...okay, so I'm probably not the first person to notice this.
But gear's earing that he points towards when he says that he did the same ritual he wanted to help kuro with already on himself before:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
actually looks pretty similar to the pieces of the necklace the count used to create the servamps:
Tumblr media
The different pieces of the necklace seem to contain one demon each and the count used them to create the servamps.
So...did the count either learn this technique from the werewolves or is he possible even originally a werewolf himself? It would explain why he's immortal, that's why I'm wondering about this.
Gear says that the ritual is used to remove spirits, could it be that the count removed his own sins using the werewolf ritual and created the demons this way? But he went too far and removed too much unlike gear who only removed one part of himself? Him removing the sins from himself would also explain why he's so weird and doesn't understand other beings. As the sin demons say, they are a natural part of being a human and we have seen multiple times that denying their existence is harmful, removing them all from you would probably lead to you not being able to relate to other people anymore.
Maybe removing all these parts of himself is also why he has no appearance. Without his demons he's not a person anymore.
The count originally being a werewolf would also explain why he has magical abilities (gear can also use magic) before other magicians existed and why he's so anxious about certain people dying. Gear talks about how his immortality makes him sad because human friends do die, but unlike the count gear seems to accept death, grieves in a heathier way than the count and is able to move on and make new friends. Could also explain why his magic and creations are all strongly tied to the (full) moon.
Another similarity is that while werewolves apparently can't reproduce gear was able to have descendants by sharing his life force (it's mentioned in chapter 135 which isn't translated yet) with a woman and through her human children tsurugi is related to gear. Sigurd explained to nicco that the magicians came to be because the count let humans drink his blood, three survived, got magical ablities and became the ancestors of all human magicians:
Tumblr media
Maybe the count is more of a werecat though. He and the sloth demon do seem to have a closer connection, even though the count's appearance changes depending on the person looking at him he does usually keep his tail and the tip looks exactly like the one of kuro's cat/lion form and similar to the the one of inner sloth's non-human form.
It was also stated multiple times that the sloth demon is the strongest. I wonder why that is. Servamp comments on the fact that being lazy is often actually a sign of depression/anxiety through kuro's arc, so maybe the count was depressed and that's why the sloth demon is the strongest? Basically the demons strength depends on how much the count suffered from the different sins? It would also explain why melancholy is so strong, I assume kuro refusing to see him no matter how many siblings he sent his way to tell him to come looking for the count made him extremely sad and probably even made him come up with the plan to have himself be killed and then put in the same body as kuro through the ritual.
I assume he was behind C3 ordering the servamps to kill him because he's the one who created the magicians and thus C3 and lily who is kind of working for him was probably the one who put the idea that the count needed to be killed into the head of his eve (aka a member of the alicein family who hold a lot of power in C3 basically since the beginning. I explained this in more detail in another post). The people from C3 even said that the count can only be killed if he wants to and yeah, kuro didn't truly kill him, but he did destroy his body and kuro seems to have met little resistance when he attacked the count. Which probably means the count wanted this to happen.
#servamp#...if the servamps/demons all came from the count and the magicians are all basically the descendants of the count#does that mean this truly is all just a huge family conflict#since basically everyone involved is somewhat related to the count?😅#Sigurd says he's related to one of the three people who drank the counts blood#I'm still wondering if mahiru is special because he might have the blood of all three bloodlines#and C3 has a rule in place that forbids all three bloodlines from crossing#probably put in place by the count or lily#and that's why akira told nobody who the father of her child was#I still like my absolute crack theory that because mahiru might have “more” of the counts blood in him that he has no fixed appearance eith#But because he's so normal everyone perceives him as normal so nobody noticed until now that mahiru looks slightly different to all of them#honestly it would explain/excuse some questionable choices made by characters who as far as we know should be good people#Like why akira didn't tell anybody who the father was#why tooru tried to avoid being seen with mahiru in school by always saying he's to busy#Why tooru told mahiru not to tell the secret to anyone else#and why mahiru was raised as mundane as possible and as far away from C3 as possible#even why tooru kept his work for C3 secret from mahiru even after mahiru made the contract#and why he still didn't tell him the name of his father#If people know your relatives they start comparing you to them#If people knew that touma was mahiru's father they might expect mahiru to look like him#If people only knew mahiru was related to akira and tooru they would expect him to look like them#If people at school only knew mahiru but never met tooru before mahiru's appearance to them might be too different from tooru#Touma saying mahiru looks exactly like tooru doesn't disprove this crack theory either btw#Touma sees mahiru as tooru 2.0 and he's not 100% convinced he's actually mahiru's father so mahiru appearing as a copy of tooru makes sense#Just like mahiru would perceive himself as looking like akira and tooru because those are the only close relatives of his he knows#Sorry but I'm having too much fun with this crack theory#the twist that raising mahiru as the “ordinary high school student” was all a plot by his family#to keep people from noticing that they don't actually agree on what he looks like is too funny to me

P5 Pirate AU Part 2
Pirate AU
Sojiro - Runs a tavern/inn(?) (LeBlanc) and adopted Futaba and Akira (unofficially for Akira). Knows about the whole pirate deal, claims not to support it but he 100% does.
Takemi - Non reputable doctor, absolute genius with medicine. Used to be a doctor for a prominent noble family until a medicine she made "failed" to cure their sick child. Somehow another doctor managed to succeed where she couldn't, nobody believed her when she claimed he stole the original medicine she made. Ride or die for Akira but who isn't?
Yoshida - A disgraced noble who knew Akira in his prince days. He knows the injustice of what happened to Akira and helps to hide the crew when they come to him.
Iwai - Former pirate, is their weapons dealer. 100% knows Akira is a pirate but he's too charming and helpful to say no to getting involved. Refuses to let Akira near his son.
Ohya - Runs Crossroads with Lala. Is a classic loud mouth drunk gossip or is she? Often misleads navy officers who are looking for the crew after they helped her with Kayo. (I don't know if they found her alive and brought her back or if they found out she was dead and brought the information back.)
Kawakami - I don't really know how she would fit in?
Shinya - Also no clue how to fit him in here. He’s a child.
Chihaya - Is a fortune teller, does she have legit magical powers? The world will never know. Akira trusts her readings, Goro does not until like the fifth time they are eerily accurate. Not quite sure how or why she met Akira but she 100% knows he's a pirate.
Maruki - Part of the noble family that took Kamoshida's lands after his downfall. Knows about the whole pirate thing and repeatedly offers the crew a way out of that life and a place to stay because of how young they all are and how unfair their circumstances were. Goro is always ready to fight him (he gives off bad vibes but he's probably harmless.)
Sae - A navy officer who thinks the pirates kidnapped her sister. Stops at nothing to find them until she realizes that Makoto is safe and also a pirate. Refuses to arrest her sister (because she'll probably end up getting executed if she does) and goes into hiding (maybe at LeBlanc.)
Lavenza - Was the one who got Akira's sentence lifted from execution to banishment. Did as much within her power to help as possible but couldn't quite manage to make things fair.
Igor - I don't know if he's around.
Shido - King of a major kingdom and Goro's father. Didn't have any heirs so he took his bastard son in and tried to raise him to be an obedient tool. That did not work. Was both pissed and thrilled when pirates kidnapped his son, immediately told the kingdom he was dead and pretended to be a good king while saying he refused to pay the ransom, hoping that the pirates would take care of the disobedient son thing for him. Got drunk in some small kingdom once and convinced the king and queen to execute their brat.
Yaldabaoth - Powerful advisor to Shido probably. Maybe planning to steal his throne?
Okumura - Minor royal who just wanted to use his daughter for political gain. Was only mildly distraught when she was kidnapped. When she leaves to be a pirate, he is more angry than sad that his pawn left. (Maybe dies shortly after and it's framed as the pirates killing him to kidnap Haru again?)
Kaneshiro - Also a pirate but was taken down by Sae in the past. Remnants of his fleet can still be found skulking around sometimes.
Madarame - A noble who likes to flaunt his wealth but neglects his adoptive son. Is also Yusuke's patron. When Yusuke "dies" he is actually sad for a little while (he mourns the loss of his best artist instead of his son but still)
Kamoshida - A noble somewhere, treats all the people under him horribly, uses Mishima as a personal whipping boy until he's robbed and taken down by the Phantom Thieves. Maybe dies, I don't know. He loses everything.

Chapter Two
3 and 1/2 years ago
Meeting Jamie gave you a better understanding of the situation that happened in highschool. Thinking about it now you were pretty immature and you didn’t let Suna speak. Even if you still wanted to break up with him, you could have at least heard him out right?
What broke your heart was that you found out the boys were banned from volleyball for the remainder of Kita-senpais time there. Turns out Hitoshi spoke up about it, since he was there with you at New Years.
So...Atsumu started the bet after Suna mentioned you both needed to work on a project and that you looked uptight?
You frowned and fiddled with your fingers. That habit never died down. You offered to treat Jamie to a meal because she defended you against the older woman earlier. Suddenly Jamie’s manacured hand rested over yours. “I’m so sorry Y/N. I was such a bitch and insecure.” She apologized and she genuinely looked like she felt bad. “I have my fair share of hate, being a beauty influencer and all. And it made me realize that you had it worse in highschool and I’m sorry.”
You looked into her eyes and you sighed, “Just because we’re having this talk, doesn’t mean we’re friends.” You told her and she nodded and backed away. “So may I ask about your babies, I won’t judge” She asked curiously. She was so obsessed with babies and she asked to hold Akira after you burped her but you were on mama bear mode and you didn’t want to hand your baby off to someone you don’t know especially if it was the mean girl that was involved in hurting you.
As if God hated you and wanted to make you talk to Jamie more, your boy started fussing around. You lifted the blanket covering the stroller top and you smiled when you saw him smile. He made grabby hands so you carefully took him out and sat him on the table, facing Jamie. “This is my son Rini. My daughter is Akira.” You told her and she gasped.
“Y/N—is Suna the father?” She whispered and you hid your head behind your babies back who was giggling and Jamie tapping her nails playfully on the table.
“Is it that obvious or are you just thinking that I’m not the type of girl to sleep with random guys?” You asked.
“No I’m asking because Rini looks exactly like Suna. Literally. The hair, the eyes, the nose. It’s kinda creepy.” She said and you squinted your eyes at her. “N—not saying that your baby is creepy or anything just the fact that they’re Suna’s kids. Does he know?” She asked and she saw your frown.
“He doesn’t know? You should have told him, make him pay child support!” She exclaimed. “He has a good opportunity ahead of him. He always wanted to go pro. Who am I to stop him from that? I’d feel like a monster. He’d have to take care of and pay for two children. Well I mean if he even wants them.”
“Girl did you just say, who am I to stop him?
Y/N, you are his ex girlfriend that he got pregnant. He’s just as responsible for those babies as you are. Even more, his pull out game was weak and he didn’t wear protection.” She scolded and you hugged your baby close to your chest like he was a teddy bear. You were glad he wasn’t making a fuss. “Have you tried calling him?” She asked and you nodded.
“I got a new phone but I saved my contacts. I tried calling him a week before I gave birth, to see if maybe he wanted to come with me when I gave birth but he never answered. And I even sent him a text that it was me, but all I got was silence.” You sighed.
Why are you talking to her about all of this? Probably because she’s a stranger and you have nobody else to talk to. Your best friend from Inarizaki is busy in uni in order to be a fashion designer. So it’s usually just you and the kids. Not that you’re complaining you love laying with them in your small studio apartment and blowing raspberries on their tummy’s. Tobio even bought them a volleyball to share and they were trying to eat it like how you and Tobio did when you both were babies and you sent a photo to Tobio and your aunt and they were gonna combust. You’re children were so adorable.
