Ch. 2 The Dream
Everything is white. The wind howls wildly and becomes deafening to the point she must cover her ears. The only break in the colorless sea is a blurry black dot. She takes a step forward but sinks into the ground to her mid-calf. Each forward step she takes, she sinks, having to sacrifice her hearing to push out with her arms. She trudges closer until she is nearly on top of it. She brushes away the slurry of flakes around it and picks it up. It's metallic, a pin of sorts. She examines it for only a moment before a bird swoop down to take the pin.
Carmen startles awake on the warm, volcanic rock, jabbing her elbow into a nearby stalagmite. She hisses and cups her elbow into her opposite hand and rubs viciously to try and soothe the pain. After the pins and needles disappear, she wipes her hands over her face and groans lowly. Her whole-body aches from sleeping on the rock, and she's drenched in a layer of sweat and morning mist. She jerks herself to her feet, frantically searching for some indication of the time; a futile endeavor once she realizes there's no clocks. She sprints outside to see the sun already above the horizon. After a quick curse, she drops and becomes one with her wolf form. The freshly brewed dream poured from her mind into the abyss of forgetting.
She sprints down the mountainside toward the center of the island, her heart and breath racing with her feet. Once she is within eyeshot of the central hut, she decreases her speed to a speed-walk while simultaneously shifting back into a human. Carmen sneaks in through the crowd to get her breakfast; easier said than done when everyone else keeps eyeing her with a smirk. She nabs a plate before her mother can see her, and retreats to the safety of her closest friends.
"Well, looks like someone had a late night." Teases Neyla.
Carmen raises an eyebrow in confusion, when Neyla points downward Carmen follows her finger. The realization strikes; she is still in her clothes from last night, and she sweaty. She rolls her eyes and scoffs before bowing her head to hide her face. She swallows the food with minimal chewing, only just realizing how hungry she is as she shoves another mouthful.
"Please tell me you weren't with Tess. You know she's nothing but trouble and you promised!" Begs Diana.
"I wasn't with Tess." Carmen mumbles.
"So then, who were you with?"
"No one."
"Ah. Classic 'sleep it off in a bush.' Been there. Would explain the clothes, but not your late arrival or flustered skin." States Alo.
"I wasn't sleeping in a bush either!" Snaps Carmen.
"Okay there's no need to get snappy." Neyla raises her hands in defense.
"I'm sorry. I'm just tired, I didn't sleep well last night."
"Well, if you weren't in a bush, nor at Tessa's, and didn't sleep well. Where were you? What were you doing?" Asks Diana.
Carmen looks up at them, she chews the inside of her lip before stealing a glance over her shoulder. She sees Ben and Clara sitting and talking with some tías (aunts). She swallows thickly then turns back to her group, all of them looking at her expectantly. After a moment of debating she sighs defeated, they'll find out one way or another.
"I-I went up the mountain." She mumbled.
The three of them scramble closer, screaming out "what?!" In perfect unison. Others glare their way but return to their meals when Carmen shushed them and motioned with her hands for them to sit back.
"What did you see?!"
"Nothing. Just like last time." Carmen said bitterly.
All of their shoulders collapse in disappointment. They look toward the table before Diana reaches out to take Carmen's hand. She retracts from the touch and hugs herself tightly. They say nothing but she can feel their sympathetic stares burning into her, the same stares she gets from everyone else.
"However..." She starts.
They lean over once again, the table squeaking lightly from their collective weight.
"I did have this strange dream but whenever I try to remember it's all fuzzy." She states.
Neyla gasps loudly and slaps her hands on the table. The others startle as Carmen stares at her before her eyes widen and she shakes her head.
"No. I know what you're thinking -"
"We need to see abuela!" She exclaims, cutting Carmen off.
Before Carmen can scurry off Neyla grabs her by the arm forcefully and drags her off. They make a pit stop at Carmen's home so she can change and look presentable. Abuela is very particular when it comes to how one represents themselves, and Carmen is the exact opposite of that expectation. She has to wear long sleeves and pants to cover her full-length tattoos, and hide her newest addition. She takes some soft nipple pads to put over her nipple piercings then wears a padded bra instead of a sports bra.
After she changes, she takes some concealer to hide the smaller tattoos behind her ears. Her neck tattoo and hands take the longest to cover, she has to make sure the makeup is blended well and unnoticeable. She does a once over to ensure everything is covered and that her piercings aren't visible. The final part is she removes the piercings from around her ears, leaving the studs on the bottom in. Then she begrudgingly wears closed toed shoes. She feels claustrophobic as she picks at her clothes to loosen then from her skin. It does very little to appease her.
Carmen only attempted to escape once but Neyla beat her to the punch by waiting for her outside her bedroom window. They walk together toward the southern side of the island where their elders like to gather to share stories, play games, and watch the littles. Carmen grumbles under her breath, it's not that she doesn't like her abuela but she knows exactly how to get under Carmen's skin. Unfortunately Neyla is correct, if anyone can help her with her dream it's their abuela. The front of the community center is completely open with tables and chairs out on the patio. Little kids run around in the grass, some of them are in their pup forms unable to transition on their own.
Carmen waves to the attendant who smiles back and points toward the hallway leading toward the central gardening area. The garden is where rare and endangered plants are kept in prestine condition. For some, this island holds the last of their species. In the center is abuela, she's hunched over a smaller bed of germinating seeds. Carefully replanting them using surgical like tools to avoid crushing the delicate pods. She looks up and smiles widely, after setting her tools aside she stands and hugs Neyla.
"hola mis amores. ¿Qué te trae por aquí?" (Hello my loves. What brings you here?)
"Hola abuela, en realidad vinimos a verte-" (hi grandma, we actually came to see you-) Neyla starts.
"¿Carmen finalmente encontró a su pareja? No pensé que esto sucedería mientras aún estaba viva." (has Carmen finally found her mate? I didn't think it would happen while I was still alive.)
Carmen groans and rolls her eyes while crossing her arms. Neyla hits her on the arm to knock it off but it's too late. Their abuela scoffs and takes off her hat. She waddles over to the gardening shed to put her tools away for the day, while they follow her.
"Ah clásico. Sabes que esa actitud es la razón por la que aún no has encontrado pareja y esos tatuajes. No creas que no sé nada de ellos. Las chicas hablan, ¿sabes? Nunca conseguirás que un hombre luzca así."(ah classic. You know that attitude is why you haven't found a mate yet, and those tattoos. Don't think I don't know about them. The girls talk you know. You'll never get a man looking like that.)
Carmen trembles, she wants to leave so badly but Neyla puts a reassuring hand on her arm. Their abuela does this every time, has done it since Carmen failed the first time. At first she could be the bigger person and ignore it, but it's really starting to get under her skin. All the passive aggressive comments about her weight, her attitude, her body. She huffs and sucks in a sharp breath to calm herself.
"Por eso vinimos a verte abuela. ¡Carmen lo intentó de nuevo y vio algo en la piscina! Sin embargo, necesita un poco de ayuda porque no podía distinguir qué era." (That's why we came to see you grandma. Carmen tried again and saw something in the pool! She needs a little help though because, she couldn't quite make out what it was. )
Neyla splurged on the details a little but it was enough for their abuela to gasp loudly. She hobbles excitedly from the garden to her room where she digs through an ancient looking chest. She takes out a book, some candles, and a string of wooden beads. She motions for them to follow her, and she leads them from the community center to their burial site to the far west.
Their burial site is not a mound full of headstones, rather an exquisite plant and flower garden beside the mountain. Every person is buried with their choice of flower, and the path is marked on each side with moonflowers to guide the souls onward. In the base of the mountain, there's a man-made cavern where an ofrenda wraps around the inside so those who no longer have family will always be remembered. Two elderly women are inside keeping the candles lit and praying to the goddess. They leave upon the arrival of the trio, carving a path through the Cempasúchils that blanket the floor.
Neyla waits outside as their abuela orders Carmen to lay in the center. She lights her candles, mumbles a prayer to their ancestors and goddess for guidance. Then she opens her book and chants another prayer before ordering Carmen to close her eyes.
Everything is white again, but she makes out the horizon in the distance. The sky darkens to night but she can still see clearly. The wind howls wildly once more, surrounding her in a flurry of white specks. It's snow. She hugs herself, now feeling the biting cold sink into her bones. She takes a step forward but sinks into the ground to her mid-calf. Each forward step she takes she sinks, but she keeps moving toward the black dot. She trudges closer until she can reach out and pick it up, this time clutching it close but there's no bird.
She examines it closer, it's diamond shape, with a full bloomed flower in the center with two rapiers crossing behind it. She brushes her thumb over the design, committing the feeling to memory. A laugh catches her off guard, she looks up and sees...a woman? She's more bird than woman. The entire body is wrapped in feathers, and she's wearing some sort of golden, bird- like mask. The woman laughs loudly and dissolves into a murder of crows all gunning for Carmen.
Carmen startles again, this time sitting up violently as all the candles surrounding her blow out. Her abuela clutches her chest in fright, falling backward onto her butt. Neyla runs in to help as Carmen breaths heavily. She has to draw that symbol before she forgets. Although, she can't draw to save her life but she knows someone who can.
Carmen shifts and takes off without a word to Neyla or abuela. She's ten times faster in her wolf form, running full speed and barely avoiding those walking around. She comes to a screeching halt and shifts back when she gets to her destination. The tattooist. The parlor is a gazebo made from the trunks of palm trees with the branches and leaves woven to make the canopy. There's a large, extremely built man, covered in more tattoos than her. He's bald with every visible inch of his skin covered in ink or piercings. He looks up from his drawing and smiles widely.
