Andal: *continues to pretend, then looks up with a smirk* "Yes, may I help you?"
Kanha: *holding out the garland* "Here, you owe me my daily dose of flower garland."
Andal: *playfully* "Well, you have it in your hand; wear it yourself."
Kanha: *gasps dramatically* "Blasphemy, how could you!"
Andal: *smiling.* "Well, what do you owe me if I wear the garland first?"
Kanha: *leaning in, whispering,* "Me."
Thus, my dear people, Ranganatha(Kanha) always wears the garland once adorned the chest of his lovely Andal/Kothai.

so there’s this game idea i had…
It was completely based on this dream i had lol
The game is more in the style of a 3rd-Person horror game, rather than Destiny’s usual FPS format, and this is the premise:
You are Andal Brask, Hunter Vanguard, stuck in some snowy, mountainous wasteland in the aftermath of Taniks the Scarred’s first ambush on you, and now you must either find a way to kill him or find a way to get back home in one piece. Taniks’ initial attack left your Ghost damaged and your connection to the Light is wavering at best, leaving you without a surefire way to heal, much less revive yourself. Consequently, connecting to coms and transmat links has proven to be nigh impossible—the blizzard you find yourself stuck in proving to be no help in the slightest—and has left you cut off from the rest of the world, your only company being your broken Ghost. To make matters infinitely worse, your ambusher continues to stalk you through the storm, hot on your heels and hellbent on finishing what he started.
With no ammo, no way to heal and no one out here to save you, can you find a way home before your killer finds you?

Hari- the Eternal Source
śaṃkara uvāca | trayī sāṃkhyavedāṃtayogāḥ purāṇaṃ tathā pañcarātraṃ prabho dharmaśāstram | tavaivātimāhātmyamekasya nityaṃ prakārairanekairhi gāyaṃti bhaktyā || 3 ||
tvadeveśa śāstrāṇi caitāni bhūmno babhūvustvadekāśrayāṇyādikalpe | ramāsevyapādāmbujaṃ śāstrayoniṃ tamādyaṃ bhavantaṃ bhaje vāsudevam || 4 ||
Śaṅkara said:
3. O Lord! The Three Vedas, Sāṅkhya, Vedānta, Yoga, Purāṇa, Pāñcarātra as well as Dharmaśāstra—all these devoutly sing in various ways the supreme majestic glory of yours alone.
4. In the first Kalpa (Ādi-Kalpa), it is from you, the great one, alone that these Śāstras were born and they have you as their only resort, O Sovereign Lord. I betake myself to you and worship you, the Primordial One whose lotus-feet are served by Ramā, who are the source of the origin of Śāstras.
(Taken from Wisdom Library )
This is a small portion of Chapter 15 of Vaasudeva Mahatmya from Skanda Purana. The essence of these verses is to talk of how Vishnu is every little and every big thing in this Universe.
There is a constant struggle about whether the Puranas are right or not, through things I have read, that contradict with what I have learned as a child, which clash with some beliefs even- and it is actually very true that they have been interpolated heavily, over the years.
That is why, the first basis of reference and understanding comes from Itihaasa- that which has happened. There are two Itihaasas or epics in Sanatana Dharma, Valmiki Ramayana and Mahabharata. Of course, Harivamsa is included in this list, as it is a khila of the Mahabharata itself.
It sounds a bit crazy when I speak of how Itihaasas come first and yet I posted something from a Purana, does it not? Well, the reason for it is to remind people that Shastras originated from the ParaBrahman- be they Vedas, Upanishads, Itihaasas, Puranas and various other works. And every form of ParaBrahman are the origin of such, based on how one's own Ishta/Aaradhya.
Many months ago, I had asked if I should post something on Sanatana, and finally, I got the time to start. As always, I wondered where to start, and this specific tab was open. Hari, as always, gave me an indication.
I will be much more consistent with posting henceforth, so expect interpretations, rants, aesthetics, story snippets and so on to be shared.

oh, andal. i once said my type can be summarized by annoying and that is the thesis of andal (the main love interest in my wip haha)
have a little pinterest board for the loml <3
andal madhavan is loud, annoying and has zero grasp of social cues. on first glance she is your stereotypical tamil girl who hates everything about north india and has a distaste for hindi even after living in a predominantly hindi for years. she's a pitch perfect singer, insanely talented at bharatanatyam, speaks perfect textbook tamil, and adults fucking love her. she's insanely competitive and kind of (unintentionally) bitchy (in the sense she makes everything into a competition and is insufferable when she wins. she will correct your grammar unprovoked, a huge pet peeve of natya's) and rubs off the wrong way on people a lot. really though she's fierce and protective and cares a lot about the people she loves and is at heart an extremely lonely girl who never learnt how to relate and connect with other people. she's had a crush on natya forever and genuinely believes they're besties (they both have single moms who are best friends and basically were destined to grow up together from the womb) except natya kind of hates her fucking guts lol (andal, in typical andal fashion, is completely clueless to this)
send me an emoji and ill tell you a little something about my wip

