What music/bands are your jam and/or make you lose your mind a little (or a lot)?
Uhhhh jammin (to me) implies something more high energy compared to vibin, which is more chill, sooo. Uhh
Short answer: mostly metalcore, fast paced songs, pop that isn’t purely pop if that makes sense, "this would make for a sick animation“, stuff that walks the very fine line between cringe af and hype af
Long answer:
The normal stuffTM: John Newman- Love me again, Dadi Freyr x Ásdís - Feel the love, Rick Astley - Beautiful Life. That is not a Roll, except for good vibes rolling in maybe. Cro - Traum (Easy too but that one’s a vibe and not a jam), Young Rising Sons- Last week on a Friday
The "hello last century, these are probably a vibe and not a jam-" category: boys town gang- Can’t Take my eyes off You, Earth Wind and Fire- Boogie Wonderland, Modjo - Lady (hear me tonight), Stardust- Music sounds better with you, Modern Jukebox‘s Shape of you cover (or just Modern jukebox in general ig, that’s kinda their whole thing isn’t it?)
A part in my playlist I lovingly like to call "cringe is dead“ because once it is these are hype af. …it’s mostly Crush40 sonic soundtracks. And also Undefeatable and Find Your Flame from Frontiers. Ans this can you feel the sunshine jazz cover. And Big Blue from F-Zero, specifically these three versions. Also this cover of you spin me round.
Another chunk is "3am but I‘m not sleepy yet“: mostly stuff with Cyperpunk vibes (the setting, not game). Cyan Night dreams by Parasite Inc., Scandroid- Neo Tokyo but the Chromatique and Dance with the Dead remixes; and then for not-cyperpunk stuff Paralyzed by Aviators and psyqui- hysteric night girl awakening (I think??),both the og and this more chill remix
Back to metal-ly stuff: Imminence- Infectious and Paralyzed. …both songs with that name were found on their own. Aso, Our promise- Panic Waves. Ask says "or make you lose your mind a little (or a lot)“. It’s 2:53 of this song, your honor. But! Gotta start at like 2:00 or smth to then properly fall into it. First song with the new singers too!
(If metal isn’t for you, Imminence sometimes also does really beautiful acoustic covers of their own songs, like this one for paralyzed)
From the "I genuinely don’t know why there’s so much Japanese stuff in my playlist"- chunk-: this one, basically everything from Zutomayo, thumbnail says daze so ig that’s the songs name?
Probably doesn’t count, but- everything from foxera. All 4 songs lol. Also sounds a bit like nostalgia, idk why. And hey look it’s a another song feat. Kellin Quinn, just like the Sonic Frontiers tracks at the start.

“I’d like to play you another song about suicidal depression. It’s about – if you are a certain type of person – me – . . . uh, you hear about somebody who did something horrible and drastic and you feel bad, but there’s a part of you that goes, ‘what, that’s, now I know, now I recognize my kind, because he did that.’ So this is about a guy who did a terrible thing and he couldn’t live with the memory of it, and so he went and did a worse thing, and it’s called ‘Cry for Judas.’”
- John Darnielle, frontman of the Mountain Goats

(audio starts 10s in)
i've been casually collecting some cd singles mostly for the artwork and the novelty of it all tbh, but i got this and never knew there was a "guitars down" version of sugar :0 upon listening it seems the biggest differences with this vs the album version are:
the instrumentals/sustained controlled feedback that usually plays behind the prechoruses is also used between the chorus and the 2nd verse, over the normal chuggy riff
the backing vocal harmonies in the chorus seem to be significantly brought forward which sounds STUNNING, easily the highlight of this version
made it (+the music or the misery) available to download as a flac file here :)