"Carmen!!!" He bellows.
He hugs her tightly and lifts her off the ground with a spin. He sets her down on the ground and holds his hands on his hips.
"What can I do for you Chica? Judging from the getup and make up, you just visited the abuelas and abuelos."
"Yeah. I'll tell you all about it but I need your help." She pants.
Carmen and the man sit underneath the canopy where he flips his pad to a fresh paper and listens to her tale. She tells him about her dream, forgoes the part about going up the mountain, and that she, unfortunately, had to seek help from her abuela but now needs help drawing something from her dream. He listens intently as she describes the pin in as much detail as she has the words for, only making minor changes when he shows her a finished product. Then she describes the bird mask the woman was wearing; it was gold with a long beak that goes past her neck with the entirety covering her face with golden strings attached from the beak to the mask. He finishes the drawing for both pieces and hands her the paper with the final products. They're perfect.
"Gracias Aleki! This is perfect." She praises.
"Not a problem. Anything for you Carmen. What do you plan on doing with them?" He asks.
There was only one thing she could do: she had to find out what this symbol stood for. After a brief conversation with Aleki, she makes her way to the library where she settles down behind one of the few computers the island has. The internet takes ages, hence why she wrote letters to Ben instead of emails, because the letters would get there faster. While she waits for the computer to turn on, and load, she begins her search with books. She starts with family crests but there's not much outside of the island's history of notable families. By the time the system loads, she continues her search into crests having a feeling that's the right track.
Nothing.
She huffs in defeat but then sits up and hits her forehead as a stupid idea comes to her: image searching. She scans the drawing and uploads it into an image finder for anything similar in design. Then she sees the exact replica after countless minutes of scrolling. She clicks the image and follows a trail of links until she comes upon a review website that she reads aloud.
"Dimitrescu wines, the finest wine made in the heart of Europe. For hundreds of years the Dimitrescu family has cultivated award winning wine for all tastes. Their most popular line having rich notes of - "
Carmen stops reading and switches her search into this Dimitrescu family but only finds how to purchase the wine and more reviews. She sits back in her seat and sighs. She's happy that she at least has a name and a starting point, but also defeated that Dimitrescu might not be real with how limited information there is. One thing she does know, is she has to go to Europe which makes her groan in despair. She hates the cold.

Alright guys it’s time again
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Donna shifts in her chair in the holy chapel of Mother Miranda awaiting for the black god’s arrival. She could hear the distant talking of the other lords but her mind was elsewhere, on Natasha. It’s been three days since she offered her home to the former wife of Alcina Dimitrescu and expecting mother. Natasha had told her she found out a week earlier before she caught the large woman being unfaithful.
A child.
Donna liked children. She never been around them a whole lot but she did like watching them play whenever she went in the village. Deep down she always wanted to become a mother. It was why she made dolls and treated Angie like one.
It reminded her when she was almost a mother…
“Donna?” Karl’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts as she jolts looking up at the ruggish man.
Karl stood in his usual attire wielding his large hammer as he looked at her through his round black shades. “You okay?” He asked her, slight concern in his voice. Heisenberg usually showed no interest to the other lords but out of all of them he did seem to somewhat care for the dollmaker. He just got annoyed by Angie whenever she opened her wooden mouth.
Nodding her head she made a gesture with her hand to reassure him.
“You miss her too eh?” He asked as his face fell a bit.
“Of course she misses her! We all do, hammerhead!” Angie’s voice rang out as she runs past him to climb back into Donna’s lap.
“Is she-is she coming back?” Moreau asks coming around from his seat shuffling towards the other two lords. None of them try to flinch away from him.
“She’s not coming back, fish breath! She’s probably never coming back!” Angie says as Donna nudged her. “What? I’m only telling the truth! Better be truthful than to lie!” She says folding her little arms.
This seem to set the fish like being into despair as he lets out a loud wail of a cry. “But but she said she would watch the little mermaid with me and paint the inside of my house like the ocean! She said she would always be my friend!” He continues wailing as he suddenly vomits up acid onto the church’s floor.
“Pull yourself together, Sal! She only left because of that big bitch! It’s all her fault!” Heisenberg snapped as he lit up his cigar.
All conversation ceased as the doors to the chapel opens causing all four heads to turn towards the newest arrival.
Lady Dimitrescu ducks under the double doors before straightening, her golden eyes looking between the others. Lady Dimitrescu was one of power and confidence. She was intimidating, calculating, and cold hearted. Most of the villagers feared her and the trap that awaits in the castle.
But the other lords now had something to hold above her head that was even bigger than her ego.
“Good afternoon to you all.” Alcina says making her way to her custom made chair.
Angie was the first to respond.
“Welcome back cheater!” She shouts from Donna’s lap.
“Well well Alcina I gotta give it to you, I knew you was low from the beginning but I never knew you were this low. “ Heisenberg said as he places his hammer down leaning on it.
“Say what you want Heisenberg, but you don’t know the full story.” Alcina grinds out sitting down. Now that she was closer Donna took time to study her. The first thing she noticed was her makeup was off, where her usual pristine white skin was now showed areas of bluish grey, as if the countess had rushed or just forgot to apply the makeup on correctly. Her eyes, usually filled with determination and fury were replaced with sadness and depletion. Bags also seem to have formed under them signaling she haven’t been getting enough sleep or was too stressed. Maybe both. She was still ethereally beautiful but there hints of unkempt.
“Oh well do enlighten us dear sister.” Heisenberg said grinding out on the word sister. He only referred to her as that to get under her skin. And it was working. “Was the sex life just not enough for you? Your appetite too big you had to fuck someone else, an employee of yours at that. Needed some of that young pussy? Wanted something new than the old? Did your little toy give a better sloppy?”
“THAT IS ENOUGH!” Alcina snaps jumping up causing Donna to flinch in her seat clutching Angie.
“Oh that’s enough?” Heisenberg shouted back gripping his hammer. “You always said men were low down dirty dogs that would hump anything that moved. So I guess in your books you’re one of them, a low down dirty bitch in heat who would hump just about anything that moves.”
“Oooooo.” Both Angie and Sal says watching the argument with gleeful eyes.
“Why you nimrod of a-“ Alcina growls out starting to unsheath her claws when the loud caw of crows could be heard from outside.
“Shit.” Karl mutters before going back to his assigned chair.
Quickly Alcina got herself together before sitting down, smoothing out her dress.
Everyone seem to go quiet as the room went still, the sound of crows still ringing out.
Nobody dared say anything else.
Not when she had arrived.
Black feathers floated in the room as the black god appeared seemingly out of thin air. Her bird like mask concealed her face, but Donna could still see her icy blue eyes looking at everyone. Analyzing, calculating.
“Ah my dearest children, it’s so good to see you all again.” Miranda starts, her voice oozing like honey. Her head turns eyeing each lord with fake adoration. Salvatore and Alcina, who seem to beam in excitement while Donna and Heisenberg were indifferent.
“I hope you two weren’t trying to kill each other while I was gone.” She says referring to Alcina and Heisenberg. The two shared a look before Heisenberg faced the different direction letting out a puff of smoke.
“No Mother Miranda, I can assure you none of that happened in your absence.” Alcina answers dipping her head respectfully.
“Good. However I sense some tension in the room, care to enlighten me?” The black god asks turning to face the tall woman from her podium.
Clutching the sides of the armrests Alcina’s face slightly drops as she answers, “It’s Natasha. She caught me in bed with another and got rightfully upset.” Her usual confidence was now replaced with a utter depletion.
Miranda lets out an amused hum. “I see. Anyone would be upset if they caught their partner sleeping around. But I’m sure you’ll be able to charm her back into her good graces. Hopefully she hasn’t kicked you out of your bedroom.” She adds before chuckling. The others stayed silent not joining in on her joke.
“I don’t think so, Mother Miranda. I probably won’t ever see her again.” Alcina responded with a choked sob.
“Whatever do you mean, child?” Miranda asks and Donna could hear the undertone of venom in her words. A shiver went down her spine.
“She’s…Natasha has left the village. She brought a plane ticket back home a few days ago, I reckon she’s already back in America with her family.” Cutting her eyes to the ground the countess shifts uncomfortably in her seat. She hated being put in a bad light, especially from Mother Miranda. She was supposed to be the perfect child after all.
For a few seconds Miranda didn’t speak and everyone could sense the anger rising up.
“You allowed your wife, who has the same power as you, to leave? Have you lost your ever loving mind?” Miranda shrieks before bursting into feathers reappearing in front of Alcina.
“Mother Miranda please! She snuck out when we was all asleep, my daughters alerted me and they tried to bring her back, but you know how Natasha is, she’s very good at outsmarting people.” Alcina says looking at the black god with pleading eyes.
A choked sob escapes from her lips as the cloaked woman grabs the countess by the throat pulling her in closer to her masked face.
“So she was able escape from your so called excellent huntresses of daughters? And she was able to pass the barrier without getting mauled by the lycans? I knew that woman was trouble from the moment I first laid eyes on her!” She sneered.
“Why would it matter if she left the village anyway?”Heisenberg asks as he watched from his seat. He may have hated Alcina but even this was going too far and making him uncomfortable.
