the characters are memorable but not to that point that they make you care about them.
Deca-dence
Tumblr media
Up until one point it looked like it would be an awesome anime xD If you watch it, you will understand what I mean (otherwise it would be just a huge spoiler). The mentioned plot twist is unnecessary and kinda makes you back away from the show but nevertheless it is good. The story is engaging and there is always something happening, character development is present once again and the visuals are really nice. It is not something you would immediately recommend to a friend but it is definitely not a waste of time if you decide to watch it.
Mr Love: Queen's Choice
Tumblr media
This anime is based on an otome game about pretty rich boys and supernatural powers. Having played the game, I really have to say that the anime did a pretty good job! And it made me realize how cringey some scenes were haha I’ve seen some complaint about animation or so, but of course it can’t be as detail as the art in game, so I was pretty satisfied with that part too. The plot was condensed and better laid out, I actually got the feeling of it being a bit more interesting while animated. It can’t beat the game in a sense of it being more detailed or having more time with The Boys, but overall, it was well executed, some characters were introduced earlier and the pace hastened. Oh, and I found MC much more tolerable in the anime, maybe because there were less of her dumb monologues or unreliable storytelling haha (edit: the ending confused me)
The God of High School
Tumblr media
I read some of the webtoon and it’s pretty much the same except some minor things, I guess? The animation is more then exceptional and it’s kind of the reason why it’s still good anime. I can’t say the plot makes much sense or it’s like...good?...I’m not saying it’s bad, I just feel it could have been brought out better (or with more sense, it just feels like too many thing pushed in a small space). The plot is still interesting! I still highly recommend this anime to anyone who like watching fight anime because those scenes are really outstanding, you just want to keep rewatching them because they just FLOW. The characters are also likeable!
The Millionaire Detective – Balance: UNLIMITED
Tumblr media
Since I’m a sucker for detective shows, this one was a real gem. Everything from the animation, music, voices, humor and characters is really good. Basically a rich guy trying to solve everything with money decides to be a detective, his colleague who hates his money-can-do-everything attitude and add some murder mystery in the mix. Loved it!
The Misfit of Demon King Academy
Tumblr media
This is a really typical fantasy anime. You won’t see anything awe inspiring in this anime if that is what you are looking for. It is really cheesy, but still fun to watch. It’s not the best anime, but in this genre, it’s pretty great. It’s cliché and with over the top characters and plot, but somehow it just works! In the end, I’m happy that this anime was here this season because it made me laugh and feel refreshed!

Summer 2020 Anime Season
What I’m Watching:
Deca Dence is one of the better shows this season, probably the best one that started fresh this summer. It has a very strange setup that I won’t detail very much here to avoid spoilers. It’s strange in that it’s a fairly unique twist and in that they waited until episode two to actually drop that particular bomb (whereas most anime would definitely try to cram it into episode one). The bare bones premise of episode one is that there is a huge, mobile fortress that contains some of the last remnants of humanity as they try to survive in an apocalyptic world overrun by monsters of unknown origin that range in size from tiny insects to huge kaiju. A young girl named Natsume dreams of being one of the warriors who fight the monsters, but is instead given the lowly job of armor maintenence, where she meets the older, gruff Kaburagi whom she learns was once a famed warrior. Natsume’s relationship with Kaburagi sets off the actual plot, but the story takes several turns that I honestly didn’t see coming. The series is quite violent, with literally tons of monster blood flowing and plenty of human death, but it maintains an overall upbeat, adventurous feel, with some well-done humor and genuinely touching moments. The art is colorful and bright, with some truly impressive animation. It clearly has high production values. Natsume is a fun character (even if we’ve seen characters like her many times before). She’s your typical optimistic, never-give-up, spunky sort of girl but she works really well as a hero in this kind of story and is generally entertaining to watch. Kaburagi is also a fun character that we’ve seen the likes of before (the stern former soldier type with a heart of gold). Overall a great series and very high on my watch list.
