something really sweet happened today and i wanted to share!
so in my college (it's a 2 years course), the 1st year students of the club im in threw us a farewell party, and we were completely blown away! they all had prepared speeches for us and got us personalized gifts, it was all so sweet i almost cried! and since im also one of the heads of the club, i felt so proud and emotional!
last year, we had the worst toxic seniors to the point that i had mental breakdowns because of them, and had vowed to create a safe environment for the new students and im really happy we could do that 🥹

If it’s not too much trouble, could you do a platonic team star x team star member!reader who became a dragon type specialist squad leader and joined because they got bullied for being a fan of other famous dragon type users like Lance and Raihan?
(Sorry if this is too specific)
Oh no worries, I like specific so it's all good!
..........
"I'm gonna be just like them one day.." Sighing dreamily, you sat down at the cafeteria table, watching a video on your rotomphone while chowing down breakfast.
It was footage of a fierce Pokémon battle in Galar--a showdown between two of your idols, who were among the most famous dragon trainers of all time: Lance and Raihan.
Of course, you looked up to many other dragon type users in Paldea, but these two in particular kickstarted your dreams of becoming one yourself, inspired by their interviews and fierce determination.
You also hoped to meet them and have a battle, although that was a little too farfetched for you right now..
Yet you didn't let that discourage you from forming your own dragon team, using your studies at Uva/Naranja Academy to teach them all the best moves and remember type matchups.
Tatsugiri was your main partner, and when combined with your Dondozo..it was an absolute powerhouse in double-battles--albeit this academy usually focused on the traditional single battles.
You were also currently raising a Drakalok, Cyclizar, Arctibax, and Sliggoo, and you cherished all of them dearly. Tatsugiri was a bit of an attention hog at times, though, and always wanted to stay out of its ball and on your shoulder.
You didn't mind it, of course. Whether you're heading to class or to a tournament where dragon trainers were going to participate, you always went together.
Life was perfect.
Except for-
"Still prattling on about being the next famous dragon gym leader, huh?"
-one of your bullies already ruining your day before it could even begin.
For some reason..a few kids at the academy really had it out for you simply because you admired famous dragon trainers. You didn't think there was anything wrong with looking up to your idols. But apparently they thought you were being too "obnoxious" about it and sought to make your life utterly miserable.
It only got worse when you spoke up about it to a teacher, as that bully got off with nothing but a slap on the wrist--that being to train their Pokémon as "punishment".
By sheer convenience, they had ice and fairy types. And that teacher only gave them the chance to make their team stronger and further intimidate you...to the point where you're afraid to go outside, fearing they'll drag you into a battle.
You've kept silent since, hoping to avoid them at all costs and try to keep your grades up. But unfortunately, Arceus wasn't smiling upon you today...and quite frankly, you were tired.
Huffing, you switched off your phone and scowled up at the bully. "Still following me around campus, huh?" You mocked, with Tatsugiri hopping on the table and mimicking your expression. "That's kinda creepy if you ask me."
"Well those stupid fangs of yours are creeping everyone out." They sneered, pointing out your sharp teeth. "Halloween is over, y'know."
"I've already told you..these are canines, and they are real."
"Yeah? More like real freaky."
"Look, just leave me alone before you anger Tatsugiri." You warned, watching as their gaze shifted to your ace, falling silent for a moment or two...
Before erupting into laughter. "Oh wow, I'm soooooo scared of your stupid sushi roll! What ever will I do??" They shook their head. "If you want my advice, dump this thing and get yourself a real dragon. Like a Charizard or-"
"You don't get to decide WHO I can have as a partner!!!" Your hands slammed onto the table as you stood up, fists clenched with anger. Even though you could see people's heads turning in your peripheral vision, you didn't care. "Tatsugiri may not look it, but it's more powerful than you'll ever know! You don't know our bond, so just back off already!!"
"Oooooh, I didn't know you knew Outrage..better not hit yourself in confusion." They snickered.
"...why are you like this?" With slumped shoulders, you frowned at them. "Why do you keep tormenting me day after day?! I've done nothing to you. Is it a crime to admire my heroes? To wanna be like them?"
"No, but you'd be an embarrassment to every future dragon tamer. I mean who'd wanna see a pathetic thing like that in the Elite Four? Or on a Champion's team? Raihan and Lance would laugh in your face and crush you if they saw-"
"STOP IT!!" You finally snapped, hitting the table again before taking out one of your pokeballs. "Do you want a battle?! Is that what you want?!! Then you'll get it-!!"
"[Y/n], what is the meaning of this?"
Hearing the voice of the director made all the color drain from your face. The bully just smirked as you slowly turned to Harrington, seeing him looking at you with a frown.
"This is the second disturbance you've caused in this same area. You know battles aren't permitted inside the academy."
It's only then did you realize everybody in the cafeteria was staring..and you shrunk back in embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry, Director. I didn't mean to shout. They were just-"
But when you tried to point out the bully, they were gone.
How convenient.
"From how it looks..you were intimidating them. And you should also know we have a zero tolerance policy for such behavior."
"But I wasn't..they-!" You tried in vain to defend yourself, yet the look on Harrington's face told you he didn't wanna hear any of it.
"We can discuss this further in my office. Return your Tatsugiri to its pokeball and follow me, if you will."
"....yes, sir." Defeated, you gathered your things and put Tatsugiri back into the pokeball (much to its dismay), before commencing the long walk of shame to the director's office.
Maybe he will believe you.
.......
"He didn't believe me either. What's the point of "standing up for myself" if I'm just gonna get in trouble?! What's the point if they're always gonna get away with it while I face suspension?!"
"Suu.."
"I know I kinda let myself go back there, but...th-they kept pushing me and pushing me! Why couldn't he understand that? Why doesn't anyone here understand-?!"
"Tasu!"
Calming yourself down a little, you looked to Tatsugiri, who sat on your bed and looked up at you with sad eyes, wishing you weren't being so harsh on yourself.
"....well, I know you understand me, buddy." You quietly sighed and sat down, bringing it into your hands as it nuzzled your cheek. Immediately your shoulders relaxed. "I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm just...it's been frustrating. But I swear I'll never replace you for any other dragon. Not even for a shiny Charizard."
"Yip-yip?!" It cried out.
"Believe me! I won't." You chuckled, although you stopped as you thought over this morning's events...
And suddenly you felt sick to your stomach.
Just thinking about going to your afternoon class today made you feel ill, wondering who was going to harass you two next...and if you'll be able to do anything about it without getting into trouble with the director.
Now that you've gotten your second strike, you had to be careful not to lash out like that again.
But what else were you supposed to do?
Let them continue to bully you around and make your poor partner feel absolutely worthless? How was that fair to either of you?
At this point, you've ran out of adults in this academy to talk to...besides the nurse, of course, although she seemed more adept at healing Pokémon than counseling students.
Even if she was willing to listen, you doubt anything would change.
Nobody here took your side or could possibly understand what you were going through-
"Roto-to-to~"
Your rotomphone started ringing, displaying an unknown caller ID. Normally you'd ignore it, although Tatsugiri had a better idea and decided to slap the screen with its fin, answering it.
"Tatsu!" You grumbled, pulling it away from your phone before addressing the stranger, feeling embarrassed. "Sorry! My Pokémon-"
"Greetings, am I speaking to [y/n]?"
".....uh...yeah?" Your eyebrows furrowed with confusion, not expecting to hear a distorted voice on the other end of the line. "And who am I speaking to exactly?"
"My name is Cassiopeia. Leader of Team Star."
"Team Star?" You blinked, remembering all of the rumors you've heard about this organization. They were a small group of kids who got bad grades, skipped school often...and sometimes harassed others into joining them or pulled pranks on teachers.
Why would their leader contact you?
Or better yet...how did they even get ahold of your number?
"Correct. We've been watching you for some time, and we see your pain. It must feel awful...being pushed around and intimidated all because you admire some famous trainers. And when you finally have the courage to defend yourself and your Pokémon...suddenly you're the bad guy? It's so unfair."
"How do you.....l-look, um..Cassiopeia. I got a lot going on right now." You mumbled, hoping to end this conversation quickly. "I'm facing suspension if I cause one more scene, so I don't think I should be talking to delinquents like-"
"That is a lie. Team Star isn't a group of delinquents. We're so much more than that." They interrupted you, sounding a bit annoyed. "The truth is that WE are the victims. We who were shamed and excluded for the crime of being ourselves. The system has failed us, [y/n], and we formed this group as a way to stand up and stand out."
"...ah, I see." Now you were growing a bit more understanding and sympathetic towards them. You always had a feeling that your classmates overexaggerated how "evil" this team really was, making comparisons to Team Rocket and organizations that were legitimately evil and criminal.
But obviously, you never put your two cents in. You were already getting bullied enough just for saying Lance and Raihan are cool dragon trainers you wished to meet.
You were already getting bullied enough just for admiring some famous dragon trainers.
"So...obviously you're trying to sell me something." You huffed, kicking your feet up on the desk. "You want me to join your team as one of your goons-?"
"Oh no. I actually have something much better in mind." Cassiopeia cut in once more. "We've seen how you battle with dragon types. Very impressive, I must say. You never back down from a challenge. You're fierce, protective..and you demonstrate incredible leadership."
That felt flattering to hear, considering all the times you've gotten criticized for your battling techniques during Ms. Dendra's class.
Recently, she actually made you apologize to your classmate, whose Pokémon was actively bullying yours and provoked it into using a powerful move that knocked it out in one hit.
Why was that such a problem?
Because you weren't supposed to be battling, but the bully kept pushing you into one--and of course, Ms. Dendra didn't see that part.
Only the part where you broke the "No-OHKO" rule she had written into her lesson plan for that day.
Now you were struggling to get your grades back up in battle strategies, which was hard since you gained a reputation as being "too aggressive"..when in reality you were just so afraid and fed up that no one would listen to you.
So hearing this complete stranger give you praise felt genuinely good.
"Oh! Ah...thank you." You decided to bite the bullet. "So what's your offer?"
"We believe you're a good fit to be a squad leader. We have one more slot available. Interested?"
Your heart immediately jumped at the opportunity, although part of you was still holding back.....wondering if it was worth getting mixed-up with people like Cassiopeia and Team Star's revered leaders.
This could very well throw away your entire future and your goals of becoming the next dragon type gym leader. You could be expelled for sure, or even blacklisted from partaking in tournaments.
But at the same time, you were so tired of living in fear and dealing with all of this alone.
Why should you have to? That's setting a terrible example for your Pokémon--they shouldn't have to see their trainer living like that. You had to be brave and stronger, but that was almost impossible if you were just going to suffer repercussions for trying.
Cassiopeia took your silence as hesitation. "I know this is a lot to think about. But trust me, [y/n]. Team Star can do more for you than the Academy ever did. You'll get to train without limits. Your name will be known by all, and nobody will mock you or Tatsugiri ever again. That is what you want, isn't it? To grow stronger together? To stand up against those who wronged you?"
Hearing them mention your partner made you look to the Mimicry Pokemon in your lap. Seeing the way they put their fin on your hand and gave you a small nod ultimately solidified your answer.
You weren't turning back now.
"We can discuss this tomorrow if you'd like-"
"No, I made up my mind. I'll take it. When do I start?"
..........
"Looking sharp as always, Revavroom."
With a sharp-toothed grin, you gently patted the head of your Starmobile--specifically the Revavroom attached to it, as it rumbled in happiness.
Then you hopped onto the vehicle, climbing up to the stage where you could survey the rest of your camp, observing your goons hanging out by the vending machines and driving around on their Cyclizars.
This was the Achird Squad base stationed at Casseroya Lake, and for about a year or so...you've also called it home.
The location was perfect for a mighty dragon leader such as yourself, allowing you to keep watch over the Tatsugiri and Dratini herds you'd see in the waters from time to time.
It was far better than the cramped dorms of the Academy. They would never have let your dragons roam free like Dragapult, Baxcalibur, and all the rest were doing right now..
Ever since joining Team Star, you never looked back and never regretted your decision. You became fast friends with the other bosses, with Atticus even designing some cool armor plates for your outfit that resembled a Kommo-o's scales.
Although things have been...rather weird as of late.
Especially since it was the anniversary of the incident.
Back at the Academy, you and all of the leaders came together with the ultimate to confront your bullies once and for all. It was meant to finally settle who was the strongest, and how you were sick of being pushed around.
Least to say..the tables have turned, and everyone knew your names.
The bullies ended up running scared, barely putting up a fight themselves before scrambling to heal and recall their Pokémon.
You felt pretty good about it, especially when you knocked out that jerk who made fun of your teeth and admiration for dragon trainers in one fell swoop.
But then you looked around and saw everyone's scared faces. Many were recording the battles, spreading them all over social media, or shielding their own Pokémon from potential harm--even though you never intended to hurt them whatsoever.
It turned into a huge scandal over who was in the right or wrong, although in the end your bullies played the victims, dropped out of school, and ended up being listened to the most.
They made you out to be monsters who just attacked them for no reason..and it almost got you all expelled.
However, Cassiopeia took the blame, and while you were pardoned, Harrington, the deputy director (who tried erasing all records of the scandal and bullying to "preserve" the Academy's image), and many teachers left, guilty that they didn't do more to prevent this.
It would have been a bittersweet victory for Team Star---had your leader not also vanished, their last message being a call for the organization to disband.
To this day, none of you understood why they'd do that...or why they think you'd ever wanna leave this team and go back to your studies.
How could you after the faculty messed up this badly?
How could you after they still sided with the bullies?
How could you after they tried to cover up what really happened?
In the end, you all promised to stick together, abiding by your codes and living out on the squad bases. You occasionally met up for discussions and battle plans, although you always held onto hope that if the team kept going long enough....Cassiopeia might come back.
You've tried contacting them through various means, yet none of your Rotoms could retrace their calls nor social media posts. Everything was gone.
As though they wanted you all to forget ever meeting them..
It never made sense to you, considering you could really use a leader back then.
But what's done is done, and you winded up assuming a de factor leader position, given your team was the strongest out of all of theirs. Of course, Ortega was less-than-pleased about holding a vote on it, but you won the majority and he eventually got over it.
Now you've been training your Pokémon more frequently, and only because there's something called "Operation: Starfall" going around--and apparently some Paldean trainer was going around tackling each base with the hope of claiming their badges.
One of the codes was that being defeated in battle meant surrendering it, and that means...
Someone was dead set on shutting down Team Star for good.
But you wouldn't let them. The other bosses were your friends, family..and you'll be damned if you lost them, too.
"Boss! The others are comin' in!" You heard one of the grunts shout, and you looked towards the horizon in surprise.
She wasn't kidding.
Ortega, Mela, Eri, Giacomo, and Atticus were at your base's entrance, waiting for you. Although you were eager to see them after being occupied with training for so long...it didn't concern you that all of them chose to show up at once.
But you refused to show any sort of alarm, huffing as you jumped off the stage, mounting your partner Cyclizar. "Let's ride!" You barked, allowing it to sprint towards the group at full speed.
Your cape fluttered in the wind as it leaped across a small stream, all while Tatsugiri--who was resting in a small basket attached to it--held on for dear life.
Upon arriving, the bosses stopped their chatter and turned as you slowed down, stepping off Cyclizar. You gave it a small pat on the head, assuring that it could rest, before looking at the group.
"So we meet again...what's with the sour faces?" Your eyebrows furrowed at their expressions. When nobody was immediately speaking up, you huffed. "Come on, out with it. You can't come all this way to my base just assume I can read your minds-"
"We come before thee bearing..a warning." Atticus muttered, bowing his head in shame. "The student you've spoken of hath proven to be quite the adversary."
"Is that so? Surely they haven't claimed all of your badges, have they?"
"........"
"Why is no one talking-?"
"Because we got our asses handed to us." Mela bluntly stated, clenching her fists. "We got absolutely smoked...and now you're the only one left."
Your eyes widened in shock and horror, although you didn't get the chance to respond as Ortega cut you off.
"Now before you freak out on us all..we did try our best. We did everything you and Cassiopeia taught us. But this kid....they're good. Almost too good. And this guy named Clive was helping them out the whole time, getting under our skin and everything...."
"Well I wouldn't say that." Eri looked at the fairy trainer, crossing her arms over her chest as she frowned. "He wanted to know where we're coming from and why we're doing all of this."
"...and you just told him?"
You could see everyone tense up, and you just scowled, wondering why they would do this.
"What makes you all think he would care...or why anybody from that academy would care about us now?" Your eyebrows furrowed as Tatsugiri sat on your shoulder, mimicking your expression. "Nobody cared when they hurt us...nobody cared when we were literally begging for help. Look, I know keeping this group together was hard, but it's no excuse to-"
"Honestly...I'm kinda tired of this charade. At least someone's willin' to listen to us now.." Giacomo remarked, frowning a little bit. "But here's the lowdown, [y/n]: we got beaten into the dirt and followed our code, so now we're here to give ya a little heads up before this kid comes after you next. We're sorry. But we tried."
"And we still don't know who's really behind this sting operation.." Mela grumbled, shaking her head in worry. "Someone wants to shut us down for good, and it's definitely not either of those new students. They're just being used to carry out the dirty work."
"I might have a good idea on who it is...and I swear, they'll answer for this." You bared your teeth. "But I'll save my dragon rage for this trainer. Wherever they are, whatever they're doing...I hope they know I'm ready. Because I'm gonna defend Team Star...defend us....until my last breath."
"Su! Su!!" Tatsugiri trilled in agreement, nuzzling your cheek, to which you couldn't help but smile a little bit.
"Well whatever happens next, you have our full support, [y/n]." Eri smiled as she patted your shoulder. "Badge or no badge, we stand behind you."
Everyone else chimed in with agreements, smiles on all of their faces as well--although Atticus' wasn't immediately noticeable, you could see it in his eyes.
Knowing this group still cared about you and believed in your battling skills made all the tension leave your shoulders.
"Thank you, my friends. Hasta la vistar ~☆"
""""Hasta la vistar, and good luck, [y/n]!! ~☆""""

