Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.
For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.
And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.
I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt raph#rottmnt leo#rise Raph#rise leo#I really do love this bit of character writing a ton#again it’s so small but like this is consistent!#little Raph just wanted to have fun with his bros 😭#Leo immediately coming in with the save both times (and more - remember Bug Busters?)#I really love too how none of them pointed fingers like#it was Understood that Leo would speak for them#listen there’s a reason Leo is the Face Man and it’s NOT just because he’s got a pretty face#he can talk both himself and his fam out of situations and I wish we saw it even more because it’s amazing to witness#circling back to Raph his bold nature is something I ADORE about him but I don’t see it brought up a lot which makes me so sad#like this boy is a RAPHAEL he is bold!!#and it’s cute too how the other bros immediately go along with it too#imo the Raph in these tot flashback is the same Raph that glues them all together as a bonding exercise#side note but damn…Leo saves them from punishment in the tot short and immediately gets jumped 😔#but yeah man I think a Lot about the little dynamics between the bros and how those dynamics could have first came into being#Leo being the face of the team and having been it since childhood-#-makes all the moments of immediately choosing to sacrifice himself when HE royally messes up all the more notable#if it’s one bro or the whole group individually he’s more chill about it but often still lets himself be the talker to get them out of it#he will do his damndest to get his brothers and himself out of trouble but once they’re in it he’s in the front with a smile#his own safety be damned#Raph is actually the same in that respect - he’ll jump into danger fists first but all bets are off when a brother is in danger#and like how Leo’s been the face - as the eldest Raph has been the de facto leader of sorts#he’s the one who is shown to make up their games! and I think that’s very cute#anyway their clashing in the movie is so interesting for a lot of reasons but one of them is that it shows how-#-even a longstanding dynamic like Raph and Leo’s that’s WORKED for so long is still susceptible to flaws…and to time

Tumblr media
She always had those unexpected reactions, her tone or expression often clashing with her words (you saw her smile the widest at “Fuck that bitch and her fancy new whatever, can I suck you off?”), but when she said you looked tense and she’d help you loosen up, you didn’t expect that.
Jiwoo was just your roommate, not exactly the “just your roommate” that asks to copy your homework and not to make noise after 10, more like the “just your roommate” that you have unprompted makeout sessions with during movie night, or right before going to class, or anytime she felt like it, really. It wasn’t uncommon that while making out she would casually offer you a blowjob, what was uncommon is that you’d decline.
One time you were feeling up her boobs and asked to repay the favor, and she asked you if you were sure, said that she’d understand if you never wanted to kiss her, or even talk to her again, then lowered her pants and underwear and showed you her 6.5-inch monster. You simply pecked her and got on your knees. It was your first time, but you did “great, baby boy”.
Since then the two of you started masturbating in front of each other, Jiwoo even using her black dildo on special occasions (you never knew whether to look at her veiny cock or her pretty puppy face, simultaneously focused and completely lost in pleasure) and jerking each other off slowly while kissing. Some of her cum accidentally hit your closed eyelid once, she said she was so sorry, you just picked it up with your finger and licked it off, satisfied. She smiled and cleaned your dick with her tongue.
One day Jiwoo came home looking distracted. She was worried about her driving test (“I’ll get my license when I need one”; she ended up needing one to get from afternoon classes to evening shifts at the coffee shop she worked at, the subway couldn’t get her there in time) and about finals getting closer, she said; you knew there was something else. You made her hot pot that night, then you watched Ratatouille together. She loves Ratatouille. You asked if she was tired, if there was something else she wanted to do. Twenty minutes later you were laying on the couch on top of her, naked.
“I’m putting it in, okay?”
She came three times that night. Before you both fell asleep while spooning on the couch, nothing but a blanket covering your bodies (it was well into May, so it wasn’t that cold), you whispered in her ear:
“I think you’ll do great on your date”
She turned her head. “H- How did you know?”
“I didn’t”
She opened her mouth like she was trying to say something, then probably realized there was no need to. You hugged her tighter.
The date went pretty well. It was a girl she met at the coffee shop, she was a pre-med student who drank lots of coffee and read a little too much Nietzsche for someone her age. Jiwoo said she was just “interested in the human mind”, which is certainly one way of looking at it. Things ended up not working out, but Jiwoo took it surprisingly well. As for you, you’re all for your roommate making her own choices and more than happy to just support her, but you can’t say you were particularly sad about it.
Maybe it’s for the same reason that tonight, you let her have it. You let her play with you, follow her lead, and then, who knows.
What matters is that right now, Jiwoo just jumps onto the couch and starts simply kissing your neck, ridding you of your shirt to access your collarbones, lightly squeezing your cock through your pants in the meantime. You feel up her boobs through her beige t-shirt before she quickly takes it off with your help along with your jeans and her gray waist-high pants, taking no more than twenty seconds. You’re used to her being a little impatient from time to time. She keeps making out with you as she gropes your butt with both hands, humping you increasingly stronger as both of you become erect.
She only stops to get rid of the remaining underwear on both of your bodies, smiling like she has something in mind. Then she extends her index finger in front of your face.
“Wait one second”
You’re not surprised when she comes back from her room with a bottle of lube in her hand. You are surprised when, in the same tone she reminds you to water the plants, gently, but delivering the feeling that it’s something she cares about, ‘cause “without them, it wouldn’t feel like home!”, she tells you:
“Get on all fours”
“Noona?” She’s two years older than you.
“I know it’s scary, okay? I was scared too, but I promise, I promise it’ll feel good. And if it hurts even a little, we stop immediately, I kiss you boo-boo and we watch The Incredibles while eating ice cream” You love The Incredibles, and you love ice cream, but the thought of Jiwoo’s girth splitting your anus open was still pretty fucking scary.
“How about if we skip the kissy boo-boo part?”
It wasn’t what she said, it was her big sister smile, the smile of someone who cares, the smile of someone who, if need be, would protect you from your greatest stan, turned evil after you rejected him, who now wants to pretend-destroy your city and then pretend-save it to look like a hero, or from, a washed restaurant owner, that wants to kill your rat friend, who indirectly cooks rejuvenating dishes, secretly controlling your movements by pulling your hair, I guess?
Anyway, you get on all fours and she softly pats your butt and lower back before squirting some lube on her hands and spreading it thoroughly on her shaft. Then she puts her index and middle fingers on your asshole and starts gently massaging around it.
“Hey, it might be a little cold, okay?”
It is a little cold. But the first phalanx of the first finger feels unexpectedly okay. She slowly goes in deeper and deeper, observing your facial expressions, because seeing you three quarters from the back is enough for her, and listening for any signs of discomfort. She only hears soft mewls, so she places the second finger on your rim and waits. You gradually get used to the feeling and relax more and more, until Jiwoo can push the second digit in, this time even slower than the first. You struggle a little more with this one.
“Shhh, you’re doing so good for me, baby boy” she whispers while kissing your nape. Her reassuring words help you relax a little more, until she can get most of her slender finger in.
“I’m gonna start moving. You just tell me if it hurts, yeah?” Then she begins rotating her fingers inside you, covering your insides with lube. Now that you’ve adjusted to the temperature, it feels surprisingly quite nice. As soon as she deems you appropriately lubed up, she slowly takes her fingers out as you groan. When she’s done, you feel strangely hollow.
“Good boy, my good boy, you did so well” she showers you with compliments while repeatedly kissing you on the cheek. You half-smile back.
“Wanna stop?” You just shake your head.
She takes position behind you on the couch and aligns her rod with you, placing her tip on your asshole. She starts lightly pushing in as you moan out loud, her girth much wider than her fingers. You look back at her and nod to go in, and so she does. You growl as she gradually makes her way into your hole, one of her hands now on your shoulder, the other on your hip.
As you look over your shoulder, asking yourself when she’s finally going to bottom out, she smiles, almost surprised herself.
“A- I’m in”
You take a couple minutes to get adjusted, two minutes filled with “You did a great job, honey”’s and kisses on your shoulders, neck, and lips.
Then she slowly pulls back out, until only her tip is in you. You feel that strange hollowness again.
“Just go in, what are you waiting for?” You look behind, questioningly.
“Haha~ I knew you would like this” (Touché.)
You can’t say the same, but when she begins thrusting back and forth at a glacial pace, making sure to hit every corner of your hole, any thought of suppressing your moans and “Yes, noona”’s to try to keep a semblance of pride has gone completely out of the window and you’re now in the palm of Jiwoo’s hand. So as she accelerates her rhythm, she simply goes:
“There, there” and moves her right hand to your still erect cock to jerk you off. The built up stimulation from her fingers, to her dick, to now her hand caressing your length makes you explode after only a couple strokes, and many long stripes of white messily paint the couch. Your orgasm lasts what feels like an eternity and you keep growling out loud for more than a few seconds as Jiwoo wraps her hands around you, trying her best to support your limp body.
“You okay?” You still need to take a few deep breaths before you’re able to answer.
“Fuck, that was intense” you’re talking into a pillow, no strength left to even turn to face her.
“You wanna feel something more intense?”
“What? I just came, I’m spent, I have nothing left in me!”
“I’ll do all the work, I won’t even touch your dick! Plus, I still haven’t cum…” She pouts slightly. Fuck, this girl knows you.
“‘Kay, what do I do?”
“Just lay with your back on the couch and your legs open. Get comfortable, I need you to relax~” she says almost melodically, caressing from the top of your head, to your temples, down to your cheeks.
When she sees your eyes close in relaxation, she aligns herself with your hole for a second time and pushes in, this time much more easily. She bottoms out in just a few seconds and in this position, it feels she’s reaching much deeper into you. She notices when you tightly grip a pillow in each hand and groan below her, still not able to express your pleasure through proper words, so she wrings them out of you.
“You like, huh?”
“Yeah. Yeah, noona. Please keep going”
“At your service, baby boy”
She immediately gets into a faster rhythm this time, knowing she won’t last long either. As she pistons in and out of your hole, you feel your guts being rearranged, spikes of pleasure reinvigorating you with energy. Energy that needs to flow out one way or another, and it does through your hands gripping Jiwoo’s asscheeks, guiding, no, throwing her pelvis into you and back out, and through your abs flexing to help your mouth reach up to the lips of the girl above you.
The two of you are now symmetrically slamming your respective hips into each other’s and moaning in each other’s mouths, only partially silencing the sounds of pure, raw sex leaving your apartment. And symmetrically the two of you reach your peaks.
You start spurting the last few drops of cum you have in your body just as she pulls out and jerks herself onto you, two sources of white nectar coming together on your abs, chest, even chin and neck as you and Jiwoo are still French kissing, and keep doing so for a good minute after coming down from your highs, her body now resting on yours.