Turning her head towards him still gripping Alcina’s throat Miranda’s cold eyes bore into him through the mask.
“Don’t you see boy? If the villagers hear one of the lord’s partners has fled it’ll give them the idea to try as well. It’ll put us all in a bad light and we cannot afford to lose the villagers’ devotion to us. It’s one thing for it to be some random foolish human to make an attempt, but this was the partner of a lord, they’ll start questioning our leadership. It doesn’t help that you couldn’t control her.” She snaps at Alcina.
“What can we do, Mother?” Sal asks, trying his best to get some form of approval from the black god.
“We’ll find her. She’s been gone for only a few days before my return, correct? That means she could possibly still be in Romania. And even if she is in America, I have my ways to locate her.” She says releasing her grip on Alcina’s throat as she sputtered and gasp for air. She faced Alcina with determination in her eyes.
“You are the cause of this little fuck up so you’ll fix it, have your daughters go out into the nearest towns and cities. If you have any form of contact with her family reach out to them. Do whatever you need to do to get her back here.”
Leaning in close Miranda whispers, “If you don’t it’ll be you and your entire bloodline’s demise. “ She sneers before turning to face the others. “You will also find her, report back to me on your findings. I’ll join in once I have fully recovered from my trip.”
Strutting back to the podium she gives the lords one last look. “I hope one of you find her before I do, I can’t promise she’ll return in one piece.” She adds chuckling darkly before erupting into crows.
They have been dismissed.
For a moment none of them got up immediately, too disturbed by the black god’s clear threat. Beside her Alcina quietly sobbed in her hands, chest heaving. Donna wanted to comfort her, to try to calm her down, but she had to get back to the house and fast. She had to make sure Natasha was okay. Perhaps she made a big mistake of trying to keep her here within the village. But she will do whatever in her power to keep the woman safe from Miranda’s wrath.
Even if she died trying.
Whew this was a long ass chapter, but things are heating up now. I hope you enjoyed. Also I tried to have it where they weren’t too mean to Sal 🥺

Scenarios!!
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu having to Break up with you
because that b!tch Miranda forced her to.
Tumblr media
(GIF credits)
It was storming rapidly outside as I lit up my cigarette stick to calm down after dancing with my drega mea. I couldn't be more happier having to spend time with my beloved.
The phone rang suddenly as I blew away the smoke, taking another puff and blew before sitting down and picked it up. "Mother Miranda." She was at it again with the ceremony. Like if I'd care one bit about the hell of that event. "And more thing, Alcina. I suggest you break that relationship up right now or else I'll have her served to the lycans." "Mother Miranda!" "Served it is." "No! I...understand..the importance of the ceremony is more than my relationship..." "Very well."
I sighed hanging up and looked at my reflection in the mirror seeing a tear down my cheek. Quickly wiping it off, I dialed her number. I can't. She picked up almost immediately, "Alcina! Hello! Would you like to join your daughters and I's tea party at Cassandras bedroom?" Just listen how joyious her voice is...she's dearing and sweet, I don't want to break her heart.."No my...No. Our relationship is off. We're over." "Wait Alcina what do you mean!?-" I couldn't bare to listen to her voice crack..even if I didn't I know she's crying hurt and all because I had to.
Trust me sweet heart I didn't want to either...I'll love you from a distance..

Beauty and Her Beast: Summary and Ch.1
A Salvatore Moreau x Female!FishMutant!oc fic based on this idea I had the other day that a very specific subset of the fanfom went absolutely apeshit for, which I'm here for and decided to act on. I can't make any promises for consistent uploading or even a finishes product by the end of this, but so long as im still interested in working on it, I'll keep working on it, and if im not, then I wont, plain and simple. Anyways, here's the summary and chapter 1, please let me know what you think of the story so far, i hope you all enjoy (you'd better all enjoy), and I can't wait to see you all again for chapter 2. Bye! <333 (Link to ao3 posting will be in comments so check there if you want to read it there instead)
Warning: This fic is rated NSFW and contains graphic depictions of things some people may find disturbing or alarming, including, but not limited to: violence, gore, unhealthy family relationships, Oedipus complexes, gratuitous amount of pornographic literature, ableist language, physical, mental, and emotional abuse, etc. If you are someone who does not enjoy fiction with these elements in them, then I suggest you refrain from reading this, because this fic will have all that, and probably a lot more. So, this is your first and final warning to turn around and go somewhere else if stuff like this just isn't your vibe, because from this point forward, your emotional wellbeing is in your own hands, and I will not be accepting blame if you disregarded my warnings and ended up reading something you didn't like. Idk why I feel compelled to write one of these despite this being Resident Evil fanfic, but I figured I'd cover my ass just in case.
Summary:
Now, I’m sure everyone already knows the ancient tales that tell of a beautiful young woman slowly falling in love with a horrific monstrosity of a man. The pure and true love this innocent beauty comes to feel for him, despite his terrifying appearance, is the key that breaks the cruel and twisted curse under which he’d been kept prisoner. This allows the man behind the monster to not only return to his true human form, but then go on to live his Happily Ever After with the beauty who saved him. Everyone already knows of these tales, as well as the messages behind them, however that is not quite the way this particular tale plays out.
The tale I am about to tell bears many similarities to the one above, however there are also quite a few important differences. For while the original detailed a beauty falling for a monster because of the kind and loving man he was behind his hideous exterior, this is a tale of a beauty, with a few monstrous qualities of her own, falling in love with a kind and loving monster, not at all despite his grotesque appearance, but rather, in part, because of it.
This is a tale, where the Beast still falls for his Beauty first, but the Beauty is the one who will be pursuing her Beast.
Chapter 1: Mother's Gift
Few of those who lived isolated from the outer world, high up in the mountains of Romania, would expect anyone of reasonable sanity to be out traveling in this hellish sort of weather. The wind howling a demonic high pitched tune; snow, sleet, and hail pounding into the ground like an endless shower of bullets from the heavens; and hungry lycans still roaming the area, tirelessly looking for their next meal, would be enough to incentivize even the strongest of mortal men to seek shelter away from the deadly conditions of the outside.
A man by the name of Salvatore Moreau however, one of the 4 lords of this mountain region who lived in the reservoir just past the windmills, did not appear terribly concerned with what other people thought of the traveling conditions. Completely unbothered by the horrifying weather and threat of suddenly being ground into doggy food, the hooded man trudged his way through the dark and barely maintained snow paths. Starting at the reservoir and making his way toward the village, Salvatore moved as quickly as his deformed body would permit, an unusually chipper spring added to his lumbering hobble of a walk.
Mother had a gift for him.
Yes, a truly joyous day it was whenever Mother Miranda called upon him to join her and the other lords for a meeting. Miranda was usually so busy with her experiments that she rarely had time to visit her children outside of these ‘family meetings’ they’d been having recently. However, it would appear as though Mother has come up with a solution of some kind to this problem and wishes to share it with them in person. Whatever this solution is, the mutated man has no idea, as Mother Miranda had been quite vague in her message, however the fact that Salvatore was being given the chance to see his radiant mother AND receive a gift from her, all in one day, was more than enough to make up for how agonizingly lonely he’s been these last few months since winter set in, as well as how agonizing it was for him to walk in this weather.
Salvatore arrived at the usual meeting site just as the clock struck 8pm, precisely as Mother had instructed. However, much to the hooded man’s confusion, when he turned the handle on the large wooden door to enter the room, he quickly realized that he was currently the only one present. This was especially strange considering that, usually, at least one of his siblings was always present a little earlier than necessary, usually Alcina or Karl, but occasionally Donna with Angie in tow.
Mother had clearly said in her message that she wanted to start the meeting at 8pm sharply, so where on earth is everyone?
“Moreau” Mother Miranda’s voice called out, immediately pushing all thoughts from Salvatore’s brain as her powerful, yet lucious voice echoed against the halls of the room like a choir of angels.
“Y-yes! W-what… is it… M-mother Miranda? I-i-i came to you… j-just like you asked” Salvatore responds, bowing his head in reverence as he slowly crosses the room and approaches the otherworldly woman.
“So you did, though I suppose you coming exactly when I call makes the most sense. You always were the most obedient of my children” the woman remarks with casual disdain, her voice devoid of any sort of motherly affection or tenderness. Despite the clear disgust and disregard with which Miranda regards the hooded man standing before her, her words light Salvatore’s soul ablaze, filling his mangled body with intense feelings of heat and desire that melt his heart of the cold, icy frost that had frozen it over the course of the long winter.
“Y-y-yes, y-yes of c-course, Mother M-Miranda! I-i would… I would do any-anything... for y-you. A-anything you s-say... anything y-you n-need… I’d d-do it... f-for you. W-without question!” The deformed man says, practically getting on his hands and knees and crawling as he neared closer and closer to Miranda, stopping only when he’d arrived just in front of the steps the raven mother stood upon, his gaze trained at the ground as he knelt at her feet, awaiting his fate at his mother’s hands.
“I know you would, Moreau,” Miranda says cooly, gently brushing the palm of her hand against the black fabric that covers the top of Salvatore’s head, “which is why I’ve called you here today; to reward you for your loyalty and service to me thus far.”
Salvatore sinks sharp and jagged teeth into the flesh of his bottom lip, nearly drawing blood as he desperately tries to silence the needy whine that wanted to tear its way from the back of his throat. His body shivered and twitched in unimaginable delight from the sudden tender caress to his sensitive skin. How long had it been since someone had touched him so gently? How long since someone had spoken to him with such kind and soft words. Took the time to gather presents as a reward for years of faithful servitude? How long since someone had loved him like this?
