It wasn’t like there was anything particularly wrong with Jamie, he wasn’t quiet and drawn the way he got that one time that freaked everyone out, Sam was just… concerned for his friend. He couldn’t really place where the concern started, it was just lots of little thing, comments here and there, the occasional observation. Isaac is the one who really makes Sam notice it. “Do you think it’s weird Jamie never goes home with anyone?” He asks *** sometimes, being different is really fucking lonely.

I have a possibly dumb question: I've seen you refer it as a "two aces fic but neither of them is ace", I'm confused what does that mean? (Not the term ace, the whole thing)

i'm so glad you're enjoying the clips i'm posting!! cuddling fics and platonic relationships with hard-fought shared vulnerability are everything to me and i'm so pleased to be able to share this fic with other people who find meaning and joy in it <3

the joke about it being the qpr two aces fic (but neither of them is ace) is about the fact that in the canon of the show, the arrival of dani to the team results in the coaches referring to having "two aces" now, i.e. jamie was their "ace" player (a player that gives them a strong advantage given the position he plays and the skill with which he does) and dani was another ace, and now they had two! and the fandom sort of collectively refers to jamie and dani as "two aces" as a kind of collective nickname. since the fic is about their relationship, and specifically about them deciding to have and figuring out how to have a queerplatonic relationship, i call it the qpr two aces fic! it's funny tho bc i had a post i made about that fic get circulated kind of narrowly but still outside my direct circle and people obviously thought i meant 'two asexuals' which was really funny to me bc in the fic neither of them is portrayed as asexual sldfjk.

Yep! You can want to think about sex, masturbate, have fantasies and more AND never feel sexual attraction or want to have sex with a real physical person!!

I’m aegosexual, and I think it might be best for you to look into that too anon! I personally define aegosexual by still having sexual ideas/thoughts about characters or similar, reading sexual content ect! I have never felt sexual attraction for a real person nor have I ever had sex… but give me a good 3rd person smut fic and I’ll be hooked!

can I just say thank you for writing ace twojamie fic!! I'm aroace and I genuinely thought this ship would be too obscure for that to exist but I'm so thankful I was wrong and it was amazing fic btw -you're a great writer!!

oh man thank you!! I know I say this every time someone says something remotely nice about unsorted but I really am always taken aback by how well it was received and how many people seem to like it <3

but I totally get what you mean about aro/ace fic being hard to find in fandom. like, I don't think I've ever had a major ship where I haven't read them as ace in some way, and yet even in far bigger fandoms I've struggled to find fic where the characters are ace. (to the point that I have opened fics in a haze of excitement only to realise I missed the red flags in the tags and it's actually just an aphobic joke :///) & I imagine the romance-heavy focus of fandom makes looking for aro fic even worse.

two and jamie have just always seemed to me like a ship that is. not very allo in any respect, tho. I definitely remember seeing a post interpreting them as queerplatonic soon after I first watched two's era (would link it, but this was like 2015 and I have no idea where I saw it or if it's even still kicking around). at the time I was kinda on the fence about shipping them and I was like, yeah, that makes total sense to me actually. even tho I obviously eventually shifted into reading them as romantic personally, I would still happily vibe with interpreting them as queerplatonic, bc the most important thing with them as characters is that they're together in a partnership, whatever form that takes. & over the last couple of years I've also really started to toy with two not exactly experiencing romantic attraction like humans do (which I'll admit is kinda influenced by my own inability to distinguish/define romantic attraction), so maybe re-injecting some arospec vibes? idk. & I've been hcing them as ace for so long that I don't even really have a reason or justification for it, that's just. how they are, in my head.

despite the size of the fandom and the ship tho I do know there's a handful of people who DO read them as ace. which probably says something about classic who fandom demographics gjkd. but also is such a refreshing vibe for me compared to other fandoms I've been in or read for. peace & love on planet earth etc etc

When Richard suggests a novel way for the Richmond boys to show their allyship, Colin ends up coming out to the team...just not in the way they were expecting.