You wrap one hand around her back and caress her hair with the other while kissing the side of her head.
“Haha~ I take it you liked it”
“Some parts of my body definitely loosened up”
The joke isn’t funny, but she chuckles anyway.
“Thank you, noona”
-
footnotes.
hope you liked it! i wasn’t super happy about some parts, but that’s okay(?). i’m kinda worried i’ll write the same characters over and over again, just changing the names. hopefully it’s just that two different idols in a row gave me the same vibes. we’ll see. may you have a blessed day, dear reader. mmwah. kindly, leaf.

Just read all your shit with Haymitch in it and
A) I’m obsessed with it omfg no one writes for Haymitch AND THAT FACT THAT ITS SO WONDERFUL AND WELL WRITTEN?!?! god it has my heart
B) Y/N going on her fucking Tablets after their first time is so funny for some reason to me, like Haymitch is drowning in his sorrow and she’s just being a lil ipad baby. Like she’s the kind of chick that when their finished to roll over and play clash of clans💀
C) Y/N is sooo mirrorball coded. “I'll show you every version of yourself tonight” the way she forces Haymitch to constantly self reflect that makes him realize how much he admires her selflessness. The chorus is them trying to keep their love something secret and just there’s. AND DO I EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN THE BRIDGE OMG
D) Not to be a sadist but god I love Haymitch’s internal conflict about feeling so guilty for everything. Also correct me if I’m wrong but him being her highest bidder so she wouldn’t get sold to some creep…my heart💔
anyways the new movie has me back in my hunger games faze and yours fics are all I think about.
I’m not kidding I was zoning out thinking about Lavender Haze today and didn’t slowdown while turning and thank god there was no traffic or else I would have caused a fucking collision
Screaming thank you! Haymitch deserves all the fics, his character has always been so interesting to me.
Y/N is an iPad kid, she’s definitely the type to be like “look, Haymitch.” Whenever she reaches a new level on her games. But the way she whips open her notes app whenever something is wrong it’s like girl, what if Snow hacks the iPad 😂 But on a more serious note, she respects the tablet and understands that it can retain a lot more information than she can especially when it comes to helping her tributes.
Mirrorball is an EXCELLENT representation of Y/N and their relationship.
Haymitch obviously feels so bad that he has to marry Y/N to keep her safe from being sold and then ultimately has to participate in her “working” for the Capitol anyway. He wanted to completely save her but all he can really do is soften the blow.
You’re so real for that, I’m glad you didn’t crash

I’m Gonna Go Off About How Good Avatar: Way of The Water Was
Because apparently nobody else wants to and that is patently LAME.
SPOILERS AHEAD
I want to be so REAL with y’all, that movie BROKE me. Not just in a mindless entertainment way like soooooo many people believe the Avatar franchise is. It had some serious food for thought in it, hamfisted environmentalist allegories be damned because you know what maybe we SHOULD have more hamfisted environmentalist movies if the message ain’t getting through otherwise.
I think it’s so weird that some people seem to believe Way of The Water is just the first one over again but in the ocean. When really it’s just that Quadritch is alive for sci-fi reasons and it’s humans being terrible to an environment that doesn’t belong to them. So you know, normal stuff like ✨characters and themes✨
So many new elements got introduced to the story. The consequences of Jake’s actions from the first film having more ripples and settling with that guilt and the Na’vi themselves having diverse reactions to Jake and his family in a way that makes a lot of sense.
The Tulkan, yet another highly intelligent species on Pandora beyond the humanoid Na’vi and the complex consciousness of Eywa. The fact that the na’vi can communicate with them through sign language and that even tho they’re extremely intelligent humans with slaughter them for a tiny highly valuable fraction of their body? Hmmm 🤔 sounds familiar.
Neytiri’s hatred of humans in general strokes clashing with her love of Jake and her resentment for Quadritch’s son Spider.
OH MAN AND THE KIDS ARE SO INTERESTING TOO
Spider being the son of toxic military macho man and yet feeling as tho he belongs to the na’vi, human physically but not in his soul. Being forced to translate for his dad to try and protect as many na’vi as he can as him and his military avatar goons try and smoke Jake out. Knowing Neytiri will never accept him. That’s a FASCINATING character right there.
Lo’ak bonding with an ostracized Tulkan, having a complicated relationship with his dad (Jake) because they’re pretty much TOO much alike. The fact that he doesn’t let his dad let himself drown near the end by showing every ounce of wisdom he’s learned from the Metkayina. “I see you” INDEED. That shit b r o k e me!
And KIRI oh my gawd gurl what is UP with you??? I think the more we learn about this girl the more we’re going to learn about Eywa. My theory is because Grace was the first and probably only human to not only figure out at least a fraction of what Eywa essentially is on a scientific level but also died on the world and might’ve basically become part of Eywa and maybe even given her/it the means to interface with the na’vi (like KIRI especially) on a verbal/more direct level. Which potentially could make Kiri the bridge between Humans, Na’vi and Eywa. THAT IS SO COOL.
That’s not even getting into how cool all the new Metkayina characters are (with some serious potential) Ronal, Tonowari, Aonung and Tsireya. Ronal is just pure badassery (going to war while pregnant?! Holy shit girl!). I sense an intriguing friendship forming between Tonowari and Jake “Your son is buried with our ancestors, you are Metkayina now”. The beginnings of a possible friendship between Lo’ak and Aonung and the almost definite romantic arc they’re prob gonna do with Lo’ak & Tsireya.
All the relationships and interpersonal character drama in this franchise is intriguing to me. Even if the theme part is a little redundant, you can’t deny the new characters are gonna make things REALLY interesting provided the writing stays as good as it’s been.
Also I eat Pandora Na’vi clan lore for breakfast, I hope we get introduced to even more clans than the Omaticaya and Metkayina in the future.
Was it maybe a little longer than necessary? Maybe. Was quaritch’s resurrection a little slapdash? Yeah a little but not enough to make his evolution as a character boring imo.
Anyway I’m sick of people who act like stuff is bad just cuz it’s popular and doesn’t have a steady fandom. Do you know what did well critically that had environmental themes and barely had a fandom too? Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance I don’t think it’s any less cool or promising for it. Yes I’m a little bitter that people aren’t talking about this movie why??
P.S. If you like this franchise check out Tsu’tey’s Path from Dark Horse comics. Gives a bunch of deleted scenes lore more context and fleshes out one of the most interesting na’vi characters from the first film.

Yeah so your dynamic shipping game? I know I say Takeru and Hikari a lot because I always want to know others perception of them.
Another one I am very curious about is Koushirou and Mimi. Because Tri just worked for them.
But if you mean non common ships I have been curious about Yamato and Mimi. I get the whole they look good together vibe especially in illustrations, but personality wise they don’t really mesh up well in my opinion. Maybe you’ll find something good out of it?
Anyways thank you for reading this. Even if you do one review I would appreciate it. Thank you!
Hello there! Thank you for sending me this, I still have all the other rarepairs in my queue and want to work on them, since I always enjoy to have some thought experiments here and there.
Since my stance on Takari hasn't really changed ever since writing my first analysis post, I hope it's okay if I'm not gonna repeat this one.
However, the other two (namely Koumi and Mimato) are definitely more interesting to write about, for very different reasons each:
Digimon Shipping Dynamic Game:
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
Since I've already written a huge tumblr breaking analysis on what does and does not work about them, you can bet that canon provides a whole lot of input about them. I will try to keep this section as brief as possible regardless:
You have their initial set-up, which appears to be your typical "opposites/beauty and the nerd" tropes at first glance - and while they do fulfill their stereotypes to at least some degree at various parts of the series, they also frequently defy them. They're the same age and also classmates, making them one of the few characters who have known each other (very superficially) even before the events of Adventure - and they start off rather roughly. While both of them are portrayed as oddballs in their own ways (enjoying questionable food combinations, being very focused on the things they're interested in, etc.), they have very different priority systems. Basically, whenever these two are the focus in an episode (namely the infamous episode 10 of Adventure), a scene (namely their interactions in "Diablomon Strikes Back) or a plot-point (namely their interactions throughout the first four Tri movies), it's usually about them having to come to terms with their different approach systems:
Koushirou is the rational type, who focuses on solving a problem by going through the entire PDCA cycle, trying to figure out each and every puzzle piece and gather all information to come to a conclusion. Mimi's judgement is based more on emotions, feelings and instinct, she likes to skip the first three steps of the PDCA cycle and does what she thinks is best for everyone - and that's where these two tend to clash. While Koushirou absolutely can be a hands-on person who jumps into action when necessary, he has a hard time understanding Mimi's reasoning sometimes, especially when she demands him to take her/other people's feelings into account. They do have very different energy levels in that regard - which, on the other hand, is also what makes their DSB interactions so entertaining to watch, as she is just very happy to be back in Japan, wanting his attention (extroverted dominance), while he's absolutely done trying to save the world once again (introverted exhaustion).
While their fights can turn out to be rather exhausting whenever they're not able to communicate well and also whenever they cannot admit that the other may have had a point (especially in Tri), they do work best once they actually reconcile and combine their strengths; whether it's when he is leaving his laptop behind (once) to tear down a wall to save her, admitting that acting is better than thinking sometimes (episode 10), when she praises his skills and achievements up to the point of them even working on her online shop together (Tri + Kizuna/To Sora), or when he leaves his laptop at home once again after being told to do so by her, just to come to the conclusion that this helped him to actually think about what he wants to do in the future (Stageplay).
There is a reason why they're among the most popular ships in the Digimon fandom world-wide due to their interesting dynamics (see here and here). So much so that there was even an audio drama explicitly functioning as fanservice, making Koushirou write a love letter to someone and having Mimi be rather infuriated by the idea that it was for Hikari instead of herself. While instances like this (and DSB) formed the preferred fandom headcanon of Mimi having a crush on Koushirou, Tri canonized him having developed a crush on her instead - even though said crush was rather treated in a comic relief manner without serving a development trigger in either of their arcs, as the main focus had been, once again, them having very different view-points instead.
Long story short - there is A LOT to work with. Even though I have to say that, in my opinion, Tri did not really work for them. The recycled conflict between them (rational vs. emotional) could have been great if it had been intertwined in their respective arcs (self-isolation vs. selfishness), but was NEVER properly resolved. The crush never led to anything but fanservice (while also reducing Koushirou's character to that in a "they had to dumb him down so he couldn't figure out the plot immediately" way). I actually prefer their portrayal in the stageplay (as well as in Kizuna/To Sora), which is why I chose the screenshot above - but let me elaborate on that...