God these are live thoughts about this but Tazercrafts dynamic today. Their undoubted attachment to each other fucking hurt today.
Let's see how long this gets.
So first of all its definitely obvious that both still carry wounds from the prison, there's no doubt about it and while Mike definitely showed that a lot more over the last weeks we all kinda picked up on Pac not being okay, on how he was doing his best to move on for Mike. To stay sane for Mike. to ground him when his intrusive thoughts got bad or when he woke up from nightmares after seeing Walter Bob.
We all could see through his facade even if it was just based on instincts and small actions and words he said during the beginning, we knew he wasn't fully okay but no one else did cause above all else this dude is an incredibly talented liar if he has a reason and goal for it.
Now why do I bring that up?. Because we saw him express not being okay today! Mike saw him not being okay today for the first time since they escaped cause even if their minds are melded together by a bond that goes beyond words they're able to keep secrets from each other, and with his own emotions being a bubbling mess there was no way Mike could've noticed that a lot of those were also Pacs.
We saw it with how he got trapped, how he was panicked beyond believe and I think that's the first time Mike noticed that Pac is still very much not okay, because Mike was calm. He noticed Pac be so close to a panic attack to something that usually wouldn't bother him so his mind realized there that Pac was also still hurting, that Pac also needed help just like he did to calm down. While Pac helped him cool his boiling anger, Mike realized he needed to help Pac with his drowning anxiety. That's why his calm response to calm Pac and tell him he'll be okay hurt so much.
It was Mike first realizing Pac needed him too, especially now that they went back there.
The next was when the code attacked, both were so. Helpless. Obviously in typical Pac behavior he ran towards Richas, the ever selfless Pac throwing himself infront of his son like he does during any threat. Which is honestly a scary trait of him if I think about it too deeply (I swear this dude needs therapy but that's a whole other box I'd have to open) and the code zoned in on him. Teasingly hitting him while again, Pacs anxiety bubbled in his throat as he desperately called out for Mike. And Mike again, was helpless staring at his best friend, his souldbound because he couldn't help. He couldn't hit it no matter how much he tried, so he tried so hard to calm Pac but you could tell that this time even Mike was cracking at the seams. Pacs fear and pain meddling through their connection and filling his brain that when the Pearl teleport hit them he passed out on the spot. While Pac kept standing just through sheer adrenaline and blood loss fueling him alone.
This is also the first time forever got to see Pac panic, his constant repeating of words being the worst show of his anxiety we've had so far.
And when Mike finally came back to, and he and Pac could breathe to explain. But Pac vanished, ripped from the reality that surrounded them while Forever, Richas and Mike could do nothing but watch as his vanishing left the faintest purple particles behind, proving that he didn't do this on his own.
Now...I'd like to think that Mike logging off was a connection of multiple things, his hands reacted faster than his mind could comprehend so while Pac got transported through nothingness only to be dropped in ice cold water Mike teleported home.
And then he broke.
There's no doubt that Pac and Mike's minds are tied together, like I've said before they'll always be 2 hearts and 1 soul for me as they're soulbound since childhood. Destined to find each other and stay together till the end of time. So when Pac got teleported Mike could feel the fuzz of the forced teleportation in his own mind, could feel the ice cold water chill him down to the bone knowing that for Pac that feeling was a thousand times worse. And I think the thing that did it, that hit him the hardest was feeling his soulbound snap.
To feel the connection that was usually constantly flowing go dead silent. To feel part of his soul rip apart. To feel part of himself go dull and fade as he could do nothing but hope that this wasn't the end. That he would be able to call out to his partner in crime again and receive a response rather the static that screamed at him now whenever he tried to tap into their connection.
The silence was deafening for Mike, the echos of Pacs voice shouting through his brain as he could nothing but stand there and watch. Stand there and feel as his other half vanished into nothingness.
So his mind shut off, white noise flooding his mind as he fell unconscious and this time having no one by his side. His body laying safe in the arena they built together.
And I think deep down he knows what he'll wake up to, an empty arena. No one looking after him as much as he looks after them. A voice that usually filled his mind with a constant flow of conversation being gone. All while he has to desperately try and rebuild the part of himself that he lost. Just waiting and hoping that this isn't the last time he saw him, that his mind can take this hit better than when they took Walter Bob cause this time he has to be strong. Just like Pac has been for him since their escape. He has to hope and wait and try to find Pac.
Because in Mike's mind, in their shared soul Tazer was now offline.
Leaving Craft alone.

