Helloooo bestie💕!
Popping in to present you with a scenario. If you had to make a spectacular feast entrance or just arrive fashionably late to a court preceding in Westeros what would you wear? What would your green dress moment/outfit of choice be?
Oh Zae, I have thought of this so many times. I took my time and savoured this ask.
I went through all the dress moodboards I have saved for my fanfic and chose the best ones. ❤
So for my Alicent-esque Green Dress moments, I would choose...
For a spectacular feast entrance at night,
Tumblr media
I will go with this blue beauty.
I will definitely come fashionably late so all eyes are on me when I do enter 😌
The dress flirts the boundaries of scandalous with the bare shoulder cut but still covers me appropriately. Of course, as per medieval standards, the gown will be more free flowing but the bodice and the sleeves will be body con.
It won't be a full on A-line gown. Let's say it will be like the loose dresses that Dany wore in Meereen that weren't completely A-line.
For a daytime court proceeding,
Tumblr media
it doesn't matter if I am a spectator or on trial, I will wear white.
bcoz of course I am a virtuous lady who has never done anything wrong 😌😌😌
I will get rid of the lengthy shawl and get a thin bunched up off-the-shoulder sleeves that springs out from the sides of my corset.
The gold corset and earrings are the standout and will shimmer well when the rays of sun fall on it. All eyes on me again 😌
Quite scandalous of me to show off my collarbone and shoulders but I am technically quite covered so 😘
This is, quite literally, the best ask ever that I have received Zae!! Mwah!!! 💓

asoiaf characters as youtubers
cersei: she is the CRAZIEST mukbanger ever. always has some new drama to talk about and it’s very very interesting so she has millions of subscribers. you know that meme of azealia banks’ internet feuds list? yeah that’s cersei. she’s beefed with everyone on the platform and never makes any apology videos for it. she’s had the channel since before she gave birth to joffrey and it’s still going strong. she sometimes does sponsorships but only for wine companies
tyrion: he is the vsauce of asoiaf youtube. does a lot of videos about scientific theories and experiments that get a lot of views. sometimes has drama with people but it’s not very often. he did a face reveal once he got to 3 mil and people edited picsart flower crowns onto his head and made it their pfp, so his comments are just filled with those. sometimes does his own experiments but they always end up going wrong
margaery: she does a lot of makeup tutorials!! she makes sure to use easily accessible drugstore makeup products so people can follow along. she has a couple million subscribers and is renowned as the most non-toxic makeup youtuber of all time. tried to collab with cersei but cersei didn’t show up. she also used to be a nail tech so she has a master class on that
theon: OMGGG theon is THE internet gossip youtuber ever. he’ll literally be pumping out videos about feuds hours after they started. some call him shady cause of the types of videos he makes but he doesn’t care cause he’s having fun. he also has a twitch gaming streaming channel and he is the Jerma of his universe there. he sucks at the games and does not know anything about gaming consoles or the best mics/cameras etc so he has to get computer science™ major jon to help him
sansa: sansa is a fashion design major in nyc so of COURSE she is posting lifestyle vlogs. she started the whole channel because she was featured in a few of margaery’s videos and people kept asking for her to make her own. but she is also very careful with her privacy cause she’s scared of someone finding her. she also has a second channel where she posts sims 4 videos and it’s super chill and fun over there
arya: arya’s really into self defense so she mostly posts tutorials and videos about that. she’s super super helpful in the comments but will insult people brutally when provoked. her genre isn’t as popular as the others so she has a couple hundred thousand (very loyal) subscribers. she also has a secret second channel that only has around 10k subs and everyone there gatekeeps tf out of it. she posts roblox and fortnite videos with her siblings that are really funny and entertaining. all of the girls in the comments are thirsting for robb 😭
jon: jon doesn’t post very much but when he does post it’s minecraft videos. most of the time sam is in them and sometimes robb will make an appearance but he has no idea what is going on. jon posts minecraft builds and he has his own smp (is that what they call it????) he’ll occasionally post videos about playing choices matter games like detroit become human and until dawn. sometimes ppl go ??? because during his minecraft build videos he traumadumps in the background instead of just putting on music or smth. he doesn’t show his face tho cause he’s afraid of getting made fun of
myrcella and tommen: ok they have a super secret channel that only has around 1,000 subscribers where they post videos of their cat. that’s all. people in the comments are super sweet and myrcella and tommen make an effort to respond to all of them. their videos only get like 230 views each time they post but they don’t really care they’re having fun
renly and loras: they’re posting relationship vlogs and stuff but they don’t have a filter so sometimes they talk about really nsfw stuff and get in trouble for it. they’re mostly known for their travel vlogs but they also do videos about drama in their lives that is literally insane. like once renly casually brought up how his brother almost killed him during a ouija board game and loras is like “mhm mhm” but all of the comments are ???? margaery collabs with them all of the time too
bran: 3am challenges.