In which the team gets distracted (multiple times), Isaac is overprotective, Jamie suspects Colin might actually be a Jedi knight, and Bumbercatch reveals way more about his sexual preferences than anyone was expecting. (And poor Will is inadvertently scarred for life.)

A cute little fic that I found perusing the asexual tag. I really enjoyed this au, and Colin's coming out/the guy's reactions to him as well as him not having it all figured out himself.

OR: Jamie Tartt is aromantic. This changes everything. This also changes nothing. A study in identity, defining your own relationships, and different kinds of love.

I am completely in love with this fic. Jamie having a bi panic before he realizes actually, neither is good/ref. It's very true to my own experiences and made me relate to him so much.

Apparently I just need to binge read this author's whole collection of works because I didn't realize they also write A is for Ally until making this. Asexual Jan Mass which again I found myself relating to a lot. Technically part of a series and his asexuality was mentioned in the first work, but it's central to the plot of this one. It's also super cute.

I really enjoyed writing this, even if the last 2k was just a fight against myself. It went through so many different versions and ended longer than I meant for it to be. I really neat part of the Ted Lasso fandom is how platonic so much of the content is.

Jamie Tartt/whump for sure. My most written ship. Basically every story I write. Can’t stop thinking about it.

8. Least favorite ship to write?

All of them? I’ve only written 2 Roy/Jamie fics and one RJK fic and 2 were requests and 1 was more of a challenge to myself. I do have a series with Jamie and Roy’s sister but I don’t ship them I just at the time thought it would be an interesting dynamic.

But, over the last months and learning more and more about myself and coming into my own aro-ness, I’ve realized shipping isn’t really my thing. I (hope I) write layered, loving, platonic relationships. If someone reads it as shipping then go right ahead, but I’m most comfortable writing platonically.

Why this story?

Over the last 2 years, I've been suffering from intermittent bouts of dizziness and head pressure. Recently, I finally got my diagnosis of vestibular migraine, which has been a relief and given me a lot of clarity. Nonetheless, the harrowing experience of not knowing what was wrong with me and feeling like this long-unexplainable something was ruining every part of my life caused me to start creating stories about it to make it more manageable.

TCOU was originally my response to a friend's challenge to write a contemporary story. I've never written anything contemporary other than fics before, so I thought it would be an exciting project to get me out of my comfort zone. The concept started out as an aroace, chronically ill Pride & Prejudice, but has evolved into something very different. I now think of it as more of a general romance for non-romantics. It's a story about aro and ace people getting to star in their own romance. It's about a chronically ill heroine learning to love herself. It's about people using (but not totally adhering) to societal constraints in order to claw their way to their happy endings.

Okay, okay, this one hasn’t gotten very far because while I am fascinated by a/b/o themes, I feel like it is kind of a tightrope to not have it fall into a weird kind of aro/ace erasure. I know it doesn’t, technically, because that’s the whole concept of beta, yeah? And yet.

I’m demi, so I’m often interested in those inbetween realities.

So a non-sexual a/b/o fic is right up my alley. I have another one that I somehow forgot to even put on my list. That is similar. But that one doesn’t have any longterm relationship markers.

This one does but said relationship is platonic.

Does the a/b/o world change what that looks like? It must. But if a/b/o is so sexual in nature…what does that mean. Y’know?

And no one is better suited to have an intentional life that has nuance than Sam. And I love Jamie so I want him to get every kind of love a human can get.