Jouno x Reader
Tumblr media
"Please stop embarrassing yourself, if not for yourself then for me."
Scenario - Jouno gives you tampons when you forget to bring some to work because let's not lie to ourselves, he kinda looks like one...
The work day started off as normal as it could be, being a part of the hunting dogs.
There were no big missions set out for anyone, so today was a fun day that involved torturing the prisoners kept in headquarters until one of them breaks. One which involved many different methods, all of which were violent.
Well, Jouno decided this was a 'fun' day. You had decided to tag alongside him as it was either that or paperwork. You could leave the latter for someone else, like Tachihara.
He could take one for the team, as you were not going to give up spending some alone time with Jouno.
Although as you walked toward the holding cells, you couldn't help but feel dread. Today was supposed to be some bonding time for you and your work crush, but right now you only felt the need to go to the bathroom and cry.
You knew your period was coming up soon, but why today? Of all days? This was one of the worst-case scenarios, seeing as this was what you could consider a 'work date' with Jouno. The closest you could get at least, seeing as neither of you had no social life outside of work.
What was also worse? You didn't have a tampon on you. Usually, you would keep some in your pockets but you didn't prepare for today. Your pockets were instead filled with half-eaten crackers and salt packets.
You tried to quietly fumble around your pockets, hoping the man wouldn't notice. He had heightened senses so what he knew was a mystery to you, but hopefully, he would ignore you checking every single pocket 3 times over for a goddamn tampon. It was frustrating, as you only needed one just so you could have a fun day with him.
You sighed softly as all you managed to find instead was a rolled up receipt.
"Did you lose something? You're being annoying."
Jouno stopped and turned towards you, furrowing his brows. He noticed, and with his hands in his pockets, was going to really have a sit-down conversation about this.
"Um...nothing important. I'm just checking for something." You felt your cheeks go red as you looked away, feeling like he was burning you.
Jouno scoffed.
"You're a horrible liar y/n."
You stayed silent, hoping maybe you could outlast him. He stayed, absorbing your presence as if you were guilty of a horrible crime.
He started rummaging around his own pockets though, which surprised you. He pulled something out, hidden in his clasped hand.
"Take it."
You took his hand, where lo and behold, there was a tampon in its glorious bright pink packaging. You quickly shoved it in your pockets as that shit was embarrassing. You blushed, looking at the ground.
"Um...thank you."
Jouno just nodded, walking forward on the pathway.
"Come prepared next time so you don't embarrass yourself."
Even though he sounded gruff, you could tell there was no malice in his statement. You smiled. Then you stopped.
"How'd you know?" There was a creeping horror in your body as you felt something settle in your stomach. How far did his senses really go if he knew about this and came prepared?
Jouno kept walking, picking up the pace a little as the conversation agitated him. You had to speedwalk to catch up to him, as he was running away from the conversation topic.
You really wanted to press it further, but you were pressed for time as you saw the bathrooms up ahead.
Sorry this is short and poorly written LOL I wrote this after taking a nap. Anyway rip Jouno and his senses this thought never leaves me tbh. Same with being called a bloodhound...

Sorry if this is weird to ask you but with the talk of queens (abt them being treated lesser and weirdly in general, which I totally agree with) I was hoping to get some input on an idea for my own rewrite.
Reading the books, I just kept asking myself "Why should they have to be shipped into a den for six months to care for them all on their own when theres tons of cats, especially their mates, who can and should be helping so that they didn't have to drop everything else abt their lives and hobbies for so long just because they had kids? Why is it that she loses so much about herself but her mate can stay a warrior and have nothing to do with parenting and that's okay? How come being a mother is treated like a statement of inability to be in power? (Bluestar and Leafstar, for example). Why does she lose her "warriorhood" like that?"
It's not just that they're treated like their stupid and only thinking about their kids for me, it's also the fact the erins treat parenting like queens (women) are the only ones who can/will/should be involved in parenting. It's unfair to both them and toms, and honestly, to me, it makes more sense for parenting to be communal, much like hunting and patrolling responsibilities are shared. With of course parents still playing a big part.
Essentially, my idea is to just abolish it being a whole job thing like that in my rewrite and have it be a shares responsibilty between everyone (but their parents most importantly). Queens ofc would still get "leave" from other duties while recovering and for nursing, but they don't have that expectation to be the kittens' only caretaker for so long, and their mate(s) would have just as much expectation to be involved as compared to the lack of any expectations of paternal and other-cat-given care in canon.
Oh, and much like the other shared duties that the Clan has, not everyone has to be involved if they don't want to or they just arent good at it. Some cats do more patrolling, some do more hunting, some do more healing (In my thing its not exclusive to a seer), etc, and some do more childcare. It's that simple. But if you choose to have kids then your gonna be involved unless you just aren't a good parent (ex: Rainflower). I think it makes more sense being communal when a big part of the Clans, to me at least, is community, loyalty, and the bonds that keep it together, and that needs to be formed and what better way then to let the kittens learn they can rely on their Clanmates young, and know that they are just as worthy of trust, love, and loyalty as their parents/queen?
And it's not that I see anything wrong with the role of a queen and parenting, promise, I just think it's unfair the expectations always fall on them, and that the erins write fathers like they have no place being fathers in the first place. Also outside of my irritation I just rlly like the idea of the whole clan taking part in raising, playing with, and educating the kittens idk it's just always been cute to me. And like I mentioned before, there are cats who play roles like a perma-queen, and there's nothing wrong with that.
But yeah I just kinda wanted to know if this rlly makes any sense at all/if it's fair 😭 sorry if it's uncomfortable or anything like that
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL!!!
this is a BIG reason as to why I added the Caretaker role to RoC as well! Caretakers take on that communal helper role in taking care of kits (as well as the rest of the clan). Queens and their mates should both equally share in the parenting role, and should also get help from others in the clan. also cats literally do this. they communally help in caring for kittens!
so ya! I love your idea of the whole clan helping with caring for the kits! it is just SO much better than the way canon does it.

im gonma make bride of discord relevant againt i sweer
anybody else remember bride of discord (and daughter of discord) by that disneyfanaticbunchofnumbers on youtube? yeah i freaking loved it as a kid. still do now honestly, it was honestly one of the cornerstones of my childhood and it's my favorite thing to listen to while i work. i call it my soap opera.
that being said 90% of the morals are AWFUL holy shit. i still appreciate it because it's heartwarming as a passion project and comparably more mature piece of fanwork considering the my little pony fandom at the time; but the toxicity between discord and fluttershy? the homophobic undertones in the sequel?? the treatment of rarity as a character??? THE APPLESPIKE??????
that shit has GOT to GO. so im writing a fix-it-fic for my own self indulgence lmao. i'll be posting my progress and some tidbits here, but i'm not even halfway done with transcripting the episodes and planning out my changes, so it'll be a long while before the final drafts are ready to post. when they are, they'll be posted on archive of our own, but until then, everyone and anyone is more than welcome to offer changes that they would like made, or factors of the story they'd like to be kept. theres no guarantees that they'll be included, but it's still so fun talking about this thing with other people, and it's always good to engage with others in this phase of the process. below is a list of major to minor notes i've already got in mind.
I want to keep the serious tone of the story. By far I think the thing that kept me attached to this series for so long is how the mood differs from so much of the fandom back then. the stakes in the beginning were legitimately high, the conflict took itself seriously, and the production quality was through the roof. this is the audiodrama's hallmark, it's iconic and must be kept in mind when contemplating changes.
Many smaller changes must be made to the Fluttercord plot in order to make it healthier and more natural: the infantilization of fluttershy, discord's overbearingness and harrassment, literally nearly all of episode 9. red flags. i think the biggest issue is that the character arcs are based more on shipping and tropes than the actual characters. there's nothing wrong with this in moderation, but in this case, the relationship is unbearably toxic. the arcs in the rewrite will be a lot more character-focused.
Instead of applejack and spike being the secondary romance, i'm going to make it applejack and rarity. yes i do ship rarijack, but this decision was primarily made in order to get two birds with one stone with applejack and rarity's depictions in the series and its sequel. free my girl rarity and leave my boy spike alone :(
Take pinkie pie more seriously as a character. this isn't just a problem with BOD but also the actual show FIM. she just gets annoying sometimes and her lack of depth really irked me in BOD.
GET RAINBOW DASH AWAYYYY FROM SOREN GET THAT OUT OF HERE
i feel like fluttershy's "tragic" backstory explaining her hesitance as being adored is kinda underwhelming. so is her insecurity, her insecurity not expanding beyond the "doesn't know she's beautiful" trope just rubs me the wrong way, she deserves more depth than that.
discord. discord. the relationship is so one-sided to discord that i think i can only name 2 things he legitimately done for fluttershy's happiness (both of which he lowkey ruined not a day later. most of their "bonding" scenes are just him trying to distract her from her tragic reality and her desires by doing stuff he wants to do, which btw is a manipulation tactic so GET THAT OUT OF HERE)
theres quite a few weird undertones and stereotypes. the pedo and "nice girl" stuff with applespike is the most obvious one, but theres also some lowkey misogynistic quips thrown in there and, although this might not have been an issue at the time, zecora does fit the "wise black woman" trope that's been pointed out many times in recent media, so i do need to adjust how she's portrayed.
another problem that FIM also commits, but rainbow dash just feels so mischaracterized as an element of loyalty at some points. i want to make her loyalty more prominent, to the point of putting her career on the line because she couldn't abandon fluttershy or her friends when they were breaking down. that would be real sweet.
i dont know if im also going to rewrite daughter of discord, i might consider it after im finished with this one, though. also i promise i write way better than i do here when i try lol