Before Jamie could answer her phone rang and she looked at the screen. You could see her face pale, she kind of looked agitated. “Um..my boyfriend needs me home..I need to go Y/N. But—can we exchange numbers. I really want to make amends and maybe become friends?” She sounded hopeful and you smiled softly. “Yeah, let’s do that.” You said. After exchanging numbers. You put Rini back in the stroller and she stood up to leave. You caught a glimpse of her shirt that lifted up a bit and you saw the bruise on her side and before you could ask she was already gone.

To land ‘Loki,’ Kate Herron had to pull out all the stops. How she won over Marvel
As a teenager, Kate Herron was obsessed with the “Lord of the Rings” films.
In particular, she recalls heading to theaters repeatedly with friends who shared her passion to see “The Two Towers” (2002), the second installment in director Peter Jackson’s trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel. She even wrote “Lord of the Rings” fan fiction.
“It was very silly,” the British filmmaker insists, revealing that one of her stories saw the heroic Fellowship traveling through a magical fountain and getting trapped in New York. “Honestly, I was just writing the stories to make my friends laugh. I guess it was kind of that first foray for me: ‘How do I tell a story?’”
Years later, Herron is again involved in telling a story about a protagonist displaced from the world he knows. But this time, her audience is much bigger.
Herron, 33, is the director of “Loki,” the Marvel Studios series that follows the adventures of the titular god of mischief after he has been plucked out of time by an agency charged with maintaining the sanctity of the timeline. Thus, the six-episode series, which premiered earlier this month on Disney+, features a slightly different version of Loki than the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have grown to love since his first appearance in “Thor” (2011) through “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).
Tumblr media
“I love villains,” says Herron during a recent video call from Atlanta, where she is putting the final touches on “Loki.” “I think that if a villain’s done right, you don’t necessarily have to like their actions, but you have to understand them. And I think that Tom [Hiddleston], in the last decade, has brought such empathy and wit and pain to a very real character for so many people. I just wanted to be part of whatever [Loki’s] next chapter was going to be.”
The series, on which the self-described Loki fan also serves as an executive producer, is Herron’s highest-profile project to date. Her previous credits include directing on Netflix’s “Sex Education,” as well as “Five by Five,” a series of short films executive produced by Idris Elba.
While growing up in South East London, Herron never considered filmmaking as a career. Her love of movies manifested as the aspiration to become an actor, and she often goaded her peers into putting on plays or making movies using a friend’s father’s camcorder. It wasn’t until some astute and encouraging teachers at Herron’s secondary school pointed out that she seemed more interested in storytelling that she changed course.
By introducing Herron to new texts, these teachers — as well as a film studies class that covered films directed by Stanley Kubrick and Akira Kurosawa — helped expand her perspective.
“I just didn’t know that you could have a voice and an authorship over a film, which probably sounds a bit silly. But I just hadn’t really thought about films in that way,” says Herron. Soon enough, she was on the path to film school at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, England, where she graduated with a degree in film production.
Herron laughs as she remembers how she believed she would just go off and find work in film straight out of school. “Obviously that did not happen,” she says.
Tumblr media
With no post-graduate roadmap (or job offer) to help her break into the industry, Herron eventually started writing and directing short films with “no money” while juggling a day job as a temp. Both experiences provided Herron with material for “Loki,” which introduces a new bureaucratic agency called the Time Variance Authority to the MCU.
“I’ve worked at a lot of random places, which weirdly has influenced ‘Loki’ in some ways because we have this office culture kind of running through it,” says Herron. “I’ve worked in a lot of offices.”
In order to give the retro-futuristic offices of the TVA “a real lived-[in], breathed-in office” feel, Herron incorporated details that viewers could recognize from the real world — from paper files to the posters on the walls — and gave them a fantastical twist befitting the superhero series.
“One of the most exciting things to me about Kate is she has this amazing attention to detail,” says “Loki” co-executive producer Kevin Wright. “That was something that we saw on her very first pitch [and] it works its way into every frame of the show. Every monitor, every piece of paper in the TVA … she has looked over and approved everything you see.”
In an email, “Loki” star Hiddleston described Herron as “a dream collaborator” who possesses “a unique combination of extraordinary diligence, stamina, energy, respect and kindness.”
“Her affection for and understanding of Loki was so deep, profound and wide-ranging,” Hiddleston wrote. “She built a new world for these characters to play in with incredible precision, but she was also acutely sensitive to their emotional journey.”
Tumblr media
Herron’s affinity for outsiders is apparent throughout the course of our conversation. There is of course her love for Loki — the heir to the king of Frost Giants raised as the prince of Asgard who has become one of the MCU’s most beloved villain-turned-antiheroes. Herron’s first introduction to the world of Marvel as a kid was through “X-Men: The Animated Series,” about the superhero team with mutant powers that set them apart from average humans. Herron cites Lisa Simpson — the overachieving, opinionated middle child from the animated sitcom “The Simpsons” — as the reason she is a vegetarian who can play the saxophone.
And although Herron describes herself as shy, it’s no match for the passion she brings to discussing film and television.
She calls Wes Anderson’s 2001 film “The Royal Tenenbaums,” co-written by “Loki” actor Owen Wilson, “a perfect movie.” In addition to being obsessed with “The Simpsons,” Herron gravitated toward genre shows such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the updated “Battlestar Galactica” and “The X-Files” when growing up.
As Herron enthusiastically dives into “Loki’s” influences — which include “Alien” (1979), “Blade Runner” (1982), “Brazil” (1985), “Metropolis” (1927) and, yes, even “Teletubbies” — it’s easy to see why Wright knew she was the right person to bring “Loki” to life from their very first meeting.
Upon learning that Marvel was developing a show about Loki, Herron tasked her agents with calling Marvel every day until they would meet with her. And it worked.
“I was just so excited that somebody was chasing the project,” says Wright. “Which sounds crazy, that Marvel would be excited somebody’s chasing us. But it was the early days of us trying to get this Disney+ streaming stuff off the ground, so people were very hesitant … they didn’t know what it was yet.”
Herron’s enthusiasm for the show landed her a video meeting with Wright and executive producer Stephen Broussard. Believing it might be her only shot at the project, Herron came armed with so many stills and clips to illustrate her discussion of the scripts she’d been sent that a simple meet-and-greet turned into a four-hour conversation.
Tumblr media
“Over the course of the next week or so,” Wright explains, “it was really figuring out how to set Kate up to succeed when we got her in front of Kevin Feige to pitch this.”
Herron put together a 60-page bible of ideas for the characters, the story, the visual references and more. The rest is Marvel history.
She learned not to wait for permission, she says, after graduating from film school and becoming involved with improv and stand-up to both develop her comedy chops and to meet funny collaborators to be in her short films.
“I think I’d always find excuses, almost, [to not do it],” says Herron. “It was that thing of being like, ‘Oh, well, I’m not ready. So I’ll wait. I’ll wait until I’m perfect at it and then I’ll go do it.’”
Taking inspiration from Robert Rodriguez’s “Rebel Without a Crew” and a SXSW keynote speech by Mark Duplass, Herron realized that she just needed to start making things. She told herself it was OK if the films were messy. If a short was bad, nobody had to see it. If a short was “halfway to good,” she would submit them to festivals.
It’s this tenacious creativity that connects the dots between her early fan fiction, her short films, her pitch presentations — and now “Loki” itself. It’s a trait that has helped her navigate the industry to her current success, even during the periods it’s been most frustrating. As a female director, “I got asked crazy stuff in interviews sometimes,” she says of life on the festival circuit. “I remember being asked, ‘Are you sure you’re ready? Are you sure you’re ready?’ And male colleagues of mine were never asked that in interviews. I think that’s probably why I was so driven to just go out and make stuff.”

ABOUT REN SOHMA
(spoilers ahead)
Okay…. So take a deep breath.
I think Ren and Akira were really in love with each other and I think Ren is suffering from a form of postnatal depression.
In the manga it is often hinted that Ren had seduced Akira and would be a slut who was not worthy of him and had exploited his situation ...
After reading the story again, I do not think that was the case.
Akira was very ill and his diagnosis was that he was going to die very young. As the head of the family, he stood above everybody - which separated him from the other family members. Added to this was his illness, which further isolated him. The family had been urgently looking for a wife for him to bring an heir onto the scene, but no one was good enough. And I think this is where it started.
Ren was one of the many housekeepers of the Soma clan and was responsible for Akira. She cared for him, was always near him and noticed his emotional state, his loneliness. At least that is how it is told. She fell in love with him over time, but remained silent for a long time until she finally confessed her feelings to him.
It is also said that Akira had chosen her, among all the other women ... But Ren, as a simple maid, did not meet the level of esteem intended for Akira's future wife. There was much contradiction. Ren was insulted and not considered good enough. She was told to be a dirty witch, who was far below Akira and got his affection with tricks. It is implied that she simply seduced him. Ren is beautiful, you have to leave that to her.
However, both professed their love for each other, Akira also said that Ren alone recognized his loneliness and he married her in spite of all.
From this marriage, none other than Akito emerged - the reborn God of the Junnishi.
However, it were the already born Junnichi who knew about the pregnancy before Ren and Akira, because in a vision Akito appeared before them and announced that another banquet would be forthcoming. Ren was raided by the Junnichi one morning out of the blue .… And voila! All at once Ren's presence was no longer a thorn in the side of anyone. God would be born! Everyone was very happy - and everything was just about the kid. About Akito. About God.
And here is another important point.
Ren is disregarded as a person. Nobody cared about her anymore. Akira was also incredibly happy about the pregnancy. Through the vision everyone knew that Akito would become a girl and out of fear and jealousy that everyone would only love this girl, Ren threatened to abort Akito if she wasn‘t raised as a man ...
At this point you should think, why thought Ren that way? Even to the fact that only the baby mattered anymore and that she was just a vessel to everybody ... would it have been different if Akito had been a boy? Yes, I think so.
It is said that Ren was ashamed that the God she was going to give birth to was female. I think that's not the case. I think it's actually a messed-up jealousy for 'Daddy's Little Girl'. Ren was afraid that this child would drive a wedge between Akira and her, as Akito would be the God of the Junnishi. She would be all over the place. Ren saw Akito as another woman not as her daughter. She was a Rival (which is a trope that is often used in manga and anime… and it is really strange)
Well, Akira, of course, agreed to Ren's threat but was still happy about the birth.
Ren did not even want to hold the child.
This fight and all this points are important to understand why Ren has lost her mind. At first she was not good enough, she was insulted over and over again, even her family's home offended. Then she became pregnant and suddently everyone only loved the child, everyone was waiting for God. For the special Entity ... She was just their birth machine and the man she loved thought only of the divine child.
So as a toddler Akito had a hard time suffering under Ren. She physically and verbally abused Akito and raised her as a boy. Ren constantly blamed her, no matter what, that she would be useless and that Akira and Ren would not need her, Akira and Ren as a couple would be the only special onces because their connection had produced a special child.
From this time on it's always about who Akira loves more. His daughter or his wife?
A strange question since there are so many different varieties of love, but Ren's psyche and self-perception were already disturbed at the time. Otherwise she would have noticed that there is no reason for jealousy.
When Akira finally died, the secret is revealed ... Akira loved Akito. Of course, she was his daughter. But he said he wished that Ren could have loved her, too. He was sad that the two didn‘t got along and especially noted that Ren should have been happy about the birth of her child.
