I'd like to share a significant mental-emotional-mindset win with you 🙏🏻 You know how we all *know* we are supposed to place high importance on multiple lifestyle aspects for robust health? Food, sleep, exercise, stress management, play, etc? And that overworking/obsession with productivity is extremely harmful? I preach all this loudly and often - food is not the cure for everything and we MUST take time to relax and rest and have fun. And I absolutely do practice what I preach, but up until very recently my MIND has tried to lie to me and tell me that these things don't deserve priority above working. One example: that going to yoga classes 5 days a week was "wasting" time that I could be "productive" instead. And I have noticed it happening (which is all #mindfulness really is: noticing and being aware of the present moment) and then let it pass to leave me to my practice. I have been experiencing this since I joined my yoga studio 14 months ago, feeling a twinge of guilt for doing something for ME so many hours a week that doesn't directly earn me any money. But my mind has FINALLY gotten the message. Today I went to an 8:30AM #astangayoga class and I finally didn't have to listen to lies. I finished class and felt so accomplished! It was such an odd feeling. Morning classes are typically the worst for this since 7-11am (Stomach & Spleen time in #chinesemedicine) is my prime brainy 🧠 productivity time and if I'm not taking full advantage at a computer I feel like I'm wasting time and losing money. But not today, finally! My point is that with PRACTICE we can change the tape that plays in our minds, do complete 180s with how we speak to and think about ourselves. Change habits. All it takes is the intention and mindful steps forward each time you are challenged. Can you relate? Does your mind try to tell you lies about things you know are healthy?