Some random fashion/hairstyle/accessory headcanons for asoiaf. total and complete mashup of historical periods of the middle ages
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think women in the Stormlands are all about those wimples, snoods, cauls, etc cause you know, wind and all that. I think the higher up the chain of nobility a woman gets, the less she covers her hair up - it shows a pretty high level of wealth and privilege to have the time to sit for hours while a servant pins hair up in an elaborate style made to hold in the wind. As well as the privilege noble ladies have of being able to just go inside when the weather is stormy, as opposed to smallfolk who potentially don’t have that option when they’re running farms and shops (and therefore need something to hold their hair with little effort 24/7)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the Riverlands are pretty similar to the Stormlands in that they are generally a more practical sort of people, and wealth is displayed more through impractical items to wear and/or make. Fuckoff big and weird headgear, ruffs that take a lot of time and fabric to make, farthingales (even if that is pushing it on the “middle ages” time period) and especially French farthingales on special occasions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Westerlands on the other hand? It’s precious metals, jewelry, gemstones embroidered into clothing, gold braid, velvet, fur, every ostentatious display of wealth you can think of. I also like them wearing farthingales, since they’re right next to the Riverlands and I like them in similar but slightly different styles (for reasons that will go in another post). In general I also like the idea that clothing gets less structured as one gets further south, so the Riverlands and Westerlands are the only ones wearing farthingales
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Reach is a very romantic culture, so I think the women there would want to show off their hair while still staying within the realm of Westerosi modesty. Unmarried women wear their hair “down” but still held back with braids in some way, while unmarried women wear something close to a balzo so they can show their hair while still keeping it “covered”. The Reach is a pretty big region, so as you get closer to the Riverlands you start to see some escoffions, as you get closer to the Stormlands you start to see more elaborate braids and cauls, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we been knew that Iron Islanders are Vikings but I do actually love Viking clothing for them specifically because of the little brooches/pins/patches they wear to hold the straps on their strap dresses. Vikings historically would have used these to attach and carry various items, and it does feel very Iron Islands for their few bits of decoration to also serve a practical purpose.

medieval-catholic miscellanea i want in asoiaf
saints in general local saints and central church saints. saints going in and out of fashion based on contemporary events/values. saints as a connection between the congregation and the more difficult to grasp seven. we’ve been over this
saint-cults and relics, especially in relation to royal/noble power. access to the holy as an attribute of power targ saint relics from old valyria (to be unattainably holier than the other houses), noble family saints with their own relics for religious clout (lannisters definitely pushing for a saint in the family every time one of them dies. lying through teeth like yeah she loved wearing hair shirts and sponsoring monasteries)
hagiographies (saint biographies) as a significant genre of history-writing ‘as much as it could be liturgy, theology, edification, and propaganda’ - scholar’s editions might inform sermons on saints’ lives, the details of which could be judiciously edited (significant overlap between saint-kings and kings who donated large sums of money to the church)
ascendancy for women within the church, potential to socially advance as an abbess, but also noble families putting excess daughters into the church to write the family history and stay out of trouble
more religious schisms in general i know there’s scholars at the citadel inventing seven-related discourse we can’t even imagine. does not matter how minor these arguments are you can fight a holy war over that. history maesters are knifing each other in the cafeteria over the theological relationship between the father and the mother
more medieval-style stained glass/fresco/carving communication through images targeting the illiterate. pov characters are by and large outliers and should not have been counted most people in westeros can’t read!!
miracle accounts person or relic. touch relics to cure disease touch the king to cure disease. power of some (targ) relics so potent that even cloth that’s touched one is holy (contact relics)
miracle power of saints is itself a form of magic/superstition, but ‘occult’ practices mix with church ideas especially in the localities. pagan practices official gods slaughter a goat for your local saint magically misappropriate an image of the maiden
local differences in religion closest we get is dornish faith gay rights. this shit was village-by-village even if it was all broadly the same ideas
genuinely surprised there’s so little crusading/sanctified violence into ‘heathen’ lands
does anyone in asoiaf have a book of hours? i love books of hours. church time and the ritual year as easiest method of tracking dates e.g. three days after candlemas
catholic confession is in asoiaf nice one george!!

