Just got two emaciated Oriental shorthair kittens. They're meant to be very lean cats but these two are just bones. They've got purrs that weigh more than they do.

They're just here for a little while and will be transferred to another rescue once they've put on a little weight.

Great news, Athena’s back with her flock again! Sorry I didn’t update more, but I think she was dealing with Enteritis. It’s caused by a bacterial overgrowth in the digestive system - probably caused by the stress of a rough molt. I’m no vet, of course, but with a course of antibiotics, plus probiotics and Corid (since enteritis and Coccidosis often go hand in hand, and I wanted to cover all my bases), she’s back to her normal lively self! She’s gained weight and has a great appetite even for regular chicken feed, and most of her feathers have grown back too. I imagine she’s lonely without her flock and she’s been depending on me for companionship and enrichment, which isn’t easy for me since I feel bad leaving her alone and so I end up neglecting errands and chores. So I reunited her with her flock and made sure she was snuggled up on the roost with them for the night. I hope she’s able to stay healthy for many more years to come, she’s really a special and precious bird.

for the record, cutting your own hair with kitchen scissors when coming out of a protracted multi-day panic episode triggered by getting slingshotted back into a traumatic event you thought you had gotten over which was compounded by your cat nearly dying and having to shell out $1300 (nearly maxing out a credit card and overdrawing your bank account in the process) to stop the vomiting and confirm that it's something that will pass on its own if we can just keep the symptoms under control, on a day when the vast majority of your caloric intake was veggie straws and wine -- not the best idea ever. hopefully after i wash it, i will no longer look like moe from the three stooges.

My dog’s ear bled again today. Same as last time.

It’s what we initially feared. He has a tumor in his ear canal. It’s pea-sized right now, that we can see. It could be deeper. Due to his age and the meds he is on, surgery is not an option. All we can do now is keep him comfy and happy. 

It could be months, or a few years. We don’t know. But my heart hurts. This dog, my Vinny, has gotten me through so much. He helped me through the loss of my mother and sister. I’m not ready to even think of saying good-bye. I try not to post too much about this, but sometimes it does help to get it in writing and work it out that way.

Anxiety disorder plus ADD/ADHD makes this worse. Cause now there’s that wretched fixation. And it’s VERY hard to break. I apologize in advance to everyone following who may be sensitive to this sort of thing. I have it tagged, kinda? But if any of you know of better tags, PLEASE let me know. I will tag it appropriately.

Normally I don't post these sort of 'crowdfunding' type posts, not even back on my chattoter, but I'm really desperate and my boy isn't looking too hot.

Does anyone happen to have any cans, junk, or metalworking scraps? I was going to get some but, unfortunately, the rain hit before I could make it to the store. Thankfully we were able to get back to the apartment safely but Berior isn't doing too hot after the exposure. I live in Lumiose right across from Red Cafe; not sure if there's a safe way to get it over here yet but you're welcome to crash here. I also have a drone I can send out (made of plastic unfortunately or I would have scrapped it already). I've got a few more days worth of iron-rich meat but I've scrapped about everything I don't absolutely need.

My poor little Theen-Bean is doing much better today! She’s even eating real chicken feed now instead of just treats, which is a huge relief. She’s also preening herself thoroughly now, something she wasn’t well enough to do before. I still haven’t seen her drink on her own, so I’ve still been giving her water with a syringe. I still want her to stay inside for a bit longer; since she’s so skinny, I worry she’ll get too cold outside now that the weather’s getting chilly out there. She’s an absolute darling so I don’t mind at all!

My dad decided not to take her to the vet bc he did his own research and decided she would have had a reaction by then, yelled at me for leaving the dog in the crate so I could watch her, and communicated very poorly by only saying we would not be taking the dog to the vet instead of giving reassurance about her being fine bc of said research. Honestly he sucks anyways and I’m leaving soon it’s just taking a while

Your dad sounds horrible and I fully support your decision to leave him behind. Even IF he had a valid reason not to take the dog to the vet he could and should have shared that information with you at the time instead of getting mad

I had to bring Morgan to the emergency vet today. She didn't eat or drink anything yesterday or today, and has been very lethargic. The vet said she's running a fever and is dehydrated. The initial blood test didn't turn up anything, so they're keeping her overnight and giving her fluids, nausea meds, and pain meds, in the hopes that she'll feel better enough to eat. I hope she's feeling better enough tomorrow that she can come home, and that it's nothing too serious.

Guess who’s eating AND drinking on her own now! That’s right, Athena’s on the mend! I could have jumped for joy when I saw her take a drink, that means no more eyedroppers and syringes to give her water! She’s also eating her chicken feed now, but I’m still giving her treats and stuff to help her gain weight. And now that she’s stable, I gave her some dewormer, in case that’s why she lost so much weight. Anyway, I’m so happy with her progress, she’s so precious and my heart would have broken if I lost her.