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
The "opposites attract trope", if done right, can be a very appealing one - and, as mentioned, it explains why these two are as popular as a romantic ship as they are. As mentioned above, I do prefer their portrayal in the stageplay as opposed to Tri; while their personalities were still very much on opposing ends, there was a lot more familiarity and closeness between them, which could have been the natural development after they had started to come to terms with their "differences" after episode 10 of Adventure, throughout 02 and up to this point. Mimi scolding Koushirou for relying on his laptop too much is met with him seeming rather helpless, exhausted by her attitude at first - however, instead of just acting obediently and leaving his laptop at home to please her, he uses that twice: Once by teasing her, pretending to have withdrawal symptoms and scaring her in the process, ACTUALLY joking around intentionally and playfully for once! Secondly, he actually talks about his own dreams, feeling inspired by her and indirectly thanking her for that (the crush does not seem to exist at this point btw). And that is a mutual point for them, as Mimi also confesses to Sora that, while she's currently not crushing on anyone, she also feels inspired by Koushirou to maybe do "something with computers" in the future (which, as we know, will actually happen by the time of Kizuna).
And that is what, as mentioned above, could be their greatest strength as a romantic couple. They're AWARE of their different energy levels and, after all these years, they've started to gain an understanding of the other's needs in terms of emotional and mental affection. At least they SHOULD BE. Instead, Tri implied that Koushirou suddenly started to get interested in fashion JUST for the sake of impressing Mimi - which is not what his character is about at all and misunderstood his entire arc of accepting himself the way he is. Having him bend over backwards to impress the person he fell in love with, hiding behind an app to tell him how to dress, would always result in him never opening up - sure, he's been able to stand his ground against her, but that only resulted in them shouting at each other in Tri, unable to really understand each other. And Tri COULD have used that to make Mimi comment on how it didn't matter what he wore as long as he felt comfortable with it. Because - again, they're both weird in their own ways and wouldn't be themselves if they changed for the sake of someone else. But that conclusion was never reached.
In an ideal world, I feel like they could just have naturally progressed from 02 to the Stageplay to Kizuna/To Sora; with Koushirou becoming more aware and considerate towards Mimi needing attention and affection and Mimi learning that there are times when Koushirou needs to be left to solve his riddles, with words of encouragement in between. The Kizuna promo art of her looking absolutely amazed at whatever he had managed to make out of her online shop while he beams at her with fondness and pride is how I could see them working out just fine. Sure, there would be moments of them clashing again - but they'd be able to deal with that without him turning into an obedient puppy or her turning into an enraged harpy. There can be a sense of protectiveness and gentleness between them, learning from and complementing each other without actively trying to CHANGE the other, enjoying each other's company as well as spending time apart, as long as they have something to gush over together (whether that's online shops, food, their friends - or, like in the reboot, the actual fact that Mimi's grandfather is the manufacturer of Koushirou's tablet. The potential of them actually having business-related rambles is just too good to pass on).
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
Alright, enough rambles - throughout all this time spent analyzing their romantic potential, I have actually grown more fond of them as a couple. Despite that, I still prefer them as platonic business friends, since I primarily ship each of them with other characters. Still, I love the idea of them growing more and more close and familiar through the years (which is basically canon at this point anyway), teasing and praising each other, making jokes, gossiping over their friends, etc. (Though I would actually like to see them in an OT3 with Taichi - because in my opinion, both Mimi and Taichi care deeply about Koushirou and he'd be such a wonderful bisexual disaster around them. Plus, I thoroughly despise certain fandom depictions of Michi cheating on Koushirou with each other, because that couldn't be further from their actual personalities.)
ALRIGHT, NEXT.
Depending on what you want to look at: There isn't much. While you referred to them as "non common ship", I do believe there is quite a fanbase for them out there. However, I'm inclined to agree that it is mainly based on two factors: Both of them being highly attractive characters and the potential they could have due to their personalities (and the tropes they represent).
Throughout Adventure 01 and 02, I actually cannot remember any significant interactions these two had with each other; Yamato starts off having a hard time approaching the others, he's not exactly closed off or aloof, but is mainly focused on taking care of Takeru. Him ACTIVELY bonding with others happens very rarely, so when he's not contemplating things (sometimes together with Jyou), or argues or fights with and alongside Taichi, he doesn't really have any capacities to interact with Mimi - who, in turn, is more likely to play around with Takeru or spend time with Sora or Jyou. At first glance, Yamato is the classic introvert to Mimi being an extrovert, which is not only displayed by their colour palettes being VERY different (warm shades of red and pink vs. cold shades of green and blue), but also by their energy levels. While they're both very outspoken and opinionated - they never talk to each other in either 01 and 02. In the novel, there are even several instances of their energy levels and approaches being that different that they actually clash with each other, actively fighting.
Thus, figuring out their dynamics is rather difficult - there are just minor instances (and characteristics) that COULD make them rather interesting; one of the most famous moments in 01 is the way Yamato tells Taichi off, demanding him to give them - and Mimi in particular - time and space to mourn the loss of the Digimon that have already died, implying that he's sympathizing with her. Yamato has definitely experienced loss in his life already after the divorce of his parents and still struggles with feeling inadequate as a brother to Takeru - while Mimi comes from one of the happiest, most peaceful families in the series. Her purity, her sense of wanting to achieve peace without sacrifices almost appears as a stark contrast to Yamato's "corruption" later on; when he demands Taichi to fight him, trying to solve things in a rather violent way, it's almost a shame that someone like Mimi is not able to stop him there and then (since deep down inside, he doesn't want to fight either). And that's where I assume fandom likes to step in using their personalities to form headcanons:
Mimi being a positive influence, a genuine force of sincerity to (literally) pull Yamato out of his (more negative) tendencies, helping him to be more honest with himself as well - almost in an actual "Beauty and the Beast" kind of way. Neither Tri or Kizuna really elaborated on their dynamics - but the former did like to imply that they are indeed opposing forces, twice; the situation depicted above shows the group coming together after Mimi had another fight with Koushirou. Meiko feels like a burden, since she was the reason Mimi and Koushirou clashed in the first place, as he tried to interrogate her in a moment of emotional vulnerability, while Mimi called him out for being insensitive. Yamato voices his concern towards Meiko, telling her to stop worrying them - and both Taichi and Sora step in, saying that Yamato was just genuinely worried about her, to which Mimi tries to call him a "Tsundere". He just deflects by telling her that she cannot speak proper Japanese and that she's just making things more complicated (because she refuses to take a step towards Koushirou at this point). The other instance is within the stageplay - where Yamato tells Mimi to stay away from his cooking, fearing that her extravagant tastes (bananas and fish) may ruin the dish...
Long story short - they don't appear to be very compatible as friends canonically. So, again, that's where headcanons have to step in.
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
As mentioned above, due to their contrasting set-ups, family backgrounds and way of attraction, there is an appeal that may make them quite popular in singular online spaces. Mimi is a natural people-magnet due to her openness and tendency to become the center of attention very quickly, she easily befriends everyone around her (even if some may find her controversial, as depicted in Tri) and tries to spread a positive spirit. Whereas Yamato, despite being a band leader (that is also very popular), is indeed more closed-off, with a very selective group of friends he is very committed to and protective of (maybe even possessive to some degree, as you can imagine he is not good at dealing with losses). From an outside view, they almost have that "idol-like vibe" that makes them very attractive - so it's no surprise fandom sees them as an intriguing and compelling combination to end up together. Due to them being as opinionated as they are, they may clash a lot - but similarly to Koumi, that COULD be also a strength, as it is important for characters like Yamato to ACTUALLY speak their mind without hiding behind a mask. Plus, Yamato needs someone he can truly be vulnerable around with, because he's a lot softer (and awkward) than his facade would make you believe at first glance. The question is - would he be able to let loose around Mimi like that? It's very hard to tell, because unlike with Koumi, we don't really know if she understands how he rolls. Sure, she can see that he has VERY Tsundere-like tendencies, tough shell, soft and caring on the inside - but up to this point, they're not close (or even comfortable) enough for him to not deny that rather aggressively (especially because Taichi and Sora were actually a lot quicker to pick that up - which is no surprise either, because they're canonically closer to him). So it feels more like they'd be prone to fight for dominance than being able to take a step towards each other (even more strongly than Koumi, because Mimato may take disagreement as a personal attack and can't even seem to bond over their passion for cooking together at this point in time).
Mimi, on the other hand, also needs someone who can keep up with her - people like Jyou and Koushirou, as we've seen, should be used to her habits already, but it is very difficult to tell whether Yamato would have the energy and patience to deal with her, giving her the assurance and attention she needs.
Long story short, the potential is there due to their personalities, but we never learn if and how they'd be able to interact on a closer level.
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
Admittedly, they're a relationship I have pretty much no attachment to, simply due to the fact that canon never gave me a reason to believe that they'd think of each other as "close friends", let alone "romantic partners". As they're both Chosen Children, they would surely protect and fight for each other, no question - but everything beyond that never gave me positive vibes. Which is actually a shame, because they're both (potentially) good with Jyou and Takeru, Team Hope exists for a reason after all (and I even ship both Mimi and Yamato with Jyou, yet I couldn't imagine them being an actual OT3). Heck, they're also both (supposedly) very close to Sora, yet they never had a group moment together. Even in the reboot, they were mainly just arguing and never had a positively reaffirming moment together. So I must say, I rather think of them as acquaintances than anything else.

I have a confession to make. I don’t go to conventions for TV shows or movie series. In fact last year’s 25th Anniversary of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ was the first ever time I went to any convention for anything ever. And I’ve never really talked about it because I was afraid that I’d be met with backlash for it. But the time has come to talk about it. Why I’ve never been before.
The reason why doesn’t actually have anything to do with not living close or working too hard or no one to go with. That’s the excuse I make. The real reason why is because the creators (writers/producers/directors) never go to them. Only the actors. And for most people, that’s all they care about. The faces and not so much the minds. I’m the opposite. I care very little for who portrays the characters I love and care very much so for who writes them. When I went to the Xena convention, I played it off like I was all excited for Lucy and Renee with all the other Xenites. But I actually wasn’t there for them at all. I mean yes, I wanted to get their autographs and photo ops. But when it came to the one-on-one or even dual stage time they both got - I had absolutely nothing to ask. Not that I would have had a chance anyway given the lines were so long for questions but that’s besides the point. Even if there wasn’t - I’d have no questions. All my questions were for the only two writers that even bothered to show up. Steven L. Sears and Katherine Fugate. I was constantly asking them questions. And I was actually able to since few others even wanted to. Especially Steven. I got to talk to him for a whole hour.
