And now for a different kind of photography project… An X-ray of my arm! In the early hours of 10 December I was cycling home from a Christmas fancy dress party at Plunge prop-makers (where I sometimes work). I slid on the frosty road, my bike slipped out from underneath me, and I fell straight onto my elbow. I found myself lying on the frozen tarmac, writhing in pain, unable to get up. Eventually a neighbour heard me swearing and shouting for help, and called 999. The operator told him an ambulance would take up to two hours to arrive. This was in the run-up to Christmas, when many of our key public services were striking for acceptable pay and working conditions, against government intransigence and privatisation. I was worried I’d succumb to hypothermia before medical aid arrived, so I got my neighbour to help me up and back home. A friend kindly came over around 5am and drove me to A&E. The initial diagnosis was that my arm was badly sprained, so I wasn’t very gentle with it for the first two weeks. It flared up on Christmas Eve, after I hauled baggage by train to my parents. Another trip to A&E, and another X-ray, revealed two “fat pads” either side of my humerus (dark patches left and right of the upright bone in the photo here) – indicative of an unseen minor fracture around my elbow joint. I was given a better sling and painkillers, told to be gentle with it, and it’s finally on the mend! However, I still can’t bend my arm, lift heavy loads, or cycle/drive, so I’m getting quite frustrated with my immobility. Lucky it’s my left arm, I suppose, although it’s surprising how much you need your non-dominant limbs! Getting there… Thank you NHS, f*** you Tories. Oh, It's been awhile.

I haven't updated in awhile. It's still pretty hard for me to do right now actually. You see, I broke my hand at the end of August. I had a brace for one week, a cast for three weeks, and now I'm back in the brace until October 27th, at least. I can take the brace off to shower and do physical therapy, but that's about it. I do have it off currently because it's easier to type, but I have limited strength in my left pinky and ring finger and it does make this pretty difficult.

I fell down the stairs because I wanted to get a pizza from the basement freezer... for breakfast. Lesson learned.

I started a new job recently and I absolutely love it. I'm unsure about a couple of the girls there, but only because I feel like I'm too much and they don't care for me. I know I can go overboard and I over share a lot. I'm just trying to find my feet here. It's hard to learn some of the stuff when I don't have the use of my left hand though. I feel like all I've been good for is sweeping the floors and dusting the mannequins. I know it will take time. But I love where I'm at right now and can't wait to see where this takes me. It's only part time, but that works well for me.

So for now, back to Netflix (currently binging Jane the Virgin) and pretending the outside world does not exist.

PUNK GLOBE: "And can you tell me, how did your work with Tony in BROKEN BONES differ from what you did in DISCHARGE?"

TEZZ: "The difference in sound with BROKEN BONES and DISCHARGE is that playing in DISCHARGE we didn’t play, and don’t play now, the blues scale. I can say that we even avoid it. And in BROKEN BONES we touched it here and there as far as melodies go."

PUNK GLOBE: "By the time you and your brother Tony were already playing together, or BROKEN BONES were just in the formation stage?"

TEZZ: "I left the band in 1981 and started to play bass in BROKEN BONES with my brother Tony, after he had also left DISCHARGE. I left BB in 1983 to join the UK SUBS…then after playing every instrument in that band, left them. And in 1985 came back to BROKEN BONES on the bass, doing this and that with other bands too."
