Fallout New Vegas Live-Blog Dead Money and Lonesome Road DLC

Dead Money:

I won't lie I'm a little cheater 😔

THIS DLC WAS HARRRRRDDDDD!!!!! I needed help keeping everyone alive so I used a guide.

The DLC felt like this:

I mistakingly entered this DLC extremely cocky because my game’s difficulty is Very Very Easy and I stocked up on everything.

( ×_×) WHICH ENDED UP NOT MATTERING BECAUSE I GOT KNOCKED OUT WITH GAS, ROBBED AND HAD AN EXPLOSIVE COLLAR PUT ON ME (AGAIN!!!)

What is with the Brotherhood of Steel members and explosive collars 💀 This is why I blew you guys up. Even when away from The Think Tank My Courier is having to deal with the messes they've created.

Those idiots are lucky she loves them.

My Courier is so tired (ᴗ_ᴗ ) . . . She followed the Sierra Madre radio because she hoped something there could help in the Battle of Hoover Dam or help her.

My Courier ends up being a KISS ASS and doing whatever these weirdos want so they all don’t die. Seriously they all are just one wrong move from killing her. She’s not pushing her 7 Luck Stat.

God: “Wonder what that humans insides would look like laid out over the fountain.”

Dean: “That tourist crosses me they’ll regret it even if they don’t they still might.”

Christine: *My Courier's 4 Perception Stat making it difficult to understand her*

My Courier balancing everything so they all don’t die, kill each other and finish the mission:

Thoughts on the characters:

DOG AND GOD’S ARC WAS SO SAD ( o̴̶̷᷄ _ o̴̶̷̥᷅ )!!!!!!

Hearing Dog say, " . . . die. Dog wants to die. Don't care anymore, tired of you, tired of place." MADE ME AN EMOTIONAL MESS!!!!

I was so happy I was able to fuse them into one: "Both were driven by need for the other. The Courier brought them together, somehow, joined the two into one."

THIS LINE FROM THEIR ENDING HITS SO MUCH HARDER AFTER BEATING LONESOME ROAD -> "The new voice did not think of the Courier again until the battle at the Divide reached his ears. The battle between the two couriers, beneath the torn skies and the Old World flag... each bearing a message for the other. And the mutant prayed the Courier that had saved him... had been saved in return."

DEAN DOMINO MY TRASH BESTIE!!!!

I love his line: "Now, it's like we're married with these big wedding rings around our necks."

Dean is awful. I've never seen a man with a more fragile ego but he gets to live because HE IS THE ONLY REASON MY COURIER GOT THROUGH THAT DLC!!!! Without his secret stashes and Sierra Madre Martini recipe I'd still be stuck on the Dead Money DLC.

My Courier doesn’t even normally drink but she was CHUGGING those Sierra Madre Martinis 😂😭

Also it matches My Courier's personality to accidentally befriend him since she has a lot of faith in people.

(ノ＾∇＾)ノIT'S SO SATISFYING WHEN HE CALLS YOU PARTNER AND MEANS IT!!!!!!!

Plus this entire conversation KILLED ME!!!

My Courier: " [Intelligence 6] Wait- I need to head to the door on your left or my left?"

I totally didn't go to the wrong door the first time and die.

DEAN IS THE ONE WHO SINGS SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVEEEEEEEE??!!!! WHAT?!?!?!

(〃^∇^〃)ゞ My Courier didn't put two and two together the entire time until his hologram played. So when she finally realizes she accidentally strokes his ego rambling about how she listens to him all the time.

Dean: "I know you didn't do it out of the good of your heart."

My Courier who did it so she wouldn't die but also because she cares: 🥺

Also Dean’s ending is REALLY funny to me.

Especially the line, “Shrugging it off, his mind turned instead to where the Courier had come from. Vegas still survived, out there in the Mojave. Its sights, sounds... and casinos, ripe for the taking.”

He’s going to roll up to New Vegas only to be happily greeted by My Courier surrounded by Securitrons. I like to imagine he becomes a famous performer in The Strip. Heck maybe with the Omertas dead he ends up taking over their Casino o(^∀^ o)!!!