Gibiate is an oddity. It’s a series that had the potential to be top tier. I mean this show could have been not only the best of the season, but possibly the best of the year. It has gorgeous character designs by Yoshitaka Amano. The voice acting is top notch. And the premise is awesome: In 1600, a samurai and a ninja are both suddenly transported to a modern, near future Japan that has been completely ravaged by a disease that turns humans into powerful, grotesque monsters. They fall in with a small group of survivors that have gathered around a couple of scientists and a doctor who are working on a cure. Sure, it’s not 100% original, but it’s an exciting premise that results in some great samurai and ninja action. The problem is, for all the show’s great ideas, the execution is totally flubbed. For starters, the animation budget is obviously quite a lot smaller than it needed to be. What should have been thrilling battles of katana and shuriken on monster violence end up just being sort of bland. Too many cut corners. The writing also suffers, with often nonsensical dialogue and character behaviors that are so illogical that they end up being unintentionally hilarious. A good example of this is how practically everyone in the group of survivors just takes the fact that these two guys are time travelers from the past totally in stride. Hardly anyone is surprised at all or even questions it. The show tries to dismiss the stupidity of this by having one character say, “Well we have these monsters running around so why not have people traveling here from the past?” Which is still dumb because he’s a doctor who has been studying the virus and knows how it works, scientifically. But he has no questions for the guys who show up out of nowhere claiming to be from 1600? Another example would be how the samurai and ninja react to modern technology. Basically, there’s very little reaction. They don’t even react to a freaking helicopter! They should be losing their minds over this stuff! Still though, despite the show’s many shortcomings, there remains a small nugget of greatness. I can almost imagine how fantastic this show would have been with decent production values. And because I can see that potential, I’m still watching and I’m actually enjoying it very much. The characters, poorly written as they are, somehow remain interesting. The visuals, despite being sabotaged by clunky animation, are still appealing. I know it’s strange to watch and enjoy a series because of what it COULD have been, rather than what it IS, but here we are. Surprisingly high on my watch list.
Koi to Producer is an otome series with very pretty art and a supernatural plot. It’s based on a Chinese phone game that I’ve never played but sounds a lot like Mystic Messenger in how the game is played. It follows a young woman trying to produce a television show about various rumors, urban legends, etc. who gets mixed up in the world of Evolvers (humans who have developed special powers). Of course four of these Evolvers are handsome single men who are very successful and clearly attracted to her. She also ends up becoming a target of Black Swan, a shady group studying Evolvers. The show is somewhat plot-heavy, in that it tends to focus a bit more on the overarching story than on the romance. This is fine by me. The men are handsome, but two of them look a little too similar to each other, making it hard to tell them apart when they’re both in the same scene. It’s nice that the heroine is an adult and a big part of the story is about her career, but other than that she’s a bit bland and could be switched out for any other bland otome heroine and no one would notice. So far the series has hinted at an interesting back story for her so I’ll just have to hope it follows through on that. I’m enjoying the show because it’s pleasant to look at and not boring, but it’s the lowest title on my watch list.
Appare Ranman is my overall favorite of the season, which is ironic because it actually began last season. It was put on hiatus due to the pandemic and resumed this season. If you remember the old cartoon Wacky Races, this is basically the anime version of that. It focuses largely on two Japanese men who end up stuck in California after some crazy hijinks: Appare, an aloof and eccentric mechanical genius, and Kosame, a straight-laced but genuinely kind samurai who had been given the thankless job of keeping Appare in line. Broke and lost in an unfamiliar land, the two of them decide to enter a cross-country race and use the prize money to get back to Japan. Along the way they meet a whole cast of wild, crazy, and fun characters (including my favorite, the lovely, badass, and determined Jing Xialian, the only woman in the race, who had to fight against sexism and discrimination just to get the opportunity to drive in the race). The series has a very fun vibe, but has enough serious moments to keep it from being a straight up comedy (the aforementioned discrimination felt very realistic, and at least two characters are still suffering emotional trauma from losing family members to violence when they were children). One of my favorite aspects is Appare himself. He pays absolutely no mind to social norms and doesn’t care in the slightest what anyone thinks of him. This resulted in his family back in Japan being ashamed of him and everyone else viewing him as a weirdo. But Appare doesn’t mind any of that, and happily pursues his dreams. An interesting scene early on is when Jing is grappling with the fact that she’ll never be accepted as a racer because she’s a woman. She’s clearly in emotional turmoil. Kosame, who is the kinder, more compassionate of the two leads, can’t really help her. He can sympathize with her plight, but his own rigid regard for social norms prevents him from telling Jing to just go ahead and be a racer, society and their expectations be damned. It’s Appare, the guy who seemingly has very little regard for, or interest in, other people, who encourages Jing to follow her dreams. To Appare, there’s absolutely no reason why Jing can’t be a racer. The fact that society refuses to accept her means nothing. Jing has the skill to be a racer. She should be a racer. The scene did a lot to endear Appare to me. Aside from great characters (and there are so many that I can’t possibly mention them all here), the animation and design work are amazing. The characters as well as the vehicles look fantastic. The music is also great, with my favorite opening and ending themes of the season. If you want totally fun and wild romp, you can’t go wrong with this series.