There was however one actress I spent a lot of time talking with and that’s only because she didn’t hide away. She stayed in the vending areas selling her stuff. That was Jacqueline Kim who played Lao Ma. She was only in two episodes throughout all of the show and she still shows up to conventions year after year. I did have a significant question to ask her. Funny story actually - we clashed on our views about what we believed Lao Ma represented during her segment on stage. However, it was all good because she came up to me and explained why she disagreed with me. And once I heard her point of view thoroughly, I actually changed my mind about mine and agreed with her. I even danced with her at the last day after party Penny Cavanaugh of Xenites Retreat arranged - so awesome!
Anyway, all that aside. I honestly have more interest in the views and opinions of the creators than the actors. And I always will because I care about the narrative choices and in-depth thinking behind my favourite TV shows or movies. If Rob Tapert were to attend a Xena convention along with Lucy, that would be so amazing. I’d never stop asking him questions about the show that has changed my entire life and continues to teach me so much each time I watch it.
I just… all I really care about in interacting with art/entertainment is the learning process. The education. For me - it’s the behind-the-scenes crew that are the fundamental reason why a show is what it is to me. It’s never the cast. I love them. I do. I love that they portrayed my favourite characters of all time and I am extremely grateful for all their time and effort in doing so. But it’s the writers/producers/directors I want to talk with. Have in-depth conversations with. Because I know that they’ll be the ones to give me the answers.
With Xena - it’s a group effort. Lucy and Renee have always said that that everyone that worked on the set were the puzzle pieces to the whole picture we got. And I agree with them immensely. However, I know who it is specifically that I’d rather talk to about it. And for me - that was my favourite thing about con. The fact I got to meet and talk with the writer that I credit the entirety of Gabrielle’s representation and development to for a whole god damn hour! Because I know that it’s because of Steven why I am so invested in ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ to this day and always will be.
My experience with him meant more to me than everything else that happened at con combined and I hope that he knows how much I appreciate his presence in everything and anything to do with Xena.

what are your thoughts on mahito?
...oh boy.
i'm sorry, but i love him. it took me about a year and a half to reach this conclusion -- i once hated his guts too, and i don't at all blame anyone who loathes him. y'all are totally valid. he's so, so hateable.
defending myself below cut. i have good reasons, i promise.
so why did i change my mind? okay. he's just so interesting. he's one of the most well-written villains i've ever encountered in media. it's hard to write an "evil just for fun" villain and make them compelling, but with mahito, gege absolutely succeeded. there are layers to it, in a way i've never seen written before.
he truly united almost the entire fandom against him. he fucked up so much in the story: junpei, mechamaru, nanami, nobara. his impact was insane. even beyond named characters, no body count even scratches his. towards the end, he was so brokenly powerful. i don't think kenjaku could've hoped to take him in if he weren't basically on the brink of death. even his final words are lashing out at his own ally, saying he always knew the end. yet he still did everything anyway.
honestly, as always, i'll keep most of my negative opinions to myself, but i really think every other jjk villain since shibuya looks like a joke next to him. he's my favorite jjk villain by so much it's almost funny. even sukuna and kenjaku don't reach his level for me.
sure, their impact on the story has obviously been pivotal. i've definitely had some strong emotional reactions to things they've done, but i want to see more emotions from them. what have we seen from sukuna? pretty much just rage, annoyance, and cruelty? uh, okay. and kenjaku has never shown anything more than vaguely amused indifference. he just can't incite an emotional reaction from me with that. what are their motives? what are their ideals?
yeah, i'm sure i'm missing a lot of themes or whatever with them, but i really don't flip over sukuna (hopefully that'll change...) and i never want to think about kenjaku more than i absolutely have to.
in contrast, mahito's emotions are so human, so complex. he has the widest range of emotion of any jjk villain. mahito's ideals are concise and an incredible foil for yuuji's. take this speech of his in shibuya:
"I bet you thought you were gonna do some pest control! Or ghost exterminations like in some make-believe story! You came to Shibuya with half-assed determination didn‘t ya?! How naive, you stupid brat! This is war! Not a battle to fix what‘s wrong! But a clash of truths! You and your fragile justice! You are me, Yuuji Itadori! I kill without a second thought, just like you save people without a second thought! The instincts of a curse against the so-called dignity obtained by human reason! It‘s a battle to determine who will be left standing in a hundred years! How the hell did you think you were gonna beat me when you don‘t even realize that? Tell me, Yuuji Itadori, have you ever stopped to count how many curses you‘ve killed? No, right? Me neither, me neither!"
this is insane. are you kidding me? are you kidding me. this is so fucking metal. he studies humans because they fascinate him: he reads books, watches movies, familiarizes himself with folklore and religions. yet despite that, he still sees humans as having no worth. their lives mean nothing to him. but his fixation on yuuji, his cognizance of their nature as character foils, proves how much grasp he has on human emotional depth.
i wish there was a better word for it, but he cared about yuuji: obviously not in the traditional positive, warm, affectionate sense, but in that he viewed yuuji as important to himself, his own ideals, and his own growth. if given more time, i think his emotional range towards humans could have become even wider.
conversely, as it stands at the end, curses do have worth to him. he helps a wounded hanami back to the base. this incredible post talks about how jogo is almost a father figure to him (and it's great mahito meta, too). i wish what that meta writer talked about came true. he left the story far, far too soon. i miss him so goddamn much. there's a gaping hole in the cast now that no other character can hope to fill.
i honestly can't wait to write more of him. tpg mahito's arc is literally insane, and honestly one of my favorites in the entire story. i seriously can't wait. i'd never try to make anyone like or root for him -- he's a villain, and always will be. but i want people to feel compelled in the same way i do. i'm missing so much in this analysis; i feel like i've barely scratched the surface.
mahito. his name means true human, by the way. if you think i'm not going to explore every aspect of that, you're in for a wild ride.

ㅤ⟡﹒ 💌 ﹑5K EVENT MATCHUP FOR... @bakerysnake!﹒☆
i match you with... NAGI SEISHIRO .
💋 ◌﹒𓂋  🌹 ◌﹒𓂋 🍓 ◌﹒𓂋  👠 ◌﹒𓂋
hai snake! here's your matchup post :p thank you for the kind words you left on ur ask btws, i'm glad u like my writing ^-^
i gave you blue lock characters bc of ur isagi pfp and u said ur fav was bachira so i didn't want to stray into any other fandoms LOL but i chose nagi bc of compatibility reasons with your mbti, your zodiac, and just general interests! nagi is an intp + a taurus.
in terms of compatibility between intps and infjs, the relationship is between two fundamentally different people with two different values, but it's still a very interesting dynamic. nagi is more blunt and straightforward whereas you're more empathetic and sensitive, meaning he can show you perspectives previously unknown and vice versa. i think intps and infjs are quite interesting together- meaning that you and nagi would have a very special dynamic that might make people go 'huh, i would've never expected them to be together', but it's one that allows the two of you to understand each other. albeit, there are differences and clashes here and there, but i'm gonna move on from mbti completely!
in terms of zodiac, at the most surface level, capricorns and taurus are a compatible pair. both are earth signs meaning you have very steady and comfortable approaches to life with personalities that blend quite well together. taurus' are 'lazy' but hardworking whereas capricorns are very reliable and practical people who do dedicate time into relationships. ig the image that i see is a lot of lounging around with nagi (bc he forced you to) whilst you're reading non-fiction books and he's just playing his games LMFAO.
you're most definitely the one who needs to convince nagi to do some things, but i think you two would definitely make a comfy, cozy, and soft pairing. earth signs also love to lead a life of luxury so i'm also imagining that vibe surrounding this matchup as well!
also he'd love to participate in the story-based games too! he'd love watching you play them whilst draped all over you or around you, providing little commentary here and there, but he remains silent for the majority of it. watching him play his fighter and pvp games can also be quite fun, but lets say that the day is a little moody, rain is pattering on your windows, nagi loves setting up your game on his console and watch you. he says it's kind of like watching a movie.
the cozy/warmth aesthetic fits so well with nagi too :( he's warm and he loves being surrounded by warm things, like his oversized hoodies, probably has tons of blankets and pillow so :< he's so precious.
anyways yeah! that's all i think i'm going to get into today, i hope u like your matchup and that you found something enjoyable out of it. thank you for participating, snake!

Okay so yesterday i watched love and thunder and i think it's okay (and yes definitely way better than mom)
Spoilers btw
I think it has a tone problem tho, i like the comedy stuff there should be less jokes in this one
Gorr is amazing as a villain holy shit, the time he appears when he's already corrupted i got chills down my spine! The camera works are *chef kiss
But....
With him being the villain, back to the tone problem i think that's what made this story didn't turn well. Gorr literally wanted to eradicate ALL GODS, that's probably the highest stake in every thor movie ever had.
And gotta admit, i'm thinking a lot to moon knight's story. As in i tried to search for the connections yk but i'll talk abt this later
I feel like there should be some infinity war element kind of tone in here, it's not that in the end the gang's supposed to loose tho but make it as if they're actually going to loose
When gorr almost got to the eternity i feel a bit dissapointed cause yea i knew he'll change his mind/heart or prob not succeeded
Compare this in ragnarok tho, i feel like the stakes with hela was much bigger/higher cause ragnarok pretty much showed a lot of the damages hela has done to the gang from act 1
The screaming goats ruined the scene when the gang just arrived in shadow-realm-planet(???) sorry i forgot the name lmao, anyway i love the goats in other scenes but i hate them in here only, cause seriously it didn't match the gloomy, dark, corrupted tone of the place itself
And i miss loki being in here, i get that the loki that thor knew is gone-actually-gone but i wish there's more of him talking about his bro :(
Aight moving on to stuff that i liked about the movie :
MOON KNIGHT IN THE MARVEL INTRO. I REPEAT MOON KNIGHT IN THE MARVEL INTRO AAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! This is the actual reason i want to watch love and thunder lmao, i'm afraid if this is the first yet last time i'm able to see mk in the big screen of this year so yeah
i love the dynamic between the gang tho, and the shenanigans between thor and guardians aweee!!
the kids getting thor's power just pure awesomeness aaaaaaaa!!!!
Val and jane being such awesome sisters in here hehe, i love their energy 🥺
The battle in shadow-realm-planet. JUST LOOK AT THOSE CINEMATOGRAPHY HOLY SHIT!!!