While he is dying he told Akito that she was special. She was God, she didn‘t need him or Ren. She was the God of the Junnichi and would be able to move on because everyone else has been waiting for her. She was born to be loved. After that he only talked about Ren, who was not called, even though her husband was dying.
He said that Ren and he had experienced true love and that their love was so special that they have begotten Akito, the God. That this would prove how special their love was.
So yes, Akira loved Ren deeply. Of course he did, she was his wife. Even though her outbursts made him unhappy, he always wanted the best for her. His last word was even 'Ren', as far as I can remember.
So what can you read from it? Akito was present during her father's monologue and as a small child she might thought that her father did not love her as much as she believed ... Akito's eyes are drawn throughout the scene without light effects. Actually a stylistic choice to describe the absence of emotions: Her father died ... she is traumatized.
When Ren stormed in she claimed Akito would not be needed anymore now that Akira was dead, Akitos supposed divinity would not be real and that the invisible bond between Akito and the Junnishi wasn‘t real (btw, it actually exists, Ren was wrong).
Ren felt helpless and was angry and sad that her husband died before she could said goodbye and blamed Akito.
Later that day Akito got a secret box from one of the housekeeper (she has no name). Supposedly it was a last gift from Akira to Akito to show how great their love for each other was. In the box was supposedly Akira's soul ....
Everything that happend to this point has made Akito extremly insecure and years later she stil believed that her father's soul is in that box.
Years later Ren learned about that box and wanted it for herself since everything that belonged to Akira belonged to her. She didn‘t know what was in it but that didn‘t matter. Ren even used Rin to get that box… and that ended badly.
But what does all this say about Ren?
I think through all the things that happened before and during and after the pregnancy Ren suffered from some kind of postnatal depression and never got over it. And after Akira died things got worse.
Akito is not directly one of the Junnichi, but she is obsessed with the spirit of God. And like almost all other parents in Fruits Basket, Akito's mother has been influenced by the curse.
Most parents in the story are violent, neglect their children, mock them, terrorize and abuse them and have no direct connection with them. Especially the mothers are greatly affected. So is Ren.
Ren thinks of Akito as the one who took Akira away from her. Emotional and physical. The loss has driven her crazy and the bond and the curse are something she can not grasp and understand, and so she loathes it. Because with the curse her and Akiras love started to fall apart. She does everything to torment Akito, insulting her, unsettling her and tries everything to destroy her identity. Both as God as well as a woman.
She even goes so far as to sleep with the man Akito loves the most.
( I can not help thinking, that Shiguri, as the mastermind he is, didn‘t just do that because he was so keen on her, he even said he just got into Ren because he thought Akito would look like Ren if she was raised as a woman ... So Shigure took advantage of Ren to imagen he has sex with Akito? That's weird … but that's Shigure, you never know what he's really thinking. And then there is the whole Kureno thing going on... But when Ren found out about this she was furious. Akito again took her place.)
All this does not make Ren's deeds better or excuses them, but it sheds another light on Ren, who is being vilified by everyone. And it absolutely explains why Akito is the way she is. The abused abuses ... but Akito is a different topic.
In the end, however, both were victims of a third person involved, beginning from the marriage of Ren and Akira, to his death and the question of who loved whom, and who would be the right heir as head of the familiy. This person was respinsible for and kept fireing on the hatred between mother and daughter. She had her fingers in the whole game: The housemaid without a name.
She insulted Ren for years.
She questioned everything Ren did.
She kept her away when Akira died.
She spur the hate/war between Akito and Ren… using the box/Akiras Souls and both their feelings.
She claimed Ren was insane.
She blindly obeys to the old family rules without thinking.
And… she, as one of those who raised Akito, let her do whatever she wanted and never taught her morals or boundaries.
She let both run amok and called it disgrace in secret….
And after Akito had seen her mistakes and wanted to change, the maid refused to change, claiming she was too old...

I've just discovered there's people who hate Kakeru. Not dislike or don't get the hype about him but genuinely seem to hate him. Now obviously personal preferences are a thing but I seriously don't get where this hate could be coming from because with
1. Akito- phyically assaults people (including kids), held a teenager hostage for daiting & trying to take a box of her's that Akito already knew was empty & also stabbed someone after they tried to help her & left them to potentially die
2. Shigure- regularly makes perverted "jokes" about people who are underage (including the 16 year old girl who lives with him & cleans/cooks for him + he's family) & admits to manipulating everyone around him for he's own selfish goal regardless of how it could hurt others & that he dosn't really care about being kind even to the people he supposedly loves + he likes messing with people he knows are already terribly anxious & he also won in the end while never having to actually sacrifice anything important to him or really learn anything of value
3. Ayame- abounded he's brother to abuse till he was almost 30 & says various inappropriate things in front of & towards High Schoolers
4. Kagura- pretended to love someone 3 years younger then her who she saw as beneath her in a violent (though it was obviously in out-dated slap stick) way until she was like 18 & then slaps Tohru so hard she becomes uncounsious
5. Kureno- enabler of Akito despite no longer being supernaturally bound to her & knowingly fell for a High Schooler
6. Hatori- enabler of Akito & erasers people's memories when told to regardless of how he knows it'll hurt others
7. Katsuya- knowingly married (& later impregnated) isolated & homeless 15 year old Kyoko when he was in he's 20's after meeting her as a teacher in her middle school
8. Ren- everything about her
9. Kyo's sperm donor- everything about him
10. Momiji's parents- how they handled the situation
11. Machi's mum- raised her daughter like a robot, replaced her, insulted her entire personality, acussed her of attempted murder with bassically zero evidence, kicked her out of her home, cut her off from her sibling & only ocasnially calls to insult her leading to her developing a rather unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with her damaged mental health
12. Machi & Kakeru's dad- cheated on his wife, made he's kids fight over thier inheritance before getting another child & then treating the first two like they no longer exsisted
13. Kakeru's mum- took years to realise that she shouldn't use her child to get money/power from an affair
14. Haru- got a little too insistent about phyical affection from someone who he knows is super emotinally scarred (I still love him though just don't think certain scenes with Rin were handeld as delicately as they probably should have been) & can get rather harsh to random people when he goes dark (the worse case of this being when he grabbed Tohru's arm)
15. Rin's parents- belong in hell
16. The Sohma maids (especially the old one)- are part of the reason Akito became as messed up as she did + just straight up seem to not view kids or the zodiac as human beings with thier own feelings or rights
17. Uo's mum- straight up abounded her young daughter after getting into a new relationship
18. Yuki & Ayame's mum- narsastic, dismissive, controlling, litrually sold one of her kids to thier abuser in exchange for wealth/status, never apologised or even acknowledged what she had done
19. Akira- pursued a relationship pretty much out of pure lonleyness, went along with the suppression of Akito's biological gender, didn't do enough to protect Akito from he's wife's abuse (though in he's defense he was incredible sickly), last few things he told he's child before dying was that he was glad he had her as proof of he's relationship with Ren (AKA the person that had made it clear to Akito that she hated her guts) & that she was special due to being god & her bond with the zodiac was her birth right & would always be there (leading Akito to obviously feeling possessive & intilted over the zodiac & base her entire identity on her position as their god)
20. Kyoko- neglected infant Tohru for months due to her depression after Katuya's death & was even planning on killing herself to be with him again before finally coming to her senses (I love her & I tottally get why she did what she did but if it weren't for gramps little Tohru would have been in one hell of bad situation)
21. The Yuki Fan Club- just thier entire attitude towards Yuki & any girl that interacts with him (I get that it's obviously a delibretly over the top anime gag but irl the way they behave would be seriously disturbing & I'm pretty sure might even be illegal now what with all the photos taken of Yuki without he's knowledge)
22. The former school president- he's creepy fravriotisim towards Yuki (& later he's son) & he's flat out harrasing of anyone wearing the school uniform in a none tradishinal way or anyone with an unusual hair colour (despite him bassically admitting that the school officials had already said that Momiji, Haru & Kyo's appearances were ok)
23. Kimi- I like her & she's obviously iconic but honestly the way she treats Machi kind of borders on bullying sometimes for me
24. Hiro- he's a child & I like him but when we first met him you can't deny he was being a grade A shit to Tohru, Kisa & everyone else (& he fucks up again with Tohru during the beach arc)
25. Rin- love her so much but the first time she met Tohru she did try to kick her in the head while in her horse form which you know isn't great & she was rather antagonistic towards Yuki for no real vaild reason
26. Kyo- using Yuki as a scape goat he's entire life even when he knew none of the terrible things that had happened to him were actually he's fault, hurting Tohru in he's true form (I get that he wasn't in he's right mind & was suffering greatly but it still wasn't good) & rejecting Tohru after everything they had been through in the way that he did (again he wasn't in he's right mind & was suffering greatly but it's still an incredibly low blow & I think he knew that as he tragically wanted to hurt her, similar to what he did in the true form scene, badly enough that she would finally choose to give up on him)
27. The entire zodiac (outside of Kagura & maybe Momiji)- it is revealed that the zodiac are supernaturally inclined to look down on the cat & that they know about Kyo's tragic fate yet do not plan on trying to stop it from happening as he's suffering is thier one true reprieve in the curse as no matter what happens to them they will never be as "low down" as the cat yet once the curse finally breaks for everybody almost nobody even thinks to apologises to Kyo for how he was made to be an outsider since birth
28. Naohito- decides to hate Yuki out of jelousy because he has feelings for Motoko (who clearly has feelings for Yuki) despite Yuki showing no romantic feelings for Motoko & barley sharing any kind of connection with her at all which is obviously not fair as just because you happen to be liked by someone who is liked by someone else dosn't mean you should have to except being seen as a bad person (especially as in Yuki's case he never tried to encourage Motoko's obsession with him & in fact barley notices her exsistance as they aren't in any of the same social circles & she follows the ridiculous club rule of not speaking to him without another fan club member present)
29. Yuki- rather judgmental over how others choose to present themselves in regards to gender norms
30. Momiji- I love him but he did try to take advange of Tohru not knowing how old he really was to bath with her & did actually mange to use this fact to sleep along side her one night before she found out how old he actually was (now obviously Momiji is a wonderfully kind person & clearly would never actually do anything to hurt Tohru but let's be real if someone did that to you irl you'd be pretty creeped out & understandably have a hard time trusting them again)
31. Yuki & Ayame's father- has always been complety missing from he's kids lives (& even seemingly he's wive's) despite being mentioned to be still alive & well enough to work
32. Uo's dad- getting dumped for someone else must suck especially when your left with a young child & I know he did eventually clean up he's act but there's no changing the fact that he's years as an alcholic messed up Uo really bad & could have led to her death if Kyoko hadn't stepped in
33. Kazuma- I know he had good intentions & I love him but there's no denying that he did ignore Kyo's right to free will when he removed he's bracelet & though the plan ended up making he's life better if it had gone wrong in any way then Kyo had pretty much admitted (at least to himself) in S2E9 that he would have probably killed himself that night which would have clearly destroyed Tohru
34. Kyo's mum - she was obviously treated terribly by her husband & I do feel sorry for her but her way of dealing with the situation really damaged Kyo
Your really telling me that the character you have the most issues with is a boy who said a few horrible things to the MC when he was 15 in service of someone he loved who was in pain, got told by said loved one that what he'd said was wrong, felt bad about it, befriended a lonley teen that was close to the MC, quickly grew to genuinely care about them & made them come out of thier shell, wanted to help he's half sister but knew he wasn't really the right person for the job, realised that he's new friend was, encouraged the friend & he's sister's growing connection, learned how good of a person the MC has been to he's new friend, admits to he's friend that he'd been horrible to the MC in the past but just dosn't know how to go about rectifying it (especially as she dosn't seem to remember him), introduces he's friend to he's GF (further expanding the friend's positive social circle), finally bumps into MC alone & is shocked to find out that she dose now in fact remember him & even appoliges to him + thanks him for bringing her friend out of thier shell before he comes to he's senses & assures her that she has nothing to apologise for & then visits her in the hospital when she gets injured & even goes shopping for a gift to give her beforehand (even if he dosn't end up getting her something that actually fits her personality because well duh he dosn't really know anything about her).
