what pisses me off the most about the jekyll and hyde musical is that robert louis stevenson explicitly said to NOT make the inner conflict about sex but meanwhile frank wildhorn was like "lol bozo" and made it about jekyll/hyde choosing between a virgin and a whore like HUH.

#the whole point is that jekyll HAS ALWAYS BEEN A HORRIBLE PERSON #it's just that hyde allows him to EXPRESS those awful urges freely #it's all about the human psyche and human morality so making it about sex is just...... Here we see the transition from Yor modo: Sweet, tender, adoring mother comforting her baby to Yor modo: IF YOU COME NEAR ME AND ME DAUGHTER I WILL DESTROY YOU INTO PIECES AND EAT THEM UP!!!!

You know: if you mess with Yor, you get your teeth!

I find it amusing to think that Twilight asked nicely for the clothes and surely the very confused minister saw this spy come in, take his clothes and get naked.

And the icing on the cake with Twilight taking off his mask in a very fiery way, and wielding her weapon!!! A dramatic, action-packed sequence that concludes this great chapter!!!

I want to make a whole separate post talking about all the drama in this chapter, so I preferred to leave all the exciting and funny scenes for this post and will only make brief comments about it:

I saw that many anime viewers criticize Yor, that despite being an assassin she is a careless mother for always losing Anya. I find that somewhat accusatory, since actually to me Yor is an amazing mother. Obviously, it's convenient for the plot that Anya is lost because she needs to help her parents without having to reveal her powers. For many parents losing their children or being kidnapped is a sad reality, and this is not because it is careless, for anyone it is impossible to control every aspect around them.

Surely Yuri as a child did not run away from Yor, and she learned to trust him. But Anya is different, and circumstances make her disobey as she has no options. But Yor always desperately seeks her out, and appears to annihilate anyone who dares to harm his daughter.

Clearly Anya felt terrible for worrying her mother, and making her feel guilty for actions she does. This scene is very sweet and very melancholy. Because while Yor may not be perfect in her role as a mother, no one is…. She was really worried, but she understands that this is not the time to reprimand her, just be thankful that her daughter is ok.

While Yor is sloppy in some respects, Twilight is sloppy in others. They both complement each other in that way as parents. At the end of the day they are both there to protect her.

Finally, it was a great chapter, with hilarious, exciting moments but with a very dark undertone that I'll talk about later!!!

[stumbling-through-adulthood]

So, I’ve started watching 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star (I’m actually like 90% I watched all of at least season one of the og at some point before dropping of it forever ago), and there’s something that I’ve noticed as a clear difference between the two. 

Now, I’m just starting season 5 of the OG and season 3 of LS; but I feel like the stake tend to be much higher in the original. Like, in LS I feel like there is rarely a call that goes bad; and if it is then a big deal is made. There are so many miraculous successes. It makes it feel like the team is just super protected from everything. The one that made me roll my eyes the most though was in LS, 2x13 (i think), where Tommy ends up a hostage in the ICU with a father who is convinced that his son is going to wake up after being in a coma for 2 weeks. And the whole episode is focused on grief and letting go; BUT THEN THE SON WAKES UP. and I feel like it just, ruins an otherwise good episode. Like, I get it, it’s supposed to be sad because this family got their miracle but Tommy didn’t. But i feel like it would have been so much better if he didn’t. 

Also! Like how during the Tsunami arc; Maddie heard people die. There was a whole thing where dead bodies were around. It felt like a real natural disaster Now if you compare that to like the dust storm-there was maybe 1 body? 

It just reminds me of a tag I saw on AO3, “their first responders, not superheroes” and!! I feel like LS forgets this.

i think what makes the richmond scene from the book so great imo and why i prefer it to marguerite telling the pimpernel is that it's marguerite coming to percy directly to try and rebuild some of the trust they once had between them. because the estrangement didn't start just because margot had been involved in sending st. cyr and his family to their deaths, it started because she didn't trust percy with the whole truth. she's literally withheld it from him for a whole year by the time the events of the novel roll around. obviously she tells him in part due to her guilty conscience, but also going to percy directly makes the realization that he's the pimpernel ten times more impactful; right as they're starting to make things right in their relationship again, she realizes she's inadvertently sent chauvelin on her husband's trail, and that confliction is what makes her seek out sir andrew and follow percy to france.

im going to fucking scream. last monday, february 6, i met with my history professor to discuss ‘concerns of academic integrity,’ and the meeting consisted of him screensharing and showing him taking my passage from the first discussion post and putting it into something called ‘chatgpt’ and having the first line get flagged as suspicious. basically he accused me of using ai to cheat on an assignment. if u know me, especially on this platform, then u know that not only do i take writing very seriously, but i also take pride in knowing that i’m good at it and can produce something good. ive already spelled it out, my ao3 link is in my fucking bio. i am a hot blooded writer with words swarming my brain every hour i’m awake and then into my dreams. that’s all i’ve known for sure about myself since i realized i had stories i wanted to write before i knew how to read, and had my parents telling me to draw them out instead. it was hard for me to hold back tears as i scrambled to explain to my professor that i never have and never will use ai to write for me, actively condemn the use of it, and have a portfolio of other writing samples he could look through if he didn’t believe me. he told me he would have to keep in mind that the writing level he gets from me might be better than he’s expecting, and while that sounds flattering, all i can think about is having to fucking deal with this shit again in the future. what the actual fuck. ive been so mad that i havent done any work for the course since out of some dumb self destructive sense of spite, and have considered withdrawing, but i dont want him to think that makes me guilty. i know he has probably received training in the recent months about the rising use of ai tech and the threat it poses to academic integrity, so he’s probably on high alert. and the university i attend has fairly easy gpa/test requirements to get accepted. but something about the way he approached me rubbed me the wrong way, and i feel this creeping, spiraling sense of dread and hopelessness that scenarios like this will continue and will only get worse for more people like me. what the fuck am i supposed to do about this. help

I decided to do an observation & analysis of the currently famous anime Spring 2022 SPY × FAMILY. After my previous-of-previous-of-whatever-previous post, I continued watching the episodes started thinking about how to analyse the episodes and see any spoilers or whateverso. I also rewatched episodes that helps me analyse them, as well as characters and ships: Damian x Anya, Yor x Loid.