Gorr. Yea only gorr because he's that cool as villain seriously, no other words can explain how i love his character so much
The "just look at the eyes of people that you loved" line aweee, peter's looking at the other guardians and my heart really melted
Mjolnir and stormbreaker lmaooooo, i feel like strombreaker should meet dr strange's cloak???? The chaos from these two omg
Okay now that's sorta everything now i wanna talk about the moon knight connections
When gorr said he'll kill all the gods OH SHIT I'M WORRIED FOR KHONSHU 😔😭
He's a bad as a god and just a pigeon w angry issue yeah but- BUT goddamn i'm actually worried????? Not to mention with jake now serving him so.....the moon bois are technically not safe either SHIT-
Okay maybe they are safe actually? Cause khonshu's the one that'll die
Anyway anyway
Does this makes the whole ammit & harrow trying to eradicate the bad ones POINTLESS in moon knight? Maybe???
Like imagine gorr arrives on earth while ammit vs khonsu stuff is happening, THEY'RE BIG AND WHAT'S HE GONNA DO HUH???? Then even if he's able to kill ammit (and khonshu) this only makes moon knight's journey more pointless and i hate it! A nobody (on mk's perspective) just popped out and finished what marc, steven and layla were trying to do what the hell- >:(
Luckily gorr haven't kill the enneads yet tho, but still this bothered me
Oh and yk we could've had jake joining the gang to kill this god butcher right? Like come onnn (ignore me i'm desperate for more mk lmao)
And- AND
If gorr ever meets harrow i think they would've had a very interesting convo. Harrow is a fanatic while Gorr is a non-beliver, just imagine how clashed these two would be holy shit!!!
Amd I think there's a line that said "eradicating" and all i could think about was harrow, he too was trying to eradicate something tho

THE LAST JEDI IS GOOD.
The Last Jedi is a very character focused film.
It takes 6 characters (Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Luke, and Kylo) and goes “Okay, how do we put these characters in situations that will further their arcs.” And as a result, each of these characters have interesting and well developed arcs that make sense and actually influence the story.
These arcs all feed into the film’s exploration of the concept of heroism. Rey wanted to be a hero, but Luke’s all like. “No, heroes are stupid.” Luke being this guy who was once a hero but is now a jerk challenges the idea of heroism not just in the eyes of the audience, but in the mind of Rey. It shows that not even heroes are perfect. It’s not a fun thing to see, but it wasn’t something that was just done to be subversive. It very clearly has a purpose within the film’s dissection of heroism. Rey has to confront her expectations of what heroism looks like, similar to how Luke had to confront his expectations in The Empire Strikes Back, and both of those films end with the characters learning that the world is a lot more complex than they thought while still not losing their idealism.
We’ll get back to Rey and Luke, but continuing with this heroism thing, both Finn and Rose are all like “Ah! We suck, we can’t be heroes.” Then, they learn to be heroes. I admit, the thing with Rose crashing is extraordinarily stupid, but I do feel the broad strokes of her arc work well, as she learns that she can become a hero as well as Finn. Rose’s final realization in the film is that heroism is something that comes from a community, something which she learned from her experience on that casino planet.
Finn, also, is still guilty about his actions as a stormtrooper, and this guilt is personified by Plasma, his former boss. So, him killing Plasma is symbolic of him killing that guilt (it’s not the only time the film does that).
Of course, Finn doesn’t realize this until after going to the casino planet and seeing the consequences of apathy. The reason why Finn changed sides is because he sympathized with the people he was hurting. So, Finn is shown how changing sides was a monumental decision that he should be proud of.
Moving on, there’s Poe, who really wants to be a hero, but his drive ends up doing more harm than good, with him realizing at the end that heroism is more than just being the best fighter, it’s about learning to get along with people.
Kylo’s arc isn’t really about heroism, I will admit that, but we’ll get to that later. It is about idealization, which is important to this story.
Every one of these characters is given an internal and external struggle which influences every scene they’re in. With these internal and external struggles resolving at the same point. That’s good writing!
However, by focusing on character, the film sacrifices plot. The pacing is a bit weird- with the third act being way too long. Not only that, but there are a bunch of plot holes, like BB8 suddenly being extraordinarily powerful. This did take me out of the movie quite a few times. It’s also definitely rather contrived, with the story having to bend backwards in order to get the character’s in their rightful places.
However, the fact that the movie managed to have all of these arcs in 2 hours is impressive. Should it have tried to put less on its plate? Probably. But, the fact that this film has three different plot lines, all of which combine at the end, all of which are given roughly equal time, and it still manages to make sense, is impressive. Sometimes, they tonally clash with each other, but it never feels like the plot lines are competing for your attention. It’s messy, but it could have been far more messy.
I suppose one could say that there are four plot lines when you consider Kylo. However, his whole thing is basically tied to Rey’s plotline.
Anyways, let’s talk about subversion. The movie basically only has like three subversions: Rey's parents, Luke being a jerk, and Kylo killing Snoke. There’s some other stuff, but they’re small and not very important.
I feel like all of these subversions are not just warranted, but necessary. Let’s start with Rey’s parents. I don’t think anyone has any problems with that. It deals with the idea that anyone can be a hero. It’s also a pretty refreshing take considering how a lot of people in adventure stories always have to be the child of someone important.
Also, this reveal matches what happened in Empire Strikes Back. In that movie, the twist about Vader was the worst news that Luke could, and the news in this movie is the worst news that Rey can hear. This movie sets up the idea that, like Luke, Rey will have to learn how to embrace this. It sets up a very interesting arc for Rey in the next movie as well as a very wholesome and inspiring conclusion that anyone can make a difference. Of course…the next movie…whatever. If Rey was Luke or Hans' child then…so what? That’s good news. Also, everyone’s criticism of Rey is that she’s too much of a special cookie, and her being the child of someone important would make her even more of a special cookie. Also also, isn’t it nice to tell kids that they don’t need to be descended from greatness and all that jazz to be special? This is, after all, a lesson kids should learn.
However, I see why Luke being a jerk is controversial. However ever, I feel like the plot needed that to happen. If Luke was a great guy, then it wouldn’t have pushed Rey's character forward. Also, like, where’s the conflict in that? Where’s the drama? The reason why Yoda worked was that he pushed Luke’s character forward because he challenged Luke's perception of the world. It’s the same thing with Rey. All people need to be challenged to grow. All people need to have their view of the world broken to grow.
Luke forces Rey to confront her ideas of heroism, just as Yoda forced Luke to confront his ideas of purpose and violence.
Luke being some sort of surrogate dad to Rey would be cute, but like…it would be boring. The other two plots are about shooting and explosions and battles and stuff. If we just cut back to Rey and Luke chilling and sharing good vibes then we’d just be waiting for it to be over. And sure, they could have had Luke be grumpy but still nicer to Rey. However, that’s literally what happens with Han in the Force Awakens. Slapping the audience in the face with Luke’s douchiness and patheticness stings, and that is the point. Both the audience and Rey are forced to reckon with the fact that people are complicated, and they also change, even our heroes.
Also, the whole point of Luke’s character in this movie is that he redeems himself and gets his old groove back. That last scene where he fights Kylo would not be as satisfying if he had been a cool dude this entire movie. And that scene is great! Him sacrificing himself would always have emotional impact, but this turns a tragedy into a triumph. Plus, Luke having to fight his own internal demons and heal himself before he can fight makes him even more cool and admirable. What made Luke a great character from the beginning is how human he feels, and this is Luke at his most human.
Now, one of the biggest complaints about Luke being grumpy is that it’s out of character. However, multiple things: 1. People change and 2. Luke was not just a bucket of sunshine in the originals. He was pretty angsty in the third movie. In fact, that entire movie was about him confronting his darkness. And yeah, he won, but like, that experience was probably kinda scaring. Also, like, he was literally in danger of turning to the dark side. He has darkness inside of him, because he is a well written character with flaws.
The explanation for how Luke got to be this way is not fantastic, but it is there. Also, by the way, Luke did not try to kill Kylo because he had a scary dream. People on the internet keep saying that, and I think they’re just misremembering the movie because it came like, six years ago. I mean, hey, that kind of stuff happens.
In fact, I think a lot of people on the internet seem to be victimized by time. Luke is a jerk, yes, but there are still moments of compassion between him and Rey. The meanest he gets is when Rey disobeys specific rules he gave her. Basically,  what I’m saying is that just because someone was bright and happy as a child doesn’t mean that they will continue to be bright and happy for the rest of their life. Could they have done more with the explanation? Yeah. But, I mean, Luke has always been a dude who is all over the place. He’s constantly having responsibility he neither wants nor asks for placed on him, is constantly being forced into moral dilemmas, constantly screwing up. There is definitely a nuance to his character in this movie that everyone has kind of forgotten with time. It’s much easier to remember “Luke bad” then all the moments when he’s nice.
I think that Luke and Rey both teaching each other something is much more meaningful than Luke just being this nice guy. Both of them are people grappling with their own darkness who have to confront their ideas about the world. However, they come at their own darkness from different angles. That’s interesting. Their conflicts are interesting. Both of them are tested in many different ways. That’s interesting. The biggest difference between this and the Yoda thing from Empire is that we didn’t know Yoda yet.
But, I hear you asking, why does it need to be interesting? Why can’t this movie just have good vibes? I don’t know. I guess it could be. But this is more interesting. Three final things:
One. If Luke wasn’t at least a bit grumpy, then it wouldn’t make sense why he left everything behind.
Two, All of the pathos surrounding Lukes character in this movie: the scene with Artoo, his death, everything, all of it hinges on his being sad and lonely. None of it would work if he was exactly like he was in his original glory. Him facing his demons is interesting. Maybe it could have been better, but it's better than nothing!
Also, that scene where Artoo awakens in the Millenium Falcon is a pretty heartbreaking scene. It shows Luke being vulnerable, and human. It also allows Luke to mourn for Han. Remember, Luke ran away, and then his friend died because of Kylo, Luke’s biggest failure. Luke probably blames himself for Han’s death. While it’s never stated, this blame is resolved through Luke’s encounter with Kylo, as it’s basically Luke fighting a symbolic representation of his guilt.
Three, as I said this film is about heroism, and Luke finally embracing his heroic side and doing something cool and badass represents a victory for the idealism which once defined him. In order for this to work, Luke needed to have given up on his idealism at the beginning of the movie. If he hadn’t, then it wouldn’t be a victory, as there would be no struggle.
Luke’s sacrifice is a perfect ending for his character. His story in the first three movies is about him constantly being an underdog who had to overcome monstrous adversity all on his own. It makes sense that his final victory is overcoming the demons inside of him.
Plus, The Return of the Jedi saw Luke confronting his fear of turning evil through his confrontation with Vader. This movie has him confront his fear of being a failure through his confrontation with Kylo.