Out of every questionably moral thing in the series this is really the hill you wanna die on?
I just honestly can't understand it. Sure he's not perfect but then no one in the series is. That's kind of the entire point of the story, that anyone can do things that hurt people but that it's what you choose to do going forward (even if it takes you a long time) that's important & Kakeru, eventually, chose to try to do the right thing. He tried to understand Yuki even though the guy didn't seem to like him at all, he chose to check up on Machi even though she seemingly hadn't made any sign of wanting to deepen thier sibling bond, he chose to finally talk to Tohru instead of continuing the ruse that he'd never spoken to her before, he chose to come clean about what happened to Yuki despite the potential of ending their friendship (& you can't tell me once he'd realised how much Yuki cared for Tohru the very real possibility that Yuki might hate him if he found out what he'd said to her wouldn't worry him at all) & he chose to visit Tohru in the hospital instead of just wishing Yuki luck or hoping Kormaki would go so he could avoid feeling uncomfortable.
You don't have to love him or even like him but I really don't think he deserves this amount of hate (especially incomparsion to some of the other characters I've listed).

Crusader of Life 2: Chapter 11
This is the last one I have queued, but the journey is far from over! This is only the beginning to a very bizarre adventure! (Yes that means infrequent updates I’m sorry about that)
Jotaro peered over the horizon, seeing Kakyoin running over to him, waving.
“You’re really still ready to go?” Jotaro asked. His friend had just lost his only daughter, surely he wasn’t ready to come back and fight. “Nobody will blame you for taking a few days off to grieve Emily.”
“Well, as it turns out, Emily is fine,” Kakyoin answered through heavy breaths.
“What? B-but her body!” Koichi sputtered.
“Yes, that was, indeed, Emily’s dead body,” Kakyoin explained. “But Lily had duplicated her before it was too late, so there was another Emily with only a burn on her hand.”
“That’s a relief,” Josuke sighed. “I was getting pretty downhearted myself. She’s a cute kid.”
“Well, Kakyoin, if you’re really feeling yourself,” Jotaro smirked, “then welcome aboard.”
After telling Josuke and Koichi to stay at the shore, Jotaro started the boat, and they were off.
“Are you sure Josuke can take care of Chili Pepper if he shows up?” Kakyoin asked.
“Oh, believe me, he can,” Jotaro chuckled. “If anyone can take down that Stand, it’s Josuke.”
“I’ll send Hierophant to warn Mr. Joestar,” Kakyoin said. He summoned his Stand, and watched as it shot towards the slowly approaching ship. When Hierophant got there, he saw a familiar face, in an almost pitying state. Of course, he wasn’t expecting much different from Jotaro’s description of him.
“Excuse me, do you know where my cane is?” Joseph asked a Speedwagon worker.
“It’s right there, sir,” the worker answered.
“Ah, I see. Thank you.” Joseph reached for the cane, but stopped when it was carried over to him by Hierophant.
“It’s good to see you again, Mr. Joestar,” Kakyoin’s voice came through the Stand.
“There’s a voice I never thought I’d hear again,” Joseph smiled. “How are you doing, Kakyoin?”
“I’m doing fine, but that’s not important,” Hierophant told him. “You see, there’s a Stand user coming to attack you, and we wanted to warn you before it’s too late.”
“What’s that?” Joseph put a hand up to his ear. “A band member wants to whack me?”
This was not the Joseph Kakyoin knew a few years ago. “Staaand uuuuseeer… coming to ataaaaack yoooooou.”
“Ah, I see now,” Joseph said. “Sorry about that. Anyway, I’ve heard you and Lily have a child now. How are you liking that?”
“It’s hard, especially when Emily’s developed a Stand,” Hierophant laughed, “but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
“A Stand user?” Joseph asked. “Is it killing her?”
“No,” Kakyoin answered. “Well, not exactly. It is making her sick, but we’ve been limiting her use of it, and she’s recovering really well. I think we can allow her to use Walking on Sunshine by the end of this week.”
“Kakyoin, why aren’t you calling back Hierophant?” Jotaro queried. “Is something wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong, Mr. Joestar just wants to talk,” Kakyoin reassured him. “It’s been forever since we’ve caught up with each other, after all.”
Jotaro nodded. “You did tell him about Red Hot Chili Pepper, right?”
“I did. He doesn’t seem the least bit worried, though.”
“Well, tell him that we’re about to board the ship.”
“Will do.” Kakyoin had Hierophant pass on the news to Joseph, who nodded in acknowledgement. Soon, their little boat was close enough, and Jotaro, Kakyoin, and Okuyasu all got on.
“You know, it’s been nice talking to you,” Joseph continued, “but I wish I could see your face once again.”
“No need,” Kakyoin entered the room, calling back Hierophant. Joseph’s lips curled up into a smile.
“My, how you’ve grown,” he said.
“It’s always a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Joestar.”
“Who’s that young man behind you?”
“Oh, him? This is Okuyasu.” Kakyoin let the boy through, revealing his whole body.
“Okuyasu?”
“Yup,” Okuyasu answered. “I’m Josuke’s neighbor, and also a Stand user.”
“A what?”
“A Stand user.”
“Huh?”
“Stand user!”
“Ah, a Stand user,” Joseph nodded. Neither of them noticed that Kakyoin had snuck out, and was watching the ship dock with Jotaro.
“This is either gonna be really awkward or really heartwarming,” Jotaro grumbled, “and I’m not prepared for either.”
“Ah, still trying to keep that cold exterior as always, Jotaro,” Kakyoin chuckled. “Although, it will be really awkward for everyone if things don’t go well. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen.”
As the boat docked, and everyone safely made it to Morioh, Joseph emerged from the room he was in, and saw his son, Josuke, who couldn’t even look him in the eye.
“Great,” Jotaro whispered to Kakyoin, “it’s gonna be awkward.”
Joseph slowly walked down the ramp, but suddenly tripped, losing grip of his cane and falling to the floor. That is, until Josuke caught him.
“Watch your step,” he said. “You could fall in the ocean.”
“I’m sorry,” Joseph replied. “I would use my cane, but it seems like it broke while I was walking down here.”
Josuke looked at the cane, which he could easily fix, and sighed. “Looks like I have no choice.” He grabbed onto his father’s hand, and walked him down the rest of the way.
Kakyoin smiled brightly. Looks like it wouldn’t be awkward after all. “So, once we retrieve the bow and arrow and make sure the people affected don’t go mad with power, we should be pretty much done, right?”
Jotaro nodded. “The threat to Morioh will be gone, and if anyone else shows up to cause a commotion, Josuke and his friends will stop them right in their tracks.”
“We can finally go home soon,” Kakyoin sighed.
***
“Alright, start talking!” Jotaro slammed on the jail bars holding in Akira Otoishi, the user of Red Hot Chili Pepper. With him was Lily, standing by in case he tried anything funny.
“You won’t get anything out of me,” Akira scoffed, “I know you’re not going to kill me.”
“Lily?”
“You got it, Jotaro.” Lily summoned Ace of Pentacles, and made a copy of Akira, which Star Platinum punched, and punched hard. Multiple times. When he was done, the copied Akira was practically bleeding out, but not dead.
“We could leave you like this,” Jotaro threatened. “On the brink of death. It’s not dead, but it sure hurts way more.”
“How about we put that copy out of its misery?” Lily asked Jotaro.
“That sounds like a good idea,” Jotaro answered, punching a hole through the second Akira’s abdomen.
“Okay, okay! I’ll talk!” Akira stammered. “Whatever you need to know, I’ll tell!”
“Good, good,” Jotaro nodded. “So, first off, where are you hiding the bow and arrow?”
“What are you gonna do with it?” Akira asked. Jotaro summoned Star Platinum again, and Akira backed into a corner. “My house! My house!”
“How many other people did you use the arrow on, and who survived?”
“I-I don’t know them all! Honest!” Akira squeaked. “I can tell you the ones I know, but there might be others I didn’t list.”
He told the two of them all that he could, all while begging to be spared. When he was done, Jotaro lowered his hat, and left the jail, along with Lily.
“That’s a lot of Stand users,” Lily half-laughed.
“Good grief, we’re never leaving this town,” Jotaro groaned.
“So, how did it go?” Kakyoin asked.
“Oh, it went fine,” Lily sighed. “Jotaro took notes on all of the people who survived getting hit by the arrow.”
“Geez, that’s a lot,” Kakyoin mumbled. “We need a babysitter for Emily if we’re gonna get all of these done.”
“Actually, that’s not a bad idea,” Lily commented. “Of course, her sitter must be another Stand user.”
“They can’t be against us, either,” Kakyoin added. “So someone we know and trust, for sure.”
“And their Stand helping them take care of a kid is a big plus, too,” Lily finished. Both of them looked at each other. They knew exactly who to ask.
***
“Josuke!” Tomoko yelled. “Get the door, would you?”
“I got it!” Josuke yelled back. He looked through the doorhole, and saw two, no, three familiar faces.
“Mr. Kakyoin, Mrs. Lily, Emily, hi!” he said. “What brings you here?”
“Well,” Lily rubbed behind her neck, “we have a job for you. A job that we’ll pay you for, of course, and one you can turn down if you don’t want to do it.”
“We need a babysitter for Emily,” Kakyoin finished. “We chose you because you meet all of our requirements, as well as meet some extra criteria, but we can choose someone else if you don’t want to.”
“It won’t start today, so feel free to think about it,” Lily added.
“I’d be happy to!” Josuke immediately responded.
“Really?” Kakyoin’s eyes widened. “You made the decision just like that?”
“Well, yeah, I mean, Emily’s the cutest thing, who wouldn’t want to spend the afternoon with her? Plus, me and her get along really well, and I can fix anything she breaks. What could go wrong?”
Kakyoin and Lily looked each other in the eye.
“Well, if you’re really sure, then your first day is tomorrow,” Lily told Josuke. “See you then!”
“Bye!” Josuke called. Tomorrow was going to be the best day ever.

The Hardest Lessons Learned
Tumblr media
We’re actually given, several hints not only this chapter but beforehand. Including the chin touch as he says he’ll catch up, that Kaneki did not really believe he would make it out alive from this fight.
Tumblr media
That Kaneki, while deciding he wanted to live and find a purpose for living, had resigned himself to his death once again.
Tumblr media
In this chapter we finally witness what has been put off since basically 100, and that is true tragic consequence. Not from the cruelty of the world, but rather for it’s lack of forgiveness towards Kaneki’s wrongdoings. It’s Karma. Remember, everything that happened so far Kaneki has been warned of far in advance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Kaneki takes no steps himself despite being warned several times ahead of time, how can tragedy be averted? When Hamlet fails to avenge his father and spends the entire play in indecision. When Romeo and Juliet fail to think on their situation and their families and decide to get married instead. When Othello fails to trust or believe in his wife the smallest amount.