‘Too long’ the disfigured man sighed to himself, reveling in the soft, gentle contact for as long as he is able.
“Moreau. Look at me” Miranda commanded firmly, and despite not wanting his beloved Mother to be forced to bear witness to his hideous face, he complied, lifting his head up and back to allow his gaze to lift from the floor and up at the glowing figure that was his Mother, his beautiful, incredible, intelligent, majestic mother.
The light shining down from above illuminates Miranda from behind. From Salvatore’s perspective on the floor, the light darkens her face and most of her torso and waist, giving a softened, almost ethereal glow around Miranda’s figure. This, along with the rest of her garb, makes Mother Miranda appear even more like the holy woman that Salvatore naively believes she still is. Despite her less than affectionate treatment of him thus far, Salvatore still stared up at the darkened face of Mother Miranda, his eyes shining with reverence, love, desire, and unending devotion.
“Y-yes... Mother?” Salvatore breathed, barely able to speak above a whisper as Miranda stepped away, gesturing for him to follow.
“Are you ready to collect your gift now?” The raven mother asks, speaking more softly than before and even holding her hand out to Salvatore, her pose and appearance mirroring that of a powerful god taking mercy upon her wretched follower, reaching out to reward the years of faithful servitude and worship.
Salvatore, barely able to keep himself calm as he stumbled to his feet, did not grace Mother Miranda’s question with a proper response, instead practically racing to take the woman’s outstretched hand in his own.
“I’m ready Mother… I-I’m ready for... my g-gift now… can I… c-can I have it n-now… p-please?” Salvatore begs, pulling at Miranda’s hand like an overly excited child, seemingly unaware of the disgusted twist of her face when the hooded man’s cold, slimy fingers firmly latched onto hers.
“Of course, my child” Mother Miranda says, pulling her hand back from Salvatore’s and instead placing it along the man’s hunched back, beginning to guide him to wherever it was the raven mother had hidden his gift.
As Salvatore limped next to Mother Miranda, the deformed man couldn’t help but wonder what exactly it was that Mother had gotten for him. Was it a new cloak, to replace the worn one he was currently wearing? Perhaps a new set of romance films so he didn’t have to rewatch the ones he already owned over and over again anymore? Or maybe it was something to help with his digestion?
It would be nice to get his chronic acid reflux under control again.
Regardless of what the gift actually turned out to be however, Salvatore was merely pleased that he was finally getting a chance to spend time with Mother Miranda all by himself for a change.
Maybe, if he was lucky, she’d even agree to hold him, just like she always did back when he was still undergoing cadou treatment.
Oh how wonderful that would be!

Castle Dimitrescu, Office - November, 2021
The concepts of 'right' and 'wrong' had lost their meaning a long time ago. The human side of Cassandra would always be there, deep down in the realms of her memories, to remind her murdering was 'wrong'. However, it was in a constant conflict with her new instincts, that screamed for blood. She needed blood. Without blood, her mutated body wasn't capable of fully functioning.
Some humans would even agree to let them cut them open and take some blood, only enough to maintain their health, in some sort of wicked kink.
But she was a born hunter. An excellent predator. She liked the adrenaline of chasing her prey. She liked to hear them screaming, begging and struggling to escape from their imminent fate.
She liked death. It was her concept of fun. And, sometimes, 'wrong' was the best concept of fun.
The bruises on her skin suggested she was lacking blood again. Fresh blood. Bela's blood bags weren't completely effective for their bodies.
What were those freaks who attacked her back in the forest anyways? At first, she assumed Daniela was playing a prank on her. But those were not blowfly swarms. They seemed to be bees.
No one in the village had the same mutation as Cassandra and her sisters - so far. Maybe someone, devoted enough, took Miranda's job and started testing new experiments. Lady Dimitrescu should pay Salvatore Moreau a visit. He'd be the first suspect.
"Mother, have you been with the other Lords lately?" She asked during breakfast.
"I've been spared of this distasteful obligation, Cassandra," the woman told. "But I visited Donna a few times. Why?"
"Nothing. I was just... wondering if any of them could try to continue Miranda's work."
"Moreau has no intelligence for that. As for Heisenberg, he could be trying to obtain some new form of power. You're right. We should keep an eye on him."
Their conversation was interrupted by Mrs. Petrova. Luiza, a sort of leader of the villagers, invaded the castle for an emergency meeting with Lady Dimitrescu. The presence of her three daughters was also being requested.
"Any ideas of what this is about?" Bela asked in a low voice as they followed their mother and the hysterical woman to the main office.
Both of the youngest sisters shrugged. They really had no idea.
"Two villagers went missing last night! They were found dead this morning." The woman leaned against the table, lunging forward to be closer to Lady Dimitrescu while she continued to yell. "We had a deal, Alcina! The Lords would stay away from the villagers and we'd ensure your protection against the BSAA."
"What are you insinuating, Luiza?" Alcina crossed her long legs and raised an eyebrow. If they were, indeed, guilty for the incident, the villagers' remains surely wouldn't be found.
The woman started to pace around the office as if she was in some kind of tribunal, ready to point a culprit for her accusations.
"One villager, however, was able to escape. Do you know what he told? That he was chased and attacked by a swarm of flies! Your three daughters were in the festival last night. Isn't it a coincidence?"
At the same time, the three girls started to protest and voice insults at the woman. Alcina gave them a signal to stop.
"They were selling our wine. They were too busy for any games or entertainment. And they wouldn't violate our pact. They were present when it was sealed. Isn't that right, daughters?"
Their mother stared at them, expecting them to give an appropriate answer and prove the human female how wrong she was on her accusations. But at the same time, she didn't fully trust them. They had let her down many times in the past, breaking rules and disobeying her orders.
"I was working at the stall," Bela was the first one to speak. "The whole time. Everyone will be able to confirm it."
"I... I was mostly at the stall," Daniela added. Her cheeks blushed a little bit, she was certainly pursuing some affection around the festival. "I left for a while to attract... costumers. A few villagers can confirm that. I can give their names, if necessary."
"I only left for a couple of hours to have some booze," it was Cassandra's turn. She was spread on the couch, resting her legs on a coffee table as she stared at her nails. "Elena can confirm that."
"I've already spoken to Elena Lupu," Luiza announced, loud and firm. "She said you were last seen at the forest, with some girl."
And suddenly everyone in the room was staring at Cassandra again.
"I was, it's true. But it's not what it seems."
She'd have no problems to admit if she had been seen alone in the forest with any woman. But not that woman. She had a reputation to keep. Nobody could even dream she had already slept with Gabriela Rodriguez.
"I was giving my servant, Gabriela Rodriguez, some shooting lessons. And then, we were attacked by some creatures and ran back to the castle. This is what happened."
"What kind of creatures, Ms. Cassandra?" Luiza asked, questioning her story, in a tone suggesting she could be inventing it to get away with the crime.
The word sounded stupid to be said aloud. Especially when, accordingly to the BSAA database, she fell under that same category too.
"Bio-Weapons," she told. "Humanoid creatures who could shape into a swarm of bees."
Luiza let out a small and sarcastic laugh.
"Ironically, no?" She asked. "The only creatures known to have the ability to shape into a swarm of insects are you and your sisters."
"I've been harmed!" Cassandra exhibited her wounded arms. "Gabriela was attacked too. I'll call her, she will confirm it for me."
"She better. Or you'll be in serious trouble this time, Cassandra."
Lady Dimitrescu requested Mrs. Petrova's presence, she asked the housekeeper to bring their newest servant. Cassandra kept staring at her nails. What if Gabriela hadn't made back to the castle? She seemed injured and weak but... she was tough, right? She probably found a way to escape those monsters, just like she had escaped her claws back in her personal study.
"Ms. Rodriguez hasn't presented herself to her duties this morning," Mrs. Petrova returned with some news. "The other maids haven't seen her either. We knocked at her bedroom and obtained no answer."
Luiza stood up and gave all the four Dimitrescu women one last threatening gaze.
"You have until the end of the day," she declared. "Otherwise, I'll be calling a trial between the villagers and the other Lords. This will be the end for House Dimitrescu."

Castle Dimitrescu, Woods - November, 2021
"IN DETAILS, CASSANDRA," Alcina shouted. "Details! I want to know exactly why and when you were in the forest with some human girl"
Cassandra told the story once more. She told her family about their stupid shooting competition and how it attracted the attention of the humanoid creatures, who chased and attacked them in the woods.
"And where is she now? Why didn't she came home with you?"
"I... I..." her mother would kill her for sure if she knew the truth. Cassandra left Gabriela to die. She refused to help her out of revenge. "We split. I didn't see where she went."
"Go back to the forest," Lady Dimitrescu ordered. "Find this girl and bring her home. For your own sake, I hope she's alive."
"But... you do believe me, right? I didn't kill those mortals!"
"I believe you, daughter. But they won't. Not without proof."
The brunette rushed back to Gabriela's bedroom and unlocked the door. Maybe she was still asleep or too weak to leave the bed. Idiotic assumption. The bed was still done. She never returned home from the festival.
"Fuck!" Cassandra kicked the wall. "Fuck! Fuck!"
Without any hesitation, she shaped into flies and flew to the forest. If Gabriela was dead, she had to find her corpse before anybody else did. It would be only manner to obtain some evidence about the nature of the creatures who attacked them.