Luke’s story in this film is basically just Peter B. Parker’s story from Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse.
Both films work as celebrations of these heroic ideals by showing a character who has fallen out of love with these heroic ideals. However, a young and idealistic hero shows them the power of hope, and they eventually embrace heroism.
Anyways, let’s move onto the third big subversion of the film: Kylo killing Snoke. You see, Kylo does have his own arc. Kylo’s arc is about the fact that he doesn’t like being told what to do. That’s why he rebelled against Luke in the first place. Rey tries to convince him to become a good guy, and when he kills Snoke, she thinks she succeeded, but he just killed Snoke because Rey made him realize how much Snoke was controlling him.
This puts Rey’s idealism to the test. However, she then sees Luke sacrificing himself to defeat Kylo, and this shows Rey that she was able to save someone.
The final conclusion to Rey’s story is nice. Despite everything, Rey is still hopeful. Sure, she’s learned that sometimes things are shittier than she thought, but she still has the hope to go on. Also, despite everything, despite the fact that Kylo is still evil, she’s still fighting! That’s cool! That’s heartwarming! It’s triumphant! However, this all works because the characters went through hell.
I will admit, this is a rather miserable movie. However, it’s miserable for a reason. It’s so that it feels nice when the characters are still hopeful at the end. Like with Poe! He screwed everything the fuck up, but he’s still willing to try to be better. That’s nice! That’s a good message to tell kids.
Now, let’s return to Kylo killing Snoke. The problem that many people have with Snoke dying is that they never explained who he was. But how would they have done that? Also, what purpose would that serve?
Snoke being Darth Plagueis would be pointless. The characters don’t know who he is. I guess I would have liked it if he did something important before his death, but I’m not arguing this
movie is perfect.
Speaking of problems, all of the characters outside our main 6 are just chess pieces. The actions of Admiral Holdo and Leah and Hux don’t make much sense, and it’s a bit distracting. I think the writers did realize that, and I think that might be part of the reason why they didn’t kill Leah off. Her not dying didn’t make any sense in the context of the story, but if she didn’t get any interesting character stuff while Luke and Han did, then it would be unsatisfying. So, they decided to save the interesting stuff for the final movie.  Of course, in the end, she didn’t get any interesting stuff. Whoopsies!
Another issue people have is the plotline with Rose and Finn. Yeah. It does drag on a bit. The fault does not lie in Rose, who I think is a cute character with lots of personality.
She hadn't really seen anyone like her in this universe, and there was a lot of potential there that this movie set up.
However, the problem with this arc is that it messes with Poe’s storyline. You see, with Poe, there’s a feeling that they are running out of time, but having Rose and Poe go somewhere else and spend all this time there kind of ruins that.
The film also has a unique pacing to it, not bad, just unique for this series. Each of the three plotlines have their own climax: Holdo flying the ship into the star destroyer, Kylo killing Snoke, and Finn and Rey getting off of the casino planet.
However, after that, the salt planet then serves as a way for these three plot lines to collide in one giant climax. It is quite satisfying to watch.
But, like, this is just the script. What about everything else?
Well, every actor is giving two hundred percent. Adam Driver kills every scene he’s in by bringing an animal passion and a human empathy to his character. Oscar Isaac embodies everything about Poe perfectly. Mark Hamill manages to sail through a frick ton of complexities and internal struggle with ease.
The other actors are also giving it their all.
This film also looks great. That scene with the ship running into the star destroyer was awesome. Did it make one hundred percent sense? I guess not. But who cares? What’s important is that it looked awesome. Also, not having any sound was extremely clever. I suppose there is a problem with this being the awesomest moment in the movie since there are like, 45 minutes of screentime after this.
However, the set piece after this is also pretty awesome. The salt planet that bleeds is the coolest idea ever. It looks awesome and is a great place for a final battle. Plus, it’s always a relief to see an alien planet which actually looks alien, and having it “bleed” allows them to add a sense of carnage despite the PG-13 rating.
Honestly, I think that planet might be the coolest looking planet in all of Star Wars? Other than that, we have desert planet, forest planet, ice planet, and swamp planet.
However, the thing with Rose crashing her ship was infuriating, however, because it’s such a stupid thing for a character to do. I understand she was in love with Finn, but it’s still stupid. Whatever.
What I’m saying is this movie is great at spectacle, which is half of these movies. Plus, it has more style in its visual language then any of the other prequel films. It’s colorful, with some fantastic looking locations, and it also uses shadows and light really well.
The fights are also very fun, as many of them have a lot of different moving parts but never manage to be confusing. They can feel overwhelming and chaotic, but we still understand where the characters are and what they are doing. There’s also a great sense of scale in a lot of scenes, particularly the opening action sequence. The camera in this film is moving a lot, and it gives the action scenes a really great energy. Rian Johnson is also great at establishing a sense of stress. There are multiple scenes, including the opening action sequence, where characters are in situation that are straight up *stressful* in how everything is going wrong at once , and we feel their anxiety.
However, the score is rather lackluster, as it’s basically just the scores of all the previous movies blended into a smoothie. But whatever.
Anyways, in conclusion, The Last Jedi has many flaws, but it makes up for them with some fantastic character work, interesting themes, and a great visual style. It good.

So I watched Blood-C: The Last Dark
This whole review is going to have spoilers for Blood-C and other Blood media so if you care move along now. I'm not even gonna hide it.
The first half of this movie was honestly fire. Good stuff until the second half where that hill starts to decline real fast. The Last Dark starts out with a pretty solid follow-up to the ending of the anime. The world outside tbe events of Blood-C is actually interesting.
Unfortunately, this movie doesn't escape from some of Blood-C's original problems. There are too many scenes where I ask, "What was the point of that?" and I don't get a good answer. Not to mention that it still fails to explain important parts of the story.
Blood-C is already so weird. It's COMPLETELY different from the original Blood movie and Blood+. Saya hasn't made it her mission to destroy all Chiropterans in Blood-C. In fact, Chiropterans don't exist here. Instead the monsters she faces are called The Elder Bairns. These monsters are a lot more youkai-like more than anything else. There's never an explanation of what they really are and that's a huge shame.
In the plot twist for Blood-C's anime, it's revealed that Saya drinks the blood of The Elder Bairns and does not kill humans. This is completely different from original Blood's lore as she would still need human blood in the original, but is still hunting her own kind. Who knows why it's inconsistent, but whatever.
The whole fiasco that goes down in Blood-C was an experiment to test whether she would stay herself if her memories are completely changed. This whole plan seemed stupid to me though. Like why would you have her still fight The Elder Bairns if you you ultimately need her to kill a human? Why not raise her to hate humans or some shit?
The man behind the plan; Fumito, is also able to make paper fakes of himself? he does it in the movie, which slightly makes sense as he comes from a clan that works closely with The Elder Bairn and considering they're like youkai, he could be a Kannushi or some shit. Even so, it just comes out of nowhere and I just have to accept he could randomly pull anything out his ass. I already suspended my disbelief for controlling The Elder Bairn with Saya's blood through means never explained why you gotta make it worse? Everything Fumito does sucks except for confidently shooting part of Saya's face off in the anime.
Blood-C fails for most of its characters. One of the ones that died in the anime was actually redeemed in the movie and the hacker group in the movie was alright. Everyone else sucks though. The villains are handled REALLY bad and the Saya herself doesn't fair much better. Again, the first half of the movie was great. It redeems much of her character now that she's able to be proactive but then she just gets sidelined again by Fumito's bullshit.
Speaking of bullshit, did you know Blood-C is a CLAMP story? You know what that means! Blood-C actually crosses over with xxxHolic! (Not Tsubasa thankfully). The shopkeeper (forgot his name) actually plays a pretty vital role for Saya, but he makes NO SENSE if you're not aware of xxxHolic already. His existance feels so out of place and somewhat undermines Saya's own resolve by being there. Cringe. I'm okay with CLAMP doing crossovers like this, but it frequently amounts to having the audience go "Oh I know that guy!" followed by weakening the plot.
Speaking of out of place. The big CG monster at the end is so bad. I'm not even upset at the animation for it. Yeah, it clashes with the wonderful 2D animation for the movie, but who cares? There was no need for the giant monster! It just gets one-shotted anyway because it had a weak point. Gone as quickly as it came. Fades away leaving little lasting damage despite towering over the city. Why was it there? There's so much of that in Blood-C.
Why was there nudity? I was actually ready to praise a bit of the nudity. At first I thought they were doing a fan-service bit for no reason, but it was actually there to prepare viewers for the PTSD nightmare Saya has in her sleep. That's cool! Except the nightmare amounts to nothing! We already know she's traumatized. You could remove that nightmare and nothing changes.
I hate having these problems. Blood-C genuinely has some really cool shit in it. It may be worth a watch but like...I can't honestly say that. Truly a shame. If you're a fan of some good looking animation I would give it a look at least. Production IG whipped up something good with these visuals.
If you want a hyper violent anime with an actually good plot, I'd watch the 2019 adaption for Blade of the Immortal. Way better.

That is really a great challenge! The short answer is yes, a beginner musician can use some sort of pro mixer software. Extended answer though is which you need for you to become careful might help to prevent are turning out to be! Even if an individual a seasoned musician who would like to acquire recording, most likely find that some in the software in the industry can be very challenging use. Later . take more of their time away from what you want to do - making and recording music! Imagine physical exercise perform Kansas' Carry On Wayward Son, solo! mixpad Activation Code Free think which means. The same holds true for Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen. There are particular songs that cannot or should quit performed without those magical vocals. Bathroom drawer somewhere ? in turmoil do you're up to about it if you might be a solo performer? It's dispensable to record drums live and, in fact, it's tough to do and retain a modern sound. Can certainly buy off-the-shelf MIDI drum riffs and audio drum loops, or program extremely. The excellence of the gear it's drum noises these days is techniques anyone with a good riff can sound like a executive. It's a superb idea, but for someone brand new to the joy of recording, that phrase "some kind of recording setup" raises lots of questions, beginning with, which kind of recording organize? In the Ancient Days, there was only one answer: acquire a multi-track tape recorder and use that for the reason that basis for your residence studio. Sound quality world has changed, but the descendants of people early units still result from the kind of "standalone" DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) since those developed by Korg, Tascam, and other things. Your demo should only contain things appropriate for the market! anyway i.e. Commercials for mixpad an advertisement demo, cartoon voices to the cartoon demo, narration for a narration demonstration. Uh-oh it's starting to sound sweet. Ok, now add loan . of your sounds (FX, keyboard, guitar, etc.) promote those instruments sit of own space within a combination. If something is clashing, pan it a little to the left or right. Is it possible to hear every sound alone now? How's that kick sounding? Concerning mixpad Torrent ? May be the keyboard drowning it presently there? No? Cool! It's getting healthier. Some computers already possess a sound card installed. Ones that don't will need one, or you can get an mBox, a form of external sound master card. mBox runs about $500 and includes the software, ProTools. Again, talk on your own Helper. That's all there for you to it. A person sang harmony with yourself and didn't spend a dime! There are lots of steps you can take to enhance sound once you're done, such as reduce the noise, pan the voices left and right, and also so on. If you're interested in learning about those, and tons of other great stuff you will do with that recording-studio-you-didn't-know-you-had, check out our tutorials at can make Brew Audio website. Hello!
