Zoro demanding that Luffy not allow Usopp back on the ship seems to be a much more divisive topic than I originally thought. Looking at yknow, so many different sides, I think I understand how his words can feel cruel when you take into account how much Usopp grew in Enies Lobby and how much he pushed himself to the very limit trying to make things right. but then of course I have my own take away and. honestly this next bit might sound even crueler towards Usopp at first. I just don’t think that this was about Usopp at all. Or at least not in Zoro’s eyes.

His focus was on the way Luffy still needed to grow as a reliable Captain than on what Usopp needed to do as a crew mate. Luffy needed to reinforce his authority before moving on. He was formally challenged, and in Zoro’s eyes this couldn’t go unaddressed and untalked about- and let me pause here to reiterate that even though I’m arguing in this moment he was disregarding Usopp’s personal growth (as many ppl criticize him for) it’s not because he respects him less than Luffy or god forbid loves him less than Luffy- because as much as the Strawhats tend to disregard traditional rules of authority on their ship, Luffy is their Captain. And that means he’s holding their dreams in his hands. Someone challenging his authority is big, even if Luffy doesn’t want it to be, because how could he expect the Strawhats to continue to rely on him for leadership? When he’s willing to bury the hatchet without him and Usopp having even spoken to each other properly without a mask in between them.

“We’re not kids playing pirates” isn’t Zoro trying to say ‘Usopp’s actions towards Luffy were childish’ like many people think, it’s ‘you need to resolve this issue like an adult’. And though everyone’s allowed to read this moment differently, I really hope the ones who read it the same way I do don’t still think Zoro was in the wrong for asking Luffy to stand his ground properly. 

#i’ve read some truly PHENOMENAL fics that have still surprised me with the way the author interpreted this conflict between Zoro and Usopp #and I dont mean it in a bad way at all it’s still a very nuanced and thought-out take and fitting for the tone of the fic #but it also made me wanna run to get my own take on it written somewhere on this blog to see if OTHERS are surprised by it #or outright disagree #i’m usually very nervous about debating this kind of thing cause people can get aggressive but. #i at least trust usopp fans to be chill and i’m sure theyre the ones who have spent the most time analyzing this moment #anywho #roronoa zoro #water 7 #monkey d. luffy #one piece #god usopp

Hey y'all! I'm Coz (or Void) and it's about time I make an intro post :)

I've been lurking about the writing/whump communities for years now so... What changed? I finally feel like I've posted and engaged enough to warrant an intro haha. I'd really like to follow even more writers to keep myself on the writing train.

I mostly write original content with above average suffering (hello whump community), but I do like writing stuff set in existing stories (see: Vigilante). I also reblog plenty of stuff ))

My pinned has most of my WIPs—nothing truly complete by my standard, but there's a bit for each. My most recent WIP is Sticks and Stones, but I'll be working on Carrie and Willow sometime soon... eventually...

ChoiceScript actually sucks as an IF format from a player pov. At the BARE MINIMUM if you're gonna have a text based game you need to have a story log that the player can go back and reread or see the choice they just made. Which they don't have. And games with multiple endings (which all the CS games I've played have had) should have some sort of save/reload ability so you don't have to play THE WHOLE GAME AGAIN to make a single different choice. But guess what CS doesn't have!!! It seems to have a very clear develop-to-publish pipeline, though, which I'm sure appeals to writers, but damn if it isn't the worst IF platform I've experienced, and I've played Zork from a command console.

I mean, wouldn't necessarily say that of myself? Fndjdkd I mean, I don't even consider my word law, I'm constantly teasing apart his canon and reconsidering my own perspectives on elements of it and my stances on certain headcanons or how I want to extrapolate from canon — y'all got a pretty good look at my thought process with the bloodburn thing. I went from a hard "oh no" to a "hm wait if I think about this-" in the span of about ten minutes after going to research things. That's just how I operate, I'm constantly just fiddling with my own fictional sandbox.

Honestly, the only thing I really do is just focus on stuff that is reiterated a bunch? Like if it's in the movies, that's canon, and if something goes against it...well it's probably not canon, but with expanded material it gets trickier.

Like, personally, I do not consider anything in the visual dictionaries "canon" besides the little character details like Poe breaking his arm as a kid, just simply because a) the writer for those dictionaries really doesn't seem to like Poe at all, b) the tlj dictionary completely rewrites Poe's storyline to make it seem like fanon's interpretation of his actions in tlj were correct (they're not), and c) despite freefall almost definitely being in development at the time, the tros dictionary cites Poe being with Zorii for way longer than he was.

What I do count as canon is the stuff that gets backed up frequently by other bits of material. I consider the novelizations - even if I don't personally vibe with the tlj or tros ones - to be far more canon than, say, the last two arcs of the Poe comics just because they're more closely tied to the movies + you have the sequence of events in the tfa novel reiterated in the flight log, and the book that shall not be named is closely tied to those last two arcs of the comics, and the rise of skywalker + star wars.com has retconned it. twice.

There's still plenty of things I don't get about him! Sometimes my friends will just point out an angle I had never considered before (such as @/dameronalone who is a Poe expert - poexpert? - in her own right and gets him on a level that is simply just 😘🤌 amazing and showstopping, just to give one example) and it makes me reconsider things!

Mostly, I just like gathering facts abt him because I like tucking away information on things (or people) I love, and I like making sure I stay on top of things + read all his stuff because back in 2018-2020 sections of the fandom had a nasty habit of taking scenes of his out of context to make it seem like they were ruining his character, and after believing that for about a year just to find out it wasn't true fhdjdkddk left me determined to make sure I knew absolutely everything abt him so I wasn't duped again lmfao.