ASOIAF + Wind and words
Robert set the pace, driving his huge black destrier hard as Ned galloped along beside him, trying to keep up. He called out a question as they rode, but the wind blew his words away, and the king did not hear him. After that Ned rode in silence. They soon left the kingsroad and took off across rolling plains dark with mist. By then the guard had fallen back a small distance, safely out of earshot, but still Robert would not slow. — AGOT, Eddard I
“Then Lord Eddard is a man in ten thousand. Most of us are not so strong. What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms … or the memory of a brother’s smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy. — AGOT, Jon VIII
“Well, as to that, some gave me soft words and some blunt, some made excuses, some promises, some only lied.” He shrugged. “In the end words are just wind.” — ACOK, Prologue
The maester laughed at that. “And there you have it, my lord. Words are wind, you know, and you’ve blown mine away with your good sense. His Grace knows what he has in you, I think.” — ASOS, Davos V
“Words. Words are wind. Why do you think I abandoned Dragonstone and sailed to the Wall, Lord Snow?” — ASOS, Jon XI
“Words are wind. If you love me, do not leave me.” — AFFC, A Soiled Knight
“. . . did not stop you slaying Aerys. Words are wind. You could have had me, but you chose a cloak instead. Get out.” — AFFC, Jaime II
“Words are wind,” Victarion told them, “and the only good wind is that which fills our sails. Would you have me fight the Crow’s Eye? Brother against brother, ironborn against ironborn?” Euron was still his elder, no matter how much bad blood might be between them. No man is as accursed as the kinslayer. — AFFC, The Iron Captain
Words are wind, Brienne told herself. They cannot hurt you. Let them wash over you. “As you command, my lord,” she tried to say, but Tarly had gone before she got it out. She walked from the yard like one asleep, not knowing where she was going. — AFFC, Brienne V
“So you say. Words are wind. When the hour is ripe, you may produce this paragon of yours and we will see if he is all that you have promised.” — AFFC, Cersei VII
The thing that had been Catelyn Stark took hold of her throat again, fingers pinching at the ghastly long slash in her neck, and choked out more sounds. “Words are wind, she says,” the northman told Brienne. “She says that you must prove your faith.” — AFFC, Brienne VIII
“Fine words.” Tyrion was unimpressed. “Words are wind. Who is this bloody savior?” — ADWD, Tyrion I
[...] “From all I hear, his lordship’s fatter than ever. So much for vows. Words are wind, and the wind from Manderly’s mouth means no more than the wind escaping out his bottom.” — ADWD, Davos I
“Words are wind,” said the young woman behind Lord Wyman’s high seat, the handsome one with the long brown braid. “And men will lie to get their way, as any maid could tell you.” — ADWD, Davos III
He shall be the stallion that mounts the world. Dany knew how it went with prophecies. They were made of words, and words were wind. There would be no son for Loraq, no heir to unite dragon and harpy. When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. Only then would her womb quicken once again … ... Dany folded her hands together. “Words are wind, even words like love and peace. I put more trust in deeds. In my Seven Kingdoms, knights go on quests to prove themselves worthy of the maiden that they love. They seek for magic swords, for chests of gold, for crowns stolen from a dragon’s hoard.” — ADWD, Daenerys IV
Iron Emmett grimaced. “Men are men, vows are words, and words are wind. You should put guards around the women.” — ADWD, Jon VII
“Be that as it may, they do not trust you. The men of New Ghis feel the same. Words are wind, as you yourself have so oft said. No words of yours will secure this peace for Meereen. Your foes require deeds. They would see us wed, and they would see me crowned as king, to rule beside you.” — ADWD, Daenerys VI
“That is good to hear,” the prince said, “but words are wind. You are my brother’s daughters and I love you, but I have learned I cannot trust you. I want your oath. Will you swear to serve me, to do as I command?” — ADWD, The Watcher
“—that I am half a wildling myself, a turncloak who means to sell the realm to our raiders, cannibals, and giants.” Jon did not need to stare into a fire to know what was being said of him. The worst part was, they were not wrong, not wholly. “Words are wind, and the wind is always blowing at the Wall. Come.” — ADWD, Jon VIII
“Words are wind.” They are no better than me. We’re just the same. “You killed the others, why not him? Yellow Dick—” — ADWD, Theon I
The words seemed to give the girl some comfort. Words are wind, though, Ser Barristan thought. How can I protect the queen when I am not with her? — ADWD, The Queensguard
His years in the Kingsguard had taught him the trick of listening without hearing, especially useful when the speaker was intent on proving that words were truly wind. — ADWD, The Discarded Knight
Cersei walked on. I am blind and deaf, and they are worms, she told herself. “Shame, shame,” the septas sang. “Chestnuts, hot roast chestnuts,” a peddler cried. “Queen Cunt,” a drunkard pronounced solemnly from a balcony above, lifting his cup to her in a mocking toast. “All hail the royal teats!” Words are wind, Cersei thought. Words cannot harm me .… Words are wind, she thought, words cannot hurt me. — ADWD, Cersei II
A steady drip-drip-drip punctuated his words, as snowmelt ran off his cloak to puddle on the floor. The snow had been falling on King’s Landing most of the night; outside the drifts were ankle deep. Ser Kevan Lannister pulled his cloak about himself more closely. “So you say, ser. Words are wind.” — ADWD, Epilogue

In blacks and greens, alicent and other greens regular comment on how scandalous rhaenyra's dresses are. So is it really the case? I mean what is the normal standard for a dress in westeros and what exactly goes in rhaenyra's mind if she really wears dresses that reveal more than normal
Hi there Anon :D
For the most part many aspects of the Westerosi fashion are left to our imagination. Personally, I imagine them being a mixture of fantasy with real world medieval fashion. However, like most things our world vs. asoiaf universe, the latter was a lot more permissible when it came to woman’s sexuality (even if it still was sexist af), and I believe this very much included fashion.