[excerpt from] "The Song to Rain Clouds" by Kōtai-Āṇṭāḷ
8.1
Clouds spread like blue cloth across the vast sky Has Tirumal my beautiful lord of Venkatam, where cool streams leap come with you? Tears gather and spill between my breasts like waterfalls. He has destroyed my womanhood. How does this bring him pride?
8.2
Clouds that spill lovely pearls what message has the dark-hued lord of Venkatam sent through you? The fire of desire has invaded my body I suffer. I lie awake here in the thick of night, a helpless target for the cool southern breeze.
8.3
So easily they left me my lustre, my bangles, thought, sleep I am destroyed. Compassionate clouds I sing of Govinda’s virtues lord of Venkatam, where cool waterfalls leap. How long can this alone guard my life?
8.4
Clouds bright with lightning tell the lord of Venkatam upon whose lovely chest Sri resides that my supple young breasts yearn everyday for his resplendent body.
8.5
Great clouds rising into the sky climb high, rain hard on Venkatam scatter flowers brimming with honey. Ask the one who tore the body of Hiranya with his long nails flecked with blood to return the conch bangles he took from me.
8.6
Cool clouds heavy with water rise high and pour down on Venkatam, home of the one who took the world from Mahabali. Tell that Narana he entered me, consumed me, stole my well-being like a worm that feasts on a wood-apple Tell him of my terrible disease.
8.7
Cool clouds place the plea of this servant at the feet of the one with beautiful lotus eyes him who churned the ocean filled with conch. Beseech him to enter me for a single day to wipe away the vermilion smeared upon my breasts only then can I survive.
8.8
Dark clouds ready for the season of rains chant the name of the lord of Venkatam who is valiant in battle. Tell him, like the lovely leaves that fall in the season of rains I waste away through the long endless years waiting for the day when he finally sends word.
8.9
Rain clouds rising like great war-elephants over Venkatam what word has that one who sleeps upon the serpent sent for me? The world will say: ‘heedless that he was her only refuge he killed this young girl.’ What honour is there in this?
8.10
Kotai of the king of Puduvai, the peerless city, desired the one reclining upon the serpent and sent the clouds as her messengers to the king of Venkatam Those who place in their hearts these verses of Tamil sung by her of luminous forehead those who sing these words of Tamil will be with him forever.

I was listening to Nachiyar Thirumozhi and it got me thinking...the love of Andal is fine and we feel it in every word, but who is the Thozhi and why Andal have to recapture her after every stanza? Kanaa kanden thozhi naan
I mean there's a lot of comedic potential there if you imagine the Thozhi trying to get on with her day and Andal just yanking her back after every stanza to delve deeper and deeper into her covert dream-assisted wedding planning
At which point does the Thozhi go like yeah yeah Ranganatha is a cutie, we get it, more power to you but I still have a human life to live and many human chores to complete

Please allow me to thank you for answering my query R.E. the ‘Common Hand’ and thank you also for throwing in some info about ‘Old Andal’ to boot! (Also, please allow me to apologise for letting curiosity get the better of me when I ask “Are you at liberty to share any samples of your Andal lexicon with us? I know there are likely to be legal complications associated with this sort of thing, so I will understand if the answer is “No”).
Eh, it's more like since the show it was used in didn't become canon, it might become weird if some other show down the line develops an Andalish language, whether by me or not, and the language is different. For example, Gerna Mohr, the language of the Children of the Forest, was originally called Gerna Mosha. It was called that because it was the literal translation of "The Song of the Earth" into the language, but when I went to use it for The Long Night, George R. R. Martin didn't like the sound of the name. That put me in a difficult spot, because it was a rather morphologically complex bit of language, and while I could change a root, a lot of it had to stay the same (like the m). I was VERY fortunate that he liked Gerna Mohr, because if not, I might have had to rip the language out by the roots and REALLY start over.
So, yeah, that's part of the problem of sharing some of these things that never officially became canon (like the sketch for Asshai'i). You hate to put in that work and get attached to something and then have to redo it.
There are some things I thought were pretty cool. Like, check out this declension I came up with for septa (a title as in Septa Mordane; note, doubled vowels are long, gh is [ɣ]):
NOM: septa (sg.) septaha (pl.)
ACC: septa (sg.) septassa (pl.)
GEN: septaahan (sg.) septahan (pl.)
DAT: septaata (sg.) septaada (pl.)
VOC: septassa (sg./pl.)
Couple things might look a little odd, but if you compare it a c-final form like theileg (think this meant "man", but I can't find it in my online notes; it's in a notebook somewhere), it comes together a bit:
NOM: theileg (sg.) theilegha (pl.)
ACC: theilegha (sg.) theileks (pl.)
GEN: theilegan (sg.) theileghan (pl.)
DAT: thelekta (sg.) theleighada (pl.)
VOC: theileks (sg.) theleksa (pl.)
The stress system here is antepenultimate, but it moves to a heavy penultimate syllable, where present. (Also, there's an alternation here where a long vowel shortens when unstressed. I wrote long [e] as ei because I didn't want it to be pronounced [i] if I wrote it ee.) Anyway, there's some fun stuff there. Hopefully that gives you a bit of an idea.

Andal, "Taniyan, from Tiruppavai" in "The Secret Garland", translated by Archana Venkatesan.
"She awakened Krishna asleep
on Nila's breasts that rise like twin hills
She bound him
with garlands of flowers she had worn
She reminded him
of the duties revealed in a hundred srutis
To that Goda
we bow
we bow.
Praise
Andal of Puduvai
with its swans and fields
the woman who gave the lord of Arangam
the many verses of the Tiruppavai
that lovely and melodious garland of songs
her who gave the lord
garlands of flowers she had worn
radiant creeper
who gave what you had worn
You whose wrists are stacked with bangles
expertly sang of the ancient pavai vow
You quested for the lord of Venkatam
knowing him to be your fate
and sang of it:
We pray we never forget these poems."