Hi my name is Fraynold Ricardo Lappay, I'm 16 years old. I was born on September 25, 2006 here at Tuguegarao city in Cagayan Valley Medical Center. I still have no idea on how will i be better in life because my mental health is yeah pretty messed up. But i started to work on myself this past month, so anyways let's move on to where i study. Oh right i almost forgot, I'm already a grade 11 student, i study here in Saint Paul University Philippines. It's a pretty awesome school i know
Talking about ✨ME✨
I really don't like talking about myself but let's give it a try, okay here we go....
My first thought or opinion about myself is thst I'm unapproachable because well i don't know HAHAHAHAH. I love drinking coffee whenever in study or watch some movies. My hobbies are drawing and working out well for some reason i get really lazy so i don't do those sometimes. Moving on... I don't really like hanging out with someone in not really close with, i don't know I'm uncomfortable with it, I'd rather walk alone in a mall and do nothing all day. I also love playing online games like Call Of Dutty Mobile, Clash of Clans and other games that i find fun to play. I'm going to be honest on this one, the reason why i don't want to hangout with friends I'm not really close with is because i always feel left out, I'm a very happy person but sometimes i get really silent. I always think that I'm not fun or I'm just an annoying person because i talk a lot and my laugh...well let's not talk about that HAHAHAHA! I don't really care much about politics because it's full of problems. Oh i almost forgot, I'm an introverted person, well i act like I'm an extrovert person but the truth is it's just I'm trying to do something new. Well i guess that's all i can share about myself, thank you for reading this. Have a great day!!!
•Where do I see myself 10 years from now? Was my learning in SPUP vital for where I’m leading to?
- To be honest I'm not so sure if I'll see myself being successful or still suffering, but i see myself as an architect or engineer in the future.
•Was STEM the best choice after all?
-For me STEM is not the best choice for all because it's really hard like you'll feel the pressure and the suffering, I'm having second thoughts on why did i choose stam HAHAHAHAH
•What course will you take in college, and why?
- Architecture, like i said I'm still not sure because I'm having interest on learning cells and others. The reason why architecture is my first thought it's because i want to continue my passion on drawings and i want to fulfill my dream job as an architect.

I'm curious since you mentioned trollhunters, but if you ever feel like it, would you change the movie? I myself didn’t really watch the series after b3llow season 1, but everyone said that it sucks.
I actually haven't checked out the movie yet. It's on my list but I'm just not in the mood for it.
And personally, I feel like the whole series went downhill starting with s3 of Trollhunters. It wasn't a satisfying season to me. They didn't take advantage of possible scenarios, and did characterizations I didn't care for, and went in a route I didn't like.
Like, you have Angor's revival, and you got Claire stuck serving Morgana unconsciously. This could set up her and Angor stuck serving Morgana and that could've been so interesting as not only were they enemies that had personal clashes, but Claire was all for Jim wearing Angor's ring. And in a nice little touch of irony, she's now in similar shoes to Angor and they're being forced to serve Morgana together. And the only thing keeping them from going at each other is that they both hate Morgana more, but she holds all the cards and they're stuck in this tension and develop a grudging respect for each other. Maybe something similar to a friendship develops but not exactly.
And s2 made me think I was going to see Claire and Angor interactions and just so ready for that tension. Just like Jim and Walt had a unique relationship, I was ready to see this.
Only I didn't.
And Angor for some reason was ready to be all loyal to Morgana?
Also Gunmar who has been the long built up villain, THE BIG BAD, is now not the big bad and the recently built up Morgana is, to a point that Gunmar is like her servant? And follows her with blind devotion?
Tumblr media
I don't know about you guys, but I didn't get that impression the first two seasons...
I'm putting the rest under cut cause I am going off. I don't know what's going on with me today.
I didn't like Merlin. He came out very differently than what I had perceived of Merlin at the end of s2. Yes, he did sound like an arrogant character, but not unkind. And based on what was built up, he was possibly the first and only human that trolls had a lot of respect for and vice versa as he made an amulet for this race to use.
Well, if he was planned like this, I got the wrong impression. He came out to be very obnoxious and creepy. And brought about one of the worst narrative choices I've seen at that time. Troll Jim wound up to be pretty pointless, and it had more cons than pros. He was made to face off against Morgana and guess what? He was out for most of that fight.
So we had gotten pretty pointless angst of Jim losing that normalcy he really wanted to go back to, for a plot reason that he wasn't even all that involved in. I could've rolled with half changeling Jim, but Troll Jim was pointless to me.
I also didn't care for s3's hammering in "your humanity's a weakness" and I'm over here like, wasn't the first two seasons more about his humanity being a strength??
Also missed opportunity of seeing Blinky and Walt butt heads as mentors. Side note, screw you Jim saying that Walt's like a father figure when Blinky is right there. It was only done to feed into the Walt and Barbara agenda which was going to happen anyway so it was a cheap move and a disservice to your dad.
Lastly, Douxie was a very pointless cameo to give attention to.
And then there's what comes after, 3 Below and Wizards.
3 Below I didn't enjoy at all, but I'll admit bias as I never liked space and aliens. This is why if ever asked, I'll say Dragon Age over Mass Effect easily. So 3 Below I personally wish I just skipped. There was nothing in there for me. They didn't even do Toby justice! He should be treated as more of a veteran character who has a unique wisdom to offer but nope! Just gotta still be a joke... it's also pretty dicey that one of the major villains of 3 Below is a black woman, which black characters are rare in this show.
And Wizards, I almost stopped watching at the first episode because Douxie annoyed me so much. At most, I kept watching for Claire and thankfully he got a lot better. And ultimately, I enjoyed Wizards far more than 3 Below, but not as much as the first two seasons of Trollhunters. Wizards was probably more confusing.
I still couldn't say why they had to travel to the past outside time travel convivence for unknown narrative reason.
I still didn't know who these new villains are and where did they come from? Why are they here now? Was I supposed to read a novel I didn't know the existence of?
The Morgana redemption was jarring as s3 was swearing up and down that she's the TRUE big bad. And King Arthur as a villain I didn't mind, but man I didn't like how they went about it.
And that could've been fitting as the Lady of the Lake, Lancelot's adoptive mother, is often thought to be a powerful fairy. And trolls should be of the fae folk, 1, I was suspecting that a lot of these characters were possibly reincarnations of famous characters from the Arthurian Legends. Jim for Lancelot, Claire for Morgana, possibly Steve for King Arthur, ect.
And that could've been fitting as the Lady of the Lake, Lancelot's adoptive mother, is often thought to be a powerful fairy. And trolls should be of the feyfolk, which could make sense as to why Jim Lake would be more easily accepted by races of magic if his ancestor was raised by a powerful fairy.
Oh, and Lady of the Lake, I am so sorry they made you an ugly giant one eyed kraken. Which to me is the most uninspired design that you could do. I'm all for her not being a human figure, but not this.
Last thing I want to rant about is Douxie. Thankfully, he did get better and became more likable. But knowing his set up and getting to see his character, I was so tempted to just turn off the tv. This character who is immortal and has been amongst humanity and "training" for years, well he's having a big tantrum like he's 4 yo. 3 Below already put me off majorly for Tales of Arcadia, and seeing this characterization, I wasn't in the mood for it.
So, that movie, yeah I'm not interested to see it. Mildly curious at most. But Tales of Arcadia, by s3 of Trollhunters, it was going downhill for me. They were making choices and changes I didn't like and it was clearly becoming a show that wasn't for me anymore. I don't know how the fanbase responded to ToA over all as I wasn't deep in it, so I'm going to presume I'm an odd one out fan wise. I'll probably see it sometime, but not anytime soon.
And sorry for going off, you probably got a lot more than you were expecting. I don't know what's going on but I guess I got a lot to let off these days.

omg do you have any ideas for the gaang + room decor (in a modern au ?? perhaps ??)
ok so aang wouldn’t really have that many material possessions, especially nothing flashy (though he probably has some art and assorted knickknacks) but his spaces would always have really warm vibes. like i picture his childhood bedroom walls being painted a kind of friendly, mustard yellow, and there being candles and blankets and pillows everywhere like when you’re in aang’s abode you just feel welcome and cozy and at peace
and then coupled with katara’s vibes, when they move in together as adults, it’s just extra warm and lovely and the walls are painted a light beige and there’s lots of indigenous art on the walls and seashells they’ve collected over the years on the mantle and on the coffee table and they’re both obsessed with candles which sokka claims is a fire hazard
katara’s childhood bedroom is entirely blue and purple because those are her favorite colors and she refuses to display anything in her rooms that does not match her particular colorscheme. she has lots of posters hanging on her walls, like she has a karl marx quote next to a picture of some boyband she’s obsessed with next to a poster of sea turtles she got at a climate change rally. also she would have one of those cutesy little landlines that is also purple and she twirls the cord around her finger while telling aang about her day, even though he was with her the whole time they still call each other every night just so she can twirl her phone cord around her finger
sokka’s room is extremely clean, like freakishly so, except for his desk which is an absolute fucking mess. he wouldn’t even know how to begin organizing it so he never bothers. half his closet space is dedicated to katara’s clothes (even tho she has her own closet) which he’s fine with because he only wears like three shirts, or just wears suki’s clothes anyway. he has a bunch of posters with science puns, and a periodic table poster, and a poster of uranus which is his favorite planet (everyone thinks it’s his favorite planet because he thinks the name is funny but it’s because he thinks it’s cool that it has a 98 degree axial tilt! she’s so unique.... so mysterious...) and also he has a really fluffy bright blue rug in the middle of his room that yue always insisted on lying down on even though the bed would have been objectively more comfortable. she liked sitting on the floor and getting lint all over her white sweaters, which her mother couldn’t stand. sokka gives the rug to katara after she dies because it reminds him too much of her looks kind of childish. katara had been eyeing that rug all her life (it’s fluffy and blue??? sign her tf up!!) so it actually worked out pretty well... all things considered.