We know from George himself (So Spake Martin) that Rhaenyra was quite fashionable. She favoured maroons and purple, often wearing velvet and Myrish lace, diamonds and pearls often glistened on her bodice, and she always wore rings. I try to convey this when I write her in The Blacks & the Greens.
It is one of my headcanons that Rhaenyra, besides being quite fashionable (which would be semi-canon imo), wore whatever she liked and was quite bold in some of those choices. Why shouldn’t she be? She was the king’s daughter and heir, so powerful that no man would dare touch her without her consent, so I think she could be a lot bolder with her choices. Let’s be honest, it was not like Viserys worried about what made her look less chaste XD, if he did he wouldn’t have left his virgin daughter spend the Seven knows how many hours alone with Daemon. She got it, and she showed it. Besides, the Greens being the misogynistic pos that they were, this would be just another thing to show how “wanton” Rhaenyra was. Just imagine Ser Crison “Incel” Cole clutching his pearls at another display of Rhaenyra’s “wanton ways”. Damn... his sheets would put those of a teenager to shame 😌
Tumblr media
And I imagine Alicent being especially judgmental of Rhaenyra’s choice of garments because of her “fuller” figure. I mean, let’s be real, how many pos do we have in our society that clutch their pearls if a fuller woman with big 🍈🍈 decides to wear cleavage? It’s like having 🍈🍈 somehow makes the outfit more shameful. Like how dare her show a part of her body that offends me?
In contrast to Rhaenyra, Alicent would worry about how others saw her. She had a father to answer to, a family. She was only a lady, not a princess. She had to have a good marriage and since unlike Rhaenyra she didn’t have a fortune and throne to give, she needed a pristine reputation. And she came from a quite religious family, so she would wear (in my personal headcanon and as you see in my fic) a lot more conservative clothes.
The Princess and the Queen, being rivals, that did contrast with each other so much - Rhaenyra was younger, fuller, beautiful, and passionate; Alicent was older, thinner, pretty, and quite shrewd and in check of her own emotions - would also contrast in their choices of fashion, not only because they had different tastes but because they wanted to show how different they were. So, Rhaenyra wore quite a lot of things inspired by the fashion of Essos and even of Valyria, some that showed a bit more skin, especially in areas that flattered her. She wore warm colours, associated with love others with royalty (e.g., pink, red, maroon, purple, gold, violet, black - the later for her House). Alicent would stick to the fashion of Westeros, more conservative pieces that in her head fitted what a proper queen should wear. She also wore “cold” colours a lot (e.g., blues, greens, greys).
So answering you, Anon, yes she did wear a lot of more “forward” things. Why? Because she could and because Rhaenyra is our one true princess and Queen of Fashion (and of the Seven Kingdoms), so she can wear whatever she wants and the Greens can die mad about it 😬
And bellow you have a good example of what I would imagine Rhaenyra might wear when she was feeling bolder 😎 and of how mad that always left Alicent, done by the one and only @shrinkydinks2

it’s been a wild ride these last few years, but I’m finally at my wit’s end with tumblr.
asoiaf is and will always be my favourite book series, but the fandom is a nightmare. there are some truly questionable takes under the guise of ‘canon’ or biased taken-out-of-context metas that claim to be nuanced and I just can’t do it anymore. I’m not surprised the best of fandom have quit - it’s impossible to exist in this space and not be a toxic mess when the only debates happening are about dragging other characters down instead of any proper analysis. or complaining that everyone else is mean and toxic while being hypocrites yourselves. truly maddening stuff.
so I’m out. it’s been fun and a rollercoaster of emotions and wish you all the very best of luck. leaving my blog up as a final memorial to something I’ve dedicated countless hours of my life to and I can’t bring myself to delete it, but feel free to unfollow as I won’t be posting anything more on here.
in true grrm fashion, ending my run as a stark supremacist. that’s what the story is, after all.

5, 11 and 12!
Ooohh thank for asking ☺️🥰
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
For 2022 I have sadly only published one fic and to my absolute surprise it’s for HOTD? I didn’t even plan on watching the show and now I’m back to not only writing fic but also actually publishing it in a timely fashion? I blame all the fun I’m having with the High Valyrian dialogue, because nothing gets me excited to geek out like conlangs and when it takes hours for you to figure out a handful of lines of dialogue then I’m just desperate that all that work doesn’t join my drafts graveyard lol.
11. What work took you the longest to write?
I’ve been working on a queens of Númenor fic FOR YEARS. Not even joking. My main problem is I get stuck in the feels and it becomes debilitating. I spent a good chunk of this year editing it (and it’s not even a very long fic, I just keep changing my mind). I don’t think it counts because I haven’t published it this year, but it’s coming sometime (I hope).
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
Ooof buckle up, I just had to dive down into my draft graveyard and just gave up counting!!! 😳
Tolkien Legendarium
- Spring of the Elvenking: Set in the Fourth Age, a sort of outside perspective on the fading of the elves. I wrote in full About two years ago and then accidentally deleted it so I had to rely on an early draft. Obviously I lost a bunch of motivation because of that (especially because I put so much effort into editing it!!) but I want to just get it out there because I was super proud of it.