Honest
Genre: enemies-to-lovers!au, angsty but with a happy ending, comfort-ish, fluff (in the end)
Word count: 0.8k
Pairing: enemy!Suho x fem!reader (feat Yeri and Baekhyun as their friends)
Warnings: one kiss, usage of pet names (love), reader and junmyeon cry once, usage of the word "hate" (hypothetically), they are literature students so they kinda talk in rhymes at one point and the dialogue is kinda monologue-ish, possible grammar mistakes
Requested by: @bluisheye93 (song: Nosedive - Chen)
__________________________________ ׂׂૢ་༘࿐
If someone had told you that you would spend your breaks crying, you would have probably laughed in their faces; but studying literature was already hard on its own, and a certain Kim Junmyeon seemed to not care about that, as he kept making life harder for you. You had been neighbours since the two of you were little, but your relationship has always stayed the same: nothing more than "enemies", who were faking an awkward friendship for the sake of their parents' bond.
From your point of view, it was simple; he hated you, so you treated him just the way he was treating you. But on his side, things were a bit more difficult. He wanted to be noticed in a different way. He wanted to be like those male leads from his favourite dramas, the ones who could always get what they wanted, the ones with real friends by their side. He wished he lived in a world where the mindset of "money can solve anything" didn't exist, cause in this case, the girl he liked would be walking hand-in-hand with him in the hallway right then. Instead, he got a monotonous life in which he felt hated, even though he was just getting a taste of his own medicine.
He couldn't stand you because of your bubbly nature, and he was jealous that everything seemed to work your way. Your smile could heal wounds, and you always stood up in whatever you were doing. He was perceived as the bad guy from the beginning, and when his parents started to compare him with you, that was his last straw. But how could he not fall for you? Everything you did was perfect, and every feeling of love dissipated into hate; he hated that you weren't his. He hated that you were his inspiration when writing poems, but couldn't be his muse when he needed comfort. And that day, he felt like he lost all of his chances, if there were any.
Thirty minutes ago, you were peacefully enjoying your meal with your friend, Yeri, when you overheard a conversation that he was having with his friend, and that's when you felt at your lowest—because you only heard the bad parts of it.
"Her presence makes me lose my mind, Baek, you don't even understand!" he sighed, while ruffling his hair in frustration.
"Then tell her already," Baekhyun insisted, not expecting what would follow after his friend's burst.
"Tell her what, that I hate her because of all the attention she is getting? That i hate her because–", and silence.
He saw you leaving the table you used to occupy, and that's when he knew he fucked up again. He ran after you, with a desperate need to set every feeling that was pressing his aching heart free; even if it felt in vain. But all he wanted was to let you know why he was doing all of this.
On the other side, the moment you got inside the storage room, you let the tears furrow your red cheeks. "Where did I go wrong?" you asked yourself, without being able to give a proper answer to your question. You knew he was following you, and the moment you heard his steps behind you, you knew that you had to go through this conversation, to at least end this hell of a "friendship", forever.
"I can explain everything you've heard there," he stated, and even though he didn't see a move from you, he continued: "As selfish as it sounds, I hate you because you can't be mine. When I need some encouraging words, you are not here to tell me that everything will be fine."
This time, you felt the need to look at him, tears still on your cheeks. You knew he was fastforwarded, but did he really mean to spill those words?
"You did all of this—because you love me?" you asked, voice trembling in shock.
"Yes. It all started when you were just the center of my poems, but now, you became the center of my whole world."
A simple answer, yet the solution to your messed up situation.
"I know I hurt you, Y/N. It's okay to react like this. When it hurts just cry, cry all you want, it's okay."
"I never knew you felt like that, Junmyeon… But I want to repair all of this, and to make you happy, if it isn't too late."
You held his hand softly, and you swore you've seen tears at the corners of his eyes.
"When sadness disappears, and tears begin to stop, I'll wipe your tears underneath your eyes with my thumb."
"Promise you will stay by my side?" he asked, playing with your fingers and kissing each one of them.
"It's worth a try, love." you said, and sealed your promise with a sweet, little kiss—a kiss that marked the beginning of your enemies-to-lovers story, just like the drama he wanted to live in.

You got any hurt/comfort Headcanons for the bots or cons? I'm kinda down in the dumps right now.
I am so sorry it took me so long to get to this! I will try to make it up to you with my writing! I hope this makes you feel somewhat better! (also sorry that this is all about Optimus, he was just on my mind when I thought about angst and comfort... also semi sentient Matrix has been living in my head rent free for a while soooo)
Shifts and Changes
The Matrix is a mysterious relic, one which very little is known about save what the previous Primes have revealed. It was always strange to Orion that each and every one of the Primes to take up the mantle seemed to fall into madness after a time. Orion also never understood this or why the Primes kept knowledge of the Matrix and its secrets to themselves. But after coming to bear the Matrix himself, Optimus understood. Sometimes he wished he didn't.
The Matrix is more than a container for ancient knowledge, it is an artifact infused with part of the sparks and wills of all who have wielded it. Because of this, it is in a sense... alive. It has a will, an animalistic desire to see Cybertron and its people protected, by any means necessary. As such it has no issues changing its chosen champion to better suit its needs. It doesn't just remake their frame, it latches onto their spark and slowly but surely begins to connect to it, gaining a greater influence over the Prime with time. It molds their mind, giving it's Prime the same drive and desire, and it whispers to them, changing their very code, making the Prime become something... other.
Optimus is no exception to this.
In the beginning, the effects were minimal, in fact, he felt better than ever. His frame was powerful, his spark was enlightened, and he had all the knowledge and wisdom of his ancestors to guide him. However as time passed and the Matrix's bond with him grew stronger, he started to change. At first, it was small things, like feeling disconnected from the world around him in a way he couldn't explain and feeling the urge to nurture and protect the few remaining sparklings. It was off-putting but not detrimental, so Optimus chalked it up to the stress of the war and overactive parental protocols.
After a few vorns, he found himself seeing the world differently, from a more apathetic point of view. Things that seemed so important, so urgent, felt less relevant, instead, his thoughts started to drift away from his personal connections and toward the health of Cybertron and its people as a whole. He began to pull away from others, cutting himself off in a way that was not noticeable to his friends and companions. He still comforted, listened, and connected to others, at least on the surface. But he found himself looking at it as a duty, a function, and an instinctual part of his being, not his own desire.
His acquisition of Bumblebee both improved his mental state and simultaneously increased the Matrix's hold over him. For a time he stopped drifting away from others and his slowly growing apathy screeched to a halt. He devoted himself entirely to teaching and nurturing Bumblebee, almost to an obsessive degree. However once Bumblebee grew to be somewhat independent, the agreement between Optimus and the Matrix ended, the latter of which quickly renewed its efforts to change Optimus to better suit its purposes.
By the time Optimus arrived on earth he was practically a dead mech walking. His only desire, his only purpose is to fight and die for his people, nothing else matters. Any cost is acceptable if it means possibly defeating the enemy and protecting his people. In his mind he is only one part of a greater whole, a singular piece in a grand eternal plan. He is one part of the Matrix, an incarnation of Primus's will and one voice in the grand chorus. His own belief is that he as an individual does not matter, he is but a vessel and the Matrix's latest attempt to make things right. He could care less about his own wellbeing, only his people matter.
The team can see this, and while they don't understand his self sacrificial tendencies or why he refers to himself as 'we' on occasion and talks as though he were present in some ancient era, they still try to help him.
Ratchet tries his best to draw out bits of Orion, mainly by discussing old times in an attempt to pull Optimus out of his own head. It works sometimes and for a little while Optimus is just Optimus, not the Prime and not the newest attempt to fix Cybertron by the Matrix. Ratchet knows it is the Matrix screwing with his oldest friend and he hates the fragging thing even if he knows it has goodish intentions. He does everything in his power to give Optimus what little reprieve he can get from his primely duties. He tries, he really does, but he can't do it all alone.
Bulkhead, Arcee, and Wheeljack are not anywhere near as close to Optimus as Ratchet, but boy do they try and help their Prime anyway. Random acts of affection, pulling him into games with them, or simply doing their best to engage in conversation are their best attempts. Movie nights are also a good way for them to get Optimus out of his own head as the Prime tends to get distracted by a good story.
Ultra Magnus also does what he can by emulating Optimus's own methods for dealing with others. He will sit with his commander and talk, not about anything serious, but trivial things. It forces Optimus to think outside of his duties, at least partially, and engage with others. This in turn leads him to be more expressive, to separate himself from the conjoined mind that is the Matrix in order to respond appropriately.
Smokescreen doesn't even know he is doing it, but by being his fanboy self he forces Optimus to act like more of a living being. He reminds Optimus of Bumblebee when he was young and brings up emotions that are usually well hidden. The Prime becomes concerned for and affectionate towards the rambunctious elite guardsman rather quickly after his arrival. Optimus got attached and now he is physically incapable of being stoic and mystical when Smokescreen is trying to do something stupid.
Bumblebee does what Bumblebee does and gives his caretaker love. This in turn wakes Optimus from his state of resigned duty and gives him a chance to be himself. Sometimes Bumblebee will act younger than he is on purpose when he can sense Optimus has fallen deep into his trance. On those days Optimus can't help but want to be expressive and interested. He wants to watch his sparkling grow and change, and the Matrix is equally interested in the events. And so for a brief time every now and then Optimus is completely unburdened and allowed to simply be himself when Bumblebee gets involved.
The human children also help Optimus return to awareness and often don't even realize it. They are just so unpredictable and alien to both Optimus and the Matrix that both can't help but focus on the children. Optimus wants to express himself and the Matrix wants new information to feed to its future wielders, and so the Prime is capable of being emotional, compassionate, and inquisitive around the kids. The Matrix even purposefully pushes forward more of Orion's traits when around the children so that it can gain more data.
And lastly, weather Megatron knows it or not, he keeps Optimus from fully succumbing to the Matrix. His taunts, his behavior, and his constant callback's to his and Optimus's shared past make the Prime feel. He forces Optimus to feel. Not even the Matrix can stop Optimus from feeling rage, sorrow, and regret in overwhelming quantities when battling Megatron. It is the most awakening activity for the Prime and usually leaves him expressive and open for weeks afterwards before falling back into the Matrix's grip yet again.