the only things toph wants in her room is things that her friends have given her that remind her of them. otherwise she hates material possessions of any kind (reminds her too much of her evil bougie family) and thinks furniture should exist to be comfortable, and that’s it. if she couldn’t fit everything she owned into a small backpack, then she wouldn’t be toph.
zuko keeps everything because he gets sentimental over literally any object. no azula you can’t throw out that old leaf!!!!! he found that leaf in the park and it had a little caterpillar bite taken out of the side and don’t you see that leaf symbolizes him???? if he threw out that leaf it would be like parting with a piece of his soul!!!!! sokka’s like “oh so you’re a hoarder” which makes zuko even angrier because how is HOARDING if every object MEANS something even marie kondo would claim that if it sparks joy then it must be kept!!! and sokka’s like “....this empty sprite can sparks joy??” and zuko, deadpan, is just like. “IMMENSE joy.” katara hung out in his room one time and the clutter was so stressful for her that she just invited him back to her house every single time after that day. at one point mai just straight up says to zuko “maybe your weird little trash collection isn’t the problem, you just like feeling like you have some semblance of control over yourself and your life” and zuko immediately bristled at such a ridiculous, unfounded accusation and then refused to speak to her for three days, yknow, for no particular reason.
no one knows where suki lives (though the most popular theory is that she was actually raised by wolves) so no one, including sokka, has actually seen the inside of her bedroom. they’ve seen the inside of her pickup truck, though, which is basically the same thing. it’s filled with empty chip packets and loose joints and underwear that is not hers and sports gear that is mostly hers. it smells distinctly of girl sweat, and the same playlist of indie rock angry sad girl bangers is always on in the background. she knows the words to every single song that comes on when in her car, and she isn’t afraid to sing along to them, which most people find endearing, but katara absolutely cannot stand. she enjoys driving with no destination in particular in mind, and she and sokka like going to secluded areas and lying in the back of her truck and getting high and stargazing, an activity which might resemble a date to the untrained eye, but is in fact, totally not a date, because that would mean they’re dating and they’re definitely not, okay???
azula, naturally, is all about the minimalist rich bitch aesthetic. her apartment as an adult is so cold and uninviting sleek and modern that people are amazed that she’s not depressed just living there (and honestly. isn’t she?). there just is so much empty space and modernist architecture, not even a single carpet or piece of art on the walls. normally people who are into modernism would at least have some modern art, or something, but azula doesn’t actually understand modern art because it’s too abstract and mystical, and all art, really, is some froufrou nonsense for people like zuzu who gaze into wells all day instead of knowing how to get ahead and make bank. most of her bookshelf is just books that look good on a bookshelf, her old law textbooks, the art of war, and of course, ayn rand. lots and lots of ayn rand.
ty lee shares a living space with so many other girls that attempting to carve out her own distinct space for herself would be a fruitless endeavor. instead she makes a bunch of interior decor dreamboards for herself that comprise an inexplicable mix of gothic cathedrals, iconic 80s/90s teen girl bedrooms, cottagecore, and french rococo. yes, she knows it’s not aesthetically cohesive; sue her.
mai really really hates her parents’ style of mcmansion with just enough diluted japanese influences that it somehow makes them seem more assimilated. she wishes her room had yellow wallpaper just so she could peel it. as an adult, she makes sure to hang art she actually likes on her walls, but her taste in art is strange and offputting to pretty much everyone. she’s like grunkle stan in that one scene. whatever. everyone is a bunch of filthy aesthetes; they can’t handle the real shit that actually says something. also she has a giant terrarium for her lizards that takes up like a quarter of her living room. what i’m basically saying is that she is the coolest girl in the world and also fundamentally undateable.
when mai and ty lee ultimately move in together all of their stylistic interests clash with one another but they don’t care because their home is just filled with things they like, so it doesn’t matter. ty lee thinks that mai’s offputting art is amusing (mai’s like no it’s supposed to be DEEP but ty lee has a really twisted sense of humor so it’s just funny, the same way that horror movies are funny) and mai likes how eclectic ty lee’s tastes are. anyone who walks into their home only need to look around for 3 seconds maximum to be like “ah yes........... lesbians live here”

Thinking about the effect that the Scooby Doo legacy and stereotypes associated with it have had on the friendships of individual gang members other than just Shaggy and Scooby.
(Some negativity and a lot of personal opinion below, also running on 3hrs sleep so do what you will)
Like this post was actually written after my rant in the tags but in newer Scooby media (with newer counting as everything after the change in art styles and entrance to the 21st century in my mind) it always has to be a spectacle when they do something against the "Laws of Scooby" like they decide to switch up the clue finding pairings for an episode? Suddenly it's the focus of the whole thing, and people are clashing, and blah blah clap the writers on the back for being so self aware!
It's like: listen. Take that one what's new episode for example, in the mall where the toys come to life. They decide to split up the pairings, putting Fred and Shaggy together, and leaving Scooby with the girls. And instead of it being a fun and interesting change, it's just... awkward. Like suddenly Fred and Shaggy can't even have a conversation together? Like they can't even find a common interest to relate over for small talk and I'm supposed to believe that they're friends? And they ARE FRIENDS! First and foremost, friendship is the strongest binding factor in Scooby Doo! These teenagers basically live together and drive around solving dangerous mysteries together. Like for Pete's sake! There's your common intrest right there! It just rubs me the wrong way honestly
This same thing was done (I think I remember) in a few be cool, scooby doo episodes although like a lot of stuff in be cool, they handled it much better, and normally presented a resolution of the gang's friendships at the end of the episode, and would occasionally break the status quo with other team ups.
But still, compared to older, hanna-barbera era (hey, that rhymes!) it felt almost performative, like they were telling us that We, as an Audience had to acknowledge that they were being Different (TM).
Just when you compare it to older cartoons, specifically those where many of the iconic hallmark gags and catchphrases of scooby doo weren't fully cemented, it's a much more chill and relaxed affair. Like Velma can go look for clues with Shaggy and Scooby in WAY, no problem! But if it happens now, there has to be some sort of reason or conflict behind it other than them just being friends, and wanting to hang out!
It's just very interesting, and while an occasional trend, It's one I can find appearing more in Scooby properties I don't like as much, and less in those I do. Like some of the more recent straight to DVD movies! (Can they still be called that tbh?) I love those, and most of them, I've noticed, puts greater emphasis and care on the friendships of the gang than other properties do.
I've especially seen this with the more "popular" or mainstream Scooby media. Like the ones like Mystery Incorporated, the Gunn Movies, etc. try and do something different with the plot (most of the time to great acclaim) but do so at the expense of the characters and their friendship with each other
Like I appreciate what they're trying to do! I do! I like branching out, I loooove changing it up plot wise! But when you don't preserve the heart of the franchise (the scooby gang) it just feels uncomfortable, or flat to me as a Scooby fan.
Like to a more casual fan I can totally see how they can LOVE Mystery inc, or the Gunn Movies, but as someone who watches old episodes and owns and loves DVD releases, it doesn't always feel like the same characters or same story. Like I adore SDMI and what it tried to do with it's plot, but I can have a hard time having fun with it when the gang are arguing and neglecting their real friendships over bullshit relationship drama for the 15th episode in a row. It just makes me a little sad and it's hard to watch as someone who cared about them. It just... I'm a fan who would take a repetitive, carbon copy scooby story with solid and considerate versions of the characters over a story with an amazing plot, but horrible characterization (to the point that you could not PAY me to believe these people are friends) any day
Anyways this got much too long plus my rants in the tags, and I STILL haven't nailed down my point here and I don't think I will so I'll just wrap it up with the fact that Scooby Doo is character driven, and it has survived off those characters for over 50 years. And sometimes it seems that executives have a hard time remembering that when the adaptations most ingrained in the public consciousness seem to show the opposite of this. But I don't know, characterization and character dynamics are something that has changed and evolved a lot over the course of the Scooby Doo franchise's lifetime, and appears in many different forms at different times, making each show and movie (nay, each episode) almost hit or miss in the mind of each fan and their own version of the characters. And I think you can get your best glimpse at what other people see in Scooby through their version of the friendships it involves and how it stands as a central theme
#just mmm YES#the old series when a lot of the tropes and in gags and stereotypes werent set so they really had freedom to explore other dynamics n ideas!#like SO GOOD#like they DONT always split uo the same way shaggy and scooby doo want to solve the mystery and help its just... so good#there arent certain points they always hit each episode its so nice#like i was watching something and i actually think it was way later than WAY bc it was scrappy era but still original art style but ANYWAYS#they had a flashback to a fred and scooby team up! JUST fred and scooby! catching a bad guy together! do you know how awesome it is!#i swear nowadays anytime they switch up the teams at all its always a huge thing the episode has to point at like SEE SEE WE'RE ORIGINAL#and theres some bs plotline abt it being hard for people to get along in the new team ups#like the wnsd episode where its shaggy and fred and they cant find shit to talk about or like the bcsd episode where scooby and velma team#up (this one was better than the wnsd ep at least) and its like NO NO NO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THEY ARE FRIENDS#it shouldnt be awkward or played off for the studio to get brownie points for doing something different with scooby doo like no! nonononono!#just ugh the older episodes had their own little things but im just thinking about the weight that the tradition of what constitutes scooby#puts on the episodes#also this isnt a blanket statement because non classic era scooby can do gang dynamics really well at times!!! like holy shit! but i find#that it being done badly can turn good episodes into uncomfortable ones and okay episodes into boring ones#like sdmi!! the plot in sdmi can be the best thing ever but it sacrifices gang dynamics to do that and adds in artificial drama so#i have the most complicated feelings on it as a series and how it portrays the gang#same with the gunn movies! like i hate them because of the scrappy slander and shit but no matter how good they can be plot and comedy wise#i just cant believe the gang are actually friends in it and it takes a lot of that joy out of it and makes ut suffer in my eyes#SO TO SUM UP bc these tags got long as fuck for a one sentence post: the thing that turns good scooby into great scooby is defined in the#relationships of the main characters and their friendship above all else#tdlr: if they dont love each other youre doing scooby doo wrong#anyways wb hire me i would love to create character driven scooby shows and movies for you : )))#scooby doo#this is gibberish#you can tell im sleep deorived but whatever#anyways i didnt mention the 90s quartet when talking about mainstream interpretations and that was on purpose bc its Complicated.#and honestly deserves a full rewatch and another post before going into my opinions on them#hhhhhggggggg brain mush now okey bye