"Where are you, bitch?" She repeated, surrounding the area. "You can't be dead... you can't!"
A cell phone ringing caught her attention. She shaped back into her human form to collect the device, partially smashed under a rock.
"Samuel," that was the name written on the screen. It sounded familiar. That was the man Gabriela was speaking to the other night. Probably the one she referred as her adoptive father.
Cassandra shoved the cell phone on her pocket and kept following the trail her instincts pointed. Some markings on the dirt drove her straight to the lake.
And there was she. The small female figure lying on her stomach, right next to the water. To save herself from the swarms, she had probably jumped into the cold lake.
"There you are," Cassandra kneeled down, turning her around. The girl was unconscious. Her lips were blue and her skin completely pale and cold.
Severe hypothermia. She recognized those signals anywhere. She learned to live with them from the moment she became a vampire. Gabriela's pulse was very weak. If nothing was done fast, she'd definitely die. All she had to do was to feed her some of her blood. Her mutation would restore the human girl's health almost immediately.
The Dimitrescu daughter positioned her on her lap, holding her head steady. Then, she opened a gash on her own wrist, feeding her blood into Gabriela's mouth.
"Drink it..." she had never done that for a human before. She witnessed Daniela doing it countless times, when she attempted to heal the maids she accidentally harmed. Or even Bela, when she tried to save Aleena. "Come on... just... get fucking better!"
Cassandra noticed there was some blood on the hand she was supporting the girl's head. Not even the wound on Gabriela's temple seemed to be healing. Her blood properties were too weak right now. She hadn't even healed herself yet.
She had to find another manner to raise Gabriela's temperature. Right now.
Taking her into her arms, she moved to the castle as fast as she could, directly to her bedroom's window. Nobody could find out about that. They'd question, they'd judge her. Especially if the young servant died.
"Okay..." she removed Gabriela's wet clothes, replacing them with some of her own, clean and dry. Then, she wrapped her around some heavy blankets and placed her in front of the fire place. Just like Alcina did, anytime they were affected by the cold. "You will be okay now... You'll get better now, your foolish humanthing..."
The brunette sat down in front of her and waited, impatient. At some point, it was obvious Gabriela wasn't like her or her sisters. It wasn't being enough. She wasn't getting better.
She needed a doctor. Right now.
----------
Eastern Europe, Road - November, 2021
It was the most stupid and crazy thing Alcina Dimitrescu's middle daughter had done in her entire life. She should've asked for help. She should've admitted her mistake.
But she didn't. Instead, she went to her closet and wore the clothes she kept from the last maid she murdered, Rebecca. For Cassandra's luck, they fit quite well. The hood of the jacket was enough to cover the scar on her head and those pants... well, they were way more comfortable than wearing fancy dresses all the time. She could finally understand Bela and Daniela's tastes for modern clothes.
Gabriela was resting by her side on the seat of Aleena's old truck. The villagers had repaired it for Daniela to use, after Bela's girlfriend gifted it to her. She rarely used it though. Alcina wouldn't allow it.
Cassandra obviously also didn't ask for permission.
"Okay..." she checked the map on her cell phone. They were almost reaching the nearest town. While it wasn't so big, it had a hospital where Gabriela would receive the care she needed. "Almost there."
She checked her pulse once more. It was a little bit stronger now, but still dangerously unstable. Her temperature hadn't raised enough to improve her body functions.
"Don't you even dare to die, do you understand?!" Cassandra yelled, as if Gabriela could hear it. "If you die, my whole family dies! Because of me! I need you... I need you to be alive."
The civilization started to show its colors through the truck's windows. Cassandra watched it mesmerized. She had seen pictures, videos or even heard stories, but nothing felt like the sensation of being in the real world. They had multiple different stores, buildings, houses... the streets were filled with cars and people. There was noise. There were many different smells in the air. There was some kind of agitation a life secluded in a castle could never provide. She smiled.
Following some next instructions, she parked at the hospital's parking lot. That was a hard thing to do. Why the fuck was she supposed to fit that old, huge piece of junk into a small square? Couldn't she just leave it anywhere? She had more important business to take care of! In the end, a security guard assumed she was too nervous about Gabriela's situation and offered her some help.
"Civilized manthing," Cassandra nodded, as a form of praise. "Here. Take it."
She took a bill out of her pocket and handed it to him. The man's eyes went wide in shock.
"Do you need help to..."
"No," she took Gabriela in her arms and started walking, headed to the hospital's entrance. "Just go."
What was she supposed to do next? What would Bela do? Her older sister would act polite and ask someone for information. She wasn't like Bela. She was more like her mother. And what she did next, was exactly what Alcina would do for her daughters.
"SHE NEEDS HELP!" Cassandra shouted as soon as she stepped inside the hall. "RIGHT NOW!"
Everybody stopped to look at her. She didn't care. She attracted attention and that was really what she was aiming for.
"Miss..." a nurse came to her direction, "I need you to sit down and be patient. A doctor will be coming to see you soon."
"She's dying! She needs a doctor immediately!"
"Okay..."
The nurse realized the situation was more serious than it seemed. She called for assistance. A group came and placed Gabriela on a gurney, moving her to a secluded area where a doctor would be seeing her.
Cassandra started to follow them, but she was stopped.
"Miss, I need you to wait here outside. Meanwhile, you need to fill some papers at the reception."
She did as told. The receptionist didn't look any friendly. In fact, she barely looked her in the eyes. She just started to shoot thousands of questions, making it seem more like an interrogation.
"You found her in the woods?" She asked, suspiciously.
"Yes. By the lake."
"And she was already unconscious?"
"Yes. I already said that."
"Why did it take you so long to bring her to the hospital? You should have called emergency."
"I live in a goddamn village in the middle of nowhere. There are no doctors there. It would take too long for help to come."
"And she is yours... I mean, the papers can only be signed by a family relative or a significant other."
"She's my..." Cassandra struggled, but the word eventually came out. Saying it aloud wouldn't make it real. It was an innocent lie. A lie to benefit both of them. "Girlfriend."
----------
Eastern Europe, Hospital - November, 2021
Cassandra wasn't good at waiting, but wandering around the hospital's corridors was being quite an experience. She discovered a new passion, the coffee machines. They offered a diversity of tasty, warm and delicious drinks. If she ruled the castle, she'd fire all their servants, and replace them with a few of those.
Then, she stopped by the gift shop. She bought Gabriela a 'Frozen' themed card. It seemed insulting enough, considering her condition. She also took some magazines to occupy her time while she still had to wait.
At some moment, she stood by the nursery's glass observing the newborns.
"Gross," she thought. She'd never become a mother herself, which was good. She'd never be able to raise a kid.
Closing her eyes, she attempted to imagine how it used to be like being an infant. Unlike Bela, she never had any flashbacks of her human life. She imagined her younger brother and how she should spend hours mentoring him into hunting in the woods.
Such a depressing thought. She shrugged. Maybe she needed more coffee. Or one of those snacks the other machines had to offer.
Nobody seemed to be looking. Using a small group of her flies, she quickly snatched the snacks from inside the glass display. She'd need some extra. After all, Gabriela would probably be hungry when she woke up.
Did she even like chocolate? Everybody did. She shouldn't be different. Which one should be her favorite? Cassandra liked the one with peanut butter.
At the reception, the Dimitrescu daughter watched amused as a man started to yell at the nasty receptionist.
"My wife needs this ultrasound done, right now!" He was wearing a fancy suit. He didn't look like the kind who lived in that hellhole. He probably went to that town to spend holidays with his family, when his pregnant wife started to face some trouble.
"Sir, you need to calm down," the woman told. "Our machines are..."
"I have money," he threw a check at the counter. "She better get it done right now or my lawyers will be in contact."
Taking the opportunity, Cassandra followed right after the wealthy male left the counter.
"It has been hours," she said. "I want information about a patient. Gabriela Rodriguez."
"The doctors are running some exams, it may take a while before..."
"Right now. Or my lawyers will be in contact. I'm the heiress of a castle, you have no idea of what I'm capable of!"
She learned those rich people terms seemed to have some power over humans, because only a few minutes later she was invited to see Gabriela in her room.
The girl was still asleep, however, the monitors and wires plugged to her body showed her vital signs were normal again. Her temperature had also raised, according to a report near the bed, and the injury on her head had been treated.
The foreigner seemed to be sleeping peacefully. Her dark hair still looked shiny and glossy as usual, matching perfectly the tanned color of her skin. For the first time, Cassandra noticed the scars, all over her body. She had old needle markings on both of her arms, self-harming signs and other scars that suggested she had gotten in a lot of trouble before.
She brushed off the strand of hair that insisted falling over the girl's face.
Then, she sat down on the armchair, next to the bed, observing Gabriela for a while. She started reading the magazines she bought. She discovered many interesting things about the human world. One article in special, made her question whether her relationship with her mother would fall under the category of 'abusive' or not. After all, she killed her and forced her to accept her as a mother.
Bela was a brave and wise motherfucker for being able to leave that life behind and starting her own story. She envied her for that.
"Can't... stay... away from me," a weak voice mumbled from the bed, attracting Cassandra's attention. "Can you?"
"Being funny already, huh?" She stood up, crossing her arms. "So I guess you're not dying after all."
"Unfortunately for you, I'm not."