Just wanted to say i'd love an omegaverse story of Simbar of you 🥹💜
😏 Thank you so much, anon, I see you're a person of culture as well😌
It would be sooo fun to write skdjnfls. I could make them be fated pairs and wreck havoc because when he arrives Ámbar is dating Matteo, but the moment she catches his scent, she starts going into heat, and Simón can't breathe anything that isn't her scent, and WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? 😂
Or I could, you know, have them find out they're made for each other more slowly. Simón and Matteo would always be butting heads because their alphas want to outdo each other. Ámbar would be so resentful of Luna because she used to be the only Omega before she arrived and now she has managed to charm everybody, especially her Alpha boyfriend. Sure, she never let Matteo bite her and never shared a heat with him either in their 2 years of relationship because she never felt close enough to him or trusted him enough to let him do that-- BUT HE WAS STILL HER BOYFRIEND, DAMN IT.
(Guess which Alfa she immediately starts trusting more and it confuses the hell out of her because she hasn't known him for that long but there's something about his disposition and his comforting scent that just makes her feel safe, she can't explain it)
And meanwhile, Simón is all confused because, ever since Luna presented as Omega three years ago, he had been thinking maybe they could be more, you know? They had a great bond already and now they were also compatible in that sense-- All the adults around them were already assuming they'd be mates someday. But then she left the country, so he followed her, but now he can't stop fucking thinking about Ámbar's vanilla scent, and it's so weird because she doesn't seem nice?? She seems to have a vendetta against Luna, so Simón shouldn't like her, he should be wary, but he's. just. not. Whenever he's near her, the last thing he feels is danger. Hell, if he didn't know any better, he'd say the girl was an angel from how nice she smells. And she always seems to mellow out around him too, so maybe she's not actually bad? His Alpha sure as hell thinks she's great.
Anyway, they kinda fight against it at the beginning but eventually give in because- if they find comfort in each other's presence, why not make use of that, right? That's not to say that they just start sucking face, they become friends, nothing more, she just happens to be Omega and he just happens to be Alpha and they just happen to love each other's scents.
But then, after a scheme of Ámbar's goes horribly wrong and her bottle of suppressants gets switched with someone else's, Ámbar suddenly goes into heat, and Oh Fuck, Simón has never smelt anything so tempting in his fucking life, and Ámbar is begging for it, but NOPE, he won't do it, he's a decent guy! She doesn't know what she's doing! So Simón drives her to the nearest hospital (he has a car in this one okay? Work with me here) using up to the last shred of his self-control and willpower, even has to use his Alpha Voice to keep her still because he can't drive if she's trying to climb onto his lap, and then the nurses take her and that's it. They ask him if he wants them to take a look at his arm too (because he bit his forearm to stop himself from biting Ámbar and to clear his head) but he declines and just drives to his house where he attempts to take a cold shower but eventually has to rub one off because his Alpha will not calm down.
Anyway, after that, Ámbar is beside herself with gratitude because "jesus christ, anyone could've taken advantage of me, you could've taken advantage of me, but you didn't and you kept me safe, thank you", and Simón can't keep ignoring the attraction he feels after an event like that, so now they're closer, not without its hiccups, of course, because all of this happens because of one of Ámbar's evil plans, and Simón is like "God damn it, Ámbar, you could've gotten hurt, anyone could've gotten hurt, you need to stop doing things like these" and Ámbar, after such a rattling wake up call, agrees, and starts changing her ways, and okay, now they're sucking face, because they really like each other, and hell, it might even be love.
(It is love. They scent each other, share heats and ruts together, move in together, and eventually, Simón bites her and they become a pair. Oh, and they get married too, but by that point, that's just a formality)
Btw, I hid these details in the tags of my previous post so I'll leave them here now:
#Simón would smell like sea breeze and Ámbar at first would think it's weird for an alpha to have such a comforting scent
#shouldn't only omegas have such comforting scents?
#but then she realizes GURLL HE HAS THE POWER OF THE SEAAA, DO YOU KNOW HOW POWERFUL IS THE OCEAN?? HAVE YOU SEEN HOW THEY WRECK BOATS AND CITIES? HE'S THE ALPHA OF ALL ALPHAS HE JUST CHOOSES TO BE GENTLE
#he's like the calming shore of a crystalline beach-- unless you cross him or his friends & family
#btw Ámbar smells like vanilla and flowers
#which coincidentally is the exact smell Simón remembers from his youth when he used to watch his mother make cookies in the kitchen
#FATED PAIR SIMBAR? GIVE IT TO ME
#and Simón of course smells like Ámbar's afternoons spent at the Cancún coastline when she visited her summer house
#HE WAS RIGHT THERE BUT THEY DIDN'T MEET SOONER

Flametail still dies, huh? Poor guy, although you mention he also betrays everyone. I wonder if he and his family ever get any closure after he dies?
The Broken Code is heavily rewritten due to (in my opinion) breaking the rules that govern the warrior world. I understand it is fantasy and lots can happen, but Ashfur simply... digging a hole into the Dark Forest territory and being able to lock everyone out like that was kinda the last straw for me on how StarClan works and their respectability/power. I thought the potential of being cut off from StarClan was fantastic, but the way they rationalize it was just not it for me. This alongside defeating The Dark Forest in the Great Battle being... admittedly nothing? Like they just fight until Tigerstar dies, that's about it. Ivypool did more to help than Lionblaze or Jayfeather really did if I'm being honest.
How does this tie into Flametail? Well it's because he is taking Ashfur's role here for a specific reason.
After Flametail learns he is not actually one of the prophesied cats, his insecurities and self doubts all rush back. His one friend was killed, his siblings are all basically affirmed to be "better than him" by StarClan's own word in his mind. He's a medicine cat, trying to heal and help his clan, and not even that special title is helping him get anywhere. Flametail thinks everything is unfair, and he's bitter. He only got his medicine cat name because Rowanstar had to remind Littlecloud to do so. It was the straw that broke the camel's back, and not only does Flametail stop talking to the others, he stops talking to StarClan as well.
Flametail is taken advantage of by the Place of No Stars. I mean a dejected medicine cat with inside knowledge of Jayfeather's Domain desperate to feel valued? There was no easier target. Tigerstar preys on his grandson and gives him all of the affirmation he could want, the things Littlecloud deprived Flametail of. He reminds Flametail that they are family, and that he sees value in him. At this point Flametail is less enveloped in doing the right thing and more just wanting to be recognized, seen - no matter what it is for. It's like when a child acts out to get their parents' attention, only this time its an unloved adult who is running right to the one person who gave him kindness. Flametail is a victim in this regard, but what he does is still horrible.
He feeds that secret information that had been able to be kept secret thanks to Jayfeather's dream Domain. Dawnpelt and Tigerheart do answer his questions and check on him, and Flametail smiles and plays a false friend. There's an information leak, and it's through it that Lionblaze, Tigerheart, Harespring and Minnowtail are put in danger. See they've been going to the Dark Forest at night, training and playing their own part as spies. This is revealed and they're fully outed thanks to Flametail's intel. By this point Harespring as stopped going, dealing with his own stuff and believing he doesn't have to do spy work anymore. They opt to punish him later.
As for the others, Lionblaze and Minnowtail are forced to watch as Mousewhisker is dragged forward and is struck a lethal blow, much to their horror. They're about to kill Ratscar as well for Tigerheart's punishment, at this point Tigerstar has made his point clear, and explains worse will come unless they each bring a cat here to train with them. As Mousewhisker bleeds out, it is only thanks to Minnowtail's love for him that her desperate pleas reach Jayfeather in his his sleep, the two bonded through the Dream Domain. Jayfeather is awoken and smells blood, managing to get to Mousewhisker and save his life.
Again, the Dark Forest knows Lionblaze, Tigerheart and Minnowtail are spies all thanks to Flametail. While they don't out their powers to the other trainees, wanting to keep plans under wraps for now, they do make an example of them and keep them around to continue their watch. This existence of Jayfeather's Domain as a whole is completely exposed, and while The Dark Forest can't get to it, they do know a cat cannot walk in The Dark Forest and the Domain at the same time. By keeping Lionblaze, Tigerheart, and Minnowtail coming to the Dark Forest every night, they can ensure they cannot meet and plan with Jayfeather and the others. That's their plan. As agreed upon as well, each of them bring forth a new Dark Forest apprentice - Lionblaze bringing Ivypaw, Tigerheart bringing Redpaw, and Minnowtail bringing Hollowpaw - as much as they don't want to. This also completely halts Minnowtail being able to meet with Mousewhisker any more.
This sucks because, well, first how do they tell the others they're trapped. Second, how did the Dark Forest find out? Luckily thanks to Kestrelflight's Perspective ability, he is able to learn from Lionblaze what happened and the group remaining can plan within the Domain still. It puts a wrench in their plan, but they figure things out.
Flametail gets outed thanks to Scorchpaw, Tigerheart's apprentice. Scorchpaw's ability causes any cat who has visited the Dark Forest the previous evening to be enshrouded by a darker aura in his vision, making them look scary and horrifying. Tigerheart pieces things together, and while scary as hell for Scorchpaw, he comes to trust Tigerheart and what he's doing. Scorchpaw becomes Tigerheart's voice in the Domain, and is able to tell the group ultimately what cats have been visiting the Dark Forest upon him being included in the prophecy. As you can probably guess, Scorchpaw runs into a terrifying Flametail and realizes something isn't right. You see he's come to understand many cats are there because they don't understand the Dark Forest and believe it's just training, but he fails to understand why Flametail would be there then. When he tells Tigerheart and Dawnpelt this, the group confronts their brother.
Now Flametail knows Dawnpelt sees through lies, and has been able to avoid triggering things up until now through half-truths. However, upon being cornered, Flametail panics and tries to flee, Dawnpelt and Tigerheart giving chase. In the colds of leafbare, Flametail races out onto the thin ice, begging them to stay back and let him go. He just wanted to be apart of something, and never meant for anyone to get hurt. Dawnpelt and Tigerheart plead with him, saying they can figure things out. However, as Dawnpelt takes a step forward towards her brother, the ice shatters, and the ginger tom falls into the water. With horror Dawnpelt dives in after, desperate to save her drowning brother... but he is gone. Tigerheart manages to pull her to the surface, and the two are horrified realizing their brother... was dead.
Flametail goes to The Dark Forest for these actions. He has no chance of being with his family again in his eyes, and all he can do is, well, serve Tigerstar. He's faithful and follows his grandfather's every word, watching Tigerheart from the shadows but too fearful to actually say anything to him.
He largely remains in this same spot until the final battle, in which he insists to Tigerstar that someone should follow Willowshine and her group who are "for some reason" leaving the Lake. Now Flametail and The Dark Forest don't know Willowshine reunited with the group in the Domain, and while she is not part of the prophecy, she is assisting. Jayfeather's Domain is NOT limited in who can go there - he can fully choose anyone, and I mean anyone, but simply has never as he stuck with the initial 12 out of comfort. It's knowledge Flametail doesn't have, even though in retrospect they should be able to say "oh I wasn't part of the prophecy but Jayfeather had me in there" it goes largely... unnoticed to be honest, with no one even fully realizing it until later.
Tigerstar believes they need all forces in the lake territories and can't be spread thin, dismissing Flametail and leaving the ginger tom feeling that familiar sense of unappreciation. In a last ditch effort to prove himself, Flametail leaves of his own will and alone follows Willowshine and her group ultimately to the old forest territories.
This decision by Tigerstar ends up being his undoing as rather than the group being "fleeing cowards" running in their last ditch effort, it's a plan to finally break the connection between the living world and the afterlife. Another group had left towards the SkyClan territories, the Dark Forest also believing the prophesied 12 were fleeing. Oh side note SkyClan was brought to the Lake by Jaypaw, Dawnpaw, Pebblepaw, and Kestrelpaw way back when because SkyClan not being there for the "final battle" is so weird considering the context of it narrative-wise but anyway. By going to both Whispering Cave and the Moonstone and spilling a living cat's blood there, they "pollute" the divinity of the space. If they do so all at the same time for Whispering Cave, the Moonstone, and the Moonpool, they can pollute all three gates and break the connection, locking the Dark Forest and StarClan away. because you can't just kill all the evil dead people... That's crazy...
Flametail is the only Dark Forest cat to have followed one of these groups and therefore is the only chance to stop this. He sees this as his moment and attacks his once closest friend - Willowshine. He fails to understand how she can still see a purpose after they felt much the same pain, but Willowshine looks beyond her own self and displays complete selflessness in her desire to help others and have her actions speak for who she is. As Willowshine does her duty and spills her own blood at the Moonstone, Flametail's spirit is locked away far from where StarClan and The Dark Forest lived. He is outside their borders and is now locked in nothingness, a wanderer with no one to talk to. He can still watch the world down below, just as StarClan and The Dark Forest can, but he is... something else entirely.
This is what gives him agency and the actual power to possess Shadowsight in The Broken Code later. He's pretty locked up for the most part, but when Willowshine is discovered to be the only cat still able to connect with StarClan thanks to her and Flametail's crossing of paths when the connection was broken, a chance is realized.
Willowshine is the new gate. She is who ultimately allows Harespring to get his nine lives when everyone else is locked out previously. Despite not being part of the prophecy, Willowshine has something much greater that she receives through her own sheer will and faith.
Sorry, this is long - but we're finally to The Broken Code. Upon Willowshine becoming the only one able to access StarClan, Sparkfire (who is a villain oops) in an attempt to reach them herself, spills Willowshine's blood again at the Moonpool at the end of the the Vision of Shadows arc. Willowshine is saved, Sparkfire is chased out, but that blood spill, returns access to the other medicine cats, but on the condition they are loyal to their clan and uphold their code. If they're are troubled or distracted, they cannot reach StarClan, simple as that. StarClan can still not walk in dreams, nor can the Dark Forest.
But Flametail is neither of those. He's a spirit, and he has an opening. He chooses to embed himself in Tigerheart's son Shadowkit, and thus he is the one haunting him and guiding him in ways to give the spirits of the dead more power again, using Shadowkit's naivety to manipulate others. Flametail relives his mentorship again as an elderly Littlecloud trains Shadowpaw - though his own bitterness grows as Littlecloud puts forth genuine effort to do right by Shadowpaw. Tigerheart had made the medicine cat promise he wouldn't do the same to Shadowpaw as he did the Flametail.
Shadowpaw is everything Flametail wanted to be, and because Tigerheart is so aware of the pain Flametail went through and how it led to his demise, he is a huge advocate for Shadowpaw and always has his back to make sure his voice is heard. It angers Flametail and he wants instead to drive a wedge between the clans so they can feel the same loneliness and despair he did.
Hollystar isn't possessed, it's all handled by a corrupted Shadowsight who Tigerheart furiously protects and the other clans attempt to maintain good ground with since he is their friend. However, tensions run high as possessed Shadowsight gets cats killed, lies, just causes so much pain and suffering that Tigerheart refuses to see past, to the point Hollystar and Harestar can't ignore it anymore even with their friendship.
Flametail never gets his closure until it's too late, when he kills Tigerheart in the finale of The Broken Code using Shadowsight's body. Shadowsight kills the one person who didn't hate him after all Flametail did. As Tigerheart bleeds out he speaks to both Shadowsight and Flametail with his dying breath - that he loves them, forgives them, and that they'll always be family.
The pain that Shadowsight feels is so strong that it shakes Flametail, who also feels a massive wave of grief as his brother acknowledges him. Flametail's spirit comes to the realization of what he has become, and that he never needed the world, just the people he loved. The people he destroyed...
With that Flametail releases his control on Shadowsight, and by exiting his body he is cast back to the Dark Forest. Due to their connection to each other throughout life, Shadowsight will always feel apart of Flametail. He has become the Dark Forest gate just as Willowshine was the StarClan gate. It is also with Flametail's overwhelming grief that Bristlefrost's sacrifice of ascension comes into play.
Bristlefrost advocates that cats can change, and that the endless realm of the afterlife cannot be transformed into a world of black and white. Cats from StarClan can be cast to the Dark Forest, and return, and Dark Forest cats can now reach StarClan when they find peace. No one is beyond overcoming the pain they felt, though if they'll ever find it is up to them. The door is open and is up to those cats to find peace, or wither away for the rest of time. This is Bristlefrost's gift to the cats of StarClan and The Dark Forest before she fades and stands beside Chi, becoming a greater being.