- Queens of Númenor fic
- Faramir fic
- Éowyn fic (maybe parallels Faramir, maybe standalone, I haven’t edited so I can do either at this stage)
- Elrond fic
- Fíriel of Gondor fic
- Dunlendings / Rohan war + Long Winter fic
- Míriel and Indis fic
- I also would have sworn I wrote a fic that was a bit more fun about the shire but I can’t find it anywhere so maybe it was a fever dream or more likely it was in the folder I accidentally deleted along with my Spring of the Elvenking fic.
Other fandoms:
ASOIAF/HOTD/GOT:
- I reread the Dunk and Egg short stories (even if you don’t like game of thrones stuff, I’d recommend. Very fun, relatively wholesome and in the same universe but ~100 years before GOT and ~100 after HOTD so you don’t need to remember names etc.) Because of this, I’ve lost my mind and decided to write my attempt at a the 4th instalment because it’s not like its coming anytime soon :/ So far, I have not had good results lol.
- An angsty fic on Aegon III’s legacy for his three daughters (particularly Elaena)
- Some other miscellaneous stuff for fic challenges I’ve entered just to get back into the writing habit (plus I’m having so much fun with the High Valyrian, conlangs are my jam!!!)
Merlin
- A post-canon fic dedicated to angsty once and future king times with lonely Merlin, but it’s a rough draft
- Morgana character study (because I love women and most of all I love HER)
I’ve also got some fics for other non-fantasy fandoms that are well overdue an update, but the longer I wait to get back to writing then the guiltier I feel and I just stop!!!
Anyway, thank you for asking!!! 😊

51/? preseries screencaps
In 267 AC, Tywin Lannister returned to the west to attend his father's funeral and set the westerlands in order, and King Aerys decided to accompany him. The king took his eight-year old son Rhaegar, Prince of Dragonstone, and more than half the court. For the better part of the next year, the Seven Kingdoms were ruled from Lannisport and Casterly Rock, where both the king and his Hand were in residence.
Queen Rhaella was left behind in King’s Landing. After suffering miscarriages in 263 and 264, Her Grace was once again pregnant. However, the Princess Shaena was stillborn, much to the queen’s sorrow.*
Pitiful and pitied by no one, why have I come to the ignominy of this wretched state, I who am queen of seven kingdoms, mother to the prince? My guts are torn from me, my child is carried off and removed from me. My babes sleep in dust, and their most unhappy mother is compelled to be irremediably tormented by the memory of the dead. One son remains to my solace, but Casterly Rock is long leagues away, and his father the King guards Rhaegar jealously from my affections. In all things the gods have turned cruel to me, adding sorrow to sorrow. [x]

Discussion of Targaryen court fashion below the cut.
*The description up above is not a direct quote. The information can be found in TWOIAF.
The “Pitiful and pitied by no one” speech is paraphrasing Eleanor of Aquitaine.
@bidonica drew me the most perfect drawing of Rhaella wearing clothing like this, but for a while I’ve wanted to manip an outfit that resembled what @bidonica drew, something that was close to my headcanons about what the fashions were in the Targaryen court during the reign of Aerys II. I didn’t want it to look like the show. I imagined high boned collars or ruffs, like the bony frills of a dragon or triceratops and lots of pleats. Pleats were a luxury that wasted a significant amount of fabric, indicating that the wearer was a person of wealth and power. (I know this is show!canon, but I like to think that Tywin’s red pleated velvet sash is a holdover from an earlier (Targaryen) era, 20 years out of style, because none of the other Lannisters wear anything pleated.)
I like to imagine that cloth-of-gold was in high demand during this time (before the rift between Aerys and Tywin widened considerably) to represent the significant Lannister influence at court. (Please pretend Rhaella’s dress is more than just yellow and that it uses a lot of cloth of gold. I tried.jpeg)
I wanted to incorporate lots of purple in Rhaella’s gown, both to match her eyes and because Dany favors the color in the books, to make that connection between mother and daughter. You can’t see them very well, but I added purple “amethysts” to Rhaella’s gown, and to the gold jewelry thing hanging down.
The other thing that I wanted to include in Rhaella’s outfit was the (asymmetrical) snowy white cloak / sash thing pinned / draped over one shoulder. Supposed to be reminiscent of a bride’s cloak, I wanted to invoke the Westerosi wedding ceremony, in which the bridegroom drapes the cloak of his protection around his bride’s shoulders. However, as you can see, there’s a sort of irony to the way Rhaella is wearing it. It’s not wrapped around Rhaella’s shoulders here, it’s pinned / attached to one shoulder to keep it from falling off, a silent yet very visible condemnation of Aerys’s abuse, his adultery, his absence during her pregnancy (contrast to Tywin being present when Joanna gave birth (and Jaime for Cersei)), his taking Rhaegar away etc. It’s worn sort of like a half-cape but it’s full length, making the use of the left hand impractical, another indicator of wealth and status, as a person who doesn’t need to lift or carry or do practical things because she has attendants and handmaids and servants to do all that stuff for her.