When Oedipus pursues the truth, but is at the same time terrified by that truth then how can he possibly avert tragedy?
Tumblr media
Kaneki’s greatest fear, that he’ll be locked into his decisions and forced to bear witness, powerless to change the results.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaneki’s greatest oversight, that there is a reason behind all of the suffering in his life. That he is special in some way, that his motivation is stronger, the unfounded assumption that he is important, he matters, he stands above all others.
That he is the main character of a tragedy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As assumption that makes him forget that just like himself, there are also people fighting for things that are important to him, to protect them, and therefore his own urge to fight or protect is not somehow more special, more stronger, or guaranteed to win him the fight.
Tumblr media
We were warned as explicitly as one chapter ago, that we cannot fight our loss. That doing so is really an attempt to spare yourself from the loss, or substitute yourself into the loss and therefore the price for fighting your loss is always yourself.
Tumblr media
We see Furuta lecture Kaneki, on other basic things he was warned about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaneki is told, not to base his decisions on his feelings, to learn to trust anothers and not to base everything on himself, and most of all to make and stand with his decisions and we see him do none of these things. He renegs on the one decision he did make, he fails to trust both Tsukiyama and Nishiki with him to come with and provide support and instead goes entirely alone back home, he makes his entire decision based off of a bad feeling he had in the first place.
Furuta tells him as much, one small difference in the fight and he could have won. What that means is that Kaneki really has learned absolutely nothing since the last time he fought Arima and ended up in a similiar situation.
Tumblr media
Unlike Arima though, Juuzou is not secretly fighting with the intent of bettering Kaneki. Kaneki’s unlimited supply of mentors who are willing to take the blame for him, and take the consequences for him, set up all things in his favor on the assumption that this time, he might move, seems to have finally run dry.
From the Anteiku arc forward, Kaneki has only ever moved as a result of another pushing him. Hinami begs him to save her mother, Itori pushes him to investigate the Gourmet, Ayato kidnaps him and bodily drags him, Yamori tortures him until he’s finally ready to defend himself. Aogiri moves on Kanou before he does. Uta tells him point blank where Rize is hiding. Touka tells him to go back to Anteiku. The Anteiku raid happens before he returns. Arima drags him out of V14 by the hair, but only after Hide told him to go down that route to fight.
Tumblr media
Eto returns his memories for him. Kanae saves Tsukiyama, not him. Arima slits his own throat. Eto tells him to become one eyed king. Furuta stages an attack on the CCG for him. Furuta resolves the clown raids himself, by operating both sides of the conflict.
Kaneki puts off making any kind of decision himself for as long as humanly possible, and when he finally does make that decision he goes back on it. He decided to return to Anteiku, he decided to return to the 24th ward all alone.
Tumblr media
We see countless parallels to the Anteiku raid. With Yomo saying that you have to live while losing once more, Touka choosing to run away from the conflict eventually rather than stay and fight, but I think most importantly of all Kaneki is once again stopped from achieving his want of protecting someone just short, by an equally obstinate force in Arata armor who just like him, refuses to change and instead chooses to protect what little they have remaining at the CCG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only that, but also Juuzou and Kaneki much like Amon and Kaneki had no reason to kill each other, and yet still fought because each considered their reason far more important than backing down.
Tumblr media
The translation for Jaiminis box is especially relevant here, for two reasons. One that Darum’s are supposed to carry each other’s wishes, and two that paradise is exactly what Kaneki was aiming for. A world where Humans and Ghouls could get along is certainly a utopia by the series standards.
Tumblr media
Kaneki is a Daruma, an eyeless doll that was meant to carry Arima’s wishes. Yet, this chapter brutally tells us what the result of that ambition was. To break him, Furuta shows us where Arima’s hope, the hope of the garden children led them.
Tumblr media
Yet, when Kaneki never once truly tried to follow Arima’s will, how could he expect a different result. He continued to use the garden children as child soldiers, even knowing that child soldiers could die, and as a result they did.
Tumblr media
Ghouls were being slaughtered in the streets and yet Kaneki never once showed up directly to fight for the sake of ghouls. He let the situation get this bad, for the annihilation rate to reach 88% and still acted as if he had a chance at winning. The only thing that moved him to maybe finally directly confront Furuta was the risk of a human life once again. Kaneki only ever showed up to protect CCG officers, he wasted resources to restore Akira a human, he considered risking everything to save Yoriko a human. All while claiming that he was fighting solely for the sake of ghouls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaneki blatantly and brazenly did not care at all for the masses he was claiming to be protecting, so why should he have been able to protect them at all?
Tumblr media
What we are witnessing right now is an eclipse. The moon has moved entirely in front of the sun, and we see the shadows at their longest points. All of the characters involved in this chapter, are born raw to us at their deepest and darkest.
Suzuya Juuzou was willing to slaughter the entire goat base, and even his good friend Haise for the sake of continuing to prop up a corpse. Even knowing that Shinohara himself might never come back.
Touka Kirishima sacrifices basically everyone and everything in order to try to make it out safely, only to realize that Hinami, Yomo, Take, all of those sacrifices were in vain. Not only that, but even if she did manage to make it out alive, Kaneki has already been cornered minutes before she even realized her own hopeless situation.
Miza simply clings to Naki’s dead body, and stays behind even after everybody has left as if that’s the only thing to live for. Naki looks to be truly dead, with perhaps Miza to follow soon after him.
Take seems to have failed utterly in his last purpose, the last thing Arima entrusted him with. Two out of three of the children in his care have died, perhaps four out of five if we’re going to flashback to the Tanakamaru and Aura fight soon.
Ui remains nowhere to be seen, Mutsuki is fried, Yomo is lifeless and marching towards his own certain death now. Nobody has achieved what they want. A true darkest point.
Yet.. why does Furuta leave Kaneki alive?
Tumblr media
Furuta has only bothered to leave someone alive on purpose once in the past, and it created the greatest threat to his power as the Washuu King.
Tumblr media
Furuta is not tactically stupid enough to leave loose ends. After all, the only time he’s ever surprised is when the audience is equally as surprised as him, such as Marude and Matsuri both coming back from the dead to challenge him. In those cases, with Marude’s disappearance, and Matsuri’s having several V squads sent after him he had every logical reason to assume they were dead. Furuta’s usual MO though, has always been to kill all the witnesses present, whether Matsumae, the V members with Eto, and even his attempt on Urie and Kuroiwa.
Tumblr media
So why would Furuta suddenly change his strategy now and leave it to Hajime to simply torture and toy with Kaneki until he died. It can look like sadism, but if you remember Donato similiarly toyed with Urie, and yet at the same time both left him alive and gave him the exact same words he needed to grow later on in the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was in despair and loss, what Kaneki has been avoiding from the absolute beginning where Urie finally learned.
So we have Furuta, our cruel and relentless teacher. There are also several hints left behind in the narrative still that this is not Kaneki’s final moments.
 1) The parallels between the Arima Kishou fight and Kaneki’s moment of realization when absolutely all looked loss [x].
2) The implication that Kaneki could reverse his problem with a massive amount of cannibalism.
Tumblr media
3) The fact that Dragon has yet to make an appearance despite being the so called final boss, and also that Uta suggested Dragon itself could be a weapon against the CCG rather than Goat.
Tumblr media
4) Furuta’s suggestion that first he would win, and then dragon would appear. Well, in this chapter we witness Furuta claiming his absolute victory without the appearance of dragon afterwards.
Tumblr media
5) The numerous amounts of foreshadowing that Furuta was orchestrating his own death, and actually did not care at all for V and the Washuu’s wars.
Tumblr media
(Furuta even makes a promise here that he’ll mess up the one eyed king for Eto. Earlier he suggests in gest that the two of them should work and cooperate together. )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6) The Nagaraaj. If the manga ends here then Ayato’s journey to the 24th ward was incredibly pointless. As well as the explanation about the old one eyed king. Ayato wouldn’t be strong enough to counter Juuzou so was the explanation simply to get him out of the way.
Tumblr media
Or was it forehshadowing to establish that if pushed to this point, this is a power that Kaneki himself could summon. That the same way the Original One Eyed King sunk the 24th ward an entire city in order to retreat from the newly formed black investigators and V, that when it seems all hope is lost, Kaneki might summon this power from himself. That this could be dragon, especially since Furuta deliberately says Dragon is named in honor of his Washuu roots. The legendary Nagaraaj are also dragon kings in the japanese version of the myth, according to @randomthoughtpatterns.
Not only that but the presence of Oggai all around him leave Kaneki with a framed out source of RC Cells to buffet on, if he truly decided to keep fighting.
7) 143 Parallels
Chapter 143 of Original Tokyo Ghoul, was called Ken [x]. Chapter 62, where Kaneki reached a similiar realization was called Kaneki.  Chapter 143, is completely without a title. In otherwords it’s nameless.
Perhaps then this is the chapter, where finally Kaneki accepts his role. Where he finally decides to truly become the nameless king.
Tumblr media
Only after having learned from the loss he experienced right in front of his eyes, what exactly it was that needed to be changed.

Crusader of Life 2: Chapter 11

Akira Kurusu, The Yakuza Prince of Kamurocho - Part One: Kiwami Family
December 11, 2005
It was getting to be Christmas time again and the temperature seemed to agree, even with winter temperatures slowly rising, Majima always being bothered by global warming ever since before losing his eye and his blood brother. But he didn’t have time to worry. Kazuma Kiryu is finally back in town and has already fought him on more than one occasion. ‘MAN he’s really out of shape. Guess having to be a good boy in prison will do that to a man.’ Majima thought to himself. He’s been wandering all over town looking for Kazzy. Though things are a bit different tonight. Everyone in his Family was busy on a job tonight so he hand to bring Kazuma with him. He decided it was kind of an awkward idea to name his son after Kazzy now that they’re both going to be in the same area. He’ll just keep calling Kiryu Kazzy or just Kiryu and his son Kazuma to keep things simple in his head.
Kazuma Majima seemed like an ordinary child, but having a father that’s also a high ranking and rather crazy yakuza has all it’s benefits and drawbacks. Today he was dragged all over town by his dad so he can fight Kiryu. From what his father has told him, Kiryu got into a fight with him before being arrested so Majima swore a sort of revenge on him. Though only being around 4, he didn’t really understand that much other than maybe Kiryu made fun of his dad. Whenever Majima saw him, and he wasn’t exactly hard to miss either. The guy wears all white with a red-pink undershirt in a sea of black and grey clothes. Kazuma thought he looked funny. He was no newbie to his father’s fighting tendencies, watching him fight plenty of people on the street, growing his admiration of his father: Goro Majima.
Kazuma didn’t know but his father held back a lot whenever he fought around him. It was more or less unavoidable considering himself. He didn’t want his son being sprayed with blood or teeth whenever he got into a street fight, I mean what self respecting parent would? In his recent fights against Kiryu, he decided to keep Kazuma a secret so Kiryu wouldn’t hold back in front of children either. At most he usually just kept him off to the side, or maybe even be a lookout for him whenever he hid in something. Though he guesses it looks a little strange for a 4 year old to be hanging out around giant traffic cones, manhole covers, and the like.
Tumblr media
To make sure his son had a good time, he made sure to go to fun places as well. Just recently he brought him to a place full of remote control car races, an arcade, and the bowling alley. Though it seems Kazuma is strangely good at blending with people, even in a city like Kamurocho. Goro nearly has a heart attack whenever he doesn’t see Kazuma in a crowd and then his son just sneaks up behind him and almost scares his coat off with a simple hi.