I sat snuffling and sniffling, wiping my eyes so much they had become sore. But I couldn't stop my tears. Oftentimes bringing a cigarette to my lips sucking in the toxins and blowing out the smoke in the hope it would calm me, but I was beyond that now. My mind spiralling down alice's rabbit hole of utter insanity thinking of the worse of everything to come.
"Hey, break time was over a while ago" Vivienne spoke up she had come to the stock room leaning on the wall to the corridor in her tartan jeans and one of her loose white printed shirts, she rested her hand on her hip as she looked me over on my little chair surrounded by boxes of leather and shirts
"Yeah sorry - I'll get" I began wiping my tears and putting my cigarette out on the broken window trying to straighten myself up even if without a gasp I crumbled apart again
"Hey. You're not going out there till you get straight." she says stepping over looming over me "What's the matter?"
"I'm just feeling kinda weird is all" I answered balling the issue in my hand even if it was barely a tissue any more given they had given it to me hours ago,
"You know that's bullshit and so do I. What's the matter?" She asks sitting on a box beside me
"I had a doctor's appointment this morning"
"What did you find out?"
"Well… I found out." I sighed "I'm pregnant" the moment those words left my lips tears flooded down my cheeks and I felt short of breath my heart racing but I kept myself straight wiping my tears as best I could trying to stay strong as this was the first time I had myself uttered those words
"This your first time?"
"Yeah," I nodded
"Who's the father?"
"Who do you think?" I sighed trying to focus on the ceiling, for one to stop my tears, and another to try and prevent the wave of awkwardness between us, I wouldn't feel this way telling Chrisy, or Jordan but Viv… it was different to tell her this.
There was a silence between us for a moment but it wasn't awkward silence more a quiet understanding we made eye contact and it was like we shared a feeling, shared a way, knowing how this is something we now shared.
She got a cigarette box from her pocket giving me one and taking one for herself lighting them both with her zippo, she let out a long drag tapping the first of her ash onto the floor "He won't give a shit. You know that right?"
"Yeah. I know" I nodded
"For all intensive purpose's your doing this on your own. You have to accept that. because he won't help you. not a foot rub, not a held bag, nothing."
"I know that. Malcolm doesn't like kids I'm not gonna change that."
"smarter girl then most." she chuckled as we smoked between us "So many think they can take a man like that and change him. he's a man he's not clay. there stubborn and they'll kick and scream no matter what you try and do" she says "I hope your ready, for whining, complaining, shit being everywhere, not getting any sleep"
"That the baby or Malcolm?"
she chuckled "Both." she says "Sometimes I swear he woke me up more then joe did"
"Not gonna lie Viv that doesn't make me feel better"
"it wasn't meant to. It's hell I'm not gonna sugar coat it for you." she says "its the worse nine months of your life and the only way out of it is the most painful thing on this earth, and from then on you have eighteen years trying desperately not to fuck it all up"
"I don't know if I'm ready for this.."
"You wanna know a secret?" she asks and I nod "Know one is. know one is ever ready to grow a whole life inside them and force it kicking and screaming into the world. It might be something that a man might tell you your body is built for but its never really ready for a baby." she explained "When I had my first kid. I thought my life was over. That… that was just it I'm a mother now that's my life done. Believe me there's nothing you can't do after this. its just a bump in the road of the rest of your life."
"He's gonna be angry."
"Why give a shit what he thinks?" she says "Do you want this baby?"
for a moment I pondered truly, given the time between finding out and this moment I hadn't really thought about an answer to that question
"I don't know" I answered "Does that make me a monster?"
"No. It makes you human. don't let anyone talk you into something, its your choice completely yours no matter what anyone says." she explained finishing her cigarette "I wanted an abortion when I found out I was pregnant"
"You did?"
"Yeah. even got to booking the appointment"
"what stopped you?"
"Because I felt utterly in love, I felt so happy plus I already had one kid so… didn't seem worth it."
"I can't do it."
"Nothing stopping you"
"I just can't. its me."
"Nothing wrong with that." she shrugs "You know where Malcolm was when joe was born?"
"No."
"In the pub. he was out drinking with his friends. I called the flat over and over with a baby in hand he picked up on the fifth try and I told him he had a son. He said cool and hung up. That's what I mean. you're doing this alone you have to accept that"
"I do. thanks Vivienne"
"Its okay. You need anything let me know"
"I will do" I smiled and she gave me a small hug before heading out towards the shop "You think I should tell him?"
"I don't know. I didn't till about six months. mostly because I was waiting to see how long before he'd notice. Had to give up that experiment."
"Fair enough" I chuckled I dried my eyes and heading into the shop.
I was a little nervous but I just did my best not to start crying as I heard the keys in the door and it quickly opened and closed I looked down the corridor seeing Malcolm arrive home throwing his keys on the hook and throwing his jacket on the hook and he came though to the kitchen "Hey"
"Hi" I smiled giving him a kiss
"what do we have in?"
"Oh I'm making dinner tonight"
"Yeah? since when do you cook?"
"today" I shrug
"Alright," he shrugs and he sat at the table telling me about everything as he had a cigarette once dinner was done I brought it to him and we chatted mostly about work stuff while we had dinner, and once dinner was done we went to the living room and cosied up on the sofa he sat up arms on the back of the sofa and I laid with my head in his chest as we cuddled up watching tv.
"Malcolm?"
"Yeah?" he asks
"I have something to tell you." I tried to keep my fear at bay unsure of his reaction
"… Okay. what is it?"
"I uhhh.. I umm… I'm pregnant."
His silence lasted what felt like hours "You're pregnant?"
"Yes."
"How pregnant?"
"eight weeks. doctor told me this morning"
"…okay. Who's the father?"
"Well, you are. Obviously" I told him "How do you feel about that?"
"Well. Not really up to me is it."
"Still."
"You do whatever you wanna do. whatever you do I'll support you"
"Really?"
"Yeah. whatever makes you happy darling"
"You won't just abandon me?"
"No. I live here. and I love ya." He says
"You don't like kids"
"Not really, but I have joe. what's one more kid? but I'm older now, more mature, you want us to have a family then… okay I'll cool wit that."
"Umm I love you" I smiled hugging him tightly
"Love you too." He says kissing my head "You want anything?"
"Just a cuddle. and maybe a blanket"
"okay I'll grab you a blanket"