The corners of the brunette's mouth curled up in a smile. Before she could say anything else, a doctor walked into the room, interrupting the moment. She examined Gabriela briefly, to confirm that she had no signs of serious brain damage.
"Full name?"
"Gabriela Garcia Rodriguez."
"Date of birth?"
"April 14, 1997."
The information was correct, Cassandra remembered. She read all of that when she was exploring Gabriela's bedroom, searching for clues.
"Ms. Rodriguez," the doctor checked out the patient's chart, "do you remember the circumstances that lead you to jump into the cold lake?"
"I was being chased," Gabriela paused for a moment, still showing some confusion, "by a swarm of bees."
"And had you done any drugs before the incident?"
Before the female could even answer, Cassandra stepped in.
"Are you seeing THIS?" The vampire woman grabbed the chart from the doctor's hand violently. Gabriela's eyes went wide in surprise. "Her blood tests. Do you see any presence of drugs detected here?"
"No, but..."
"She has been clean for FOUR YEARS NOW. And if you make any more insinuations of this kind, you'll be facing my lawyers."
"My apologies, Miss. I didn't intend to cause any discomfort."
When the doctor left, Gabriela was laughing.
"Lawyers?" She raised her eyebrows. "I didn't know you had lawyers, Cassandra."
"It's something new I learned today," Cassandra told, holding a laugh herself.
----------
Eastern Europe, Village - November, 2021
I was mostly in a catatonic state for the next few hours until I was dismissed from the hospital. After Cassandra's threats and yelling, the doctor never returned. She signed my dismissal and gave a list of instructions through a nurse. I couldn't remember them at the moment, but I registered the part I'd have to take a break from work for a few days.
I tried to walk, but I was still dizzy and weak. I couldn't tell if it was still due to the head injury or the medication they had given me.
The drugs. Definitely. Because at some point at the road back to the castle, my eyes were finally able to stay completely open and focus on something.
And right now, I was focusing on how gorgeous C looked. She wasn't wearing her usual black vests and hood. Instead, she was wearing jeans, a shirt, a puffed jacket and its hood to cover the scarred part of her scalp. The light blue color of her jacket highlighted even more the beautiful color of her straight brown hair.
"You look..." even speaking seemed like a big effort to my injured body, "different."
"Well," Cassandra didn't take her eyes off the road. Considering her nature, I never expected her to be such a cautious driver, "I couldn't take you to the hospital cosplaying an... Assassin's Creed protagonist, as you say."
I let out a small laugh.
"Oh, it reminds me. I have something for you."
She took something from her pocket and handed it to me. It was a card she bought from the hospital's gift shop. One with Olaf, from Frozen.
"Feeling under the weather?" I read what the character in card said. It was supposed to be sarcastic, cruel. And I absolutely loved it. I couldn't stop laughing. "Okay... I admit it. It was a great one."
"It seemed appropriate for your condition. You looked like a popsicle when I found you."
"Why did you come back anyways? You could've let me die."
She sighed deeply.
"Something happened, Gabriela."
That was the first time she called me by my name. For some reason, it sounded different coming out from her mouth. I couldn't tell if it was because of her heavy Romanian accent, or maybe because she was sounding too serious this time.
"Those creatures in the forest, they attacked three villagers. Two of them were found dead this morning. I'm the main suspect and I need to prove my innocence until tonight. You were my only witness."
"Oh," she didn't regret her decision of letting me die. Instead, she was being selfish again. Using me to save her own skin. A hint of disappointment suddenly struck me. I thought we were making some progress.
We were in silence for a long moment after that, until I decided to act like an adult for the first time in days. I had started it. I should be the one to put an end in the situation.
"I'm sorry I left the windows opened," I apologized. "I mean it. And I'm sorry I lied about the whole Agency thing. I had no idea."
She finally looked at me. I tried to figure out what she was thinking, as her golden yellow eyes gazed deeply into my soul. Her eyebrow arched a little and a small smirk appeared in the corners of her lips.
"What? I'm not taking it back this time, C. I mean it, I'm really sorry. I deserved a revenge."
"I'm sorry I left you behind," she finally spoke. "I was only trying to give you a lesson. I thought you'd be able to escape."
"Okay. Good."
"Good."
This is what I was talking about. Progress. We'd eventually get there someday.
I reached for the radio's button. Cassandra tried to stop me.
"No!" It was too late. The mixtape had already started to play a cheesy American country song. "You shouldn't have done that..."
"What is... that anyways?" I asked, listening to the romantic lyrics.
"It belonged to Aleena's father, that son of a bitch. It reminded him of her deceased mother. This tape has been stuck in there for ages. She was probably conceived to this song or something."
"Ewwww."
We both started laughing, as we tried the impossible mission of making the radio stop.
Once we arrived, I tried to leave the truck by myself only to almost fall on my face, directly to the ground. Before that happened, Cassandra caught me. Her reflexes were too quick, I couldn't tell if she used her arms or her flies to prevent me from falling.
"Just let me handle this," she scolded me. "Would ya? Just... stay put, okay?"
She carried me inside the castle. The rest of the Dimitrescu family, as well as Mrs. Petrova and a woman I had never met, were waiting in the main hall.
"There she is," Lady Dimitrescu announced to the strange woman. At the same time, she directed a glare to her middle daughter. "Where the hell were you, Cassandra? You've been missing all day."
"She found me in the woods," I answered for her. "We were in the hospital, a couple of hours away from here."
"Cassandra did what?!" Bela asked in shock.
"I knew it!" Daniela started giggling for some reason I couldn't quite understand.
As we moved to the living room, the woman named Luiza started a full interrogation. It seemed to me she was looking for a scapegoat. Somebody to blame for the lost victims. And Cassandra was her perfect culprit.
"Are you sure you remember the facts clearly, Ms. Rodriguez?" She questioned. "After all you received a head injury. It may have affected your perception of reality."
She had no idea I was used to that. She had no idea I had been under arrest countless times.
"No, I hit my head after the creatures attacked us," I told. "They came to me after attacking Cas-... I mean, Ms. Cassandra."
"She could've taken the opportunity, the swarms you describe seem to be exactly like hers."
"They weren't. They were bees," and then I remembered. While I was running for my life, I was also obtaining the most precious piece of evidence I had found for my research. "Wait! I recorded a short video on my phone, but I must have lost it in the lake."
"You didn't," Cassandra quickly stood up from the couch she was sitting, next to her sisters. "I found it in the woods. Look, the screen is kinda broken but it still works!"
"I can plug this on the laptop," Bela suggested. "We can take a better look at the video."
Daniela returned from her mother's office and they did as told. The video clearly showed the humanoid creatures chasing me and shaping into swarms of bees.
"Well, it seems like House Dimitrescu is innocent after all," Luiza concluded before leaving. "But we still need a meeting with the other Lords. We have a big trouble around."
----------
Castle Dimitrescu, Cassandra's Bedroom - November, 2021
"She's your responsibility, you look after her."
Cassandra was extremely disappointed and moody upon the argument she had with her mother, following the meeting. After I told my story it was obvious she had previously lied, hiding the part where she left me to die in the woods.
I needed someone to observe me through the night and Lady Dimitrescu thought it would be the most appropriate punishment for her middle daughter if she had to be the one assigned for the job.
"I know what you're thinking,' Cassandra snarled as she cleaned my wounds and helped me to get dressed after my bath. "Yes, karma has slapped me right in the face. Are you happy now?"
"Well, it has slapped us both," I let out a groan as she applied some antiseptic at some cuts I had all over my leg. "Do you think I'm enjoying this? I'm definitely not."
"Good for you. I was starting to think you were developing a crush on me."
"Me?! I was only nice to you back in the truck because I was high as fuck!"
After she put on a bandage on my head injury, we were done. Mrs. Petrova brought me a tray of food and Cassandra remained there, sitting on her comfortable armchair with a displeased look on her face. Her raven, Eveline, was finally warming up to me after I fed her some of my food.
"You have a lot of scars," C commented. "Are you always getting in trouble?"
"Yeah, trouble always find me somehow," I spoke with my mouth half full.
"It's not like you don't search for it."
"Sometimes. This one, for example," I showed her a scar I had on my side. "I got during an illegal bike race."
"Sounds cool, to be honest."
I lifted up my pants' leg, pointing to my ankle.
"This one I got running away from the police. But this..." I exhibited her a scar on my arm. "That was my ex. Last time he beat the crap out of me and sent me to the hospital. I had a surgery to fix my wrist."
Cassandra was in silence listening to the story.
"And that big one on my back, that was my foster dad. He assumed I had told my school teachers that he used to..."
"It's enough," she stopped me. "I didn't mean to pry. I just... noticed and I was kinda curious. That's all."
"This is okay. It doesn't bother me to talk about them. In fact, it helps. It's like a part of all of these bad memories leave my body everytime I speak it out loud, to the universe."
The Dimitrescu woman stood up and lowered the hood she was wearing. Then, she started to pace around the room.
"This one," she pointed to her own scar. The one in her scalp, big and gross. "I got when Lady Dimitrescu poisoned me and gave me to Mother Miranda to turn me into her daughter. She was a scientist. She opened my skull and implanted a parasite in my brain, named Cadou."
I understood. Cassandra was finally letting down her walls and trusting me, telling me the information I wanted to know from the moment I arrived in the castle.
"The Cadou turned me and my sisters into vampire-like creatures. But each body reacts differently to it. My mother, besides her height, she has long metallic claws that can cut literally anything. There's Heisenberg, who has electric and magnetic powers. Donna, who can induce hallucinations on her victims and Moreau, who's a fish-like creature who produces those enzymes and acids."