There was a little girl with Kazzy sometimes. Goro found it sort of odd but thought nothing of it. Though it did give him a new idea to use later without Kazuma being around, strictly a him and his Family operation. No place for kids minus the one Kazzy was with. What Majima didn’t know was that Kazuma seemed to of struck up a friendship with the older girl. She said Kazzy was her dad*, and Kazuma said that Goro was his dad. Her name was Haruka.
Tumblr media
Once enough fights happened though, they started placing bets. Unfortunately, Goro was on a losing streak tonight and Kazuma lost ¥500^ at the end of the night.
“Hey Kazuma.” Majima asked his son, “Dad?” Kazuma replied “You think this counts as an early Christmas gift? Traveling about the town and all that noise?” “Hmmm…” His son thought for a few seconds… “Nah.” Majima couldn’t help but give off a goofy laugh. He sort of expected that answer, but would honor it just the same. Kazuma yawned. Goro looked at his phone and saw it was getting pretty late and he hadn’t seen Kazzy anywhere. “Guess it’s time to go home, kid.” Goro told him. Kazuma nodded and they headed in for the night. They made their way to a cab and headed off to Majima’s apartment.
Unfortunately, Kazuma decided to start racing Majima without telling him right when they entered their building** and ran off. Goro, surprised by Kazuma suddenly running off, is stunned in silence for a couple seconds, before he runs after him.“Get back here!” He shouted a tad to angrily. Though the anger was more at himself than anything, for not realizing what was going on. Commence a chase sequence for a weirdly fast 4 year old and an oddly flexible 41 year old. Goro sees Kazuma up the corridor and running up the stairs, giggling all the way. Goro shakes his head and chases after the smaller Majima. Once up the stairs, he sees another pair of tenants carrying a couch through the hallway. Thinking Kazuma is stopped, Goro slows down a bit and jogs, but something happens that nearly makes his eye bug out of his head. He sees Kazuma somehow jump on one of the guy’s shoulders and ROLLS OVER THE 2 GUYS AND THEIR COUCH, and he continues running still!
After a brief moment of everyone processing what just happened, Majima continues running and slides between both guy’s legs like a pro baseball player. After running up some more stairs, Majima sees Kazuma enter their apartment and he dashes in after. When he closes the door, he can’t seem to find Kazuma anywhere. “Kazuma, get out here! Don’t run away from me like that!” He hears some small child laughter from in the bathroom and Majima enters it, and Kazuma dashes past him and starts climbing a nearby shelf. “GET DOWN FROM THERE YOU LITTLE DAMNED DEMON!” Kazuma stares back at him in shock and climbs back down and sits on the floor. Staring away from Majima. Majima can see him start crying. “Oh… oh Kaz I didn’t mean it!” Majima walks over to the sobbing Kazuma. He doesn’t exactly know what to do, since the kid has been pretty quiet ever since he was 2 and stopped all the regular baby crying.
Having a similar thought process flashing back to when he first found Kazuma, which boils down to ‘Do something’. He just straight up blurts out, “He Kaz, you wanna see something really special to me and my Family?” Kazuma looks at Majima with tears in his eyes, nodding after a few seconds. Majima really didn’t want his kid to know about the whole back tattoo thing, since he was still young and it might freak him out, but now he’s said too much and he really doesn’t want to show him the knife that gave him the eye patch... And image flashes in his head back to that fateful moment...
Tumblr media
Putting that image out of his head, Majima slowly turns around and dramatically throws off his snakeskin coat to reveal his Hannya Mask + White Snake back tattoo. Kazuma flinches but stares at his father’s tattoo. “See, I’m a demon too.” Majima said with a grin as he turned his head to look at Kazuma. After a taking a little bit to process it, Kazuma responds “It’s… really… cool…” through sniffs and tiny sobs. After a few more seconds, Kazuma starts laughing and Majima turns around and kneels back down next to him. He chuckles, “See? Being a demon isn’t so bad, eh?” “Does that make me Little Demon and you Big Demon?” Kazuma responds. Majima thinks for a moment then laughs once the joke gets to him...
And so whenever the 2 visit the family HQ, the family calls them The Mad Dog and Mad Pup of Shimano behind their backs…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A couple days later…
Goro Majima, following Kazzy Kiryu as usual, though this time Kazuma Majima is at school, so Goro Majima is alone for his usual stalking. He hopes Kazuma is doing good in school... Majima puts that out of his mind for now though. He sees something suspicious. A lot of goons seem to be following Kiryu around. Not wanting for Kazzy to die before he’s reached his full potential, he decides to text him and warn him about what’s going down and to take a cab. Majima himself also gets in a nearby cab and tells the driver to get to the pier.
He tells Kiryu what’s going down and right as he finishes up explaining, the goons that were following Kiryu around were formerly part of the Dojima family before Kiryu killed their boss. Majima doesn’t care too much and just wants these guys out of the picture so Kiryu can survive until his full potential. After their brawl, Majima finishes up kicking the other guy’s asses. After beating the hell out of the last guy, who took a lot of punishment before going down, another guy woke up for a few seconds and somehow got lucky enough to shoot Majima in the side. He wasn’t prepared for the shot and he stumbles back… ‘why isn’t there any ground?’ He wonders to himself, but now, it’s too late.
Tumblr media
He’s falling and his back isn’t hitting anything solid. Majima crashes into the water with a hard splash. He sinks into the water, blood flowing out of the wound in his side, pain overwhelming his senses, water entering his lungs. He can’t focus enough to start swimming. Is this the end for him? His eye starts blacking out. ‘Wonder if… Kazzy will save me…’ moments pass and nothing happens, as Majima continues to sink further into the ocean. ‘Damn…’ He’s getting too waterlogged and losing too much blood to properly swim anymore… His eye is blacking out more… ‘Sorry… Kazuma… Makoto… Saejima... I fuck up…’ Something flashes blue in his mind before fully falling unconscious...
Tumblr media
...To Be Continued?
* She’s just keeping up the illusion that Kazzy is her dad so nobody gets suspicious.
** Yes I’m having Majima live in a dingy apartment. He just doesn’t seem to care enough to live anywhere fancier.
^ $5 in American money. They’re children, it’s not like they’d have fucking stacks of cash on them.

That you are!
“Ma'am, I don’t know what you’ve heard, but whatever it is- either Furuta or the toxic side of the YoI fandom started it!”
I used to be firmly for Trans!Mutsuki but now I’m not so sure. I’m mostly just annoyed and kinda sad at how this particular issues is tearing the fandom apart…keeping away from major spoilers, when Saiko was trying to ask Mutsuki about something important a few chapters back Mutsuki was like “So….yeah. You figured out that I’m actually a girl.” and then abruptly left. That was mostly where the doubt started: Mutsuki refered to themself as a ‘girl’. Did this stem from insecurity about revealing themself as trans or was it because Mutsuki actually sees themself as female?
And then later on, “I’m almost embarrassingly female.” Does this mean that they find their female body a burden/embarrassing, or that they can’t help but acknowledge that yes, they do identify as female in the end? Doesn’t help that their expression during this scene is very difficult to read (the scene itself is quite disturbing in nature as well).
Then people started connecting the dots. During the auction arc Mutsuki once said to themself ‘It’s not that I think like a man’ and was disgusted when they felt men’s gazes following them. Add this to "I want to ‘live’ as a man" instead of “I 'am’ a man” and the fact that they were probably molested by their father as a child and the theory that maybe they’re just pretending to be male because even as they fear men, they believe being male to be a symbol of power, one that will keep them safe, becomes quite a bit more plausible.
Even more confusing since most of Mutsuki 'I am female’ moments seem to come during mental breakdowns so the fandom is up in arms about that too. Does the mental breakdown mean that they’re not in their right mind and just rambling, or does it make them speak the truth and stop hiding (like Kaneki’s memory breakdown during the Tsukiyama arc; it was then he finally stopped warping/denying his own memories about his mother)?
I personally believe that Mutsuki might turn out to be female after all (especially since this is a Japanese manga; Japan might be more accepting of the LGBTQ community than other East-Asian countries but from what I’ve learned it’s still got quite a bit of prejudice and stereotyping going on and LGBTQ individuals are viewed differently from how they are in the West. It would also tie in with Ishida’s overall writing style) but I don’t bash those who believe them to be trans because I really, really wanted them to be trans too…
I just wish the fandom would stop being so aggressive about this ;-;
(That parody tho)
True, true, Jean would make a good Angelica ^^ as for Dear Theodosia, don’t most of Burr’s songs fit really well with Jean? I think it’s proof that the Jean-Burr casting was meant to be.
OH YEAH I totally forgot about that. Hide-Peggy makes much more sense now XD they should form an 'awesome forgotten characters’ club!
Speaking of Hinami though, SPOILER but apparently she’s going to meet Akira soon.
Yeah, the only realy Hamilton AU we could achieve with TG is one where characters are forced into roles that don’t necessarily fit their personalities and therefore changes the outcome of the story (which could actually be a good thing; for example, if we cast Amon as Hamilton Say No To This would never happen).
But wait (lol). Doesn’t Urie actually fit much better with Burr?
In that case, it doesn’t matter who we cast. Urie-Burr would probably make the exact same mistakes as Musical!Burr did (if we’re talking about pre-character development Urie).
Well, to make up for Hide’s second death (who am I kidding nothing could make up for that) you now have the mental image of Tsukiyama rapping Guns and Ships at Yoshimura-Washington (or Shinohara-Washington).
And Koma like
“THE DEVIL APE A BARISTA SPYING ON THE CCG I TAKE THEIR COFFEE ORDERS, INFORMATION, AND THEN I SMUGGLE IT UP TO KANEKI’S REVOLUTIONARY COVENANT I’M RUNNING WITH THE GHOULS OF LIBERTY AND I AM LOVIN’ IT SEE, THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU’RE UP AGAINST THE RUFFIANS WE IN THE SHIT NOW, SOMEBODY’S GOTTA SHOVEL IT ENJI KOMA, I NEED NO INTRODUCTION WHEN YOU KNOCK ME DOWN, I GET THE FUCK BACK UP AGAIN”
(I could probably have made it rhyme/fit in with the actual lyrics if I wanted to but unfortunately I’m too lazy OTL maybe some other time
Also fun fact if you didn’t get to that point in the manga: Kaneki does have his own 'ghouls of liberty’ now)
As for Furuta, I think he’s probably going to get a tragic backstory too- everyone in TG gets the angst treatment. Ishida’s probably going to expand on his daddy issues. Also, there’s that one birthday poem Ishida wrote for him that strongly implies he’s suicidal/places little value on his own life, plus the fact that we can already assume he had a terrible childhood.
I’ve never heard of that anime but now you make me want to watch it…is it really worth a watch despite the 'wth’ elements? (Your Lie in April was the only exception I made for romance animes, but I’m willing to give anything a try as long as it’s got decent character development, is respectful with whatever themes it chooses to handle and doesn’t have too much fanservice (because frankly I find anime fanservice more cringey than anything…I always feel so embarrassed for everyone involved when it happens XD)).
And oh, thanks for letting me know! :D I hope it wasn’t too weird of a request ^^;;
Thank you so much for the ‘ripped s/o’ request! :D I really liked it!
Like, maybe it’s just me but I think Viktor (once he got used to it) and/or Chris might actually think it was hot. Dunno, just, in VIktuuri I can see Viktor being the sub (plus it’s kinda obvious that he’s really, really into Eros!Yuuri) so I think he’d find the idea of his s/o being a powerhouse appealing…especially since they don’t look it outwardly (what with being so smol and cute). He’d probably be determined to 'unleash the beast’ lol
(or maybe it’s just my personal bias because while I don’t have much of a preference when it comes to figure I still think muscular women look great)
Yuuri would probably be very much in awe once he recovered from the shock.