I feel bad because I have no opinions on Christine.

Since I missed out on A LOT of lore killing the Brotherhood of Steel early on. Need to do a deep dive onto her character later. Her design is super awesome looking and I’m happy she lived.

IT WAS SO COOL REALIZING CHRISTINE IS THE PERSON FROM THE HOLO TAPES I FOUND IN BIG MOUNTAIN!!! ALSO CHRISTINE SAYING ULYSESS AND I ARE ALIKE 👀!!!!

(ง •̀_•́)ง The fight with Elijah was SUPER easy because I punched him off a cliff and he instantly died.

I feel like trapping Father Elijah in the vault is poetic justice but I don’t have the stomach for it.

ALSO MY COURIER GRABBED 9 GOLD BARS TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN WAIT FOR HER!!!! I get why they didn’t but STILL!!!

(ง ˃̶͈̀ᗨ˂̶͈́)۶ The Sierra Madre was VERY interesting!!! Especially the lore behind it!!! Gameplay wise it was my least favorite out of all the DLCS.

Lonesome Road:

(⸝⸝⸝ ᵒ̴̶̷ ꇴ ᵒ̴̶̷)◞♥︎ With all the little clues throughout FNV this was the DLC I was MOST excited for!!!

I ruined my reputation with The Strip and NCR beforehand AND ULYSSES RECOGNIZED I WAS DOING THE YES MAN ROUTE!!! YAYYYY!!!!!!!!

Also I realized I've been pronouncing his name wrong this entire time. I've been saying it like E-D-E saying each letter out. It’s suppose to sound more like Eddie.

I LOVE ED-E!!!! ALSO THIS LINE FELT LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN FOR MY COURIER!!!!!

I listened to all of Ulysses' holo tapes and

AWUGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! AHHHHHHH MY HEART!!!!!

"The White Legs... meant to show respect, bribe me for Caesar's favor, echoing mannerisms and words... Showed them tech caches, taught them the workings of chamber and powder, spoke of Caesar's pride in those that used such things... lies. And... ...and then... they tried to honor me - not the Legion.They brought me before the campfire one night, showed me how they changed themselves, how they wore their hair now. It was like my entire dead tribe in the firelight, teeth grinning red in the dark - eager corpses, blood-covered ghosts. They... had taken my braids, the way of the Twisted Hairs, as if it showed they were like me, of me... ...while every knot in their braids spoke of raping, violence - and ignorance of what the knots meant. They thought to show respect... defiled it. Lost myself in trying to read the braids they wove, when I remembered they had put no meaning in it. They had no history of what it meant. They didn't even know the insult in the twists, knots... and Dry Wells came rushing back, the White Legs circled like that... It was like looking at the dead of my tribe, reborn as ghosts - hateful, hungry, bowing to Caesar. Another history... gone, carried by me alone."

I saw this conversation in the comments of a YouTube video (AND I'M SO MAD BECAUSE I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT VIDEO IT WAS AND ONLY HAVE SCREENSHOTS OF THE COMMENTS)!!!

I loved what they had to say:

Jacobnewell7845: "I feel like Ulysses respects you more if you do this path. You've not aligned with anyone, walked a different path than anyone, and yet have convinced him to stand besides you. You believe in nations, but you don't follow the ones that exist . . . this can only mean that you plan to found your own . . . and he respects that the most."

MadelineSawyer: "I honestly feel like the means you can talk him down like this path are a lot more meaningful, too. The ability to cite his definition of what makes a home, and how Couriers can build communities feels incredibly sympathetic to his perspectives. You're not telling him that he's misguided and why you think differently about changing symbol's meaning, you're telling him that you know what it means to build something as a fellow Courier, to build communities, homes and rather than laying wastes to echoes of the past. You're putting your trust in Ulysses as a fellow Courier, and he stands down, more reason to keep living despite having lost his hope previously. It hammers the poetic motif of The Two Couriers standing together at The Divide and shows that even a neutral Courier has values even if they don't follow a flag- the not all values need to be expressed conventionally. god I love new vegas."