Jamie had always felt kind of weird about dating. Not a bad kind of weird, he liked kissing and touching and sex well enough, but he didn’t get all of the other stuff. Dates and labels and shoving yourself into this picturesque ideal of what life and love is supposed to look like. He didn’t get what was so wrong with just making out with your friends, didn’t know why he had to be someone’s boyfriend to do that. He did it anyway, because what else was there to do? Jamie was lonely, he always had been at least a little bit, and dating was an easy way to fix that. So that’s what he did, he played the part of boyfriend even though it felt like putting on a show for an invisible audience, and in return for his stunning performance he had someone to fall asleep next too and drag grocery shopping with him. Now though, he didn’t need to put that show on. He had his pick of people he could harass into grocery shopping with him, namely Dani, Sam or Roy and if he wanted to crawl into bed with someone all he had to do was mention the word sleepover and he had half the team jumping at the fucking chance.

The Same Story

(Ted Lasso fic, taking a look at what would’ve happened if James Tartt Sr. had decided to make another, much more public scene. Gen, 11 chapters posting every 3 days, interspersed with social media and news media posts, as pictured above.)

“So,” Trent starts, keeping his voice mild and professional. “We have all, by now, seen the footage from the unfortunate run-in you had with your father, the night of the twenty-fifth of April in the car park at Coventry City FC’s pitch.”

It would've been traumatic enough for Jamie's father to ruin Richmond's most recent victory in front of the whole team, but when the confrontation turns violent in front of a gaggle of reporters, the ensuing social media firestorm is even worse. Over the next two and a half weeks, Jamie will have to navigate the charges against his father, walk a gauntlet of publicity that he never asked for, and prepare to give the interview of a lifetime.

Luckily, Richmond has always been there to catch him on the other side.

I really love that not only do Sherlock and Joan never get together in the entire run of Elementary, it's never even really played as a possibility.

As an ace person I appreciate that so much. Like, there's a few one off minor characters that assume Joan is Sherlocks girlfriend, but only one reoccurring minor character that flat out asks Joan if she ever considered dating Sherlock. When Joan says no, they drop it and never bring it up again. SEVEN SEASONS and that's it.

I know more than one allo person that expressed disappointment that there was never more than friendship between the two of them, and that to them the series finale was unsatisfying, but for me it was the opposite.

A man and a woman were allowed to form a deep friendship with a strong sibling energy, and no forced romance.

Both Sherlock and Joan have aro vibes to me. Sherlock has two romantic relationships in the entire series that we see. One with 'Irene Adler' who is also this series's Jamie Moriarty, and one with a computer programmer named Fiona (goes by Mittens online) who is openly autistic (a bit stereotypical but not a bad representation tbh). Neither relationship is exactly standard. Aside from those two, Sherlock maintains a handful of amicable physical relationships with a revolving cast of women that are mostly played for laughs and niche knowledge for cases.

Joan, she dates a few people here and there, including Mycroft Holmes, with there being one other major romance that we see with a man named Andrew. That ends sadly, right as Joan was poised to break up with him anyway (which is an extra layer of guilt for Joan) because she's just not feeling the depth of emotion she knows she should as they hit the 'meet the parents' milestone.

A few seasons later, Joan goes through a whole character arc focusing on her trying to adopt a baby as a single woman and how that would affect her and Sherlocks relationship.

Joan goes on to, in the last skip ahead episode, adopt a child as a single woman, no guy in sight, with Sherlock implied to have fallen happily into an Uncle role.

Just two aro self adopted sibling detectives, raising a kid, solving crimes. I love it so much.

tbh what kills me about this whole Rings of Power mess is that, if they had just done this RIGHT they would have had a home run hit. Every Tolkien fan I know would have watched it and made art and fic and bought merchandise and urged their friends and family to watch it! It would be the lotr movies again. It would have hit like the first couple of MCU movies were. It would have been ADORED.

But they chose to cheap out on EVERYTHING and to CHANGE everything to make it ‘sexy’, chose to have their stuntworkers perform dangerous stunts with not enough safety equipment, chose to take beloved characters like Elrond and Galadriel and Celebrimbor and twist them into barely recognizable caricatures... I would be here all day if i tried to list all the things wrong in the short clips we’ve gotten.

It’s gonna fail, and they paved the road themselves. We could have had it all, but instead we got Amazon.