"The Four Lords?"
"Exactly."
"Most of the people never survived Miranda's experiments," she sat down in front of me on the bed. "They either died or became monsters. Lycans, for example."
She showed me a picture of what was supposed to be a Lycan. And also, a Moroaica, another sort of monster seem around the village.
"This is awful, Cassandra," I wanted to break the tension somehow. I pointed to a small and shallow scar right above her eyebrow. "And this one? How did you get it?"
"My mother..." she paused and sighed. "My biological mother. She was telling me to stop running around, otherwise I'd trip and fall. I obviously didn't listen. I never listen, since I was a kid."
"You certainly don't. I don't blame you though, I'm exactly the same."
"At least this is how I like to imagine this scar happened, you know? My memories weren't preserved when I was turned."
In that moment, I realized we were not fighting in opposite sides. We were both victims. We had gone through the same traumatic events. Except that I was lucky enough to live and stay healthy.
"We're not so different," I concluded. "I was able to escape being infected but you didn't. You're a victim as much as I am. And my family and my people."
She sighed and revealed a hint of pain into her golden yellow eyes. I wondered what was their original color. I pictured they were blue, it'd fit her hair and facial features.
"We can work together and do justice. I'm collecting evidence to expose the truth to the whole world. This is why I came to the castle."
"There's no justice, Gabriela. Powerful people and corporations are behind this. They'd kill us and blow up this place to pieces. Then, they'd invent another pathetic story and the world would believe. We're a minority. The world tends to reject, to crush minorities and you must know it way better than I do."
I knew that, I really did. But somehow the desire for justice and revenge still burned inside me. I had the urge to fight. To resist. To prevent another place to go through that same hell.
"Maybe there is," I placed my hand over hers. She stiffened at first, allowing herself to relax after a couple of seconds. She raised her eyes to meet mine. "We can fight together. We can survive. We can live, make new memories and rebuild our lives. I think this is also justice."
"I guess so. Look at Bela, she's not bitter and miserable as we are anymore."
She lay by my side in bed. We spent the rest of the night in silence. But I knew her thoughts were the same as mine. We were planning how we'd proceed with our justice. Our own justice.

Ch 1. The Beginning
A/N: I can already see the comments, so let me clear up: no, everyone is not related. Instead of saying "ma'am" or "sir," everyone is called auntie, uncle, or cousin as a form of respect.
The waves lap against the beach shore as the rising sun sets the entire island and ocean ablaze with oranges and yellows. Fishers tie off their boats from the early morning catches and heave them up the sandy coves to the mainland. Chickens, pigs, and dogs welcome the morning with a symphony of howls, grunts, and clucks while awaiting their own breakfast. Children who have already been awake since before the sun, run amok through the tall trees, banana plants, and orchids while their sleep deprived parents inject themselves with caffeine. At the hub of all activity is the common place kitchen, where everyone cooks, everyone cleans, and everyone shares. The roof is sturdy made from clay and palm leaves to keep out the sun's harsh rays and the frequent downpour of rain. The walls have hanging curtains that are rolled and tied to the roof so that the warm salty air blows through without any obstructions. The mouthwatering aroma of spam wafts through the nearby homes and awakens anyone still trying to linger on last night's dreams. Soon the hub is full of people, some old, some young, some in between but all of them catering to one another while passing around the dishes of spam and rice wrapped with seaweed.
The head chef searches the crowd for one person, knowing this day is one she has been looking forward to; she just doesn't know it yet. Finally she spots them, weaving in and out toward the bar where breakfast awaits but the chef beats her there. The young woman and the chef stare one another down, their eyes locked in a showdown of who will move first. The young woman makes a dash for the nearest plate but the chef is quicker, she holds it away from the young woman. She groans loudly with frustration and annoyance, drawing the attention of a few people nearby who merely chuckle at the altercation. This happens every morning.
"Come on mamá, I'm too tired for this. I even got here early!" The woman whines.
(mom)
"AH! I don't want any attitude from you, okay? Hoy es especial and I need you to help me get things ready. Ahora, go eat and report back here as soon as you are finished." Her mother scolds.
(Today is special. Now,)
"Ugh.." The woman groans.
She takes the plate from her mom and scurries away to the outside of the shelter to the nearby tables and chairs made from bamboo. She settles herself down into a spot and pulls her black hair away from her face to keep it from getting in her food. Only one bite in before three others join her; the first one is her best friend Alo, wearing only baggy shorts, a tank top, and nothing else with their hair clearly sporting the 'just woke up' appeal. The second is her other best friend Diana, she has on a red tank top with high cut shorts and hand-crafted sandals, her brown hair is braided back into a single braid with flowers interwoven. The last is her sister Neyla, two years younger than her and they are exact carbon copies of each other with the same sun kissed brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes.
"Good morning, Alo! Good morning, Diana! Good morning, Carmen!" Neyla announces.
"Morning." They respond simultaneously.
"So, what is your mamá making you do today?" Asks Alo.
"No idea. She just said to report to her when I finish eating. Did she tell you anything?" Carmen responds.
"No, she told me the same thing."
Diana taps her chip in thought, "is it someone's anniversary? Maybe someone found their mate? We didn't forget a birthday, did we?"
The other shrug their shoulders and finish their meals, chatter about the latest drama, clean their places, and report for their chores. There are others gathered with her mom delegating the chores. The tasks are divided by who can do what the best; cooking, cleaning, decorating, but no one tells Carmen about why they are doing this. She tries to overhear conversations, but no one spills anything she can run with. There is one possibility, but it can't be that. She would have been told about it. She approaches her mother and two other women who are currently sharpening utensils behind her.
"Hola aunties." She waves to the two women.
(Hello)
They wave back and return their focus to their task while her mother approaches her and grips her shoulder tightly.
"Carmen, I have a muy importante task for you. We need something to cook. Something big. The biggest you can find ¿bueno?"
(Very important. Okay?)
Carmen beams with excitement, she was only allowed to hunt for very special ceremonies like weddings. Someone must be getting married, but she can't think of anyone recently engaged. Her heart flutters in excitement, it has to be what she's thinking right? Her mother smiles at her and released her shoulder, and she takes off like the start of a race. She dashes from the shelter and makes her way to the edge of the jungle. Carmen is the best hunter on the island; the record for biggest kill used to be held by her great, great, grandfather who killed a 200lb deer. That is, until she beat it by taking down a nearly 235lb jaguar that kept killing pigs. It took her three days of stalking and waiting to capture it.
She breathes in deeply and allows herself to unwind, as she lowers to her hands and knees. The grass tickles between her fingers that enlarge and widen into large paws. Her hair thickens and grows to coat her entire body before shortening to appropriate fur length. Her spinal collum extends behind her backside into a thick but fluffy tail. Everyone on the island can transform into a wolf, just like her. Her senses heighten, she inhales deeply and smells all the creatures within miles and the freshly washed fauna from the rain.
The breeze shakes the tops of the trees, a few birds chirp in the distance, and she listens. The song of her island drawing her in, frogs, cicadas, birds, and then a twig snapping. Her ear twitches in the direction of her desired prey, a Boar grunting in the distance. She barrels through the foliage, vines and plants whip past her as she maneuvers and weaves expertly through. As she approaches, she slows to a steady walk, crouching into the thicket while stalking closer. Her snout and eyes look through the brush to see her prize snorting away at the ground. This will be easy, all she has to do is go for the hind leg, snap the tendon then break the neck.
Carmen stills, her black fur blends with the shadows around giving her the perfect camouflage as the boar snorts the ground. When it stops and proceeds to dig for whatever it found, this is her moment. She leaps from the brush, lands directly behind the boar and slashes her fangs into its hind leg. It barely has time to react before it attempts to dash away only to fail miserably onto the ground and kick its legs wildly. Carmen stalks around the back of the boar, places one paw on its side and her mouth on the neck before jerking upward in a quick motion; the snap of bones echoes through the now silent jungle. Nearby prey scatters to the wind, and the birds fly off through the canopy after being startled by the sound.
She lifts the boar and maneuvers it onto her back, it has to be 160 easy, this should be plenty for the celebration tonight. She trots back at a slower pace so as to not lose her precious catch, stopping every few moments to readjust then proceed. Back at the shelter, her mother and the two women gasp at her catch, they reach their newly sharpened tools and gather some extra hands to remove the boar from her back. Her mother strokes Carmen's ear proudly then tsks upon seeing the state of which she returned.
"Ay mija, look at you! Go wash up and help your cousins with their chores. Be back here tonight."
Carmen twists her head to examine her body, seeing the matted fur with mud, leaves, and blood. She shakes herself only to be scolded by the nearby women and threatened with a chancla (slipper) before she runs off. After returning to her humanoid form, she returns to the comfort of her home to rinse off and change out of her filthy clothes. Then she goes and finds Alo to help them with whatever they were assigned. Everyone takes a break when the sun hits the peak of day, it is too hot to continue so they all take a well-earned swim in the lagoon. The warm water is refreshing on their overheated skin, children splash and play while the aunties serve cold coconut water and finger foods.