something in line with one of your recent randl analysis:
in todays ep rhett makes a joke from his scoring chart where it says "Passion is the most important thing", and link replies "for you its not." and tone kinda switches and he said it in a kinda weird way, like he's suggesting something true about rhett - for example that link views their relationship as one of passion, but rhett is not valuing their passion the highest, as he still is wanting to hold on to his marriage, their old values, and not willing to throw it all away to be with link.
Yep, yep, yep. Exactly right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see the complaint in Link's expression.
Tumblr media
And Rhett's smile falling upon realisation. Link's complaining look shifts to one of sad fondness.
I believe it is not exactly that Rhett doesn't place their passion as high as Link does. It is just that Rhett is much less impulsive than Link is. I love that Link is ready to risk or quit literally everything to be openly with Rhett but I don't blame Rhett for being conscious of the hundreds of things that can go wrong. Serious stuff that can and probably may go very wrong: with their kids, families, career. They are 45, it's an age where you gotta think your kids and your bonds and your job.
I am willing to bet that if it was entirely up to Rhett, they wouldn't ever come out. You see, they were already so close as best friends, they have their creative house, they could go on with their affair forever and nobody know. Rhett would opt to live with the guilt against his wife and with his love being a secret forever as long as it kept his and Link's relations and career safe. If Rhett agrees to this, he probably does it only for Link's sake.
And while I am 100% sure Rhett understands and feels for Link's need to come out, I don't think he will do this solely out of his love and care. He is also trapped. He has no other choice. Here's why:
When Rhett entered this affair with Link, with almost certainly Link's initiative / approach, one of the main reasons he felt it was relatively safe to do it was that they are in the exact same position. They both have so must at stake. Still Christians at the time, family men, from very conservative families, famous people vulnerable to bad publicity and cancel culture, with a lot of employees depending on them. Rhett knew Link was at a risk of losing everything as much as he was, so he thought that their interests were interwined and thus this would be kept a well hidden secret by both of them for life.
What Rhett failed to consider was Link's impulsiveness and his readiness to abandon it all for the sake of their romance. It is unclear to me if Link is willing to potentially sacrifice it all or so he thinks now. In any case, Rhett can do little less. Link clearly wants out as fast as possible, he is barely containable, so nothing guarantees Rhett that he won't spill the beans on his own accord in the end, whether by accident or in a moment of anger or vengefulness. This will ruin Rhett's life all the same, except it will also lead to a maybe irreversible crisis in their relationship with each other. This is why Rhett can't but agree to it, except by agreeing to it he has required Link's patience to do everything gradually and according to a plan that will hopefully minimize the negative reactions.
Link has agreed to this, but bitterly because he can see Rhett's hesitation and half-heartedness. This makes Link question Rhett's love for him. Hence this moment today. Hence that moment in the Link solo EB episode,
Jenna: What is a trait you love most in other people?
Link:... I think sincerity... I’m sure that’s not the only one. There’s got to be at least three other ones that tie with that but that’s what I am going with today. You know. Don’t give me lip service. Mean it. Want it. Put your heart into it.
So, it's not that Rhett doesn't participate in the plan. He does, but according to Link, he does not do it with heart. With something equal to Link's enthusiastic expectation. But again this doesn't necessarily has to do with who loves the other the most. It could be that Rhett worries too much about what others and his loved ones will think, he is painfully aware of the consequences while Link hasn't realised fully the degree of danger in the risk he's ready to take or he downplays its impact on him in his mind.
You know, Link once responded in a tweet that attempted to be a little... let's say... open towards Ned from the Try Guys case. Not that they excused him in any way, it was basically something like "don't judge so harsh because you don't know what happens in general behind closed doors so just let them figure this out on their own" and Link agreed with this but he got attacked by someone almost threatening him that he better watch his reactions because he too is a celebrity family man. Link quickly deleted his re-tweet. This must have been a nasty slap of reality but apparently not enough.

Concept art of my FE3H!Red Queen au, starting with Cal as Dimitri of course. If you want to bare witness to my insane rambling, it'll be under the read more. FE3H spoiler warning.
So,,, I recently started another fire emblem 3 houses play through, and will probably go on to finish 3 hopes finally afterwards, but its brought the brainrot back in full swing. I have a general gist of who i want the main lords to be and a few of the house members but uh,, its a lot lmao.
The main ones I have set in my mind are Mare as Byleth, Cal as Dimitri, Maven as Edelgard and Farley as Claude, not only because I think they fit the characters best, but because I think it adds very interesting dynamics in terms of the fire emblem universe.
I absolutely adore Areadbhar, which is Dimitri's weapon, but I also love the very traumatic relationship Cal has with swords so I decided to design a sword based on the creator weapons. These line of weapons can only be safely wielded by those who have crests, and theyre made out of the bones of the goddess, the creator, the beginning,,
so i naturally kept that in mind and designed the sword based off the forearm bones and hand. Ignore all anatomical inaccuracies, its about the coolness factor more than anything.
Cal as Dimitri is just so [chef's kiss] to me, esp after getting that excerpt about Cal going insane in one of the cut concepts from the special edition set,,, it just slots so immediately well into dimitri's arc because they share very similar character motifs and tropes, and also general story tropes, their father dies, their step-mother had a hand in it, they're betrayed by their sibling. but at the end of it, when they come back to themselves and shed that anger they still try and Save their sibling etc etc.
Theyre loyal and duty bond, they were turned into soldiers from a very young age. Their ability is inherently destructive and it makes them more gentle out of fear of hurting anyone around them. they are generally kind and sincere, being deemed weaker due to the way they care and love, with something darker lurking just beneath the surface, but not because they are not who they present but because they are ashamed of what it means, of that part of themselves.
Until everything falls apart and they snap and are driven by anger and vengeance and use their ability to inflict harm that nothing else could ever rival.
And then once they are soaked through with blood, and see themselves in the reflection, their vision clear of that blinding anger, and a hand held out, granting them hope and showing them love and care, they vow to use their ability and and influence to protect their loved ones, and the people around them. they promise to uphold their beliefs and make things Better for those that come after them. im just,,, i love them your honor
Also the fact that in every other route where Byleth(Mare) does not choose Dimitri(Cal)'s house, he always ends up dead, because no one else is able to bring him back to himself, to save him from spiraling further and further until the only path he treads is towards a violent and bloody end, only they can make him believe he is worth saving, that his life is worth living for himself and not just in the pursuit of granting the violent wishes of the dead that haunt him.
And at the end of the blue lions route Dimitri(Cal) finds peace, not in vengeance, not in the arms of the dead, but in the people still living, in the support system that surrounds him, and in Byleth(Mare), he chooses to live for them, and lead a better life, and in the hope that maybe one day the water that washes his hands will run clear of blood.
I am a Marecal and Dimileth truther forever and always
Anyways this au is in no way fleshed out, mainly cause Im the kinda person that simply adheres to whatever is coolest to me at the time, so i don't know if I want to have Cal keep Dimitri's crest which grants Incredible strength (enough to crush a grown mans skull with little effort, one handed) or make a Crest that acts similarly to his sliver ability.
I just,, I love these games, and I love these books and so my brain decides to smush them together for the rabie inducing visuals. I hope you enjoy

Hi. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work on Rough Night. I looked forward to Fridays all week ever since I found your story and couldn't wait for updates and was so excited every single time, it became my Friday night treat haha. I saw your note about being on here so hopefully this is okay to ask (and just pls ignore if not). When did you know what the ending would be? It seemed to me like the whole thing just flows naturally to the conclusion but I started reading about halfway in and I saw from the original description you didn't have a planned ending at first. Just really curious how you made the whole thing tie together so well!! Thank you again for writing it all and being such a bright spot in my week.
Anon! This is so sweet! You made my day. And it’s Friday. My second Friday without an update. It’s so weird!!! So really, thank you for the ask because it feels like I’m still writing them. 🥹 Everyone who read and commented always made me feel so so loved. I’m so grateful.
It’s funny because to me the story doesn’t feel super cohesive at all, so it’s a super nice compliment that you feel it was. It makes me feel a lot less insecure about it. I made these long, meandering situations where we just watch Brio exist in their relationship. That’s all product of unplanned story. Lake Vacation was very much filler. They didn’t HAVE to go on vacation. I just wanted something soft to write about. Annie and Rio bonding didn’t HAVE to happen. I just like spinning domestic Brio round and round and watching them as they behave like “normal” people. All the lengthy, domestic moments did serve a purpose of Brio taking those baby steps toward increased intimacy and closeness. I just think had I actually had a plan, those steps would have happened in a more targeted and concise way. So my lack of direction got us 200k+ words. 😁
I had been planning how to end RN almost from the start. Chapter one was a one-shot. There wasn’t supposed to be a story at all. Then I added chapter two and three… Then I wanted Beth to really show up for Rio in reciprocity for his support of her, so chapter four happened and THAT was going to be the stopping point. But it just kept going.
The ending I ended up with became a more formed idea and goal around the time of Lake Vacation, when I first started discussing it with my friend who beta read for me, and began its trajectory in earnest when Beth went to the police charity event. That event was a super poorly thought out idea, actually, because that police event was supposed to be part of the final story arc. Something about it was supposed to carry over, but nothing really did other than the implosion of the Beth/Ruby relationship. I initially was thinking the police relationship would help Beth get Rio off the hook, and Rio donating to the charity event under his own name could be later used to further Beth’s anti crime standing by bringing Rio along with her in a publicly accepted way. Like, “See, he’s a good guy. Wrongfully accused. Forced to serve jail time. And he’s such an upstanding citizen! Donated money to police charity. Supports local youth programs.” Kinda like that. Give Rio a place in Beth’s world since Beth got a place in his, further blending them into a cohesive unit.
But I’m really happy with the way the story ended and even more happy that you and others enjoyed it. It’s been such a joy writing and interacting and enjoying the fandom with everyone. ❤️❤️

