Bandana Dee: How would you guys deal with a toxic friend?
Kirby: Tell them how you really feel.
Dedede: Slowly distance yourself from them.
Meta Knight: Engage in a 1v1 sword battle and if they lose they have to stop being toxic or pay the price.
Bandana Dee, being handed a sword: ...well heck.

okay, i’m not gonna call out names because i think people deserve chances to grow and i’m not assuming any malicious intent, but i also feel a need to answer something addressed to me today, because empathy’s gotta go hand in hand with accountability.
this is why talking about race (in fandom, or otherwise) is often like slamming your face into a brick wall that keeps insisting it’s on your side.
okay. so i sort of debated how to handle this: i think i’m just gonna quote myself. you may have missed this piece, so hopefully it’ll give context for why i’m not sure exactly what to say, and remain unsure.
i am very sure that until the day i die, i will be doing the hard and frustrating and not super ego-boosting work of diving into the mental dumpster of weird bullshit i was implicitly taught and unpacking it all.
so i know i will breathe my last and i will still have all these racist ideas, rattling around my noggin fucking with how i see the world and how i treat people, even though i don’t know i’m doing the thing. when i talk about people being racist and having implicit bias, i am also talking about me!
because racist is a descriptor, not an insult. and as much as it sucks for me to unpack this shit (don’t let anybody tell you it’s not hard work or that it feels good to do; it’s really hard and it will make you feel very small and gross sometimes) the people i accidentally aim it at deserve me putting in that effort and have it much worse.
so when i’m like, it was racist stede did that? i’m not saying stede is a bad person, and i’m not saying fuck that guy.
i’m saying oh shit this show is SMART, i do that too! it’s me!
so. i don’t know why you posted this and then bounced: i don’t know why you didn’t @ me, if you wanted me to see it and respond.
like... is your issue that i’m talking about race too much? that i’m being mean or unfair when i do it? that i don’t talk enough about how hard it is for white people to think about race, or that i’m not being understanding enough that it sucks to look at people who hurt you and have to consider you might have something in common with them? because i’ve said exactly that, too. you’re right, it’s not fun to do this work, and it is work.
i guess i just don’t understand the purpose, here, or why you’d say all this and not explain what exactly you want from me as a writer to do differently. and if that’s not your goal and i’ve misunderstood, then... i mean. i guess i remain confused as to what you want me to take away from this, other than “it’s hard to be white, and you have made me feel very uncomfortable about it so i wish you would stop”.

currently going down a bitter casgirl rabbit hole cause I’m nostalgic and it reminded me of one of the reasons why spn sucks so much: it’s lack of perspective. More specifically perspective outside of the boys.
Because I think despite spn being The Bad Person Show™️ it really does not budge when it comes to making the boys, along with their decisions, righteous in some manner. I know this isn’t true all the time but like generally. Particularly whenever they have an ally that they pretty clearly selfishly use without supporting or even thanking them while they’re still around.
Like, I think the last time they properly thanked & apologized to an ally would’ve been Bobby (I could be wrong about this statement btw it’s been a minute since I’ve watched the show). In an episode that, mind you, forcibly took away their perspective in favor of Bobby’s.
Like, we couldn’t just see them be good people & be good to Bobby, we had to wrench the entire fucking narrative for a moment just so they could do so. Jesus Fucking Christ Dude.

early qwat au thought: eliot plating up food properly for quinn because it's his Art and it's Something and he's doing something Good with his hands again to remind himself he can, and because quinn's… bewildering, but he stands watch for eliot and kills the people sent after him without even being asked, and sometimes when eliot's fuzzy with stress and sleep deprivation quinn inspires in him such a desire to squish his cheeks that it loops right back around to wanting to punch him again—
—but at least at first, before quinn sees enough of it to figure out it's a thing and poke at it a bit, eliot plates quinn's food properly and eats his own straight from the pan.
(sometimes shame doesn't show in big dramatic ways. sometimes it's eating scrambled egg out of a frying pan and pretending not to notice that your buddy's watching you with the intensity of someone planning a hit.)

Hawkeye Pierce
I think im stretching this a bit cause it does involve Hawkeye but is less about him and more about cousin Billy and its my hot take that I think Billy wasn't a bad person and what happened was a complete accident
to elaborate on that a bit I see a lot of takes that Billy must've been this horrible evil kid/person and like. ive seen exactly one take like that that ive enjoyed, and that didnt read as forced to me, but for the most part I feel like these weird villainizing takes are just there to make Hawkeye suffer more? im talking specifically about the side of the fandom where theyre like "oh yeah Billy groomed Hawkeye as a kid" like I really. hate that one
I think Billy was probably just a dumb kid who made a dumb choice and pushed his little cousin off the boat thinking it would be funny, and then it wasn't, and when he rescued Hawkeye and brought him back up he panicked and said it was a good thing he saved him cause he didnt want to get in trouble. I dont think he was actively trying to hurt Hawkeye. does that mean the memory is any less traumatic? of course not, he could've literally died, but I dont think its indicative that Billy was like. evil. I think he was just a dumb kid at best, and at worst maybe he was a bit of a jackass. he was probably both! such is the nature of being 13

A friend of mine went "you're so handsome I'm proud of you" and I'm confused because I like the compliment specially in a day I'm felling good with myself and very masc but why did he said he was proud of me? Proud of what? He is not my dad and anyway being handsome is cool but not an achievement you're proud of your friends for.
It can't be an neurotypical thing cause he is also on the spectrum ... Is this a cis thing? I just am so confused.