Also, I could not manip a pregnancy here without it looking like demonic possession, so please just pretend this is the day Aerys departs and Rhaella’s pregnancy is not showing yet in this picture, ok, thank. This took a loooong time in photoshop and was cobbled together from a lot of different pieces and you can’t even see the details. So if you want to see it larger, please go to this post and follow the links.

2021 Fic in Review
I was tagged by nobody but I saw people doing this and I thought it'd be fun to recap my writing for this year 😁
Tagging: @photogirl894 @moonstrider9904 @mathmusic8 @ct-crosshair @webtrinsic1122 @thecoffeelorian @mistr3ssquickly @maiseey @triplerexthreat
Total Number of Fics: 14
Total Wordcount: 42113 words
Fandoms: Star Wars (Rebels: 3; TCW: 2; TBB: 7), ASOIAF: 1, Arrow: 1
Most Popular Fic (by bookmarks): Rough Awakening (54 bookmarks)
Most Popular Fic (by kudos): Rough Awakening (233 kudos)
Favorite Fic: Uff! Hard to choose because I'm pretty proud of what I wrote this year but I'm going with An Explosive Situation. It's short but has everything I like: whump, a pinch of angst, and another of fluff for my Star Wars OTP, Kalluzeb. What else could I have asked for? 😆 Besides, I wrote it pretty fast for my writing speed lately, and it signaled the comeback of my muse, which had abandoned me for a long time.
Below the cut there is a month-by-month fic timeline (with Author's commentary).
JANUARY
Road to Lira San (SW Rebels, T, Kalluzeb, 3.5k, WIP)
Agent Kallus never imagined that the day he gets stranded on the Genosian moon, Bahryn, with the Resistance Captain Garazeb Orrelios is the day he starts a journey to redemption. The path is not easy, full of risks, but it might be worth it when happiness such as Alexsandr has never known is waiting for him at the end.
I have so many ideas, full arcs and all, for this story but my muse is a little b*tch that do whatever it wants and decided to focus on chapters way ahead of the ones I should be working on (like chapter 2 for example 😩) so that's why I haven't updated in almost a year. I'm honestly considering turning this into a series and posting the chapters done in an out-of-order fashion. It frustrates me that I can't continue sharing this story that's so dear to my heart.
JULY
Rescue on Ryloth (TBB, T, 670 words)
The rescue of the Syndullas in Ryloth go differently than it was planned.
This is another one I wrote so incredibly fast. The leak of the promo for episode 12 sent me into such a frenzy, that all I could do was write this. It was a little wishful thinking thrown into the mix as well, an idea that it didn't come true of the Batch rescuing Cross. So now, it's a fix-it 😐
Rough Awakening (TBB, T, 9.3k, WIP)
The Batch finally rips Crosshair away from the Empire's clutches, but things don't go so smoothly once he's de-chipped.
This started as a prequel to another fic I was working on where Crosshair was already back with the Batch. I wanted to do a one-shot or 2-part fic about the rescue and the aftermath but me, being me, things spiraled out of control and we're 4 chapters in (working on the 5th!!), and it's barely now when the chip is being removed. I have come up with so many ideas for this story that it has gotten a life on its own, so I decided to abandon the first one and see where this fic takes me.
AUGUST
Not a Star Wars fic 😆
Haunted as Mare9548 (Game of Thrones/aSoIaF, T, Braime, 1.9k words)
Jaime knocks on Brienne's door at an unholy hour of the night. (Piece for Jaime x Brienne Fic Exchange 2021)
OCTOBER
This is when I did my Star Wars X-tober Extravaganza where I fulfilled various prompts for whumptober, angstober, flufftober, and angstober. That's why this was my most productive month of the year 😁
An Explosive Situation (SW Rebels, T, Kalluzeb, 1.9k)
After a solo mission to the planet Dela goes south, Kallus finds himself in a tight spot. The Spectres go to his rescue but the actual saving turns out more complicated than expected.
On An Adventure (TCW/TBB, Gen, 713 words)
The fluffiest fic I've ever written 🥺🥰
On a rare stormless night, 99 and Omega go for a little adventure.
Tomorrow Is A Good Day For Someone Else to Die (TBB, T, 1.152 words)
The life of Crosshair and Tech in Kamino as cadets has never been easy.
Claiming the Soldier (TBB, Explicit/Grapefruit, Wrecker x reader, 919 words)
Minors do not interact / Underage begone
You and Wrecker hit a life-changing milestone in your relationship.
Seeing Red (TBB, T, 1097 words)
The Bad Batch goes on their first mission to the battlefront. Things take a sudden turn south.
We Don't Leave Our Own Behind (TBB, T, 1.4k words)
Hunter respects Crosshair's choice not to join the batch again even if it's a karking ass-stupid decision. And yet, love, loyalty, and a tad of guilt —okay, okay… a lot of guilt— don't let him make the same mistake he did before, abandoning his brother.