As for JJ, I think once he stopped flailing around his reaction would be a mix of betrayal and slight jealousy- “Wait, so all those times I was totally not struggling to carry you bridal style, you could have told me there was a reason you’re so heavy! And also, did you just let me treat you like a fragile doll when you were actually (not) stronger than me all along? WERE YOU JUST STROKING MY EGO BABE NO
Also let’s go to the gym together as soon as possible because I cannot wait to kick your ass
Nobody is allowed to be stronger than the King JJ
Not even his girlfriend”
Then s/o picks him up, throws him over her shoulder and takes him to his bedroom like 'boi, you need to calm down’
Peek-a-boo!
“Nimura Furuta died this morning (if only). I need a favour.”
That seems so complicated >_< I think I’m gonna stick to trans!Mutsuki (referring with he/him), simply because I haven’t reached that part in the manga and am still in the ‘Mu is male’ mode. Yeee, I don’t wanna go into that part of the fandom, I get enough shit from the yoi fandom already. Gaah, it really is complicated. I mean, I’m open to any Mu and don’t quite care if he decides to be male/female or genderfluid or whatever. I just want everyone to be happy ;-; And that’ll never happen because we’re talking about TG here. No one can be happy. It’s simple impossible.
The only thing we need now is a Hamilton for Jean... Ye, I don’t quite think we’ll be getting one. Except for Eren, but that LEAVES ALL THE PROBLEMS WE’VE DISCUSSED. SHIT. I’d pay to see Jean singing Dear Theodosia.
We can add Hide and Peggy to the club of forgotten characters along with Hinami (she is being forgotten it seems) and a few other characters I can’t think of right now XD
That’s the problem with TG. Most AUs are impossible, since the characters just don’t fit the roles nicely, they’re too grey to fit in. Gdi Ishida, you love making us suffer.
Oh yeah, Urie would be the best Burr! He’s a calculating character who’ll kinda suck ass to advance in positions. To think that this guy’s my favourite character along with Haise/Kaneki and Ayato...
I WANNA SEE TSUKIYAMA RAPPING HELL YEAH  HIS ACCENT WOULD MAKE IT SO MUCH BETTER LIKE, HED BE ABLE TO IMITATE LAFF SO WELL I AM CRYING HELP
You’ve seen my ‘I’ll manipulate everyone out’, didn’t you? That one fits evem worse than this, so shush.  I did reach that part, tho. One of the last things I remember is that hella sexy white suit Kaneki panel. I liked that one a lot ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Doesn’t everyone in TG basically have a tragical backstory, though? Like, name one (1) character who lived a nice and happy life without daddy issues suicidal stuff and so on.  There are none I can remember. Well, I guess you could say that Tsukiyama had a pretty nice childhood, but he’s pretty messed up now, so I don’t count him.
Hmm, I think some people would be able to ignore them, but I’m pretty sure that you wouldn’t like the anime. I mean, it’s quite rushed with little character development and has sO MANY WTH MOMENTS, HE’S 15 FOR FUCKS SAKE, WHY DOES HE SLEEP NAKED WHY ARE THERE SO MANY INNUENDOS WHY DO THEY KISS IT LOOKS CREEPY WHYYYYY
No, don’t watch that anime. If you want to watch a romance anime that’s really good and has development, watch Kyoukai no Kanata. AND MAGI. AND HOUKAGO NO PLEIADES. I can always hit you up with anime suggestions if you need them *finger guns (and ships)*
Ooh, I like those additions so much! Would you mind if I added them to the actual post?

Arimacat tried eto's purse trick to try to infiltrate akira's apartment & visit Catneki, but he's too big and just ended up crushing it (with dignity). akira had to be VERY firm to get him to move. amoncat is also surprisingly popular with children: they're just amazed that's he's so BIG and FLUFFY. and poor shinohara and juuzou! i hope the suzuya squad is keeping him company. maybe mrs. shinohara and the shinohara kids sometimes visit?
also, maybe amoncat was akira’s first cat responsibility when she started at the CCG section and then she was given the tough Catneki project that no one else wanted to take on?
 “Arima, no.”
Akira sighed, staring down the big lump of stubborn that was half in, half ontop of, her favourite purse. He gazed back at her unblinkingly. This was, what, the third time this week Arima had pulled this trick? She was absolutelyPOSITIVE she had hidden her purse in a drawer this time, too…“Mow.”Arima seemed to be issuing some kind of kitty decree. Akira sighed again (evenmore heavily…why wasn’t this day over yet?) and nudged Arima with the toe ofher boot. “You aren’t coming home with me. Attacking my purse hasn’t won you any pointswith me, either.”She muttered, continuously nudging Arima (he was such a pretty cat, but SUCH ALOAF),“C’mon, Arima. Seriously, I’ll stop visiting the shelter at this rate. Youwon’t even be able to smell Kaneki anymore.”Arima’s nose crinkled and he sneezed. He stretched, slow and elegant (even withhis back legs still trapped in her bag), then wandered off to go hide under abed or something. “Ugh, Kaneki is going to want to sleep in this now.”She said to herself, eyeing the mass of fur all over her purse, “I’m gonna have to leave it on the bed if I want cuddles.”
“WOAH! Miss, Miss, is that a LION!?”
Excited toddler #72 screamed in Akira’s ear. Her eye twitched, but she managedto smile gently at the boy.“Nope, Amon is a forest cat. They’re reeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy big!”She exclaimed, amused despite herself at the kid’s exuberance. “He’s as big as a WHOLE FOREST?”The kid asked, whirling on Amon who, true to his “all children are angels”attitude, didn’t even twitch. In fact, Akira was pretty sure he looked pleased(what a suck up). “Sure, whatever floats your boat.” She muttered under her breath, watching as the little boy scooped Amon up(though “up” was being generous…Amon was practically the size of this kid) andtwirled him in a circle. Amon chirred, somehow being crazy enough to findsailing through the air pleasant, and Akira shook her head. Off to the side, Touka stifled a laugh. She supposed another family would betrying to adopt Amon today. Too bad he wouldn’t willingly go with them.
The Shinohara family was visiting again. They didn’t eversay much when they came around these days. They’d step in the door, take offtheir shoes, and make a beeline for the closest couch. Soon, Juuzou would jointhem, the kids would smile (the tiniestthing), and Mrs. Shinohara would bury her face in his fur. Touka watched from the doorway, a bittersweet tilt to her lips. Whether theyadopted Juuzou or not, he was definitely a member of their family. Maybe she could give them clearance to take him to the hospital? She had heardtherapy animals could be good for coma patients…
As a kitten, Amon hadn’t been easy to care for. He’d beensick by the time they stole him away from Father on the streets. Nobody hadthought he would make it, a kitten that had been raised on meat instead ofmilk, and so (not unkindly) they had given him to their newest member to carefor. Akira had been too inexperienced to handle the cats with a decent chance ofsurvival. Hinami helped her out as often as she could, but Akira still thoughtshe’d been given Amon just to watch him die. Perhaps if she was somebody else,Akira would’ve let that be the end of it. However, she was a Mado. Mados were determined. They were dedicated. They wereobsessive perfectionists. She wasn’t ready to let her first charge die. Akira worked double shifts, triple shifts, late nights…anything to keep an eyeon the scraggly ball of fur that she had been asked to care for. Weeks went bywith variable results – some nights the fear that the kitten would slip awaywas strong enough to paralyze her. But finally, FINALLY, Amon was healthyenough to walk around on his own. And then he was healthy enough to run.Run away from her. During the rest of his kittenhood, Akira was something of a helicopter parent. Amonhad a bad temper and a worse penchant to get into trouble. He was defensive over the other cats in the shelter to the point of fighting any and everything thattried to get near them. Worse, he would pull the most ridiculous protective stunts. He would fish a kitten out of a half-frozen pond, winding up atthe vet himself. He would try to rescue another cat from the roof and getstuck. God, when he eventually warmed up to Akira he started trying to FEED her (so…many…mice). It took a long time for him to grow into himself. Too big ears became tuftedand fit his massive body. He got fluffier and fluffier. He became moreeven-tempered, more affectionate (the first time he’d nuzzled her of his ownaccord, Akira has secretly cried). It was a rewarding experience. When Akira started at this shelter, she knew that she loved cats. She wanted tohelp raise them, keep them safe, make sure they were happy. But she didn’t knowthat she loved them like children or friends. Amon was her first…friend. He was her favourite. Then, another impossible project was dropped in her lap. A mysterious streetcat, potentially the victim of experimentation, who was missing his other half.Kaneki was lonely, affectionate and terrified in turns, and couldn’t bare to bearound loud noises, angry people, any kind of intimidation…He feared the other cats. He was terrified of Touka for the longest time and even Hinami couldn’t getnear him.Akira though, was patient. Patient and expressionless and…(kind, that’s what Touka had told her. “You’re kind, that’s why I’mgiving him to you. Because you can go slow and wait years for him to trust you.Because you have that kind of kindness in you.”)
WhenKaneki first nuzzled her of his own accord, Akira didn’t even keep her tears asecret. He was her…child. Another favourite.

WARNING(S): OCC's, Parent!bashing, depressing!thoughts, suicidal!tendencies,
NOTES: "Japanese" "Italian" 'Thinking' 'Tsuna's eye speak' [Phone call]
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Amano Akira does.
Everyone that Tsuna had requested to be brought to  Nebesa was done in a flash. It was after all the baby hitman doing it. Nobody had wasted any time in doing so and the next day when the members of the household left Ienari alone, he didn't make up such a fuss.
Why?
Luckily, Ienari had a soccer tournament that  day and had to be gone anyway. He was however suspicious as to why everyone was leaving but he had to search for his guardians too. So far, he had none and he needed to talk to Reborn about teaching him the strong stuff already.
Ienari frowned as he headed where the tournament was held. What is going on? Kaa-san took the crying brat, the Chinese brat, the girl-who-looks-like-a-boy brat with her. Bianchi went along with her too. Are they planning something?
Ienari looked up at the sky for a moment before saying out loud, Naah. Not possible. She's so dense that she doesn't even realizes me and dad abusing Dame-Tsuna. Ah, the benefits of having such a naive mother.
His thoughts darkened at dame-Tsuna. I'll have to get rid of him soon. Dad said that we just have to wait for a few more days before we dispose of him.
Ienari smirked as he thought of the latest plan of his father to get rid of his brother. Finally, he'll be gone and no-one will even care for him. Hmph, he should have just died 8 years ago.
XX..XX
"Now explain Mama, Tsuna. What is going on?" Reborn asked frustrated that his boss had been hiding something from him.
Tsuna was stiff where he was sitting and Nana's usual smiling face was lost. She looked at her frozen son at her side before sighing.
"I'll tell you th-"
"BOSS!" a voice cut her off as the door slammed open. Looking over, they saw a panting Nebesa member who brightened as he saw who he was looking for. "Boss! Thank god you're here right now!"
[Is something wrong?] Tsuna wrote down as he directed the question to the panting man.
"Yes!"
[What is it?]
"Force A was defeated and are being healed in the infirmary. The enemy is still attacking..."
Now Tsuna looked startled at the aspect that Force A was defeated. Even Mukuro, Ryohei, Chrome and Hibari looked shocked for a moment before schooling their faces.