ED-E'S SACRIFICE ( ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ _ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀ )!!!!!!

I love that ED-E was able to pass on what My Courier had taught him to his counterpart in the Mojave.

“The Courier knew ED-E's history and could carry it, even if the Eyebot had forgotten."

I like to imagine during the entire Lonesome Road DLC small flashes of memories return to My Courier.

The smell, people's faces, the weight of the package she carried ETC. It's only after hearing Ulysses' Final Message she fully remembers.

To clarify she didn’t forget because she was shot in the head by Benny Gecko.

She couldn’t remember due to the depression fog from grieving. Delivering to The Divide was just another job to her. She was completely unaware of the impact her actions had there. She was a walking corpse that unintentionally brought death to The Divide.

Also while Ulysses said that this was their first time meeting. I have a headcanon that he meant it was their first time meeting as Couriers.

They met as little kids.

For this explanation to make sense I need to explain My Courier's childhood:

My Courier's mother was a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse while her father was a traveling merchant. That was until the work became too dangerous so he retired and became an NCR solider (like his father).

They lived in NCR territory until eventually her mother left. She wasn't happy and wanted to return to the Followers of the Apocalypse. She tried to take My Courier (who was only ten years old) with her but was stopped. My Courier was considered a citizen of the NCR. If her mother wanted to leave fine but My Courier had to stay. So her mother left without her. Her father at the time was on a mission. Unaware his wife was trying to leave with their children.

So my Courier lived in NCR territory to adulthood. Receiving an education while her father jumped the ranks. Until due to poor decision making by the NCR her father got killed.

It's why throughout the game she's sympathetic to those in the NCR who are screwed over by it. Killing The Fiends, retrieving Ranger Morales' corpse etc.

My Courier originally intended to join the NCR but after that it destroyed her faith in them. So she left and became a Courier.

She had an intense fascination with robots during her childhood. In the wasteland where danger exists around every corner to a child the thought of a powerful robot protecting you would be comforting.

She loved reading books, poster, magazines, and pamphlets about them. Anything she could get.

For My Courier reading and daydreaming about robots was an escape. So a city like New Vegas that's protected by robots she desperately wanted to live in.

It's why she was saving the money she earned through her Courier work (a dangerous job) in order to move to New Vegas. It also why during her Courier work she felt like she was alive but not living. So being saved by Victor felt like a second chance. The opportunity to make her life her own.

When her father was still traveling as a merchant he'd take the family with him. During that time her mother would spread the Followers of the Apocalypse message. Trying to help the tribes they encountered. Her mother would also translate for father who would do business with them.

One tribe they met was the Twisted Hairs. Her family only spent a few days with them. During that time My Courier played with Ulysses.

If you've ever seen the Bluey episode Camping featuring Jean-luc it plays out like that.

Innocent and unaware of the horrors they're about to face and one day inflict on each other.

While My Courier remembered playing with a boy from a tribe. She didn't realize it Ulysses until listening to his final message. Ulysses did remember it was her.

After listening to his final tape she finds him and they have a nice heart to heart.

Their relationship is interesting since instead of calling them friends. I'd describe it more as two people who are bound to each other by fate. Unable to separate even if they wanted to. She visits him regularly, always bringing supplies and worrying about him.

#My Courier also has an older brother. He became an NCR soldier but got relocated to another state a year before their father passed.#When he learned what happened he also quit the NCR and would later join the Brotherhood of Steel.#Both loved robots and technology growing up however it took them in opposite directions.#He doesn’t know she left the NCR and she doesn’t know he joined the Brotherhood of Steel.#Old World Blues is my favorite DLC. Lonesome Road is my second favorite. While Honest Hearts and Dead Money are tied.#I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!#The Lonesome Road's environment WAS SO COOL BUT NGL MADE ME MOTION SICK!!!!!!#Also I upgraded the K9000 Cyberdog gun to the FIDO gun AND IT CARRIED ME IN LONESOME ROAD!!!!#Became one my favorite guns I love seeing the happy puppy kill.#MadisonPlaysFalloutNewVegas #Long Text #Long Post