Or the one where the batch goes back for Crosshair after leaving him stranded on the landing platform in Kamino.
Help, I'm Alive (SW Rebels, T, 1.5k, WIP)
Ezra had imagined many times that he’d die in the heat of a battle against the Empire; he’s had several close calls already. But never in his wildest dreams, he foresaw that his death would come when a temple fell on top of him.
I promise that I'll finish it, but can't say when 😓
3 Long Days (TCW, T, 1.5k words)
When Ahsoka falls ill, Anakin doesn't leave her side.
You're Still There, I Know (TCW, T, Foxiyo, 2.1k words)
Riyo feels like she lost the man she loves. If only Fox would talk to her and explain why.
My first Foxiyo fic!! This ship is so cute that I couldn't stop myself from writing them 😊
_____
Aaaaaaand another no Star Wars fic
Queen of Lions as @green-arrows-of-karamel (Arrow, T, Olicity, 14.1k, Discontinued)
The Fates have never been kind to her or her race. When the Greek goddesses designate Oliver Queen as her mate, Felicity can't believe it. Three weeks is all she has to decide to mate with him. If Felicity refuses him, she will condemn Oliver to a cruel fate. And hers won't be pretty either.
This fic stayed in my WIP folder for over 4 years until I saw a post promoting Good Intentions WIPs fest, which is an opportunity for writers to publish and let go fics that will never be finished. I took the chance to unburden myself from this story very dear to my heart (because it's about the otp I rooted for years and also because it's a crossover with one of my favorite book series) and share it with my old fandom.

This isn't an ask... Just a note to tell you that I love your story, The "Shadows that sing". Your take on the characters is just perfect- it doesn't make Elain a pushover or a damsel in distress, it captures the essence of a woman slowly learning that she has the power to change her life. I especially liked the last chapter. Thank you for doing what you do, I know you're busy and that you're doing your best, but I look forward to the next update! <3
Wow, this was so lovely to read. Thank you so much for the compliments, and I’m so glad you love the story.
One reason I really love Elain is that she is not your typical fantasy heroine. Don’t get me wrong - I love Aelin, Feyre, Nesta and Bryce as much as the next person, but there’s something about the “badass female MC who is amazing at fighting and has snarky comebacks and always comes out on top” that doesn’t always resonate with me.
I love when feminine, underestimated characters get a chance to shine. It’s why I love Sansa from GOT/ASOIAF so much. She loves pretty dresses and balls and needlework, but she is a political mastermind and learns to use her strengths, and the weaknesses of others, to her advantage. I’ve tried to write Elain in a similar fashion, and truly think SJM has, too (and will continue to do so in the next ACOTAR book <3)
There are different kinds of heroes. Different kinds of bravery. Different kinds of strong, inspiring women. Who is to say that the MC of a romantasy novel can’t be a kind-hearted, flower-loving, forgiving, courageous, and once-mortal Fae? And who is to say that all of those attributes do not make her weak at all, but make her even stronger?
But I digress. Again, thank you so much for reading and for the kind words. I wish I could adequately express how much it means to me! But since I can’t, here’s a teaser from the next chapter, which I will most likely post in the next two weeks:
“It’s called Honesty Hour. You can ask anyone a question and they have to answer honestly. If they choose not to, then they have to drink!”
Across the room, he caught Elain’s eye. She looked away, biting down a grin. “Honesty Hour” sounded a lot like their Question for a Question game, only with drinking involved.
xoxo, dany

I don’t know.
I used to believe that Daenerys’ endgame was to fight the Others, and while I do believe that it is her destiny to fight them, I no longer believe it will be her end. You can look through my old metas and find that I once believed that Daenerys would sacrifice herself in the battle against the Others because Daenerys is very self sacrificial, she is very very selfless and very very compasionate. She puts herself at risk to protect total strangers. She freed thousands of slaves because she wanted to, even though in doing so kept her away from her dream of returing to Westeros. She gave Doreah the very last bit of water on the Dothraki sea to sooth her as she died. She thirsted and starved along side those who chose to follow her instead of taking up the remaining resources for herself because she was Khaleesi. She sacrificed her own happiness by marrying someone who she despised in order to keep peace in Meereen. The point I’m getting at is that Daenerys is extremely self sacrificial and extremely selflesss.
However, I’ve come to the conclusion that Daenerys sacrificing herself and then dying so that the Others are defeated just......... doesn’t fit her story or plot at all. From book one, her entire journey has been about protecting people and abolishing slavery. Of course, the Others murder people and enslave them for evil, so that does make sense. There is of course Azor Ahai prophecy that without a doubt hints to Daenerys,
There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him.
When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.