"THAT'S EXTREMELY IMPOSSIBLE! THEY ARE THE STRONGEST GROUP TO THE EXTREME!" Ryohei yelled out and that was enough for the rest of the Mafia members to understand that the situation was small.
Tsuna got up and motioned for the man to lead him to the control rooms as he looked at Reborn and said, 'Ask mother what is going on.'
Reborn nodded as they saw the brunet leave the room and deal with the enemy on his own.
"Omnivore, help?" (do you need help, omnivore?)
Tsuna shook his head and the others nodded and believed Tsuna would be able to take care of the matter. Once Tsuna had left, Reborn looked at Nana who coughed to gain the attention that was lost.
"Right, let me continue. As I was sayin-"
"BOSS!"
Everyone groaned as the door once again flew open and another panting Nebesa member was there.
"What is it now?" Reborn asked darkly
The Nebesa member seemed to falter before asking, "W-Where is b-boss?"
"He left to the control room already," Chrome said quietly as she didn't want anybody else to kill the poor member.
"Thank you very much, Chrome-sama!"
"Tell the others of this too and avoid disrupting us!" Gokudera yelled. The member 'hai'ed before leaving the room in haste.
"Now, please continue," Takeshi said, a frown marring his usual happy face.
"8 years ago, I wasn't the best mother a child would want. At that time, I was still under the delusion that my husband loved me very much and my two babies got along together very well. It was only a year later that I learned what my oldest son was hiding from me." (A/N: This is after Tsuna gets his memories from the parallel world. He didn't tell Nana about these memories though)
Everyone remained quiet as they could hear the sounds of people running outside.
"It turned out that my husband wasn't the I-love-both-my-sons-equally and Ienari wasn't the I-love-my-brother type either."
"What do you mean, Mama?" Reborn asked, lowering his fedora downwards.
Nana took a shaky yet deep breath as she recounted what she had seen 7 years ago.
---
Nana was humming in the kitchen, making dinner for her family today. Her husband had come home yesterday without telling her and couldn't make a feast like she usually does.
Thump.
Nana looked startled as a big sound was made. She furrowed her eyebrows as she went upstairs to see what was happening. Usually, she would ignore these kinds of noises but today, her instincts were telling her to check it out. As she walked upstairs, she could her more blurred voices, becoming louder and louder as she went up. Soon, she realized that the noise was coming from her oldest son's room.
'What is going on inside?' she thought as she tried to remember what her son could be doing that made these many voices. Hard as she tried, she couldn't remember. She couldn't remember what her son liked, needed, enjoyed. She couldn't even remember if her son had a project or anything. It was then horror filled her mind. 'Oh no, I've been ignoring Tsu-kun...'
With that thought, she stopped mid-way on the stairs. 'He couldn't be trying to kill himself, now could he? Oh  my god, what kind of mother am I to have ignored my own son?'
Thud~
Startled out of her reverie, she continued to walk forward to her oldest son's room. She was about to make a call for her son when she heard something akin to a whimper. Freezing in her tracks once again, she made up her mind to be quiet as possible and find out what's going on.
Luckily for her, Tsuna's door was slightly opened and she peeked inside. What she saw had her eyes widened.
There stood her husband holding a knife to Tsuna's throat as he brought the knife across his throat. Her youngest son stood there in the corner smirking to himself. Time seemed to still for a moment as she couldn't recall how to breath.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw how her son was quickly bleeding and her husband and son did nothing to help. Instead, they took turns carving something on Tsuna's body, drawing more blood.
She couldn't scream nor breath at the moment. She was stuck frozen. She couldn't believe what was happening in front of her. No, she didn't want to believe but the proof was right in front of her eyes. Her family, the one she thought was the perfect one, was broken.
She felt anger swell in her as thoughts flooded her mind. 'Why didn't Tsuna tell me?! Was I that unworthy?'
Just as her anger swelled for her son's insistence on staying quiet, it diminished all together. Instead, it was filled with dread and realization. She was never the best mother and never is. Even now, she was stuck to the root and couldn't help her son when he needed her the most. She had realized that Tsuna had started to talk less in their presence and had started wearing longer sleeves. He had also started to avert himself away from them.
She never paid it any attention and now she was regretting it. She saw how Iemitsu and Ienari seemed to be satisfied with what they did and were about to leave. Quickly hiding herself, she saw the two pass her laughing about their accomplishment and how they should get a reward for their hard work.
She heard them call out that they were going outside, heard them leaving the house, heard the definite click of the keys locking the door, heard their laughter from outside. After seeing what she saw, her senses had sharpened.
Coming out of her hiding spot, she made her way towards her oldest son's room. The door was still open and this time, she didn't just stay outside, she rushed in. She hurriedly called the hospital and told them to come quickly.
While she waited for the ambulance to come, she went to the bathroom where she was sure the First Aid kit was placed. She quickly went towards her bleeding son and tried to stop the wound on his neck. "T-Tsu-kun, p-please hold o-on. D-Don't die o-on me. P-Please," she mumbled out while tears fell uncontrollably. She had some First Aid knowledge but she wasn't a doctor and her son needed a doctor right now!
"I-It's.. f-fine," a weak voice croaked. Looking down, she saw her son, her bleeding son, smiling weakly and trying to get up.
"W-What are you doing?! You are bleeding!" She yelled as she tried to stop her son from doing anything stupid.
"Y-You are d-doing it w-wrong," he mumbled out weakly as she saw her son's eyelids drooping. She couldn't think at all, right now. Her son was about to bleed to death and was somehow still conscious. She saw how Tsuna directed her hands albeit weakly and slowly to stop the bleeding wound.
After a few minutes, the ambulance came and Tsuna was rushed to the hospital. She was asked many questions but she couldn't answer them truthfully. She couldn't tell anyone the truth and even if she did, no-one would believe her. She didn't have any proof, no matter what the condition her son was in.
As she waited for her son to be sent to the admission room, Nana was trying to digest what had just occurred.
Ring~
Her cellphone rang. As though on auto pilot, she accepted the call and pressed the phone to her ears.
[Hello Nana!]
[I-Iemitsu! W-What's wrong?]
[Just wanted to tell you that I'll be taking Nari out to Tokyo for 2 days. He wanted to visit it for buying the best soccer shoes for his upcoming tournament. You wouldn't mind being alone for 2 days right?]
[O-Of course not! Enjoy!]
[Love you, Nana! Bye!]
Nana was completely blank as she realized that her husband was acting completely normal after what he and her son did. They wanted to go to Tokyo while her oldest son battled for his life?!
She could feel her love vanishing completely for them. Instead, it was filled with hatred and wanted to get revenge.
Just as she was thinking about this, the doctor came out and said that her son was stable and that he'll regain his consciousness in a few hours. However, he wouldn't be able to speak for long times since his windpipe was damaged a little. She felt fear invading her mind as she thought of never hearing her son's voice ever again.
Wiping away her tears, she set by her son, watching him peacefully sleeping as though nothing had happened. If only that were the case.
She was happy though that her son and husband wouldn't be here for two days. This way she would get a chance to figure out what exactly she had been ignoring and probably rectify it.
Time seemed to be passing by very slowly for her and after waiting 2 painstaking hours, did her son regain his consciousness. She couldn't talk to him immediately as the doctor and nurses checked him for any abnormality. After a few minutes, she sat by her son's side and took in his pale hand in hers.
Remaining silent for a while, she finally asked, "Tsu-kun, please tell me the truth. Has this been going on for a while now?"
She saw how her son's eyes lost more of the hope in and he nodded silently. "What else?" she asked. Seeing the confusion on Tsuna's face, she clarified, "What else did they do to you?"
There was horror in his son's eyes before they became blank again as he shook his head in denial. She squeezed his hand, "Please Tsu-kun, tell me. I-I already know what they did and why you are in the condition. I'll be able to believe you so please tell me," she begged her son to tell her. She couldn't bear it anymore, she wanted to know the truth and at this point, she wouldn't even be listening to Iemitsu or Ienari.
It took her another few tries before he relented, telling her everything and Nana's hatred continued to rise.
"Pretend this never happened" a very weak voice sounded in the room. Nana froze for a minute before glaring, yes glaring, at her son.
"Why should I be ignoring this?! You told me that Iemitsu is a Mafioso and can kill us anytime he wants but that doesn't justifies anything! He's hurting you!"
"Hurt you after... telling truth," Tsuna said brokenly. Despite that, Nana seemed to understand him clearly.
"It doesn't matter!"
"Ienari won't stop... will torment me for.. taking you away," he said later, causing Nana to freeze. She had seen the evilness in Ienari's eyes. She recalled the times where she had dismissed many things on her imagination but it turned out to be something else now. Her son was filled with jealousy and wanted attention. If this happened today and I would confront them, Ienari wouldn't stop.
She sighed in frustration before she felt a hand on her hands. Looking up, she saw a bit of the light returning to her son's eyes, "Help.. come... in future."
She whispered, "Will it save you from them?"
Tsuna didn't say anything but nodded, "Promise... pretend."
She bit her lips, "I promise but... if there's nobody to help you when you are on the verge of death, then I'm breaking it."
Tsuna nodded and gave her a weak smile.
---
"And that's the truth. Ever since then, Tsuna's been telling me of the Mafia and assuring me that help will come soon and I have to wait."
She hesitated for a second before saying, "Help did come. In the form of Reborn. For that, I thank you."
There was silence and everyone had their eyes wide. Shamal spoke first, "How did Tsunayoshi know that Iemitsu was in the Mafia?"
"He was threatened by Iemitsu and had told Tsu-kun the truth."
Shamal nodded and from the corner of his eyes, he could the stiff posture of the hitman. It seemed that the child had really affected him.
All of Tsuna's guardians were shocked as well. They had their suspicions but to actually find out it's true was shocking. They grit their teeth in frustration especially Mukuro, Chrome, Hibari and Ryohei. They were the first ones to remember and were the first ones to be friends with him and they hadn't noticed this kind of thing.
They were aware how Tsuna was able to hide his pain in their counterpart's world. It seems this world's Tsuna could do it too and very efficiently. Reborn, still hadn't spoken a word and that was unsettling. The tense atmosphere was broken when a door slammed open, once again.
"BOSS!"
Everyone turned to the third panting Nebesa member with a deadpanned expression.
"Herbivore," Hibari growled.
The member seemed to fluster before answering, "I-I need B-Boss..."
"He's in the control room!" Takeshi said
"He isn't! He left after the problem was solved by saying he was coming here."
"Well, he isn't here," Bianchi pointed out. "Why are you even looking for him?"
"Ah, Boss has some paperworks to do and he said he'd do it after he's done with a very important business," the former yakuza member said.
For a while nobody spoke before Mukuro eerily chuckled, "It seems that the little bunny has run away."
The ones who remembered their past merely nodded and Reborn sighed. "Do you need him to do the paperworks or can someone else do it?"
"Well, Liu-san can but..."
"Is he on vacation?"
"No"
"Away?"
"No.."
"Sick?"
"...No"
"So, get him to do it!" Reborn growled out.
The former yakuza straightened up before saluting goodbye.  Reborn looked at Nana for a while before saying, "We'll get both of you out of there and there is no need for pretend anymore. I'll take care of Ienari and Iemitsu isn't here at the moment."
Nana smiled in relief and said, "Arigatou Reborn-kun."
Reborn nodded his head before murmuring loud enough, "Now how to teach both of them...?"
Nobody dared question what he meant by it and were quite aware that the hitman and the two twins were going to have an amazing meeting.