Once break time is finished and the sun is on the other side of the island, casting their side in a cool shadow do they return to their work. The shelter beams to life with lanterns and hanging lights, there's ribbons strung from the trees, and of course a roaring bonfire with her boar roasting over it. The bar is flowing with drinks for the adults, fresh mojitos, margaritas, all mixed with spirits and fruit from cultivated from their land. For the niñas and niños, virgin mixes and sodas to fill their sugar crave. Carmen invites Alo to get ready at her home, she puts on her best sleeveless, strapless crop top that she weaved and dyed herself with shorts that stop at her midthigh and her sandals. The final touch is flowers braided into her hair; she does a singular braid that flows over one shoulder. Alo went shirtless with a lei around their neck and on their head with a traditional grass skirt, and their best sandals.
Carmen and Alo walk together to the center of the island, everyone is dressed their best but she sees no distinct pattern so it's not a wedding. People laugh, they drink, Carmen is about two margaritas in when all goes silent except for a bellowing horn that is blown when a ship is approaching. Carmen's heart races once more, she is the first to run toward the bay where she sees an approaching tugger boat that usually brings them imported goods. Only this time, the cargo it wields is much more precious. The others stay back on the beach shore letting her be the only one on the dock, she grabs the rope from the captain and ties the boat off then stands excitedly. The boat rocks as the captain leaps off the side then holds his hand out for another.
The tears blind Carmen's vision as her heart explodes in unrelenting delight, her legs move forward without warning. She leaps into the air and grasps onto the man who steps off the boat, her legs locking around his torso with her arms around his neck. Her head buried into his shoulder as she shakes violently with happy sobs. The man is tall with the same brown skin and black hair as her, with a curly black beard around his chin and upper lip. He spins Carmen around happily, laughing wildly and nearly sending them into the water when he almost loses his balance. She unlocks from him and drops down onto the dock, her hands immediately finding his face as she smiles up at him and he smiles down at her, his eyes also wet with tears.
"Ben." She whimpers.
"Hola hermana." He chokes out.
She lets out a sob ridden laugh as she shakes his face in her hands, "I knew it! No one would tell me anything! I knew it had to be you! Look at you. Look at this beard! Oh my and..." she pauses, she looks him up and down then scowls, "are you wearing insoles?!" She accuses.
His ears turn bright red giving him away as he sputters to try and come up with a lie, Carmen shakes her head and pulls him down by one of them.
"My little brother is not going to be taller than me!" She threatens.
He laughs loudly before Carmen releases him and wipes the tears from her eyes. Five years ago he left to become the person he always felt he was, and now he is back. Him and Carmen exchanged letters every month, he told her everything that was happening and even sent her souvenirs. The last she heard from him was before he was going in because there were some complications with his bottom surgery. She feared the worse, fearing that this boat carried his remains but here he is. She can't help but cover her mouth as tears start to fall again, taking him in. He straightens up and turns his body slightly back toward the boat.
"There's someone I want you to meet." He motions toward the boat where a woman is stepping off.
She has fire-red hair, her skin is white with freckles peppering every inch, especially her face. She gives Carmen a bright, wide smile, her eyes are a dazzling green like the lagoon. She approaches the two of them and stands beside Carmen's brother who wraps his arm around her shoulders.
"Carmen, Clara. Clara, Carmen. She is my mate and also happened to be my surgeon." He chuckles.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. Ben has told me so much about you." She greets.
Carmen opens her arms and hugs Clara, at first the woman is tense but eventually relaxes and hugs Carmen back.
"Welcome Clara." She greets.
The three of them walk together toward the beach where Carmen and Ben's mother happily awaits and drowns Ben in kisses. She also hugs and kisses Clara while welcoming her to the family. The crowd swarms Ben and Clara, bombarding them in questions, excitement, and welcomes. Eventually the crowd wanders back the bonfire where a band strikes up with live music and the drinks flow once more. Carmen tried to give Ben drinks but was quickly told no by Clara due to the medication he is on, so, Carmen got Clara drunk instead. The boar that Carmen caught was devoured until only the bones and fat remained and would be used for other things tomorrow.
The night carried on, children crashed from their sugar highs and were carted away by their parents. The music eventually died down with the embers of the fire as only a few stranglers remained. Carmen sits by the dying fire with her feet outstretched, her face and body warm from the alcohol as she stares into the embers. Ben joins her, groaning loudly as he lowers himself down onto a stump nearby with his virgin drink in hand. His eyes droopy with sleep but he's too happy to be around his family again to fall asleep now. Clara is passed out in Carmen's hut because Ben will need a bigger one to fit him and Clara, and the hundred grandchildren that their mother wants.
They sit together in silence, Ben exhausted from answering all the questions about himself and his mate. Carmen exhausted from the many drinks shes downed that are finally catching up to her. Carmen sighs heavily and leans forward to start undoing her hair, she has a splitting headache and she's unsure if it's from the spinning landscape or her braid. Ben watches her unbraid her hair and toss the flowers aside, he picks one up and examines it thoughtfully.
"How long are you staying?" Carmen whispers sorrowfully.
"What do you mean? You don't think I'm staying?" Ben chuckles.
"You said Clara is a surgeon, and you're still going to school ya?" She replies.
"Ya." He sighs, "It's not permanent though. We agreed that once I'm graduated, we'll move here for good. I already talked to Mrs. Eka about taking over the school and Clara wants to open her own study here.” Ben is silent for a moment, “you should come with me.”
Carmen stops her hands, she fiddles with the bit of hair between her fingers as she digests what Ben suggested, a sudden sobriety washes over her.
“Why?” She asks almost bitterly.
“You said you wanted to find your mate. You said, and I quote, ‘there’s nothing left for me here. I am happy, but I am sick of all the sympathetic looks I get from the elders and aunties. I know they whisper about me.’”
“You don’t need to use my words against me.” Carmen bites.
“I’m just offering.” Ben shifts his glass between his hands, “when is the last time you went up the mountain?” He asks quietly.
The mountain is home to the moon pool where many of their elders go to seek guidance from their goddesses or ancestors. Many go up there when they turn 25 to seek out their one true mate, leading them to a life of fulfillment and happiness. Carmen shields her face away from Ben to hide her expression.
“Not since the first time.” She mumbled.
“So…almost seven years. Maybe you should try again, and no matter what happens, the offer still stands for you to join Clara and I when we leave.”
Ben stood from his seat and wandered off most likely to go to bed while Carmen finished unbraiding her hair and looked up toward the mountain. She sighed defeatedly, maybe he was right. Carmen shifted and started the trek up the mountain, in human form it would take hours to climb all the way up but in her wolf form she cut that down to an hour. Once she was at the top of the mountain she shifted back into her human form, the moon pool glowed even without a full moon present. She wandered around and used some nearby matches to light the incense surrounding the water.
She kneels on the warm volcanic rock beneath her knees as she peers into the clear pool. She closes her eyes and begins to pray. Seeking anyone. Her goddesses, her ancestors, anyone who can answer her. Her prayers are said without failure, she thinks them in her mind then whispers them aloud while focusing on her intention. After her prayers she opens her eyes, the pool swirls and shimmers with life. Carmen leans forward, searching the now cloudy waters for any sort of symbol, sign, anything. The water continues to swirl, growing more and more cloudy until she can’t see through it anymore then it stops. The water remains cloudy but slowly unclouds from the center to the outer edge of the pool. Nothing. Just like when she tried the first time.

Surprise me with the oc, and you can choose whoever the Yandere is- and you can choose whether it’s platonic Yandere or romantic Yandere
A/N: This is just the beginning I was wanting to know how well it was going in case it seemed too bland for you. Yandere is going to come up I can guarantee that for sure. The Oc is Urami Uchida that I used. If any questions let me know or if you want anything changed or added before I continue. This also isn’t originally what I wrote I think i did it more headcanon style on my computer where this is more of like a story which is written using my phone
It was a god to honest accident. Urami wasn’t supposed to be in that godforsaken village in the first place but Chris had sent her there anyway because he wanted intelligence in the area and he knew she could handle herself.
She spent time at Alcina’s castle pretending to be a servant that nobody seemed to really notice being out of place. She learned that the Dimitrescu family was just a bunch of bloodthirsty females parading around as vampires disguised as human women. They were basically freaks. But she was impressed by Alcina’s height.
The Doll Maker house was her favorite place to be due to the weird psychological trip Beneviento’s flowers put people through. It was like it was made to be a horror game environment. She did note the rooms that seemed to be aimed at Mia Winters. Like the mannequin and reported it.
She didn’t really dig up much on Moreau since she found him to be dull and the least to be that much of a threat.
The last was Heisenbergs factory which didn’t look like a big deal from the outside until you actually went and saw the inside. The thing was that Heisenberg was watching her too and from that point of entering the factory everything went downhill for both sides.
Stepping foot inside the building the first thing Urami got hit with was the smell and the second was that the door was literally open for anyone to have gone through. The first couple of rooms were normal until she came across a wall covered in pictures of basically everyone that was involved in Mother Miranda’s little game. Alcina, the creepy doll lady, ugly fish guy, Miranda. Mia, Rose,Ethan and even Chris were pictured. There was even a picture of herself but not one of the fourth lord Heisenberg.
Being too wrapped up in trying to figure out what was going on she never heard the man come up from behind her.
“Everyone here is being played by Miranda, even you.”
Urami literally didn’t know what even hit because by the time she was able to react it was too late. With Heisenberg standing over the body of the girl he found her picture and crossed an X through her face. Might as well take her out of the game while he can.
Looking over her body he found himself thinking she would make a possible option for a creature called “Iron Maiden”.
