Repost from @educate_dont_hate_ @chris.360 ・・・ This was Willow, the pig that I originally raised for slaughter through FFA. I bought her on February 28, 2015 and immediately fell in love with her. She was the sweetest little girl—curious about everything and always (and I mean ALWAYS) wagging her tail. She was just like a puppy, chewing anything and everything and giving unconditional love to anyone she met, human or animal. I distinctly remember that perhaps one of her favorite things to do (besides chew on my boots) was to suck on my fingers. All of the other pigs at the school farm would bite, but not Willow. She was the truly the sweetest thing anyone could ask for, exuding happiness seemingly 24/7. When we got to fair and it came time to sell her I just couldn't. I looked into her eyes and realized that I wouldn't be able to sell her to slaughter. I'd already had a buyer and a price established, but I called them back three days before auction and told them that I wasn't going to sell her. So I kept her until her untimely death on November 4, 2015, a year ago today. She'd gotten pneumonia, a common and often fatal disease for pigs. I miss her so much, as she'd had such a huge impact on my life. Not long after I'd gotten her I stopped eating pork, because she made me realize that she had been destined to be someone's bacon, or pork chop, or Christmas ham. Someone as innocent and loving as her was bred to be murdered for somebody's dinner. That thought horrified me, and even though I didn't go vegan until some months after her death, I still consider her my first slow step towards veganism, and for that I am eternally grateful.