Questions That Linger
Behind The Scenes of BigHit’s Group Photo (For better context on the events happening in the following chapters, please refer to the link above)
After our all-black group photo, we were lined by height and grouped to take smaller group photos. I was in the shortest group with Lee Hyun, Yoongi, and TXT’s Taehyun, much to bruise my ego but I didn’t dwell on it.
We were supposed to move on to the next set when a director took a step back and looked at the entire set with a hand playing with his chin.
“Jimin ssi, you’re there on the third step.”
I was dragged to sit on top of one of the steps of the prop we had on set. The rest of the white-shaped props were set aside and the staff now filled the set to get us ready for the impromptu next scene.
It was chaos.
Usually, when we’d change sets we’d be taken back to our waiting room, but this wasn’t a complete change of sets. The director just had a eureka moment and everyone just went along with it as the biggest prop we had on set, a five-layered plain white staircase, screamed to be used and they said that closer positioning with each other would create a more genuinely tight bond aura for the photos.
I got to sit in the middle of the frame now. I had managed to snatch the middle positions in the shoots today so I had started feeling a little more airy inside, or perhaps that was because I now know my childhood best friend was here.
To my right was TXT’s Yeonjun and I still didn't know who would sit on my left. In front of me was Yoongi talking to Jin who was in front of him. Whilst the steps behind me were still waiting to get filled out by the rest of the boys.
I could see one of our makeup artists grab a kit to approach me with, so I quickly called for Sejin for some water before the makeup artist could retouch my lip.
“We need everyone on the upper steps on the prop now! They can retouch their makeup on the steps. Artists can go grab a stool to touch up the members on the higher steps!”
A director spoke over a megaphone as another manager kept tabs on the boys and dragged them over to position on which step they’d be sitting on. The ones on the steps behind me were using the empty space beside me to get up on their steps.
“Jimin ssi.”
I turned my head to Sejin who had opened a plastic water bottle for me and I bowed to thank him before grabbing the water and drinking a few drops with the bottle hovering over my lips. The water had run down my throat, soothing its dryness though seemingly doing nothing to my airy stomach.
Had I eaten something bad today?
“What’s wrong?” Sejin asked immediately as he was observing me.
I shook my head in dismissal before I gave him the bottle of water and I turned my head to let the makeup noona do her job easier. It wasn’t much of a touchup she had to do. She refrained from powdering my face until the very last chance she could retouch me. Considering the position I was in, the makeup noona wouldn’t be able to reach me between two boys when the others were in their positions.
“Beomgyu, you’re beside Jimin ssi. Taehyun, you’re beside Jin ssi.”
The manager dragged both boys towards the prop as my makeup noona quickly powdered my face, though it was rushed as she was under pressure from the director to move out of the way.
I worried that I’d be looking the most oily in the pictures now. The warehouse wasn’t the best ventilated and the suit, busy surroundings, and bright lighting did not help me from breaking a sweat.
The noona finally stepped back from the prop as the director quickly sat Beomgyu and Taehyun in place before taking a deep exhale. The stress he radiated could be felt from the way he placed his hands on his hips. I mean who wouldn’t feel pressure in getting all 13 of us to cooperate? Jin himself was already twisting his neck away from the makeup noonas as Lee Hyun and him engaged in some playful teasing.
Beomgyu sat beside me a little tense from his pin-straight posture and all limbs glued together that made a sizable space in between us despite the steps being already so small.
“Is your hat good now?” I tried to make light small talk as the younger looked at me like a deer in headlights, most probably not expecting me to initiate small talk.
“Yeah…” Beomgyu answered as I could feel Yeonjun move beside me.
“Eumi noona stuck like 50 pins on his head.” Yeonjun chuckled as I placed a smile on my lips as I looked at the younger trying to hide his face.
I would’ve laughed. Perhaps I should share a similar story that happened to me and a cap struggling to stay on my head when we were performing a music video. Hobi hyung was the one to stick a whole packet of bobbing pins to my head as the cap had already ruined multiple shots and it was already getting pretty late so everyone was cranky and hanging onto their last bit of patience.
But I couldn’t get a word out of my lips.
God, that nickname felt like a shower of cold water that froze the tip of my scalp to the ends of my toes.
It’s been seven years, that name better yet a shortened version of it shouldn’t have such effects on me anymore.
It was weird.
It was scary feeling this nagging air in my stomach. It wasn’t like I was bloating or coming up with a cold. I wasn’t hungry. I didn’t eat anything bad. I didn’t feel embarrassed or nervous. It just felt weird.
“Yeonjun ah, Beomgyu yah, do you have somewhere to go to after this shoot?” I changed the topic as my head turned from the two boys beside me.
Yeonjun detached from his makeup noona whilst rubbing his lips together to spread the lip gloss thinly on his lips whilst Beomgyu let out a sound that meant he was thinking.
“I don’t think so…”
“No, Kai might have something to do at the studio later… but we’re not really sure. Why?” Yeonjun corrected Beomgyu as I nodded slowly.
“We were planning on going to dinner after this with you guys and Hyun hyung. Hopefully, we can all be there.” I sent them a smile as their eyes lit up.
“We’ll talk with Kai. I’m pretty sure whatever he was going to do isn’t that important.” Yeonjun let out a breathy chuckle as he added sass to the end of his sentence.
“Hey, we can always have dinner together now. We’ll see each other more often in the building.” I laughed to not seem like they were forced to come to dinner with us just because we were their sunbaenims.
They sent me a smile before my eyes connected with the woman I tried to stir the conversation away from.
Her eyes were wide as they met mine. I wasn’t sure who was looking at who first though I’m pretty sure it was her. I mean I just turned my head to face Beomgyu and suddenly she was there looking at me. Did she know I was here? Did she plan on seeing me again? Did she even know that I was an idol?
God, I hated it when my mind spiraled into an endless loop of questions. It always annoyed me because I knew that I didn’t have the answers, yet I still bothered to think of them.
Her eyes broke eye contact from mine as she approached Beomgyu’s side though I just couldn’t take my eyes off every inch she moved. I could tell she knew I was watching her too. I wasn’t very discreet and every time she stepped back to examine Beomgyu’s face to check which parts needed touch-ups, her eyes would flicker in my direction. And each time it did, I could feel my stomach swallowing itself and my throat going dry.
How has she been? How was Ahnna and Aaron? Why was she back in Seoul? Has she visited Busan already or was she only staying in Seoul? Is she staying or just visiting? No, she wouldn’t have gotten a job if she was just vacationing. So why come back after all these years?
Does she even remember me? She does, right? I mean we were friends, neighbors, and schoolmates our entire childhood.
Did she know that I debuted? Was she proud? She always supported me before, though I wonder if she hated me more now.
Would she hate me if she learned that I was focusing more on my career? That was the reason why we broke up. I knew I needed to focus on BTS and give it my all, so I had to let her go to not hurt her when I did become the workaholic I am today.
Why do I care about what she thinks? She's no one to me.
Are we still friends? Was our breakup on bad terms or not? I mean she did cry, but I hugged her right? She understood why we broke up so would you call it a bad breakup? But we also haven’t talked ever since, so if we were still friends then I did a very bad job at maintaining it.
“Eumi noona, can you put some gloss on my lips?” Soobin’s light voice reached my ears behind all the busy talking around me.
A simple and normal request to ask from a makeup noona. I do that too when things are too hectic and I feel as though no one is going to approach me first so I have to call attention to myself, but god why was it worded in such a way?
I turned to look up at Soobin on the fifth step. His eyes were bright and he puckered and licked his lip as it was obvious that he needed a retouch.
“Okay Soobin ssi, let me get a stool first.” Areum had this sickly sweet tone in her voice when she answered formally to Soobin. She left the kit she held on the floor before running off to get a stool.
It was annoying.
Why was her voice so sweet and sickly? It wasn’t the same genuinely soft yet naturally rough nature as before. It sounded so annoying, so made up and pretense. It was so sickly that my stomach had done a backflip inside me. My face would’ve cringed if there weren't any people around, but her new voice wasn’t the only problem that nagged me.
It annoyed me. In what world was an idol so close to their makeup noona that he could call them by their nickname? Why didn’t Soobin have his own makeup noona anyway? Didn’t he see that Areum was busy attending to Beomgyu? He hadn’t even gotten his face powdered and Areum was already off to helping Soobin. Where were the other makeup noonas anyway? Doesn’t one member get two? Where were they now?
I didn’t realize I was so deep in my questioning that Areum had already returned with a wooden stool to stand on and two other makeup noona following her.
“Can you powder Beomgyu for me?” She smiled at one of the makeup noonas before placing the stool beside Soobin’s step.
“Hold the kit for me please whilst I retouch Soobin’s lip.” She handed the other makeup noona a new makeup kit before she stood on the stool to stand only a few inches lower than Soobin’s height.
She was clearly struggling to reach the taller man on the taller prop. I wondered why Soobin was being so inconsiderate towards his makeup noona, though my new parade of questions was halted when I watched Areum’s hand reach out to softly direct Soobin’s jaw to face her before reaching out
I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes. Instead, I opted to look around the studio to see if anyone else was observing this act of plain unprofessionalism. Makeup noonas don’t touch their client’s face when doing makeup. Why was she having her hands all over his face?
This was ridiculous!
“Okay! Everyone, off the set please!” The director finally called out as the makeup noonas started cleaning up and preparing to leave the set, along with staff members cleaning up any unnecessary items on set and making sure the lights were properly projecting on us.
I turned behind me and tapped Jungkook on the knee.
“Is my face oily?” I asked as I gestured a circle on my face as the younger looked at me.
“No, but you have a clump here.” He gestured to his own forehead and I tried to smoothly rub it to make it go away.
At the same time I removed my arm away from my face, Soobin’s figure appeared in my peripheral vision as he seemed to smile brightly at Areum before she carefully tried to get off the stool though losing balance.
“Woah!” The sound left my throat before I had the chance to stop it. My body jerked towards her direction, almost standing though I stopped myself when I saw that Soobin had held her arm to help her regain her balance and avoid falling.
It wasn’t a big incident but my voice had drawn the attention of the others around me so I assume that they followed my gaze to see Areum almost falling though going back to mind their business. Only Namjoon who stood behind Soobin offered a hand to help guide Areum back to the floor though it wasn’t needed as Soobin provided her with all the support she needed.
I swallowed thickly as I watched her figure try to compose herself before walking out of the set with the other makeup noona.
I seriously had to calm down.
Just as I was about to face the camera in front of us, my eyes connected with a wide-eyed Taehyung looking straight at me and something at a far distance. I knew what he meant.
Areum always had a memorable face. Despite the one video call that Taehyung saw her on, I knew he knew just who that makeup noona was.
However, I just turned around and avoided his gaze from then on.
I had to get myself together. I can’t stand filling my mind with all these miscellaneous and unnecessary questions.
I didn’t need her in my head.

See, while others got traumatized by the movie, I actually grew up watching the tv series - it was my childhood. I didn’t even know there was a movie or book about it until I used the internet. The TV series will always hold a special place in my heart because I grew up with it, but the Netflix series is so far the best Watership Down adaptation out there and it didn’t deserve all the hate it got.
I know a lot of the complaints were that the rabbits all look alike, but like, yes? They’re wild rabbits? It’s kinda the point? And yes, that makes it hard to tell them apart first but…not really??? Because they all have different builds, fur, markings, etc. And even then, you can still tell them apart by voice. The voice actors do such an amazing job!
The Netflix one sticks a bit closer to the book, added stuff from the tv series while also adding its own touch to it and that’s what got me easily charmed by this series.
Before I start with that - I want to clarify I don’t hate the movie. Regardless if TV series, Netflix or movie, I think they are all wonderful in their own way and equally flawed.
But in the movie, there isn’t actually…not much going on. It feels rather flat to me, I don’t like the pacing. Like, I always preferred the tv series over it because there is just more to it. The movie doesn’t offer much for me and a lot of things appear to be written only for shock value. It doesn’t really have any memorable moments for me.
But the Netflix Series? The plot, the animation, the tv series references, the writing, the characters, the voice acting, Efrafa - everything is absolutely amazing here.
See, the thing is, I can actually take Efrafa seriously here. Because they actually carried over the oppression these rabbits face in Efrafa incredibly well. They did not hold back on it.
This warren is bad. It’s disgusting. It’s terrible. What’s the first thing we hear when we get introduced to this warren? Does screaming. Whimpering. Begging.
Our second introduction to this warren, thanks to Orchis?
Rabbits guarding the place. Already acting hostile. You can hear screams in the distance. All these guards keep a sharp eye on you. A doe gets pinned into the ground because she was talking. Another rabbit is looming over a doe. Vervain smacks a doe who escaped. Vervain pins Sainfoin to the ground because he wasn’t focused enough. Sainfoin thanks him for it. Does crying.
And many other things that go on there.
Nothing is over the top like it was in the movie. We actually have more time to get to know Efrafa. They kept the whole “you can have any doe you want” and “you can only take a shit when we tell you to” amd that is what made Efrafa so disturbing to me.
Even in the TV series it is not as seriously played. Which is understandable since it is a kids show.
But you can tell the power everyone has in that warren. You can tell how feared Woundwort actually is because everyone goes immediately quiet and stiff when he appears. You can tell, they would not dare to speak against him or act like Vervain or Campion in the tv series - because they would be dead already.
You can tell how much his Owsla holds the power over that warren. All without playing it off as over the top, savage killer rabbits like they did in the movie.
Everything just feels so much more believable.
As Holly would put it, you can see how they still have somewhat of their animality. Because at the end of the day, they are just rabbits following their orders from a tyrant. But they are still “people”. Vervain and Orchis who share a close bond. Orchis who got blinded by rage after his brother died. Sainfoin and Campion who ended up questioning their orders. The Owsla actually telling the old stories.
They just really managed to portray Efrafa so well.
My only complaints?
Bluebell. He was Owsla. What Holly heard, he experienced. The only reason why Holly survived this long was because he had his faithful jester by his side and it's a shame that every adaption leaves that out. His character was a mix of Pipkin and Dandelion. I don't mind him telling stories, he did it in the book to but turning him into this unexperienced, frightened rabbit when he used to be Owsla? I am not fond of that.
and Holly's and Hazel's death. Holly's was just there for shock value and with Hazel...I just think he should have died of old age, like in the book and movie.