(Now I know that Jon and Bran are also potentially Azor Ahai, I don’t really want to get into that debate because it’s been debated on who is Azor Ahai, if it’s one person or multiple, on if it’s even relevant to present asoiaf, ect. I’m just bringing it up because I personally do believe that it points to Daenerys, and with that being said points to her battling against the Others in some fashion one way or another)
If we look at Daenerys, her plot has been about ruling, abolishing slavery and protecting people. Her story is very political, while say Jons story is very magical. Now I know that sounds crazy. Daenerys, the girl who hatched and rides dragons is the political story whilst Jons, the boy who is a secret lost prince and Lord Commander is the magical story. To me though it is. Jons plot is also about protecting people, but it’s about protecting people from the Great Others, not slavers. He attempts to protect those beyond the wall because he knows that if he doesn’t succeed in allowing them past the wall, they will all die and become members of the Others army.
Anyways, as I’ve stated above, to me Danys story is about protecting people from those who would wish to harm them, abolishing slavery and ruling. Now, her sacrificing herself to defeat the Great Others doesn’t make much sense considering she’s not the main POV who the entire time has dealt with the Great Others. Her entire POV has been about abolishing and battling slavers.
Also, the ending is supposed to be bittersweet. Daenerys sacrificing herself in the Battle against the Others isn’t bittersweet for her. It’s a tragedy.
Daenerys was born an orphan and without a family. Her father was murdered, her mother died bringing her into the world, her eldest brother was slain in war, her good sister was butchered, her niece was stabbed a dozen times and her nephew has his skull bashed in. Daenerys has nothing but a brother who viewed and used her as nothing but a pawn. She has a short time of happiness growing up in an unknown location in Braavos, where she has Ser Willem Darry in the house with the red door and lemon tree, but he dies and assasins are sent after her and Viserys, forcing them to leave the house with the red door and flee on foot into the streets. She starves, she thirsts, she lives in mud and in filth and in fear, being too young to comprehend why this is happening, why she’s being hunted, why she was taken from what she viewed as her home, why her brother is being so cruel. Illyio takes them in, and strikes a deal with a war lord Dothraki Khal to marry Daenerys off to him in exchange for his army. She’s sold and is nothing more than a glorified bed slave for him. She grows to love him out of pure survival and out of stock holm syndrome. Viserys sentences himself to death by bringing weapons into the Vaes Dothrak, holding a sword to her pregnant belly and threatening to cut her unborn child from her womb, rather she’d plead for his life or not he had already been sentenced. She gets pregnant, but eventually loses her husband and also her baby in a horrific birth laced with dark blood magic. She has power as a Khaleesi, but still has less authority than her husband even as he takes his last breaths. She frees the slaves that made up the khalassar that stayed with her after her husband died, and some leave her, but those who stayed at now her people who chose her and who she must protect. She suffers with them in the Red Waste, has to watch as those same people starve and die. Flash forward and she’s gained the Unsullied and freed all 8,000 men. She’s conquered Meereen and freed all of those slaves as well. That happiness is also short lived as the slavers of course are not happy that they no longer have slaves, and form the Sons of the Harpy. She has to marry a man she loathes because it’s either marriage or war, and she wants to keep her people safe. All moments with Daario are a young girl in love but he is not kingly type and she knows it.
There is no doubt that every character / family in a song of ice and fire has suffered. This isn’t a ‘Daenerys has suffered the most’ post, because honestly the whole debate on who has suffered most is tiring and annoying. This is a post pointing out that Daenerys has had very few short lived moments of happiness, security and love before it was snatched away from her one way or another.
For her story to end in such a way that really doesn’t make sense for her plot, and for her to die in such a fashion that doesn’t even relate to her characters goals isn’t bittersweet. For this young girl who’s overcame being orphaned, starved, abused, raped, enslaved and is one of the only characters who cares about the people and the minorities of the world to die isn’t bittersweet. For this young girl to die by sacrificing herself so that those who grew up privileged in every sense of the word can live is not bittersweet. For her to die battling an enemy that her story does not resolve around is not bittersweet. For her to die so that she defeats the enemies of others, for them to use all her resources for their own gain and survival is not bittersweet. For her characters entire purpose of the story to be her suffering time and time again, for her accomplishments and hard work to be brushed off and for her to pave the way for others is not bittersweet.
That’s a tragedy.
I’m talking in circles because I’m really quite terrible at expressing my thoughts, and also Daenerys if you didn’t know, means a lot to me, so I’m also emotional about this topic. I hope some of this makes sense, because honestly if this is where her story is going then what is the point of her character? What was the point of creating her, if her endgame is to just defeat others enemies and then die so that those who don’t even care for her live? What was the point of her abolishing slavery and protecting those who cannot protect themselves if her endgame doesn’t remotely revolve around doing just that? Why create her if her endgame is to clean out others enemies? What was the point of her overcoming all that suffering and abuse if her endgame is just more suffering and abuse? I’m a bitter Dany stan if you couldn’t tell, and if this is where GRRM is taking her then he can keep the end to himself because I don’t want it.
Anyways, I’m tired and I just want her to live and be happy and accomplish her goal of protecting others who can’t protect themselves. Is that too much to ask for?
